5 Star Rating Had a wonderful night at the Rockpool Bar…walk-ins only and we sat at the bar. Morad was our bar tender for the evening and our bar bill exceeded the food bill. Job well done Morad! His recommendations were spot on and he steered us in the right direction. Thanks. Tried a number of wines and the 6hr cooked negroni which was pretty special. The Hanky Funky cocktail with raspberry dust on the outside of the glass was also very special. Summary of our meal: prawn taco…yes please; anchovy bruschetta tasty, and the beef tostada with jalapeño was four or five good mouthfuls of sheer enjoyment. We had to try the much lauded Wagyu beef burger, with hand cut fat fries…and a glass of Morgan gamay … the burger really really good yet seemingly simple but without a doubt one of the best burgers you’ll eat. And to top it all off was the pavlova standing tall and proud and dwarfing the plate…so good. The bar is a really good option if you don’t want to do the full restaurant thing. Top marks here…highly recommended. The staff make it extra special and the atmosphere is sophisticated yet relaxed…loved it!

4 Star Rating My partner and I had our celebratory dinner at Rockpool Sydney Bar and Grill on 21.03.2025. Great Ambience, Service and Meal. From Seating to Serving, the wait staff have been courteous and attentive. They did not rush us throughout the entire evening and remained polite at all times. Though Rockpool is known for its dry aged steak, the starters including the nutty chewy calamari and brilliantly spiced pipis with pork belly were all divine. The Semolina pasta with Moreton Bay Bug was a beautiful dish - Delicate and Succulent - we only wish there was more on the plate. The Cape Grim Dry Aged Rib Eye on Bone, however, failed to live up to its reputation; far from tenderness or taste, and at $99 for 400g, quite disappointing. Surprisingly, the Wollemi Duck made up for the lackluster beef and outshone the rest of the dishes. The tender, juicy duck meat with a rich, gamey flavor, complemented by crispy skin and a well-balanced Plum sauce! It was to die for. At the end of the meal, the staff prompted us to get dessert, however, we were too full by then. Even then, they served us a complimentary chocolate muffin topped with salted caramel cream. It was a fine touch to a wonderful meal. Thank you Rockpool. We will be back to visit your enterprise again to give the steak another chance and at the same time, indulge in our new favourite - Wollemi Duck. 👍🏼

5 Star Rating Came for a private function in the large function room food was great. The place is very pricey so it's not somewhere I would ordinarily go. I did find that the soft drinks were like 70% ice cubes and be warned that the water also cost $$$ as it's some fancy revers osmosis filtered water.

4 Star Rating My rating is 4.4*. I debated for some time whether it should be higher or lower but there are minor niggles. Rockpool is an institution and for good reasons. I won't bother to write another review covering the usual grounds. However, I shall mention some of the niggles on the night. First of all, the room is amazing. However, you can't pick who you sat next to. On our weeknight outing, a pair of gentlemen from the construction industry were seated next to us. As time progresses and drinks flowed, their conversation got animated and is peppered with 4 letters words. Even with the above average distance between tables, your ears pick out all the choice words. There are a few minor issues with the service as well. The staff are friendly and there are many of them but food were put in front of the wrong diner twice. This shouldn't happen for a restaurant of this calibre. There are ways to note down who ordered what. The final point is value. It is expensive. It is not outrageous as a complete package but the value equation is a little off when you put that next to the minor issues we had. It makes sense as a business dinner on a weeknight (on the expense account) but if this is a date night, I would have second thoughts.

5 Star Rating Fabulous! I’ve been to quite a few yakiniku places in Sydney, but Suminoya really stands out — it’s been around for years, and you can tell they know what they’re doing. The quality of the meat, especially the Wagyu, is amazing. Super tender, juicy, with just the right amount of marbling. You can taste the difference.

5 Star Rating Absolutely loved this place — hands down one of the best hidden Japanese BBQ spots in the city. We came here for the $89 all-you-can-eat Wagyu BBQ, and I was honestly blown away. The meat quality was amazing, especially the Wagyu beef rib — super juicy and full of flavour, with that perfect melt-in-your-mouth texture. I could easily say it’s better than a lot of regular yakiniku places in Sydney. You order everything on an iPad, and there are quite a few premium cuts included. The grill is really strong too — cooks fast and evenly, and the sear marks are just beautiful. Also, please try the chicken wings — they tasted just like the ones I had in Japan. So nostalgic and so good. The staff were all Japanese and really friendly, especially the lady at the front — super welcoming and kind. You can tell it’s a proper local favourite, not part of a chain. Only thing is — it’s a bit hidden down a small alley, so don’t be surprised if you miss it the first time. Definitely worth finding though!

5 Star Rating I've dined here before so know you'll always get a varied and great wine list. What impressed me with a recent visit (after too long of a gap between visits) is how good the food is - compliments to the chef. Some real stand outs including the terrine, fried scamorza, schnitzel, steak and peppercorn sauce. Even the bread was so tasty. The Madeleines are the cherry on top and are so good. Look forward to visiting again.

5 Star Rating I had an excellent lunch of oysters, steak tartare and wine at this unassuming but lovely place. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate about their wines and the number of regulars who came right when they opened at 12pm on Monday is a testament to how good they are. I had a very unique Jura style “yellow” wine from Mornington and a decent and earthy gamay from NSW. The oysters were nice and fresh but the steak tartare which was robust in terms of texture and taste stole the show - one of the best I’ve had in recent memory!

5 Star Rating Great Christmas dinner here with BYO for free! Reasonable prices but great variety of seafood and meats. As starters, we got oysters that had good meat inside. The potato croquets tasted amazing, too. The steak was nicely medium rare with amazing colours. Finally, finishing with the affogato is a must! Hot espresso and liquor over a gelato ice cream. It couldn't get any better. Highly recommend this place.

5 Star Rating We recently dined at Spice Temple in Sydney to celebrate a family birthday, and it was an absolute hit! The moment we stepped inside, we were struck by the warm and stunning atmosphere. The service was top-notch – our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made excellent recommendations from the menu. The food was absolutely divine! We ordered a variety of dishes to share, and each one was more delicious than the last. What really made the evening special, though, was the birthday treat – the staff surprised the birthday boy with a complimentary dessert. It was such a thoughtful touch and added to the overall warmth and hospitality of the restaurant. We were impressed by the attention to detail. We'll definitely be back for more! If you're looking for a great spot to celebrate a special occasion or just want to enjoy some amazing Asian cuisine, Spice Temple is a must-visit.

5 Star Rating Absolutely wonderful dining experience! First time but won't be our last. Every dish was delicious, and the cocktails were incredible. Highly recommend the hot sweet and sour numbing pork, and the prawn wontons. Our waiter was very efficient and service oriented - to the point that he was coming over and refolding our napkins when we went to the bathroom! Now that's service. The atmosphere was also really cool with contemporary yet dark underground vibes and a great music selection.10/10 no notes, do yourself a favour and give Spice Temple a go.

5 Star Rating This second-rate Chinese restaurant in Martin Place is really good at stir-frying chicken. The entrance is a black door. Push the door and enter. The third floor comes into view. At the end of the atmosphere stairs you will see a blue lobster tank I immediately decided to order one, which weighed about one kilogram. I chose the soy sauce. Lobster 🦞220🔪/kg I think this price is reasonable in the Hat Restaurant Taste-wise, the lobster here is probably the most surprising thing I've had recently... Rather than tempeh, it feels more like mushroom sauce to me? My blind guess is that the lobster was either steamed or boiled; the sauce is not strong, as if it adds saltiness and freshness? The final splash of oil adds flavor? Ginger and scallion on top But there is no ginger taste at all, and the green onions should have been processed so that they don't feel heavy All the ingredients highlight the freshness of the lobster! Very good review 🤍 For appetizer, I ordered a small portion of 22🔪 raw tuna with my friend. The orange oil added makes it super refreshing~ on the tuna A layer of fruit puree? Not sure what kind of fruit or mix it is The taste is good, I like it; its hotpot shocked us for 10,000 years The chef will display the ingredients and then Cooking ~ The soup base is a bit like Guizhou sour soup, but not completely... M9 wagyu is really good even if it is cut into thick slices and even eaten later The soup is almost cold, but the beef is still as tender as ever…. The price of 89🔪 is quite novel; the fried noodles I ordered are just average A little spicy ~ It gives me the feeling that it highlights the original taste of the ingredients The ingredients are very fresh and clean, I love lobsters very much~ The surprise is It's interesting that all the chefs are white and can make Chinese food like this The restaurant atmosphere is also good, especially suitable for dating business gatherings Okay, that's it for today.

5 Star Rating We came here for a quick lunch. At first we could not locate it as we didn't expect its unassuming entrance which blends into the building towering over it. Its name evokes an ancient place yet its modern dining interior makes for quite an interesting contrast. Service was prompt and the waitress was very helpful in providing details of dishes which we ordered. The egg plant is a good appetizing starter. The fried Shanxi noodles with lamb is quite filling. However, the noodle texture which is likely paper thin in its original processed form resembled shredded papadam. The tofu and vege noodles is a good choice if you're staving off meat or want a vegetarian alternative.

They couldn't wait to get you out of your table. It’s definitely worth a visit. Although the prices are high, they are well worth every penny. I had the Wagyu steak, which was tender and cooked to perfection. The salad looked simple, but it was incredibly fresh, with crisp vegetables and a deliciously well-mixed dressing. The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy, but not overly rich. 5 Star Rating Service here was impeccable. The servers were attentive to us and they would clean the table and replace our plates for every dish we finished. Water was refilled quite frequent too. We had edamame and lotus crips to start. I found the crisps a tad too salty. We had Wagyu tataki and it cake with lotus crips too. They were just as equally salty and I had to drink a lot of water. Though Wagyu tataki was flavorsome and nicely presented, I would have liked it better had the sauce not been overly salty. Agedashi tofu and eggplant was my favorite dish as it was soft and fresh, not to mention it was flavorful with the broth. It was the only dish I found not overwhelming. We had king prawns and vegetables tempura for sharing too and it was the best tempura I had in Sydney. They were fried to perfection and not overwhelmed with oil at all, not to mention they were very crispy and flavorsome. I enjoyed every bit of it with the sauce they provided. We got Wagyu sirloin steak mbs5+ with yuzu chilli dipping sauce and it was nicely presented. It was nicely done in medium rare and I enjoyed it with the sauce provided. It was well complemented with the veggie in it. Lastly, we had their limited time Mont Blanc daifuku dessert with matcha gelato to finish off. It was a tad disappointing as I didn’t like the texture of daifuku that much. It tasted like a frozen mochi. Though I loved the matcha gelato. All in all, I had a pleasant dining experience here. Thumbs up to the good food and good customer service.

5 Star Rating Been visiting Azuma over the years and came to celebrate my friends 50th at their new location on Phillip St. Staff were attentive and friendly, and the new layout was open and inviting. The 8 courses were well presented, and can clearly see the attention to detail on the small dishes. The journey also included the theme of the Japanese elemental colours and the flavours were well thought out. The fish were also cooked perfectly. The only minor things was the broth in the soup dishes were slightly salty and the zenzai red bean was a tad sweet for my preference. However the flavour profiles were there. Finished the meal with their world famous chiffon cake. If you want to experience a genuine Japanese cuisine in Sydney using some Australian ingredients, I do recommend you to try. 5 Star Rating A beautifully appointed modern but authentic style Japanese restaurant that I happened across while staying at the Sebel Hotel next door during the lead up to the Sydney Marathon. The staff were extremely friendly and polite which has been my usual experience in both Japan and Australia. I must admit when I ordered the grilled lamb cutlet for $28.00 I was expecting some sort of side with it. I ordered the agadashi (a favourite of mine) as an entree. Both dishes were superb in both presentation and taste but I was still hungry. I then ordered the tempura prawns and vegetables and again, just perfect🥰 I enjoyed a refreshing ‘Moho’ mocktail with my meal (no alcohol leading up to the marathon 😊). The meal was expensive but for lovers of fine food I thought it was worth it. I’d certainly return❣️🥢🍱🍲🍤

5 Star Rating We had a great lunch at The Flynn, the gluten free pizza margharita was one of the nicest I have had! My husband loved his steak and chips. The Manager, Tim was super friendly!

4 Star Rating Really enjoyed the chicken katsu for $20 even if it didn’t have any katsu sauce. The veggies and pickled onions gave it the freshness and sweetness to complement it. The venue gets a bit noisy but the table service is efficient and attentive.

5 Star Rating My work local. Cold beer, good food and decent specials ($18 pizza on Thursday is a ripper). Plenty of screens to watch sport and they'll change channels if they can to accomodate you. Two discrete sections - sit down restaurant or the more casual stand up or bar stool section.

5 Star Rating Excellent value lunch offerings at Deli Ziosa. Very popular but the staff are working at warp speed and getting through the lines at the lunch rush. I ordered a small salad ($11) with 2 choices. One was Cajun Chicken Pasta and the other Chicken Caesar Salad. Both were tasty and the Cajun one had a bit of bite to it. Interestingly the Cajun chicken used dark meat in the salad while the caesar had chicken breast pieces. They really packed it into the container. No internal seating and good luck finding a spot in the MLC foodcourt. I enjoyed my salads on the steps outside in the sun. Great value.

5 Star Rating Deli Ziosa serves the best sandwiches in this area! Their chicken pesto sandwich is a must-try, but they also offer a wide variety of sandwiches, both with meat and vegetarian options. The ladies who work there are incredibly friendly and polite. Highly recommended!

5 Star Rating It's a food court. But you can make your own salad, sandwich, etc plus choose from pre-made ones also. I've eaten here twice today, breakfast and lunch, whilst working in the offices above. Compared to some of the other places available, prices are very reasonable, fresh, were made in front of me and the service was pleasant. Will happily return again. Recommended.
