Delicious dinner for our anniversary! Our standouts were the oysters, trout, duck, and kiwi dessert! The scallops dish was also very good although 2 of the smaller scallops were a bit overcooked. Nonetheless, we had an amazing first tiem at Bouillon Bilk and the service was excellent 😊

Great restaurant! My partner and I went here for the 5 course tasting menu and I can honestly say it is some of the best food I have ever had!
You can tell the chefs really put a lot of thought into the composition of the dishes and the order in which you eat them. All the flavours and aromas blend together seamlessly and the quality of the ingredients could be tasted.
My one slight criticism is that the restaurant itself is not as interesting as the menu. It’s just a basic dining hall with simple tables and a simple modern setup. However, definitely don’t miss out on the food just because of this!
The servers were also so on top of it. We never poured ourselves wine from our bottle once. They were always attending to us and explaining each dish.
Highly recommend!

A bit chamouflage on the outside, inside its a lovely restaurant with nice lights hanging from an atrium ceiling and soft light at table level. The food is layered and well thought out. Tasting menu definitely worth it. Terrific wine list too. The staff were very accommodating to suit individual preferences.

The chef works on the fusion style. Just the chocolate dessert with the mushrooms kinda ruins the happy ending in my opinion. Would like to try the next one for sure. 5 course tasting is enough for a normal meal.

I’ve been there 5 times, their old location and the new one. Always excellent, they favor ingredients from the province of Quebec… and it’s wonderful, as the province has an amazing selection of great products. Their course menus are both inventive and festive. Great wine list, better than many 1 or 2 stars Michelin restaurants, very good service and sommelier - overall a wonderful experience , well priced.

A quaint spot on Sainte Catherine. A bit gritty, ok for a quick meal if you crave a bowl of pho, not the most memorable, just a one off. The portion is slightly smaller than average pho bowls but prices are less, accordingly. The menu has lots of other dishes including dessert. Good location, convenient for patrons staying at one of many hotels one street over on Rene Levesque. Like most food places in Montreal it only opens at 11am onwards. No breakfast hours.

Quick service, I recommend the beef with vegetables. I did not like the porc from the porc and vermicelli dish, it was dry. Huge menu with many options.

We passed in front of this restaurant quite a few times as we live nearby. we were looking for something different to eat so we decided to give it a try. Actually Lia had already been with some colleagues from her previous employment.
The interior decor is quite simple, the menu heavily favours combo options . We decided to go with the crispy chicken and rice as well as the pho. Service was OK. We kind of wish that we felt more welcome.
Accessing the restaurant by foot is quite easy. Parking is a different story. if you’re lucky you may find street parking on Saint Catherine St. otherwise there are a few parking lots available in the area.

I was highly impressed with the quality of the food. The vietnamese pork chop with white rice was pretty good. The runny fried egg really adds this authentic feel to it. The fried banana was just ok. The service was a little bit slow as the place was packed with customers going in and out at a good pace.

Some of the best Pho I've had in Montreal in a family-style restaurant. Service is excellent, courteous and fast. Appetizers are small, bite-sized, perfect while waiting for your massive soup without wasting your appetite. The Phō broth was not outstanding but good, complex and balanced. The meat toppings were well prepared, I'd recommend the raw beef which was particularly good. I can't believe I ordered desert after all this food, but I didn't regrets it that banana donut was delicious! The neighborhood is not great, but the food is good and the service is great. Would recommend!

I have been looking forward to go back since Covid, as it remained close and only started to be open for 3 days a week recently.
We had the 7 Beef course set meal and it was better than I remembered. Given the price went up, but generally dining out got expensive due to many factors.
If you have not try their specialties 7 beef courses meal, it is a must try next time you come here!!

It was such an amazing experience to try the 7 course beef, $90/2 persons. We also ordered the grilled calamari, the side sauce was super spicy 🥵

It's a downtown delight that not only offers a stellar service and chic ambience but also surprises with its reasonable prices. The attentive staff, sporting smiles, made us feel truly welcome. The sommelier ensured our glasses were never empty. The seafood stir fry served on trendy dinnerware was spot on. We loved the stylish, softly lit vibe - it was the perfect backdrop for an intimate evening. It's the perfect spot to enjoy an early dinner before heading to an event in the vicinity.

It’s more than amazing to enjoy such authentic Vietnamese gourmet meal.
We had 7 beef courses , anchovy sauce plus fried squid, with a sweet ending of fried banana & chocolate tartufo. Having stellar service, warm family ambience in a modern design restaurant.
We enjoyed a lot and definitely will visit again. My pocket-list and is my favorite recommendation !

Couldn't recommend it more. Beautiful restaurant serving amazing, authentic food and run by a kind Vietnamese family. A great place to expand your experience with Vietnamese cuisine - try the 7 beef specialty and the chao tom, grilled shrimp wrapped around sugarcane. Everything was super fresh, the meats were cooked perfectly and the flavour was to die for. The traditional components of the dishes e.g. fish sauce and bun (vermicelli) were spot on, while they also put their own stamp on other components. Very reasonable for the quality and level of service.

Don't be fooled by the name "theatre", it's mainly a cafe during the day and is an excellent place to laptop. If you're roaming in this part of town, this is the best cafe you will find. If you compare it with other cafes across Montreal, it is unique in its association with theatre, mainly improv, which keeps the good vibes flowing. Friendly staff, good lunch food options and coffee.

I took in the improv night with my friend who uses a wheelchair. It was a lot of fun, they have a ramp ready for the main entrance and made every accommodation to make us feel welcome.
It's a real gem of a venue with great staff and a fun community.

I was actually going for dinner and passing my this place and found this vibrant place! I stopped by as was curious to find out about this place and understood that there’s a improv play in the next 10 mins. I seemed interesting and decided to stay back( cancelled dinner plans) and must say it was fun experience! The improv artists were amazing with great acting( improv) ..I got to meet some artists( who do this part time/ hobby) and very humble and talented bunch of people.. Cafe was nice too with good options and some great cocktails too..
Highly recommended to visit for the overall package - plays/ performances/people and cafe.. excellent vibes ..

Amazing place for your first "steamies" experience. This place has been a staple of downtown Montréal since 1912 and has a lot of history. Would recommend, they were delicious!! "Loaded" is the only way to go!!

Best 3am poutine and hot dog steamé in Montréal after a good night of drinking. Great staff, and delicious poutine!

So when I came to visit Montreal from Alberta, this was the place I was told to come and have steamer and poutine. Best experience ever. Yes I know it’s a hotdog and french fries with gravy and cheese but holy man do they ever do a great job and the atmosphere hashistory? It’s a great little stop for a quick bite to eat. Thank you for my amazing Montreal poutine experience.

Poutine - really good. perfect on the curds and gravy (has a bit of kick which I liked) but fries are bigger than what I would like. Much better than what I’ve had so def recommend.
Steamies were disappointing - dogs were small and toppings lacked flavour.
Lacks atmosphere - very bland and not clean. Quick in and out.
Kartiki Bhatnagar - 3 months ago
The poutine was delectable, gravy and cheesy sauce over fresh, thick cuts of just-fried fries. Patient staff, well-managed (especially to the clueless tourists in front of me). Poutines and fries come in small and large sizes: shareable. Popular with locals and us foreigners. Burgers and hot dogs a staple too. Fun, casual, bus your own tray. Nice spot on the epic Saint Laurent Avenue.

We had a pleasant experience overall. The white wine was nice, and the portions were impressively large. The food itself was fresh and absolutely incredible — definitely the highlight of the night.
That said, there were a few things that could be improved. Our waitress disappeared for about 10–15 minutes to chat with friends, and it took around 25–30 minutes before anyone took our order. Thankfully, we weren't in a rush, so it didn’t ruin the experience.
The layout could also use some work — tables felt randomly placed, and the restroom was located all the way down a long hallway, quite far from the main dining area.
Still, the food made up for it, and I’d come back for the taste alone. ❤️❤️

Have only been in Montreal 4 days but eating out every day and to be honest til this restaurant have been disappointed by bland offerings, especially the vegetarian options. However the meal we had here was great. Delicious fresh salads with tasty dressing and penne with ricotta and Gorgonzola was super tasty. Portion size is also generous and the staff, though very overworked when we were there, are friendly and helpful. They could do with one more waiting on staff. Other than that, great food that is highly recommend.

Got this late night with uber eats and warning others not to waste their money. All food was basically leftovers. Only thing fresh was the salad. The meat was minced because it was all leftover. The potatoes cold and hard. The pilaf was very old and hard and dry. The extra chicken pictured was about 2.5 ounces of nothing. Do not order after 10pm from here.
Benny Sanchez - 2 months ago
I ordered the crispy mixed shawarma bowl and it was solid overall. The chicken & beef had good flavor with some crispy bits, the potatoes were filling, and the sauces were generous and creamy. The bowl is definitely meat-and-carb forward, so it can feel a bit heavy, but everything tastes good together once mixed. A reliable choice when you want something filling and comforting.
Mikail - 2 months ago
It would be a 5 star if they got the order right every time. Great Lebanese food, it's nearly as good as before Boustan became a chain. Located perfectly in downtown Montreal this place is great for a quick filling delicious meal. A bit on the pricey side considering but worth it flavor wise.
Make sure to get the garlic sauce with your potatoes, it's great!

Food was okay. But for 45 dollars after tip, I should have gone to Harvey's. 1 trio and a chicken burger shouldn't be this pricy. The breaded chicken for the chicken burger was so thin. It looked like it was bought from the frozen section of a grocery store. I do approve of their french fries. It's crispy and well fried. Their cheeseburger was nothing special. For the atmosphere, we had several house flies buzzing about.
Rayray - a year ago
The fries tasted bad in my opinion. Gravy was quite flavourless. But the cheese curds were soooo good and good amount. We got the Bacon Mac and Cheese - bacon was great and the mac and cheese bites were fun but didn’t have much flavour either. Price was quite high for the amount of food

Food court atmosphere with quick service. Card only, efficient service, but not in the super friendly range but no complaints. Petite size is filling. We tried Bacon and Smoked meats poutine. Both were good, not the best though. Good place to stop with a group who want different things.

By far one of the best hidden gems. The chef was so kind and made our experience one to remember. He was able to cater to our specific needs and wants. As new comers to Indian food, the chef and his colleague made sure we were comfortable and enjoyed every bite. I would recommend this place to anyone

My friends and I love to try a new restaurant each month, and we chose Darbar as our pick for October. Let me tell you it didn't disappoint.
Not only did each dish surpass our expectations, it was so nice to hear the back stories of each dish from Chef Simar himself. And the ambiance was absolutely delicious! And the cutie photo of his parents on the take-out box, so wholesome.
We ordered:
- Murgh Tikka Masala
- Murgh Tandoori
- Agneau Nihari
- Crevette Korma
- Saag Paneer
- Garlic Naan
- Riz pulao
- Samosay Pakoray
- Murgh Malai
- Gulab Jamuun
- Rasmalai
- 2x bottles of white wine
Total was $64 per person, for 5 ppl!

We had an incredible plant-based Indian feast at @darbarmtl restaurant last Sunday with my foodies group. This place is a true gem 😍
Service was warm and attentive; The decor was beautiful.
Everyone in our group was impressed at Chef Simar's ability to adapt practically any thing we chose from the menu and created the most delicious vegan versions of traditional Indian dishes. It's refreshing to see a chef who's passionate about his creations, and exhibits such openness and flexibility to adapt his menu for plant-based customers.🌱💚
Can't wait to go back for more amazing food!

Best Pizza. Best Pasta, Best warm restaurant ambience and atmosphere in Montreal. Must come and enjoy . The owner and staff is amazing.
Leopoldo Partidas - 3 months ago
My husband and I recently visited this restaurant and, while the service was good, the food left a lot to be desired. We ordered the Parmigiana meal and a pepperoni pizza, but unfortunately, neither dish impressed us. The portions were generous, but the quality didn’t match. The pizza was just average—nothing particularly memorable. The Parmigiana however, was quite disappointing. It was extremely thin, greasy, and lacked the comforting, hearty texture you’d expect. I ended up eating just the pasta that came with it, which says a lot. Overall, despite the friendly service, the food simply didn’t deliver, and I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant based on our experience.

Sunday, August 17, Montreal feels like autumn already at just 17°C. The perfect excuse to warm up at Da Giovanni, a true local institution since 1954. Known for its generous pasta plates and no-frills pizzas, this Sainte-Catherine Street spot has long been a go-to for families, students, and anyone craving old-school Italian comfort. Today’s choice: spaghetti covered in their classic tomato sauce, topped with a giant meatball. Simple, hearty, and exactly what the chilly day calls for.
