This is the nicest hotel we’ve stayed at in Montreal. The staff are super attentive and well trained in every position. The restaurant is worth going to whether you’re staying at the hotel or not. Outstanding food and great selection of wines.

Had the most magical stay at this hidden gem of a luxury boutique Hotel, in early May. I was celebrating a friend's special occasion while in town Juliette & Isabella made my stay truly spectacular and magnificently went above and beyond for my dear friend and I.
From the upgraded presidential suite to all the beautiful touches Juliette (the weekend concierge) added; everything was perfect! The suite itself is jaw-dropping, and has everything one could ever wish for in a premium suite — from the huge walkout terrace on a high floor with stunning city and valley views; a full butler kitchen, to the chic yet comfortable seating; to the spa-like bathroom and the oh-so-comfy bedding. It was spacious, luxe yet extremely comfortable.
What made this hotel stand out, was the extraordinary customer service and attention to detail. The staff were all attentive yet not overbearing. Isabella & Juliette were the true stars of this stay...so attentive, caring, and compassionate. They both moved my friends and I close to tears, because of how much thought and care they put into my very short stay. It was a very special occasion, still they took everything to heart and did everything possible making our stay as close to perfect as it gets.
I also loved the location, it was peaceful...tucked away from the busyness of the downtown core, yet steps away from parks and anything one could ever want.
The front desk team were pleasant enough, although disappointingly nor as friendly/attentive the next day, with in-room breakfast issues..there definitely was some attitude displayed from the regular front desk personnel the day of check-out? Fortunately this didn't affect my friend or myself, yet it was a bit disappointing and odd. Isabella obviously being the exception, the day before, as she was not in-person day of check-out.
Only wished that my stay had been longer, and that Juliette was more available through the weekend etc! Roberto, the hotel's main concierge was also very nice and fun to speak about many different travel topics!
Still, staying here was the best hotel experience I have had in many years, definitely as good as a five-star stay one could get. I'd also say far better than the Four Seasons and Ritz-Carlton (both overrated and excessively expensive). Best Le Germain experience by far, as I've been to most of them. A true Forbes five-star/five-diamond boutique hotel experience, like one would get in NYC or Europe.

This hotel is in a good location downtown within walking distance to many busy nightlife areas.
This was our second time staying at this hotel and I expect we will return. For parking I typically leave the vehicle with valet and then take taxis or walk.
You can try craft cocktails at their bar, tho admittedly I have yet to try the restaurant.
Rooms are designed and finished nicely at a reasonable price.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

I stayed at this hotel for a business trip to research fashion and travel for Montreal.
While searching where to stay the image of that swing in room screamed “I must stay there”
The location is perfect to explore the downtown area. Intimate but large enough to have all your needs met. A surprise was the cool wallpaper in the bathroom. We all need something to read!
I’d stay again in a heart beat and yes loved the swing!

I wasn’t prepared coming into this hotel with sweatpants and a hoodie. Regardless, the staff treated me with exceptional customer service. The rooms were very chic and clean, reflecting the overall atmosphere of the hotel. Would definitely come back if I’m ever in the city again. Highly recommend using the robe.

The pizza was so good that I forgot to take a picture!
Overall, this is a really good pizza with an overwhelming amount of options and good dough. It could be crustier and have better cheese.
However, some of the staff members were not nice at all and had no patience. The atmosphere was also dark in a sad way, and the space was a bit cramped. The desserts they had were all frozen, and I was told they would need to defrost them, which could take 2 hours, so that was unfortunate.
But I recommend! Tastes good! The long line is worth the wait.
Gravityfinal - 2 weeks ago
Maybe I came at an “off moment”, maybe it’s just a matter of taste, but this pizza was so lackluster for the price and I left confused by the overwhelming amount of positive reviews this place has.
I’m surprised not a single reviewer has mentioned the tomato sauce here, either as a positive or a negative. Because that was my biggest issue. The crust was amazing. Classic thin crust Italian baked in a super hot oven. Exactly what I want. But the sauce was like battery acid. Just pure acid and salt and zero sweetness, no fresh tomato taste. Tasted like it was poured out of a store brand jar. The cheese was also cooked pretty dark and pulled off in large chunks which was disappointing.
Great service. Nice views of the square. But overall I wouldn’t subject myself to a pizza this pricey and this mediocre again.
I would expect this quality if I was ordering late n

This spot seriously delivered some of the best thin-crust pizza I’ve ever had! The crust was perfectly crisp with just the right amount of char, and the toppings were fresh and flavorful. We tried a variety—one with pineapple and blue cheese that was unexpectedly amazing, and another loaded with sausage, pepperoni, and green peppers that was packed with flavor. The Caesar salads were also generous and creamy—definitely a solid starter.
Service was excellent—super friendly and attentive. The only downside? It was surprisingly crowded for a Tuesday lunch. That said, it’s clearly popular for a reason. Would absolutely come back!

There are a lot of options here for pizza lovers! The best ones are marked by *. For the first time I’d recommend to go with the * ones. You’ll be given French menus but if you ask, they’ll provide English Menus.
I didn’t like the vegetable based pizza we got the second time we went there.

Update: I came back on April for my birthday. Wow the staff was amazing. Even the restaurant was already closed, they still treated me with respect and kindness. They even gave me some birthday dessert. I had to come back again with some friends. And they LOVED the place, especially the pizza hahaha. Thank you for an amazing experience. See you next time I’m in Montreal.

I really enjoyed this pub! We went on a Friday night while we were waiting for our show nearby. The old-school vibes were right on point. We got a few pints and a few shots. Along with some apps. All was great, and the price wasn't pricey. The place is also quite big. I'm willing to bet this place pops off during Saint-Patrick's Day, no doubt. All to say, keep it up; I'll pop by during Saint-P's day.

I have not had a chance to sample the food. I have been too busy trying the many beers they have on tap! The wait staff is friendly and courteous. They will make drink recommendations when asked. It usually has a fun, Irish Pub kind of feel as the night wears on.
Dave Boyer - 4 months ago
We sat at the bar for dinner. The fact that it wasn’t busy on a Saturday night should have told us something. After a couple beers, we ordered chicken fingers with onion rings and fish and chips.
Both were large portions and the quality was good but not great. It irritated us that we were charged $.75 for an extra tartar sauce.
Our bartender Tara was personable and efficient. But we wish we had waited in line for our first choice.
Todd P - 10 months ago
I would give 10 stars for service if I could. Man oh man the bartender/server Chris was so good I thought he owned the place. I’m a company owner and if I knew I had an employee this good I would be giving him shares in my company. We watched him impress every guest that came in here. We had some calamari that was great. But the only thing I can talk about is Chris and his charismatic personality. His beer recommendations were absolutely perfect.

3 Brasseurs in downtown Montreal is a solid spot if you’re looking for a good patio experience, especially at night. Located in a lively part of the city, the atmosphere is vibrant and welcoming, making it a great place to hang out with friends or unwind after a long day. We went in the evening, and the vibe was just right — relaxed but buzzing with energy from the surrounding streets and other guests.
The patio was definitely the highlight. Sitting outside with the city lights around made the experience feel more special. It’s a perfect setting for casual conversations, people-watching, or just enjoying a night out in Montreal. The lighting, music, and overall layout created a chill yet social environment.
The staff were friendly and the service was smooth, which added to the overall enjoyment of the night. While we didn’t try a wide variety of dishes, the drinks were solid and complemented the vibe well — after all, 3 Brasseurs is known for its in-house brews.
Overall, if you’re in downtown Montreal and looking for a good patio spot with a fun, relaxed atmosphere, 3 Brasseurs is definitely worth checking out. It’s a great place to spend a night out.

Loved everything about this pub. The restaurant style, our server, the menu. It had a great selection of pub food, drinks and even mocktails. I had the Mai Tai Mocktail and it was delicious. We all had the burgers and fries and all got rave reviews. The fries were perfect. Would definitely go again.

I tried the $10 college menu at 3 Brasseurs and ordered the quesadilla. The portion wasn’t very generous, but it was well enough for an average eater. The quesadilla was tasty and cooked well. The place seemed understaffed, so the service was slow. The staff didn’t seem very friendly at first and looked overwhelmed. It was only toward the end, when the server noticed my timer, that she became a bit nicer. Overall, the food was REALLY GOOD for the price, but the service definitely needs improvement. Drinks were bomb.

From an Espresso Martini tailored to my preference, to an excellent beer and cheddar soup followed by a great special occasion burger (the Zamboni burger!), my experience at 3 Brasseurs was splendid! I was seated at the bar and Sabrina and Emmanuel made me feel very welcome and special. I will definitely be coming back!!

Restaurant Sho-dan (2020 Metcalfe St, Montreal, Quebec H3A 3C8) is a place where gastronomic pleasure is perfectly combined with impeccable service. ✨
From the very first minute you find yourself in an atmosphere of hospitality and attention. 😊 Each employee of the restaurant, from the hostess to the waiters, strives to make your stay here as comfortable as possible. 👍 The service is truly top notch, as in the best restaurants in Montreal.
Sho-dan has a special atmosphere that располагает to a pleasant pastime. ✨ The open kitchen allows you to watch the cooking process, which adds a special interest. 👨🍳 Cleanliness and order are another plus of this establishment.
Japanese cuisine at Sho-dan is a real art! 🍣 All dishes are prepared from the freshest ingredients and have an exquisite taste. 😋 And the bar offers a wide selection of interesting drinks that perfectly complement your dinner. 🍹
Restaurant Sho-dan is a great place for a romantic date, meeting friends or a family dinner. 👨👩👧👦 Highly recommend!

Once inside Sho-Dan, I found myself underwhelmed by the overall atmosphere. The décor lacks character, with plain white tablecloths and a lack of any distinctive features. Instead of exuding a sushi restaurant ambiance, it feels more like an upscale Italian establishment catering to an older demographic. Unfortunately, my initial impression fell short of excitement.
However, my disappointment took a turn when we decided to sample a variety of items from the menu. The sushi exceeded expectations, boasting a delightful freshness and appealing presentation. Accompanied by flavorful sauces, the culinary experience was elevated. The house drinks were also noteworthy, adding a positive note to our dining experience.
While the staff exhibited kindness, there was a slight lack of enthusiasm, though the service remained decent. In conclusion, it's a venue worth considering if you're seeking exceptionally good sushi. The culinary delights outweigh the lackluster ambiance, making it a destination for sushi enthusiasts.

Perfect for a first date in my opinion if he or she loves sushi, cause I loved it 5 years ago when my now husband brought me there ;) and it's always nice to go back now.
The quality is still fantastic and the people are nice.
I recommend !!! For sure getting back soon :))

First time in shodan for lunch. We have ordered the sushi plate for 2 and added a sushi pizza.
I believe if we will be just full only have sushi plate for 2.adding pizza we r too full.
The fish are so fresh!
However I find the rice is abit too soft and doesn't taste enough vinegar. Thus 4/5 for the food.
Service is good, atmosphere is good.
Will come back and try the dinner menue, heard the specialty rolls are good too.
Sushi pizza is covered by smoked salmon. Find the rice is not crispy enough or maybe too thin to taste the crispness.

Great experience, thanks to our server for all the recommendations and hospitality. Definitely one of our top 3 meals in Montreal, smoked meat sandwich was the best out of the 3 or 4 places we tried and what a value. It's like eating a thinly sliced perfectly cooked prime rib as the beef flavour and fattiness is perfection. At $29 incl. Fries, coleslaw, and a pickle the price is super fair for the location and comfortable seating. The service was top notch, attentive, and accommodating. Also tried their cheesecake which is very good as well.

This is the original Reuben's located in the basement on St Catherine's Street. The other location at ground level isn't as good so make sure you try this one.
We have been coming here for many years and the smoked meat is always really good and one of the best. We love the atmosphere and service is always top notch.
We had the smoked meat poutine and smoked meat spaghetti. Both were delicious and portions were really good. Prices have gone up though but I still think it's worth it. Don't miss the cheesecake for dessert it's one of the best. Looking forward to our next trip to Montreal to come back again!

Came for the F1 weekend with my fiancé and his brother! I'm a real smoked meat lover and you can taste how fresh the meat is compared to the smoked meat places on the southshore. The hostess and the man at the front (seems like a manager) were very hospitable and very kind. Our server was very nice too. I had the classic smoked meat sandwich, my boyfriend had the F1 burger and his brother had the chicken burger. If you haven't tried this place already, please do! And make sure you try a cheesecake before you go 😉

I hadn’t been to Reuben’s in a couple of years, but while strolling through downtown one evening, I decided to give it another go and grab some takeout.
The restaurant itself is quite nice—welcoming decor, friendly staff, and an overall inviting vibe. Having been a loyal customer in the past, I expected more of the same quality that Reuben’s was once known for. Unfortunately, this visit will likely be my last.
I ordered the Super Royal, advertised as a giant smoked meat sandwich served with fries, coleslaw, and a pickle for $26 plus tax. However, when I received my takeout bag, it became immediately clear that there was nothing “giant” about the meal.
I’ve included a single photo of my $26+tax meal to let you decide whether you think it’s worth the price. While the sandwich was undeniably tasty, the portion was so small that I was still hungry after finishing it. In fact, I ended up heading elsewhere to grab a burger just to feel satisfied.
In a city like Montreal, filled with incredible restaurants and delis, it’s hard to justify settling for such a meager offering. Delicious? Sure. Worth $26? Absolutely not.
Reuben’s might be resting on its reputation, but when there are countless better options around, I know I won’t be back.
Brandan Johnston - 6 months ago
If you’re looking for a place to get your pastrami and poutine fix in Montreal, come to Reuben’s. I could personally take down two orders of the poutine with pastrami. Also make sure to stretch your jaw if you’re planning to take down one of these pastrami sandwiches, you have been warned!

I am sad that this location will be closing soon. 10 years ago, not long after the restaurant first opened its doors, a girl took me out to lunch at this place.
Since then, we have come back to this restaurant every year. We are now married and have two kids.
Today, we went back for lunch, once last time, to say farewell to this wonderful restaurant.
The menu is always fresh and every details is well thought of. The service is perfect and I recall having some great conversations with one of their sommelier.
If you love great food, are looking for a culinary experience and have a chance to try this place before it closes, go for it! Otherwise make the trip to its Quebec city location, you will not regret it.

This restaurant was okay. Service was good but at the beginning we felt like we were being sold a time-share (they sit you down, want you to have a drink, then they give you a treat, and after that they come out with leather folders and show you the options) it was way too staged and it didn’t seem authentic, especially after you first walk in the door. Once they’re done selling you each menu and the wine pairings, they give you another treat and they show you to your table.
The service aside from that stated experience was good. The waiters were very attentive and catered to our every need. How ever, it must be noted that the waiter spilled water all over the table when we first sat down. We had to do some drying ourselves. He also dropped the bread when it first came out. It seemed like he was a little nervous or perhaps his over-confidence backfired. Service was also a little aggressive when pushing the chairs to let us sit.
I’m terms of the food, it was okay. We enjoyed 3/7 dishes. Some creations were too far-fetched. The flavours were perhaps masked by some other things (goat cheese ice cream, lamb, and scallops), and in some cases it was way too fatty (as was the case with the duck). Hot crab was good, cold crab was good, sea bass was good.
What we didn’t like was that they changed items in the menu without changing he actual menus, and made it seem like too improvised.
The ambiance was amazing. The restaurant looks super sleek, very clean, modern and elegant. Probably the best part. Except for pre-staging, which again felt like you’re being sold a time-share...
Overall, an okay choice. If you’re going, make sure you ask for a waiter that speaks good English, otherwise you’ll have a hard time understanding what the dishes are about, or the wine, or just general chit-chat. Not the most anglophone staff.

Amazing experience. Strongly recommend!
The environment is fantastic and cozy. The lights and objects that compose the restaurant are great. Located in a hotel downtown.
Services are excellent and all recommended dishes were perfect and beautiful.
It's not cheap though, but worth it.
Good for romantic dinner or especial occasions.

Had such a blast on the Valentine's jazz night.
It's pretty sad to have to rate four stars instead of five for some of small things during it.
First of all, the food, the staff, the band, the singer, the wine, atmosphere, location, everything I mentioned above is beyond AMAZING! No complaints on those at all.
Sadly I didn't quite enjoy the cocktails so much, we ordered two different cocktails and neither of them can step up with our high expectations, with the price and all the good things I mentioned above.
For sure this place is perfect for special occasions, as it's a fancy place to dine, behind and inside of an old church. That part I think it's brilliant!
The toilets are quite limited as it's inside the old church but it was not packed at all so I don't find this a negative thing.
In summary, best fancy place for live music, food, wine selections not so much for cocktails (in my opinion) OR maybe if you try different cocktails it would have been better. Still recommended!

I had the absolute pleasure of attending Brunch Gospel with Michelle Sweeney and the Gospel Tribe at the Balcon on the 28th, and it was an unforgettable experience! The food was really good but the highlight for me was the music. Michelle Sweeney and the Gospel Tribe delivered performances that were nothing short of electrifying. It was a good way to enjoy great food while being uplifted by incredible live gospel music.

Le Balcon is a staple in Montreal experiences! Located in an old cathedral, this theater always makes for an incredible time!
There’s room to dance if you’d like- most people do! The main floor is tables/chairs set up cabaret style. The balcony is church pews with a thin piece of fabric as your seat cushion. You’ll be up dancing anyways, so don’t get too comfy! Balcony is also “sit wherever” so feel free to move around… but make sure you close out with your server! If you can find them! Once the show starts, I really didn’t see anyone to grab me another drink:(
It’s a very intimate venue- there are no bad seats! Very picturesque too!
The entrance is on the side street!
There’s a coat check for $3CAD and yes they take cards! Beware- there’s a long line aftee to get your coat!
The bathrooms are pitiful! Located up a bunch of stairs and then there’s only 2 teeny stalls! For a venue, we need more please!

Not a high-end restaurant by any means. It's meant for a quick snack while doing errands or on the way home.

Never came here cuz I thought they only have pizza, but their poutine gave me a pleasant surprise today. Slightly salty but more importantly cheesy and savoury. Portion is so large, I’ll be eating my size medium for 2-3 meals. Staff have a straight face but are nice and kind. Only downside is it’s a bit too hot in the metro station in summer to eat there.

Great food, been coming here since I was in high school. My personal fave is always the poutine!
