Had brunch here close to 10 times now. Have tried several different dishes and they all very good. The quality of food was consistent, considering We have ordered the fry up at least 5 times.

Food was good. Service was even better. We nearly walked right on by because the food pictured on the sign wasn't especially appealing (note to owner: considering changing your sign and getting new photos). But we were crunched for time so we went with it and glad we did. The staff were all absolutely lovely. And the food was all very good. Not the best I've ever eaten, but good flavors and solid for the price. Eating at the tables on the sidewalk was an added bonus on a beautiful summer evening.

I enjoyed this place. I thought the food was really good, I had the special which was curried chicken great flavour and just the right amount of heat. My wife had the fried chicken (come hungry)I got to eat 1/3 which was awesome as fried chicken is something I never order. It was really good, chicken was moist and the batter wasn't a salt bomb it had like a Thanksgiving stuffing vibe. This dish was recommended by the bartender. The fries were also very good. The only thing on that dish I didn't like was the slaw to acidic. But I wasn't really going to eat that anyway. The one thing I will mention is service is a little confusing all of the servers came to the table to take orders. All were were kind and attentive it just felt a little confusing. I think server sections might work better. All and I would recommend.

Best cocktails. Love the ambience. The General Manager and chefs make sure you have a great time with food. Tiramisu pancakes on their brunch menu are the highlight. Great portion size and amazing flavours. Loved the plant based burger as well. Will always recommend if you are looking for perfect food and drinks. Their beer on tap and wine collection is worth a try too!

I’ve been coming to this neighbourhood spot for years now, and it honestly never disappoints. It’s just such a reliable place on the Danforth when you want a solid meal without any fuss. The vibe is always welcoming. If you go, just get the Morgans Burger or the southern fried chicken!! it's consistently one of the best I've had in the city. Just real, honest food done right.

Great place to hang out with friends, moke some shisha, watch sports or if you are lucky get to play FIFA on their playstation! Hookah is good, but most importantly its a great cozy atmosphere for hanging out with friends!

Grabbed coffee with a couple friends here Saturday morning and the patio out back ended up being the perfect spot to just sit and catch up for two hours. I had the maple pecan scone and it was still warm, not overly sweet, genuinely one of the better pastries I've had in Elgin. The staff remembered my friend's oat milk order from a previous visit which is a small thing but it stuck with me. Street parking was easy to find even though it was busy, so no complaints there either.

I loved the food and the cozy ambience offered at Maple Cafe. The service was exceptional and Mary who is the owner is so kind and very friendly with customers. The moment I walked in I was treated with a delicious plate of lamb and injera and sweet cup of maple tea. 😊 The beautiful music in the background gives you this cozy feeling as if you just stepped in Eritrea. I had a wonderful and unforgettable experience here. I would definitely recommend this place 100 % Come and enjoy with friends and family this summer.

I visited Sala Modern Thai Kitchen (1262 Danforth Avenue) for a Father’s Day dinner, a thoughtful treat arranged by my boys who made the reservation and ensured the restaurant could accommodate our preference for vegan dishes.Sala is a small, intimate establishment with seating for roughly 25–30 guests. Despite its size, it has a warm and inviting atmosphere. From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by a friendly, smiling waitress who set a positive tone for the evening. The table setup included six different types of spices, a nice detail that added to the dining experience.For appetizers, we ordered the vegan spring rolls, while my boys chose the calamari. Both dishes were fresh, well‑prepared, and enjoyed by everyone at the table.For my main course, I ordered the Pad Kee Mao(Vegan), and it was exceptional; flavourful, perfectly seasoned, and generously portioned. There wasn’t a single bite left on my plate. We had originally planned to order dessert, but the portion sizes were so satisfying that we simply had no room left.The service throughout the evening was excellent. Both waitresses were attentive, welcoming, and genuinely hospitable, making us feel comfortable and well cared for. Overall, Sala Modern Thai Kitchen is a hidden gem on the Danforth. Had Sala Modern Thai Kitchen again for the first time since before the pandemic, and it was a solid, reliable takeout option. A friend recently ordered it for a small get-together, and it worked really well as a quick, local choice. We had the spring rolls, Chicken Green Curry, and Chicken Chef Mo Pad Thai. Everything tasted just as consistent as I remembered. Flavours were balanced, portions were good, and it held up well as takeout. It’s not necessarily my go-to when I’m specifically craving Thai food, but for convenience and consistency, it delivers. Definitely something I’d have again in a similar setting.

Their Sala Pad Thai with shrimp ($24) is what keeps me coming back. Diners can choose between glass or rice noodles, and I always opt for rice - the flatter shape clings better to the sauce and minced peanuts. The noodles are cooked just right, retaining a pleasant chew, and coated in just enough of that sweet, sour, and savoury tamarind sauce to flavour the dish without drowning it. The wok hay still shines through. True to form, it arrives wrapped in a delicate lattice egg crepe, which is not essential for flavour, but undeniably pretty and giving the dish a regal finish. On a previous visit, I made the mistake of ordering dishes too spicy. This time, the server seemed to instinctively know better and brought the khao pad tom yum with chicken ($21) at a medium spice level. The fried rice was a full-on flavour bomb: punchy tom yum paste layered with aromatic onions, peppers, and fresh herbs. And the aroma? Absolutely intoxicating. I’d highly recommend splurging a little and ordering from the “premium beef” section. The khaw waan beef green curry ($27.50) uses “finger beef,” a well-marbled cut carved from between rib bones. The result is deeply flavourful, incredibly tender meat with a luscious gelatinous ribbon of cartilage that adds richness. Green curry can often become too sweet or heavy on coconut, but Sala strikes the balance beautifully. It’s creamy without being nauseating, with bold curry flavours still front and centre. The sauce is excellent spooned over the cone of steamed rice and soaking into the tender eggplant scattered throughout. Since my first visit, portion sizes have noticeably increased… we left with a doggy bag of leftovers. Everything arrives well-seasoned on its own, but for those who like to tweak, Sala offers a set of “flavour boosters” so you can dial up the salty, sweet, sour, or spicy elements. Personally, I didn’t touch them and found the food didn’t need any extra help.

Amazing service!! The servers were incredibly kind 💜 The food was also very tasty, and the portion sizes were very generous 👍🏼 We will definitely be coming back again 😍 By the time we finished our dishes, we were all extremely full and even had to take some leftovers home. They were also kind enough to keep our birthday cake for us and even offered a complimentary birthday dessert on the house 💜 Such a lovely experience!

If you're in the East end, consider going to Sala Thai for some authentic Thai food that screams comfort and joy. Located just steps away from Greenwood station on the Danforth, this cozy and quaint restaurant is the epitome of comfort. First off, the main dishes feature complex Thai flavors that are the perfect balance. They're just the right level of salty, sweet, spicy without being too overpowering. We've been a few times and all the dishes we've tried are divine. Today, we had the Pad See Ew (thick noodles with veggies, we chose chicken, other options available), pineapple fried rice (luscious chunks of pineapple), and pineapple curry (not too spicy with fragrant coconut for the perfect balance). Dishes have options for meat or vegetables. Drinks - we tried their Thai ice tea and iced green tea. Wow! Mind blown. Sweet and fragrant and just so so delicious. Wish I had more words at my disposal to express how tasty this was. Oh...we also tried their coconut rice (available as a side or upgrade) as well as the Thai roti (light, fried, and so so good) Finished dinner off with their buddy dessert combo, homemade ice cream folks! A must try. We had the coconut ice cream but the surprise was the sweet glutinous rice that the ice cream sits on. Honestly, never had this combo before and I think I'm officially addicted! It also came with a roti sandwiched with Nutella and sautéed banana. Warm, rich, and made us all so happy. FYI - nuts are present in certain dishes. Staff will ask if you're allergic but keep that in mind as an FYI. For spice lovers, your table will have a tray of assorted toppings to accent your dish from super spicy to tart spicy and sugar to balance it all out. We didn't use them though. The food was way too tasty as is! Atmosphere - quaint and cozy and you could accidentally sit here for hours sitting, eating, chatting without realizing time has passed. Staff, honestly are warm, professional, and really attentive and helpful. If you have questions about the food, ask and they'll be happy to help. One point to note, depending on the day and time, Sala can be very busy. The restaurant is small so you may have to wait for a table. We will be back? Most definitely since we've already been there several times 😁😁

Took my family here for our first try at Ethiopian food. First off, the restaurant is quite lovely with the decor, artistically painted walls and ambiance, felt very authentic. The service was friendly and fast and our food came as ordered. We got a platter for 2, chicken tibs and quanta fifir. I'm a big protein lover so the quanta fifir was my favourite. The food tasted great and the service was quick and friendly. I wasn't a huge fan of the injera bread but my wife and kids enjoyed it. The food tasted fresh and the portion sizes were quite generous. The coffee was top notch.

We were a group of four, including one vegan. For a Saturday night, the service was excellent and the atmosphere was lively. Our food arrived within a reasonable time and everything was delicious. We ordered the chicken and lamb platter for two, which was easily enough for three people, especially since they continuously serve fresh injera. The injera was perfectly made — soft, not too thick, and thankfully not ice cold. Each curry had its own distinct flavour. My favourites were the chicken and mixed beans dishes. They were spicy, but absolutely delicious. The lamb was tender and mild in spice. Our vegan friend ordered the vegetarian platter for one and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. We didn’t have time to try the coffee ceremony, so we’ll definitely be back!

Wow… where do I even begin… What an absolutely delightful experience I had at Lalibela’s! The food, service, and atmosphere were all wonderful. I love the Ethiopian aesthetic and cultural artifacts everywhere… it really makes you feel like you are dining in Ethiopia (: The restaurant is so clean I felt like I was eating at someone’s house… I ordered the vegetarian platter for one. The presentation was beautifully served on a traditional Ethiopian plate… every bite is seriously packed with delicious flavour. Ethiopian cuisine really is something to experience. The flavours are beautifully balanced between mild, tangy, and spicy. The vegetarian platter featured a vibrant assortment of vegan stews and vegetables served over Injera — a slightly sour fermented flatbread with a spongy texture. The Injera is the foundation of this dish… it acts as a plate, absorbing all of the flavours layered on top, and it is the main ‘utensil’ you eat with. Every bite is a perfect combination. The veggie assortment features spicy red lentils (my favourite :O), curry potatoes + carrots & cabbage, garlicky kale, curry split peas, spiced chickpea stew, tomato salad, and beets. Accompanying this dish was a refreshing glass of guava juice. Overall I had a fantastic experience (: Definitely recommend to all who want to experience authentic Ethiopian cuisine in an authentic Ethiopian environment. Lalibela’s is a gem on the Danforth. አመሰግናለሁ Special thank you to the chef and waiters :)

The food was ok. Not particularly memorable but in terms of authenticity I can’t judge that as I am no expert. Personally not a fan the injera being served cold. The service was pretty slow as there was only one person attending the entire place. It’s pretty spicy so make sure you choose wisely if you have low tolerance.

The traditional food here is honestly some of the best Ethiopian cooking in town. Everything feels authentic and the ingredients taste really fresh. The cultural atmosphere makes the whole experience feel genuine too. Their family platters are the best in Toronto, great for sharing with a group. The staff are friendly and welcoming without being over the top. Knowing it's Halal friendly makes it an easy choice for a lot of people.

I dont usually eat Ethiopian food but my friend and I decided fo try. We ordered lamb and ground beef cooked medium. It was delicious, super flavourful. The lamb had a lemon flavour and the beef was a bit spicy. Both super good with injera. We asked the waitress for help in ordering and she was friendly and helpful. The restaurant was packed so that was a good sign. The only thing that threw me off was the smoke. I think some people did shish and I didnt know that was okay in the restaurant. Overall, food was great.

Great place. Had the platter with Beef strips. All tasted great and they even had Gluten free ingera (made from Teff flour). Not spicy, could have been a little more bit. The meat strips had great taste but were really not a good cut of meet. Tons of fat and tendons because some prices I couldn’t even tear apart. The coffee tastes good and it was strong. Overall good place. It’s small but cozy.

Sora Restaurant is fantastic! The food was excellent—especially the kutfu, which I 100% recommend trying. Every bite was delicious. Our server, Messi was amazing! She was so kind, friendly, and attentive, making the experience even better.We had a wonderful time and can’t wait to go back. Highly recommend!

I made a reservation for my family to celebrate my daughter's 19th birthday. I had noted this when I made the online reservation but forgot by the time we went. It was a Friday so the restaurant was quite busy and service was expectedly a little slow but that’s the only remotely negative comment I could make. Think of having a leisurely evening out where you’re not rushed to free up a table. We ordered two veggie platters and the lamb key wot with potatoes. The food was delicious, filling and very reasonably priced! They keep brining more injera when you need it. The staff are lovely and sweet. When we asked for the bill the waitress leaned in to discreetly ask if it was okay if my daughter had champagne. I said yes. Soon after we heard the background music switch to a birthday song and a waitress came out with a beautiful tray carrying a champagne bottle, a champagne flute, four other cups, and a candle tea light. It was so pretty and unexpected. They did not charge us for the champagne. The food was delicious, ambience warm, and the staff are lovely! This is hands down the best Ethiopian restaurant in Toronto and they made my daughter feel special on her birthday. I highly recommend!

The atmosphere was amazing! The ambiance brings you out of the city and into Africa with Drum tables, African live singers and DJ, Beautiful people. It’s a clean and happy place. They stay open late, full bar, parking was easy. The service was lovely, fast and friendly thank you Ruth🥰. The coffee ceremony appeals to all your senses before the first sip, as the presentation was spectacular and a must with every meal even late at night. It’s definitely the true traditional Ethiopian way. The roasted beans 🫘 smells the environment, the smoke takes you to the dream land where you land in Africa and sip your coffee and eat your popcorn as they do back home. The food bursts with flavours you want to enjoy every moment, every bite with your hands you delightfully pinch 🤏🏾, giggle with glee and hmmmm savour. What a delicious experience. The food is halal. I had the veggie platter. It exploded 💥 flavours in my mouth which only drips 💧 now with the thought of it…Absolutely delicious. My first experience of Ethiopian cuisine. A definite must have. I will try the meat next time! I will explore the whole menu. I forgot there was no meat in it. It was so good and huge servings so bring a friend and share a dish or 3. Bon appetite 💖

Dinner before Coal Mine Theatre 🎭 and this was perfect. Asked for a recommendation as it was our first time here. We (2 of us) ordered a Solo Beef Combination (comes with 4 veg dishes), Ye Meser Wot, and 2 Negra Modelo 🍻 for $56. Fresh. Delicious. Beautiful. Definitely will return.

This is one of my favourite spots in Toronto. Whenever guests come from out of town, I bring them here and we always have a fantastic time. The service is welcoming and attentive, and the food is homey and delicious. My favourites are the vegetarian platter and kitfo. The balance of salts, spices, and fat is always perfect. There are a lot of great Ethiopian gems along the Danforth, but this one stands out due to consistent service and food.

Great little hidden gem on the Danforth! My first time visiting. The inside has a very rustic and fun atmosphere. We sat outside on their mini patio. Great attentive service. Excellent food suggestions. No reservations but we only waited about 5-7min for a table. Loved it.

This place!! Food = 10/10. Loved the fish tacos, and everyone enjoyed their meals. They were also great with our kiddo and had a perfect meal option for him (he gobbled down the hamburger!). It does get busy but we went early enough to nab a table before the wait set in. Would go back for sure.

It was a lovely sunny Sunday afternoon. A little too chilly for the patio, but happy to eat in at this local spot. The food is always good, the drinks are flowing and service is top notch. Specials change regularly and everything we had was delish.

Awesome place to grab delicious food and great selection of beer. I got the Americano Mixto Sando sandwich & fries, it was incredibly delicious and a huge sandwich which I couldn't finish. I got the Slake long sleeves beer (light and refreshing). My husband got the Chimichurri steak & fries with Muddy York Gaslight Helles Lager. Definitely coming back again. Staff are very friendly:)

Finally got out here. Staff were excellent. Beers on tap were great. Split the special of the day, ribs, and a bangkok burger. Both were unreal. I really want to go back. Definitely lives up to the hype.

A foodie friend told me I had to try Ethiopian food here, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! Wazema is an absolute gem in East York that every foodie in the GTA needs to visit. We ordered the Wazema Platter (for 2) and the Zigini Wot, paired with mango juice. Every single item on the platter was tremendous. Honestly, some of the veggie items on the platter tasted even better than their Indian counterparts! The restaurant itself is cozy, intimate, and seats about 30 people. It's located in one of the busiest spots on the Danforth, but we managed to find street parking easily. To top it off, the staff was incredibly helpful with all of our questions and special requests. Highly recommended—I will definitely be back!

If you are looking for a quiet and quaint place to gather with friends on the Danforth, and Injera bread is your vibe. This is the place for you. 2 friends and I came together for our friends birthday. The Doro Wot pictured here was mouth watering. It had the perfect taste and flavour. The server was so kind to suggest a plate, and check in on us regularly. Parking at the green P is really close by. For someone who lives outside of the city, dinner here was worth the trek. If you live in the city, Greenwood station is around the corner. They’ve got a good supply of non-alchoholic and alchoholic beverages. I’ll be back, and I’m bringing the whole party with me!

This was our first time trying Ethiopian food it was incredible! The food was delicious, but the service was what made the experience truly memorable. Thank you, Ayn, for taking the time to explain every dish and helping us discover the perfect pairing with a non-alcoholic beer. Your knowledge, kindness, and genuine hospitality made us feel so welcome. We left with full hearts (and full stomachs!) and can't wait to return.

Had such a great time at Wazema Ethiopian Restaurant! The place has a really nice, cozy vibe — warm lighting, beautiful decor, and that comforting aroma of spices as soon as you walk in. The veggie platter was my favourite — everything was fresh, flavourful, and perfectly spiced. The injera was soft and soaked up all the goodness from the lentils, greens, and stews. I also tried a few other dishes, and honestly, every bite was delicious. The staff were super friendly and made the whole experience even better — they took time to explain the dishes and made sure we had everything we needed. Such a lovely spot for authentic Ethiopian food in Toronto. Can’t wait to go back!

Small restaurant. Our server, Jordan was very friendly and knowledgeable in recommending what to choose from the menu. The food was very delicious and filling. The price was surprisingly very reasonable. Must mention that upon entering the restaurant, there was a strong smell of insence, but you adapt to it while waiting on your food which took a while, but it was well worth the wait. We will definitely return.

Incredibly delicious and authentic Ethiopian food with friendly staff. Cozy atmosphere with mood lighting for the late night and live music too! 100/10 would recommend. We got the vegan platter for one and meat platter for one (plenty for 2 people). Our hearts and stomachs feel nourished.

I come here with my Ethiopian friend when she comes to visit. This place is so cozy. Ethiopian cuisine with a bar like atmosphere in the front. The service is amazing and the food... omg so phenomenal. I've been to Ethiopian restaurants in many other cities but this is by far the best food and the best vibe. I find other places intimidating because there usually isn't any physical menu and you have to order in Amharic (Ethiopian dialect) but Blue Nile menus is so easy to navigate with explanations in english.

Family decided to try something new, saw the reviews and came in. Made reservations although they indicated wasn't necessary. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, giving us advice and information about the different menu items. Food was amazing, great experience and the coffee...WOW!! Loved it. Definitely a must if you're a coffee drinker. We'll go back to try other things, really enjoyed it.
