Don’t let the 4 stars fool you, this place deserves 5 stars. Truly so authentic, one of the best comfort Chinese food places in Montreal. The cooks in the back have been perfecting the food for decades, the service is warm and super quick, and the huge menu variety doesn’t deplete the high quality of every dish. Excellent food, paired with truly exceptional service.

The food is incredible!! 5 stars!!!
Nothing else is 5 stars: the ambiance, the service, the cleanliness.
I learned about this Restaurant Beijing on a food tour- our guide said she and her family would visit here weekly for dinner! I can see why- the food is delicious! The menu is vast so everyone can find something.
The gals at the front counter had a lovely, vibrant energy! The male servers could take a lesson from them. I understand it’s always busy but a smile and a “Bonjour” would be the bare minimum. And there wasn’t even that. The bathrooms were atrocious. Use the hand sanitizer at the front counter.
You pay at the front… otherwise you’re just sitting there.

Great spot. Got the hot and sour soup, 1/4 duck, mushu pork, and chow mein. The mushu pork was to die for.

Quaint Chinese restaurant in Chinatown with prompt and courteous service. The Beef Chow Ho was quite good as was the eggplant with tofu and pork. I appreciate how simple and straightforward this place is, and the food did not disappoint for a quick Chinese lunch.

I liked it, be careful tho the soups are really hot, but they were really good, we had won ton soup and duck soup, never had duck soup before, it was a good experience, the sweet and sour pineapple pork was really delicious and crispy, and the pad Thai was missing a little flavour, but there’s soya sauce on the table, but still overall I liked my experience here, the staff was amazing and attentive, very quick with food and cleaning the tables, and “the washrooms are dirty, even the walls(my husband says)”

Great little spot for fantastic Chinese food. Dishes came out quick and portion sizes were big. We got General Tao chicken, house noodles, and wide noodles. So good! Cash only is only down fall.

We were a group of friends, 5 people. The place is in Chinatown and small. It doesn't accept reservations, but the line is fast (we waited 10 min). The service was incredibly kind, funny, fast and attentive. We celebrated a friend's bday and 2 friends who are becoming fathers and the staff started to sing with us 🤣 they kept our desserts in their fridge (very nice of em). The best part is the food, oh boy so delicious!! The portions super huge (i suggest to share) and very cheap (5 people, average of 2 plates each person, 81$🥲). 5 stars definitely deserved! I suggest to try house noodles beef with broccoli! They accept only cash, but the ATM is just in front the restaurant (right after the street lights, behind the corner).

hi! a cute little place, we got our good very fast and our waiter was very attentive if needed.
we ordered general tao, it did not look nor taste like the usual red general tao, but was very tasty nonetheless. the noodles were plenty, could have used more veggies!

Great location with amazing staff. The restaurant is cozy and clean. The service is super quick. Food is good too. I'd love to try the noodles next time.

Small restaurant with limited seatings so make sure to arrive as soon as they open. Super welcoming staff and food came fast and fresh (noodle and dumplings are my favorites). I’ve been going here for years and can say that they have cut down on the portion like many other restaurants but it is still super affordable. I usually pay almost double elsewhere for the same amount of food. I strongly suggest to give it a try if you’re craving for fast chinese food without breaking your bank.

First time trying Shabu Shabu. Great atmosphere and friendly service, though they did feel understaffed. We got their new omakase set for 39$ and the sukiyaki broth. The portions seemed small at first glance but turned out to be surprisingly filling. The broth was really good but on the salty side, had to drink lots of water. Be careful not to leave your ingredients soaking in the broth for too long! Overall I'd come back here for a special occasion!

Japanese shabu in Chinatown. It’s been great over the years, keep coming back. Same consistent quality food. Sukiyaki soup is the best for Angus beef lightly cooked and dipped in raw egg. Prime beef is great as more lean option.

Fantastic service that was attentive and speedy. The spicy broth really hit the spot. There is plenty of food for each set. I got the premium beef set and it was really yummy. Wish there was a bit more meat but I came away stuffed (there was a lot of veggies, and it came with a bowl of rice and noodles). The sesame sauce was also really yummy. The ponzu sauce was a bit too salty.
Dessert was an alfogato with chocolate ice cream. The ice cream tasted like cheap ice cream but it was elevated by the espresso.
Stella Chen - 3 months ago
The food was fresh. The sets are very filling because of the noodles and rice you get.
However I thought the price was a lot for what you get. The sets could probably come with more meat.

Still on the hunt for a solid coffee spot near work, I decided to give the Café Dépot in Complexe Desjardins (the one with the Saint-Catherine entrance) a try. It’s definitely convenient, and the interior is clean, well-lit, and well stocked. It also wasn’t very busy, which made for a quick in-and-out visit.
I ordered a large coffee, which, in reality, is more like a medium by competitor standards. It was… fine. Just fine. Not bad, not great—just something to get the job done. But at nearly $4, I was quickly reminded why Café Dépot is rarely on my go-to list. For the same price elsewhere, I could get a larger and noticeably better brew.
That said, if you’re looking for convenience over quality and don’t feel like waiting in line, this place does the trick. But for a coffee that actually makes your morning, you might want to keep looking.

We came here for a quick bite while exploring the area. Definitely recommended. There are two entrances - the street side on St Catherine Street and one from inside Complexe Desjardins.
We went for a regular coffee, a Dragon fruit Aqua Fresca, a Peach Ice Tea, an Oats muffin, a Caprese sandwich and Falafel wrap. Everything was great, except for Falafel where sweet potatoes tasted out of place.
The lady at the counter was very patient (as we took a little more than usual time to decide the order) and friendly. Great service.
It's a pedestrian street, at least during summer I think, so parking can be tricky near St Catherine Street.
Definitely recommended!!

I was at the lower level Cafe Depot in the food court of Complexe Desjardin on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at about 18h30, and the person making the coffee (sorry I didn't get your name) was amazing.
She was the only employee so there was a significant line up, but she took care to make everyone feel special.
My Americano was perfect.

The environment was amazing, and the quality of the food was excellent. We ordered the salmon and steak — both were incredibly tender with a perfectly balanced taste. The sauce for the salmon was absolutely heavenly.
I also tried the Coco Fraise mocktail, which was delicious; the coconut flavor was very pronounced, and I really loved it.
We were celebrating our anniversary, and for dessert, we ordered a crème brûlée, which the restaurant kindly offered on the house. It made our experience even more special.
The staff were super kind and helpful. Despite being a busy Saturday night, the food was served quite fast.

Had a wonderful breakfast experience here! The interior was beautifully luxurious with stylish contemporary touches that made the space feel both elegant and inviting.
We ordered a croissant and salmon salad, and both dishes truly impressed us. Even the simple croissant stood out—it was flaky, flavorful, and far above the usual breakfast fare. When I added prosciutto and butter, it became one of the most delicious and unique croissants I’ve ever had.
The service was warm and made us feel like valued guests, adding to the overall positive experience. The only downside was that it took quite a while to receive our bill, which was a bit of a hiccup in an otherwise seamless morning.

Had brunch in the private room for a bachelorette party. The private room is great so would recommend for an event, very spacious we had 10 people and there was plenty of space. It was a set brunch menu, picture attached. We arrived on time and our table was not ready so we did wait about 10 minutes or so in the lounge so recognizing they were likely busy and understaffed.
The service was very very slow, with such a large group in the private dining room you would expect a more attentive service. Getting coffee and mimosas probably took a good 20-30 minutes and the food only arrived about 45 minutes after placing the order. The whole brunch took probably 2.5-3 hours.
The basket of fresh croissants and baked goods were incredible! They were warm and tasty! The rest of the brunch menu was mediocre. The latte was alright. We were given espresso martinis version of a shot at the end of the brunch on the house, which was a nice touch.
The washrooms are very nice and clean.

It’s actually a restaurant inside a hotel which I usually try to avoid but it came highly recommended.
We started with charcuterie board and ended with sampling desserts.
The steak and fries were juicy and tasty. The chicken was delicious and so was the duck.

Mai Xiang Yuan is an absolute gem that delivers an unforgettable culinary experience from start to finish. We began our meal with two refreshing cold starters: the Cucumber Salad and Wood Ear Mushroom Salad—both perfectly seasoned with just the right balance of garlic, vinegar, and sesame oil. Each bite was crisp, clean, and packed with flavour. But the star of the appetizer round was definitely #55: the Cilantro and Black Mushroom Salad. Earthy, aromatic, and beautifully balanced, it offered a unique texture and taste that elevated the entire dining experience
For the main event, we shared an order of fried pork and cabbage dumplings—crispy on the outside and juicy within, each dumpling bursting with well-seasoned filling that left us wanting more. The boiled lamb and spring onion dumplings were equally exceptional: tender, comforting, and infused with the subtle sweetness of spring onion that paired beautifully with the richness of the lamb.
Everything was made even better with a couple of cold Tsingtao beers to wash it all down. The pairing of the dumplings and Tsingtao was nothing short of perfect—light, refreshing, and incredibly satisfying.
Service was prompt, friendly, and welcoming. This is a spot where tradition meets quality, and every dish reflects the care and craft of true culinary artistry. We’ll be back—soon, and often.

After a long bus tour, we were alighted at the China town gates, the tour guide recommendedstopto go into China Town. As we entered, Mai Xiang dumplings caught our eye. The staff was welcoming, and we sat and ordered Hot and Sour Soup, pan friend lamb, and pork dumplings. The soup was very good and so were the dumplings. Service was excellent.

Dobe & Andy came highly recommended as a must-try spot for Chinese BBQ in Montreal, so we were really looking forward to it—especially coming from Toronto, where great and affordable Chinese BBQ options are everywhere.
Unfortunately, it ended up being a big disappointment. When we arrived, it was a bit chaotic and unclear whether we were supposed to line up or just wait to be seated—there wasn’t much direction. Once we got seated and looked at the menu, we noticed the prices were quite high compared to what we’re used to in Toronto. Still, we were hopeful the food would make up for it.
But when the food arrived, the portions were underwhelming for the price. The large green vegetable dish alone was over $14. The BBQ pork (cha siu) was a major letdown—dry, thickly cut, and lacking flavor. The roast pork was also dry and didn’t come with nearly enough sauce. The BBQ duck was decent, but nothing special.
Overall, we left pretty disappointed. Honestly, I could walk into any Chinese BBQ spot in Toronto—even the ones inside grocery stores—and get better BBQ pork than what we had here. It just didn’t live up to the hype.

Last time I came here was before COVID. Unfortunately, it’s been a disappointment. Used to take the lunch combo. Took the Cantonese chow mein and pork soup noodles.
Cantonese chow mein : they used oyster sauce to make the sauce… big no already. Too salty but not even flavour. Dish was really small for a Chinese dish. There was no “Wok fire” taste at all, felt like cooked at home.
Pork noodles : broth could had a bigger hit of flavour, overall it was ok.
Milk tea was good.
Btw : What happened to all Asian employees ? Even the chef isn’t Asian.

Disclaimer: I went to this restaurant at the end of the day, about an hour and a half before closing on a Monday. So I'm not going to judge too harshly. I really enjoyed the vibe. I kept thinking I was in a movie in the 80s. Which is great. The service was great. I'd like to try another dish before I make a final judgment. Because the chicken fried rice and dumplings were super good. My BBQ beef was a little "bony." What can I say? I'd still recommend it, though. Also, it wasn't super expensive for what you got!

I'm thinking about going again now that I am writing the review. Food is 'calm' and hearty. We've ordered the medium sized vegetarian noodle soup, the size is HUGE, enough for two people, the noodles are chewy and delicious. For a very long time, gluten in a dish did not upset me I don't know why, my stomach was happy for the rest of the day too! Once you try it, you feel a pat on your back, like everything is going to be okay, flavor is just enough, I wouldn't recommend this dish for people who want a spiced up dish with mixed flavors though.

Nouilles de Lan Zhou delivers every time.
The hand-pulled noodles are perfectly chewy, the broth is rich and flavorful, and the portions are generous.
You can watch the noodles being made fresh right in front of you, such a cool touch.
Fast service, great prices, and seriously satisfying.
A must-try if you love noodles!

Noodles were tasty! We Tried #3 with the beef ramen and #4 with the minced pork dish. Great service, fast even tho there is a lineup outside. Would recommend giving this place a try
Melis k. - a week ago
This place always has a lineup for a reason, they really provide an awesome traditional meal. The ‘large’ size portion is 100% too much for 1 person, it can feed 2 to 3 people. Either share a large portion or get a small or medium. Also with the different types of noodles, the ‘thinner’ ones are probably a better pick. The place gets a little less busy at around 4 pm ish.
Mike Ambacher - in the last week
An absolute must try.
The classics are the soup noodles and the Dan dan. I love the jajianmeon too.
It gets super busy but they renovated and have a bigger space now. Also new bathrooms which are very clean.
You can choose your noodle shape.
It’s very delicious and I strongly recommend.
Very fair price - you will be full!!!
Always lineups but trust me, worth the wait. Or go early before opening or later at night.
Casual vibe.
