Absolutely awesome food here! It's hard finding a good Chinese food place, this place is great! The waiter was super duper friendly and accommodating, and the food was great!
The lobster was quite good, and their other dishes like fried wonton, mapa tofu, beef with brocoli and others were delicious.
Definitely recommend this place!

Delicious chop suey won ton soup. Great ambience, very kind staff. Even the oolong tea they gave me before ordering was delicious. I will be returning!

We used to live in Montreal and had not been to the Beijing Restaurant in over 10 years! We would usually come with a large group including my wife's 90-year-old grandmother. It was her favorite restaurant for going out to dinner. We have had many delicious dim sum and entrees over the years, and the food this night was just as good as we remembered it!!

Went recently for a late-night meal and had some of the best Chinese food I’ve had in a long time. The staff were very attentive to my party’s shellfish allergy, which we really appreciated. They also had a great selection of vegetarian dishes—the General Tso tofu was absolutely incredible! I’ll definitely be back.

This place is nothing fancy to look at, that’s not the point. But what you will get are incredible dumplings and noodles at great prices. Just make sure to have cash before you come here!

One of the best places i ate. Big dish, super tasty, good price, excelent service, very clean, polite, attention to details. You get complementary soy sauce, spicy oil peper seeds and water with every dish.
For the people complaining about the 10% tip that would be about 3$ for 2 persons, just think how much would be the free water you get with your food would cost. There is a toilet available. Bring cash.

S- [must try / 一定要吃到]
· my friend showed me this famous Japanese shabu in Montreal Downtown (located in the heart of Chinatown)
· their shabu set comes with veggie platter + dessert
· my favorite was their beef ribeye (highly recommend ordering their futari set for 2 people for more value)
· their ingredients were very fresh + perfect for photos
· interior vibe was chill + comfy (although service was a little slow)
· i dont like how theres no soup refill... (recommend their dashi kombu soup base)
tldr: i liked their shabu but its on the pricy end!!!

We were there on a Tuesday night, so it was very quiet, weekend might be different. No wait for a table. Very friendly and helpful service. The food was amazing, I ate so much! Broth flavourful and the meats were very good. Highly recommend it!

First time trying Shabu Shabu. Great atmosphere and friendly service, though they did feel understaffed. We got their new omakase set for 39$ and the sukiyaki broth. The portions seemed small at first glance but turned out to be surprisingly filling. The broth was really good but on the salty side, had to drink lots of water. Be careful not to leave your ingredients soaking in the broth for too long! Overall I'd come back here for a special occasion!

Japanese shabu in Chinatown. It’s been great over the years, keep coming back. Same consistent quality food. Sukiyaki soup is the best for Angus beef lightly cooked and dipped in raw egg. Prime beef is great as more lean option.
Ines W - 11 months ago
Fantastic service that was attentive and speedy. The spicy broth really hit the spot. There is plenty of food for each set. I got the premium beef set and it was really yummy. Wish there was a bit more meat but I came away stuffed (there was a lot of veggies, and it came with a bowl of rice and noodles). The sesame sauce was also really yummy. The ponzu sauce was a bit too salty.
Dessert was an alfogato with chocolate ice cream. The ice cream tasted like cheap ice cream but it was elevated by the espresso.

Nice combo of offerings serving both sorbet/ice cream and cupcakes.
Kid jus loved their sorbet and devoted it to
Cupcakes were on the expensive side but aligned with what would be expected in Montreal Old town where tourists gather. Salted caramel chocolate was a good mix of sweet and salt.
Allanah - 4 months ago
I'm out of the city from Alberta, and I saw this cupcake shop while walking. I was craving a treat so I had to step inside and take a look. The selection is small but every option is mouth watering. I ended up getting the vanilla caramel cupcake. Every bit was perfect! Not too sweet, but enough salty as well from the caramel. Couldn't be happier with my selection of cupcake, and for the unexpected stop.

Visited this cafe on a trip to Montreal.
Ordered the dulce de leche frappe and the mocha frappe. Both great! Enjoyed the mocha frappe more. Nice atmosphere, good service. I will return!

We came here for a quick bite while exploring the area. Definitely recommended. There are two entrances - the street side on St Catherine Street and one from inside Complexe Desjardins.
We went for a regular coffee, a Dragon fruit Aqua Fresca, a Peach Ice Tea, an Oats muffin, a Caprese sandwich and Falafel wrap. Everything was great, except for Falafel where sweet potatoes tasted out of place.
The lady at the counter was very patient (as we took a little more than usual time to decide the order) and friendly. Great service.
It's a pedestrian street, at least during summer I think, so parking can be tricky near St Catherine Street.
Definitely recommended!!

Service is lacking in attention. If you stand at the food section they will ignore you. Sometimes not enough staff help and do other busy work even though there is a line of people waiting to order. The food can be good but sometimes its dry (pastries)

We were 3 couples and we were trying out the "Happening Gourmand” menu for $49. We were warmly greeted and seated at our table. Our waiter Kenny was excellent. He was efficient and attentive. The decor of the restaurant is very appealing and had former bank vibes. The washrooms need a deep clean and a slight refresh but are well equipped. With the Happening Gourmand menu, you get a choice of soup or salad. One person took the soup and said it was delicious. The rest of us took the spinach salad. It was good but was heavy on the salt. The dressing was yummy. My wife and I took the braised beef cheek and despite the plates arriving covered with stainless steel lids to our table, the food was almost cold. Once again, the beef jus reduction sauce was on the salty side and the beef cheek was on the dry side and not as tender as it should have been both being braised and a cut of beef which is usually very tender. Plating was also ordinary and lacked any creative/artistic appeal. All in all the meal was decent but lacked culinary finesse. The service and decor definitely add to the experience.

We had a very good breakfast, with fair prices considering it’s located inside the Place d’Armes Hotel and right in front of Notre Dame. We ordered avocado toast, forest omelette, and chicken waffle, all were enjoyable. The service was good, although they were short-staffed during our visit, which was noticeable.
The bar is very high in Montreal, so I save a 5-star rating for truly exceptional experiences.

We had a great time at the Christmas brunch buffet, and our waitress Melissa was a darling!
Our party of six was comfortably seated in the corner, and we each enjoyed the food that appealed to us. The ooey gooey chocolatey marshamallowy cookie was especially tasty!

I decided to have some lunch at this french restaurant in Montreal and I was blewn away by the freshness and flavor of the food!
The service here was great. I chose bar seating as I was for one, because of this I had a chance to interact with a few of the service team and they were able to help me decide what to try on the menu! They were also very friendly, accommodating and relatable!
This was my first time having beef tartar and let me tell you, I'm so glad I tried it here and not anywhere else! The flavors of the tartar were elegant but bold and blended together so smoothly in every bite. If your having any thoughts about trying the beef tartar, I recommend!

Stepping into this establishment was nothing short of AMAZING! The French architecture of the building and surrounding areas was mind blowing. From the food to the decor and inside aesthetics, this is an absolute brunch experience you don’t want to miss when visiting Montreal. Our waitress Melissa was such a warm soul with a pleasant attitude and just an overall zest for life… she made our dining experience incredible! Kudos to her and the entire wait staff. My husband really enjoyed his birthday brunch!

Had a great time. Service is super friendly and fast, the food is well seasoned, which is something I miss on other dumpling places in the region. I had the steamed lamb with cilantro and pork with curry onions and they were delicious. Shrimp wonton soup is a good call too.
Important: they only take cash! There is an ATM machine at the entrance.

While visiting Montreal for just a day, I knew I had to explore Chinatown and enjoy some authentic Chinese cuisine. I came across Mai Xiang Yuan Dumpling, a spot with solid ratings and promising reviews.
The moment you step in, it gives off that classic, old-style Chinese restaurant vibe — cozy, unpretentious, and full of character. The staff are warm and welcoming, making the dining experience even better. One thing to note: they only accept cash, so be sure to have some on hand before you go.
The food itself is excellent and truly authentic. Their dumplings are packed with flavor and made fresh, and the soup is just as satisfying — comforting, rich, and perfectly balanced.
If you’re in Chinatown, Montreal, and want a genuine dumpling experience, Mai Xiang Yuan is well worth a visit. Just remember to bring cash and an appetite.

They serve really good portions, it was difficult for us to eat everything. The dishes have good taste, but probably I was having more expectations just by seeing the duck at the entrance. We were looking for the best duck and we asked to Gemini for the recommendation. We aren’t sure if this is the best one but I was expecting a more crunchy flavor
Patsy Iturbe - a month ago
lived up to the praise I'd heard.
The experience was great, with a menu that feels confident rather than showy. Everything was well-executed, but the duck stood out in particular—rich, balanced, and memorable. A genuinely enjoyable meal and a place I'm glad to have finally discovered for myself.

This hidden gem now becomes one of my favorite spot to go for dinner with friends, not only that all the dishes are delicious, it is also affordable! The deco brings me back to the old fashioned styles restaurant.
The service was quick and super friendly! The portion is big enough for individual. I will definitely try more dishes next time when I come back there! I recommend everyone to try out this place.

A long-established spot in Chinatown that many locals know well. Famous for roast pork and roast duck, especially the roast duck noodles. Authentic Chinese flavors. Upstairs seating offers a great view of the street enjoy hot noodles with Hong Kong style milk tea while watching snowfall in winter or golden leaves in autumn. A true Hong Kong experience in the heart of Montreal.

Absolutely delicious! We had a great meal. It was our first time so we asked for recommendations and how to eat when the meal arrived. The wait staff was nice and attentionate and offered us great recommendations. 100% delicious and the price was very good. We tried the signature dish, the wonton soup, the spring rolls, hot honey tea and a daily special I don't remember the name of, it was a pho-type broth with braised pork, wontons, onions, noodles and coriander. It was amazing 😊

The place is very busy, but worth the wait. Getting to see the noodles being made is pretty cool. The flavours are excellent, the broth is rich and comforting, and the spiciness in the other dishes is just right. Everything comes together nicely in each bowl. A great spot for Chinese noodles!

We were lucky to get a table for 5 people! Resto not busy. We ordered 4 vegie noodle soups and one beef noodle soup. Portion was very generous. We enjoyed all soups. Veggie Broth not as rich as meat Broth but this is why we liked it. Simple and yet still delicious. We love trying diffrent soups.

Expensive for noodles, but you get what you pay for. These noodles are above average and the customization options are truly neat. No wonder why there's almost always a line during lunch time. The ingredients are also above average when it comes to quality. Service could be better, though. They seem to have no intention in explaining anything, but they're fast and you won't wait too long for your noodles, even when the place is jammed. And it's almost always jammed.

Too Hot in August to sit inside and eat !
Invest in some air-conditioning or at least better circulation of air .
The Waitress Gave us small glasses of water then disappeared.
We ended up leaving and getting noodles to go.
They weren't as good in plastic to go containers as eating in the restaurant.
I would love to return under better conditions and try them again !

It’s a surprisingly smaller place. But you can see right through the kitchen. Ben outside you can watch them pull the noodles. Which is pretty cool. The spicy bow was one of the best ramens I’ve had in a while. Definitely a good place to go when visiting.
