5 Star Rating 7 West Cafe, Toronto 7:00 a.m. I was on my way to the ROM and had already looked this place up ahead of time. The reviews were strong enough that I built my morning around it. When I arrived, the cafe was open, calm, and already moving at an easy pace. A few tables were filled, coffee was flowing, and the room had that quiet early morning energy where no one is in a rush yet. The staff was kind from the start. Not overly chatty, just present and welcoming. I ordered breakfast and it was genuinely excellent. I love breakfast food and have eaten a lot of it, but this was one of those meals that makes you pause and actually appreciate what is in front of you. Everything tasted thoughtful and well done. At one point I asked to use the bathroom, which ended up being unintentionally funny. The bathroom was very small. Small enough that when I shifted even slightly, the hand dryer turned on and blasted air directly at my head while I was doing my business. It caught me off guard and I could not help but laugh. It was one of those moments that only happens when you are traveling alone. Afterward, I walked around the second floor just to take in the space. One of the staff members noticed and asked if I needed help. I asked if it was okay to walk around since the restaurant had multiple levels. He said absolutely and let me explore. The place is beautiful. Dark wood, warm lighting, staircases and rooms that feel quietly tucked away. It felt like a space meant to be lingered in, not rushed through. 7 West serves excellent food, but what stood out just as much was the staff and the atmosphere. Comfortable, welcoming, and unintentionally memorable. And yes, I will probably always remember that bathroom.

4 Star Rating The café has a lovely atmosphere and the servers were genuinely kind and polite. However, the overall service felt quite slow and disorganized. The mains didn’t stand out either. The penne arrabbiata had no spice or heat, was super sour, and the Rosie ravioli was extremely bland. Although, the cakes were absolutely amazing, fresh and flavourful, and easily the highlight of the visit. If you’re stopping by, I’d recommend going just for dessert and coffee, and the overall cozy, rustic vibe.

4 Star Rating Such a charming atmosphere, the entire vibe suspended me. Good music, lighting, and lived-in setup. The food was just ok but not bad. The prosciutto sandwich wasn't vibrant and lacked coherence. Just average. I'd still come back with company though, this is an excellent spot to sit, lay back and chat over a meal. The menu offers a good selection of breakfast foods, sandwiches, pizzas, some other things and drinks, so there's a whole lot to choose from. The service was very friendly but so so so slow. Horrifically slow. Finally I found the the overall cost to be expensive for what we ordered. Again, this wouldn't detract me from coming back, it's a sweet place. But it's worth noting.

4 Star Rating I love that this place is open 24 hours! We went at 4 a.m. and tried the breakfast — surprisingly, it included a steak, which was high quality and didn’t feel heavy at all. We also tried the pasta, which was amazing, and their black tea was perfect. The atmosphere is really nice, though I wish they paid a bit more attention to the interior decor. Overall, a lovely place with delicious food .definitely recommend.

5 Star Rating We went to The Office trivia night and it was alot of fun. Great atmosphere and a good selection of food. We got the nachos and mini donuts to share, both were really good. The trivia was a great activity to do with a group of friends, they host all sorts of genres during the week so you'll definitely find something you'll enjoy. The trivia night is held on the second floor, so there isn't interference from guest in the main restaurant.

3 Star Rating Went to the Pilot to catch up with a few friends and ate on the rooftop patio, which had a really solid vibe. Unfortunately some construction is being done on the building next door so not much of a view but the patio has a nice breeze and open sky, and some TVs around as well so you can watch sports. Food was okay. Decided to try the special jambalaya for $22 which had chicken and shrimp. It was a bit bland but the portion was pretty decent. Service was okay. Not bad by any stretch and the staff here are pretty friendly, but would just suggest as a teaching point that when tables are running low on water that you proactively refill it. Especially when minimum suggested tip is 18% 😬. Decent spot though if you're looking for a rooftop patio where you can get some sun or watch some sports!

5 Star Rating I have been coming to this Tim Hortons all throughout my undergrad at U of T since I lived nearby, and now that I commute I still pass through Holt Renfrew Centre almost every day. This has always been one of my go-to spots because the staff are friendly and hardworking. That being said, the location is small and often feels understaffed, which slows things down during the morning rush. It also constantly smells burnt inside, which makes waiting less pleasant. Today I ordered a Pumpkin Spice Latte at 10:09 a.m. and it took over 15 minutes. When I politely asked about it, another customer rudely cut me off. To make things worse, my drink was not called out and was just placed on the counter without informing me. I almost left thinking it was not coming, and I ended up wasting time waiting for no reason. By the time I realized, I was already late for class while people who ordered after me had already been served. The latte itself tasted great once I finally got it, and that is why I am still giving 4 stars. This location has been my favourite for years, but I hope they address the burnt smell and improve communication during busy times so customers do not feel overlooked.

3 Star Rating Great location. Very friendly and attentive staff. Great decor. Patio seatings available. Food was quite basic - home fries were chunky and lacked flavour, omelette lacked substance (like eggs were watered down / made from instant) and toasts were barely toasted. For sure there was room for improvement on the food front but servers kinna offset for the dining experience.

5 Star Rating Great little breakfast spot with a cozy, family-friendly vibe. We ordered a mix of dishes — scrambled eggs, an omelette with potatoes, turkey bacon, toast, and fresh orange juice. Everything tasted fresh and hearty, and the portions were generous. My only disappointment was that they didn’t have chai latte at this location (😭), so I settled for English breakfast tea instead. Still, the food made up for it. The kids loved the coloring activity while we waited, which kept them entertained. Would definitely come back for another classic breakfast!

5 Star Rating I recently had the pleasure of dining at Sunset Grill and was completely blown away. The restaurant lives up to its name, providing a bright and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel instantly welcome. From the moment we walked in, the service was outstanding. All the servers were incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were prompt with refills and checked on us just enough—not too much, not too little—to ensure we had everything we needed. It was clear that the staff takes pride in their work. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. I ordered the classic breakfast—the eggs were perfectly cooked, the bacon was crisp, and the home fries were seasoned just right. My companion had the French toast, which was thick, fluffy, and tasted divine. The quality of the ingredients truly shines through, making it easily one of the best breakfast and brunch spots I’ve visited.

4 Star Rating Stopped by Lee Chen for a weekend meal a couple weeks ago and had a lovely experience. We ordered a few dishes including chow mein, Szechuan fish and garlic fried Bok Choy. We got steamed rice on the side. My favorite dish was the chow mein. The fried thin noodles are lovely and well stir fried. There's a good flavor here that's great comfort food. The only issue I had is that the quantity is a little on the low side for the price. $15 for stir fried noodles could have been a little more on quantity, especially without any protein added. The fish is a bit on the spicy side and it was a little powdery for my liking. The coating here is also a bit soggy for this type of dish. I didn't mind it but I don't think I would order it again. The greens were excellent. Simple and delicious flavours here with garlic. Really enjoyed this dish too. The service here was nice. The hostess is lovely and friendly making us feel comfortable and welcomed. Overall this is a lovely spot for a nice meal. I think I would try some of the meat dishes and dumplings that are more popular. Recommend supporting this local Toronto spot.

5 Star Rating I became hungry enroute to the nearby library, I spotted this place and decided it was the better option over the Canadian founded coffee shop across the street. I went for the wings. The narrow setup makes it a tight squeeze while inside. It was a bit of a wait. The wing container kept the food hot with no need to rewarm. If ever I'm in the area, I'll stop in again. The wait was worth it.

5 Star Rating Went to O’Noir for my boyfriends 31st birthday and it was such an incredible experience from start to finish. Dining in the dark was so unique and really made us slow down and enjoy every bite and every moment. We chose the surprise option for everything on the menu and were not disappointed at all – every dish tasted amazing and it was so fun trying to guess what we were eating. The atmosphere felt cozy, intimate, and fun all at once – definitely not your average dinner out and totally worth trying at least once. Our server, Ali, was absolutely phenomenal. He made us feel comfortable right away, explained everything clearly, and checked in on us at all the right times without ever breaking the experience. You could tell he genuinely cared that we were having a great night. Between the amazing service, the surprise dishes, and the unforgettable concept, I’d highly recommend O’Noir for any special occasion or date night. We’ll definitely be back! 🌟

3 Star Rating I have heard about ONoir's restaurant concept for a while now and finally had a chance to try it. The concept is unique so it is worthwhile to try for the sensory experience, but the food was mediocre. The entrance is located at the bottom of multiple steep steps into a basement. There is a lounge/bar space before the dining room whdre you can review the menus and select your meal with the staff before you are then led into the darkness. The setup when you arrive is easy to understand and comfortable as you come into the dining room to be seated. There is no ambient music so the background noise will end up being other tables and guests in the dining room. Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing and is the reason why I hesitate to recommend ONoir to someone else. We had select the the two-course with an appetizer and main. We started with bread and butter in the sealed plastic containers. Bread was good, but the butter we wish was presented better. For the appetizers you only can select surprise options, which was exciting until we received it. My friend ordered a risotto for her main and was disappointed to find her appetizer was a curry with rice. The culinary level was not what you expect from a restaurant but more like something you quickly make at home. My salad was a simple garden salad with pickled vegetables but the taste and texture wasn't impressive. Thankfully the main dish I had chosen which was the filet mignon with mashed potatoes was actually well cooked and delicious. The vegetables included with it were not great as they were smaller pieces reminding me of the vegetables in the salad. My friend had the risotto which was fine, but it was a but too salty. We were full, but but not impressed by the meal. I would not consider this as good food for a Toronto restaurant. I really wish they were more inventive with the food for the sensory experience. More smells, sounds, texture in the meal. Smoky, sizzly, crunchy? Maybe it is available in other dishes and we were just unlucky in our choices? We felt the food was very basic so I cannot recommend it for the meal. I wouldn't mind the concept for a beer or cocktail with a friend to have a conversation, as long as the food is not involved. The space allowed you to focus on the conversation especially with all of today's technological distractions. The service from our waiter was wonderful which is why I regret not being able to give this place a higher rating. I know my review will likely not change years of cooking at this restaurant, but my honest recommendation is to please improve the food. You have a great concept, but the food (especially the surprise appetzer) is mediocre in comparison and makes the sensory experience you have designed fall flat.

5 Star Rating I went with a friend and we had a 3 course meal. Our server, unfortunately we forgot his name, was so kind and helpful, patient and explained everything to us so that we could have an enjoyable experience eating in the dark. Though it was initially a little unsettling to be sitting in the pitch black, we ended up adjusting quickly and found the atmosphere really fun! The food was incredible, we believe we had chicken curry on rice as the appetizer, which we both really liked. We both had the filet mignon and agreed that it was one of the best steaks we’ve ever had as well. The chocolate cake was also very tasty, and I had a lemon cake (of some sort) as the surprise dessert. Overall, we loved the experience and would definitely return!!!

3 Star Rating This A&W is located in a rather run-down food court. It’s probably not their fault, but the overall environment didn’t feel very clean or safe. Honestly, even good food might not taste as good in that kind of atmosphere. The food itself was just okay. The menu also seemed quite limited — maybe it’s a smaller selection designed for food court locations. There seemed to be a few rather unique customers, and at one point, someone who appeared to be the manager came out from the kitchen to handle something, looking quite busy.

5 Star Rating Forgot to take a picture before I dig in. Hidden gem at the food court at Bloor Station. Heathy food with good price. I ordered number 2, it came with yellow rice, one big piece of white fish and salad with hummus and sour cream. Only $13.❤️ Very tasty and healthy. I’m highly recommend this and support local. The lady and the gentleman at the counter are very nice, great attitude and excellent customer service. Made fresh and very clean, will absolutely come back to try another menu. Just at the food court, might get busy during lunch time but plenty of seats to share with others.

5 Star Rating Love this salad place. They have limited hours but when i get the chance to grab lunch, i run to this location vs going to the food court down the corridor. Healthy meals, generous portions, well priced and the service is excellent. Great healthy lunch option.
