We went on 11/28/2025 as my friend goes here often and I am glad he suggested. I had not been to a Cactus Club Cafe in many years. Our server Lois was amazing, she was fun to talk with and was quick any requests. I asked for a suggestion and between 2 items she said to have the Butternut Squash Ravioli with Prawns. I am so happy that I went with it as it was amazing and so well balanced for flavors. It probably took me about 30 minutes to eat as I savored each bite and wanted it linger before the next bite.
The starter was Wagyu Beef Carpaccio and this was in my top 3 I have ever had. Perfectly balanced each flavor complementing each other, as the capers just elevated the experience to near perfection.
The wine was perfect for the meal it did not over power and enhanced the Carpaccio as a pallet cleanser between bites.
My friend had the Six Layer Chocolate Slice, I tried and for me personally it was too rich and intense as someone that likes bold and balanced not a flavor punch to the face. However if like my friend and that is what you like than this is 1000% for you.
Over all the vibe, the service the food it has me wanting to go back and I generally avoid downtown on weekends, but I would do it for this amazing experience to be had again.

Came here for happy hour one day. The food and drinks were great and prices were very reasonable. Service was excellent. We got prawn crunch roll and ravioli and prawn trio. When we mentioned birthday, they gave us a free birthday dessert which was a surprise. Had a lovely experience and will definitely come again.

A memorable meal! Went here for my husband's birthday while we were also visiting Vancouver for the first time. One of the most enjoyable meals we've splurged on - ever. Starting with drinks of Madri beer and De Nada Limonada, delicious crab and spinach dip with big tortilla chips, our entrees were a healthy colourful Med Bowl with falafel and Soy Dijon salmon, finished with desserts of London Fog creme brûlée and chocolate peanut butter crunch bar which my husband loved as his birthday treat. All absolutely delicious! Attentive service. Would definitely recommend and return one day.

We did not have any wait luckily because we had reservation online, but as we were exiting there were over 20 people waiting outside the restaurant.
Overall I'd give it a 4/5 stars.
One star missing for the food quality, it's not super high but it's good for the price you're paying.
The value is great considering you get to order 3 rounds and there's no limit to how many items you order per round, but you do need to finish what's on your table to avoid getting a penalty.
Our favourite item was the fried scallops.
The dining environment was comfortable as well, despite being a bit loud.
Service was decent, and speedy.
I'd come back here again!

Amazing all-you-can-eat experience with fresh, high-quality food. It’s really fun and interactive since you get to barbecue your own meats right at the table — definitely part of the experience! If you enjoy hands-on dining, this place is perfect. They also have cooked options if you’d rather just relax and eat. Great service, delicious food, and an overall fun atmosphere that makes every visit enjoyable.

This was my first time at Shabusen, and I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical about the whole AYCE (all-you-can-eat) concept in Vancouver. That skepticism disappeared quickly.
From the moment we walked in, the service stood out. Every staff member—from the host to the food runners—was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. No rushed attitudes, no frowns. They even swapped out our BBQ grill without us asking, which was a nice surprise. Food came out fast, and empty plates were cleared away efficiently, keeping our table fresh and uncluttered.
I originally came here just for the salmon sashimi, but ended up trying a wide range of dishes—and loved them all. The quality of the food exceeded expectations, and the variety made it even better.
If you can, I recommend coming for dinner. The price is a bit higher, but you get nearly double the menu choices compared to lunch, making it well worth it. Definitely a spot I’d return to.

I’ve had such fond memories of this place since this was one of the first restaurants I got to visit after immigrated here, and I’m so glad to see that it’s still doing well and held up in comparison to the version I have in my head 🥲💛
We arrived on Labour Day evening, and boy was it CROW-DED. The restaurant was completely full with three parties ahead of us when we walked in at around 7:30 PM, but the servers and the host hustled and we ended up only waiting for about 10-15 minutes.
The cleanliness of the place was not the best (especially the bathroom), but other than that, I felt like the restaurant had really stepped up its food quality and service since I visited last (about 4 years ago??).
The salmon in the spicy sashimi was soooo buttery and smooth. My partner and I were both so shocked by its quality at an AYCE restaurant. The meats that we ordered for the BBQ were extremely flavorful and well marinated. No additional sauce was needed. The cones were wrapped in an aromatic seaweed wrap and all the fried stuff came out steaming hot. The only complaint we have is the lack of noodle offering, even just yakisoba noodles as my partners loves them with his BBQ lol.
I’m so glad I didn’t overhype this place for my partner (he’s never been and I’ve been yapping about this place for years)!!

I celebrated my birthday here, and from the very beginning our server, Stephan, was a true gentleman—so helpful and kind.
We had the burrata salad, salmon flatbread, and broche bread—everything was great, and the flatbread was definitely the highlight. The roasted chicken and fish dishes were also delicious.
Stephan truly made my night brighter with the coconut cake. And by the way, the white chocolate raspberry cake is awesome!

We had a pretty large party and coast was gracious enough to give us their private room. Overall the food was very good. We got oysters to start and a nice wine to pair it with. I also got the steak and crab cakes to start. Everything was very tasty. Only knocking it down a star because it took a very long time for us to get our food. It was a weeknight and wasn’t too busy so we were surprised at how long it took. Overall it was a great dining experience though and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

The striploin is really good with the red wine jus. The best buffet main meat I’ve had. The sushi station was very impressive. They had really good poke as well with avocado or mango. They had California rolls with a really nice mango sauce and other nice things. Except that the bluefin tuna sushi was stuffed with rice (see picture). The tiramisu was pretty good but was visually unappealing. It wouldn’t matter except that there was no label.
I think the eggs Benny should have more hollandaise but was decent.
The items were mislabelled a lot. Tiramisu had no label, salmon was labelled as striploin, pasta missing labels, the cheesecake was labelled as carrot cake, etc

Wonderful options & extremely personable and friendly servers.
Especially Peter! He is truly amazing & I love how he builds connection with the customers.
The food itself is splendid – every time I try something new and love it. Can't believe I've never tried carpaccio before I came here!
Bless you all for your hard work & reputable service! And, shout out to Deepak, the wonderful pastry chef who never fails to bring something amazing to the table.

I've been to Hy's twice now and they've never disappointed. A warm, lively, intimate atmosphere, exceptionally polite, informative and skilled waitstaff (more on that later) and a wide selection of delicious entrées. The tableside preparation is a unique and exciting option, as waiters here will literally make your meal right besides you. I recommended the caesar salad, steak Diane and the bananas foster in particular. The drinks are quite varied as well and I particularly enjoy their takes on classic cocktails. The best restaurant for steak in Vancouver!

Came here after many years. It’s still a dark dungeon of a restaurant with no light or windows. Service is great, food is well prepared and on point. The rack of lamb is حالال. Sides and desserts are good. It is too pricey overall for what you get. I’d prefer Elisa or Black and Blue if I had a choice. The Whistler Hy’s is on another level compared to this location.

Hy’s Steakhouse delivers a classic fine-dining experience done right. The steaks are perfectly cooked, rich in flavor, and clearly high quality. Service is attentive without hovering, and the atmosphere feels timeless elegant, calm, and ideal for a special evening or business dinner. Everything runs smoothly here, from the first greeting to the last bite. A place that knows exactly what it is and executes it consistently well.

We decided to have the whole old-school dining experience at Hy’s steakhouse and it didn’t disappoint. We got their classic cheese toast which was quite addictive and yummy, the caesar salad and Steak Diane prepared tableside (quite the pre-dinner entertainment by themselves), the Steak Neptune , Cream Spinach and a nice bottle of red to go with the meal. Benjamin who was assigned to our table was very attentive and professional and he also prepared the two tableside dishes perfectly. The salad and especially the Diane steak were delicious! The bill was hefty but worth it for a special occasion.

It’s my friends first time visiting Van and I booked this restaurant for dinner, and I had to say it did not disappoint! Our server, Andrew, was super sweet and very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations!
For food, we ordered Caesar salad and a steak on their special menu to share. The salad was def the best Caesar salad I have ever had (so garlicky and flavorful and you got to watch your server make the whole salad in front of you!). The steak was cooked perfectly, not too tender or hard, just perfectly medium-well. For dessert, we ordered bananas foster and it’s so delicious (again, you got to watch your server cook it in front of you and there was a fire show for this dessert🤩).
I will bring other friends back here when I’m visiting next time for sure!

Hawksworth Restaurant has always been one of the most highly praised restaurants in the past decade, if not longer. Sadly, that is no longer the case after a recent visit. Dishes are no longer sent out with quality control, poor ingredient combinations, and there is a lack of aesthetics just to name a few.
When the server brought the first dish, Prosciutto di san daniele with pickled vegetables, it was an embarrassing moment for me in front of my guests. No one wanted this extremely low quality meat and vegetables paired with unappetizing plating until the table was halfway cleared.
The beets dish was sprinkled with cumin, pork collar was cooked in a sweet soy sauce that is similar to the Chinese dish braised pork. Since when did Hawksworth become a fusion restaurant? If I wanted fusion food, there are plenty of places elsewhere to visit at a much better price.
Beef carpaccio was not fresh, fries that came with the burger were stale, scallops were too salty, and the duck confit was dry. The best dish that day was the baby kale salad.
Why did I not bring these issues up with the server? Because it would be impossible to fix any of these problems without proper management at the establishment, and I do not care how the business runs in the future.
The Hawksworth Group just lost a customer who used to buy thousands of dollars in gift cards. After the remaining balance is used, it will be a forever goodbye to Hawksworth Restaurant and all of its other businesses under his name.

An Unforgettable Christmas Celebration
We celebrated both Christmas dinner and a birthday at Hawksworth, and it was truly a special evening. The tasting menu was exceptional – each course was beautifully executed and thoughtfully composed.
What made the experience stand out was the impeccable service and pacing. The staff were wonderful and accommodating, ensuring our celebration felt personal and memorable. The timing between courses was perfect, allowing us to savor each dish without feeling rushed.
Every element came together to create an evening we’ll remember. From the refined cuisine to the attentive service, Hawksworth delivered the elevated dining experience we hoped for on such a meaningful night.
Highly recommended for special occasions when you want everything to be just right.

Hawksworth Restaurant was the perfect choice to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. My wife and I loved the cozy, warm atmosphere and the beautifully decorated space. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, and the sommelier did an excellent job helping us select a wine that perfectly complemented our meal. The salmon tartare, risotto, and mixed green salad were all delicious, and the pork and scallops were an absolute 10/10. A beautiful restaurant and an unforgettable dining experience. We are so glad we went.

From the start of our venue search, Hawksworth stood out. We loved the York Room - it perfectly fit our vision for a small, intimate wedding. The space was clean, crisp, and had a timeless, classy feel that made it the perfect backdrop for our day.
Emily was our first contact and was incredibly helpful, friendly, and informative, which made planning easy. Later, Marlen took over and provided exceptional support - she was attentive, responsive, and really cared about making sure everything was just right. Her guidance helped reduce any stress and made the whole process enjoyable.
We went with a minimalist decor theme, but the York Room was still beautifully set up, and the atmosphere matched exactly what we imagined. Bryson did a fantastic job leading the reception that evening and even helped organize the tea for our simplified tea ceremony. The food was delicious, and we received so many compliments from our guests on the venue, service, food, and drinks. Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.
We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or team for our wedding reception. Hawksworth and its staff exceeded our expectations in every way, and we are so grateful for their part in making our day so unforgettable.

I had high hopes for this place but we got kind of disappointed.
Terrible service and poor attention to our physically disabled guest.
The food overall was very good, with some real highlights. The brioche was outstanding, easily one of the best parts of the meal and absolutely worth mentioning. The chicken
was also delicious and well prepared, and dessert was truly out of this world. A fantastic way to end the evening.
That said, there were a few disappointments. The calamari tasted like it had been frozen, chopped up, and heavily salted rather than freshly prepared. The mac and cheese sticks were also very underwhelming and not what we expected from a restaurant of this caliber.
Service at reception was another downside. We had booked our table weeks in advance, yet were still made to wait about 30 minutes at the front before being seated, which took away from the overall experience. We had told them about someone in our party that was disabled and they made sure we got the farthest table on the second floor.
With some improvements to consistency and reservation handling, this could easily be an exceptional dining experience.

We ended up at Black + Blue last minute after the restaurant I originally planned for my mom's birthday was closed. I have been here before, but the food and service this time were especially impressive.
I booked a happy hour reservation on the way and selected "birthday" without thinking much of it. As soon as we walked in, the staff greeted us and wished my mom a happy birthday. We were seated on the rooftop in a comfortable booth, and everything from that point on was smooth and welcoming.
Our server Marco did an exceptional job. In many higher end restaurants the service can feel a bit formal, but Marco was friendly, genuine, and thoughtful. He showed us different cuts of Canadian steak and made my mom feel truly special.
We ordered the New York steak with peppercorn sauce, fries, brussels sprouts (my favorite dish), fried chicken, two sliders, and calamari. It was plenty for four people. They also surprised my mom with a complimentary birthday cake that was warm and delicious, and we shared a Black Forest cake as well.
This last minute change of plans turned into a wonderful celebration. Thank you to Marco and the team at Black + Blue for making my mom's birthday memorable.

★★★★★ 5/5 – Exceptional Experience at Black+Blue Vancouver
We had an outstanding dining experience at Black+Blue in Vancouver. From the moment we arrived, the service was impressive. We started our evening at the bar, and the bartenders set the tone with warm hospitality and excellent service that was attentive, friendly, and quick without ever feeling rushed.
Once seated for dinner, the experience only got better. Ryan H provided truly exceptional service: professional, personable, and incredibly knowledgeable. He anticipated what we needed before we even asked, and his attention to detail elevated the entire meal.
The Manager, Jason, also made a point of checking in on us, which we really appreciated. Their attentiveness and genuine care added a thoughtful touch that made us feel valued throughout the evening.
As for the food, it was cooked to absolute perfection. Each dish was flavorful, beautifully prepared, and delivered exactly as ordered.
Overall, Black+Blue delivered an unforgettable night with top-tier service and perfectly executed dishes. We’ll definitely be returning!

If you’re looking for instagramable worthy food pictures of one of the most delicious foods Vancouver has to offer, it’s here.
First off the dining area and decor is spotless and modern. The ambiance is incredibly invigorating. The service here exceeded my expectations and I’ve returned many times.
The food quality is very premium and has a high standard. I’ve never had the opportunity to ever experience brunch here yet, because of my schedule. But I would obviously love to someday.

We had 'Christmas Eve 2025' reservations for the the set menu at Showcase Restaurant & Bar in the Vancouver Marriott Pinnacle, beautifully situated in the heart of Coal Harbour—one of the city's more modern neighbourhoods. With marina views, walkable waterfront, and polished city energy, Coal Harbour reflects why Vancouver is regarded as a world-class global destination. The experience was impeccable from the moment we arrived, from the attentive coat check to the gracious service throughout the evening. The Christmas décor was elegant, highlighted by a magnificent Christmas tree and even a charming hot cocoa cart. Beginning with the goat cheese and pear salad with walnuts, I enjoyed a classic turkey dinner with generous cranberries for my main course. I finished with a delightful hand crafted matcha Christmas tree for dessert. Washed down with natural strawberry lemonade, this evening was festive dining perfected. I love the Marriott family of hotels, and experiences like this are why I always come back.

Our server Aimee was attentive and very responsive to questions. She made the dining experience comfortable and enjoyable. The butter chicken and chicken wings are Halal fyi. Would recommend the soy garlic chicken wings with the garlic based prawn scampi. They provide appropriate sized appetizers and mains easily shared between two. They also have non alcoholic drinks as well so I opted for the watermelon spritz which is really refreshing on a hot day. Overall 5/5 experience 😌

Although the prices were on the high side, it definitely was worth it. Each dish was well balanced and well presented. The attention to detail of each dish was much appreciated. Would definitely return to this wonderful downtown restaurant.

The food was really delicious and the atmosphere was great. The service was amazing as well. We went with the teriyaki combo which comes with beef, chicken, veges /shrimp. Came here to celebrate our anniversary and they were super nice and provided us with a complimentary ice cream. While it was delicious it is also expensive. It was 60$ per person for the meal and I wasn’t completely full, that is not taking away from the whole experience as I thought it was great but just fyi. Would still recommend for special occasions!

The food here is always awesome and flavourful. My only gripe is the steak and lobster are always served diced up. I like my steak as a slab and my lobster as a slab. I love the show presentation of them cooking the food and sometimes sitting with strangers can be fun… or annoying.

Surprisingly having lived in the surrounding areas of Vancouver, 50+years. This was my first time to Kobes. I have always heard great experiences from others. I brought my girlfriend, daughter & some. Celebrating 5 years with my GF & daughters 18th birthday.
Very nice warm ambiance, amazing staff. The chefs are next level.
Being a Sat. evening, it was quite busy. Definitely make reservations. This is a very social atmosphere. So if your looking for something more private, intimate. I'd go elsewhere. Our chef Sho was very personable & entertaining. Glad to have checked Kobes off the restaurant bucket list. I know it's very popular and if your a tourist. It's a must.

The food overall is very good. The ultimate is a wonderful set with a good assortment of seafood, beef, chicken and veggies. The shellfish is the star for me. Especially the scallops.
I have been getting the wagyu over the years and since 1 or 2 years ago, it has worsened in quality. Before it used to be an amazing blend of meat and fat where the meat was incredibly soft. I just went and it’s now more like just fat with random bits of meat. Kobe used to be my favourite place to eat wagyu and now it is no longer. The wagyu I just had is less valuable than their filet mignon.

Kobe’s Japanese Steakhouse is truly a one-of-a-kind dining experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere set the tone. It was lively, welcoming and full of energy. The hibachi experience was incredible. I loved watching the chefs cook right in front of us. You can tell they take pride in their craft with the fire show, knife tricks, and funny jokes. They kept everyone laughing and smiling the whole time. The food was also amazing with everything being cooked to perfection. Overall, Kobe’s delivers on all fronts: great food, great service, and an unforgettable atmosphere. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want a fun night out, this is the place to go! I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. I’ll definitely be coming back again soon!
