2 Star Rating I must say the main dishes were truly terrible. My steak was so dry and bland, the beef meat was not firm. It was very loose and tasted not fresh. I can’t believe this quality would cost me $65. And the French fries was average, I can’t see anything special compared to McDonald’s. My partner’s rabbit pasta was also awful. It just tasted strange, and the pasta was very hard. I feel like the chef doesn’t know much about how to control heat and fire when cooking. Speaking of entrees, the snails was also quite average. The duck paste was great for my first bite, the orange puree was great tho, love the layered flavours. Probably the best dish on today’s table is the green salad, very fresh, crispy and juicy. The customer service was also average. This place has minimum cost which is $70 per person, so I would expect for a very nice and delicious meal for our anniversary. Unfortunately, the result as you can see, just not as what we expected. It’s so sad and disappointing for me to choose this place to celebrate our anniversary. Shame :(

5 Star Rating Absolutely delightful French restaurant! From the moment you step in, the ambiance sweeps you away to the charming streets of Paris. The atmosphere is enchanting, creating a perfect setting for a memorable dining experience. Now, let's talk about the food – it's not just good, it's downright delicious and authentically French. I had the pleasure of savoring the fantastic duck, a true culinary masterpiece, and the rabbit was nothing short of amazing. Each bite felt like a journey through French gastronomy. To elevate the experience, I paired my meal with some exquisite red wines. The combination of flavors was beyond perfection, creating a symphony for the taste buds. The attention to detail, the friendly staff, and the overall warmth of the place make it more than just a meal; it's a celebration of French cuisine. If you're looking for a culinary escape to Paris without leaving town, this gem of a restaurant is an absolute must-try!

5 Star Rating A fantastic French restaurant! Romantic and rustic vibe that makes it a perfect restaurant for your date night. The menu had everything you would expect to find on a French menu, including an excellent selection of wine. I had the beef tartare, which was delicious and fresh! The staff were wonderful too! I really appreciate that one of the waitresses let me practice my French with her and responded back in French! 100% recommend and will be back! Complimenti! 👏

2 Star Rating Expensive, slightly under average French food. For the price, I expected above average, perfected French food but something was always missing in each dish E.g. onion soup had stems of herbs and could have been more punchy, oysters could have been fresher and apple tarte could have retained a bit of crunch. Unfortunately, service was also rushed as there are tight time slots.

3 Star Rating Not all Bavarian restaurants make good food. This one makes it properly and very well! Safe to book and walk right in if there’s a table I thought all Bavarian restaurants make same quality food. But the York st restaurant proved to me that this is not the case. Meat wasn’t dry and it was cooked to perfection. It’s surprising how much difference a chef can make. Everything on the plate was delicious. The vibe was unique as always and service was fast and welcoming. For these reasons, I give this place 3 bears

5 Star Rating I was looking for an easy meal in the city on a Sunday night. I wandered into The Bavarian and settled on the beef burger with fries and a beer. Service was good and burger actually exceeded my expectations. You order using a QR code at the table which, whilst efficient, detracts a little from the atmosphere of this venue. Still nice atmosphere, good food and plenty of beer choices.

5 Star Rating The restaurant was super cozy yet elegant, with subtle modern deco around. The food was absolutely incredible, the highlights being the beef tataki and kingfish new style sashimi. I’m usually not a fan of eggplant, but the miso eggplant surprisingly had be reaching for more and was packed with flavour. Service was amazing, staff was lovely! The location is also conveniently situated, right next to Wynyard station.

2 Star Rating Toko was a disappointment compared to how good it was back then at Surry hills. I brought my friend from Singapore for a visit because I believed Toko can represent the food scene in Sydney. Food was really not great, salty, lacking flavour. It tasted like when I put too much soy sauce on my failed cooking or simply boiled food and put some sauce on top. Definitely not worth the price. Despite scampi nigiri being as great as usual. Ambiance is very businessy so I wouldn’t recommend tourists. Service wasn’t friendly - I asked for recommendations and the waitress basically said it really depends on the person. No smiles on them at all which makes the vibe even more business like. My friend said she feels like she’s at work and losing appetite. Worst part is there was some plastic in the food and scratched my husband’s mouth. They did apologise and provided free foods and took the cost out. However the whole experience really wasn’t great like nothing worked. In the bathroom, the spare toilet paper are basically on the roof so when it ran out we couldn’t get it .. all the best to Toko I hope it can become my favourite Japanese restaurant again.

5 Star Rating From the ambience (lively), to the food (amazing) and service (excellent) made it a memorable night for us at Toko. We had the tasting menu which I highly recommend and seats at the bar to see the Chefs in action. Thoroughly enjoyed the fresh, perfectly sliced bite size sashimis and the dressings that came with it. The slightly charred scallops and yet not overcooked, the miso lamb cutlets, etc... beautiful food.

4 Star Rating To begin with, the interior was perfect, very modern and quaint decor to along with the dim subtle atmosphere of the venue, couldn’t fault the venue either situated in a perfect spot with easy parking across the road. The food was ok but had its flaws, I ordered the pork ribs and they came out over cooked and too charred and was way to salty. For Japanese the nigiri was good but the star of the show was the strip loin was cooked perfectly to how we wanted it and also juicy as well perfectly seasoned, the king fish sushi I was also another draft pick in the bunch. Would recommend but would not come back.

5 Star Rating Cosy bar, great cocktails, friendly staff. Came for the happy hour drinks and tried every one, all of them good size and delicious. Bartender was very welcoming and personable. Could do with a better outdoor seating area like next door as standing around barrels isn’t ideal. Would happily come again and relax on the balcony with a cocktail.

2 Star Rating If you are a fan of whisky, stay clear of this place. While the selection may look great on the photos, reality is much worse… You will be paying very premium price for whiskies that already aired out so much in the bottles that they barely have the taste they should… The atmosphere is great, but that’s about it. Also the servers were extremely slow even though the place was half empty. Would not recommend

5 Star Rating Thanks to First Table we were checking out this restaurant for an evening meal. The result was ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS!!! We had the fried chicken, pork belly, burrata, chicken pate, pulled apart bread, and grilled brocolini, which were all so delicious, especially the pork belly and the brocolini. The pate was also a highlight starter. The pulled apart bread was even hot like it just came out of the oven! We were extremely satisfied with the quality of our meal. Can't end without a note to the drinks obviously since it's a bar, but even the mocktails were very well made! Kudos to that! Compliments to the chef, the bar tender, and the friendly front house team for such a beautiful experience of the evening! We will see you again soon!

They had a special treat for the birthday girl which we thought was a really nice gesture. Highly recommended for celebrating special occasions.

2 Star Rating I booked a 3 course “silver premium dining experience” which included unlimited water, one side, two glasses of champagne and a box of chocolates (which I never got). According to the website it says that you are guaranteed a window seat, hence why it’s “premium”. The normal menu is $130 for three courses. We paid $220 for the “premium experience” the premium experience apart from the additional water two glasses of champagne and one side, isn’t really worth the extra $200, in my opinion save your money and go somewhere else. Everyone in the restaurant was seated at a window and seemed to be having the same experience, so there was nothing special about what I booked. I received a email to provide feedback the next day, which I mention this all, I got a condescending response back saying the restaurant wasn’t busy hence everyone was seated by the window, and apparently it’s my fault I never got the box of chocolates because I was suppose to ask for it? I didn’t mention to the manager that they put a sneaky Sunday surcharge of $71, all up my bill was $570 for what was supposed to be a very special occasion but the food was pretty mediocre, the service and waiter was lovely, but I didn’t get what was promised and the experience was watered down by the fact they didn’t really provide a special experience they just overcharged me for the same menu. I would’ve rather have gone to Aria or Quay for that money. What a waste. ** Edit below and response to O Bars reply** I paid $220 per person, which is an extra $90 per head compared to the normal menu ($130), it was $180 for two people “unlimited bottle water, a window seat, two glasses of Champagne, One side (not sides) one side!! And a box of chocolates (I never got)” Therefore, with the surcharge etc there was a $200+ difference for the “Premium dining experience” for what you got compared to the normal menu. IMO it was a rip off and not worth it, but that’s just my honest opinion.

4 Star Rating Everything was great until a waitress brought me the duck breast I didn’t order. I told her I didn’t order it so she took it away. A few minutes later she came back with the duck breast and said she confirmed with the kitchen that it’s mine. I told her no I ordered the grilled market fish. The waitress who took my order was standing behind me so I talked to her hoping she could remember. When I made the order, I explicitly asked her what’s the fish today and how much it was since it’s labelled as MP on the menu. She had an attitude and insisted that I ordered the duck breast. Anyway the duck breast was taken away again and I thought I could finally get my fish. Another lady who seemed to be the manager came with the duck breast again and asked me if I ordered it. I was like wth??? How many times did I have to explain? I DID NOT order the duck breast. I ordered the FISH. In the end I got my grilled fish and complimentary fried potatoes. I still chose to give a 4 star rating since the food wasn’t bad. The team was nice except the waitress who took my order.

They can tailor the amount of dumplings to the amount of guests which is brilliant and all restaurants should offer this. 3 Star Rating Ordered the Buffalo Mozzarella, it was very small servings and the texture was quite rubbery, wasn't expecting this for the price we paid. The pasta was okay, not that filling. The best dish of the night was the dessert - tiramisu. Overall not value for money. I guess you're paying for the Merivale brand. Not sure if I would come back to eat here again.

3 Star Rating Just an average restaurant in Sydney. The staffs was friendly, atmosphere was good. All of the entrees seem to be great but the main cause are really disappointed in terms of taste and price. I would recommend just ordering only drink with an entrees and enjoy.
