How to get from Toronto Pearson Airport to Downtown Toronto by public transit

Updated on December, 30 2021

If you fly into Toronto, some hotels will provide pick-up service at the airport, however it is also easy to get to any of the downtown hotels using Toronto transit buses and the subway or the new UP Express train which operates between Pearson Airport and Union Station.

#900 Airport Express Bus and Subway - Least expensive option, but slower

Bus #900 Airport Express Bus serves Terminals 1 and 3 with quick express service south to Kipling Station on the Bloor-Danforth Line. From there you can take the subway into the downtown core; transferring to the Yonge-University-Spadina Line at St. George or Bloor-Yonge Station as needed to get to your hotel.

Service on 900 Airport Express operates from 5:30 am until 2:00 am every day except Sunday when service starts at about 8:15 am. Frequency is between 10 and 20 minutes depending on the time of day.

If you need to travel between 2 am and 5 am, you can take the 300A Bloor-Danforth Night Bus which parallels the Bloor-Danforth line into downtown Toronto and takes about 45 minutes from the airport.

Travel time between Kipling Station and Pearson airport is about 25 minutes. Total travel time from Pearson Airport to downtown Toronto via the 900 Express Bus and the Subway is approximately one hour including connections.

For more information on airport transportation between Toronto Pearson International Airport and downtown Toronto by bus and subway see TTC Airport Transportation on the oficial TTC website.

Union Pearson Express - More expensive, but quick and convenient

More convenient and faster than the bus-subway combination, the Union Pearson Express train will get you into downtown Toronto in just 25 minutes, which is great, but, for two people or a family, it can rival the cost of sharing a cab. It is quicker than a cab, especially when traffic is heavy, which, in Toronto, is most of the time. It is especially convenient if you are carrying alot of luggage with you, as the trains provide a place to stow your luggage during your trip.

The UP Express operates every 15 minutes and has just two stops between Union Station and the Airport, one at Weston Road And Lawrence Avenue West and the other at Bloor Street West and Dundas Street West where you can connect to the Bloor-Danforth Subway line. The first train departs at 5:27am and the last at 12:57am.

You will find the station located at Terminal 1 adjacent to the Link Train platform which connects Terminal 3 and Terminal 1. If you're arriving on a domestic flight you'll need to make your way to Terminal 1 via the Link Train. The Union Pearson Express service counter can be found in Terminal 1 International Arrivals level hall.
