What draws me here is the view towards Big Ben and it is convenient along the streets. The view could be better if it wasn't slopping downwards away from the streets (meaning your view isn't really parallel with the streets). The quality of the fish and chips was not bad, actually the smell of it is also another reason why I stopped and came into this restaurant. Overall, a decent place to have a meal or a drink.

When wandering through London's historic heart, a stone's throw from the iconic Big Ben, you'll stumble upon a quintessentially British gem - St. Stephen's Tavern. This traditional pub is not just a place to quench your thirst; it's a slice of London's history, offering a cozy refuge with unbeatable views of the parliamentary clock tower. If you're crafting a London bucket list, pencil in a visit to St. Stephen's Tavern for an authentic British pub experience, complete with delectable fish and chips and a splendidly chilled cider.
St. Stephen's Tavern boasts a heritage as rich as its menu. Here's a quirky tidbit: the pub's clock is permanently set to 8:00, a nod to the time when the tavern would fill with Members of Parliament hurrying in after the division bell rang, signaling a vote. The atmosphere inside is as timeless as the decor, with wood-paneled walls and historical paraphernalia that tell tales of political banter and decision-making over pints.
The location could hardly be more perfect. Nestled in the heart of Westminster, St. Stephen's Tavern offers a front-row seat to London's political epicenter, making it an ideal spot for those looking to soak in the city's historic ambiance while enjoying a hearty meal and a cold drink. The fish and chips here are a must-try, perfectly crispy and golden, best enjoyed with a side of their famously refreshing cider.
In a city brimming with dining options, St. Stephen's Tavern stands out for its blend of history, location, and traditional British fare. Whether you're a history enthusiast, a foodie, or just in search of a cozy spot to rest after a day of sightseeing, this pub ticks all the boxes. So, next time you're in London, make your way to St. Stephen's Tavern, raise a glass under the gaze of Big Ben, and immerse yourself in the authentic charm of a London institution. Don't forget to snap a picture and share it; this is one experience you'll want to remember (and your friends will want to like!).

In contrast to many reviews, our service was actually quite lovely. From the array of british classics we ordered Sausages, Pie and Mash, Fish and Chips and a vegetarian Burger. Everything wad really tasty, the beer was great as well. Beforehand I was afraid that because of it‘s location, this pub might be a tourist trap. I was proved wrong, I found we got quite an authentic pub experience. Will gladly come again.

We walked in because of the sign outside advertising fish& chips. At first we weren't sure who to check in with. (We also saw a bunch of other people confused throughout our dinner) They should add a sign that says wait here to be seated.
Eventually a lady came to us but she almost seemed a little annoyed that we were there haha. We asked if they had room for two. The first level was completely full so she ran upstairs to check. At first I didn't understand if it was okay for us to go up or if we had to wait. Then she saw we hadn't gone up and motioned us up but again she seemed kind of irritated.
Upstairs we were seated and placed our order. The food was okay. The fish had a good crisp but the meat inside didn't have much flavor. The fries were okay as well, some were kind of crispy, others kind of soft, but not in a very yummy way, the inside felt kind of dry. Also, I guess having peas on the side is common in England but I didn't love the combination. I didn't mind that much though, it was just the fish and chips weren't amazing. When we got our food, my husband's drink order still hadn't arrived. We asked one of the employees and she brought it by soon after. The ambience here is pretty loud. The people downstairs were cheery and chatty and you can hear it all clearly from upstairs which was fine with me. Overall, the service was kind of slow and not friendly and the food was just okay. And somehow we ended up spending over $80 bucks here for 2 fish and chips and a couple of beers.

Classic English food with a dining room that overlooks a bustling street. Interior is super cozy. I ate the Fish & Chips. If you've never had English food, expect it to be much milder than the normal fare (if you're Indian like me). Fish was battered nicely, chips tasted like chips and the sauce was nice. Service was amazing and our waiter was pleasant. We arrived early, so there was time to chitchat. Come here once for the experience while you're in london.

Classic quintessential pub. Wonderfully located near serious attractions. Food was superb. Not cheap but superb.
Walking distance from Victoria. Close to Parliament and Palace and more. Comfy relaxed friendly. Bigger fuller restaurant upstairs but wee pub is gorgeous.

Fantastic late lunch! We had a big day of bus tours, boat rides and the London eye and our kids had gotten hangry. They were rocking busy and about ready to transfer dinner service, but saw our situation and found us a spot. We were grateful and treated to some amazing food. The two adults had the pie platter for two, which was more than plentiful. Our son got the burger and fries and our daughter shared off our plates. We had a few beers and all left ready for an evening of musicals! Amazing old building and ambiance. Highly recommend…but make a reservation and show up on time. It turns out we got a table because another group was 8 minutes late.

Pies baby! Damn good pies!
Yes I’m reviewing this as an American who went to this delightful restaurant on his Holliday. Our tour guide pointed it out mentioning how “Red Lion” was a common name and my wife and I decided to try it. He should started with “If you want some delicious meat pies that give you a taste of British cuisine, go there!”
Also dope toffee pudding… get it.

Working with Letticia was a dream!!!! She and her team were so professional and courteous.
They catered to every demand and request we had. The venue was so beautifully decorated, with all the vendors working well and efficiently to ensure that the wedding was epic!!!
Despite the long hours, Leticia ensured that we were well accommodated.
The bride and groom and their guests had so much fun.
I definitely recommend this venue for your weddings, special events, and occasions.

What a lovely building to hold an event in. It has a nice cafe where we had breakfast before the event, the lecture theatre is well equipped and the lunch was superb.

It is a little scratchy to work with their event managers and supervisors, who like bossing around over and over all the time and sending staff home early(earlier than their booked working time)without proper communication. As I had been through with them, I would say this is impolite and rude. Apparently they have not realised the importance of team work and have remained this make -do attitude for long time, in such a historical and gorgeous building.

Dear Gary,
Thank you very much for your genuine reply.
Thanks to my angycy, I have had the chance to work in a few of different 5 star hotels and restaurants in central London which I have tried to write down my reviews objectively for each of them. With my skill and experience, I can tell, at least, which one is friendly and polite from the attitude and language between their staffs and managers.
Frankly I am not interested in how is your relationship going on with your clients you serve for who actually pay you. What I focus was the unfair treatment to the staffs like us in this public platform, who get paid from you. I am a professional graphic designer, artworker and retoucher, I don't think I need the help from you in this case. In the contrast, you are the one who really need to improve the relationship between your staffs and managers who obviously lack of the same enthusiasm and passion to staff, compared with to your clients. I feel sorry if you still have not figured it out in this beautiful Edwardian style building for these days.
Kind regards,
Minyan

Superb food, drink and atmosphere. Was fortunate enough to be invited and it did not disappoint. The room is steeped in history, if only the walls could talk! I'd love to return.

Very good option to be able to eat or drink something without having to leave the museum and be able to continue with the visit. The menu is quite limited in terms of options, but the food is very good. They don't serve beer. Very attentive and friendly staff, with a person who speaks Spanish and helps you choose.
