Coming from out of town, we randomly came across this pub and decided to get a late lunch/early dinner.
Service was great, the waitress was very attentive and friendly.
We asked for non alcohol drinks. Ran out of Ice Tea. OK, this happens.
The food was not very good, tasteless meatballs (frozen perhaps microwaved).
Chicken tenders were ok, but again frozen and no wow. Sauce tasted off. So, I asked for extra ketchup. 2 small packets were brought, and we were told there wasn't any more as the restaurant ran out. (How does a restaurant run out of Ketchup? Especially with a grocery store at the corner or a dollar store across the street)
I think we expected more from the kitchen.

So we showed up with no reso with a work group of like 9 people. (Weekday at 6pm) There was only one server and service took a very long time. This isn't the server's fault, she was the only one doing anything on the floor. I blame management for not staffing this location properly. She told us that there's a theater across the road and groups come in frequently and have to get out on time for shows. She did her best but one person at our table didn't even get their food order, just completely forgotten. It's too bad because with proper staffing this place could maybe pull off decent casual dining but I wouldn't recommend anyone go here.

Had an amazing time at this bar with my sister and some friends! We came down to play some pool and were really impressed with how clean and welcoming the place was. The atmosphere was great, and the staff was super friendly—especially our bartender, Ruburto. He was so nice and pleasant to be around, and we had some really good conversations with him.
The food was also a highlight! We ordered nachos, and they were made with fresh ingredients—absolutely delicious. The drinks were fantastic too! I ordered a Blue Hawaiian, and it was the best one I’ve had in a while.
Overall, this place has a great vibe, good people, and is very friendly toward queer folks, which made the experience even better. I’d definitely recommend coming here for a fun night of drinks, good food, and great conversation!

Cute bar and the bartender was running the bar and our server. Service seemed to be a bit slow but it wasn’t overly busy so I can see why they probably only had 1 cook and 1 person running customer service.
Regardless the bartender was nice and friendly. They had interesting flavours for wings but I found it wasn’t as amazing as I had expected. The large nachos were good and the jalapeños were fresh. The only thing is I felt it could’ve used a bit more lettuce but there was more than enough beef.

Omfg I've been to this place many times for super fun times karaoke but I've never eaten there. Big mistake lol! I had the poutine and I can't even describe the joy! No notes it was perfection! 👌

The Groove Bar and Grill is a gem in Toronto. From the food to the atmosphere, it is always a pleasure to experience it especially on open mic nights, how I discovered it. It is the oldest open mic in Canada. The wall of champions is a must see and the Mediterranean nachos an absolute must try. Robert and his family are a delight to deal with! It is one of Toronto must visit spot, a sports bar that make your tastebuds travel a lot. Thanks guys 👌🦾

The wings are 6 stars. Get the buffalo. They make a bunch of sauces in house. The Korean BBQ was super lit too. It's got fish sauce and everything. These guys aren't joking around about the wings. Family run, clean, plenty of TVs for sports if that's your jam.

The best samosas I have ever had. We had the pleasure of having them at my moms birthday. They were a hit! So much variety! Everyone asked where they were from and didn’t stop raving about them all night. Service was amazing too! You won’t be disappointed!
Monita - 2 weeks ago
So i purchased the sunrise & tandoori samosas, also a spanakopita & chicken Jamaican patty along with their cilantro chutney.
The tandoori samosa was the only good one out of the baked list. The chutney definitely is the saviour. I was very excited but very disappointed expected a lot more flavour due to being "the best in toronto"
The sunrise samosas goes no where close to the original potato samosa, it didn't even have the salt the original veggie samosa has. The worse is to spend money on disappointing food. I wouldn't recommend but the colours are cute.

An amazing business with a fantastic product! I hosted a Mehndi party and had three types of catered food to be delivered. The party day was a HUGE snowstorm. Two caterers cancelled but the third: the Samosarie came through! The samosa were delicious, the pastry is delicate and the colours are so much fun! They provide a guide and each colour represents a flavour or taste. Great way to allow for different diets to participate: omnivore, vegan, dairy free all had options! And the most wonderful thing was they were so filling and the amounts generous that we didn't need the other caterers anyways! Thank you so much Ash and Team for helping to make this Mehndi memorable!

What a fun place! So many different flavors to choose from and they were all really tasty, hard to pick a favorite as I enjoyed them all. And for someone who can't handle spicy food, I really appreciate that most of the flavors were non-spicy. These are a great size for snacking and would be great to bring to a potluck or picnic. I'll definitely be back and am looking forward to trying their chutney!

Ethiopian restaurant with live jazz. Simple venue, fantastic food, house wine is great, and the hospitality is awesome. Went on a night that featured the Moment's Notice Quartet. Loved it. This is the place for slow food and good music.

Hirut is a fantastic, welcoming place with superb live jazz music and great acoustics in an intimate setting. I recently went to hear the fabulous Vancouver Trio, with Amanda Tossoff, piano; Morgan Childs, drums; and the ever steady, ever ready, ever adventurous bassist, Brendan Davis.
I cannot wait to return for dinner, and more live jazz.
Just steps from the subway station, it’s easy to get to via TTC, there’s street parking for drivers, and the many shops along east Danforth are very interesting.
Wherever you come from in Metro Toronto or GTA, make it a stop on you journeys about town!

Very quaint little place. Food was excellent. Prices are very reasonable. Saw a jazz quintet there. Great night out for dinner and some live music.

It was great to be out for some live music and a drink or two but the food....a simple plate in itself but sooooooon amazing! The flavours and the spice coupled with the traditional style of eating, really so very good. I wish i had taken photos but they wouldn't do it justice you just have to try it!
UPDATE: I have now added some photos from a second visit, this time family style.

Great jazz in a friendly small venue. Dinner delicious and quite affordable. Nice listening-room vibe with audience respectful of the band. Good TTC access. Cash preferred for band cover charge.

I didn't know pizza could be this disappointing. The pizza was soggy and when I picked up a piece, the toppings just fell off. No flavour.
The lady at the counter was very kind.
I won't be going back.

I had some pizza. The pizza is not tasty. Quite soggy.
The staff is excellent.
Update: my girlfriend eats Pizza Nova from this location, and the "white pizza." is her favourite. Gets it from here once a week. Today we ordered a large and it didn't have enough herb oil base, and the crust was not as requested. She was very disappointed. I offered to return it, but she was scared they would get mad. I'm im just leaving a review for her.
Update x2: they got the pizza right. But too many flies in the restaurant.

Great pizza place in our neighborhood. Always much much better option than pizza pizza down the street. Great folks who work here as well, always involved in our school events. Vegan cheese offering is pretty decent too. Highly recommend for quick, easy, simple but yummy pizza for the family!

I ordered the chicken pad thai and spring rolls. The spring rolls were ok. They had a good crunch and a nice sour note, but left an odd aftertaste. Overall, the chicken pad thai was not good. It had some good pieces of chicken, but the flavouring was not good and the dish was a bit soupy. I asked for hot spice and it almost had a hot buffalo sauce taste to it, so it had me wondering if that's how they added the heat, but I'm not sure. Honestly, I'd rather pay the extra few bucks and get better Thai food elsewhere. The food here left me full, but unsatisfied. Disappointing.
The service was very quick and the woman who took my order was kind. I think I only waited 8 minutes to get my food, so they were quick.

First time , small place . Very friendly and helpful staff. Tried the Thai Room special chicken and shrimp pad see ew . It was fast and very well cooked. Nice taste not too spicy . The vegetables were cooked well, the shrimp was the star of the dish . Also had the vegetable spring roll , it was fried perfectly and cooked evenly . No oily or cold spots in roll, their dipping sauce was perfect . Definitely recommend this place , portions are a good size . I will definitely go back .

Location is convenient for us Walking distance from Main and Danforth. We had the Mango Chicken and the Signature Pad Thai with chicken and shrimp. There was a good number of shrimp in our order. Food was hot and freshly cooked. We ate at the restaurant, service was good and friendly.

We have been ordering take out from Thai Room Danforth for 10+ years and are continually amazed at the consistency of the food. Everything is good but our favs are Mango Salad, Red curry, crispy beef, signature pad thai and pineapple fried rice. We order direct from the website and delivery is usually about 20 minutes. Just really good food.

Double Dip On Tipping
I recently ordered take out for lunch (Food and service were good as per usual). The online ordering system did not allow us to complete the order without selecting a minimum 10% tip for Pickup, even though we were paying when we picked up the food.
When my partner picked it up, they were asked again for a tip, even though we had already tipped.I do supporting tipping as a practice for food pickup and deliver, but I feel like this was a bit offside.
To the REsto resonse:
The option to NOT enter a tip online is not very clear. It presents as the minimum tip is 10%, especially given that the tip amount displays the tip value based on the percentage box that you choose. I would reccomend adding a not tip box so that people can choose that.

Great portions at great prices. Really good fried chicken wings that came with the take out order after hitting the minimum. Everything was very tasty except the sweet and sour pork. It's my favorite dish, but it was very disappointing. Tasted like orange chicken which was weird, would not recommend this dish.
Would recommend and come back to try other dishes.

Wanted to taste some yummy Chinese food from one of the local businesses and Google recommended them. Seeing 4.3 avg. rating encouraged us to try it out. No complaints about service, it was warm and friendly. However, the food was not. It's true that they give you a huge amount to fill your belly but if your tongue couldn't taste anything, what's the point of filling your belly?
Mongolian Chicken with steamed rice had more cabbage to cover the whole thing (see picture). Even if that was tasty, I wouldn't complain. It was dripping with sauce and no taste.
Sweet and Sour Pork usually is a safe bet, with chicken fried rice, it looked good but tasted nothing. The pork was full with sauce, and fried rice was hard as hell.
Overall, not a good experience. Having less faith in these Google ratings lately. I guess most 5-star people went there to fill their belly with cheap offers rather than taste something good at a reasonable price.
No hard feelings to the owners, they were good, just not the food we paid for.

Located at 2093 Danforth Ave, Toronto, ON M4C 1K1, just a short 2-4 minute walk from Woodbine subway station, Sandy's Restaurant is a Chinese culinary gem that promises a delightful dining experience. The Chinese staff members are not only warm and friendly, but also demonstrate exceptional care and attention when preparing the food.
One of the standout qualities of Sandy's Restaurant is its affordable prices, despite a recent increase. You can still enjoy a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.
For those dining solo, I highly recommend trying their special combo options, specifically the Fish and Tofu with Steamed Rice (item 121), the Eggplant and Tofu with Steamed Rice (item 123) and Sliced Beef and Mixed Vegetables with Steamed Rice (item 102). These flavourful dishes are personal favourites and provide generous portions that will surely satisfy your hunger. They are the perfect choices for a single person looking for a complete and fulfilling meal.
When it comes to soups, I recommend opting for the Wonton Soup. While I personally didn't enjoy the Egg Drop Mushroom Soup as much, the Wonton Soup is a true winner, offering a delightful blend of flavours that will warm your soul.
Lastly, I can't recommend enough the Broad Ho-Fan with Beef in Seasonal Soya Sauce. This dish, as showcased in the picture accompanying this review, is a mouthwatering delight that's perfect for sharing among two people. The flavours of the beef, wide rice noodles, and the seasonal soya sauce come together harmoniously, creating a satisfying and memorable culinary experience.
Overall, Sandy's Restaurant is a hidden gem on Danforth Avenue. With its friendly staff, affordable prices, and delectable dishes, it promises a culinary adventure worth exploring. Don't miss out on the special combo options, the flavourful Wonton Soup, and the indulgent Broad Ho-Fan with Beef in Seasonal Soya Sauce. Visit Sandy's Restaurant for a delightful Chinese dining experience that will leave you craving more.

Breakfast is awesome.
Pricing reasonable
Portions are plentiful
Service is like eating at you aunts home and you feel welcome and appreciated
It’s, rye bread is not typical it’s a dark rye, so if you order rye and toasted and it looks charred it’s not and it’s crazy delicious.
Omelettes are superb as are the accoutrements.
Coffee is brewed as is the decaf and they will make you an iced coffee as well.
Thank you for the excellent breakfast and the super clean and cost environment.

This is. Without a doubt. Some of the best wings I've ever had. The wing flavors were all so delicious and actually spicy!!! And they have plenty to choose from. The fry flavors are all absolutely delicious and everything was reasonably priced. The owner was very friendly and super helpful and made this just an all around welcoming experience to Toronto! If you're in Toronto you MUST GO to this place! Thanks for making this a memorable trip and a memorable New Years Eve!

Very good wings ! Don't @me for this next statement, but gives Duff's a run for their money for a lot less cash !
Unbreaded wings are amazing, lemon pepper is on point ! Ordered multiple times and the portions are great and the folks that work their are super friendly!
If you have been disappointed by places that you order 1lbs of wings that are weirdly oversized and you only get 5 wings then make the switch to these guys. Wings that are normal sized, delicious, well cooked and aren't greasy (or taste like they were boiled and fast fried)
Great food, great job ! Try them out
Robert McLaughlin - 2 years ago
I have to say I really like the wings. They are fresh and always taste good. I've eaten here a handful of times in the last 6 months. My reason for the lower rating is they are always, without fail, late. Each time I order online I set a time for pick up, and it has never been within 20 minutes of that time frame. I wait for my order in store and I can see it's not busy, there aren't people coming in and out. So it's not for the fact that they are over capacity. Sometimes they say they "didn't get my order until recently" but I get order confirmation right after I pay online so I find that hard to believe too.
Again I really like their food, but each time I remember why I don't order here as often. I will gladly change my rating if I start experiencing better service.
David Ly - 2 years ago
Ordered via their online portal, and when we went to pick it up the store wasn't even opened. Tired calling an no pick up. Just looked at my credit card bill now and they still charged my order. Disappointing, as I've had good wings here before.
Update: the new rating is based on how helpful they have been in getting me my refund back. Also I know they do make good wings. My only feedback is they need to pay more attention to their online platform so this never happens again. Also to make it clear that if something doesn't go right for their online ordering they should out reach to Doordash. It's no very clear right now and the number they have posted on their site and confirmation email doesn't really go anywhere.

Ordered takeout on a Friday evening. Order was completed quickly, portions for wings were good but portions for the fries were even better! Sauce and coating on the wings was well done, however, the meat itself was quite dry. Might have been just the batch that day.
Edit: forgot to add that the staff was very friendly!

Amazing food and absolutely a gem. Some of the best sushi I have ever enjoyed. Nice menu and I have to say creative and reasonably priced. Freshly made and option to order take out . Variety of rolls and sashimi and some unique items you don't find on a lot of sushi menus. The dragon rolls are amazing and sushi pizza is worth a try. Gyoko Sushi is a small, cozy place that we absolutely love for its proximity and fantastic service. Recently, we made a reservation for 10 people to celebrate my LA cousin's last day in town, and it did not disappoint.
The service was excellent, as always. The staff was attentive and ensured our large group was well taken care of. The food was spot on, just like every other time we've visited. The sushi was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented.
Gyoko Sushi continues to be a favorite for us, and this visit reinforced why we keep coming back. If you’re looking for great sushi with excellent service in a cozy setting, I highly recommend Gyoko Sushi.
