I feel like cactus has been going really downhill. One particular stand out was the calamari appetizer. This was 20 dollars, and as you can see had about 6 pieces of calamari. Our server was really friendly, as the staff always are, and she asked the kitchen and they confirmed that this is pretty standard. They "replaced it" but it was pretty much the same size. Don't think we will be coming to cactus again even though I've been a regular to the chain for more than a decade unless they revamp their menu.

Upon entering my friend and I were seated at the tables by the bar. We requested to switch to a booth but the waitress had told us that it’s way too busy to be moved which is fine and understandable. We ordered our food which is our usual Cajun Chicken Sandwiches and I requested yam fries and my friend truffle fries. We waited quite a long time for our food and after receiving it and just looking at it the bread looked so stale like it was so many days past expiration date. My yam fries were extremely cold and also so old!!!! I took a bite of my burger and it was also cold. The cheese had hardened, chicken cold and bread so stale. We come to Cactus Club religiously and usually order the same thing but we have never had bad experiences until now. We actually praise Cactus for their quality food but this time was just so disappointing, maybe it’s the location?! I am paying for this food I expect good quality food but this was just such a let down and disappointment Cactus Club.

My husband and I recently visited Cactus Club Lougheed for a much-needed date night after weeks of nonstop shifts. It was pouring rain that evening, which somehow made the night feel even more special. We didn’t have a reservation, but we were warmly accommodated. Our server was friendly and efficient, and the food was nothing short of delicious, truly enjoyable from start to finish. The only hiccup came around dessert time. It took about 20–30 minutes for dessert to arrive, and we honestly felt like leaving at one point. After dessert, it also felt like we had been there the longest and were just ready to head out. We later found out that our server had been pulled into handling a very large party (18–20 guests that kept growing), which explained the delay. The server did apologize, which we appreciated, but since we were served by about three different people throughout the night, it wasn’t always clear who to approach when we needed something. That said, the dessert was absolutely worth the wait, and the food overall made the experience enjoyable. Despite the small service delay, we still had a great time. The vibe at this location is intimate and quiet, perfect for a date night. We would still recommend this location and would happily return.

I've been to this location for brunch, lunch, and dinner. The food and service are sometimes great and sometimes not. The eggs benedict were good, but the potatoes were deep fried so long they were hard. In the seasonal pie, the blueberries were fresh and popped, but the crust was dry, thick, and tasteless. Interactions with servers aren't reflective of how busy it is, and it gets hectic busy.

I don't usually go to this location but today was great. The chicken strips were perfectly sized. We noticed lately they've become smaller at other locations. Service was great and we ended up with extra zucchini sticks on the plate (or just more than usual at other locations). Thanks for our awesome lunch today!

One of my fave places to lunch with convenient parking in their vast lot. The day staff here is super spot on and nails my order every single time. However, I've dined here at night before and it's a complete 180....the incompetent male server got my order all wrong and the food wasn't as good as how the day chef does it 👎🏻 So it's best to come during the daytime before they switch to their evening staff.

Everything is great. The complimentary tea is good ( self serve). For a small neighborhood sushi place it’s really good. Chicken teriyaki don size is filling. The salmon sushi was a bit soft but tasted good.

The sushi here is pretty solid. The texture is just right, the flavor is on point and no piece was ever too dry or mushy. They've got everything on point for a decent price as well. We ordered a sushi tray on the spot and the wait wasn't very long, they prepared our order quickly and the service was friendly and fast. The sashimi tasted fresh as well, not like some frozen fish other cheap spots use. Overall, 5/5. I have nothing to deduct a star on or complain about. Will visit again!

06/11/26 i stopped by this wonderful little shop, i only had a dynamite roll and a tune maki roll. both were fresh, tasted very good, the prices of these rolls were i think reasonable. the sushi chef was very polite, kind, seemed genuinely happy to see me there as his customer, and welcoming. i dont live in the area, but the next time in that area, i will be going back there and buying something more substantial

I’ve visited this place multiple times and have always had a great experience. The staff are friendly, and the food is consistently delicious. I couldn’t give a full 5/5 because I believe there’s always room for improvement, and nothing is ever truly perfect. That said, my boyfriend and I love coming here for a relaxing evening. Galbi at Gilmore Place has become one of our favorite BBQ spots, and we always look forward to coming back⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!

If I were the owner of Galbi, I would feel proud of the service because the staff are very efficient. However, from a customer’s perspective, the experience feels rushed. We hadn’t even finished our drinks when the bill was brought to the table. Since there were no customers waiting for tables, it made the place feel more like a fast-food restaurant — eat fast and pay fast — rather than a relaxed dining experience. Overall, the food quality and taste are just average. The green onion pancake, steamed egg, and beef tartare were okay but nothing special. The marinated beef rib fingers were quite salty and not recommended. The dishes I would recommend are the bean paste soup and the fresh beef short ribs.

The three of us ordered two sets of 2-persons lunch set on a surprisingly quiet holiday. The restaurant was very smart and flexible to serve the optional dishes one per head, ie. three soups/cold noodles instead of four, to avoid food waste. The BBQ meat quality were great, soft and tender. And the beer pitcher is enclosed and unbreakable - very safe!

We visited Galbi for dinner last night and had a really great experience. The service and staff are amazing. We took our 18 month old and they were so good with her. I wanted to provide Aaron with a special shout out for his service. All the meats we tried were awesome. Menu is good and has good guidance for first timers. We tried on of the combos and really liked the salads. The soup was meh and the cheese corn could use more flavour too. We will go back for sure!

I normally love la routa pizza at their other locations. This is my first time ordering at the Gilmore location. Margherita is usually my go to. This time no different. However this time when I ordered, the toppings were minimal. A Margherita pizza doesn’t have too much toppings to begin with so I was very disappointed when the tomato sauce used was very minimal. It was almost as if the sauce was drizzled slightly over the dough. There were also many dry spots on the pizza. I’m sure maybe this was a one off so hopefully next time it will be better

I visited because it’s newly opened near Gilmore Station and had high expectations. I ordered the Funghi pizza, which comes with mushrooms, cheese, and Alfredo sauce. The crust was decent, but overall the flavor was very bland and disappointing. It lacked depth, and nothing really stood out. For a small size priced at $20, I don’t think I would order it again. Given that it’s a new place, I was hoping for more, so this was a bit underwhelming.

I had high hopes for Kinton Ramen Burnaby, especially given its reputation and the steady crowd, but unfortunately the food didn’t live up to expectations. We ordered the Meal for Two combo, which included a Pork Original Ramen, Beef Original Ramen, Age Gyoza, drinks, and later added a Value Meal featuring a Pork Value Ramen and Spicy Tokyo Fries. Starting with the ramen, the Pork Original looked appealing with its creamy broth and thin noodles, but the flavour was surprisingly muted. The broth lacked the rich depth and complexity that makes a memorable bowl of tonkotsu ramen. While the pork slice was tender, the overall bowl felt one dimensional and left me wanting more. The Beef Original Ramen was the biggest disappointment. Beef ramen can be difficult to execute well, but this bowl lacked the bold, savoury character I was expecting. The broth tasted flat and uninspired, and the beef didn’t add much flavour to elevate the dish. I’ve had far better beef ramen elsewhere, and this wasn’t one I would order again. The Pork Value Ramen was slightly better, especially with the added egg, seaweed, and mushrooms, but it still suffered from the same issue: a broth that lacked depth and a flavour profile that never really developed beyond the first sip. The Age Gyoza was decent, with a crispy exterior and juicy filling, but it wasn’t particularly memorable. The Spicy Tokyo Fries were probably the highlight of the meal. Crispy, generously seasoned, and packed with a satisfying kick, they delivered more flavour than any of the ramen bowls. On the positive side, the service was excellent. Staff were friendly, attentive, and food arrived promptly. The restaurant itself was clean, modern, and inviting. Unfortunately, when you’re visiting a ramen restaurant, the ramen needs to be the star of the show. While the service and atmosphere were good, the broths lacked the richness, depth, and flavour that I expect from a quality ramen shop. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, and not one I’d rush back to for another bowl.

We visited Kinton for dinner and were generally disappointed. The staff were friendly but service was slow and we had to constantly wave them down for things. The space is really clean and has a nice aesthetic. The food was mixed too. Really liked the donburi and ramen was pretty good. Gyoza was not good. Fries were fine but nothing unique.

Came here to try it out because I’d had Kinton in Toronto. There was nothing wrong with my experience but there also wasn’t anything that made it amazing. Service was attentive and friendly. The ramen felt pretty average. Presentation was a bit poor. The taste was fine but nothing special. The seating wasn’t very comfortable. For the price of the ramen there are better places to go. Overall not bad but certainly not great.

Kinton, apparently our relationship was destined to be brief, disappointing, and rather expensive. I tried KINTON at UBC a few years ago. The broth was fine, the pork was fine, but the noodles were quite possibly the worst I had eaten in my life. An impressive achievement for a ramen restaurant, although perhaps not the sort they were aiming for. Years later, I happened to be near Gilmore Place with a hungry friend looking for a quick lunch. In the spirit of forgiveness, we decided to give KINTON another chance. This time, the noodles were perfectly normal. Progress. The meat was decent. The broth… well, it existed. Nothing was particularly terrible this time, but nothing gave me much reason to come back either. Then came the final course: Gilmore Place parking, where the prices seem to have been calculated by someone who mistook Burnaby for central London. So after several years and two attempts, I think the universe has made itself perfectly clear. KINTON and I are simply not meant to be. At least this time the worst thing wasn’t the noodles. It was the parking bill.

On vacation and stopped by this KFC. The place was actually really clean and the staff were friendly enough. The chicken was decent too — not overly greasy, which is always a win. The only thing… we somehow got a box that was basically all thighs. Like damn, KFC, where’s the variety? 😅 Usually you guys hook it up with a good mix. Still though, after the nightmare fast-food experience we had earlier, this felt like a win. Not perfect, but it did the job.

This KFC is relatively new, and it's located at Gilmore Place. It's more of a takeout place as it has limited seating. The Chicken tasted fresh and I enjoyed their chicken sandwich.

Came in due to the coupons. Got a great deal for 4 PC tender 4 PC chicken, 2 sides and 2 dips. The deal was app only but the staff helped me order it anyway when it didn't appear. The staff helped me pick my dips by personally recommending her favorites. My receipt didn't even finish printing and my food arrived hot. It was as it teleported into my hands. 10/10 I am so impressed with this service and speed. 🍗

Upon walking in, a pleasant aroma immediately welcomed us. It was our first time here, we had an appointment nearby and found the restaurant with a quick Google search at lunchtime. Great experience at Pokerrito's Gilmore location! Made a huge take out order of about 25 people and got our food super quickly. Everyone's order was correct, even the folks who did the build your own bowl got their orders right too. Sun and Carol were the only two working there, and they absolutely killed it! It was my first time having poke, and I will definitely be going back after this.

Ordered through the Door Dash app and it was Buy One Get One. I decided to get the B.Y.O Bowl(Build Your Own) and was surprised at the portion size which was very impressive compared to other establishments. Now I have another Bowl which I will have for dinner the next day. Total for both bowls would have been $41.90 before taxes,service fee,delivery fee but after discount of one bowl(free)it was only $20.95. Since it was a bargain I had to be generous with my tipping of the Door Dash driver.....gas costs are very high so dont forget to tip.

Good poke bowls at this burnaby location. Ordered the seared tuna bowl with salad greens. Very tasty! The tuna tastes very fresh and the portions are quite reasonable. I like the addition of the edamame and radish sides too. Will come back again.
