We booked a table ahead. We were a group of three.
We all ordered the 8 course tasting menu. I also ordered the 7 discovery pairings. The 8 course tasting menu was supposed to be for people who came after 8pm but they made it available for us even though we were there quite early (5.30pm).
Absolutely loved each course! They all have rich flavors. The mushrooms were really tasty, with the right amount of crispy. Among the first five courses, scallop and quail were my favorite. For dessert, the cucumber ice cream was really refreshing. Definitely recommend! For the discovery tasting, I love the last ice cider the best. Fruity flavor but not too sweet. Perfect balance

I'm making it a mission to try out the top 100 restaurants in Canada, more specifically, the ones listed in Montréal
BOUILLON BILK was nothing less than spectacular, from start to finish
Every single plate (we did the 8 course tasting menu) was full of flavour, rich umami goodness, perfectly balanced and tapered off towards the dessert. Will certainly come back when there's an updated menu.
P.S The scallops in an Oyster reduction and xo sauce has been one of the most amazing dishes I've had in my life

Here is a very decent option if you want to try different tastes!
Their dishes offer a creative mixture of flavors for the customer to enjoy!
I ordered the Rabit Pasta and it was delicious! Pleasant combination of flavors.
Staff are very nice and professional and they explain everything to you.
They have a wide variety of wines and cocktails.
And the atmosphere is very modern and nice.

Must visit!! I did the 8 course tasting menu with the discovery wine pairings, which are all Canadian wines. The food was delicious, unique, and stunning. Each aspect was carefully thought out and not a detail overlooked. The staff was efficient, friendly, and perceptive. If you choose the tasting menu as well, be prepared to commit 2+ hours to fully enjoy the experience and don't drive. There's also a coat check, which alleviates the burden of the warming layers. I can't speak highly enough of this restaurant.
Aspen Stombaugh - 2 months ago
The food was elevated and i love the fact that you can pair the food with non-alcoholics beverage. I choose the 5 services menu with non alcoholics beverages. I had a friend that took the discovery wines pairing. The food was amazing! However the pairings weren't all successful. I love the spot too, it's great for a date night or for any special occasion. It's a really good and unique experience :)

Quick service, I recommend the beef with vegetables. I did not like the porc from the porc and vermicelli dish, it was dry. Huge menu with many options.

We passed in front of this restaurant quite a few times as we live nearby. we were looking for something different to eat so we decided to give it a try. Actually Lia had already been with some colleagues from her previous employment.
The interior decor is quite simple, the menu heavily favours combo options . We decided to go with the crispy chicken and rice as well as the pho. Service was OK. We kind of wish that we felt more welcome.
Accessing the restaurant by foot is quite easy. Parking is a different story. if you’re lucky you may find street parking on Saint Catherine St. otherwise there are a few parking lots available in the area.

I was highly impressed with the quality of the food. The vietnamese pork chop with white rice was pretty good. The runny fried egg really adds this authentic feel to it. The fried banana was just ok. The service was a little bit slow as the place was packed with customers going in and out at a good pace.

I have been looking forward to go back since Covid, as it remained close and only started to be open for 3 days a week recently.
We had the 7 Beef course set meal and it was better than I remembered. Given the price went up, but generally dining out got expensive due to many factors.
If you have not try their specialties 7 beef courses meal, it is a must try next time you come here!!

It was such an amazing experience to try the 7 course beef, $90/2 persons. We also ordered the grilled calamari, the side sauce was super spicy 🥵

It's a downtown delight that not only offers a stellar service and chic ambience but also surprises with its reasonable prices. The attentive staff, sporting smiles, made us feel truly welcome. The sommelier ensured our glasses were never empty. The seafood stir fry served on trendy dinnerware was spot on. We loved the stylish, softly lit vibe - it was the perfect backdrop for an intimate evening. It's the perfect spot to enjoy an early dinner before heading to an event in the vicinity.

Couldn't recommend it more. Beautiful restaurant serving amazing, authentic food and run by a kind Vietnamese family. A great place to expand your experience with Vietnamese cuisine - try the 7 beef specialty and the chao tom, grilled shrimp wrapped around sugarcane. Everything was super fresh, the meats were cooked perfectly and the flavour was to die for. The traditional components of the dishes e.g. fish sauce and bun (vermicelli) were spot on, while they also put their own stamp on other components. Very reasonable for the quality and level of service.

I was actually going for dinner and passing my this place and found this vibrant place! I stopped by as was curious to find out about this place and understood that there’s a improv play in the next 10 mins. I seemed interesting and decided to stay back( cancelled dinner plans) and must say it was fun experience! The improv artists were amazing with great acting( improv) ..I got to meet some artists( who do this part time/ hobby) and very humble and talented bunch of people.. Cafe was nice too with good options and some great cocktails too..
Highly recommended to visit for the overall package - plays/ performances/people and cafe.. excellent vibes ..

We spent sometime working in this cafe and it's really nice place. The coffee and breakfast sandwich is good and they have a cozy cafe in front and a great space to work in the back. They also have a stage, as other people already mentioned, that should be cool to go back to see some show.

Great fast service.
Prices were unbeatable.
Food was so dam good.
Full load dogs are delish and the poutine is killer good.
Place was clean and staff was friendly.
Neighborhood was a bit gritty but made for a better wander to the place.

Iconic place for those late night snacks. The old faithful steamed hot dog with the works, along with golden fries and a pop. It has been years. If you have the munchies and you're near the St-Laurent street area., check it out. They are open till 4 am

If you're in the area and need some good junk food this is where you go. They've been around since 1912 so they're doing something right.
3rd party delivery is fine too but it's much better very hot as soon as they make it so eat there if you can.

The food took HOURS to come...and we still had people that didn't have our food....I have no idea what happened but I think they need to train their staff a little bit more... something went completely wrong at our stay...
It was the first day of our waitress and she was so sweet and nice. She just didn't get enough training or wasn't paired with someone with experience to help her. It just felt unfair to her honestly....I felt bad for her, she did the best she could.
I would avoid this place unfortunately, but if you're reading this waitress, you didn't do anything wrong you did the best you could and don't let anyone put you down, I really blame the owner of this restaurant that really let you and us down.

We had a super tasty Christmas dinner at the Restaurant ZinZin. The Boeuf Bourguignon was so tasty and tender and the duck leg one of the best I have ever had. I liked their house wine, too. The service could not have been more polite.

I like the seating of this restaurant. Although there’s air con but the restaurant is completely open to the side walk. There are no windows. It’s like sitting in the outside enjoying the fresh air and watch the cars and people going by. It’s a popular place. Crowded. The souvlaki combo is $20 tax included. Portion is generous. Fried potatoes are crispy. Rice and meats are tasty. They put all the sauce you requested in the bowl. But we did go back to ask for some garlic sauce to dip my pita bread. The staff are accommodating. I like this better than souvlaki bar. I’ll return.

The restaurant looked very clean. The employee who took my order was kind and efficient. I waited about 10 minutes to receive my meal, which is very reasonable for such freshly made food. The portion was quite generous at a reasonable price. The location is a bit small however and not very cozy to eat there, and it is probably better to bring for take-out. Employees washed tables very fast after any use, which I appreciated a lot to see this good level of maintenance.

Got the chicken shawarma plate and it was delicious. Chicken was seasoned well and the potatoes & garlic sauce were a great combo. The hot sauce is so flavourful as well. Would come back again!

The fries tasted bad in my opinion. Gravy was quite flavourless. But the cheese curds were soooo good and good amount. We got the Bacon Mac and Cheese - bacon was great and the mac and cheese bites were fun but didn’t have much flavour either. Price was quite high for the amount of food

Food was okay. But for 45 dollars after tip, I should have gone to Harvey's. 1 trio and a chicken burger shouldn't be this pricy. The breaded chicken for the chicken burger was so thin. It looked like it was bought from the frozen section of a grocery store. I do approve of their french fries. It's crispy and well fried. Their cheeseburger was nothing special. For the atmosphere, we had several house flies buzzing about.

Food court atmosphere with quick service. Card only, efficient service, but not in the super friendly range but no complaints. Petite size is filling. We tried Bacon and Smoked meats poutine. Both were good, not the best though. Good place to stop with a group who want different things.

I had the large regular poutine to go, surprise me the scale of fries and cheese is nearly 1:1, gravy is nice! It’s perfect! Can’t wait to return and try other food in this place!

We had the most incredible meal at Darbar last night. We are on holidays from Ireland and Darbar was highly recommended to us in Toronto and it certainly lived up to our expectations and more!!
We were welcomed by Simar, the chef & owner, and he took time to chat with us about our preferences, spice, proteins etc. He went on to recommend dishes for each of us and they were all amazing. We had Lamb Saag, Shrimp Korma & Chicken Rogan Josh. The intensity of flavour in the sauces was spectacular. Simar checked back a few times to ensure everything ok with our meal. The Naan bread was really delicious and crispy too. We ordered cocktails and they were unusual and fantastic in equal measure!! A few Cobras with our meal and the 3 of us were full and satisfied!!
Thanks to our waiter Prée who was very friendly, warm & helpful.
Overall we had a fantastic experience at Darbar. It was the best Indian meal we've eaten and the whole experience was very special from start to finish.
Thanks a million Simar & team Darbar - you run a great show and you deserve all the luck in the world. 🍀

Darbar is a wonderful family-run restaurant that truly cares for its customers. You feel it in the warm hospitality and the consistently excellent food.
The entire team—both in the kitchen and at the front—was kind, attentive, and really knew what to recommend to enhance our experience.
We started with the murg malai, served in a sizzling pot—such a unique and fun presentation! The seekh kebab was beautifully plated, and both dishes were absolutely delicious. The yogurt sauce with the kebabs was light and refreshing, while the spices in the murg malai built up to a deep, flavourful finish.
For our mains, we had the chicken jalfrezie and the nihari lamb. Paired with their crispy, doughy butter naan, the lamb was one of the best bites I’ve ever had. I literally had to close my eyes to take it in.
We ended with two orders of gulab jamun because my wife loved the first so much—she said it tasted just like her grandmother’s, and we couldn’t leave without having another.

Hidden gem. Food and service is fantastic! We always make time for Darbar when in Montreal. Just go, you won't be disappointed.

Darbar exceeded all our expectations! We ordered the Murgh Malai, Tandoori Fish, and Chole Bhature, and each dish was a masterpiece. The Murgh Malai was incredibly tender and flavorful, the Tandoori Fish had the perfect smoky char, and the Chole Bhature was a delightful explosion of spice and texture.
We paired our meal with two cocktails: a Whiskey Sour with an Indian twist and the Lahore Express, a litchi-infused drink. Both were unique and expertly crafted, complementing the meal perfectly.
What truly elevated the experience was the exceptional service. The head chef was warm and engaging, taking the time to discuss our preferred spice levels and even offering to prepare dishes off the menu to suit our preferences. It's rare to find such genuine hospitality, and it left us feeling truly cared for. We can't wait to return!

I was deeply impressed with this restaurant’s warmth, hospitality and delicious dishes. My husband and I recently visited this restaurant and, while the service was good, the food left a lot to be desired. We ordered the Parmigiana meal and a pepperoni pizza, but unfortunately, neither dish impressed us. The portions were generous, but the quality didn’t match. The pizza was just average—nothing particularly memorable. The Parmigiana however, was quite disappointing. It was extremely thin, greasy, and lacked the comforting, hearty texture you’d expect. I ended up eating just the pasta that came with it, which says a lot. Overall, despite the friendly service, the food simply didn’t deliver, and I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant based on our experience.
Indira Sampaio - 3 months ago
My parents used to take me here when I was a little girl. While the food is still good, something about the atmosphere just isn’t the same since they moved. It used to feel like walking into a big family dinner, with warmth, energy, and that old-school Italian charm. I remember the cook in the windows making sauces and spaghetti for all the passersby to see! It was so unique. Now, it feels a little too polished, a little too impersonal—with the TV screens and the decor that’s just like every other restaurant. It’s lost the essence of what made it special.
Another disappointment was the misleading website. The pictures show pizzas that aren’t even on the menu, which was frustrating when we sat down expecting to order something that simply wasn’t available. It left the impression that either the menu had been changed without updating the site, or the images were just for show. Don’t call it a Margherita pizza when it isn’t.
Overall, if you’re just here for a meal, the food still delivers. But if you’re looking for that nostalgic Da Giovanni experience, you might leave feeling like something’s missing.

Got the Pizza-ghetti because it seemed like a fun, whimsical dish. However the pizza tasted like school cafeteria food and the pasta sauce was okay. Service was also pretty slow for how empty the place was at the time.
