Wonderful experience at this wonderful gem. I brought a friend and my grandmother and it was nice. Had sandwiches and French toast. Delicious choices. The waitress was wonderful. Super friendly. The restaurant is small but delightful. Bathroom is down a set of stairs. Not accommodating if you can’t do stairs.

The Senator is a charming little spot that feels like stepping into a cozy, old-school diner with a touch of elegance. The inside is very cute and quaint, with a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes it a great place to sit and enjoy a meal.
Yes, it’s definitely on the pricey side—expect to pay about twice as much as you would at somewhere like Sunset Grill. But in this case, you’re absolutely getting what you pay for. The breakfast is delicious—easily more than twice as tasty, so take that for what it's worth. Everything is cooked to perfection, from the eggs to the crispy bacon and perfectly toasted bread.
The staff are also lovely, friendly, and attentive, adding to the overall experience. While it might not be an everyday spot for the budget-conscious, it’s absolutely worth the splurge every now and then for a truly enjoyable breakfast.

Went for dinner at the Senator tonight and absolutely loved the experience. My husband and I split the ravioli and chicken pot pie and both were just amazing. Both of us said that our food tasted like the best quality home cooked meal we’ve ever had. Also the entire atmosphere is just cozy. Can’t wait to go back!

A historic gem in downtown Toronto. My friend and I had the meatloaf and wine specials, then homemade sticky toffee pudding …. everything was delicious and the staff were just wonderful. Love the vintage decor vibes. I’ll be back with my spouse next time for date night.

We went to Terroni for a work lunch and wow was the food ever amazing. I will say they have few vegan options, but plenty vegetarian options. I had the butternut squash ravioli which was divine. Often I find Italian restaurants are stingy when it comes to ravioli, but Terroni was quite generous. I loved the bread they brought out at the beginning. Our server was very helpful and kind. The food came out at breakneck speed. I was genuinely shocked. Dessert was also scrumptious. Highly recommend the chocolate torta, though it is a bit pricey for the size.
As far as accessibility, there are stairs to get up to the entrances, many people waiting indoors, far distances to walk to tables, and tables were quite close together.

I had just come back from Italy, and this restaurant fed the piece of me that wants to go back. Everything was flavourful and authentic. The building is so grand and interesting, I don’t think I fully experienced it even with a trip to the bathroom. You have to order the caprese di bufula to start.
Debbie Hernandez - a week ago
An amazing setting for a very authentic dining experience. We ate as a group in what appeared to be a great hall or ballroom upstairs. There were 4 fireplaces and balconies overhanging our tables. Dark but fascinating decor throughout the building. The menu made everything sound very appealing. We had the lemon calamari, fungi salad, papparadelle and tagliatelle bolognese. The calamari was unremarkable and not distinguishable from pub fare. The funghi assolute, though, was very interesting, with a crisp, meaty feeling balanced by the arugula and balsamic. The papparadelle alla iosa was also very authentic, with a lovely, toothy mouth feel to the perfectly al dente noodles and a homemade, Nonna flavour to the sausage and sauce. The menu describes it as "spicy sauasge" but there was minimal, if any, heat to it. Still quite tasty.
Definitely an interesting and authentic Italian option in downtown.

Completely mediocre food without any real Italian flavours. It wouldn't be so bad if the food wasn't as expensive as it was, but you're paying a premium for very basic ingredients and cooking.
A lot of the flavours across multiple dishes tasted the same, especially the salads. Same sauce/dressing, slightly different vegetables. Zero creativity and technique.
Only reason I'm not giving it a single star is because of the nice service and ambience. For your money's worth, there's a lot of other better Italian places.
Claire Hoon - a week ago
If you haven't experienced Terroni yet, make a reservation soon! The grilled calamari is absolutely delicious and a must-try. Their seafood pasta is impressive, as you can see in the picture. And if you're in the mood for something simple, definitely go for their bolognese pasta.
If you venture downstairs to the washrooms, be sure to check out the old holding cells in the basement that have been transformed into wine cellars. It's fascinating to see how this place used to be an old courthouse back in the day!

This restaurant evokes a bygone era of refinement, with dark wood paneling, plush leather seats, and soft golden lighting that creates an air of quiet sophistication.
The Onion Soup set a remarkable precedent, its depth of flavour was truly exceptional.
For the mains, the Rack of Lamb was a masterclass in preparation. The meat was rendered to a flawless medium-rare, possessing a succulent, fork-tender texture and a clean, pronounced flavour that spoke of high-quality sourcing, just enhanced its richness without overpowering the natural taste of the lamb.
The Beef Wellington was a triumph of classic cuisine, a dish that demands technical precision. The flaky, golden-brown puff pastry enveloped a generous portion of tender, perfectly seared beef fillet, all cemented by a rich, earthy layer of duxelles. It was a harmonious balance of texture and intense flavour, executed with impressive skill.
The Pork Chop presented a beautiful pink interior, testament to precise cooking, yet it possessed a slight rough texture that contrasted with the dish's overall finesse. This was admirably balanced by the accompanying mashed potatoes, which were commendably light and non-greasy, an excellent complement to the savoury meat.
The presentation of the Caesar Salad and the Banana Ice Cream was a theatrical highlight, both being prepared tableside to perfection. This element of tableside preparation offered a touch of engaging performance and ensured the ultimate freshness of the dishes.
The service was impeccable, with the waiters clad in striking, loose-fitting, grey uniforms, lending a wonderfully vintage and distinctive atmosphere to the room.
We do have a unforgettable wonderful time in Hy's.

Went to Hy’s Steakhouse for my birthday and it was honestly one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The Beef Wellington was perfectly cooked, buttery, and full of flavor. The service was amazing too, super warm and attentive. Only thing is, they don’t give a free birthday dessert like The Keg — but the food was so good it still felt worth the splurge. Such a great way to celebrate my birthday!

My sister treated me to dinner at Hy’s during a recent visit to Toronto. Everything was wonderful from the seared scallops as an appetizer to the bananas foster dessert. I am a rather picky eater so a special thank you to our waiter Gabe for suggesting I at least try the sauce that came with the Filet a la Hy’s, it was delicious. I’m even going to try to recreate the brown sugar pecan carrots, if I can find a recipe. The atmosphere, the food, and the staff were all outstanding. As I said earlier, a special thank you to our waiter Gabe for taking such good care of us. I’d also like to acknowledge the unknown staff member by the front desk/door who noticed a gentleman outside having difficulty lighting a cigarette in the wind and light rain. The staff member ran out with a pack of matches and helped the gentleman get his cigarette lit. Hy’s is truly a class act without putting on airs. I would highly recommend it to anyone living in or visiting Toronto.

Had a great experience here!
We ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad, Veggie Pasta, and for dessert, the Belgian Waffle - everything was delicious and nicely presented. The flavors were fresh, and the portion sizes were just right.
Our server, Iris, was such a sweet and attentive lady, which made the experience even better.
Definitely recommend this place for a good meal and warm service!

A nice place to try. Multiple levels, fun atmosphere and from what I hear good tasting beer. Being celiac I couldn't drink the beer but the food looked good, the gf beverages were tasty and the vibe within the brewery was amazing.
It's well worth a stop to check out and enjoy some quality time by yourself or with friends and or family

I visit this place quite often, but this was my first time being seated on the second floor — and it was great.
I’ve always been seated on the first floor before, where it can get quite noisy and make conversations a bit difficult, but the upstairs area had a much calmer atmosphere and felt very comfortable and easy to talk in.
What I appreciated the most this time was how close the washrooms were.
From the first floor, it always felt like quite a long walk, which I found a bit inconvenient, but that wasn’t an issue at all upstairs.
The beer was, as always, excellent — consistently delicious.
The food portions felt a bit on the smaller side, and some dishes might be a little too modest for sharing with friends, but the taste was good.
Also, while I’ve never had particularly memorable service here before, this time the server was exceptionally friendly and made a great impression — probably the best experience I’ve had at this location so far.
After this experience, I feel even more eager to visit this place more often.
And if it’s possible to request a table upstairs, I definitely would.

We came here last night for the a la carte menu and everything was terrific! Most notably, the service and the care they take for their customers is impeccable. Previously, we came for the tasting menu that unfortunately did not hit the mark for us. But Hayden, one of the owners, reached out and made everything right in the end. So we came back and were greeted with excellent service and hospitality. We truly appreciated how passionate and how they took great care of us despite what happened our last visit!
The food was delicious, and we were surprised at how large the portions were for the entrees. The appetizers were really tasty as well.
Our server, Emily was incredibly friendly, thoughtful, and accommodating. She also kept refusing our tip in the end, incredibly gracious of her :)
We were too absorbed in the appetizers that we forgot to take pictures, but everything was delicious! We'll definitely be back.

We had an incredible experience at Richmond Station! Every dish was exceptional — the salad was fresh and flavorful, the beef tartare and baked brie were absolutely delicious, and the duck and shrimp fettuccine were both cooked to perfection.
The espresso martini was one of the best I’ve had, and all of their house drinks were creative and well-balanced. We finished with the s’mores dessert, which was the perfect sweet ending.
But what really made the night unforgettable was the service — truly the best I’ve ever received. Every staff member interacts with guests, and you can tell they genuinely care about making your experience special. Warm, welcoming, and perfectly attentive from start to finish.
Richmond Station is easily one of the best dining experiences in the city. We’ll definitely be back!

We went for the Six Course Chef’s Tasting Menu as a family since I owed them a big favour recently. The menu probably changes with the seasons so I won’t get into every detail, but what really stood out was how thoughtfully each course was prepared and how approachable the flavors were. Even someone not familiar with Western fine dining would find it enjoyable.
My mom usually sticks with Asian cuisine, so I was a little nervous about how she would take it. Watching her finish every plate, even down to the last drop of sauce, honestly made me smile the whole evening. The service added to it too. The servers were warm and attentive, and when I saw her make the effort to express her gratitude to them directly, I knew we were in the right place.
For a first experience with a tasting menu like this, Richmond Station feels like the perfect spot. It goes beyond just being “delicious” and becomes a shared memory. The dining room was full, but everyone seemed happy and relaxed, and that energy made the night feel even more special.
Richmond Station is now where I’d start if I ever wanted to introduce someone new to this kind of dining.

Been wanting to come here for a looong time. Finally came here with some colleagues for a team lunch (we reserved a table a little over a week prior). It was everything I hoped/expected it to be.
Good atmosphere and decor. Nice and bright. Service was spectacular.
There was so many different food choice and everything sounded and looked wonderful, but I landed on the duck sausage and it was delicious. Would absolutely want to come back again (hopefully soon)

My husband and I did the chef's tasting menu for our anniversary. The dishes were amazing and beautifully presented. I also loved the personal touches-- a hand written card wishing us a happy anniversary, as well as a message written in chocolate on our dessert plate saying "happy anniversary". Will definitely return to eat from the main menu. A wonderful experience!

Bloody hell — this place is a knockout. From the moment my wife and I sat down, we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere? Warm, buzzing, stylish without trying too hard. Proper Italian soul.
And the service? Outstanding. The wait staff weren’t just good — they were phenomenal. Attentive without being intrusive, anticipating our needs before we even asked. Professional, friendly, and sharp — exactly how service should be.
Now, the food — absolute perfection from start to finish.
Caprese con Mozzarella di Bufala: That mozzarella was like velvet. Creamy, fresh, it practically melted into the tomatoes and basil. A proper showcase of how simplicity can be bloody brilliant when the ingredients are top notch.
Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe: This dish is a beast. Al dente pasta, glossy, coated in cheese and pepper, no nonsense. It’s comfort food elevated to fine dining. Honestly, one of the best versions I’ve ever had.
Beef Carpaccio: Thinly sliced, melt-in-your-mouth beef, peppery rocket, sharp Parmesan — balanced like a symphony. Fresh, vibrant, spot on.
Bread Basket with Olive Oil: Crunchy crust, soft center — dip it in that green-gold olive oil and you’re in heaven. Something so simple, but when it’s done right, it hits you hard.
Roasted Potatoes: Crispy skins, fluffy insides, seasoned just right. Rustic, earthy, bloody delicious.
Terroni Sour: Smooth, citrusy, balanced cocktail with a proper punch. Not too sweet, not too tart — just beautifully crafted.
Dessert – Italian Lemon Olive Oil Cake: Light, moist, kissed with citrus, dusted with sugar, almonds for crunch. It’s the sort of dessert that makes you close your eyes on the first bite. Absolutely sublime.
Every plate that came to the table was executed with precision, passion, and respect for the ingredients. Not a weak dish in sight. Pair that with flawless, attentive service and you’ve got a dining experience that’s hard to top.
This is how you do it: Buon Cibo. Buon Vino. Buoni Amici. They nailed every word on that wall.

Visited on an early Monday evening. Greeted by friendly and efficient staff and soon led to the table which was booked. The establishment was quite busy at six o'clock with a few couples and more business people having dinner. The waiter was very efficient and able to explain the dishes and the starters were swiftly presented. We had a large group of people, however, the restaurant was very efficient in plating out the service. The ravioli was exceptionally good although I would have expected that considering the price. The menu is comprehensive and there is a good selection of wine. The restaurant is quite bijoux with appropriate decor. My concern is when I used the washroom facilities I 'shared' the washroom with a little friend (see picture). The washrooms are very close to the kitchen. I will let you decide if this is a concern.

This was the perfect stop for a wine lunch after engagement ring diamond shopping.
Christo was our server and he was spectacular! He romanced the food, was warm and friendly, and made our lunch memorable!
I had the Orecchiette con Zucca and it was phenomenal. It was warm, buttery, fresh and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The ragusano cheese gave sharpness to the warm sweetness of the butternut squash, and the guanciale added the perfect savoury accent.
I ate my entire dish so quickly, it was so delicious.
The wine paired perfect - fresh, palate cleansing and complimentary.
I also love the sourdough complimentary starter with the olive oil and chillies (maybe fresno?) - divine.

As someone who is entrenched within Italian traditions and customs, finding an Italian restaurant that measures up to my Nonna's and mum's cooking is challenging. This is one of my most favourite Italian restaurants. The menu is inventive, everything is so fresh and delicious. Our server was unbelievably friendly and helpful, and he indulged Nonna's questions and conversations about her time in Sicily as a child. We started with the Caprese con Mozzarella di Bufala and Arancine Palermitane (stuffed with a Beef Ragu). Followed by a Prosciutto e Burrata pizza, and ended our meal with 2 scoops of Italian Gelato (lemon and chocolate) and a delicious Cannoli (probably one of the best I've ever had...so good, we ordered two more to go!), and a Cappuccino. It was a truly wonderful night out.

The deluxe burger was so good. The signature chicken was really nice, just a bit too salty for me. But i'm going back to grab the deluxe burger.
Unfortunately homeless people can just walk in and serve themselves free drinks and also beg for money. Not very hygienic.
The staff was super sweet.
Other than these 2 things i had a great experience

Outstanding experience. Went back for the Tasting Menu twice in a week! Authentic, fresh, delicious, well presented dishes. Much of the fish was flown in from Japan. The black cod was so flavorful, fresh and tender. Tomo’s unique yuzu ice cream is not to be missed! The staff are all gracious, welcoming, and friendly. They are also very conscientious about any food allergies. Highly recommended!

Visited Wednesday 5pm or happy hour, that is from 5-7pm. Greeted by friendly and efficient staff who speak Japanese and was considerate at my poor Japanese. Don't worry they speak English too. A very nice set up, quite and well decorated. Evenings are apparently, quite and they have more customers at lunch time that makes sense given their location. I went with the fried chicken and found it was delicious. Decent pieces of chicken and professionally cooked and served. There were a number of beverages available for happy hour including a nice selection of different sake. The green tea was also tasty. The prices were to be expected so the discount during happy hour was appreciated.

Overall, the experience was good. I went for Summerlicious and they had a lot of options on their menu. The hamachi carpaccio was disappointing however the main (blue fin
Chirashi) was quite good. Dessert was good too (cheesecake) but I just expected more for the price. Also the cocktails were too expensive for the size.

A very nice Japanese sushi/sashimi-focused restaurant. ("Nami" means "wave" in Japanese, in case you’re wondering.)
The food is excellent and very authentic. The restaurant is definitely on the expensive side, and it is à la carte only (no prix fixe or true omakase), but it’s worth it for special occasions. The interior décor could use a bit of a facelift, but I still recommend this place if you’re looking to experience real Japanese cuisine.

I’ve visited Trattoria Mercatto multiple times, mainly because its location in the Eaton Centre is so convenient after a long day of shopping. However, the service is consistently underwhelming. The servers rarely put in any effort to be friendly, it always feels very transactional rather than welcoming.
As for the food, I’ve tried several of their pastas and haven’t really enjoyed them, but their pizzas are pretty good, and the tiramisu is definitely a highlight. Overall, it’s a convenient spot with a couple of solid menu items, but the service and some of the dishes leave a lot to be desired.

We had calamari they were good. No pic..too hungry to take it. Lol. The meal was overall good. Was busy didn't think at 5 it would be.. thank goodness we made reservations. The pizza tasty.. light and flavourful crust but a bit flimsy.. asked well done but maybe too thin. the dessert tiramisù was one of the better ones I've had.. only 1 spot I could taste the dry cookie but still delicious. The wine 9oz glass was not cheap! I think it was 28.00. Insane! Service was good.

The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, which added to the whole experience. Will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend!

This must be the best breakfast place in town — it’s gotta be!
The portion sizes were just right — not overwhelming, but perfectly satisfying. The kid’s pancake came as a single stack, which was exactly enough.
I had the avocado toast, my go-to breakfast item, and this one stood out in the best way. Topped with olives, feta cheese, and red onion, it was a unique twist I hadn’t tried before — and it really worked.
The service was excellent — our server was so friendly and welcoming.
Best of all, the prices were very reasonable, especially for the quality of food and experience. The place was busy, with nearly every table full, which made it clear this is a local favorite. We had a great time!

This has always been my favorite breakfast restaurant in Toronto. Food is consistently fresh, the service is timely and the staff are friendly. The dining options seem endless. There is something for everyone no matter what your preferences or dietary needs are. This is why I always keep coming back

The friendliest and hardworking staff I've ever seen. Best breakfast. Love their inhouse chips.
Apparently you can even enjoy lunch here as you get good burgers.

For my girls trip we wanted breakfast everyday but with Carnival Ha! We never made it. However, we wanted to try this location on our last day! We travelled here and waited 10-15mins to get seated once seated we ordered drinks and food. Waited 35mins for food to get to our table with 3/4 orders to be completely cold when it hit the table. Then when asked for a replacement, the waiter was willing to accommodate but we would miss our train. The waiter did replace 2/4 potatoes for us to take to go but we never got to eat it since we had to hurry to travel back home. Overall it was not worth going to in my opinion, it was too busy and not well staffed. The wait times were longer than anticipated but the waiter was willing to work with us. We wished that we had a better experience but we will not return to this location. We only ate due to being hungry and running late due to the wait times.
Oh and my friend was disappointed in her strawberry cheesecake French toast. It was just french toast with a ton of cheesecake or some type of frosting topped with strawberries. I don’t eat this so I maybe explaining the ingredients all wrong haha but it is what it looks like.
If you are in the area then give it a try at your own risk.
