An outstanding dining experience at Bouillon Bilk. The service was exceptional, the food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the ambience was refined and inviting. Each dish was carefully explained, which added to our appreciation of the meal and made the experience even more enjoyable. The linguine was flavourful, although I found it a little saltier than my personal preference — that may simply be my palate, as I am not used to heavily salted dishes. Overall, the quality, creativity, and attention to detail were excellent. A wonderful restaurant and a memorable dining experience in Montreal. Highly recommended.

8-course tasting was delicious start to end, no misses. The beef tartare was a big surprise for me and my husband. The addition of clam and kimchi really made that memorable. The duck, will be dreaming of it, love the addition of rhubarb, oh and that duck wonton! The crab, the white asparagus - such great flavor pairings on the plate. Highly recommend!

The service is amazing and very attentive.. cutlery are changed after every course, that's something you find see in many places these days. Food presentation was great, every course looks like an art piece and tasted perfectly balanced. Definitely a place to check out in Montreal.

Ate at the bar for the tasting menu as a solo diner. Inconsistent is the best word for this place. Each dish either impressed or disappointed. Stand outs was the pasta, but duck was chewy and the fat undercooked. Desserts were one note. I chose the discovery wine pairings and the somm pouring the wine was dispassionate and disengaged. They require a physical card and not tap phone wallet for purchases over $250, which is ridiculous because a tasting will surpass that amount. As a tourist in another country I find it safer to not bring physical cards with me. So they had to do two transactions…it wasn’t that they had to do that, it’s that it goes to show Bouillon Bilk doesn’t think about the experience. I recommend finding somewhere else.

Still my favorite fine dining restaurant in Montreal. The food, service, and atmosphere are always exceptional, which is why we keep coming back for anniversaries and birthdays. One dessert in particular has stayed in my memory for years: the lavender dessert I had during my first visit to Bouillon Bilk (photo attached at the end). It was one of the most elegant and unforgettable desserts I’ve ever had, delicate, smooth, creative, and genuinely surprising in the best way. I still think about it today, and I truly hope the chef remembers this masterpiece and might consider bringing it back to the menu someday. It would be such a joy to experience it again.

To be honest, nothing really stood out. The food was okay, but not memorable enough to make me want to come back. The customer service was also quite minimal — not bad, but not welcoming either. What disappointed me the most was the portion of meat. I ordered the curry chicken with rice and vegetables, as well as the fried noodles with chicken and shrimp. Both dishes came with very little protein — only about 3 pieces of shrimp, and the chicken portion was also quite small. It felt like we were mostly paying for vegetables rather than the main ingredients. I’ve been to other Vietnamese restaurants, and for a similar price, you can definitely get better portions and more satisfying plates elsewhere. Overall, it’s not terrible, but there’s nothing that would make me return.

Pleasantly surprised and highly recommend. Got a large Pho Dac Biet and it was LARGE, the broth was light and rich (give it an 8/10), ingredients were fresh, generous portion of meat for a decent price. The staff was kind and helpful, and service was quick even at peak hours. Won't disappoint a pho lover

A quaint spot on Sainte Catherine. A bit gritty, ok for a quick meal if you crave a bowl of pho, not the most memorable, just a one off. The portion is slightly smaller than average pho bowls but prices are less, accordingly. The menu has lots of other dishes including dessert. Good location, convenient for patrons staying at one of many hotels one street over on Rene Levesque. Like most food places in Montreal it only opens at 11am onwards. No breakfast hours.

I cannot believe I did not try this place before. The owner is such a good host. Second generation. Passionate.Food is perfect. Freshness , quality, taste. Everything was excellent. It felt like in Vietnam. Now my favorite Vietnam in Montreal. Good atmosphere too. I strongly recommend.

We will definitely be coming back. The entire experience from start to end was great. The staff is all so kind and helpful. The food was so fresh and delicious. You can tell they take great pride in what they offer. We had the two person tasting menu with beef congee and beef rolls. It was the perfect portion size for two women to feel completely satiated and not over stuffed. We will be back for the 7 course tasting menu!! Thank you so much!!

I have been looking forward to go back since Covid, as it remained close and only started to be open for 3 days a week recently. We had the 7 Beef course set meal and it was better than I remembered. Given the price went up, but generally dining out got expensive due to many factors. If you have not try their specialties 7 beef courses meal, it is a must try next time you come here!!

It's a downtown delight that not only offers a stellar service and chic ambience but also surprises with its reasonable prices. The attentive staff, sporting smiles, made us feel truly welcome. The sommelier ensured our glasses were never empty. The seafood stir fry served on trendy dinnerware was spot on. We loved the stylish, softly lit vibe - it was the perfect backdrop for an intimate evening. It's the perfect spot to enjoy an early dinner before heading to an event in the vicinity.

I was actually going for dinner and passing my this place and found this vibrant place! I stopped by as was curious to find out about this place and understood that there’s a improv play in the next 10 mins. I seemed interesting and decided to stay back( cancelled dinner plans) and must say it was fun experience! The improv artists were amazing with great acting( improv) ..I got to meet some artists( who do this part time/ hobby) and very humble and talented bunch of people.. Cafe was nice too with good options and some great cocktails too.. Highly recommended to visit for the overall package - plays/ performances/people and cafe.. excellent vibes ..

Great banana bread TERRIBLE coffee. I work at UQAM and sometimes come here if I don’t have time to walk over to Cafe Leo. It’s a cute place with lots of tables. Service is always very friendly. The banana bread is fantastic and moist! But then coffeee is dreadful. If you’re next to a Van Houtte you need to be at least at a bare minimum better than that. I ordered a Cortado today. I have no idea how the espresso was made but it was very bitter. For some reason the barista steamed 300ml of milk to make one Cortado which is odd and poured the milk from the side of the pitcher so it was just foam. Very unusual for a Cortado. Anyway it’s a very cute place but need to upgrade their coffee set up and barista training to make sure it makes sense to go there!

I took in the improv night with my friend who uses a wheelchair. It was a lot of fun, they have a ramp ready for the main entrance and made every accommodation to make us feel welcome. It's a real gem of a venue with great staff and a fun community.

I tried this place for the first time upon being recommended by a friend who greq up in Montreal, to try their Steamie hotdog, and boy did I love it. A place in the heart of the city, yet maintaining its originality since this place is over a 100 years old. One must try their all dressed Steamie, for you'll definitely love it.

This old school joint has been a Montreal institution since 1912. After getting no sleep trying to make a 7 AM flight and siteseeing all day I was starving. The first thing I ate in Montreal was their delicious poutine. Maybe it was because I was tired and starving but that was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Perfectly cooked fries over savory brown gravy topped with squeaky cheese, it was heavenly. I wish I could say the same about the hot dogs. Everything else was good except the dog itself. They tasted like Oscar Meyer dogs frankly so I would avoid them. Service was quick and there's ample seating. This is a cash only establishment so hit up the ATM before you come.

If ya hafta ask....ya don't know....BUT YOU SHOULD!!!!! This is one of the ULTIMATE MONTREAL ICONS !!! Opened in 1912 in the former "red light district" (although still some entertainment across the street...) and FAMOUS for its STIMMY - FRITES (bien cuire SVP !!) et Orange ...steamed hot dog (order at least two), French fries and Orange Crush. Open 10:30 a.m. to 4 a.m......if you don't eat here you REALLY have NOT visited Montreal!!!! And by the way....there are NO POOL TABLES.....

Great poutine in a great establishment. The gravy is super flavourful and the fries are crispy and delicious. This restaurant has a bunch of history and proudly displays it on the walls, it’s not everyday you get poutine from a 100 year old restaurant. Overall, a great poutine for anyone searching for an authentic poutine.

Tried the poutine at Montréal Pool Room and we were blown away by how packed with flavor the gravy was rich, savory, and loaded with sweet onion notes. Simple food done extremely well. The atmosphere is divey but full of charm and character. Cash only, but there’s an ATM inside, which makes it easy. A classic spot that’s absolutely worth a stop.

We had a pleasant experience overall. The white wine was nice, and the portions were impressively large. The food itself was fresh and absolutely incredible — definitely the highlight of the night. That said, there were a few things that could be improved. Our waitress disappeared for about 10–15 minutes to chat with friends, and it took around 25–30 minutes before anyone took our order. Thankfully, we weren't in a rush, so it didn’t ruin the experience. The layout could also use some work — tables felt randomly placed, and the restroom was located all the way down a long hallway, quite far from the main dining area. Still, the food made up for it, and I’d come back for the taste alone. ❤️❤️

Looked for a restaurant with outdoor seating on a warm Montreal night, just before a concert at Place Des Arts. Was so happy we stumbled upon this place! We only had 45 mins before we had to leave and we got served our drinks, salad, and main course with plenty of time to spare. My wife had the trout with a pineapple inspired salsa and I had slow cooked beef in pepper sauce that just melted in your mouth. Food was great, service was great, and the price was great. Where can you get a "table d'hote" for 32$ these days?

Four friends and I enjoyed this restaurant during the Jazz Festival. The most noteworthy feature of this restaurant is the service. The small staff all helped with our table and provided perfect service in a most polite manner. They even accommodated us switching tables when the sun was a little too strong - yes, that request is a big pain but our server was more than happy to let us move. The meals were fantastic! I had the garden salad and Thai chicken curry. Both were full of fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. This is a great destination for anyone in the downtown near Place des Arts.

Absolutely delicious! We took the mouth-watering duck wonton, jerk chicken and bavette de boeuf. All were done to perfection and filled with flavour. We also tried the three desserts and did not regret it! Friendly staff and lovely atmosphere.

I arrived in Montreal late afternoon on a Monday which is not the easiest time to find food anywhere but at fast food establishment. I ordered a mixed shawarma wrap, tabouleh salad and a side of hummus. Everything was pretty tasty and served quickly. The tabouleh was different than I’ve had before, mostly parsley, barely any bulgar but it was very fresh and tasty. The meat on the shawarma was juicy and tasty. I would visit this chain again for a quick meal.

I ordered the crispy mixed shawarma bowl and it was solid overall. The chicken & beef had good flavor with some crispy bits, the potatoes were filling, and the sauces were generous and creamy. The bowl is definitely meat-and-carb forward, so it can feel a bit heavy, but everything tastes good together once mixed. A reliable choice when you want something filling and comforting.

My family and I had the double smash burgers today from their food truck at the RibFest in Pierrefonds and OMG it was the most succulent smash burgers we’ve ever eaten by far. The perfectly caramelized onions added a nice sweetness to the juicy and crispy meat patties, the bread was nicely buttered and soft and that sauce was just perfect. Will definitely try to pass by and have some more before Sunday ! FYI the staff is awesome!!! Thank you for a wonderful experience!

They run a lunch offer on a smash + fries for 10$. Unbeatable price and very tasty. I recently tried their cheesesteak sandwich, in my opinion one of the best and most authentic in town. Friendly hardworking staff 👍

Food was okay. But for 45 dollars after tip, I should have gone to Harvey's. 1 trio and a chicken burger shouldn't be this pricy. The breaded chicken for the chicken burger was so thin. It looked like it was bought from the frozen section of a grocery store. I do approve of their french fries. It's crispy and well fried. Their cheeseburger was nothing special. For the atmosphere, we had several house flies buzzing about.

Food court atmosphere with quick service. Card only, efficient service, but not in the super friendly range but no complaints. Petite size is filling. We tried Bacon and Smoked meats poutine. Both were good, not the best though. Good place to stop with a group who want different things.

Big fan of Indian food and have had a hard time finding a restaurant in Montreal that reminded me of my time living in Mumbai but after trying Darbar, I am sold ! I had heard about it from multiple people and was very happy that I finally was able to try it, worth the wait and worth the price ! The portions are generous and the blend of spices/creaminess of the sauces is just heavenly ! The owners are also incredibly sweet and even offered us some beers on the house ! Definitely worth the detour ! 10/10 food and 10/10 hospitality !🫶

Amazing food from amazing people. After living in Montreal for 10 years, this is the best Indian food (and one of the best restaurants) I’ve tried in the city. Michelin star service and food for a fraction of the price. Spices in the curries are mixed in a layered and thoughtful fashion. Naan is to die for. Let yourself be guided by the chef - who talked to every table individually and checked in multiple times during the evening. I can see myself going back every month to this magical place!

love love LOVEEEEE. first of all, the vibes, so aesthetic, so cozy, very charming and subtly refined. real candles, dimmed lights, and authentic silverware. secondly, the price point, very reasonable considering that you end up sharing a variety of dishes with a friend or a group of people. thirdly and most importantly, the food (and drinks): beyond speechless… we started off with the mango lasi and chicken skewers which took us by surprise because the flavours were out of this world, then we ordered the shahi paneer + lamb masala (with coconut milk reduction$ with rice and naan: such an appropriate and daring level of spices where the flavours just simply melt in your tongue like a symphony. highly recommend. 100/10. such a hidden gem!

Not really good. Admittedly they were understaffed. Food was OK, nothing special. Service was bad because only two people working. You cab tell it is not well run. They have a beautiful bar that they use as a service station. Dirty dishes all over it, unsightly and unorganized. Small restaurant that does not need that much room for dishes. Small menu and 2 servers should be more than adequate but they were in all over the place. They need help

My husband and I recently visited this restaurant and, while the service was good, the food left a lot to be desired. We ordered the Parmigiana meal and a pepperoni pizza, but unfortunately, neither dish impressed us. The portions were generous, but the quality didn’t match. The pizza was just average—nothing particularly memorable. The Parmigiana however, was quite disappointing. It was extremely thin, greasy, and lacked the comforting, hearty texture you’d expect. I ended up eating just the pasta that came with it, which says a lot. Overall, despite the friendly service, the food simply didn’t deliver, and I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant based on our experience.

My parents used to take me here when I was a little girl. While the food is still good, something about the atmosphere just isn’t the same since they moved. It used to feel like walking into a big family dinner, with warmth, energy, and that old-school Italian charm. I remember the cook in the windows making sauces and spaghetti for all the passersby to see! It was so unique. Now, it feels a little too polished, a little too impersonal—with the TV screens and the decor that’s just like every other restaurant. It’s lost the essence of what made it special. Another disappointment was the misleading website. The pictures show pizzas that aren’t even on the menu, which was frustrating when we sat down expecting to order something that simply wasn’t available. It left the impression that either the menu had been changed without updating the site, or the images were just for show. Don’t call it a Margherita pizza when it isn’t. Overall, if you’re just here for a meal, the food still delivers. But if you’re looking for that nostalgic Da Giovanni experience, you might leave feeling like something’s missing.
