Wonderful experience at this wonderful gem. I brought a friend and my grandmother and it was nice. Had sandwiches and French toast. Delicious choices. The waitress was wonderful. Super friendly. The restaurant is small but delightful. Bathroom is down a set of stairs. Not accommodating if you can’t do stairs.

The Senator is a charming little spot that feels like stepping into a cozy, old-school diner with a touch of elegance. The inside is very cute and quaint, with a warm, inviting atmosphere that makes it a great place to sit and enjoy a meal.
Yes, it’s definitely on the pricey side—expect to pay about twice as much as you would at somewhere like Sunset Grill. But in this case, you’re absolutely getting what you pay for. The breakfast is delicious—easily more than twice as tasty, so take that for what it's worth. Everything is cooked to perfection, from the eggs to the crispy bacon and perfectly toasted bread.
The staff are also lovely, friendly, and attentive, adding to the overall experience. While it might not be an everyday spot for the budget-conscious, it’s absolutely worth the splurge every now and then for a truly enjoyable breakfast.

Went for dinner at the Senator tonight and absolutely loved the experience. My husband and I split the ravioli and chicken pot pie and both were just amazing. Both of us said that our food tasted like the best quality home cooked meal we’ve ever had. Also the entire atmosphere is just cozy. Can’t wait to go back!

A historic gem in downtown Toronto. My friend and I had the meatloaf and wine specials, then homemade sticky toffee pudding …. everything was delicious and the staff were just wonderful. Love the vintage decor vibes. I’ll be back with my spouse next time for date night.

Had an early Sunday dinner at Terroni Adelaide before a concert at Massey Hall and it was a great pre-show spot. The restaurant is set inside a former 1852 courthouse, with soaring ceilings and a beautiful atrium. Even the washrooms are downstairs in old jail cells, which is a fun little surprise.
We shared the Calamari alla Griglia to start, fresh and nicely balanced. My date had the Spaghetti in Canna a Mare. It was labelled mildly spicy but definitely had some heat, though the flavours were great. I ordered the Ravioli al Brasato, which was delicious but the portion was on the smaller side. I could have eaten a few more ravioli and been perfectly happy.
We finished with tiramisu, plus an amaro for me and zambuca for my date. Service was friendly, though drinks were a bit slow coming out. The place filled up quickly but never felt chaotic.
Beautiful space, solid Italian food, and a great option downtown, especially before a show.

We went to Terroni for a work lunch and wow was the food ever amazing. I will say they have few vegan options, but plenty vegetarian options. I had the butternut squash ravioli which was divine. Often I find Italian restaurants are stingy when it comes to ravioli, but Terroni was quite generous. I loved the bread they brought out at the beginning. Our server was very helpful and kind. The food came out at breakneck speed. I was genuinely shocked. Dessert was also scrumptious. Highly recommend the chocolate torta, though it is a bit pricey for the size.
As far as accessibility, there are stairs to get up to the entrances, many people waiting indoors, far distances to walk to tables, and tables were quite close together.

The waitstaff was extremely friendly, the atmosphere was nice, of a upscale dining experience. The food came out quickly and was delicious, only comment is the portion size which was a little on the smaller side. Would recommend the Verte salad, amazing vinaigrette delicious overall.

I had just come back from Italy, and this restaurant fed the piece of me that wants to go back. Everything was flavourful and authentic. The building is so grand and interesting, I don’t think I fully experienced it even with a trip to the bathroom. You have to order the caprese di bufula to start.
Debbie Hernandez - 3 months ago
An amazing setting for a very authentic dining experience. We ate as a group in what appeared to be a great hall or ballroom upstairs. There were 4 fireplaces and balconies overhanging our tables. Dark but fascinating decor throughout the building. The menu made everything sound very appealing. We had the lemon calamari, fungi salad, papparadelle and tagliatelle bolognese. The calamari was unremarkable and not distinguishable from pub fare. The funghi assolute, though, was very interesting, with a crisp, meaty feeling balanced by the arugula and balsamic. The papparadelle alla iosa was also very authentic, with a lovely, toothy mouth feel to the perfectly al dente noodles and a homemade, Nonna flavour to the sausage and sauce. The menu describes it as "spicy sauasge" but there was minimal, if any, heat to it. Still quite tasty.
Definitely an interesting and authentic Italian option in downtown.

lovely first time experience here! we had items from their lounge menu (before 4pm they offer mostly shareables, after 4pm it is their full menu); prawns, caesar salad, cheese toast. had their purple reign, feature cocktail (on that day it was their moscow mule), french 75, and an old-fashioned; all cocktails were satisfying and well-made. would have loved to stay for their dinner menu but we were quickly full! we will definitely be back for a second time to try their steaks. kudos to tanya, our wonderful server! she was super friendly and attentive throughout our whole experience.

One of the contenders for top steakhouse in Toronto for me!
You get the old school steakhouse atmosphere but in a really modern and beautiful space. The service we got from Tye was top notch.
Cocktails were great, a bit pricey for what you got but understandable for the place.
The food was absolutely amazing. The table side Caesar was one of the best salads I’ve ever had. Carpaccio was good but small.
We got the peppercorn and filet à la hys. Both were so juicy and tender! The sauces were perfect.
Finished with the table side bananas foster, which was delicious - wanted to lick the plate clean!
Will absolutely be back. What a great spot!

Went to Hy’s Steakhouse for my birthday and it was honestly one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The Beef Wellington was perfectly cooked, buttery, and full of flavor. The service was amazing too, super warm and attentive. Only thing is, they don’t give a free birthday dessert like The Keg — but the food was so good it still felt worth the splurge. Such a great way to celebrate my birthday!

This restaurant evokes a bygone era of refinement, with dark wood paneling, plush leather seats, and soft golden lighting that creates an air of quiet sophistication.
The Onion Soup set a remarkable precedent, its depth of flavour was truly exceptional.
For the mains, the Rack of Lamb was a masterclass in preparation. The meat was rendered to a flawless medium-rare, possessing a succulent, fork-tender texture and a clean, pronounced flavour that spoke of high-quality sourcing, just enhanced its richness without overpowering the natural taste of the lamb.
The Beef Wellington was a triumph of classic cuisine, a dish that demands technical precision. The flaky, golden-brown puff pastry enveloped a generous portion of tender, perfectly seared beef fillet, all cemented by a rich, earthy layer of duxelles. It was a harmonious balance of texture and intense flavour, executed with impressive skill.
The Pork Chop presented a beautiful pink interior, testament to precise cooking, yet it possessed a slight rough texture that contrasted with the dish's overall finesse. This was admirably balanced by the accompanying mashed potatoes, which were commendably light and non-greasy, an excellent complement to the savoury meat.
The presentation of the Caesar Salad and the Banana Ice Cream was a theatrical highlight, both being prepared tableside to perfection. This element of tableside preparation offered a touch of engaging performance and ensured the ultimate freshness of the dishes.
The service was impeccable, with the waiters clad in striking, loose-fitting, grey uniforms, lending a wonderfully vintage and distinctive atmosphere to the room.
We do have a unforgettable wonderful time in Hy's.

Had a great experience here!
We ordered the Chicken Caesar Salad, Veggie Pasta, and for dessert, the Belgian Waffle - everything was delicious and nicely presented. The flavors were fresh, and the portion sizes were just right.
Our server, Iris, was such a sweet and attentive lady, which made the experience even better.
Definitely recommend this place for a good meal and warm service!

A nice place to try. Multiple levels, fun atmosphere and from what I hear good tasting beer. Being celiac I couldn't drink the beer but the food looked good, the gf beverages were tasty and the vibe within the brewery was amazing.
It's well worth a stop to check out and enjoy some quality time by yourself or with friends and or family

I visit this place quite often, but this was my first time being seated on the second floor — and it was great.
I’ve always been seated on the first floor before, where it can get quite noisy and make conversations a bit difficult, but the upstairs area had a much calmer atmosphere and felt very comfortable and easy to talk in.
What I appreciated the most this time was how close the washrooms were.
From the first floor, it always felt like quite a long walk, which I found a bit inconvenient, but that wasn’t an issue at all upstairs.
The beer was, as always, excellent — consistently delicious.
The food portions felt a bit on the smaller side, and some dishes might be a little too modest for sharing with friends, but the taste was good.
Also, while I’ve never had particularly memorable service here before, this time the server was exceptionally friendly and made a great impression — probably the best experience I’ve had at this location so far.
After this experience, I feel even more eager to visit this place more often.
And if it’s possible to request a table upstairs, I definitely would.

Richmond Station delivers an outstanding dining experience. The burger is absolutely delicious, easily one of the best I’ve had, and the fries come with a perfectly balanced, creamy mayonnaise that elevates the dish even more. The steak was cooked to perfection, full of flavor and beautifully executed. I also had the mushroom soup as a starter, which was rich, comforting, and incredibly tasty. Overall, the food was flawless — a solid 10/10. Highly recommended.

Richmond Station delivers exactly what you want from a great night out: excellent food and genuinely warm service. The duck liver pâté and beef tartare were standout starters - rich, balanced, and a perfect way to kick off the evening. The burger was cooked to perfection, packed with flavor, and paired beautifully with crispy French fries. A consistently solid spot that never disappoints.

We had an incredible experience at Richmond Station! Every dish was exceptional — the salad was fresh and flavorful, the beef tartare and baked brie were absolutely delicious, and the duck and shrimp fettuccine were both cooked to perfection.
The espresso martini was one of the best I’ve had, and all of their house drinks were creative and well-balanced. We finished with the s’mores dessert, which was the perfect sweet ending.
But what really made the night unforgettable was the service — truly the best I’ve ever received. Every staff member interacts with guests, and you can tell they genuinely care about making your experience special. Warm, welcoming, and perfectly attentive from start to finish.
Richmond Station is easily one of the best dining experiences in the city. We’ll definitely be back!

I travel a lot for work and I'm something of a foodie. So when I get to a new city I often love to find a location that genuinely reflects local fare. Richmond station did that in amazing ways that led to a very tasty dinner.
I started with the carrot salad which was the highlight of the meal in my opinion. And I say that as an avid meat eater. The balance of sweetness and acidity, with the addition of the crunchy chickpeas led to a delicious exploration for my palate. I would have liked a bit more of the carrot puree on it though, because every bite that I had that was fully composed was transcendent. The puree was a delightful relief from the acidity of the slaw.
Next I had the pork belly, and you can tell that the meat is treated with the most utter care. The pork belly was perfectly crispy, though I like mine slightly more rendered. 100% a personal preference though. The richness of this dish perfectly encapsulated the seasonality of the meal. Something rich and hearty for the winter months. Personally I think it could be elevated a bit with some charred cabbage dressed with lemon and a bit of balsamic vinegar. Something with bitterness and acid to lightly cut through all the richness.
All in all, I don't think I could have picked a better spot to have some truly local cuisine. When in Toronto I'll l absolutely be back.

Been wanting to come here for a looong time. Finally came here with some colleagues for a team lunch (we reserved a table a little over a week prior). It was everything I hoped/expected it to be.
Good atmosphere and decor. Nice and bright. Service was spectacular.
There was so many different food choice and everything sounded and looked wonderful, but I landed on the duck sausage and it was delicious. Would absolutely want to come back again (hopefully soon)

I visited La Bettola di Terroni and, as an Italian, I have to say this place truly delivers.
The octopus was tender, juicy and full of flavour, cooked perfectly without being rubbery, which is not easy to get right. The chitarra alla Norcina were simply unbelievable. Fresh pasta, perfectly al dente, exactly how it should be. Rich, comforting and authentic.
To finish, I had a cannolo and, not going to lie, it genuinely put a smile on my face. Crisp shell, proper filling, and just the right sweetness.
This is the kind of Italian food that makes you feel at home, even when you’re not.
Maurizio Cucchiara - 2 weeks ago
Meals begin with a complimentary basket of white and whole-wheat Italian bread, served with olive oil and a spicy pepper bomba, a fiery spread that wakes up the palate and pairs beautifully with whatever pasta or pizza follows.
Their fettuccine alla bolognese ($26) is a safe choice. The sauce is done properly with plenty of meat (a beef and pork blend) with just enough tomato to tint it red. It clings nicely to the wide noodles that verge on pappardelle territory, though the dish could use a touch more seasoning and a snowfall of Parmesan to really shine.
The chitarra alla norcina ($30) starts off strong, with freshly shaved truffle prominently displayed on top. But then the crumbled sausage takes over, its oiliness overpowering the delicate flavors beneath. A pity, because the handmade pasta itself is good – chewy and satisfying.
Flavours deepen with the costoletta di manzo ($47), a hunk of braised beef short rib that’s both meaty and tender, perched atop a creamy polenta seasoned simply with its braising liquid. It’s a true secondi, comforting and rustic, but not quite enough to stand alone without a starter.
With barely a vegetable in sight, we added a side of rapini ($12), sautéed with just a whisper of garlic and chili flakes. It was a welcome burst of bitterness amid a sea of richness.
For those sensitive to salt, La Bettola di Terroni may be just right - the kitchen leans toward the under-seasoned side. It’s not a dealbreaker, and perhaps kinder on the heart, but I did find myself wishing for a saltshaker to perk up a few dishes.
When we arrived after work, the room was nearly empty, but by 6 pm it was buzzing with theatregoers heading to a show across the street. Reservations are wise. Service is efficient and knowledgeable, if not exactly warm... think brisk and businesslike rather than chatty and charming.

Bloody hell — this place is a knockout. From the moment my wife and I sat down, we knew we were in for something special. The atmosphere? Warm, buzzing, stylish without trying too hard. Proper Italian soul.
And the service? Outstanding. The wait staff weren’t just good — they were phenomenal. Attentive without being intrusive, anticipating our needs before we even asked. Professional, friendly, and sharp — exactly how service should be.
Now, the food — absolute perfection from start to finish.
Caprese con Mozzarella di Bufala: That mozzarella was like velvet. Creamy, fresh, it practically melted into the tomatoes and basil. A proper showcase of how simplicity can be bloody brilliant when the ingredients are top notch.
Tonnarelli Cacio e Pepe: This dish is a beast. Al dente pasta, glossy, coated in cheese and pepper, no nonsense. It’s comfort food elevated to fine dining. Honestly, one of the best versions I’ve ever had.
Beef Carpaccio: Thinly sliced, melt-in-your-mouth beef, peppery rocket, sharp Parmesan — balanced like a symphony. Fresh, vibrant, spot on.
Bread Basket with Olive Oil: Crunchy crust, soft center — dip it in that green-gold olive oil and you’re in heaven. Something so simple, but when it’s done right, it hits you hard.
Roasted Potatoes: Crispy skins, fluffy insides, seasoned just right. Rustic, earthy, bloody delicious.
Terroni Sour: Smooth, citrusy, balanced cocktail with a proper punch. Not too sweet, not too tart — just beautifully crafted.
Dessert – Italian Lemon Olive Oil Cake: Light, moist, kissed with citrus, dusted with sugar, almonds for crunch. It’s the sort of dessert that makes you close your eyes on the first bite. Absolutely sublime.
Every plate that came to the table was executed with precision, passion, and respect for the ingredients. Not a weak dish in sight. Pair that with flawless, attentive service and you’ve got a dining experience that’s hard to top.
This is how you do it: Buon Cibo. Buon Vino. Buoni Amici. They nailed every word on that wall.

Not for Vegans 👎
I went here for a work lunch. While the ambience was lovely and the staff were good, they didn't have anything substantial for a vegan to eat. I ate the Pasta Pomodoro with no vegan cheese or vegan protein substitute available.
The pasta was fine, but not filling. My colleagues didn't know I was vegan, else we would have chosen an alternate restaurant. They brought some good bread and olive oil which was nice.
Our waiting staff was confident the kitchen wouldn't customize a salad, so I was stuck with 2 dishes in an otherwise long menu. Their wine selection is vast and I am sure if you didn't have food restrictions you would have many options.
I can't give a higher rating as I walked out hungry.

The pasta was cooked perfectly, and the flavours were rich, and well balanced. The truffle added a really nice depth, and everything tasted fresh. The overall experience was really enjoyable.I’d definitely go back to try more items on the menu.

Did winterlicious here for lunch and it was fantastic!! We got sashimi for apps (small but delicious, my fave was the scallop), entree of sushi and cod both were fresh and fantastic. Finished off with matcha panna cotta which was very matcha forward (yay), but in my opinion the gold is superfluous so I just scraped it off. Will definitely come back!!

Outstanding experience. Went back for the Tasting Menu twice in a week! Authentic, fresh, delicious, well presented dishes. Much of the fish was flown in from Japan. The black cod was so flavorful, fresh and tender. Tomo’s unique yuzu ice cream is not to be missed! The staff are all gracious, welcoming, and friendly. They are also very conscientious about any food allergies. Highly recommended!

Visited Wednesday 5pm or happy hour, that is from 5-7pm. Greeted by friendly and efficient staff who speak Japanese and was considerate at my poor Japanese. Don't worry they speak English too. A very nice set up, quite and well decorated. Evenings are apparently, quite and they have more customers at lunch time that makes sense given their location. I went with the fried chicken and found it was delicious. Decent pieces of chicken and professionally cooked and served. There were a number of beverages available for happy hour including a nice selection of different sake. The green tea was also tasty. The prices were to be expected so the discount during happy hour was appreciated.

Trattoria Mercatto brings a warm, modern take on Italian dining right into the heart of the Eaton Centre. The space feels stylish yet relaxed, making it a comfortable stop for taking a break from shopping or meeting someone for a casual meal. With its open, lively atmosphere, friendly service and polished design, it strikes a nice balance between everyday dining and something a little special.
The menu focuses on classic Italian dishes—fresh pastas, pizzas, salads, and comforting mains—paired with a solid wine list.
We ordered “Beets & Ricotta” and “pollo alla Diavola”. The food was well-presented and mostly delicious, but a bit too salty.

Given the location it’s in I would say this is a great place to hang out and chill with some friends after work. The ambiance is quite nice. The server was very friendly and gave us seats even though we didn’t make a reso. We got the beet salad and it was good. The ricotta was very tasty. My friend had the gluten free pepperoni pizza. I thought this was good. I had one of the beef pastas. I thought it wasn’t bad but it didn’t blow me away either, it was a little light on the flavour. The portions are also quite small.

I’ve visited Trattoria Mercatto multiple times, mainly because its location in the Eaton Centre is so convenient after a long day of shopping. However, the service is consistently underwhelming. The servers rarely put in any effort to be friendly, it always feels very transactional rather than welcoming.
As for the food, I’ve tried several of their pastas and haven’t really enjoyed them, but their pizzas are pretty good, and the tiramisu is definitely a highlight. Overall, it’s a convenient spot with a couple of solid menu items, but the service and some of the dishes leave a lot to be desired.

Fast, attentive, and smooth. Our group was fairly large, but everything came out on time without any mix-ups.
Overall:
A genuinely authentic Italian spot that lives up to its reputation. I’d easily come back again, whether it’s for a team lunch or a casual meal. Highly recommended

Happy my Birthday , here in this lovely place, with extraordinary professional pasta. I had the white shrimp one and she had the beef and pork. Food was very divine. The cocktail was pink which I really loved. The extra cheese made my day. For the starter we had the fries which the dip was very unique. Deana made our visit a very supportive and very professional.thank you team.

I stopped in at Sunset Grill and really enjoyed my breakfast. The deluxe hot chocolate was amazing. It came with a big mountain of whipped cream and sprinkles on top, and it tasted as good as it looked. Sweet, cozy, and perfect for a cold day.
The avocado toast was loaded with toppings. Thick toast with lots of avocado, tomatoes, feta cheese, olives, and red onion. It was fresh and filling, not one of those tiny fancy toasts. If you like strong flavors, you’ll love it.
I also had the eggs Florentine. I didn’t get a picture of it, but it was tasty and comforting, exactly what you want from a breakfast plate.
Overall, the food looked great and tasted great. It’s a nice spot if you want a breakfast that feels a bit special and not rushed.
