Employees were phenomenal and very welcoming, the food was delicious and our glasses were always kept full. 5 Star Rating We went on 11/28/2025 as my friend goes here often and I am glad he suggested. I had not been to a Cactus Club Cafe in many years. Our server Lois was amazing, she was fun to talk with and was quick any requests. I asked for a suggestion and between 2 items she said to have the Butternut Squash Ravioli with Prawns. I am so happy that I went with it as it was amazing and so well balanced for flavors. It probably took me about 30 minutes to eat as I savored each bite and wanted it linger before the next bite. The starter was Wagyu Beef Carpaccio and this was in my top 3 I have ever had. Perfectly balanced each flavor complementing each other, as the capers just elevated the experience to near perfection. The wine was perfect for the meal it did not over power and enhanced the Carpaccio as a pallet cleanser between bites. My friend had the Six Layer Chocolate Slice, I tried and for me personally it was too rich and intense as someone that likes bold and balanced not a flavor punch to the face. However if like my friend and that is what you like than this is 1000% for you. Over all the vibe, the service the food it has me wanting to go back and I generally avoid downtown on weekends, but I would do it for this amazing experience to be had again.

5 Star Rating Came here for happy hour one day. The food and drinks were great and prices were very reasonable. Service was excellent. We got prawn crunch roll and ravioli and prawn trio. When we mentioned birthday, they gave us a free birthday dessert which was a surprise. Had a lovely experience and will definitely come again.

5 Star Rating A memorable meal! Went here for my husband's birthday while we were also visiting Vancouver for the first time. One of the most enjoyable meals we've splurged on - ever. Starting with drinks of Madri beer and De Nada Limonada, delicious crab and spinach dip with big tortilla chips, our entrees were a healthy colourful Med Bowl with falafel and Soy Dijon salmon, finished with desserts of London Fog creme brûlée and chocolate peanut butter crunch bar which my husband loved as his birthday treat. All absolutely delicious! Attentive service. Would definitely recommend and return one day.

5 Star Rating My girlfriend and I came to Shabusen Yakiniku House for the all-you-can-eat option and chose the Korean BBQ, and it was an awesome experience. It was her first time ever doing Korean BBQ, so I really wanted it to be somewhere memorable—and Shabusen absolutely delivered. The quality of the food was excellent, especially for all you can eat. Everything tasted fresh, well-marinated, and came out quickly. Our absolute favourite was the short rib. It was incredibly tender, flavorful, and easily the standout dish of the night. Watching the meat cook right at the table made the whole experience fun and interactive, which was perfect for a first-timer. The variety of options meant we could try a little bit of everything without feeling rushed. The atmosphere was lively but still comfortable, making it a great spot for a date or a casual night out. Overall, the food, experience, and value made this a place we’d happily return to. If you’re looking to try Korean BBQ—especially for the first time—Shabusen Yakiniku House is a fantastic choice.

4 Star Rating We did not have any wait luckily because we had reservation online, but as we were exiting there were over 20 people waiting outside the restaurant. Overall I'd give it a 4/5 stars. One star missing for the food quality, it's not super high but it's good for the price you're paying. The value is great considering you get to order 3 rounds and there's no limit to how many items you order per round, but you do need to finish what's on your table to avoid getting a penalty. Our favourite item was the fried scallops. The dining environment was comfortable as well, despite being a bit loud. Service was decent, and speedy. I'd come back here again!

4 Star Rating Amazing all-you-can-eat experience with fresh, high-quality food. It’s really fun and interactive since you get to barbecue your own meats right at the table — definitely part of the experience! If you enjoy hands-on dining, this place is perfect. They also have cooked options if you’d rather just relax and eat. Great service, delicious food, and an overall fun atmosphere that makes every visit enjoyable.

5 Star Rating This was my first time here and not disappointed at all. Peter was an excellent host and made my mother’s bday special. We felt cared for and appreciated. The Dine out experience provides a decent amount of food for $65, they also do an add on option but we were too full from our appetizer. Everything was fresh and delicious! Will definitely be coming back 😊

5 Star Rating A friend of mine told me that I would definitely like this restaurant. Normally his recommendations don’t always hit the mark, but this time he exceeded all my expectations. I came for lunch, and it was absolutely amazing — truly outstanding. The quality of the ingredients is exceptional, you can really taste it. The restaurant layout is very interesting and extremely stylish, with a chic, elegant atmosphere throughout. The staff were wonderful: the hostesses were very kind and welcoming and took the time to show me around, and the service was warm and attentive. And the food — simply magical. I ate far more than I planned, but every bite was worth it. Everything was absolutely, genuinely outstanding. I highly, highly recommend visiting this place. If I had known about this lunch a week earlier, I would have come every single day.

4 Star Rating This wasn’t our first time at Coast, and I remember really enjoying everything during our previous visit. We returned for Dine Out Vancouver, and while it was overall a lovely evening, there were a few details worth mentioning. The setting remains absolutely stunning, elegant, upscale, and the kind of place that feels special the moment you walk in. We were seated at a great table, the sushi platter add-on was delicious, and everything arrived on time and at the proper temperature. A special shout-out for the complimentary warm banana coconut cake! It truly saved the day and ended the evening on a high note. For the main course, we ordered the surf and turf, and flavour-wise, both the steak and lobster tasted heavenly. Unfortunately, the striploin included several tough pieces of connective tissue that were impossible to chew, which I had to discreetly remove and hide. For a restaurant of this level, this felt a bit below what I imagine their usual standard to be, and I would have expected a more carefully trimmed or rendered premium cut. Service-wise, we were a little surprised not to be asked about our preferred steak doneness. When we followed up, we were told the surf and turf is served medium-rare by default, which was perfectly fine, but a brief heads-up would typically be expected. The wine pairing was noted on the menu, which we only noticed after ordering our drinks, so while that part was on us, it would have been nice if it had been mentioned by our server. We also weren’t offered fresh cracked pepper and assumed it was intentional, so we didn’t request it but I would have enjoyed it. Overall, everything we tasted was genuinely very good, but a few quality and service details felt slightly below what I imagine their regular standard to be during the Dine Out festival. Coast is still a fantastic restaurant, and we’ll absolutely be back for their regular menu. For future Dine Out festivals, though, we’ll likely explore a few new spots we haven’t yet had the chance to try, we had some wonderful experiences this year! Four stars for the beautiful atmosphere and that unforgettable dessert.

4 Star Rating Seating is limited to the upstairs while the main floor is undergoing renovations. The ambiance is modern and chic. The service professionals are exactly that. Andrew took care of us as we didn't even look at the menu. We started with cheesy cheese bread which was definitely cheesy but more like a a fancy grilled cheese sandwich. The ceasar salad prepared at the table was old school and classic. The thirty two oz prime rib was delicious and cooked perfectly, while the mashed potatoes and roasted mushrooms were tasty but not overwhelming. The presentation of my plate was nothing special. Dessert was rich, velvety and tasty. Coffee was adequate. Overall the service (Andrew) was excellent and the food was tasty. Prices are more on the higher side but not shocking. I would most likely return when the main floor has reopened.

5 Star Rating Went in for a solo night and it was EXACTLY what I needed. Point blank. It was a classic, cozy, dim lighting, and instantly feels like a treat. I ordered a mezcal sour (my go-to) and it was perfection…froth all over my lips and everything LOL!! You know it’s good when you take a delicious sip and instead of got milk, it’s got froth? HA love! Food was incredible too. Steak cooked just the way I like it, and the whole plate was just so satisfying. But honestly, the service is what made the night! Blown away by the outgoing, genuinely kind, and they checked in a lot without it ever feeling annoying. They made eating alone feel easy and actually really enjoyable. Nailed it Hy’s!!

5 Star Rating We had the most incredible experience at Hy's Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar celebrating my brother’s birthday! From the moment we walked in, everything felt special, warm atmosphere, attentive service, and amazing food. Chris, our server, was fantastic, friendly, knowledgeable, and made the whole night feel effortless and celebratory. Truly top-notch service. We shared a variety of dishes and every single one was outstanding. The famous cheese toast absolutely lived up to the hype, and the Caesar salad prepared right at the table was such a fun (and delicious) experience. The black & blue ahi tuna was perfectly done, and the jumbo prawn cocktail was fresh and full of flavour. For mains, the long bone Berkshire pork chop with mashed potatoes and bourbon apple reduction was unbelievably tender and rich (photo added!), and the 8oz filet was cooked to perfection. We finished with the bananas foster, flambéed tableside and served with vanilla ice cream, which was the perfect sweet ending. I also had the Red Beret to drink and it was amazing, highly recommend! Everything from the food to the service to the overall atmosphere made this such a memorable celebration. We’ll absolutely be back!

4 Star Rating Came here after many years. It’s still a dark dungeon of a restaurant with no light or windows. Service is great, food is well prepared and on point. The rack of lamb is حالال. Sides and desserts are good. It is too pricey overall for what you get. I’d prefer Elisa or Black and Blue if I had a choice. The Whistler Hy’s is on another level compared to this location.

5 Star Rating I've been to Hy's twice now and they've never disappointed. A warm, lively, intimate atmosphere, exceptionally polite, informative and skilled waitstaff (more on that later) and a wide selection of delicious entrées. The tableside preparation is a unique and exciting option, as waiters here will literally make your meal right besides you. I recommended the caesar salad, steak Diane and the bananas foster in particular. The drinks are quite varied as well and I particularly enjoy their takes on classic cocktails. The best restaurant for steak in Vancouver!

4 Star Rating Dining at Hawksworth was a delicious and pleasant experience. All the staff were super welcoming and professional. All the food I ordered was cooked to well with a highlight being the carrot cake for dessert. 3 Star Rating We ordered beef carpaccio and Sunday prime rib dinner. The beef carpaccio was extremely small and had barely any beef. Prime rib was a little chewy and the broccolini that came as a side tasted burnt. Both my partner and I agreed that the keg prime rib was significantly better than this. The food looked way better than it tasted. The atmosphere and service were good. Nice wait staff.

2 Star Rating Hawksworth Restaurant has always been one of the most highly praised restaurants in the past decade, if not longer. Sadly, that is no longer the case after a recent visit. Dishes are no longer sent out with quality control, poor ingredient combinations, and there is a lack of aesthetics just to name a few. When the server brought the first dish, Prosciutto di san daniele with pickled vegetables, it was an embarrassing moment for me in front of my guests. No one wanted this extremely low quality meat and vegetables paired with unappetizing plating until the table was halfway cleared. The beets dish was sprinkled with cumin, pork collar was cooked in a sweet soy sauce that is similar to the Chinese dish braised pork. Since when did Hawksworth become a fusion restaurant? If I wanted fusion food, there are plenty of places elsewhere to visit at a much better price. Beef carpaccio was not fresh, fries that came with the burger were stale, scallops were too salty, and the duck confit was dry. The best dish that day was the baby kale salad. Why did I not bring these issues up with the server? Because it would be impossible to fix any of these problems without proper management at the establishment, and I do not care how the business runs in the future. The Hawksworth Group just lost a customer who used to buy thousands of dollars in gift cards. After the remaining balance is used, it will be a forever goodbye to Hawksworth Restaurant and all of its other businesses under his name.

5 Star Rating I went for happy hour at 5pm. You can only sit on the patio or lounge for happy hour. Restaurant seating is not available if you want to order their happy hour menu. Fridays are best with $2 oysters and half price bubbles. Definitely worth it. The dozen of oysters was so worth it. Super fresh and sweet. Fanny bay oysters were very large and meaty. Worth the $2 a piece. Tempura oysters were delicious. Oysters were fresh and the batter was so light. Very well done at $10 happy hour pricing. Beef carpaccio is well seasoned. Maybe a bit small for the price even at happy hour. Beets were delicious. The sauce paired well with the sweet beets. Truffle fries are not memorable. Fries are a bit hard after frying. Had two cocktails. The one with ginger beer was delicious. Well worth the price and so tasty. Hawksworth cocktail was okay. Still tasty but the one with ginger beer was better. Overall, I enjoy the food at Hawksworth. Would come again to try another menu.

3 Star Rating ‼️‼️‼️DILEMMA‼️‼️‼️ This review will be a tricky one🧐 First thing first, I really like the layout, design and atmosphere of this restaurant. Second, the service was OK but I like the service I had at Riley’s(both times) and GLOWBAL better. Now for the food. I don’t think what I ate tonight does this restaurant justice. My meal was a set dinner my Banker gifted us (very grateful). -Appetizer:Beef Carpaccio 3/5 (cheese could’ve been broken up more) -Salad: Asian inspired Beef salad 2/5 -Main: Australian Wagyu 3/5 (I’m sure this steak was good for what it is “BUT” in my opinion anything other than Japanese Wagyu is a Knockoff Wagyu like Australian and American Wagyu.) No offense. This restaurant does have a good selection of Japanese Wagyu which I think I gotta come back for. -Dessert: Again this was a set meal dessert which I wasn’t a fan of. 1/5 Last but not least the drinks we ordered was FANTASTIC, definitely my favorite part of the meal.🥴 Overall: I think I gotta come back for the Kobe or Miyazaki A5 Wagyu in the future so they can redeem themselves.

5 Star Rating An incredible experience and 10/10 service. Our server, who was also the bartender on Friday, February 13, was absolutely perfect! Unfortunately, I don’t remember his name, but he was tall, had dark hair, and was working on the rooftop. He even offered us a special coffee for our anniversary, which was such a thoughtful touch. I ordered the filet mignon, my husband the New-York, mine was cooked perfectly, although my husband’s was slightly more rare than expected. We started with the burrata and the wagyu carpaccio, and they were absolutely delicious. For dessert, I chose the house specialty (I can’t remember the name), but the flavors were exquisite. One of the best steakhouses I’ve been to, and our server’s exceptional service truly made all the difference in our experience. Thank you again!

2 Star Rating I had high hopes for this place but we got kind of disappointed. Terrible service and poor attention to our physically disabled guest. The food overall was very good, with some real highlights. The brioche was outstanding, easily one of the best parts of the meal and absolutely worth mentioning. The chicken was also delicious and well prepared, and dessert was truly out of this world. A fantastic way to end the evening. That said, there were a few disappointments. The calamari tasted like it had been frozen, chopped up, and heavily salted rather than freshly prepared. The mac and cheese sticks were also very underwhelming and not what we expected from a restaurant of this caliber. Service at reception was another downside. We had booked our table weeks in advance, yet were still made to wait about 30 minutes at the front before being seated, which took away from the overall experience. We had told them about someone in our party that was disabled and they made sure we got the farthest table on the second floor. With some improvements to consistency and reservation handling, this could easily be an exceptional dining experience.

The service was quick and so friendly, and we were seated right away in the lounge (compared to 2 hour waits at several close by major restaurants) There was a special Valentines 3 course meal menu with an extra wine accompaniment option - everything I has was delicious! I was actually full enough that I had to take most of my dessert home. This will absolutely be my dining choice when I am in the area from now on!

4 Star Rating FOMO kicked in on the last day of Vancouver Dine Out. Skipping it felt like I was missing a ritual—but with prices climbing and fewer standout concepts, it hasn’t felt as exciting lately. Still, a last-minute booking led to a Teppanyaki experience, and honestly? No regrets. The chef brought the energy, the show was fun, and the food delivered. It was a satisfying way to close out the festival. Starters • Shabu Shabu soup with chicken & beef stock, fried onions, mushrooms, and green onions • Fresh seasonal vegetables (zucchini, mushrooms, onions) • Teppan shrimp seasoned with their signature spice blend • Steamed rice Mains • Flame-kissed tiger prawns, butter-basted with lemon • Sirloin steak featuring premium Alberta beef • Teriyaki chicken glazed in-house Dessert • Mario’s Gelati — mango & green tea

5 Star Rating We made a reservation at Kobe for Dine Out Vancouver and the experience kicked off on a great note. When we arrived, we were warmly ushered into the lounge to wait, where we ordered drinks while our table was being prepared. The transition upstairs was smooth and felt a bit like a build-up to a show — walking past several tables, then heading up another level, seeing chefs already cooking in front of excited diners. The anticipation definitely grew with every step. Once seated, the service team quickly checked in for drink orders and asked about allergies. When our chef arrived, it was clear he’d been fully briefed on everyone’s preferences and dietary needs. One person at our table has an allergy, and the chef was incredibly attentive — cooking their food separately to avoid any cross-contamination. Super thoughtful and very much appreciated. Then came the performance. The chef effortlessly flexed his cooking tools in the air, which was impressive and entertaining. He started with appetizers — shrimp, veggies, and prawns — followed by steak and teriyaki chicken, all cooked right in front of us. Everything was delicious, hot, and perfectly seasoned. Bonus points for firing up an onion “birthday candle” for one of our birthday celebrants — a fun and memorable touch that had the whole table smiling. Now, the only real downside: the smoke. Despite the large exhaust built into the table, it didn’t quite do its job. You will leave smelling like you just walked out of a smokehouse. Like… people might smell you from a mile away. Pro tip: don’t wear your favourite outfit or coat unless you want it permanently infused with grill essence. I just wish their exhaust system could handle heavy smoke the way some Korean BBQ spots do. That said, the overall experience was fun, interactive, and delicious. Great food, attentive service, and lots of laughs — just come dressed accordingly and ready to smell like a teppanyaki feast.

5 Star Rating The food was really delicious and the atmosphere was great. The service was amazing as well. We went with the teriyaki combo which comes with beef, chicken, veges /shrimp. Came here to celebrate our anniversary and they were super nice and provided us with a complimentary ice cream. While it was delicious it is also expensive. It was 60$ per person for the meal and I wasn’t completely full, that is not taking away from the whole experience as I thought it was great but just fyi. Would still recommend for special occasions!

5 Star Rating Surprisingly having lived in the surrounding areas of Vancouver, 50+years. This was my first time to Kobes. I have always heard great experiences from others. I brought my girlfriend, daughter & some. Celebrating 5 years with my GF & daughters 18th birthday. Very nice warm ambiance, amazing staff. The chefs are next level. Being a Sat. evening, it was quite busy. Definitely make reservations. This is a very social atmosphere. So if your looking for something more private, intimate. I'd go elsewhere. Our chef Sho was very personable & entertaining. Glad to have checked Kobes off the restaurant bucket list. I know it's very popular and if your a tourist. It's a must.

5 Star Rating The food here is always awesome and flavourful. My only gripe is the steak and lobster are always served diced up. I like my steak as a slab and my lobster as a slab. I love the show presentation of them cooking the food and sometimes sitting with strangers can be fun… or annoying.
