I love this restaurant and the atmosphere was pumping and it just had a great vibe and the food was so good. I started with a French onion soup and the broth was so rich and tasty. The soup was just delicious. Of course they had other things on the menu, but I went for the strip steak with fries and green beans. I did have the peppercorn sauce, which was just phenomenal and ended up having to order another pot of it to dip my fries into. The steak was cooked just right and was really really tasty despite eating so much. I did have a dessert which was good also. Great place for a bit of steak!!

We went on the Valentine’s Day. It was very crowded, we literally ordered the most expensive steak of the menu and a New York, New York was OK and the other one was not good at all, our service was ok but not that great neither. In general it’s ok to visit but not that great!

We reserve our seats for 3 for dinner on a Saturday and were impressed with the swiftness we were looked after. We were reminded that it was a BYOB, which was a very nice touch. I got a msg on my phone, seconds after that our table was reserved.
While we brought our own bottle, the waitress opened our bottle and we poured our own wine from start to finish.
Atmosphere was casual, somewhat loud but not unpleasant.
Service was fast with our waitress being OK. Just the very bare minimum.
Appetizers were snail with garlic/cheese and a deep fried goat cheese were excellent.
New York streak and bavette de boeuf served medium rare were tender but a tad too cooked.
Overall, a good restaurant to go to from time to time, with BYOB.

The service definitely changed. No bread was offered, we needed to ask for it. This restaurant is known for “unlimited fries” no one goes around and offers them anymore. Also, there was a “fire alarm” to the attached building, the staff acted like nothing happened. When I played the online reservation I indicated the reason of our outing, again- the staff wasn’t bothered. Won’t be going back.

Their food, cocktails, and service are all amazing. The presentation of the dishes is so beautiful. Definitely a great fine-dining experience to try when visiting Montreal.

An exceptional lunch that showcases both finesse and flavor with decent price.
The halibut dish is a refreshing masterpiece—delicate, lightly cured fish topped with airy foam and surrounded by vibrant berries, herbs, and a bright consommé. It’s light yet layered.
The beef course is equally outstanding, with perfectly medium-rare slices melting in the mouth, complemented by earthy mushrooms, charred greens, and silky potato purée. The rich just ties it all together.
Both plates are artful, balanced, and deeply satisfying, celebrating texture, seasonality, and precision. Every element felt intentional and elevated—two standout dishes that left a lasting impression. I absolutely loved them.

Excellent service from the moment I walked in, but unfortunately, the food did not impress me at all. I visited this restaurant because I heard the experience would cost a thousand dollars in the States. Since I went for lunch, it wasn’t a course menu. All mains included one appetizer and coffee, priced at $49–53 CAD, which is a very good deal for fine dining menu.
They have quite a good wine collection, and many table customers opened bottles. They also offer half glasses of wine, priced at around $10 CAD each.
For my meal, I had foie gras as an appetizer and duck leg as the main course. Both dishes were heavy, overly sweet, and salty. While the duck skin was crispy, the meat was dry, and I couldn’t understand the purpose of the bread placed between the mushrooms and sauce.
My server, Phill, was efficient and well-organized. He handled customer questions about the wine selection quickly and knowledgeably.
The post-meal coffee, however, was machine-made, a bit watery, and took over ten minutes to make.
In summary, the service and ambiance were excellent, but the food was underwhelming.

Really enjoyable tasting menus. They were happy to accommodate not just dietary restrictions but also preferences. I’m not a huge fan of mushrooms due to the texture of them sometimes so when I said that, they were happy to adjust my plates accordingly. 10 likes and I’ll say what the picture was.

Took my bestfriend out to dinner and had a great time. the place is beautiful and the service is old school style always adds an extra touch of care, you get to pick out your steak knife, warm towels & pickles & coleslaw to start included. We got the caesar salad to start which was good but needed more dressing and more lemon. We both got new york striploins, cooked perfectly and was a nice big piece. The lobster mac and cheese was my favourite though, it was insane. I’d return.

Moishes delivers on all fronts; great food, excellent service, and a prime location. The valet service is a nice touch, and the bar area is stylish and comfortable. A solid spot for a classic steakhouse experience.

Ambiance, service, and food—everything is on point. It’s pricey but worth it. The attention to detail is impressive, from the presentation to small touches like the carefully chosen knife colors. The complimentary salad and pickles add to the experience, making it feel like a true premium steakhouse.

Moishes is a top-tier steakhouse that truly delivers on quality and experience. From the warm, inviting ambiance to the impeccable service, everything feels refined yet welcoming. The menu offers a great selection, with perfectly cooked steaks that are rich, flavorful, and expertly charred. The sides, like creamy mashed potatoes and sautéed mushrooms, complement the dishes beautifully. The starters, including fresh coleslaw and warm bread, set the tone for an excellent meal. Pair it with a great wine, and you’re in for a memorable dining experience. A must-visit for any steak lover in Montreal!

Five guys is amazing finally I had the opportunity to try it.
The burgers are absolutely amazing—juicy, flavorful, and fully customizable with a huge variety of toppings. The fresh, toasted buns hold everything together perfectly, and the patties are always cooked to perfection. And let’s talk about the fries—crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
It’s a must try

Fast food but with fresh ingredients. The cheese melts effortlessly, the burger is juicy, caramelized onions, and JALAPEÑOS!!! Be ready to drain your bank account because it is indeed expensive. Other than that, 8/10

My recent visit to Five Guys McGill Street left me with mixed feelings! 🍔🍟🥤 The highlight of the meal was their delightful fries and lip-smacking milkshakes, which truly lived up to the restaurant's reputation. However, I have to say that the veggie burger I ordered was quite underwhelming. 😕
Let's start with the positives—the fries were outstanding! 🍟 Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, they were the perfect sidekick to our meal. And oh, those milkshakes! 🥤🤤 Creamy, rich, and full of flavor, they were simply divine. Five Guys definitely knows how to create mouthwatering sides and treats!
Now, onto the not-so-great parts. My friend and I were taken aback by the prices. 💸 While we expected to pay a bit more for quality, we both felt that it was a tad too expensive for a casual burger joint. The veggie burger, unfortunately, was the biggest disappointment. 😔 It lacked the bold flavors we were hoping for and turned out to be quite bland.
One thing I have to mention is the A1 sauce, and it's a big no-no. 🚫 We decided to try it, thinking it would add some zing to the burger, but it was far from enjoyable. The taste was off, and it didn't complement the meal at all.
On a positive note, the restaurant's atmosphere was inviting with an American-style burger joint vibe. 🍔🇺🇸 The ambiance was lively, and the staff was friendly and efficient, making the dining experience pleasant overall.
While the quality of the ingredients used in the burgers was good, I couldn't help but feel that the overall pricing didn't quite match what was offered. It's essential to strike a balance between taste, portion sizes, and pricing, which, in this case, seemed a bit skewed.
Five Guys McGill Street excels in certain aspects, such as their delicious fries and mouthwatering milkshakes, as well as providing a vibrant and upbeat atmosphere. However, the veggie burger's lackluster flavor and the higher price point were notable downsides. For those who crave a true American-style burger experience, it might still be worth a visit, but for me and my friend, we left feeling slightly underwhelmed. 🤷♂️🤷♀️

It’s a good concept for a balanced and affordable lunch. Food was ok, it gets crowded but still able to find a seat.
My issue is with the cashier. Something that can be so straightforward but a big fuss was made and it’s humiliating. After paying at the woman cashier, I proceeded to bring my food back to my seat. When I went to pick up the cutlery, she accused me of not paying JUST after she took my payment. It was audible enough to get looks from people. When I produced the receipt to her that I had on hand, she further insisted that that doesn’t count as payment (?!?) and insisted to see the credit card receipt. Fortunately for this case I took it, because most of the time who would keep that slip? Only upon producing that would she back down.
I can’t help if one is forgetful after taking my payment, but the humiliation and to single me out is unacceptable.

Enjoy steak and free beer every Friday for only 16$ all in. This was before the pandemic.
2023-09-27
But the price has not changed much since. Now, it's only 16.50$+tx for the same filet mignon and beer included.
Please don't forget to add a tip$: think about people who clean your table, dishes and to keep this place nice and clean.
Need an ice cream cone?
2024-09
Now is 23$+ for the same steak.

We had a decent experience at this restaurant, but there were some ups and downs. When we were seated, it took over 15 minutes for us to be served water, which was a bit too long, especially since we were quite thirsty. However, once I was able to get the waitress’s attention, she was very kind and polite, and from that point on, the service was good.
The cocktails were a highlight—delicious and well-made. Our entrées were also enjoyable. However, the main course was underwhelming. I ordered the Pineapple General Tao, but to my surprise, there was no actual pineapple in the dish. For an Asian fusion restaurant, I expected better execution, and honestly, I prefer the stir-fry pineapple dish from Thai Express over what I had here. It just didn’t meet expectations, and I didn’t feel compelled to take my leftovers home.
One thing I really appreciated was the music volume—it was lower than in many other restaurants I’ve been to, which made it easy to have a conversation without having to raise our voices.
Overall, I’d rate my experience a 3.5 out of 5. There were some great aspects, but there’s definitely room for improvement, particularly with the speed of service at the start and the quality of the main dishes.

Tastefully decorated and interesting menu to choose from . We were served by the kind and attentionnés Rémy from Montpellier France. We arrived late after a Christmas concert and they graciously attended to us . Although we very much loved the food , it was not served hot enough . We had them reheat everything . The rice was cold . With rapid reactions , we got our food back quickly reheated . That was my only complaint . Please serve all food hot ! The flavors were lovely and the best general Tao with a light breading so you actually eat chicken not fried breading for a change from most other restaurants . The beef was tender, the steamed dumplings ,made in house and delicious . Their dim sum sauce is really good. Thai coconut and Tom yum soup great . I would choose a different rice , it is hard and ruins the quality of the rest . We ate a black sesame ice cream which I’ve never experienced before . Original and I really liked it . We will be back sometime but please improve the rice and your wine list . A good Chardonnay is welcomed . The same was very good as well.

Friday evening between 4 and 5 pm, there is practically no one. The ambiance was pretty fun. Cool music playing, lights are dimmed. It's really cozy. I went with my 12 year old daughter. She really enjoyed it. We only took appetizers, and it was plenty for us. The dumplings tasting platter is so delicious. The calmar and the tempura shrimp were really good, too. Rania was an amazing waitress. She was really attentive and very helpful.

Amazing food. Super tasty! Cozy atmosphere, lovely place. The service was also great. We ordered that tasting menu for two and, when we told them that we brought them one wrong plate, they immediately told the kitchen and in five minutes we had the right one on the table. Kids friendly too and great service with accommodating allergies. Totally recommend!

Great spot to grab a quick, healthy, and satisfying bite.
Had a simple tuna wrap with swiss cheese, which was exactly what I needed. Quick friendly service who catered to our English speaking crowd with polite kindness.
The beet side salad was equally welcome, and a small portion with the wrap was just the right amount!

Stopped by here on a cold Thursday evening in late March for some takeout. Ordered 2 dishes (sesame chicken & orange beef) from Mrs. Ma. Waited in the foyer and she was quite gracious & lovely chatting with me the entire time I waited for my food (about 10mins). I restaurant looks to be warm & cozy and would love to dine in here sometime. I believe they've been here for many, many years, which I love that history. When I brought my food home, it was still warm & delicious. Very authentic, flavorful Szechuan cuisine. I HIGHLY recommend!

Most of the food was really really good. I loved the Mongolian beef, the sauteed mixed vegetables, the pan-fried noodles with chicken and vegetable and the general tao (although very spicy). The general tao was actual thick pieces of chicken and the breading was crispy and not too thick. The Mongolian beef is not like PF Chang's Mongolian beef, but it's sauteed thin strips of beef with vegetables in a savory sauce. The meat quality was very good and the beef was tender and not at all tough. It was my favorite. The vegetables were crisp and tasty with a great variety (carrots, broccoli, mushrooms, baby bok choy, Chinese cauliflower, green beans and lotus root). The pan- fried noodles with chicken and vegetables had crispy noodles on top (like Chow mein) and they were still crispy when I got home even after driving 20+ min. Underneath was thinly cut bites of chicken and vegetables (the same as in the sauteed vegetables). The peanut butter dumplings were very small and a bit salty. The sauce portion was generous and it was topped with green onions. My 11 y/o son loved them, but they were just ok in my opinion. The shrimp toast was good, my husband loved it. It comes with a sweet dipping sauce. None of our dishes came with rice because we didn't order any combos, so we just made rice at home.
The people who work there seem very kind, friendly and helpful. I placed the call by phone for pickup and the gentleman on the line was nice and patient and the woman who served me when I picked up the order helped me open the door and made sure I was able to carry the bag to my car.
The only negative was that it was pretty expensive for the portion size. It cost more than my usual go-to Chinese restaurant and there's less food, but I'd still go again because the food is so good. There was also lots of paid street parking right near the restaurant. Even though it's downtown, it's on a road with mild traffic.
Positives:
Delicious food
Fresh ingredients with lots of vegetables and good quality meat
Friendly staff
Ample street parking although downtown
Negatives:
Cost
Smaller portions

Glad we could try this place when in town and certainly didn’t disappoint. Amazing soups on a rainy day ❤️ and we were accommodated despite not having a reservation. Highly recommended wonton soup, friend calamari and seafood noodles. General Tso chicken even though was the most recommended dish, it wasn’t to our liking. Service was above and beyond, very attentive and personable!

We were searching for a good steak house and, by chance, came across this place - and we are really glad we did. After a day's worth of traveling, we were certainly more casually dressed, but they found us a walk-in table, and we had an impressive meal. The bone marrow was exceptional, and the Caesar salad was good (but I tend to like mine with a little more punch). The steaks were absolutely perfect, and the sides were delicious. Service - perfection! I'd definitely go back.

My wife and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary by having dinner at Vargas. It was absolutely amazing.
My wife had the prime rib, which was done to perfection, accompanied by the garlic mashed potatoes. She absolutely enjoyed it!
I had the Beef Wellington. It was also amazing! I also had the lobster mashed potatoes, and oh my goodness, they were brilliant! We followed up our meal with the strawberry cheesecake. Wow, it too was amazing!!
Our waitress/bartender Amy was very friendly and extremely professional. She is a great conservationalist and wise beyond her years! You are very lucky to have such an amazing employee. Bravo!

I’ve been to Vargas a few times over the years and I always find the steaks to be hit or miss. It’s hard to knock a place for the steak not being tender and when I’ve told them about it they’ve always made something new. Unfortunately it’s been 4 out of the 5 times I’ve gone that someone in our group has had a bad steak. Most recently I had the prime rib which was surprisingly very tough but they replaced it with a filet and a free dessert. The crème Brûlée was probably the best I’ve ever had. I was there with my son and he got the burger. For kids they charge you 12$ which is nice but it’s the same burger on their menu minus the bacon. My son and I both agreed it’s probably the best burger I’ve ever had in my life. It was really good but it was a tad spicy so if that’s your thing you’ll love it.

I also had the Saiko rolls for my train ride back, it was also amazing. Highly recommend

I ordered a Chirashi, so delicious! The rice cooked just right. The sashimis are fresh, and the waiter explained what each of sashimis in the set. Delighted! Green tea was good as well! 😁

I discovered this sushi place by recommendation.
It was worth the try. We ordered the Nigiri Omakaze, and the chef prepared us freshly prepared Nigiri and some personalized ones not from the menu. They were some of the best that I've tasted in Montreal.
We really enjoyed this experience, and we'll definitely come back!
