Metro Vancouver boasts over 7000 restaurants including some of the best Chinese restaurants in the world. In order to qualify for our recommendation, a restaurant must be within a few blocks of a SkyTrain station and receive consistently above average reviews. Many of our recommendations are also based on our personal dining experiences in Vancouver.
A growing phenomenon in downtown Vancouver, is the addition of food carts scattered throughout the downtown area. The longstanding JapaDog carts have commanded lunch hour lineups for years but more recently, the city has decided to license a substantial number of new food cart vendors. There are many fantastic new offerings on the streets of Vancouver — Tacofino, KaboomBox, Fresh Local Wild, and Re-Up BBQ. Street carts are a great place to grab a quick bite while you are sightseeing. Friendly on the wallet, many of the food offerings are extremely tasty and well prepared. A visiting food critic from the UK was quoted in the Guardian describing Vancouver street food as the best in the world. Also, Canada's top chef recently gave many of the offerings very high ratings.
We haven't included national fast-food franchises in our recommendations. You're probably familiar with their offerings and there's no shortage of them. Keep in mind most Shopping Centres listed on our site have food court. Many also have one or more stand alone restaurants.
