I was walking by and it smelled so nice! I had to go in and the served recommended me padthai dish. It wasn’t a typical padthat, yummy noodles with orangy sauce. So delicious and filling! Price was ok.

There’s a specific kind of stillness that hits when you walk a stretch of Church Street you haven’t truly seen in years. I wasn't looking for a meal as much as I was just moving through the evening, catching those old echoes of Fred and the way the city used to feel.
I stepped into Ginger almost by accident a sudden hunger meeting a place I’d written off as 'probably changed.' But then, the pork Banh Mi happened.
One bite and the last fifteen years just... folded. It wasn't just a sandwich; it was a sensory anchor. The crunch of the bread was the exact same frequency as a decade and a half ago. It’s rare for a physical space to hold onto its soul like that while everything around it shifts. In that moment, between the sidewalk and the first bite, I wasn't just visiting an old haunt. I was reminded that we’re still here, and some parts of the story never actually left

Bumpkin's Restaurant & Lounge is a place I’ve been to a few times and always enjoy. The space is larger than it appears, set within an interesting building and thoughtfully laid out, including an upstairs area that works very well for private events. Inside, it has a subtle private club feel, especially with the fireplaces adding a warm, inviting atmosphere. The service is consistently excellent. The owner and staff are genuinely kind, welcoming, and attentive, and it shows. The food is tasty and well executed, with classic dishes done properly. A great choice for a relaxed but elevated dinner, celebrations, or hosting a private event.

My husband and I had an amazing supper here! It’s always rewarding to dine in such a special, historic place, but having the owner personally serve our meal at the highest standards made the evening truly exceptional. The care they take in preparing real food—where every delicate flavor shines through—makes a big difference. Fresh flowers on the table added a charming touch. We’ll definitely be back. Prices are very reasonable considering the outstanding quality of both food and service. Highly recommended!

Amazing experience at Bumpkin's! We had the Scallops Seafood Maison and the Lamb with Shrimp. Absolutely excellent taste and great presentation.
The owner served us and treated us uniquely and made everything even better. Will definitely come back and recommend the place!

I have known of Bumpkins back in the early 80’s as I dined there at a work company Christmas party.
Just this past summer I was looking for a nice quiet restaurant and Bumpkins came to mind, I wondered if they were still around? I was surprised to see they are still around.
By chance on a walk around along Yonge St looking for a place to have dinner, I was at the corner of Gloucester and Yonge St, I went into Bumpkins and had the

I highly recommend Bumpkins, they also have a great Brunch Menu

This long-established restaurant first opened in the 1970s, and the current team has been running it since 2000. The interior has a charming vintage atmosphere that feels both elegant and comfortable.
The service was exceptional. The gentleman who has been working there since 2000 was very friendly and talkative, taking the time to introduce the menu and offer recommendations. Although we only ordered one French onion soup, the generous chef kindly prepared two servings for us. The soup was rich, flavorful, and packed with ingredients—definitely a highlight of the meal.
For our main courses, we chose the steak and the lamb chops. The shrimp side dish was well-prepared, with a pleasant texture and good flavor. As for the steak, I ordered it medium-rare, but it was cooked closer to medium. The lamb chops, however, were cooked very well and had an excellent texture.
Overall, the seasoning on the main dishes was fairly light, and some guests may prefer to add a bit of salt themselves. That said, considering this restaurant’s long history and the number of loyal regular customers who continue to dine here, I believe it fully deserves a five-star rating.

We stopped in for dinner. They make delicious Breaded Veal Cutlet and Chicken sandwiches! Who knew? (tip: ask for extra sauce, and cheese). A tasty change from their great pizza! Nice, clean indoor dinning spot, too. Good value!

Pizza Nova offers a solid pizza experience at a reasonable price. I recently visited and tried their combo deal, which included two pizzas of my choice for around $20. Given the price, I wasn’t expecting anything extraordinary, but I was pleasantly surprised. The pizzas were fresh, well-made, and had a good balance of toppings and cheese. The crust was just the right mix of crispy and soft, making for an enjoyable bite.
The place itself was decent—nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable enough to sit and eat. It had a casual atmosphere, perfect for a quick meal. The staff were kind and welcoming, which added to the positive experience. They prepared my order quickly and made sure everything was to my liking.
Overall, Pizza Nova is a good option if you’re looking for an affordable and tasty meal. While it may not be the best pizza I’ve ever had, it definitely delivers in terms of value for money. If you’re in the mood for a quick, satisfying bite without spending too much, this is a great choice. I’d definitely consider coming back for another combo deal

October 2023: Sunday dinner & craving pizza. Ordered delivery for 10 hot chicken wings, a Deluxe and the Napoletana (it has anchovies*.) * Hard to find these days.
Delivery was quick & polite, the pizzas were delicious & the wings were moist with just enough kick.
Nice of them to include a complimentary jar of their sauce in celebration of their 60th anniversary.
***
Previously: I weep for this generation as they will never have the pleasure of biting into a Pizza Nova veal sandwich of old. If it weren't for the bread, sauce and add ons of cheese, onions and mushrooms well, just see the pic. You get a thin piece of je ne sais quoi.
The Hawaiian slice was crisp and tasty, the Staff pleasant but seemed bored. To be expected working on a Holiday and with two customers in the whole place but you do have a paying job so be happy for that.
The restaurant is clean. The carpets need a good vacuum.
The wings, ordered hot were hot 🔥 and good enough to wake up the taste buds.
I just wouldn't go back for the veal.

I had an amazing experience at this Ethiopian restaurant.
My partner and I had ordered the vegetarian bayaaynatu and meat bayaaynatu - everything was so good…full of flavour, perfectly spiced, and incredibly satisfying!!! It was great being able to try a variety of dishes all on one platter. The atmosphere was very nice and cozy, and the incense burning in the restaurant really amplified the experience, making it feel authentic and welcoming.
Overal, the food and the ambiance made it a memorable meal, and I would definitely go back again.

The manager was super kind, allowing us to reserve for a group of 6 within a same-day notice. The vegetarian bayaaynatu was really good! Everyone in the group enjoyed their food and found the portions to be really filling. The food was presented well and tasted just as good as it looked.

Two great visits on quiet Thursday nights. Matt was behind the bar both nights, a cool, friendly, welcoming person. And the second time the most lovely Souhail was also working. I just had wine but the cocktails look amazing. This is a place to talk, it’s not too loud. I felt very at home and the place just feels welcoming and kind of intimate in a non-sleezy way.

Whenever my route passes by this Pizza Nova location, I always stop in for a slice. I pass by other locations on the way too, but honestly this one has been the best in Toronto for me. The pizza is always fresh, the toppings are generous, and the staff are friendly every time I come in. The store is clean and you can tell the team takes pride in what they do. It’s become my go-to spot whenever I’m in the area. Highly recommend.
Simply Vending - 4 months ago
Today we visited this pizzeria. I’ve often noticed it on my way home — it really catches the eye from the street. The interior is cozy and beautiful, and the large windows make the place feel warm and comfortable.
The staff were very friendly, and there was a great variety of pizzas to choose from. We decided to go with a classic — a slice of pepperoni pizza — and we didn’t regret it at all! It was delicious, with thin, perfectly baked dough and just the right amount of crispness.
Will I come back again? Yes, definitely! To write a more complete and honest review, I’ll return for a whole pizza next time.
Pros: friendly staff, cleanliness, great pizza selection, convenient location, and cozy interior.
Cons: none so far.

Ordered wings well done and they came with the flesh looking uncooked.. only thing edible that night was the wedges .. 3 stars because of the wings but the lady in the front was real nice so would give them another try only because I’ve had pizza nova from other locations and the wings are never under cooked especially when I ask for well done! Check your food before leaving.

Exactly what you expect — hot, cheesy, and hits the spot. No surprises here (in a good way).
Classic chain-style pizza, fast delivery, and everything was made right.
The pizza box is already empty, if that tells you anything. Sometimes you just want the reliable comfort of a familiar slice — and this delivered.
I recommend thin crust. It's always done right!
Check for great deals on Uber Eats.
Will definitely order again when the craving hits.

All I can say is their wings are always bomb.com! Never disappoints and consistently fresh and delicious. I'm not a big fan of pizza but theirs is actually better than most chains. Their ingredients are more gourmet and the variety of quality toppings are waaay better than other places. This is the location I always choose to order from now.

We had the butter chicken and paneer makhani and both were excellent! We also ordered garlic naan and it was given to us free of charge (I think something about the size being small, so we were given two complimentary servings). This was my first time eating fresh garlic naan, and it was so, so good. There was only one waitress, but she was attentive and checked in frequently. Spice level 2 is good for people who can tolerate some spice but aren't sure where to start.

It’s a small restaurant and easily missed but it has a really cozy vibe because of how small it is. The food was perfectly portioned for two of us and was decently priced. The curry was really flavourful and the garlic naan itself was also very savoury.
It was overall a nice experience and I would definitely recommend this for someone looking for comfort Indian food.

I recently visited Kothur Restaurant with several colleagues from work and had a very enjoyable experience. The restaurant is small, cozy, and authentic, creating a welcoming atmosphere that feels true to traditional Indian dining.
The food was delicious, flavorful, and well-prepared. It is an ideal spot for a lunch outing with coworkers if you're looking to enjoy good Indian cuisine without traveling far from the office.
One suggestion for improvement would be the portion size of the special lunch menu, particularly the dessert. While the meal was enjoyable, the portions could be slightly larger to provide better value and complement the overall dining experience. It would also be great if there were a few more dessert options available.
Overall, the quality of the food, the authentic atmosphere, and the convenient location make this a place I would happily recommend and visit again.

I had a great experience at Kothur Indian Cuisine. The chilli wings were perfectly cooked with a delicious balance of spice and flavor, and the garlic naan was soft, fresh, and packed with garlic and butter. Everything tasted fresh, and the service was friendly. I'll definitely be coming back to try more dishes. Highly recommend!

Kothur Indian cuisine is small and quiet place to have an authentic mostly South Indian food. I used to work nearby 2 years back and was a frequent customer to this place. Recently I visited again, the place is still running and I happy to see that it is busier than usual. Their food is delicious especially the Gobi Manchurian. We also had malai kofta and panner butter masala which were tasty. I really liked the utensils in which they served food. It’s Classic. Their focus is on food and not on bar which is perfect to have a meal. Will definitely keep coming back.

This is one of my favourite Tim Hortons in the city. There's a lot of space if you're meeting up with a group, or simply if you want a table to get some work done.
The restaurant is typically clean, even though it is quite busy. They also have options to order via self-service screens which is useful.
The food and drinks here do seem to take a little longer to make — usually because there are so many customers and only a few people on staff. But the positives of the space here out weight the negative for sure.

I recently visited The Halal Guys with my friends Jot and Balrak, and overall it was a great experience. The food was fresh, flavorful, and lived up to the hype. The chicken and gyro platter was perfectly cooked, and the white sauce really made everything taste even better.
Jot especially liked the portion size—it’s definitely filling and worth the price. Balrak mentioned that the spice level was just right, not too overwhelming but still had a nice kick.
The service was quick, and the staff were friendly, even during a busy time. The place itself was clean, though seating can get a bit tight when it’s crowded.
Overall, it’s a solid spot if you’re craving halal street-style food. I’d definitely go back again with Jot and Balrak!

Tried the chicken platter at Halal guys and honestly it was so satisfying. The chicken was super juicy and well seasoned, and the portion size was really good for the price. The rice was fresh and fluffy, and their sauces just took everything to the next level. Perfect comfort meal if you’re craving something filling and flavorful. Definitely going back again!

I remembered seeing this spot in New York 10+ years ago from videos, and I was so excited to finally try it here. Honestly, the food didn't live up to the hype. The shawarma was below average. The chicken barely had any flavour, almost like it wasn't seasoned at all. And the "pita wrap" wasn't really a pita; it was like the packaged naan you'd grab from Walmart. For the price and the reputation, I expected way better.
Mohamed Shimran - 5 months ago
The food here was okay honestly. A bit overpriced and nothing like the food they give in New York itself.
The portions were okay, not too much, and the taste was mediocre overall. I wouldn’t come back again personally, but you should still give it a shot. It’s not bad.

My son brought me here for my first poke bowl. I am impressed. The service was great and the staff helpful. There was a minor issue (forgotten cucumbers and included edamame) with one bowl but the staff quickly recreated the bowl. The bowl was blocked with fresh food and my shrimp and crab was very tasty. The price was slightly high, but to get quality food and seafood, I am wiling to pay. The place was clean and bright and nicely decorated. Excellent job folks!

Got the regular size and it was perfect for me. Generous amount of protein and greens while the purple rice was just the right amount since I’ve been trying to eat less carbs. Everything tasted really fresh and balanced together well. Also, they have some tables if you want to eat there.

I’ve ordered Hoki Poki bowls on UE when visiting my family in Toronto a handful of times and they never disappoint!! Big fan of the torched tuna & salmon as well as adding seaweed salad & avocado as toppings. The bill gets a bit pricey with the add-ons but it’s so worth it - delicious and seems like you’re eating a treat (but in reality the ingredients are so healthy & fresh!)

I don’t really leave bad reviews but this one really affected me… don’t think their salmon is fresh because unfortunately I my stomach was hurting after eating it, even with painkillers it didn’t go away. Later I started feeling dizzy, vomiting, and having diarrhea. I had to call someone to cover my shift for me at my job. But I guess the service was great?
