Well, I'm not sure I'll be back again soon :(
I've been coming to fran's for almost 10 years specifically for their chicken and waffles. They have always been white meat & boneless and I loved the seasoned batter they used. Perfect flavour combos and easy to gobble up.
I hadn't been able to visit for a while as my brother has been very sick, but took the time to go today as a treat. The menu listing didnt seem to indicate anything had changed, but when we were brought our food, we learned they swapped boneless chicken breasts for bone-in dark meat (1 drumstick and 1 thigh).
It seems silly but we were so disappointed. My partner decided to keep their order anyways but our server was kind enough to let me order something else. It seems like it has much less actual meat now on top of being harder to eat, and it really changes the overall flavour. It also seems the price went up a bit (19.99 now vs i believe 18.99 before) on top of using cheaper meat.
Really, really disappointed. If an option was added to allow patrons to order the old style with boneless breast meat instead I would happily return. But tbh, it's out of my way and we mostly went for the chicken and waffles so I suspect I won't have a reason to return anytime soon.

We ordered the French toast with berries and the white sauce pasta, and both were a hit. The pasta especially stood out — the sauce was super buttery, rich, and amazing. Comfort food done right.
The service was good and attentive, which made the experience even better. The overall vibe gives major ’90s sitcom energy — cozy, nostalgic, and the kind of place you’d want to hang out at for a relaxed meal.
Loved it. A great spot for comfort food, good service, and classic diner vibes.

I enjoyed the vibe, the waiter was amazing. You can tell they're extremely overworked, and yet they were still nice! Honestly the food wasn't the greatest experience. Their honey mustard sauce is just toasted sugar. No taste of honey or mustard. It was too sweet. The pie was good tho the crust was a little too gummy. But the ice cream was a 10/10. I may come back and try other things, the ribs were great!

Stopped by Fran's Restaurant yesterday for the first time. We were seated promptly and our food came pretty quickly. Although there is a limited selection of gluten-friendly options (you have to ask the server for what's available), I was able to order an omelette and gluten-friendly home-fries (these are different, and smaller, than the regular home fries - but you get a lot). My companions had a traditional breakfast, and liver and onions. Our server, Lucia, was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was great; the missing star is for the state of the washrooms. Will return when I'm in the mood for another omelette. It was tasty!

Fran’s is a solid spot if you’re around the college area. The service is friendly and usually pretty quick, even when it’s busy. The place has that classic diner vibe—casual and comfortable, nothing fancy but welcoming. The menu is big with lots of options, from all-day breakfast to burgers and comfort food. Portions are generous and prices are reasonable for the area. Great for grabbing a late-night meal or a casual bite with friends.

The price of the beer here is honestly surprising.
It’s so cheap that I had actually avoided coming before, wondering what kind of beer they might be serving.
But when I finally visited, the beer was perfectly normal and enjoyable.
In today’s Toronto — especially downtown — it’s surprising to find a place with prices this low.
We also tried several dishes, and the chicken wings were especially good in my opinion.
Even on a weekday, the place was nearly full and very lively with younger crowds.
It’s definitely not a date spot, but it’s perfect if you want to grab some cheap drinks and have a fun time with friends.

Main highlight and reason you should come here is for this and this alone: the wild slider.
For just 20.99 you'll get a plate of four sliders made of: bison, elk, boar and kangaroo burgers! Which to me is such a steal for that price.
If you're someone who is adventurous and willing to try exotic meets this is a random spot in Toronto to do it!

I’ve been going here for 12 years or so.
It’s stood the test of time and inflation.
Go for cheap beers and happy hour food. Truly is hard to beat.

Novel selection of proteins, and good prices for downtown! The service was great. They have a patio and the inside was clean. I think their burgers could get to the next level with a solid bun, but that's just me being super critical. This is a solid spot, and I recommend it.
Brent Brockerville - 10 months ago
Ordered the Classic Smash Burger with a side of fries. The service for early dinner was quick, and our server was pleasant. The interior is as you'd expect from a bar/restaurant, and was pretty well maintained.
However, for a place with "burger" in the name their burgers are unfortunately lackluster. The size of the burger for the price you pay is as you'd expect, if a little on the smaller size. Taste wise though, there is nothing that really stands out about the sandwich. The patty is fine, the buns are whatever, and the signature sauce they use isn't anything to write home about. In addition, the fries are too limp for me to recommend - you'd probably find better crispiness out of air frying your own at home.
In the restaurant's defense, it appears to focus more on the bar than food, but from the experience I had I would not bother returning to try another dish.

I’ve been coming to this classic izakaya for over ten years, and I’m still obsessed. It’s packed almost every night, and from 5–7pm they have Happy Hour with super affordable drinks and snacks — definitely worth coming for.
They also have $5 hand rolls (such a steal!), and a special Omakase set every month that’s only $45. The service is always great, the food is consistently delicious, and the vibe is amazing. Truly one of my all-time favorite izakayas.

A nice, vibrant, youthful atmosphere to enjoy delicious Asian cuisine. Perfect place for birthday celebration with friends, or a lovely date night. I had a lovely time hanging out here, eating, laughing, and tasting a variety of dishes. The serving was good enough to make me full me up. Shout out to Supang who delivered great customer service. It made for a memorable evening. Place can be a bit noisy though. I love the special way they celebrate birthdays- you will feel special if you love spotlight. It was a fun time and I will be back!

Kinka Izakaya was busy when we visited, but the service was fast and attentive — we never had to flag anyone down and everything arrived exactly when expected. The staff clearly knows what they’re doing even on a packed night. The food was great — well-prepared, flavorful, and exactly what we hoped for from a Japanese izakaya experience. Would recommend for anyone looking for lively atmosphere and solid food.

My first time having an omakase set and it did not disappoint! I found myself full with delicious foods! If i were to change one thing it would be the price- in my case, it was $45 for a set but a lot of it was vegetarian dishes. I wish a bit of adjustments are made in the future to compensate but otherwise I had a great time in such a lovely and cozy environment!

One of the best izakayas in the city, Kinka Izakaya Original truly never disappoints. I’ve been here many times and every single time I have had an amazing time curated by the attentive staff and the delicious food. The udon dish was so beautifully sauced and the sushi was very fresh. I’m a big fan of their wasabi octopus, it’s generally one of my favourite dishes and they were able to perfectly capture the desired smokiness without it being too overwhelming. An amazing experience overall!

Tasty Pizza, But Needs Improvement in Service and Hygiene
I recently visited Pizza Pizza and would give them 4 stars. The pizza was tasty, with a good balance of flavors and a nice, crispy crust. It's clear they know how to make a great pizza.
However, there's room for improvement in customer service and hygiene. The staff could be more attentive and friendly, as the service felt a bit rushed and impersonal. Additionally, the cleanliness of the dining area could be better maintained.
Overall, the pizza is worth the visit, but I hope they work on enhancing the customer experience and cleanliness in the future.

Love their daily deals, all day happy hour and the flavourful veg options!! I wouldn’t want anything to change in this place, especially the ambiance.
One of their regular staff, Carl, has always been super helpful with our food customization and drink recommendations. We loved their Avocado Toasts from the previous menu and Carl made sure we get it the way we loved the most!

Great spot for a quick bite and drinks after work. Always a fun time here. Food and drinks are tasty and reasonably priced, and the ambiance strikes the right balance (think classy without being pretentious). Suitable for all ages. The servers are consistently friendly too. Big shout-out to Jason, he’s amazing and always makes us feel welcome!

Wasn’t expecting too much, but the food was genuinely a surprise. Pizzas are excellent. Good crust, cheese has a chew and sauce has depth. Nachos were good though smaller than I’d expected for the price. Cannot go wrong with any pizza choice though. Service was excellent and the beer selection is solid!

I had a great experience at this restaurant, and a big part of that was thanks to our server Carl. They were incredibly attentive, friendly, and made sure we felt welcomed from the moment we sat down. Our drinks and food came out quickly, and they checked in just the right amount without being overbearing. They were also very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great recommendations. You can tell they genuinely care about providing good service. Overall, they made our visit even more enjoyable — I’d definitely come back and hope to be served by them again

This was a great night with good food, a fun interactive show and lots of laughs! Mysteriously Yours did a great job of keeping the audience connected and involved, with several guests getting short lines/jokes to say as part of the show. The actors were friendly and very upbeat, keeping the show moving and interesting. We had a great night! My only complaint was the price of refreshments - ABSURD!! $8.50 for a can of ginger ale!!! Not a case of 12, ONE CAN!! A round of drinks for 6 people (one being a pop) was $115!!! That's ridiculous!!! I believe that's the venue (Chelsea Hotel), not necessarily M.Y. The show was wonderful though!!! 5* for the actors!!!
Dave Kurdell - 4 months ago
Considering the price this was an extremely low effort production. The show was in a hotel conference room with no set, stage, or any sort of vibe. The actors tried hard to make lemonade. The food was a buffet… it was ok. There was salad, veggies, potato mash, pasta salad, chicken breast and salmon. Dessert was mini cupcakes. I heard they used to have an actual location and it looks like all the photos are from that era. Overall I felt it was not worth the price.

This sushi restaurant delivered an excellent experience from start to finish, with fresh, high-quality ingredients and beautifully presented rolls that tasted just as good as they looked. The staff here also are very friendly, patient, and kind! Their services are truly amazing, making this place a must-visit for anyone who loves sushi! Truly a 5 star place.

Overall a very solid place.
Especially when after 4pm they offer the “buy 1 get 1 free” so that’s very ideal.
Sometimes though the staff don’t seem happy / they try to rush you to make your picks even if there aren’t others in the store.
But I’ve yet to find a place in Toronto where you can get 2 proper sushi containers for $10 (again with the 4pm discount), and I’ve been to places where it was more expensive but wasn’t as good. So yeah: fairly solid :)

This is a great bar.
We were in the area and stopped by for a drink or two.
I’ve walked past the building many times, but since the bar is on the third floor, you can’t see inside from the street, so I never knew what the atmosphere was like.
I’m glad we finally decided to check it out.
The interior is warm, clean, and has a high ceiling that gives the space a nice, open feel.
There are bar seats, tables, and sofa seating, making it suitable for both small groups and larger gatherings.
Happy hour runs from 4 PM to 8 PM, and on Sundays it’s offered all day.
I’d love to come back and take my time here next time.

Take a few flights of stairs and a few flights await at the top deck. It's a unique space where they do open the windows wide open for a bit of a breeze on a steamy day. Wings were decent but the so called massive nachos were soggy. Beer on tap was served lukewarm too.

We hosted our holiday party here on November 28th, and wow—what an amazing experience! The rooftop space was surprisingly spacious, with great lighting, cozy heating, and an open-concept layout that made it super easy for everyone to mingle… or sneak off to a comfy spot to enjoy their food in peace. 😄
Huge thanks to the team for accommodating us on such short notice. They truly went above and beyond—everything ran smoothly, the food was great, and the service was exceptional from start to finish. You could tell the staff cared about every little detail, and our whole team felt well taken care of.
We’re already hoping to make this our go-to spot for future events. Until next time, thank you for the warm hospitality and for making our party such a memorable success! 🎉

Visited Fran’s Rooftop Bar for breakfast before starting a road trip. We arrived just as they opened, and the views were absolutely amazing. The ambiance was great, making for a pleasant morning setting.
The service was attentive; our server was quick to meet all our needs. We ordered the classic breakfast, Benedict, and chicken and waffle. While nothing particularly blew us away, everything was solid and met our expectations.
Portions were generous and the prices were reasonable, which we really appreciated. Overall, Fran’s Rooftop Bar is a fantastic breakfast spot in Toronto for a weekend meal, especially if you’re looking for a place with a homey feel, tasty food, and great decor.

Was about to go down to catch our TTC and happened to see this place. We thought hey, let's go upstairs at Fran's and have a drink. We walked in and the stairs quickly told us that this was NOT Fran's. We had found the Rooftop Bar. So glad we stopped in. They have a nice selection of drinks, great staff and a welcoming venue. Good sense of humor with some things around the bar and nice daily specials/happy hour deals.

Having the option to make a custom salad, wrap or box is genius, since I've found this place, I come back every day. Friendly staff who are actually passionate about food makes the experience way more inviting then most. Highly recommend you visit Salus.
