L'Avenue is the brunch spot if you're looking for a mix of bold flavors, huge portions, and a funky, vibrant atmosphere. The decor is edgy and artsy, and the vibe is always lively—perfect for a weekend indulgence. The menu is stacked with creative takes on classic brunch dishes, and the portions are no joke—you won’t leave hungry. The fresh juices and coffee are also top-notch.

Breakfast and Brunch heavy weight in Montrael that deserves the hype. Plan ahead and consider coming at off peak hours because there is going to be a crowd at almost any hour. Service really is great, servers are pros. The indecisive menu hits on all cylinders but make sure you are hungry portions are huge. The Benedict's are amazing recommend the Pink Salmon Benny. Drinks menu is eclectic as the food menu. Recommend the Nutella coffee a lot less sweet than I expected which was great for me. If your looking for a solo disco party the bathrooms here got you
Chris J - 2 weeks ago
The only downside is waiting outside for 45 mins and portions weren’t that big, but the food was amazing! The menu is very impressive and the variety is nice. The disco bathroom was definitely the highlight. Even tho they were super busy the staff was very kind

Great brunch if a little on the pricey side. I hade the “indecisive” with sticky toffee pudding pancakes and they were incredible. I’m a huge fan of their indecisive options, because they combine traditional breakfast (eggs, sausage, bread) with a sweet option. Great sweat and savoury brunch! Others ordered the tiramisu French toast and eggs Benedict which were solid.
The ambiance is a little odd and a little intense for brunch but nothing that impacts the meals. The bathrooms are weird with lots of flashing disco lights. I thought they were fun but I can see people finding them stressful.

What a fun place!
The menu is very creative. The team is so nice and stylish! Everyone seems to fit the style of this very neat diner.
The food was great! I had the California Omelette and the stacked pancakes with Nutella and Strawberries! Lots and lots of food but had to try both as they looked really good…and delicious they were for sure!
The location is great.
The neighborhood is live and bustling!
I Will definitely come back. Kudos to the team and the owners of this place!
The bathrooms are super fun actually! Disco themed…

Tried Kahwa Café after a friend recommended it, and it’s definitely worth the hype.
The bread is made fresh right in front of you, super fresh and flavorful. I went for the Panko chicken sandwich, and it was spot on: crispy coating, really well done. The fries were delicious and i very liked the sauce.
Chill vibe, solid prices, and the place was packed, always a good sign. I’ll definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

Top 3 sandwich places in montreal. They make the bread fresh on the spot. It's always busy especially in the summer. The chicken and lamb are the best sandwiches, if it's your first time go with the chicken. Also they only accept debit or cash.
Venu B - a week ago
Kahwa is a must-visit for fresh, delicious food at great value. With two locations on Rue Rachel and Mont Royal, it consistently delivers quality. The standout is their panko chicken sandwich—crispy, juicy, and served on bread made fresh after ordering. Everything is super fresh, and the pricing is very reasonable, offering more than expected. My only minor criticism is about their fries; they could improve by using freshly cut potatoes or a different brand. Despite that, Kahwa is highly recommended!

If you love sandwiches and/or north African food, this place is definitely for you. Amazing sandwiches with fresh bread straight out of the oven (literally baked in front of you) and delicious ingredients, tried the chicken and the merguez, and I have to say the merguez one was one of the best sandwiches I had in a longue time! Also the staff is very helpful and the place very cozy.

I was starving after my nail appointment, so on my way out, I asked my nail tech if there was anywhere nearby that was good to eat. Without missing a beat, she said, “You have to try the fried chicken sandwich at Kahwa Café.” As someone who’s always chasing great food recs, I took her advice and headed straight there—and wow, she did not steer me wrong.

In depth review:
The Vibe
Kahwa is a cozy little café tucked away on Mont-Royal in the Plateau. The inside has a warm, artsy feel, with a kind of rustic charm that makes you want to linger. Think local art on the walls, wooden tables, and a welcoming buzz that makes it feel like everyone knows each other.
The staff? Super friendly, young, and full of good vibes. There was upbeat French rap playing in the background, giving the whole place a laid-back but energetic atmosphere. It’s got that “neighborhood gem” thing down perfectly.
The Food
Let’s talk about that Panko Chicken Sandwich ($10.80). It was everything I didn’t know I needed—crispy, juicy, packed with flavor, and incredibly satisfying. But what really blew me away? They bake their bread fresh in-house, and build the sandwiches while the loaves are still steaming hot out of the oven. You can literally see the steam rising as they hand it to you. It’s next-level.
You can tell they care deeply about their ingredients and the experience. The sandwich had just the right balance of crunch and tenderness, and every bite felt thoughtful.
Other menu standouts include a spicy Merguez sausage sandwich, a Tunisian-style tuna, and a lamb kebab sandwich that looked like it deserved its own fan club. They also serve great coffee if you’re looking for a full café moment.
Service & Price
It’s counter service, but fast and genuinely friendly. Most sandwiches hover around the $10 mark, which feels like a total steal for the freshness, quality, and portion size you get.
Heads-Up
It can get busy during peak hours, so maybe try going a little earlier or later if you don’t want to wait. Also, bring cash or a debit card—they don’t take all credit cards.
Final Thoughts
Kahwa Café absolutely lives up to the hype. Between the flavorful food, the cozy-but-cool atmosphere, and the genuinely kind service, it’s now officially on my go-to list in Montreal. If you’re ever in the area— you know exactly where to go next.

Tasty couscous and friendly service in a fine-dining like resto. The only thing I did’t like was the hot spice in the food, it was too much for me. If you’re the same don’t think of trying their harissa 🔥(friendly advice). Else I recommend this place, enjoy!

I am so glad we chose this restaurant for a relaxing family lunch. The owner Noureddine was kind and welcoming. We enjoyed a large, filling meal with cucumber & tomato salad, assorted olives, pastilla au poule, vegetable soup, lamb tagine, kofta meatballs, couscous, chicken over rice, and then topped it off with tea, coffee & dates. Wow! Each dish was better than the last. All the meat was tender, the vegetables were fresh & well-cooked, and everything was seasoned perfectly. The environment is warm and relaxed. I wish we lived in the area so we could come again and again.

At first, nobody came to welcome us at the door for a good 20-30 minutes. The owner was nice and took his time to explain the menu. We didn’t have the best experience with the royal coucous. The merguez and lamb wasn’t too flavourful. We recommend trying the soup and beef briks.

The service was amazing. Super nice and attentive. Loved the ambiance, the music…
On the other hand, the beef had a lot of pieces of fat, like more than half the meat in my tacos :(
(I had 3, and all had a lot of pieces of fat in them) Not too sure if it’s custom in this type of cuisine, but I haven’t had this many pieces in any other restaurant that served the same dish.
As for the other two, missing flavor, but texture was good!!
Probably would not return, but for people who don’t mind pieces of fat, worth trying 😊

For the price, the food is pretty great! It’s not my favourite flavour wise, but it’s still high quality, tasty and original as a taco place (try their queso fundido, I believe it’s one of their specialties).
Friendly service, nice summer terrace and pleasant atmosphere.

The best most authentic tacos in the city. We had salsa, Flautitas, Chuleta, and güera. It’s not easy to find authentic Mexican food in Montreal. This is the best I’ve had. Don’t expect to come in and have a huge American style taco, because it’s the real stuff. I highly recommend eating here. They are friendly, kind, and the atmosphere is casual and comfortable. I am in love and will be coming back as often as I can!!

Honestly, the best tacos I’ve had in Montreal !! 😍😍😍
The tortillas are always tasty and warm and the meat is always nicely cooked and sooo juicy !!🤤🤤
I love that they also give you 3 different types of salsas with increasing degree of spiciness!!🥵 so you can enjoy different flavours with all your tacos!!
I always get the Horchatas as well! I think it’s an amazing chaser for the bold and spicy flavours of the tacos! Plus it’s refreshing and a milky heaven !!:p
HIGHLY recommend the tacos pastor, suadero and chorizo !!☺️☺️
I will come back every time I cost Montreal!;)

good food overall. the best dishes that we ordered were the cod fritters, the fried eggplant and the octopus tapas. The brie baguette did not stand out for the price. Dishes are definitely pricey but worth trying at least once. My only complaint is the use of the strictly digital menu which was a hassle.
Juliana Botelho - 2 months ago
Ibéricos was such a lovely experience, I debated giving it 5 stars.
The service was very friendly and took care of us the entire night. They let us sit down 30 mins earlier than our reservation.
The atmosphere was like a chic underground bar. It was funny trying to find the entrance through the yellow door, but when you step in, it's cozy and filled with warm light. You can see the paella pans hanging along with a huge jambon.
The food itself was delicious. We started with the croquettes, the calamari, and the fried eggplant tapas. Each tasted great, but I did find the calamari and the eggplant tasting very similar.
The highlight of the night was definitely the paella. We got both the rabbit/chicken and the seafood paella. Both had that crispy, smoky rice at the bottom, and the meat was very tender. The lemon gave it a nice freshness that really elevated the dish.
Overall, I'm really happy with this place, and just describing the dishes makes me hungry. I will be coming back for sure.

To be honest, my overall dining experience in Montreal was a bit disappointing. I probably had too high expectations, and that led to my letdown. I had high hopes for **Ibéricos**, and why wouldn’t I? Venezuelans are known for offering great customer service, and no matter where you go, they always manage to make you smile or have a good time.
That being said, it may not be entirely the owner’s or chef’s fault, but if I were to offer some advice, I’d suggest they focus on improving customer service. They could definitely work on making sure their staff provides better service. We were never greeted when we arrived, and a few of the staff members just looked at us and ignored us as if we didn’t matter. It wasn’t until about 10 minutes later that we had to ask where we could sit. Honestly, the service felt cold and disinterested.
The food, however, was excellent – I have no complaints there. The paella was delicious, with the socarrat cooked perfectly, and the presentation was spot-on, 10/10.
The Basque cheesecake was a nice way to end the meal and definitely made the experience a bit better. It was fantastic, 10/10.
P.S. I’m not sure if he was a waiter or a busboy, and he didn’t introduce himself, but he spoke only French and had dark skin. Thanks to him, my time at the restaurant ended on a positive note. He was a really nice guy, and I hope they take care of him.

Interesting Spanish food in Montreal. I had brunch with their table d’hôte menu, which has a starter and main dish for $25. The food portion is good. For the coffee, it was mediocre.

As someone who visited the place where Beherovka is made (Karlovy Vary) as a child, to find a Czech bar that serves cocktails based on the liqueur was a miracle! The drink menu is so unique, the atmosphere so chill - kind of Bierhalle- like, and the staff so so nice! Will be coming back for more!

As there are machine to take order. I love Mexican food but I can’t tolerate spicy. They should put an emoji, or something saying that is spicy. I took my order and I only ate the nachos. I value a lot the original recipes and for sure some people will enjoy it. But it’s better to avoid discomfort to let people know in advice which are spicy.

Easily accessible place located on the Mont Royal Av. steps away from the Mont Royal metro station.
The place is very small inside and can barely accommodate more than 6 people.
I expected better food as it wasn’t very delicious and unfortunately took a lot of time.
The place needs some cleaning and the staff should do better work dealing with customers.

These burritos were so so good! I had the seasoned chicken and my husband had the pastor burrito. You choose your toppings and then they wrap it up and heat it in the burrito press. They serve it with a side of tortilla chips topped with guacamole and sour cream.

Really delicious delightfully fully loaded tacos and chimichangas. Bit pricier but its a small mom n pop type shop and also on the plateau so definitely understandable. Not a lot of places to sit so if you're more than like 2 or 3 people Id reccomend doing take out. Super close to the mount royal metro so accesible by walking for sure.

Wow... dinner here last night with my wife was one of the best meals either of us have had in a really long time, and as true foodies who cook all the time and love exploring and eating at all kinds of wonderful places... trust me when I say that's saying something!
The food here is astonishingly good!! We started with the escargot which is impeccable, just delicious in every way... my wife had the incredible leg of lamb, and I had the extraordinary cassoulets... wow. It's hard to explain how amazing the guys in the kitchen's food truly is, I was looking for any critique possible and I didn't have one, a perfect 10/10 meal.
Atmosphere is amazing, everyone else there was sitting enjoying each other's company and food and sharing the wine they all brought... another incredible aspect of the place! The lady serving us was very friendly and happy as well. This is a hidden gem 100%... share a stunning meal with the people you care about 👌🏻

Our server, Chelsea, greeted us when we entered. While our reservation didn't get received for some reason, she welcomed us, and seated us. We arrived at 6:30 pm and the restaurant filled up over the next 45 minutes. Be sure to make a reservation.
I appreciated that Chelsea wasn't pretentious and she didn't push appetizers or dessert. She simply made excellent recommendations. When the restaurant was full, and she was busy, she efficiently handled the rush.
I had the veal shank with vegetables, which was excellent, and quite filling. We would definitely eat there again!

Really cute and intimate resto with a nice vibe. We really enjoyed our dinner here! The waitress was super kind and the food tasted great! We ordered the escargot, the venison and the lamb shank. I found the red wine sauce however a bit too salty for my liking. The pieces we got also looked much smaller than what we saw in the other reviews. I really appreciated that every element of the dish including the vegetables were well prepared and cooked. I can tell that the chefs take pride in their food. Overall great place for an intimate date night or a celebration.

What a fabulous restaurant this was and even better dining experience. The service was on point and the food was fresh, tasty and well worth the visit. If you enjoy a nice intimate dinner with a loved one or friends then I highly recommend visiting P'tit Plateau.
Update 2025 - Came back here to visit after seeing a change on their menu from prix fix to standard a la carte. The restaurant underwent new ownership but I'm happy to say the quality of food continues to excel, alongside the service. If I can make one recommendation, it's to attempt to change the menu either seasonally or yearly. It'll definitely keep me coming back.

I was looking forward to trying their sushi Tokyo, cause they looked so fresh and flavourful on their customers’ pictures. I didn’t expect anything amazing, but this was just terrible. Both my boyfriend and I ordered different sushi types and they were all bland, dry and flavourless. The tuna wasn’t the bright red that I expected in the pictures, it was almost a colourless light brown/pink… same for much of the other fish.
The snack options are good, prices are decent for those. As for the sushi, not worth the price. About the same as a restaurant which I’d rather go to.

Interesting store …. Basic shelves …. Alloy a/ steel metallic shelves thru out. All items displayed as is but many more items from Taiwan and Japan compare to most other stores which mostly import made in china items.
Decent price. Not overly expensive but not the lowest but really reasonable.
The take out food section is also great for those want a cheaper choice of food for take out. Great in the summer as the street is closed for pedestrians and many resting and sit down places.

This is a spot I consider a hidden gem as I'd never noticed or knew about it until a friend took me in there. There's so many options that you can't find easily elsewhere. Many stores cater to Japanese snacks, which this one has, but they also have many different types of ramen packs available, sodas, and my favorite, Japanese curry bricks.
