Lwh is a high end dimsum restaurant. Dim sum is not just food , but an art. The koi dumplings are the most special and beautiful. It is so beautiful that you dont want to eat it. The dumpling is filled with shrimp and scallops mixture. The lychee shrimp ball is another art piece. The shrimp ball is deep fried (very crunchy) but made it look like a lychee. The shrimp dumpling and siu mei are ok. The deep fried pear shape thing is actually 咸水角, the skin is made by stick rice dough and deep fried perfectly. The filling is meat with black truffles...... very good. The red ball is actually foie gras. Unique. The short ribs are honey glaze. To have lunch here is not just food and art but also enjoyment and entertainment. You will be surprised by lwh.

I want to give this place a higher rating, but to be honest, the food is just on par with most dim sum restaurants in Toronto but the price is about 2X or more. So for the price, I can't give it more than a 3star. Yes the atmosphere is nice and the service is good, but not worth the price.
The dim sum is kind of the same as you will find at most dim sum restaurants but they add some truffle or a small touch of difference here and there (mostly in presentation), but the result in the flavour is negligible.
The service was good and the atmosphere is nice (but perhaps a tad staid). Everyone has their view of luxury, but for me, it really comes down to the food for a restaurant.
They offer a wide range of options for tea which is nice and the quality of the tea is good.
They do validate parking which is a good perk.

Lai Wah Heen is a long‑respected Cantonese restaurant in downtown Toronto, known for its refined dim sum and elegant dining style. It first opened in 1995 and quickly earned praise for its high‑quality dishes. After a period of closure, the restaurant has been refreshed and reopened in the same location inside the DoubleTree by Hilton, with a modern, upscale look that still feels warm and inviting.
The menu focuses on traditional Cantonese flavours made with great care and premium ingredients. The beautifully prepared dim sum is very popular, but the full menu also offers many classic dishes with thoughtful presentation.
It offers both à la carte and Tasting menu. We ordered “Special Her al Tea Pot”, “Scallop & Shrimp Dumplings”, “Free Run Chicken” and finished on a sweet note with “Fresh Milk Tart”. The food was fresh and tasty and beautifully served.
The staff are attentive and friendly. The restaurant has a warm and cozy atmosphere.

We had an amazing time at Lai Wah Heen. We ordered the general tso chicken and peeking duck friend rice.
Loved the crispy elements on both dishes and the fried rice was really good the smoky flavours were delicious. The drinks we ordered were also good. Not great some pairings didn’t really go super well together. But the food more than made up for it.
The service was exceptional and the ambience was amazing. Everything was clean and I loved the little touches to elevate our experience. Seating was spacious and I really appreciated that! Excited to come back and try more of their food!

Stepping into Lai Wah Heen, a sense of luxury immediately enveloped us, every corner exuding nobility and elegance. Exquisite tableware and magnificent decorations all showcase the restaurant's high-end quality. Crucially, the chefs' focused, persistent, and meticulous craftsmanship in the cooking process, their artful handling of ingredients, and their pursuit of ultimate perfection and innovation in colour, aroma, taste, and presentation!
Every dish was as exquisite and delicious as a work of art. Their culinary skills were superb, and every spoonful and every turn reveals their profound cooking expertise!
Picture 1 & 2, Scallop & Prawn Dumpling. The koi dumplings were so lifelike that we almost didn't want to eat them! The dumplings were fresh, fragrant, and rich!
Picture 3, Crab Roe Xiao Long Bao. we took a bite of a dumpling and the soup flowed perfectly. The Xiao Long Bao was fresh, juicy, thin-skinned, and generously filled. After finishing the Xiao Long Bao, we sipped the fresh crab broth spoonful by spoonful, feeling completely blissful!
Picture 4, Candied Foie Gras. The "cherry" melted in the mouth immediately, and the rich aroma of the foie gras was unforgettable!
Picture 11, Foraged Mushroom Dumpling ( Black Truffle Fungus Dumpling ). We took a bite of the dumpling and tasted the secrets of the forest over thousands of years! To savour the aftertaste and it was unforgettable!
We all thoroughly savoured this sumptuous feast! The service was excellent!
We highly recommend that you come and experience the delicious food here!
May Lai Wah Heen's business prosper and its wealth increase!

Karine's is a treasure! It's been a long time since I've had the chance to eat in this area, and I immediately came here. I ordered a breakfast special mini and a green lemonade (with spinach, how cool is that!). This was not mini - it was a wonderful, delicious, filling meal. I had the eggs over easy, garlic fries, sausage. Such amazing value, such vibrant and juicy flavours, and look at all the fruit! And a giant glass bottle of fresh lemon-lime water on top of that! The staff are always so sweet and lovely; it really is like coming to your favourite restaurant where everyone knows you, but as a charming food court stall bursting with colour and life.
Grateful you're still here! We're so lucky to have a place like this in Toronto!

Freshly made breakfast and brunch options inside a food court!! The owner is so sweet and always checks if you are enjoying your food. Impeccable service.

Wow, i have celiacs disease and the food and staff were amazing. Just about everything can be made gluten free and the food was fantastic. The amount of food was almost too much (in a good way) and the plating was very well done. I had the breakfast sandwich one day and was so impressed I went back again the next day to get the Karines Supreme with gluten free French toast. I gave the atmosphere a 4 star since it’s in a cafeteria, but it was clean and the service was really exceptional. My partner had the regular Karines supreme breakfast and he also was impressed with his meal.

truly an incredible experience for a food court! the lovely woman who took our orders was so warm and welcoming, she came over to our table and wiped it down, and delivered our food to the table with flowers! my friend got a pink lemonade and i didn’t, but she gave me a free one too! truly special and feels like home!

Finally had a chance to visit this top rated hakka restaurant in Toronto driving in from Barrie. Having been a fan of hakka food and growing up in Scarborough I have had the opportunity to eat in many Hakka restaurants. We visited around 130 pm and the restaurant was already half full having only opened at 12 for lunch. Our family of 4 was extremely hungry ( 2 vegetarians). We ordered: mixed vegetable fried rice. I was a bit disappointed they dont offer a manchurian or schezuen version which is what I am used to. Nevertheless very flavourful. Shrimp pakoras...not as much shrimp and spicy. I felt like it could have used more indian flavours to be honest. Manchurian tofu my wife ordered extra spicy. She loved the flavours but said she was hoping the dish would have had a kick. Mixed vegetable and tofu was good. Fresh, crisp and the star of this dish was the bok choy. On recommendation of a friend who has eaten here many times got the manchurian chicken. One of the best manchurian chicken dishes I have had! Another recommendation was the shrimp in lobster sauce. There was a lot of sauce and I guess I was expecting more of a lobster taste which I didnt find. Our waiter Justi ( i believe is his name) was an older gentleman who you can tell enjoys his job very much. He always kept us informed as to the wait time of our food and was very engaging. We noticed this with his interaction with other patrons. He was also very funny. The restaurant was very clean and we saw a lot of people waiting for take out. Overall this was a very good experience. I might be a bit more critical of the food as I have enjoyed hakka food for over 40 years. Only reason for the 4 out of 5 stars is the spice level that wasnt there after requesting it and the shrimp pakoras taste. However still a great experience and will be back!

Been craving Hakka for a while and bookmarked Yueh Tung after seeing their social media / daughters storytelling. Decided to bring my girl for our valentines dinner. Food was amazing. Special shoutout to Yuki for the amazing service she provided. Great experience overall. Will definitely return with friends. Thanks you and Happy Chinese New Year

I'm no stranger to yueh tung's incredible food & friendly service. my mom has been eating here since she first immigrated to canada, nearly 40 years ago, and I've been coming here for as long as I can remember. every relative that visits the city or group of friends looking for a place to go out to eat and are not sure where, we take them to yueh tung. the atmosphere has changed over the years, but the food and service has remained the same; amazing quality, family style portions and leaving with bellies and hearts full. prepare to climb a flight of stairs when you enter. I assure you however, it will be 100% worth it!
there are so many yummy dishes I can recommend, but here are a few of my family's go to dishes when we order: chicken chow mein, chicken in hot pot, beef with chinese broccoli, fried calamari (ask for plum sauce on the side), snow pea leaves sautéed in garlic, chicken fried rice, dry chili chicken on a sizzling hot plate (ask for gravy on the side), flat rice noodles with black bean sauce and beef. honestly, I can go on forever.
the point is, yueh tung deserves all the hype it gets! I hope this is still around for another 40+ years. i've always dreamed of bringing my own family and children here, just like my mom did. thank you yueh tung, for the many years of wonderful memories and delicious food served!

This place came up on my YouTube feed. This place is the original Hakka restaurant in Toronto. Being a fan of this cuisine I had to check it out. This place does not disappoint. The chili chicken was really good. The fried rice was good, and the chicken corn soup was great! I did come back a few days later for lunch and tried the Manchurian fish. This was also really good. If you’re in the area or in the mood for good Hakka, make sure you come here.

I went in for the Appy Hour deal, and it was pretty solid! A small but still good portion of protein on rice is $5.50 with the purchase of a drink, and I could add veggies for $2.50. They gave a pretty good amount of chili chicken, and it was great with the savory sauce. I wish it had a tad more heat though. The mango lassi also lacked the traditional yogurt taste, but it was still refreshing. I think I'll have to come back to try more dishes with a larger group!

Kyoto Sushi House is surprisingly busy at 3pm on a weekday. I was expecting a private dining experience, but the place was 80% filled. Filled with small tables and several solo diners, many seem to be students filling up on the all-you-can-eat lunch ($21.99) that remains in effect until 5pm.
You’re not going to find amazing food but it’s not terrible either. My favourite item was their chicken udon, which arrives piping hot with chewy noodles, a flavourful broth, napa cabbage and slices of grilled teriyaki chicken. It’s better than having their single order of teriyaki chicken that’s a bit dry without the soup.
I’m glad their carbs come in personal sized bowls. With that said, I’d skip their way too oily fried rice and stick with sushi instead.
Having doubts about consuming budget raw fish, I focused on cooked items like the shrimp tempura and unakyu rolls. The former was fishy tasting, likely because the frying oil isn’t changed regularly, but the eel and cucumber roll was surprisingly good, the requisite combination of crunchy cucumber and meaty sweet seafood.
For the nigiri, I opted to try the tofu skin sushi. Interestingly they don’t stuff the rice into the sweet burn curd pocket, rather binds it on top of the rice. It was what you’d expect… cool, sweet, and juicy.
The only raw ingredient I tried was the crispy spicy salmon roll and the fishy tempera bits made me regret ordering it. In fact, all their fried items we tried - Japanese spring rolls, deep fried dumpling, yam tempura, and fried calamari – are too oily, cheap quality, and tasteless.
I wish the miso soup arrived with the fried platter to have something to wash the oiliness away.
At least I had plenty of room for dessert, ordering a scoop of the red bean and green tea ice creams. They’re like what you’ll find at buffets but satisfies the sweet tooth.
Despite being busy, Kyoto Sushi House offers efficient and friendly service. The food arrives quickly so you can get in tons of turns to stuff your face. One perk about visiting during off hours is they didn’t enforce the 1.5-hour seating limit, allowing us to with around and talk after our meal. When will linner become the new brunch?

Great all-you-can-eat sushi spot with lots of variety. Prices are fair, and even though it gets a bit noisy, it didn’t bother us at all. The salmon was fresh and tasty — totally satisfying! Definitely recommend it if you love sashimi.
Tiffany - 4 months ago
I recently ordered the sashimi platter from Kyoto House, and it was exceptional. The fish was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented.
The salmon was buttery and rich, the tuna was perfectly lean, and the surf clams and octopus had a wonderful, firm texture. You can really tell they prioritize quality here. Even the sides of ginger and wasabi were generous and fresh.
The packaging was neat and secure, making it a great option for takeout. If you’re looking for authentic, high-quality Japanese sashimi, Kyoto House is definitely the place to go. Highly recommended!

For a downtown location, Kyoto House's AYCE sushi is affordable (esp for nearby uni students).
Small portions allow for better pacing and less food waste. Though menu variety may be somewhat limited, they still offer great options for appetizers, sashimi, and Maki rolls.

My friends and I came for dinner last night and it was fantastic. We had a great seat near the open wall and the food was impeccable. We all ordered something different so we can all try one another’s food. It was all 10/10. Smoked German sausages were so delicious. They also had pretty cool cocktails and the strawberry beer was 20/10

Sin & Redemption has a nice vibe and the service was genuinely good — the staff was friendly and attentive. The ambiance is also enjoyable for a night out. However, I found the prices a bit too high for what was offered. The food didn’t quite meet my expectations, and overall, it didn’t feel worth the price. While the place has potential, the quality of the dishes doesn’t match the cost.

First time here and the atmosphere was very pleasant. It didn’t have a really fishy smell like some other restaurants I’ve been to. Came in for a takeout but stayed since it was so nice. My order came out super fast too. I’ll definitely be a regular!!

I don’t usually write reviews unless something truly wows me so here I am. I ate here for dinner tonight and I was shocked at how good everything was. The atmosphere is very cozy and intimate. It’s a romantic, chill dining experience with only 6-7 tables total. I ordered the sushi deluxe which came with miso soup and the usual ginger salad. But the salad was anything but usual. It was amazing. I usually don’t like the store bought ginger dressing that most places use but this one was clearly homemade and made to perfection. I actually drank the remaining dressing. Same with the miso. It’s clearly made from scratch and taste so much richer and tastier. The sushi itself was fresh and decadent. Very tasty. The salmon avocado roll that I upgraded too was great size and delicious. Definitely come here when in Downtown Toronto!!!!

Japango was absolutely amazing!! We went around 7pm and there was no wait for a table but be aware they have limited seating about 7 tables. We waited a bit for our food and the server came over with free edamame for us due to the wait but it was definitely worth it! The sushi was amazing we also ordered the Takoyaki Balls which were delicious as well! For 2 people we got the 4B and 5A and it was very filling! We also got the blue fin tuna belly which basically melted in your mouth! Will be back soon!

This was my first visit to Japango, a cozy Japanese sushi restaurant, and it left a great impression! My friend and I ordered the Sashimi Dinner Set (with rice and miso soup) and the Tempura Udon Set. The sashimi was a standout—featuring tuna, salmon, butterfish, black seabream, and BC albacore, it was incredibly fresh and beautifully presented. Each piece had a distinct, delicate flavor that made every bite memorable. My friend raved about the tempura, which was perfectly crispy and fresh, though the portion felt a bit small compared to the generous sashimi set. The restaurant is compact, with tightly packed seating, which can feel a bit cramped, but the warm atmosphere and attentive service made up for it. Overall, Japango is a gem for sushi lovers—highly recommend giving it a try!

Visited this very fine Indian restaurant on a Saturday for their lunch buffet. The restaurant quickly filled with ethnic Indians who knew this place had amazing Indian food, friendly staff, and welcoming service. The host continuously checked on us and encouraged us to try more but we were quickly full. The quality and quantity of the dishes we sampled were all generous and outstanding. The goat curry had huge pieces of goat, the tandoori chicken was succulent, and the paneer was homemade and absolutely amazing. We tried a little of everything (see pictures) and wished we could eat more. This is a great Indian restaurant and we'll be back.

Stopped by Cafe Plenty in Toronto — they have two locations, and I visited the Dundas one. The space has a warm, welcoming café atmosphere that feels relaxed and comfortable, making it a great spot for a work-week lunch or coffee break. The menu focuses on simple, well-executed café-bistro dishes, perfect when you want something satisfying without feeling too heavy.
I ordered the ham and cheese sandwich, which was fresh, well balanced, and comforting in a classic way, along with a brownie that was rich and indulgent without being overwhelming. Everything was prepared quickly, making it an ideal stop when you’re short on time.
The service stood out — the staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which really elevated the overall experience.
Overall, it’s an easy, reliable lunch spot with cozy vibes, kind service, and quality food. Definitely worth checking out during the work week if you’re in the area.

If you used to Tim Hortons coffee, the small size is equivalent to their medium size. I recently spent $15 on a simple sandwich here, only to discover that it was not fresh and had been made the day before.

Every time I step into this beautiful cafe (open for thirteen years) I’m delighted with the unique and hospitable experience - nourishing and inviting. Now, sitting at the window counter, I’m eyeing the lunch treats and the freezer for take outs… maybe later on my way back from the AGO - just a few minutes walk from here. I savoured a custom latte with an oatmeal cranberry cookie as I thought about posting this review. So here it is. And, I’m ready to enjoy the incredible art at the gallery. Thank you again Cafe Plenty. See you soon.

The wrap I had was healthy and delicious; they used a good selection of fresh ingredients. The side salad was also fresh. The hot chocolate was a bit less sweet than I would have liked, but other than that it was a pleasant experience; a place for a brief respite.

This place used to be Ciao Pizzeria which is one of my favourite pizza in downtown Toronto.
Now it has become a chain pizza location and not really happy about it.
But when pizza cravings hit you, I guess you have to bite the bullet so decided to try their pizza slices - Honey Heat & Honululu.
The Honey Heat pizza with the spicy chili flakes, tiny cup pepperoni, goey, melted mozzarella and then topped with honey are a match made in pizza heaven.
The Honolulu is my least fave between the two as it's more on the salty side.
Both pizza could benefit more with additional toppings as I find that they are skimping on toppings.
But at least their pizza is decent and doesn't taste like cardboard compared to other so called franchise pizza places.

Service was amazing, very friendly, doesn’t rush you when you order, and explains everything clearly! Pizza tasted so fresh and so goood. And the atmosphere was really nice - super clean inside !!

Clean, easy to get to, delicious and in the best area in Toronto (the art gallery area) 😁🌈
The pizza was tasty, thin crusted and amazing, perfect for any mouth of any size. The restaurant itself was very clean and the service was very friendly. 😁❤️
I highly recommend checking this place out if you're ever in the art gallery area and you need to eat pizza after. I guess art makes people hungry for pizza. 🍕🍕
You will definitely see me back here eventually.

Try the double truffle 😍 it was amazing and the price for slice and a drink is less than 7 dollars, are you kidding me? ❤️
Definitely come back with my fam ☺️
