Absolutely awesome food here! It's hard finding a good Chinese food place, this place is great! The waiter was super duper friendly and accommodating, and the food was great!
The lobster was quite good, and their other dishes like fried wonton, mapa tofu, beef with brocoli and others were delicious.
Definitely recommend this place!

Went recently for a late-night meal and had some of the best Chinese food I’ve had in a long time. The staff were very attentive to my party’s shellfish allergy, which we really appreciated. They also had a great selection of vegetarian dishes—the General Tso tofu was absolutely incredible! I’ll definitely be back.

We used to live in Montreal and had not been to the Beijing Restaurant in over 10 years! We would usually come with a large group including my wife's 90-year-old grandmother. It was her favorite restaurant for going out to dinner. We have had many delicious dim sum and entrees over the years, and the food this night was just as good as we remembered it!!

this cantonese style chinese food hit the spot! the peeking duck skin was crispy and the meat was juicy. there was good wok hei on the beef chow ho and the peking duck stirfry vegetables. the eggplant, pork, and tofu was perfectly seasoned and cooked. the salt and pepper calamari could when used more salt and pepper but overall every crispy. good place and the server was very funny

Stumbled upon this place for dinner and it was excellent! The food came out amazingly fast, and it was great. We had the cantonese chow mein, general tao chicken, pork noodle soup with vermicelli noodles, and spring rolls. It was very affordable as well. The staff are very efficient and the service is incredible. The second our water was empty they replaced it with a new one. They were very attentive and kind. Very glad we came here!

We were a group of friends, 5 people. The place is in Chinatown and small. It doesn't accept reservations, but the line is fast (we waited 10 min). The service was incredibly kind, funny, fast and attentive. We celebrated a friend's bday and 2 friends who are becoming fathers and the staff started to sing with us 🤣 they kept our desserts in their fridge (very nice of em). The best part is the food, oh boy so delicious!! The portions super huge (i suggest to share) and very cheap (5 people, average of 2 plates each person, 81$🥲). 5 stars definitely deserved! I suggest to try house noodles beef with broccoli! They accept only cash, but the ATM is just in front the restaurant (right after the street lights, behind the corner).

S- [must try / 一定要吃到]
· my friend showed me this famous Japanese shabu in Montreal Downtown (located in the heart of Chinatown)
· their shabu set comes with veggie platter + dessert
· my favorite was their beef ribeye (highly recommend ordering their futari set for 2 people for more value)
· their ingredients were very fresh + perfect for photos
· interior vibe was chill + comfy (although service was a little slow)
· i dont like how theres no soup refill... (recommend their dashi kombu soup base)
tldr: i liked their shabu but its on the pricy end!!!

We were there on a Tuesday night, so it was very quiet, weekend might be different. No wait for a table. Very friendly and helpful service. The food was amazing, I ate so much! Broth flavourful and the meats were very good. Highly recommend it!

First time trying Shabu Shabu. Great atmosphere and friendly service, though they did feel understaffed. We got their new omakase set for 39$ and the sukiyaki broth. The portions seemed small at first glance but turned out to be surprisingly filling. The broth was really good but on the salty side, had to drink lots of water. Be careful not to leave your ingredients soaking in the broth for too long! Overall I'd come back here for a special occasion!

Japanese shabu in Chinatown. It’s been great over the years, keep coming back. Same consistent quality food. Sukiyaki soup is the best for Angus beef lightly cooked and dipped in raw egg. Prime beef is great as more lean option.
Ines W - 8 months ago
Fantastic service that was attentive and speedy. The spicy broth really hit the spot. There is plenty of food for each set. I got the premium beef set and it was really yummy. Wish there was a bit more meat but I came away stuffed (there was a lot of veggies, and it came with a bowl of rice and noodles). The sesame sauce was also really yummy. The ponzu sauce was a bit too salty.
Dessert was an alfogato with chocolate ice cream. The ice cream tasted like cheap ice cream but it was elevated by the espresso.

Nice combo of offerings serving both sorbet/ice cream and cupcakes.
Kid jus loved their sorbet and devoted it to
Cupcakes were on the expensive side but aligned with what would be expected in Montreal Old town where tourists gather. Salted caramel chocolate was a good mix of sweet and salt.

I'm out of the city from Alberta, and I saw this cupcake shop while walking. I was craving a treat so I had to step inside and take a look. The selection is small but every option is mouth watering. I ended up getting the vanilla caramel cupcake. Every bit was perfect! Not too sweet, but enough salty as well from the caramel. Couldn't be happier with my selection of cupcake, and for the unexpected stop.

Visited this cafe on a trip to Montreal.
Ordered the dulce de leche frappe and the mocha frappe. Both great! Enjoyed the mocha frappe more. Nice atmosphere, good service. I will return!

Still on the hunt for a solid coffee spot near work, I decided to give the Café Dépot in Complexe Desjardins (the one with the Saint-Catherine entrance) a try. It’s definitely convenient, and the interior is clean, well-lit, and well stocked. It also wasn’t very busy, which made for a quick in-and-out visit.
I ordered a large coffee, which, in reality, is more like a medium by competitor standards. It was… fine. Just fine. Not bad, not great—just something to get the job done. But at nearly $4, I was quickly reminded why Café Dépot is rarely on my go-to list. For the same price elsewhere, I could get a larger and noticeably better brew.
That said, if you’re looking for convenience over quality and don’t feel like waiting in line, this place does the trick. But for a coffee that actually makes your morning, you might want to keep looking.
Brandan Johnston - 7 months ago
We came here for a quick bite while exploring the area. Definitely recommended. There are two entrances - the street side on St Catherine Street and one from inside Complexe Desjardins.
We went for a regular coffee, a Dragon fruit Aqua Fresca, a Peach Ice Tea, an Oats muffin, a Caprese sandwich and Falafel wrap. Everything was great, except for Falafel where sweet potatoes tasted out of place.
The lady at the counter was very patient (as we took a little more than usual time to decide the order) and friendly. Great service.
It's a pedestrian street, at least during summer I think, so parking can be tricky near St Catherine Street.
Definitely recommended!!

We had a very good breakfast, with fair prices considering it’s located inside the Place d’Armes Hotel and right in front of Notre Dame. We ordered avocado toast, forest omelette, and chicken waffle, all were enjoyable. The service was good, although they were short-staffed during our visit, which was noticeable.
The bar is very high in Montreal, so I save a 5-star rating for truly exceptional experiences.

Had an amazing brunch at Brasserie 701 today! I ordered the chicken & waffles and it was absolutely delicious. My friends got the vegetarian benedicts, the forest omelette, and the bacon omelette — and everyone loved their dishes. Not a single miss! Our server, Elodie, was super friendly and really made the experience even better. The atmosphere is beautiful and very classy. Definitely in my top 10 brunch spots in Montreal. Highly recommend! 🙌🥞🍗✨

I decided to have some lunch at this french restaurant in Montreal and I was blewn away by the freshness and flavor of the food!
The service here was great. I chose bar seating as I was for one, because of this I had a chance to interact with a few of the service team and they were able to help me decide what to try on the menu! They were also very friendly, accommodating and relatable!
This was my first time having beef tartar and let me tell you, I'm so glad I tried it here and not anywhere else! The flavors of the tartar were elegant but bold and blended together so smoothly in every bite. If your having any thoughts about trying the beef tartar, I recommend!

Stepping into this establishment was nothing short of AMAZING! The French architecture of the building and surrounding areas was mind blowing. From the food to the decor and inside aesthetics, this is an absolute brunch experience you don’t want to miss when visiting Montreal. Our waitress Melissa was such a warm soul with a pleasant attitude and just an overall zest for life… she made our dining experience incredible! Kudos to her and the entire wait staff. My husband really enjoyed his birthday brunch!

Been here a few times but it was my first dinner. The Niçoise salad was surprisingly pretty good. I told my daughter they had a really good beef tartare(had it for lunch last fall) but we were disappointed it was a little chewy and the potion smaller. However the sea bass with the leeks & purée were well prepared and delicious. Sealed the meal with a crème brûlée which was good!

While visiting Montreal for just a day, I knew I had to explore Chinatown and enjoy some authentic Chinese cuisine. I came across Mai Xiang Yuan Dumpling, a spot with solid ratings and promising reviews.
The moment you step in, it gives off that classic, old-style Chinese restaurant vibe — cozy, unpretentious, and full of character. The staff are warm and welcoming, making the dining experience even better. One thing to note: they only accept cash, so be sure to have some on hand before you go.
The food itself is excellent and truly authentic. Their dumplings are packed with flavor and made fresh, and the soup is just as satisfying — comforting, rich, and perfectly balanced.
If you’re in Chinatown, Montreal, and want a genuine dumpling experience, Mai Xiang Yuan is well worth a visit. Just remember to bring cash and an appetite.

We got the juicy pork soup dumplings and the spicy beef fried dumplings-- the pork were classic and delicious and the beef were the best we ever had! Perfect on a cold day-- shoulda had a beer to go with them 🍺

A simple guideline for you:
1.Order one Steamed Juicy Dumplings B71 (pork & shrimp)/ or regular dumplings with (pork & shrimp)
2.Order a plate of cucumber or seaweed.
3.Mix 50% soy sauce with 50% vinegar (the most important part)
Enjoy your wonderful day!

First timers in Montreal and amazed at the variety and quality of restaurants. I’m from Richmond, BC, where we have the best Chinese food but this restaurant exceeds most of the wonton places I’ve been to.
The roast pork is crispy and comes with ginger and onion sauce which makes eating pork belly less indulgent! The Cantonese chow mein is tasty and comes with plenty of ingredients. I asked for xtra crispy noodles and it came perfectly. The cup of steamed rice seemed like a bowl. It was overflowing!
The 2 ladies serving were hustling and bustling. They were attentive, efficient and friendly!
The prices were also very fair. This restaurant is a must try when in Chinatown!!!

Dobe & Andy Montreal’s Cantonese BBQ Gem
Located in the heart of Montreal’s Chinatown at 1071 Rue Saint-Urbain, Dobe & Andy is a go-to destination for authentic Cantonese barbecue that delivers big flavor at fair prices. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, with a gritty, no-frills charm that lets the food take center stage. It's the kind of place where locals and food lovers gather for comforting, hearty meals without any pretension.
One of the undeniable stars of the menu is the roast duck. Rich, golden skin that crackles perfectly with every bite, and succulent, juicy meat that falls off the bone it’s everything you’d want from a Cantonese-style roast. The duck is typically served chopped into hearty pieces and paired with a vibrant ginger-scallion sauce that adds a fresh, aromatic punch. It’s simple, but intensely satisfying.
Beyond the duck, the menu is packed with other BBQ favorites like roast pork, soy chicken, and char siu, each prepared with care and precision. The portions are generous, and the prices are more than reasonable making it easy to enjoy a full, satisfying meal without stretching your wallet.
The vibe at Dobe & Andy is casual, homey, and buzzing with energy. It feels like a true hidden gem, offering classic comfort food in an authentic, welcoming environment. Whether you're grabbing takeout or dining in, the experience feels genuine and grounded focused on great food, made right.
In short, Dobe & Andy is the kind of place you keep coming back to. Great value, bold flavors, and a roast duck that easily ranks among the best in the city.

Dobe & Andy came highly recommended as a must-try spot for Chinese BBQ in Montreal, so we were really looking forward to it—especially coming from Toronto, where great and affordable Chinese BBQ options are everywhere.
Unfortunately, it ended up being a big disappointment. When we arrived, it was a bit chaotic and unclear whether we were supposed to line up or just wait to be seated—there wasn’t much direction. Once we got seated and looked at the menu, we noticed the prices were quite high compared to what we’re used to in Toronto. Still, we were hopeful the food would make up for it.
But when the food arrived, the portions were underwhelming for the price. The large green vegetable dish alone was over $14. The BBQ pork (cha siu) was a major letdown—dry, thickly cut, and lacking flavor. The roast pork was also dry and didn’t come with nearly enough sauce. The BBQ duck was decent, but nothing special.
Overall, we left pretty disappointed. Honestly, I could walk into any Chinese BBQ spot in Toronto—even the ones inside grocery stores—and get better BBQ pork than what we had here. It just didn’t live up to the hype.

There is always a line here so be prepared to wait a bit before being able to enter the restaurant. Although, the tables are changed pretty quickly so even though the line might seem a bit long, it's usually not too bad. The food itself was great. I really enjoyed the texture of the noodles and you get to pick the thickness of them as well. I do feel like the flavours were a bit light, I would have preferred the flavours to be stronger so that the noodles would have more flavours as well. The spiciness is really good though which was great. The side dishes were definitely not as good, I feel like all the effort are put into the noodles which makes the side dishes not that great. The service is fast. We had several waiter and waitresses serve us throughout the night and honestly speaking, some were a lot more polite and gentle than others. They were all working professionally, but some waiters gave off a bit of a rude impression at times. Even though the restaurant has a lot of tables and can accommodate a lot of people, the tables are pretty small.

Lan Zhou is directly a part of-occupying the floor above Marché G&D, it is a Chinatown handmade noodle spot. But you would miss if you didn’t see the lineup that is not there for the market. We were headed there as part of our Chinatown trek, and it stayed busy even for a late Sunday lunch. Quarters are tight—real estate is clearly at a premium—but you don’t care because you’re here for the big, beautiful bowls of noodle soup.
My daughter and I stopped in while making our way through the neighbourhood (watch for those other reviews soon). We shared one large bowl and only had a little each—she took the rest home for later in the day, or maybe even the week. Really good quality all around. The handmade noodles come in about eight sizes, from wide, flat ribbons almost as big as lasagna sheets down to skinny vermicelli.
Service is abrupt and quick—no small talk, just efficiency. And when I asked about tea, the reply was short and clear: “No tea.”

We visited on a Friday evening around 7 PM and had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, which seems typical for the time. Once seated, the food came out quickly—within 5–10 minutes.
I had the dan dan noodles, and they were flavorful and delicious. The texture of the pulled noodles was especially impressive—fresh, chewy, and clearly made with care. I also ordered an egg with my noodles, but unfortunately, it never arrived.
My husband had the traditional noodles with extra meat. He thought they were just okay—the broth was average and didn’t stand out much.
Overall, I’d definitely return for the dan dan noodles and those amazing pulled noodles, but I hope the service is a bit more attentive next time.

Totally recommend this amazing place to get authentic and delicious Lanzhou noodles. For noodle thickness, I recommend 3rd thickness.
Service: The waiters were nice, but there was a long line to get in (which is understandable for a popular spot).
Atmosphere: Love! I adore the way it is decorated in Chinese style.
Food: My family ordered the traditional Lanzhou noodles, beef tendon noodles, and zhajiangmian (dry soybean noodles in English I think). The portions are huge. For example, someone ordered a medium yet they were unable to finish it. Not to mention, the price is very reasonable.

Dan dan noodles
- on the drier side, nice twist, the spicy level wasn’t spicy at all.
- Noodles were bouncy and soft, perfect. You could tell they were hand crafted
- Meat to noodle ratio needs to increase.
- Medium size is huge, its 2x portions.
- The cucumber salad was a nice twist with the Sichuan chilis
The server sneezed three times, apologized after the second time. He didn’t wash his hands and served water to the new table.
The restaurant has a quick turnover rate. The food was delivered fast, it was hot and fresh.
I wouldn’t order the Dan Dan noodles again, but might try another noodle soup dish.
