The serving size was generous. Ordered Tom yum soup and Pad Kee Mao, both were incredibly delicious! Amazing halal options. And reasonably priced. Will definitely be visiting again.

We visited this fully halal Thai restaurant and had a great time. The fried rice, beef noodles, and laksa were all delicious—flavorful and comforting. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the relaxed atmosphere made the whole experience even better. A lovely spot for a satisfying meal and warm hospitality.

This Thai restaurant is absolutely delicious! Every time I come here, I always order their BBQ chicken thigh—it’s so tasty! Their soup and steamed fish are also amazing dishes 💗🌈. Plus, the staff are super friendly, and the service is fast. I highly recommend this place! 🇹🇭

First time coming here after having a walk in the city. The “BBQ chicken wontons noodle soup” 5/10 the broth doesn’t have much flavour, the chicken was not cut through enough, lots of thick soggy skin and chewy parts, couldn’t finish the whole piece. The wontons have minced chicken filling tasted kinda fishy. The “Chicken Curry” 8.5/10 so good and spicy and creamy coconut broth, mind you it’s so spicy so be careful when ordering it. The place is mall but cozy and quiet and the service is quick and great. *Halal*

It is a nice place near Paddy’s markets; the food is very delicious. I tried Crispy Chicken, Fried Duck, and Tom Yam. All of them are very yummy. It is the best place for tourists who seek halal foods around Haymarket. This restaurant also provides a prayer room—a great experience for me.

I ordered the set menu and was genuinely blown away by the value for money. For just $25, you get a large bowl of ramen (I chose the shoyu pork ramen), a rice bowl of your choice (I went with teriyaki beef), and one side (I picked the takoyaki balls).
The ramen broth was rich, authentic, and full of flavour, and the portion was generous with plenty of noodles. The teriyaki beef was tender and tasty, with soft, fragrant rice. The takoyaki balls were also delicious - gooey on the inside, and full of authentic flavour.
The staff here are incredibly kind, genuine, and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. It’s a lovely little spot tucked away in a corner of Haymarket/Chinatown.

Menya Chinatown is all about great value. For just $25, I ordered their Deluxe Ramen Set, which includes one bowl of ramen, a mini chicken rice bowl, and five pieces of gyoza. A solid choice if you’re craving variety in a single meal.
I opted for the Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen. You can choose between chicken-based or pork-bone broth, and naturally, I went with my favorite – the rich, savory tonkotsu. The thin noodles were cooked just right, and the broth was full of umami. Toppings included three slices of chashu, half a soft-boiled egg, bamboo shoots, seaweed, black fungus, and spring onions. The chashu was flavorful without being greasy – definitely a highlight.
The mini rice bowl came with shredded chicken, bonito flakes, mayo, and a whole soft-boiled egg. It had a nice homey feel, and the portion was just right for light eaters. The gyoza, while not super crispy on the outside, had a juicy filling and went well with their house-made chili oil.
A nice bonus here is the free self-serve station with pickled daikon and condiments. It’s a small touch that shows care for the customer experience.
All in all, Menya is a great go-to spot for affordable and satisfying Japanese food, especially if you’re in a hurry or just want a fulfilling meal without breaking the bank.

This place is really hidden in Chinatown! It doesn’t have the fancy interior —— 🫵🏻BUT YOU SHOULD NOT MISS IT! 🫵🏻🫵🏻🫵🏻😎😎😎😎
Prob one of the OG ramen in Sydney that you can find the most authentic ramen and Japanese cuisine with the most affordable price! Everything on the menu is $20 or less 🤩🧐 the ramen was on a slightly stronger side, which’s actually closest to the one I’ve had in Japan 🇯🇵🍜🥢 what surprised me was the Menya Curry & Tori Kara-age which the fried chicken was so crispy and juicy 🐥🍗 the curry was made with beef stock base and even got some beef inside! ✨ SO GOOD!
What I ordered: 🥢
🌟Kogashi-ninniku Ramen (Pork) $19
🌟Teriyaki Wagyu Beef Ramen $18.5
🌟Menya Curry & Tori Kara-age $16 (Small size but it wasn’t small at all 🤣
Gyoza 🥟 $9.5
Seaweed & Fresh salad 🥗 $14

This restaurant might not have a fancy interior but the food is out of the world. Everything is amazing here. The teriyaki chicken shoyu ramen is to die for and is a MUST BUY! The curry is very good too, very tasty. You can add alll these different condiments into your ramen or curry. Is the best ramen I have ever tasted! Definitely recommended for everyone. :D

An authentic Japanese ramen restaurant located in Haymarket, Menya has stood the test of time, before various ramen shops started to open in Sydney. The broth here is relatively thick and simple. Presentation isn't that great but it's acceptable. The quality of the food used to be better. In addition, as the tables are close to the open kitchen, it does get quite hot. Overall, it's not too bad, and there are some set menus for better value.

Delicious donuts and amazing service!! I come in after work and the staff are so friendly and walking in feels so welcoming. The donuts are always good and atmosphere is warm. Only thing is that the shake is a bit sweet!

The best Krispy Kream branch I have ever visited!
The decoration is so stylish and creative. Every corner in this tiny shop is perfect for taking photos.
I believe this is the big branch so they baked the donuts at the back of the shop so everything is fresh. They got all selection from meals to drinks.
There are plenty of seats to sit and relax. I will come back for dine-in for sure.

It’s a good little store that definitely prepares some of the best donuts around central.
Having had Krispy Kreme donuts from 7/11 and Coles before, I had no idea that these donuts (simply glazed) would taste this much better when made in store.
I also liked how there was a place for students to study and charge their devices near the windows. Highly recommended but also bring a set a very good noise cancelling headphones if you do plan to enjoy a bite while you study.

Sushi Hub is one of my go-to spots when I’m craving fresh, affordable Japanese food. Their salmon salad is absolutely delicious—generous slices of fresh salmon served over a bed of crunchy vegetables with a light and tangy dressing. It’s healthy, refreshing, and always hits the spot.
I also love their sushi selection. The rolls are well made, neatly packed, and full of flavor. Whether it’s salmon, tuna, or prawn, the ingredients always taste fresh, and the rice is perfectly seasoned. It’s a great option for a quick lunch or takeaway dinner.
The service is fast, and everything is always neatly presented. For the price and quality, Sushi Hub is definitely one of the best casual sushi places around. Highly recommended for sushi lovers!

Happily surprised to bite into my sushi roll (quick snack before boarding a regional train) and find it was soft (in a good way) and very fresh. I went at 11am on a Friday so of course I would expect it to be fresh but with a chain store in Central I just wasn’t sure. Five or so spots to sit and quickly eat if you buy a takeaway and are not eating at the sushi train. Free water and porcelain cups (sustainable which is good).

The salmon and avocado roll was really nice and fresh but the chicken one was a bit dry. Customer service was patient and lovely though.

Very close to UTS and convenient for brekkie on busy days! The vegetarian cucumber roll box is my go to. They also play famous Japanese songs! I just recently noticed the sushi train as I usually get takeaway, it was cute.

I was getting tired of eating Asian food and had to have some good old Australian bar food. This place did not disappoint once I figured out that you had to order from the bar and then take your number and have a seat. Everything went smoothly. The front of the bar was packed, but I was able to find a table in the back near by the kitchen. The fried chicken was delicious. when I am back in Australia I would definitely stop here again.

One of the rare gems in the Sydney CBD. Good tap beers, decent happy hour deals, and great food specials. I come here regularly to catch up with mates. It’s very conveniently located near to both light rail and train. Highly recommend the Chicken Schnitzel Boscaiola!

Givens and his hospitality team at the Great Southern catered for our function of 110 people in the dining area on the ground floor. They were very helpful with making the arrangements, especially accommodating dietary needs. The food and service were very good: not an easy thing to cater for that many people descending all at once. Thank you for making our event memorable.

A Cantonese restraint that focuses on double steamed soup, I've been visiting Steam King for many years and the quality continues to be consistent. Staff are friendly with a traditional Chinese seats and table arrangements. I quite enjoy the pigeon soup, fried rice, roasted pigeon, XO vermicelli oyster and pork ribs. The ingredients are fresh and the soup is nourishing. They recently opened a larger restaurant but this venue still has more focus on the different soup. 👍👍😋😋

The taste was okay, but it was a bit pricey. The portion sizes were small, making the cost-performance ratio rather low. Not sure if the exhaust hood was broken, but the air was quite smoky and irritating.
Alison G - 5 months ago
Had a lovely experience here. The entrance looks normal but the interior is nicely decorated with Chinese elements. The restaurant is pretty empty on Sunday night. We had the coconut fowl soup, the Budda delight soup, two fish dishes, lamb, chicken, pumpkin rice. The soup were good but the portion was small for its price. The rice didn't look very appealing but I like it. The other dishes are so so.

Loved the steamed soup, my friends loved all the dishes. However quite expensive

Came here for dinner for the first time and it was a little disappointing. Had preordered ahead of time but still took them 20mins to confirm order - definitely understaffed. The dishes in this review plus one very plain fried rice (not even with meat) came to an eye watering $550 which is exorbitant for Chinese food. I think there’s probably better places that is far cheaper.

My favourite Indonesian restaurant near haymarket! Nasi goreng lestari and fried kway teow are simply the best! Delicious and will try for more on the menu. The owner are very friendly.

This restaurant is a gem which we discovered while staying in the Chinatown area in Sydney. It is in a remote little residential area, unlike those found along the roadside but food was really good n of reasonable price. The fried kway teow and fried rice were very flavourful. My noode with roast pork was very delicious. Highly recommened.

Lestari is a hidden gem for lovers of Indonesian cuisine. Tucked away in a cozy corner, this restaurant offers an authentic taste of Indonesia right in the heart of the city. The menu features a delightful array of traditional dishes that will transport you straight to the vibrant streets of Jakarta or Bali. From the aromatic flavours to the spicy sambal, each dish is bursting with bold flavors and made with the freshest ingredients. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff create a welcoming atmosphere, making you feel like you're dining in a local Indonesian eatery. Lestari is a true culinary delight for anyone seeking an unforgettable Indonesian dining experience.

Flavourful authentic Indonesian fried rice! They have the best nasi goreng in Sydney in my opinion but their opening hours are really inconsistent. I recommend calling them first before visiting to save your time.
Valerie K - 2 years ago
Authentic Indonesian food tucked away in a quiet alley, so finding a seat is never an issue. Prices are reasonable, I got my bihun goreng for just 14.50 AUD. It's like a more relaxed, less-crowded version of the infamous 'Spice Alley' (If you are looking for a good fried rice/noodle), but with tranquility. I would like to visit again and try different food. Highly recommend!

Extremely enjoyed the night! Great service by all the staff, a mention to Jess and our chef, Niko!! We went the meat and seafood mix, enjoyed every bit of it. Fum time had also celebrating with cake, sake bomb drinks and cocktails. If you haven't done teppanyaki before, you will enjoy it here. Be prepared to get involved, have fun, and handle the hot temperature with cooking and fire right in front of you.

This is a surprisingly good place to eat. The food is awesome. Very tasty & made to your desired level of chillie hot. Very affordable. The ambiance is OK nothing outstanding but it is neat & clean. The restroom however needs urgent & tender loving attention. In the heart of Sydney's CBD, parking is difficult, however if you arrive by train to Central station it is an easy five minute walk from platform to restaurant. Friendly & helpful service. Highly recommend it.
