Best Months to Visit Sydney: September, October, November, December
You will never have to worry about snow or freezing temperatures during your visit to Sydney, but thunderstorms are common and they can produce some large size hailstones. The climate in Sydney is moderated by the proximity of the city to the ocean. Summers there are pleasantly warm for the most part but there are usually a few hot spells each year where temperatures get into the mid to upper 30°C range. Extreme hot and dry spells have occured, with the heat being more intense as you venture into the inland suburbs farther from the ocean.
Sydney gets plenty of sunshine, but plenty of rainfall too. The rain often comes in the form of heavy showers or thundershowers; many days being what we would call unsettled with sun and rain alternating during the day. Check the current forecast below or on our home page to see what the likelihood is for rain to occur before you venture out. Except during the winter season, it isn't usually very cold even when raining, but it is a good idea to carry an umbrella and to have a good water repellent windbreaker in case it is windy as well.
While Sydney is a great city to visit any time of the year we suggest September through December as the best time to visit. Those months combine warm temperatures with slightly less rainfall and lower humidity than other times of the year. July is the coolest month of the year being wintertime there, but it is still very mild.
We hope you find the above information helpful when planning your trip to Sydney.
