Who says there are no palm trees in Canada? English Bay Beach Park, located at the southern edge of downtown Vancouver's West End, features not only palm trees, but also expansive sandy beaches, beautiful lawns and flowerbeds along with stunning views across the bay.

The park and beach are located right across from the intersection of Davie and Denman Street where you will discover many restaurants and small shops to explore not to mention the ever present hotdog carts.

English Bay is also located on Vancouver's famous seawall which you can follow north all the way around Stanley Park or you can stroll a short distance to the south and find yourself at Sunset Beach with even more long stretches of sandy beach, green lawns, trees and superb views across the bay to Vanier Park and the H.R. MacMillan Space Center.

Activities include swimming and sunbathing, beach volleyball, sightseeing and walking to name a few. Their downtown location makes these beaches easy to get to and well worth visiting during your stay in Vancouver. English Bay and Sunset Beach Reviews

Rated 4.7 out of 5 Star Rating

5 Star Rating I visited the location for the first time to watch the breathtaking sunset. The scenery was magnificent, the sound of the ocean and the birds flying above. Since the weather was nice, i went for a walk. There is a lovely path by the beach which leads to Stanley Park, making it a perfect place for jogging and cycling. Overall,It's an ideal spot for couples to enjoy the sunset together in a romantic setting.

5 Star Rating English bay is a year round beach with plenty of sand and plenty of people. The water is refreshing on a hot summer day but be aware it is also cold because it’s the ocean. During the summer months this place gets packed and although the laws say you can’t drink the park rangers are reasonable and most people do anyways. The restaurants around offer a beautiful view but always have a massive line so be prepared to wait.

5 Star Rating Great at this time of month for a date walk, which I was fortunate enough to be on. We walked from sunset beach (starting at Burrard street Bridge) past most of English bay where the laughing men installation is. Enjoyed Starbucks there. The beach itself is beautiful and sandy. No longer bike accessible due to changes during covid to encourage more walking, and boy has it worked.

5 Star Rating Went for the very first time and I really loved it. There are lot of food options nearby. Went through public transport which is quite cheap and bus stop is 4 mins walking distance from beach.
