i had an incredible dining experience at rockpool bar & grill and it absolutely lived up to the hype.
i ordered the rangers valley dry aged rib eye on the bone (800g, 53 days) and it was genuinely one of the best steaks i’ve ever had. perfect crust, beautifully pink inside, rich flavour and amazing marbling. at $260 aud, it’s a premium cut: but absolutely worth it. easy 100/10 dish.
the starters were just as impressive.
the freshly shucked sydney rock oysters from camden haven were immaculate: cold, briny, clean, and paired perfectly with the mignonette. solid 10/10 and easily some of the freshest oysters i’ve had in sydney.
to top it off, the espresso martini was excellent:smooth, well-balanced, not too sweet, and at the price it was a great way to round out the meal. 9/10.
service was polished and the atmosphere matched the elevated dining experience. if you’re after world-class steak and premium seafood, rockpool bar & grill is a must-visit.
highly recommend. 👌-jerwin parker

We visited on Saturday the 20th to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday. The initial service was friendly, but unfortunately it declined significantly as the evening progressed. We waited over 30 minutes to order dessert, and although I mentioned it was a birthday, the cupcake was delivered only after we had finished, in a rushed manner. The staff member left quickly, so when I wanted to ask for a photo, I had to wait again as we did not have a waiter attending our table.
While the food was good, for the price paid I expected more attentive and consistent service. Overall, the experience did not meet expectations and I would not return.

It was my first time visiting a restaurant with such an elegant interior, and the atmosphere felt quite grand upon entering. The seating was spacious and clean. However, the service staff seemed a bit understaffed, so it took some time to get assistance.
For the food, the highlight for me was the Moreton Bay bug pasta — well-balanced in flavor with a pleasant seafood taste. The roasted bone marrow was rich and flavorful, though a bit heavy after a few bites. The filet steak was my favorite among the meats; very tender and full of flavor, definitely recommended.
The least impressive dish for me was the sautéed cabbage with prosciutto. The prosciutto was quite tough, and the cabbage tasted undercooked and lacked seasoning — a simple salad might have been better.
Overall, it’s a very good restaurant and a solid choice for dates or celebrations. The prices are on the higher side, but the experience is generally worth it.

An absolutely wonderful restaurant. Both the seafood and meat dishes were incredibly fresh and full of flavour. The dessert simply melted in my mouth. The setting inside a historic, grand building made the whole experience even more unforgettable. Truly a dining experience to remember.

Rock Bar & Grill offers a warm yet refined dining experience. The grilled dishes are well prepared, with tender meat and rich, well-balanced flavours. The modern atmosphere makes it suitable for both intimate dinners and casual gatherings with friends. A highlight of the evening was the excellent service, especially from Tanya, who was attentive and knowledgeable, offering great menu recommendations that enhanced the overall experience. Rock Bar & Grill is a great choice for anyone looking to enjoy quality food.

We love this place so much we came here twice this year (once for my birthday and once for my partner's). That should tell you how good it is!
We did the All You Can Eat and the quality is excellent. The sashimi is genuinely fresh (which can be rare for buffets) and the meat quality is top tier.
What impressed us most was the speed—we ordered on the iPad and the food arrived literally 2-4 minutes later.
Highly recommend for a celebration!

We had dinner for three, choosing the Buffet at $89/person, and ended up ordering:
• 3 bowls of Egg White & Seaweed Soup (very tasty!)
• 500g Wagyu Beef Ribs MB9+ (super tender but a bit too fatty)
• 100g Wagyu Ribeye Cap MB9+ (less fat but slightly chewy)
• 100g Beef Tongue (the BEST — incredibly tender!)
• King Prawn (super fresh!)
We didn’t order anything else because we were already too full.
Highly recommended if you want a good Japanese BBQ variety — I’ll definitely miss their beef tongue!

This Japanese yakiniku restaurant has been around for 25 years—total hidden gem! Obsessed with their Australian Halal Wagyu (MB7+ to 9+), the grills are super hot, searing the meat to juicy perfection. And the prices are such a steal! Highly recommend for meat lovers!

Suminoya Buffet is absolutely amazing! The variety of dishes is fantastic, especially the premium meats and fresh seafood. Everything is well-marinated and tastes authentic, with the perfect balance of flavors. The service is friendly and efficient, making the whole dining experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, great for both gatherings with friends and family dinners. I especially love the quality and freshness of the ingredients – definitely worth the price. Highly recommend Suminoya for anyone looking for an excellent Japanese BBQ buffet in Sydney!

This is a fantastic choice for Japanese BBQ in Sydney. The all-you-can-eat wagyu option is incredible value for the quality of meat you get. The cuts are tender and flavourful, and cooking it yourself at the table is a fun and interactive experience.

Awesome wine bar with great food and a big selection of Australian wines. Highly recommend this spot!

I've dined here before so know you'll always get a varied and great wine list. What impressed me with a recent visit (after too long of a gap between visits) is how good the food is - compliments to the chef. Some real stand outs including the terrine, fried scamorza, schnitzel, steak and peppercorn sauce. Even the bread was so tasty. The Madeleines are the cherry on top and are so good. Look forward to visiting again.

The best burger ever! We went for lunch a couple of weeks ago after a shopping trip before flying home. Fix was just round the corner from David Jones and across the road from St James station. We didn’t make a reservation, and were seated immediately. The staff were friendly and brought us water. I chose the steamed market fish with greens, sweet potato and lemon caper butter, the fish was barramundi. It was beautifully cooked, it was so moist, the sweet potato and lemon caper butter were smooth buttery and added a lovely citrus sharpness, and the greens were beautifully cooked. My husband opted for the wagyu burger, he devoured it and proclaimed it was the best burger he had ever had! It was so moist and tender and just melted in the mouth. We ordered a portion of the chips with chicken salt, that we picked at, this would be our only criticism, the chips were crunchy and well cooked but the chicken salt was a little over salty for our taste.
We chose a bottle of the Domaine de L’ille ‘Porquerolles” Provence rose to accompany our lunch, which was delicious.
If we come back to Sydney we would definitely come back to Fix Wine Bar.

The wines on offer are always great. It's even better at happy hour prices, whether it's a white, red or rosé. They even have food on happy hour too. The service is casual and knowledgeable, who can be relied upon for a recommendation. This place is an institution and known for their extensive wine collection. So worth stopping in for the wines.

Had the pleasure of dining at Fix twice in a week, have always found Stu and the team to be the epitome of hospitality. The food and wine were incredibly good and the price point spot on.
Pro tip:- always finish with the madeleines 👌

Food was very good but you do pay a premium. Servings were quite large and we ordered too much. The desserts we had were delicious. The service was excellent and attentive. A few things let them down. Unfortunately we were not told that still water was $10 per person, totalling $80! But they did take it off the bill when I complained. Why don’t restaurants tell you this when they ask if you want water? Especially when water is served from generic water bottles/jugs. And also groups over 6 people will be charged an extra 10%. The bathrooms were so dark you can’t see anything! Not enough hand wipes supplied either. Overall I would give 3.5 stars out of 5.

I’ve been a regular at Spice Temple for a while, but this was my first time trying their new lunch dumplings. They’re quite different from traditional Chinese dumplings, but still really tasty and a refreshing twist—definitely worth trying.
The atmosphere here is always a highlight—stylish, intimate, and perfect for a long lunch or dinner. I especially love their zodiac cocktails, which are so unique and make the experience feel special every time.
Always a great spot to come back to!

This place serves good Chinese spicy food, though at a premium price. What I appreciated most wasn’t the food, but the setting—the carpeted floors and sound-absorbing surroundings make conversations easy and relaxed, unlike many restaurants that are uncomfortably loud these days. The food is enjoyable, but not particularly spectacular.

We recently dined at Spice Temple in Sydney to celebrate a family birthday, and it was an absolute hit! The moment we stepped inside, we were struck by the warm and stunning atmosphere.
The service was top-notch – our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations from the menu. The food was absolutely divine! We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and each one was more delicious than the last.
What really made the evening special, though, was the birthday treat – the staff surprised the birthday boy with a complimentary dessert. It was such a thoughtful touch and added to the overall warmth and hospitality of the restaurant. We were impressed by the attention to detail.
We'll definitely be back for more! If you're looking for a great spot to celebrate a special occasion or just want to enjoy some amazing Asian cuisine, Spice Temple is a must-visit.

The sandwiches the people trapped in that tiny little space were able to create were absolutely amazing. Who would have thought cranberry, beets, and prosciutto would taste so good together. Loved it.

I had the gluten free chicken and prosciutto sandwich (toasted). It was lovely and I especially loved the Gorgonzola 😻 I did find my gluten free bread to be pretty dry and super crusty. I know it can be hard to find good gf options… also I just felt like a little pepper and tomato would be a great addition to this sandwich.

Enjoyed this place as they had veggie and vegan options! Service was great. Got the veg Mediterranean on sourdough, which was excellent and my partner got the Tempeh Burger (removed Tabouli) on sourdough and he enjoyed that. Would recommend. It’s a grab and go shop, so have to find a bench elsewhere but would highly recommend!

Met some friends for dinner here recently and had a great meal. I’ve eaten here a number of times over many years and consistency & quality continue to be strengths of this restaurant. After a beer & seafood appetizer (oysters) we decided to share a Tomahawk (around 1.5kg - tender, juicy & delicious!) between 3 people with a few sides accompanied by a lovely Italian Red Wine (really good wine list here - local & international selections). After seeing the dessert menu I couldn’t resist a nostalgic mini pavlova (taking me back to my childhood) to cap off a great evening. This restaurant is on the higher side of prices for Sydney but you are paying for a quality meal with exceptional service. Definitely worth trying this restaurant to satisfy any carnivorous cravings!

Chophouse was really solid. Steak was the star — juicy, well cooked, and full of flavour. Burrata to start was fresh and light, and the sides were done right. Dessert didn’t disappoint either (rum baba was especially good). Would come back.

Came here for our anniversary and the steak was impeccable! I’ve had a few tomahawks but this was cooked to perfection! Medium rare, juicy and a lot of fat that made each bite melt in your mouth. The peppercorn sauce was the perfect combo although could’ve had a bigger portion. The beef tartare was interesting it was overpowered by the potato and not enough beef didn’t like the ratio. The chips were okay it was just standard chips nothing special. Excellent service we told them we were celebrating our anniversary and they gave us a cocktail. Waiter was very knowledgeable and attentive. We were too full so skipped dessert but the options didn’t look that exciting. Steak is definitely their strength highly recommended.

Azuma feels different from many Japanese restaurants in Sydney - run mostly by Japanese staff, it carries an authenticity and quiet elegance that is not at all touristy. Even the wall of fine wines adds to the understated beauty of the setting.
The food was exceptional throughout. I particularly enjoyed the variety of seafood dishes, each prepared with delicacy and depth of flavour. The desserts were equally memorable - refined yet playful - and one, presented with a flickering light, delighted my niece during a family celebration. It was a thoughtful touch that made the evening feel special.
Azuma balances refinement and warmth in both service and food. It has quickly become a place I would return to, and one I would recommend to anyone seeking true Japanese hospitality in Sydney.

I'm on a personal mission to find the best sushi and sashimi and have been fortunate to have struck gold with Azuma. I have now had lunch here two weeks in a row, first time by myself and second time bringing my partner after listening to me rave about Azuma during my first visit!
Food is consistent and beyond exceptional, the sashimi and nigiri were so fresh and delicious it took us both right back to Japan. The food is prepared and presented with fine precision and skill, which is hard to come by in Sydney when it comes to Japanese food. There are lots of options in Sydney but I am after a very specific experience and Azuma ticked all the boxes for me. Food is obviously important but it's the collective experience with wait staff, chefs and restaurant space to elevate it from just being amazing food to a truly magical experience. Everyone there is genuinely friendly and warm, I had great chats with Mickey she's truly lovely! I feel so fortunate to have found a slice of Japan so close to home, I will be back again without a doubt!

WOW! If you are looking for authentic Japanese cuisine go no further than Azuma.
We stayed next door in the Sebel on Phillip St, and were pleasantly surprised to have such a fine restaurant right next door.

If you are looking for a superb dining experience, then Azuma is the restaurant for you.

Service here was impeccable. The servers were attentive to us and they would clean the table and replace our plates for every dish we finished. Water was refilled quite frequent too.
We had edamame and lotus crips to start. I found the crisps a tad too salty. We had Wagyu tataki and it cake with lotus crips too. They were just as equally salty and I had to drink a lot of water. Though Wagyu tataki was flavorsome and nicely presented, I would have liked it better had the sauce not been overly salty.
Agedashi tofu and eggplant was my favorite dish as it was soft and fresh, not to mention it was flavorful with the broth. It was the only dish I found not overwhelming.
We had king prawns and vegetables tempura for sharing too and it was the best tempura I had in Sydney. They were fried to perfection and not overwhelmed with oil at all, not to mention they were very crispy and flavorsome. I enjoyed every bit of it with the sauce they provided.
We got Wagyu sirloin steak mbs5+ with yuzu chilli dipping sauce and it was nicely presented. It was nicely done in medium rare and I enjoyed it with the sauce provided. It was well complemented with the veggie in it.
Lastly, we had their limited time Mont Blanc daifuku dessert with matcha gelato to finish off. It was a tad disappointing as I didn’t like the texture of daifuku that much. It tasted like a frozen mochi. Though I loved the matcha gelato.
All in all, I had a pleasant dining experience here. Thumbs up to the good food and good customer service.

We celebrated my friend’s 18th birthday at The Flynn and couldn’t have asked for a better experience! The convenient location in the CBD made it easy for everyone to get there, and the beautiful lights and inviting atmosphere set the perfect mood for the evening. Righto. I was not planning on leaving a review for this excellent "sandwich shop" (it does much more than sandwiches!), which is why I didn't take photos when there. But when I got back to my desk and launched into my sandwich, I just knew I had to say something. This is one of the few places where you can still get a sandwich made with your own combination of fillings. My sandwich was AMAZING - one of the most delicious and satisfying I've ever had, and that's saying alot! It started with the service, they were very tolerant of me just standing there trying to work out what ingredients I wanted on my sandwich. Then when I finally decided on a variation of a classic, old school ham-salad sandwich, they put it together with generosity and a smile 😃! Just fyi - rye bread, butter, ham, cheese, rocket, carrot, onion, tomato, beetroot, salt, pepper, mayonnaise. All for $13.20. Try them, you WON'T be disappointed 😌!

Excellent value lunch offerings at Deli Ziosa. Very popular but the staff are working at warp speed and getting through the lines at the lunch rush.
I ordered a small salad ($11) with 2 choices. One was Cajun Chicken Pasta and the other Chicken Caesar Salad. Both were tasty and the Cajun one had a bit of bite to it. Interestingly the Cajun chicken used dark meat in the salad while the caesar had chicken breast pieces. They really packed it into the container.
No internal seating and good luck finding a spot in the MLC foodcourt. I enjoyed my salads on the steps outside in the sun.
Great value.

I used to work in King St near the MCL Centre, and Deli Ziosa was our "go to place" for coffee, lunch and sometimes breakfast. The food was always excellent, consistent and very yummy. The coffee was fantastic.
So today, 10 years later, I find myself in the City needing some breakfast! Guess what? Deli Ziosa is still there, with the same everything, and surprise, surprise, the prices haven't gone up that much. Large flat white, less than $5, and a very yum bacon and 2 egg roll, less than $10. What's not to like! 👍🤪

Great Mexican place with fun dishes and a very chilled setting. Really enjoyed the creative take on some dishes including the jalapeno poppers.
Staff super friendly and easy to deal with.
I do find the use of QR codes frustrating sometimes and prefer to just talk to someone about options. It was great that we could do this - especially after we ordered three jugs of margaritas rather than three glasses!

The food was really delicious, the price matched up to the portion serve. The atmosphere was really calm, especially for a Saturday night. The staff were so friendly and attentive and helped with the menu. The drinks selections were really good, can seem limited on the non alcoholic options but they were good enough. The washroom was clean. Great food, great vibe, you can either go alone, with friends or even family as there quite a lot of space.

Fantastic bar with a vibrant atmosphere and delicious Mexican food! The tacos were reasonably priced at $8 each, and every bite was packed with flavour — the fish taco was definitely our favourite. The drinks and cocktails were also impressive, with a great range to choose from. Highly recommend for a fun night out with great food and drinks!

Barrio Cellar is a hidden gem in the heart of Sydney, offering a vibrant and energetic atmosphere that instantly puts you in a good mood. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The staff made us feel right at home, always checking in without being intrusive, a perfect balance that enhanced our overall experience.
Now let’s talk about the food, absolutely delicious! The quesadillas were perfectly grilled, with just the right amount of gooey cheese and flavorful fillings. The tacos were another standout, fresh, well-seasoned, and full of bold, authentic Mexican flavours. You could tell the ingredients were fresh and carefully prepared. Every bite was satisfying, and it’s clear the kitchen takes pride in its craft.
But the real stars of the night were the cocktails. Barrio Cellar’s bar team knows what they’re doing. Each cocktail we ordered was beautifully presented and packed a punch without being overpowering. Whether you’re into classic margaritas or something more adventurous, they’ve got you covered.
Overall, Barrio Cellar delivered on every level, great food, amazing cocktails, and top-notch service in a lively, underground setting. It’s the kind of place you’ll want to return to with friends, and we definitely will. Highly recommend it for a fun night out!

Checked out this Mexican place last weekend and really enjoyed it! The food was tasty, and the cocktails were surprisingly good—especially considering I don’t usually drink tequila. I ordered two tequila based cocktails, and both were great. One of them was the Purple Hearts, and I absolutely loved it!
The atmosphere was nice and relaxed, I’d definitely come back and would recommend it to anyone looking for good food and drinks.
