Mini Review: This Holiday Inn located in Arlington offers 4 Star amenities for significantly less than you will find in Downtown Washington DC. It is only a 6 minute walk from the Metro station and about a 15 ride on the Metro to get downtown. The spacious rooms come with a mini fridge, microwave and coffeemaker for added convenience. During the warmer months, you can enjoy a dip in the seasonal outdoor pool after a day of sightseeing. Parking is available on site, but there is an additional fee. Most rooms can be booked with or without a continental breakfast. Reviewers find the beds comfortable and the location excellent.

Mini Review: Another brand name hotel in the Washington DC area, this one in Silver Spring, is only 3 blocks from Silver Spring Train Station. The ride into downtown Washington, close to most attractions, takes about 25 minutes. Not bad, when you consider the additional cost of staying closer to downtown. A good breakfast is available on site for an additional charge, although some room rates do include it. Either way there are plenty of restaurants and stores in the immediate area. Parking is available for an an extra fee. It should also be noted that this is a completely non-smoking property.

Mini Review: Like the above listing the Courtyard Silver Spring is just a short walk form the Metro for easy access to downtown Washington. Having said that there are plenty of things to see and do in the immediate area, including shopping, dining and movie theatres. There is an indoor swimming pool and a full fitness centre. Location, cleanliness and staff all receive high ratings at this hotel.

Mini Review: You will pay a little more than some of the outlying hotels, but the Washington Court Hotel is not just close to the Washington Metro, it is also close to many of the major attractions. Many rooms even offer a clear view of the Capitol Building. It offers very good value for such a central location an is highly rated in every area, with cleanliness, comfort and location being the top rated attributes. The only downside is that rooms don't have a fridge or microwave.

Mini Review:The Hotel Madera is a boutique style hotel offering clean basic accommodations in a pleasant neighbourhood and convenient access to the subway. Dupont Circle Metro Station is only a 3 to 4 minute walk from the front doors. The National Geographic Museum and the Heurich House Museum are both within easy walking distance. Even the National Mall is only a 30 minute walk south, or you can ride one stop on the Red Metro Line to Metro Center Station. From there it is only a 10 minute walk. Some rates include a good breakfast. Larger family size rooms are also available. All rooms are non-smoking only. There's both a restaurant and a bar on-site.

Mini Review: The Hyatt Place is located in Northeast Washington DC about a 25 minute walk north of the Capital Building. Taking the subway from nearby NoMa-Gallaudet Station, it is only a 6 minute ride to Gallery Place - Chinatown Station. From there you can walk the National Mall or transfer to a train on the Green or Yellow Line to get even closer. This hotel offers basic amenities and good overall reviews. There is also a seasonal outdoor swimming pool. It is a non-smoking property. Parking is available, but quite expensive, so be sure to factor that into the cost if you are driving here.

Mini Review: If you don't mind sacrificing room size to get a better rate in a very central location, take a look at the Motto by Hilton. The guestrooms are small, but perfectly adaquate and they all have a private bathroom, a small work area, and a large flat-screen TV. On the plus side you are within walking distance of the National Mall and many attractions as well as right across the road from Gallery Place - Chinatown Metro Station which gives you access to 3 different subway lines. It is rated excellent for cleanliness, staff, and location. This property is smoke-free. There is no parking onsite, but public parking is available nearby with a reservation.

Mini Review: Moving to the southeastt side of the city, we recommned the Hampton Inn by the Navy Yard. A short 4 minute ride on the Metro puts you on the south edge of the National Mall and within easy walking distance of many world class museums and famous monuments. It is also located right next to Nationals Park, home to Major League Baseball's Washington Nationals. Another advantage of this location- it's a short walk to the Anacosita Riverwalk Trail, a very pleasant place to enjoy a waterfront stroll. All rooms have a fridge and a coffeemaker. Better yet there is a free breakfast included in the room rate to help you get a good start to your day and save even more. Overall this is a great choice for exploring the sights of Washington DC.

The rooms are still a decent size, have private bathrooms, hardwood flooring, and are impeccibly clean. You will be hardpressed to find a better rate in this area. This property is only a 10 minute walk from the Lincoln Memorial and just a 6 minute walk from Foggy Bottom Metro Station. There is a rooftop bar and a restaurant. Breakfast is available for an additional charge. Parking is available nearby for an additional fee, but should be reserved in advance.

It is located north of Downtown, but only a few steps from the Woodley Park/Adams Morgan Metro station. This hotel features beautifully appointed traditional guest rooms and pleasant outdoor spaces including an outdoor swimming pool with a poolside bar (seasonal). We recommend this outstanding property for anyone desiring a full service hotel at a reasonable cost.

All rooms have a coffeemaker and many also have a small refridgerator and a kettle. This hotel is about a 10 minute walk from Mt Vernon Sq - 7th St-Convention Center Station for quick access to the National Mall area and its many museums and monuments. It is also within walking distance of the Washington Convention Centre.

Mini Review: An apartment stay can provide great value, especially for longer stays where the fixed cleaning charge gets spread out over more days. This newly renovated Vintage Rowhouse has great character, private entrance, hardwood floors, and a good location that is only an 8 minute walk from Columbia Heights Station. The Smithsonian Zoo is within waking distance too. Save money by preparing some of your own meals in the full kitchen. If you are staying for a while the in-suite laundry will prove handy. There is also an outdoor space and garden area where you can sit an relax and a neighbourhood park and playground right across the road. These units are popular, so you should book well ahead.

These professionally managed apartments are available for stays as short as one night, but the value increases considerably with longer stays. Both one and two bedroom apartments are available making this an ideal accommodation for your family vacation. Stretch out in the spacious rooms and enjoy the ability to prepare your own meals. Check out the spectacular views from the rooftop deck. The Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and National Mall are just a 19 minute walk or one stop the subway. Waterfront Station on the Green Line and a Safeway store are just steps away. In terms of convenience and location it doesn't get much better than this.
