Attached to the MARS District building is this Mercatto Italian restaurant.
Came here for lunch, food tasted delicious. We had their soup of the day, which was a squash based soup with a piece of toast. Ordered the Carbonara pasta and pan seared Rainbow Trout. Finished off with Lemon and Olive Oil cake.
Service was on point as the wait staff was courteous and took care of our table accordingly.
Decor and atmosphere is modern contemporary.

The atmosphere is great, such a nice and clean place. Staff were very kind and helpful, our food was very fresh also, but for us the dishes came in small portions. They have a range of tasty wines too.

Second Mercatto I have been to in Toronto and found a similar but slight different vibe from the other. ( not sure which one I went to, if you care, check my reviews from last year) I had the same thing as before because I raved about the lasagna so much and had to try it again. I was pleasantly surprised that it was mostly the same, with actually more ricotta (or mascarpone) in the layers. The salad was actually better than the first, better dressed. I had the gelato and still crave a pistachio flavour when dining Italian. Will be back! My friends raved about their meals including the well done steak, looked over done to me but she said it was perfect for her! Well done again Mercatto

When I arrived at the restaurant front desk, this woman in blazer saw me but decided to ignore me and continue talking to other employee.
When I requested a table for two, this woman gave me a very rude attitude, especially toward other employee who seem like new hire.
When I told them that I called ahead before coming to the restaurant to see if they have a table available for 2, this woman almost yelling at the other employee they have no table available. But ended up giving us a table.
Our table server was friendly but hard to get an attention. I had to ask other employee to get a water refill, and he ended up leaving my water cup empty until i paid my bill.
Insalata Verde Salad: was not worth $16. Was just plain greens with a hint of pine nuts. The portion was small
Carbonara: was average, but pepper was overpowering everything
Linguine di mare: was okay. Nothing special but more of bland flavour.
I would like to give another try since there are more good reviews, but i will need to avoid for while

Great Italian restaurant with nice atmosphere! Food was DELICIOUS and very filling (easy to over order). Personally enjoyed their lasagna it was my favourite. Their handmade pizza is very thin and smaller than expected, but still tasted amazing.

I’ve been pleased to see more and more vegetarian options at Swiss Chalet: the veggie burger plus a few sides and appetizers first, then a vegetable stir fry, and now a veg pot pie. The choice of vegetables may be a bit unimaginative, but the portion was large, the sauce rich but not heavy, and the puff pastry crust was lovely. My side of fries were the standard Swiss Chalet style, which people seem to either love or hate (I’m in the first category), and came hot and fresh. Our server was friendly but I did feel a bit rushed despite the restaurant being nearly empty. The decor is standard Swiss Chalet, but I’m bumping them up to a five because I liked their holiday decorations.

Excellent service from this location, food came out fast and my server was very nice to me. However, some of the fries were less crispy than I expected. I got my meal in the morning which may be the reason to that. Other than that, I definitely recommend this location.

Directions; what a walk to get there. Difficult to find reason is hidden gem. In area called Hospital Row on University Ave. Downtown is down below street level. Signage not visible, passed right by on other side of the street. Finally when we got there we had to wait to be sitted. Once in had a nice shared dish ordered the two leg dinner. Save yourself & other a meal get one for the two of you. Plus drinks can get costly so this is one way to save. Why not! See this way you can dine out. Not overeat. Have more room for dessert or drinks.

We have been going a lot lately for the 2 can dine special and we have had the pleasure of Brenda looking after us. She is very nice and efficient! Tonight was the return of the festive special. The food here is always amazing and consistent.

By far, one of the most, if not THE most beautiful, outdoor patios I've ever seen in Toronto. I'm beyond shocked that a Swiss Chalet location, of all places, would have such a nice place for summertime.
I put photos and videos because words alone will not do justice
However, what's keeping me from giving it 5 stars is the bad service. It was extremely slow, and our server was pretty unfriendly. Another one of the on duty servers whom we asked for napkins from was extremely rude and unpleasant. So I think they need some fresh talent to take over.

Easy place to get food when visiting a patient at the hospital or during your break if you’re working.
The staff are very friendly and quick. I received a pretty good amount of food for the price I paid. I would definitely recommend grabbing a bite here if you’re in search of a lunch.

Not worth $15 for the portion I got. The cashier was friendly and the presentation of the food I got was good. When I ordered the cashier asked what side I would like and I chose the wedges option. I thought this was going to be an actual side but instead it was under my shawarma meat. The dill on the wedges was way too much dill. Throughout the whole meal all I tasted was dill. Usually shawarma bowls have a lot of meat. I felt that this bowl had more fries and not enough meat. Also my bowl was made inside and I did not see the meat freshly shredded. Should give the option of putting on dressing and ingredients in front of the customer. This store already put everything on before bringing it out. If I had the option I would have opted out of some of the salads with tomatoes (personal preference) none the less they should ask customer. Also food was served after 8 minutes of ordering. Should be faster for a fast food place. Overall taste was okay.

This is the best Me Va Me in Toronto. There is something very special about this location. They use extremely fresh ingredients and their falafel laffa wrap cannot be beat. Having tried this same order at many locations throughout the city, the Me Va Me inside of Mount Sinai is by far the best. I’ve been going to this location for years and they are incredibly consistent. Their team is very helpful and friendly, and they take pride in the quality they offer.

Got the chicken shawarma wrap and bowl with fries. Flavours were good however where they lose marks is that both the chicken and wrap were ice cold. Also noticed the chef eating over the counter and the gentleman who was preparing the bowl at the back did not use gloves. Dissapointing experience considering $32.00 for only two items

Such a neat concept and delicious food! They measure the cost by weight, so that’s something to be aware of. But even with the various ingredients I put, it was still pretty affordable. The staff were also incredibly friendly. A must try near UofT campus.

I come here at least once a week. The ingredients are all fresh and there is a big variety of them. The soup (especially the medium spice signature soup) tastes amazing and I crave it very often. It’s so close to uoft campus and the price is very student friendly (i usually eat around $10-$12). The staffs are all very nice. I’m not Chinese, so I can’t comment on the authenticity of the food, but I can for sure say that the food tastes great.

Basically mainland Asia version of Deer Garden - more selection but more expensive. Very casual, fast Asian foods. Bright with several seatings, good for students that want to drop by for a quick lunch. Fast service: only took about 10 mins from picking ingredients to getting your food!
You get to pick your own ingredients where they make it into a hotpot stew for you. You just grab what you want into the bowl and bring it up to the counter, remember to put noodles into your bowl too! When you bring it up, they basically just add the soup and boil it for you.
$8.99/lb choose your own soup (signature spicy soup). Very yummy, 4 levels of spicy - got regular and it was pretty weak.
$4.50 whole lemon black
/green tea - pretty good but wouldn't recommend paying for this (cost: lemon $0.5 + tea $0.25, that's a 600% markup).
4 stars for the food, relatively pricey for what you're getting so 3 stars.

Tastes great! Quake eggs are delicious! So are the udon noodles. Can be a a bit pricey if you fill up your bowl, the first time you try it you'll likely add too many toppings ;) Seating is a bit weird as there is a long communal table and then some more tables in the middle (space is limited, especially lunch and dinner). you will likely be sitting next to someone else. Also this meal is better for eat-in than take-out.
Great spin on noodle soup. You place your choice of noodles, vegetables, meat, tofu, fish, etc. into your bowl. They weigh your bowl (price depends on the weight), and then your select how spicy the broth will be and have a choice of adding additional meat. No credit cards accepted.

I like dinning here when it is not crowded. The noodle soup is really good and price is reasonable. Conveniently located beside U of T campus.

Okay chain restaurant that specializes in soup with some salad options. Soup menu is varied but all the soups are clearly from a tin. So don't expect anything special.
Services at this location is very unfriendly and indifferent. I understand that these women have a unfulfilling job but they don't have to take that out on the costomer. After all they are employed and I'm sure that there are many high school students who would be happy with the job.
