4 Star Rating Wonderful experience at this wonderful gem. I brought a friend and my grandmother and it was nice. Had sandwiches and French toast. Delicious choices. The waitress was wonderful. Super friendly. The restaurant is small but delightful. Bathroom is down a set of stairs. Not accommodating if you can’t do stairs.

5 Star Rating The Senator is a charming little spot that feels like stepping into a cozy, old-school diner with a touch of elegance. The inside is very cute and quaint, with a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes it a great place to sit and enjoy a meal. Yes, it’s definitely on the pricey side—expect to pay about twice as much as you would at somewhere like Sunset Grill. But in this case, you’re absolutely getting what you pay for. The breakfast is delicious—easily more than twice as tasty, so take that for what it's worth. Everything is cooked to perfection, from the eggs to the crispy bacon and perfectly toasted bread. The staff are also lovely, friendly, and attentive, adding to the overall experience. While it might not be an everyday spot for the budget-conscious, it’s absolutely worth the splurge every now and then for a truly enjoyable breakfast.

4 Star Rating The restaurant is VERY small. It is recommended you make reservations. The food was very tasty and was served hot & fresh. The portion are a good size. The staff were friendly and attentive. The washrooms are in the basement (not wheelchair accessible) and could use an upgrade/update. It is located at Dundas St & Victoria St. Conveniently across from the CAA Ed Mirvish Theatre and near Dundas Square. Parking is available right next door (outdoor) or there is underground parking within a minute walk (less expensive)

4 Star Rating Had an early Sunday dinner at Terroni Adelaide before a concert at Massey Hall and it was a great pre-show spot. The restaurant is set inside a former 1852 courthouse, with soaring ceilings and a beautiful atrium. Even the washrooms are downstairs in old jail cells, which is a fun little surprise. We shared the Calamari alla Griglia to start, fresh and nicely balanced. My date had the Spaghetti in Canna a Mare. It was labelled mildly spicy but definitely had some heat, though the flavours were great. I ordered the Ravioli al Brasato, which was delicious but the portion was on the smaller side. I could have eaten a few more ravioli and been perfectly happy. We finished with tiramisu, plus an amaro for me and zambuca for my date. Service was friendly, though drinks were a bit slow coming out. The place filled up quickly but never felt chaotic. Beautiful space, solid Italian food, and a great option downtown, especially before a show.

5 Star Rating I stopped by while looking for a great Italian spot in Toronto, and the calamari truly exceeded my expectations. It was perfectly fried crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and full of fresh ocean flavour. Served with a slice of lemon and a delicious dipping sauce, it made the whole dish even more enjoyable. Throughout the meal, both the atmosphere and the service were excellent; in a warm and lively setting, I had a genuinely high-quality start to my dining experience.

5 Star Rating We went to Terroni for a work lunch and wow was the food ever amazing. I will say they have few vegan options, but plenty vegetarian options. I had the butternut squash ravioli which was divine. Often I find Italian restaurants are stingy when it comes to ravioli, but Terroni was quite generous. I loved the bread they brought out at the beginning. Our server was very helpful and kind. The food came out at breakneck speed. I was genuinely shocked. Dessert was also scrumptious. Highly recommend the chocolate torta, though it is a bit pricey for the size. As far as accessibility, there are stairs to get up to the entrances, many people waiting indoors, far distances to walk to tables, and tables were quite close together.

4 Star Rating I had just come back from Italy, and this restaurant fed the piece of me that wants to go back. Everything was flavourful and authentic. The building is so grand and interesting, I don’t think I fully experienced it even with a trip to the bathroom. You have to order the caprese di bufula to start.

4 Star Rating An amazing setting for a very authentic dining experience. We ate as a group in what appeared to be a great hall or ballroom upstairs. There were 4 fireplaces and balconies overhanging our tables. Dark but fascinating decor throughout the building. The menu made everything sound very appealing. We had the lemon calamari, fungi salad, papparadelle and tagliatelle bolognese. The calamari was unremarkable and not distinguishable from pub fare. The funghi assolute, though, was very interesting, with a crisp, meaty feeling balanced by the arugula and balsamic. The papparadelle alla iosa was also very authentic, with a lovely, toothy mouth feel to the perfectly al dente noodles and a homemade, Nonna flavour to the sausage and sauce. The menu describes it as "spicy sauasge" but there was minimal, if any, heat to it. Still quite tasty. Definitely an interesting and authentic Italian option in downtown.

5 Star Rating Everything about Hy’s is top notch - ambiance, service, and most importantly, the food! Got to give a shout out to Prentice who provided best-in-class service! He designed the perfect lunch for us. Definitely do not miss out the cheese bread - it’s something else! The shrimp cocktail is four completely symmetric jumbo shrimp. We listened to Prentice and got the bone-in NY to share instead of individual strips - completely the right call!

3 Star Rating I would like to start off with saying that I don't eat steak. We were a group of 5 on a Friday at 5pm. We had reservations. We were able to order from the happy hour menu until 6pm. I had a hamburger and I wouldn't recommend it. There also sliders, but they were cuts of beef instead of ground beef. I did not try any of the cocktails. The wine list is extensive and highly recommended. I would come back to try the drinks.

My dear friend and colleague Sir Bruce’s favorite restaurant for decades. Our server Dayna was wonderful and provided superb service, helped select wine, and prepared our flambéd bananas Foster. Cesar salad prepared tableside. Huge porterhouse and filet steaks grilled to perfection. Seared scallops and prawn cocktail appetizers, sides of mashed potatoes and cremini mushrooms all delicious. An awe inspiring vaulted ceiling towers over the long bar and dining galleria. A superb evening! Highest recommendation! 👑🐒⚜️ d

4 Star Rating For those who enjoy being in an environment that blends the new with the old, like to learn details about beer production, and enjoy being in an environment where beer is actually made, visiting 3 Brasseurs is a good option. The restaurant has a good menu of food, drinks, and beers, but without a wide variety of beers. The place has a sensational structure to serve a large number of customers and host events, but with very little infrastructure to accommodate customers with reduced mobility and disabilities. They do not have menus in Braille, the entrance doors are spring-loaded, and the floor is smooth and undamaged; they have tables that can be used with wheelchairs and walkers, but the restrooms are located on the upper floors, requiring assistance for customers as there are many flights of stairs. The restaurant service is okay; on quiet days and during off-peak hours, the attention and service are quite fast and organized. However, when busier times begin, be patient, as it will take longer. They don't have their own parking, but there are several private parking lots in the area, and it's also just steps from the TEMU metro station. Worth a visit.

4 Star Rating This is a French chain restaurant with locations across Ontario and Quebec, so it helps to keep that in mind when setting expectations. The beer is brewed for scale and has a more mass-produced taste, but it’s still solid and was enjoyed by all. The space itself is large and spread across multiple levels, which worked well for our party of eight. On Boxing Day, right after a theater show, we only waited about 20 minutes for a table, impressive given the crowds. The location is also very convenient, directly across from the Eaton Centre. The food is classic pub fare. We tried the fish and chips, flammekueche, poutine, and a few handheld. I regret not adding extra cheese to the Alps Raclette, it definitely needed it. The poutine portion is on the smaller side, so a hungry teenager (or adult) will likely want more. The fish and chips was a solid go to! Overall, it’s a convenient, lively spot for groups, especially before or after shopping or a show.

4 Star Rating Visited 3 Brasseurs and tried the halloumi fries, peach schnapps cocktail, decadent brownie, and fruit explosion mocktail. Overall, it was good, but not quite what I expected. Coming from Montreal, I’ve been to 3 Brasseurs multiple times, and there the vibe is lively and the food truly amazing. Here, it felt like something was missing - especially in the fries, the mocktail, and the warmth of the service. That said, the place still has great potential, and some items like the brownie and cocktail were enjoyable. Would be worth revisiting for the experience.

5 Star Rating We tried the chef's choice tasting menu while visiting Toronto and celebrating our wedding anniversary. We made a reservation ahead of time and were seated right away at the high top communal table. We were really fortunate to be seated next to another couple also celebrating their anniversary. The company was perfect. The restaurant made us a little card with a hand drawn cartoon on the back. Very sweet touch. The food was outstanding. The attention to detail was exceptional. They were careful about dietary restrictions and the dairy free dessert we ordered was delicious. We complemented our dinner with the non-alcoholic flight. It was beyond anything we had seen before. It was clear the sommelier had given a lot of thought to the pairings. We had everything from kombucha, sparkling jasmine tea, NA wine, to one of their signature NA cocktails. No complaints. Would absolutely go back if we visit Toronto again.

5 Star Rating We had Richmond Station’s chef’s menu last week and really enjoyed it. The highlight was an off-menu chilled white asparagus soup, which was creamy, bright, and surprisingly memorable. We also loved the first salad course with asparagus, confit egg yolk, cured pork, and wild leeks—it was fresh, balanced, and full of spring flavor. The rest of the menu was consistently strong too. This place has always been one of our favorites, will revisit from time to time. Highly recommended.

5 Star Rating Ranked No. 100 in Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants 2023. Chef Car Heinrich’s elegant downtown farm-to-fork spot in downtown Toronto. It’s a neighbourhood restaurant offering elevated Canadian cuisine. You could go there to get a tasting menu, or simply a burger, which is one of their most popular items. My friend took me to Richmond Station!!! In fact, it’s my first dining experience at Canada’s 100 Best Restaurants in 2023. The restaurant was completely filled up even around 10PM that night (maybe because it’s the holidays). Nevertheless, food came out fast, and the service was good. Overall, the food was good, but we were really thirsty afterwards for some reason.

4 Star Rating Richmond Station is a gem. Went in for early dinner and came away genuinely impressed. Service was great from start to finish, and the food delivered across the board. The burger is the star here - absolutely delicious, and worth the trip on its own. The salad was fresh, the fries were excellent, and the fried mushrooms were solid. My colleague ordered the fish and raved about it. Drinks were beautifully presented, and the ambiance strikes a nice chilled-out vibe that works for both a quick business lunch and something more relaxed. Two small critiques: the desserts were a bit lackluster compared to the quality of the rest of the meal, and I wish the menu was slightly larger, there's clearly talent in that kitchen and I'd love to see it stretched a bit further. Overall though, a great spot with outstanding execution. That burger alone earns my highest recommendation.

5 Star Rating I visited La Bettola di Terroni and, as an Italian, I have to say this place truly delivers. The octopus was tender, juicy and full of flavour, cooked perfectly without being rubbery, which is not easy to get right. The chitarra alla Norcina were simply unbelievable. Fresh pasta, perfectly al dente, exactly how it should be. Rich, comforting and authentic. To finish, I had a cannolo and, not going to lie, it genuinely put a smile on my face. Crisp shell, proper filling, and just the right sweetness. This is the kind of Italian food that makes you feel at home, even when you’re not.

3 Star Rating Meals begin with a complimentary basket of white and whole-wheat Italian bread, served with olive oil and a spicy pepper bomba, a fiery spread that wakes up the palate and pairs beautifully with whatever pasta or pizza follows. Their fettuccine alla bolognese ($26) is a safe choice. The sauce is done properly with plenty of meat (a beef and pork blend) with just enough tomato to tint it red. It clings nicely to the wide noodles that verge on pappardelle territory, though the dish could use a touch more seasoning and a snowfall of Parmesan to really shine. The chitarra alla norcina ($30) starts off strong, with freshly shaved truffle prominently displayed on top. But then the crumbled sausage takes over, its oiliness overpowering the delicate flavors beneath. A pity, because the handmade pasta itself is good – chewy and satisfying. Flavours deepen with the costoletta di manzo ($47), a hunk of braised beef short rib that’s both meaty and tender, perched atop a creamy polenta seasoned simply with its braising liquid. It’s a true secondi, comforting and rustic, but not quite enough to stand alone without a starter. With barely a vegetable in sight, we added a side of rapini ($12), sautéed with just a whisper of garlic and chili flakes. It was a welcome burst of bitterness amid a sea of richness. For those sensitive to salt, La Bettola di Terroni may be just right - the kitchen leans toward the under-seasoned side. It’s not a dealbreaker, and perhaps kinder on the heart, but I did find myself wishing for a saltshaker to perk up a few dishes. When we arrived after work, the room was nearly empty, but by 6 pm it was buzzing with theatregoers heading to a show across the street. Reservations are wise. Service is efficient and knowledgeable, if not exactly warm... think brisk and businesslike rather than chatty and charming.

5 Star Rating This is one of my favorite go to places. I’ve been for years and they never fail to deliver. The fish is always cooked perfectly, it’s the only place I know of in the city where you can get swordfish carpaccio (they cure it themselves, I think) and the wine selection is always excellent. Once they served duck breast and it was divine. Another protein (like fish) that is not easy to cook well. Domenica is my server of choice. I always ask for her. She’s always delivered perfect service, and she knows her wines. Over the years, she’s gotten to know my tastes and she makes sure I feel well tended to every time. Today she managed our party of fifteen expertly and with perfect timing. Fabulous wine suggestion as well.

3 Star Rating Not for Vegans 👎 I went here for a work lunch. While the ambience was lovely and the staff were good, they didn't have anything substantial for a vegan to eat. I ate the Pasta Pomodoro with no vegan cheese or vegan protein substitute available. The pasta was fine, but not filling. My colleagues didn't know I was vegan, else we would have chosen an alternate restaurant. They brought some good bread and olive oil which was nice. Our waiting staff was confident the kitchen wouldn't customize a salad, so I was stuck with 2 dishes in an otherwise long menu. Their wine selection is vast and I am sure if you didn't have food restrictions you would have many options. I can't give a higher rating as I walked out hungry.

3 Star Rating I’ve visited Trattoria Mercatto multiple times, mainly because its location in the Eaton Centre is so convenient after a long day of shopping. However, the service is consistently underwhelming. The servers rarely put in any effort to be friendly, it always feels very transactional rather than welcoming. As for the food, I’ve tried several of their pastas and haven’t really enjoyed them, but their pizzas are pretty good, and the tiramisu is definitely a highlight. Overall, it’s a convenient spot with a couple of solid menu items, but the service and some of the dishes leave a lot to be desired.

4 Star Rating Trattoria Mercatto brings a warm, modern take on Italian dining right into the heart of the Eaton Centre. The space feels stylish yet relaxed, making it a comfortable stop for taking a break from shopping or meeting someone for a casual meal. With its open, lively atmosphere, friendly service and polished design, it strikes a nice balance between everyday dining and something a little special. The menu focuses on classic Italian dishes—fresh pastas, pizzas, salads, and comforting mains—paired with a solid wine list. We ordered “Beets & Ricotta” and “pollo alla Diavola”. The food was well-presented and mostly delicious, but a bit too salty.

3 Star Rating Of course starting with the positive they have a great wine selection and even better service. Every employee was kind and worked extremely well as a team. The lamb spiedini was cooked well and delicious. I ordered the linguini to go and that’s where I made a huge mistake. The scallops were like sponges, shrimp was overcooked, and the noodles were so bland i was in disbelief. The lack of integrity in the meal made me question the rest of my experience but I will not rewrite history. I’m not sure who dropped the ball on that dish especially after reading other reviews but something has to be done especially for the price per plate.

4 Star Rating Had a team lunch at Mercatto, and it honestly turned out to be one of the best Italian dining experiences I’ve had in the city. Food: Most of us ordered pizzas, and every single one was excellent — authentic flavors, great crust, and high-quality ingredients. You can tell they know what they’re doing. Service: Fast, attentive, and smooth. Our group was fairly large, but everything came out on time without any mix-ups. Overall: A genuinely authentic Italian spot that lives up to its reputation. I’d easily come back again, whether it’s for a team lunch or a casual meal. Highly recommended

5 Star Rating I stopped in at Sunset Grill and really enjoyed my breakfast. The deluxe hot chocolate was amazing. It came with a big mountain of whipped cream and sprinkles on top, and it tasted as good as it looked. Sweet, cozy, and perfect for a cold day. The avocado toast was loaded with toppings. Thick toast with lots of avocado, tomatoes, feta cheese, olives, and red onion. It was fresh and filling, not one of those tiny fancy toasts. If you like strong flavors, you’ll love it. I also had the eggs Florentine. I didn’t get a picture of it, but it was tasty and comforting, exactly what you want from a breakfast plate. Overall, the food looked great and tasted great. It’s a nice spot if you want a breakfast that feels a bit special and not rushed.

2 Star Rating Came here with some friends to grab a quick bite, and got the California eggs Benny with a cappuccino. The cappuccino was fairly good, and the eggs benny were alright, though nothing too impressive. The paprika was nice at least. The home fries that came with the eggs though were lukewarm and somehow hard. I don’t think they were undercooked, but they were just tough, like they had already been cooked up then stuck in the fridge to harden up, and were not fully reheated. They were effectively inedible which was disappointing. Additionally, our waitress basically abandoned us in our corner of the restaurant and didn’t come back for a long time after we had finished eating, when we were ready for our bills and also had other events that morning we had to attend. One in our party got up to ask another waitress to get our waitress for us, and even after that it was still another 10-15 minutes of waiting. The restaurant wasn’t even that busy, maybe only a few groups stretched across the whole restaurant. All in all, the experience was fairly mediocre. I don’t know if I would return, though if I did I’d have something that didn’t involve the home fries, and would also not come under a time limit.

5 Star Rating This wasn't my first time visiting a Sunset Grill, but I know the experience can vary by location, and this one was excellent. The downtown location was very convenient, close to our hotel and the passport office, making it an easy choice for breakfast. We visited on a Monday morning and were seated right away with no wait. The restaurant is a good size with plenty of seating available. From the moment we arrived, the service stood out. We were greeted promptly, given the option to choose where we'd like to sit, and our waitress was fantastic—friendly, attentive, and quick throughout our meal. She made a great breakfast recommendation, and my husband and I decided to share a meal and add a side. We ordered the French Toast Supreme with bacon, sausage, and home fries, added rye toast, and enjoyed coffee and water. Everything arrived hot, fresh, and delicious. What really stood out was the service at the end of our meal. We asked for a coffee to go, and instead of simply putting the remaining coffee into a cup, our waitress brought me a fresh, hot coffee to take with me, which was a thoughtful touch and very much appreciated. Overall, we had a great breakfast experience. Between the convenient downtown location, excellent service, generous portions, and tasty food, I would definitely recommend this Sunset Grill location to anyone looking for breakfast downtown Toronto.

5 Star Rating Affordable, fast and a decent portion for the price. I had the eggs benny, nice big plate and a side of fruit for $14. My friend had a modified meal without toast or hashbrowns and got a nice side of coleslaw instead. The bacon was a nice thick cut. Service was really friendly. Little slow at first but then we saw a huge take out order come out, so perfectly understandable!

3 Star Rating The service was good, the steak was ok, the burger was below ok (it seems like they are using Quinn's leftovers to make the burgers). The prices are ok, but I wasn't impressed. I will keep coming to the steakhouse, but not to the pub. And $2 for one piece of cheddar is absurd.
