Hokkaido Ramen Santouka delivers a consistently high-quality ramen experience. The broth is rich and well-balanced, with a depth of flavor that reflects careful preparation rather than excessive salt or oil. The signature shio ramen stands out for its clean, savory profile, and the pork is tender without being overly fatty.
Noodle texture is firm and complements the broth well. Portions are appropriate, and the overall presentation is simple but precise. Service is efficient, though it can feel slightly transactional during peak hours.
The space is compact and often busy, which may affect wait times, but turnover is relatively quick. Overall, a reliable choice for authentic Hokkaido-style ramen.

Food is good , but when I paid the bill, the waitress passed me the credit card machine, and she chose the 20%tip option for me. I had to asked her to change it back to the tip option menu. This kind of service it's unacceptable. No wonder Saku was full house but Hokkaido wasn't.

My family and I enjoy visiting Hokkaido Ramen Santouka on West Broadway in Vancouver. Reminiscent of my travels through Hokkaido and the Ainu village. Interesting ramen flavors change seasonally. Happy hour and combo specials available.

I honestly don't know what to expect when I walk into ramen joints across Vancouver. It's hit or miss. In this case it's a bit of a miss. The miso ramen was ok, it half looked like what the menu showed. No Narutomaki fish cakes came with my bowl even though it showed in the menu. The flavour wasn't dialled in either. It was average, and for the price I guess you can go to Danbo or Menya. Have a slightly better experience. Overall the ramen was average, and honestly a little expensive? - "ちょっと高い..." as some would say.

Had the black garlic ramen. Didnt like it very much. Too much noodle, not enough toppings. There were not enough textures in there and just overall bland and unbalanced.
I did like the service and atmosphere of the place though

I had a ok experience at Fatburger on Broadway and ordered a cheeseburger with chili fries.
The cheeseburger was good overall, but the beef patty itself did not seem to have much seasoning. It felt like the flavor relied mostly on the toppings rather than the burger patty. I think seasoning the patty a bit more would make a noticeable difference and really elevate the burger.
The chili fries were enjoyable, but the fries could have been cooked a little longer. Making them extra crispy would help prevent them from getting soggy once the chili is added, which would improve the texture and overall experience.
All in all, it was a solid meal and worth trying once. I don’t see myself coming again and I would have expected slightly better execution given the reputation. With a bit more attention to seasoning and crispiness, this location could be much better.

Wow, servers were kind and food was great. Every bite I took tasted great. Chili cheese fries hit the spot too, just a bit oily.

Yummy burger and great service! We came out of a physio and wanted something quick and this place was the closest food place. Turns out this was also the best burger and quickest service ever! Thank you, will come back again!

I ordered the original farburger (without a menu). It was good and generously garnished, but for 14.91$ I was expecting a more distinctive taste. To me, it felt like a decent, regular burger rather than something particularly special for the price. Additionally, the burger was fresh, hot, generously garnished and the ketchup was free!
The service was genuinely lovely, the waitress Jane was very kind and friendly, which I really appreciated!
One small thing I noticed when paying was that I didn’t see a no-tip option on the screen, though it’s possible I might have missed it.
Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience at all, but as a student, I think I would prefer to pay this price for a burger that stands out a bit more, or otherwise just go for something simpler like a BigMac menu.

I ordered the XL Double Fat Cheese with Coca-Cola and chips, and it was absolutely delicious! The burger was juicy and full of flavor, and the portion size was very generous definitely enough for one person, or even to share. The chips were crispy, and everything was served fresh. The price was reasonable and matched the quality and size of the meal. Great value for money! Highly recommend if you're craving a satisfying and tasty burger.

We book a big table for a group of 15 people, to celebrate 3 of my friend's birthday, they gave us a big room, so generous it's feels like a private room. The food were fantastic, and service were great. On top of that they did the extra job by serving the birthday cake with extra small plates. What a great professional service. The only drawback for us was there were very limited paid parking on the street. So I guess it'll be depend on what day and time , but Sunday lunch time was quite busy time. Anyway, thank you so much for your kind and friendly service, keep up the good work.

Came for Happy Hour. We got a table right away.
The waiter came pretty quick and got us waters.
We ordered the sunset soda which was yummy.
The Blackened chicken burger had the right amount of sauce and spice.
The fries were so delicious.
Too full for dessert

We called on a Friday afternoon at about 1:30. There was a great bustling atmosphere with a lot of workers out for lunch. Staff were very friendly and we were lucky to be seated without a wait. We noticed other people arriving shortly afterwards had to wait approximately 10 mins on a table. I went for the Thai Chicken curry with rice. The waiter asked if I wanted a half or full breast, I went for the full breast. I have been here a few times and was slightly confused as I have never been asked whether I wanted half or full breast, there is an additional $7:50 on top of the menu price if you choose a full breast, which isn’t mentioned in the menu pricing. Maybe it’s a new thing but the staff should inform the customer of the additional cost as the Menu doesn’t. Food was served and was excellent and delicious as always. This is a very well run restaurant/bar and the staff are very attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend this place, just be careful of add ons.

I order the lettuce wraps pretty consistently at this location and the Granville/broadway location, as they are both very close to my work at VGH.
This Ash location seems to be inconsistent with this specific meal.
Today I received my lettuce wraps, except only 1 piece of lettuce was actually usable for a wrap. This happens at this location more than not, it’s disappointing when I have to turn my meal into a salad. I attached photos of the lettuce I was supposedly meant to use for the wraps.
If I wanted a salad. I would order a salad 😢

If you know, you know, this Vancouver-born spot is best known for its stylish vibe, crowd-pleasing comfort food, and consistently solid cocktails. Started with some fun non-alcoholic mocktails that were anything but boring. The Tuna Stack (new on the menu) was a great opener—bright, fresh, and layered with a satisfying mix of flavours and textures. The Truffle Parmesan Chicken brought bold, savoury richness, while the Spaghetti Portofino was perfectly seasoned and indulgent in all the right ways. The crème brûlée was silky and not overly sweet. Casual, polished, and reliably tasty, Cactus Club does what it’s famous for: approachable dishes done well, with a side of West Coast flair
• Virgin Mojito - mint, fresh lime, sugar, soda
• Soul Revival - ginger beer, mango, lime, turmeric, jalapeno, thai basil
• Tuna Stack - Ocean Wise ahi, citrus tamari vinaigrette, nori, sesame, avocado, microgreens, wonton crisps
• Truffle Parmesan Chicken - parmesan crusted chicken breast, roasted and grilled mushrooms, potato gnocchi, truffle mushroom cream sauce, arugula
• Spaghetti Portofino - sauteed prawns, lobster lemon butter sauce, roasted gem tomatoes, corn, fennel chili crumb, garlic crostini
• London Fog Crème Brûlée - blueberries, brown sugar, vanilla

Fantastic ramen restaurant with incredible attention to detail. Everything from the presentation of the food to the quality of the ingredients reflected a commitment to excellence. The broth had a deep, complex flavor that clearly came from hours of preparation, and the noodles had the ideal texture. The toppings were generous and fresh, adding even more flavor and variety to the bowl. The staff provided excellent service throughout the visit, and the restaurant maintained a welcoming and energetic atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys authentic, well-prepared ramen.

Got recommendations from a fellow Japanese friend. For an appetizer, I started with zuke salmon, a sashimi salmon with a well-marinated sauce. It was refreshing and umami. For the main course, I picked kotteri shoyu ramen. The taste was okay; however, I didn't like the cut of their pork belly cha su; for me, it needs to be thinner.
For the drink, I ordered a warm sake, which is perfect for warming up your body on a chilly Vancouver fall day.

New to the area and have been searching for a regular ramen spot for the rainy days(& sunny ;) ). Came to Menya Raizo on a whim and a prayer and found exactly what I was looking for! The soup was delectable, the staff were pleasant and the speed out of this world! Soup was hot and the bowls were filled to the brim! Gyoza, mind blowing! So fresh and succulent. May as well have butchered the pig in the back! Pitchers of Sapporo flowed like waterfalls in a Kyosai woodcut, will return. Until then, I will be ronin.

This place is so authentic keep in mind that you do have to order in the front but when the food comes out, it’s just so amazing. I would say that the portion size is OK. The tacos are pretty small but they taste so good and are so fresh and so authentic that it makes up for the small size. They tasted really, really good. The fish tacos are a must try. The bean tacos are good, but I am not a fan of the mushroom tacos. The happy hour deals are really good too. If you’re looking to have a drink check out the pictures of the tacos that I posted.

Crazy! This dish was so nourishing AND super tasty! High quality ingredients cooked with care. A fresh beef broth with a marinated egg and a cheesy beef taco…. Mmmm. They split this place up to a day spot and an evening spot that features quality cocktails and proper Mexican cuisine. Always impressed with this buisness. BIG PATIO TOO! Enjoy 👌

Had a beef and chorizo burrito and pulled pork quesadillas at this lovely place. The hot sauce was spectacular: peppery, sweet-ish, not too hot and a little smoky. Sat outdoors because inside was full due to lunch time traffic but they had heaters above head so seating outdoors was a good and viable option.

Very tasty tacos. and cheap during happy hour too. Excellent service, and amazing staff - I forgot my candle at the restaurant, and one of the staff fan out with it and practically chased me down the street so I'd get it back. It was very kind of him.
Also the horchata was excellent. Definitely drinking again.

First off, the tacos are amazing.
The tortillas are super fresh, soft with just the right bit of crunch, and every taco we tried was full of flavour and cooked perfectly. You can tell they put real care into the food.
The space has a great vibe, clean and beautifully designed and the counter service keeps things fast and easy, but the experience still feels personal.
The staff are friendly, helpful, and happy to guide you through the menu if it’s your first time. You have to get the Mexican Coke, It’s got that classic flavour that pairs perfectly with the food.
This spot is the real deal. I’ll definitely be back often.

This place’s breakfast was phenomenal! We got here at 10am and were thankfully seated immediately. We ordered the I Want It All, Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Waffles, and 3 beignets. Got our food within 10 minutes and enjoyed it a lot. Their cinnamon bun pancakes were so soft and filling. I had their ketchup along with my tater tots as well and have to say that was the best ketchup I’ve had.
Only qualm I had at Yolks was the fact that one of the washrooms did not lock.
Aside from that, this is a place I’d come back to try the rest of their menu.

This Yolks is much more compact than the one that used to be in Hastings St. The breakfast meal was great tasting for under $20. I had the awesome tasting scrambled eggs with chives, the lemon potatoes, and the artisanal multigrain toast. The meal came with fruit (watermelon, orange, and grape) and a delicious grilled tomato. The portion size was very generous. Staff were fast and friendly, and the place had a nice busy vibe to it.

I made a takeout order so my review is just regarding the food itself. I ordered the Las Vegas Roll, Sweet Mango Paradise Roll, Crunch Cali roll. The rolls here were just ok, especially given Vancouver standards and considering the higher price ($8.95 for California roll). There definitely wasn't any fresh mangos on top of the Sweet Mango Paradise roll as described, only a slightly sour mango sauce, ebi, and tobiko which made the roll taste more mildy sour and not sweet. The Crunch Cali roll is a deep fried California roll but wasn't well executed and was somewhat bland. The Las Vegas roll was probably the better roll out of the three. Probably due to the sauces that weren't even drizzled on the rolls consistently. I'm sad to say there are genuinely better versions of these rolls elsewhere.

$20.95 tax incl. make your own bowl - Atlantic salmon & albacore tuna.
~Good poké, nothing special or worth complaining about.
However I will say that it would be nice if the staff in these restaurants that make your food from the ingredients in front of you could wear masks to prevent spit from getting on the meal.
I would be completely ok with having to strain a bit to hear what they’re saying, instead of having to eat food with stranger’s spit in it.

Their Coast bowl is my go-to! The salmon is always so fresh and the toppings/sauces are so tasty. I noticed they make everything in house including all their toppings (ie no canned fruits etc) and they also chop fresh avocado for my bowl every time :) They have daily rotating specials too.

Delicious food.
Affordable price.
You'd think the quality and presentation for the take-out order wouldn't be as nice as for dine-in order, but nope! 💯 Very impressed. Will definitely visit more often.

Went to Sushi Dragon for takeout and had a great experience. I let them know we were celiac and needed everything to be gluten-free, and they were extremely helpful.
When ordering the platter, I also mentioned a shellfish allergy, and they were very accommodating with substitutions for shrimp and scallops. The food tasted fresh and was very flavorful.
They even had gluten-free soy sauce available, and the staff were friendly while I waited. Overall, it was a lot of food for the price.
Would definitely go again.

This is located in the Food Fair so atmosphere is food fair.
The food is a lot. Picture is half of what’s left from lunch..
Typical Cha Chan Tan menu. They also have Party Trays. While waiting for our food, we saw different groups picking up their party trays.
We waited for about 10 minutes for the food to be ready which is reasonable.
If you park at the mall, you can get your parking stub stamped for 90 minutes.

I like this food court especially before either gets busy. Ordered baked pork chop rice Hong Kong Style. Delicious and generous portion, a thick piece of meat. The milk tea was flavourful. Thank you for the satisfying lunch. Note: Personal preference, the aluminum container was very hot that got out from the oven.. I'm sure they've cooled it down before handing it out. I would suggest to use wooden fork and knife. They provided plastic.

I think this is one of the heavily anticipated entries in the food court of City Square. For years, I've seen how quiet this food court has been. But when we visited this past April, we noticed the food court was actually really busy.
We picked up an order of beef chow fun (pan fried flat rice noodles with beef). It was pretty good. I did notice that some of the noodles were not fully covered in sauce. But otherwise it was fine.
UPDATE - December 2025: Returned for a revisit and got the Curry Beef Brisket on Rice ($18). Nice that they keep the rice in a separate container so that the curry sauce doesn't get soaked up. It was a lot of rice but it was needed to sop up all that yummy curry. Kinda tasted like the kind of fast-food curry sauce and a bit sweet but I liked it as it was comforting and the beef was tender.
UPDATE - February 2026: Ordered the Curry Pork Chop on Spaghetti with Cold Lemon Tea. The curry dishes seem to be all the same with that tasty and slightly spicy yellow curry sauce. Kind of dangerous eating it because the sauce gets everywhere.

This is a new location after their original West Broadway location was closed.
Although I missed the days watching sports at their original location, this new one is highly efficient. We have been here a few times and their service is always quick. Food is quite decent and price is fair.
For example, French toast is just like what it should be, crispy but not dry.
For sandwiches, they can toast it for you. We had the pork chop one.
Drinks are consistently good quality.
We will come back for their new items.
Having them in the food court makes me like City Square Mall more.

After closing their Broadway location and reopen in City Center food court. The food still in quality and authentic in HK style. Their black pepper sauce steak rice and satay pineapple bun are high recommend. I can’t find any other HK cafe a better black pepper sauce than here. Their price is very decent and gave two big pieces of steak on rice. The pineapple bun is huge and baked before serving. I had a mouth full satay beef which is delicious. Highly recommend and their food will not disappoint you.
