We enjoyed a lovely dinner at this intimate French bistro. The pork rillette, steak frites and Dame Blanche were highlights. We also enjoyed the palate cleanser lemon sorbet and vodka (though not being much of a drinker, I'd have preferred to have enjoyed the sorbet without the vodka poured on top).
Service was warm and friendly. It's a cosy, dim-lit setting that feels relaxed and welcoming. There are some interesting decorations to be observed too!
I'd be keen to visit again.

The best French Restaurant in Sydney. Constantly delicious food from Ludo’s kitchen and a great wine list. Very personal service from Xav and the staff in the front of house. You’ll find all the greats of French cuisine on the menu. Book ahead as they’re always busy in this intimate space.

Personally my favourite French restaurant in Sydney. Food was amazing from start to finish.
I love escargots and the seasoning they cooked with it was great. Also had the mussels and oysters which were fresh and tasty.
Then we had a shot of vodka which they recommended to transition to main. We had the steak and salmon and both of them were really well cooked. After that we finished with crème brûlée and crepes which were amazing too.
Staffs were really friendly and the atmosphere was. Highly recommend for everyone who enjoys French cuisine.

Stepping into Bistro Papillon feels like stumbling upon a hidden gem in the heart of Paris. The quaint ambiance, with its warm lighting, and cozy corners, immediately transports you to a charming Parisian bistro.
From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the food.
The menu is a delightful journey through classic French cuisine. We started with an order of escargot, perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The beef tartare, however, was the star of the show – easily one of the best we’ve had in Sydney.
For mains, the beef bourguignon was a masterpiece. The meat was incredibly tender, the sauce rich and deeply flavorful, and the accompanying vegetables were perfectly cooked. The duck confit was another highlight, with the skin beautifully crisp and the meat meltingly tender.
The wine list is extensive and thoughtfully curated, with a fantastic selection of French wines to complement the menu.
To finish, we shared the apple tart, and tried their lovely selections of digestifs.
Bistro Papillon is a true gem. It offers an authentic French dining experience with exceptional food, impeccable service, and a charming atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a taste of Paris in Sydney.

A Magical Evening at Bistro Papillon – A Taste of France in Sydney
Nestled in the heart of Sydney, Bistro Papillon transported us straight to the charming streets of Paris with its warm ambiance, attentive service, and truly exquisite French cuisine. From the moment we stepped in, we knew we were in for a special experience.
The menu was a delightful showcase of French culinary tradition, and each dish was prepared with remarkable attention to detail. We started our evening with a serving of fresh mussels bathed in a luscious, aromatic broth, accompanied by crispy French fries and rustic bread – a perfect combination of flavors and textures.
For the main course, we indulged in two classic French dishes: the Boeuf Bourguignon, a rich and hearty slow-cooked beef stew with velvety mashed potatoes, and the Mushroom Risotto, which was creamy, flavorful, and topped with a generous dusting of Parmesan. Each bite was a testament to the chef’s skill and dedication to authentic French cooking.
To end this unforgettable meal, we had the Crème Brûlée, a flawless rendition of the beloved dessert. The caramelized sugar crust was perfectly crisp, giving way to the smooth, decadent custard beneath—an absolutely divine way to conclude our dining experience.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere of Bistro Papillon played a huge role in making this night so memorable. The intimate lighting, rustic decor, and warm hospitality made us feel like we had stepped into a cozy Parisian bistro.
If you’re in Sydney and looking for an authentic taste of France, Bistro Papillon is a must-visit. We cannot wait to return!

Great place for comfort food and a range of delicious German beers & schnapps. Share platters are a good way to enjoy a diverse variety of available dishes. Pork knuckle was cooked to perfection - crispy on the outside & moist tenderness on the inside. Sauerkraut is really good too. Meal was delicious - happy hour beer prices also very reasonable. Fast friendly service & the convenience of online ordering from the table if desired too. Highly recommended!

We ordered the Munich Platter for a group of two, and it was a fantastic choice. Plenty of food, and every element had great flavor, especially the pork belly and sausages.
The pork belly was perfectly cooked with crunchy crackling, and the sausages had great flavor.
Slightly pricey but worth it for the experience.

If you’re craving hearty German comfort food and a solid beer selection, The Bavarian in Sydney hits the spot. The crispy pork knuckle was absolutely the highlight—perfectly roasted with a crunchy crackling, sitting on creamy mashed potatoes and rich gravy. So satisfying! We also tried the grilled sausage plate with herb potatoes and greens, which balanced the meal nicely.
The beer came in proper steins, ice-cold and refreshing—definitely made for a true Bavarian experience. The atmosphere was lively but still relaxed enough for a proper catch-up over dinner. Plus, the venue has a spacious, rustic vibe with warm lighting and great service.
Would come back again—especially for the pork knuckle and beer combo!

Toko in Sydney offers an unforgettable Japanese dining experience with a perfect blend of flavour and style. The lamb skewers are tender and smoky, the salmon sushi is fresh and delicate, and the chicken karaage is crispy and full of flavour. Vegetarians will love the spicy tofu, BBQ cabbage, miso soup, and broccolini—all thoughtfully prepared and bursting with taste. Combined with excellent cocktails and warm service, it’s a must-visit for lovers of modern Japanese cuisine.

Went to celebrate son’s 21st upon recommendation by a friend. Top notch from the lovely staff, the yummy food and the ambience of the restaurant. We had the nori-dasu tasting with a couple of side orders. Couldn’t fault the taste, each dish was nice to look at and just so good to savour. The staff are lovely, attentive and know what they’re doing smoothly. The restaurant itself is nice to look at, but gets a bit too loud when it’s nearly full. Overall, great experience and the birthday boy left happy. Will return definitely!

Absolutely amazing fine dining from all elements! Food, service, interiors are all perfect. Cannot recommend Toko enough if you’re looking for beautiful food. I’m not usually a fan of oysters but the dressing they use is to die for

Toko Restaurant in Sydney offers a contemporary Japanese izakaya experience that artfully combines Australia's fresh produce with modern culinary techniques. The tasting menu is a culinary journey through Toko's signature dishes, each thoughtfully paired with wines that enhance the flavors.
The menu begins with freshly shucked Pacific oysters from Tasmania, dressed in a house-made tozasu sauce infused with Haku Vodka, providing a refreshing and briny start.
Next, the seared salmon maki features chili mayonnaise, avocado, and a unique squid ink tenkasu coating, adding a delightful crunch and depth of flavor.
The grilled scallops are a standout, complemented by pickled apple and jalapeño, creating a harmonious balance of sweetness and heat.
For the main course, the robata grill offers succulent options like lamb cutlets and wagyu striploin, each grilled to perfection and showcasing the quality of the ingredients.
Throughout the meal, the wines offered are meticulously selected to complement each dish, enhancing the overall dining experience. The ambiance is intimate, with dim lighting and a spacious wooden interior, making it ideal for both business and personal gatherings.
In summary, Toko's tasting menu is a well-curated exploration of modern Japanese cuisine, with each dish and wine pairing thoughtfully designed to delight the palate.

Excellente dinner at the Toko restaurant. We had the chef’s specials dishes for 2 people. The experience was really nice and tasty we just wanted a little bit more sushis but anyway it was the best Japanese cuisine experience in Sydney so far.
We highly recommend.

We stopped in for a drink during happy hour and managed to snag the window table. The gentleman serving us was really friendly and helpful. We tried a grapefruit margarita and a lychee martini. Both drinks were well made, sweet without being overly so. A lovely place to stop for a drink. They have an outdoor patio too!

Cosy bar, great cocktails, friendly staff.
Came for the happy hour drinks and tried every one, all of them good size and delicious. Bartender was very welcoming and personable.
Could do with a better outdoor seating area like next door as standing around barrels isn’t ideal.
Would happily come again and relax on the balcony with a cocktail.

If you are a fan of whisky, stay clear of this place. While the selection may look great on the photos, reality is much worse… You will be paying very premium price for whiskies that already aired out so much in the bottles that they barely have the taste they should…
The atmosphere is great, but that’s about it. Also the servers were extremely slow even though the place was half empty.
Would not recommend

Delicious drinks, impressed to see cauliflower popcorn was packed with cauliflower florets and no filler, impressed to see Taiwanese-style fried chicken on the menu and that the chicken had been marinated! 👍👍👍 Only critique were fries were a bit empty inside. Deserved more customers at 5pm on a Saturday!

Reasonably priced, tasty cocktails. Great layout with multiple bars over the 3 levels. Decor looks great but there’s little to no ambience or character. It was an uncomfortable experience, especially as someone with familiarity in the industry, seeing the manager micromanage and reprimand bar staff who were doing a perfectly good job in front of the customers. For an intimate venue, it misses the mark which is a shame given the potential.

We came for dinner for our twentieth wedding anniversary having got engaged here twenty three years ago. We were seated at a window table just before sunset. Beautiful view of the Opera House and Harbour Bridge as the sun was setting. Our servers (Matisse and Jannes(?)) were fantastic, incredibly helpful and friendly but weren’t overbearing, clearly very well trained waiters. I believe it was a trial shift for Jannes but we would never had known if we were not informed as we were leaving (hire this man, he was great!)
Had delicious cocktails then ordered the signature tasting menu. Everything was delicious, but the scallops were next level delicious.
All in all a fabulous night, we couldn’t have asked for better to celebrate our milestone and look forward to returning.

Absolutely loved our experience at O Bar and Dining! From the moment we walked in, the staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming—they really made the night feel special.
We went for the package and spent around $150 per person, and it was completely worth it. The food was crazy good—every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavour. You can really taste the quality and creativity in every bite.
What made it even more unforgettable was the 360-degree rotating view. Watching the Vivid Sydney lights from the moving bar while dining was just magical. It gave us a stunning, ever-changing backdrop that took the whole experience to another level.
Highly recommend for a special night out—can’t wait to come back!

The oysters are non negotiable for me here, Sydney Rock are my go to every time. The view? Next level. The restaurant does a full rotation every hour, so you get a 360° experience without leaving your seat.
It’s my favourite place to bring out of town guests, it never fails to impress. The food is consistently exceptional, and while the service is nice enough, it’s the atmosphere and flavour that truly shine.

O bar is moody, luxurious, and intimate. Every course from the set menu was incredible in taste and presentation. O Bar continues to impress! It's my go-to spot for cocktails and dessert. The hosts are always warm and welcoming, and the service is top-tier, perfectly aligned with the premium price point. As a bonus, the team always nails their recommendations. Whether you visit during the day or night, the views are absolutely stunning. The washroom is consistently spotless and even has the perfect little corner for a cheeky bathroom selfie. Highly recommend if you're looking for a place that won’t disappoint on a special occasion.

We visited this place on Friday night and loved the outdoor seating area's atmosphere. The staff were friendly and attentive. The mains were enjoyable, but the pannacotta didn't quite hit the mark – it was overly liquid. Overall, a pleasant experience with some room for improvement in the desserts.

Down an alleyway, opposite Felix, is this little gem. It's all about shared plates. The hummus was delicious & the octopus was nice & spicy. There could have been a larger serve of the focaccia. The ladies serving were a well trained team. You can sit out eating under the stars or the awning comes out for inclement weather. Unlike Felix, the bill was very reasonable.

MOST HONEST REVIEW OF ASH ST CELLAR 2024
It is snack sized. Don’t bring a large group unless you’re spending a lot.
Scallops: 7/10 great flavour
Bread: 5/10
Beetroot: 7.5/10 very good
Wild Boar Ragu: 6.5/10 It was cooked well but the seasoning wasn’t what it could be. The Wild Boar flavour was over powered by aged Parmesan.
Pork Cutlet (Milanese) - 8/10 Very good, although a lot of bone.
Market fish 6/10 - it was something like $36 and it’s just one fillet of John Dory overcooked, for that price there shouldn’t be any faults and it should be clever and creative.
The Chicken with eggplant and Raisin: 5/10 this dish wasn’t thought through and get rushed to get on the plate. Would none order
Mb9+ Wagyu rump cap: It was cooked medium rare, Any chef that knows his steak knows that this cut is tough as nails at medium rare and needs to be cooked to medium. Lack of cooking knowledge and amateur mistake, we couldn’t eat this dish, it wasn’t edible which is a problem cause it is expensive. The waiters saw us complain and turned the blind eye… that borderline ruined the experience.
Desserts were good but not great, first one was a panacotta with just some pistachio and literal honey over the top which anyone could do at home.
Meringue Eton mess: Was nice and refreshing, Would recommend order.
Lowdown: it’s good for buisness people who don’t know about food.
Not good for large groups or people who like dislike small portions.
Will TrueCook - 11 months ago
Had the $75 chef’s tasting menu tonight and it was just okay. The highlight was the cacio e pepe arancini and the grilled focaccia with the hummus. Sadly the mains (chicken and pasta) were mediocre, nothing too special especially at the price point I was expecting to be wow’d. For dessert, they served panna cotta with a sprinkle of pistachios and literal honey. My friends said they enjoyed it and it reminded them of a soft serve but to me it was not very well thought out, literally tasted like yogurt with honey (which can be made at home).
However, service was quite good considering we were in a big group. If the opportunity ever came up I would go again for their à la carte menu and give them another go.

This place will never be overrated. This is our second time dining at Mr Wong whilst visiting Sydney on separate occasions. I feel like the food is even better now. Everything was succulent and so tasty. The king crab fried rice, eggplant dish, sweet and sour pork hock were to die for. The waiter from Belgium was delightful and helpful. We'll definitely be back.

When you come in to the restaurant it looks amazing, it’s huge. They clearly specialize in ducks because there is so so many of them.
To start we had some beef puffs, they where lacking in flavor, they where my least liking dish.
We also had pork and prawn shu mai dumpling, they were the best iv ever had! Hands down.
The Xiaolongbao was amazing. I loved the dipping sauce of ginger and vinegar was perfect!
We then had half of peaking duck! It was so juicy and cooked to perfection,
We the. Had morning glory veggies. They were also cooked with lots of flavour. Very mild.
It’s not the cheapest food, as China town is not too far, however the food we did have was amazing!!!!

This place is a family fave of ours! It's always so busy here and I 💯 get why! The food here never disappoints! We always get the XO pipies and the Mr Wong's special friend rice so we can soak up all that mouthwateringly flavoursome sauce🤤 Also love the Dim sum platter whenever we're here for lunch. For dessert can't go pass the Mango Pudding! Love the modern take on one of my yum cha faves! It's so refreshing and I love the difference textures!
Also love the atmosphere and decor of this restaurant! The refurbishment of the building still keeps the industrial vibes but manages to feel warm and cosy with a lively bustling vibe as jazz music plays in the background!

Amazing Asian food in a fancy location.
Food: Amazing taste in very good quality and decent portions.
Ambiance: Very nice and sophisticated ambiance. However quite loud as it is very busy.
Service: Very friendly service, not the fastest, though.
Price: Certainly pricier than an average asian restaurant. The quality of the dishes puts the price into perspective.
Tips: Peking duck with pancakes and sweet and sour pork hocks.
Make a reservation at least a couple of days ahead to make sure you get a table.

The quality of food with fair price amazes me. My friend and I did enjoy the atmosphere, service and food a lot. I didn’t expect the restaurant is so popular even when we visited at 9pm, thought will be quite especially weekday. In fact, luckily we had seat to dine inside.
I will visit again!

I was really looking forward to visiting this bar and loved the atmosphere, design, and decor. The waitstaff was friendly and attentive, but they were extremely busy. I waited for over an hour for a non-alcoholic drink, which I had to follow up on three times. Meanwhile, everyone at my table received their drinks before me, even though they ordered cocktails, which I assumed would take longer to prepare. We also ordered nachos, and unfortunately, the guacamole lacked flavor. When my drink finally arrived, it was disappointing—if you don’t drink alcohol, I’d strongly recommend avoiding the Lyres Paloma. The management should reassess their weekend operations and consider adding more bartenders to handle the volume of customers.

Loved this place! Drinks, food and service was A++ but my only issue was how hot it was… we were all sweating up a storm. And also the state of the restroom… super dark shared bathroom near the bar, and it really needed a wipe down. Definitely will visit again though!

Stitch Bar absolutely delivered!
Tucked away with a cool, laid-back vibe, it was the perfect spot for a night out. Huge shoutout to Subha for the stellar food recommendations—the smash burger was juicy, flavorful, and hands-down one of the best I’ve had in Sydney. And those halloumi fries? Crispy on the outside, perfectly gooey inside—an instant favourite.
The drinks were just as impressive—refreshing, well-balanced, and served with a smile. The team really knows how to craft a great cocktail without overcomplicating it.
