4 Star Rating Have visited Cactus Club Cafe on different occasions and have had various experiences. Last time had a great time with couple of my colleagues, good time to get there during the happy hour. Booth is always a cozy option in my opinion, but bar is fun too. The food is decent, depending what you prefer of course. Good place to chill, have a drink. The place can get crowded on the weekends and prior reservation would be in the best interest.

2 Star Rating Fantastic food. Blacked creole chicken and the London fog creme brulee were especially good. The service wasn't there though. I came in from what I realized was a side entrance later (despite being open and along the highway with no signs telling us otherwise). I stood there patiently, out of everyone's way, hoping to get a seat or at least be told to head to the main entrance that I hadn't known about. I didn't wave aggressively, approach servers while they were helping other customers. Just eye contact or a nod whenever they looked my way. Not a single server who walked by me did anything. Was hoping for at least a point in the right direction or a gentle reminder that the main entrance is on a random side street as I've never been to this branch. Just promptly ignored after I made eye contact with basically all the waitstaff that evening. I only started walking around the inside of the cafe after 10+ minutes of no interaction and eventually found the main entrance THROUGH the dining room/lounge...but a simple 'hey sorry, main entrance is that way' from ANY of your staff or a sign saying 'please use main entrance' would've solved this. Have not felt this ignored in ages, and it's on an anniversary night too. Food was amazing for Happy Hour! Go if you only want to eat and don't care about being cared for. But I won't return due to the service.

5 Star Rating We celebrated my daughter’s 12th birthday at Cactus Club in North Burnaby, and it was such a wonderful experience! We had originally booked a table on the patio, but when we arrived it was a bit chilly the staff were so polite and quickly helped us move inside without any hassle. The food was fantastic, and the Bellini drink was excellent. The team even surprised my daughter with a complimentary birthday cake, a sweet birthday message written on the plate, and a card which made our night extra special. The service, atmosphere, and quality of everything were top-notch. I highly recommend this location to everyone and will definitely be coming back!

3 Star Rating Cactus Club is known for being a least offensive option when dining in large groups. Pretty much everyone can find something on their menu that they could eat in a pinch. They used to have better options but they culled their menu (unfortunately getting rid of many of their best dishes) to make room for niches such as vegan and gluten free. Oredered the Cajun Chicken Sandwich and Fries as well as the Tuna Temaki Roll. Nothing really wrong with the food but nothing that makes it stand out either. Service is a bit hit or miss depending on time of day.

5 Star Rating The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. Our server was super friendly and attentive — they made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. Everything from the burgers to the fries tasted perfect. Definitely one of the better dining experiences we’ve had lately. Highly recommend this location!

2 Star Rating White Spot has always been our go-to family meet-up spot, but our recent visit to the Burnaby location was a huge letdown. The hamburger bun was cold, and the beef patty was lukewarm. We all added mushrooms, but there was barely enough for two bites. The Legendary sauce was just a small dab, nowhere near what it should be. The fries were cold and didn’t taste fresh at all. Appetizers were overly salty, and the blueberry pie had sour berries that made it hard to enjoy. When we asked a staff member about the food, they said it was a slow long weekend. How is that an excuse for such poor quality? We’re not coming back to this location.

3 Star Rating I have been a White Spot customer for over 50 years. We visited this location at the end of August and my husband ordered their Blueberry Pie Bundle. The pie was a huge disappointment as the blueberries barely filled the crust. Not sure if they ran out of berries but better not to serve at all than to bring out a sub par menu item that's highlighted in their advertising! Service was also very slow both in taking our order and paying our bill at the end.

3 Star Rating Stopped by for a Monty mushroom burger with my mom and brother. It’s a nostalgic spot but service was really slow… took 15 minutes to flag down our server to order. We ordered hot wings and zoo sticks to share, and I got the mushroom burger with fries. Hot wings were saucy and zoo sticks were delicious and crispy. Burger was good as well. Filling meal, but took forever to flag our server down for the bill. Oh, the non alcoholic bottomless drinks were pretty good for $5 as well! The strawberry lemonade tastes exactly like red robins freckled lemonade. The mango iced tea was really delicious, I would recommend that one!

5 Star Rating I’ve been looking for a good authentic Korean BBQ spot, and this place did not disappoint! The meat was super fresh, and the marinated beef literally melted in my mouth. A lot of places charge extra for side dishes, but here, the banchan (side dishes) were amazing and they give plenty without any extra fee! The service was honestly one of the best I’ve had. The staff were so attentive, always checking in to make sure our grill was perfect, refilling side dishes right away, and even helping us cook the meat at the right temperature. Everyone was friendly, polite, and made us feel so welcomed. Definitely a hidden gem and a must visit for anyone who loves Korean BBQ! 🔥🇰🇷

Overall, we had such a great experience here, and we’re definitely coming back again!

4 Star Rating Had dinner at Galbi Korean BBQ at Gilmore Place and really enjoyed the experience. The restaurant is still very new, so everything feels fresh and clean, especially the interiors, and the ventilation system works great (always a plus at KBBQ). Service was friendly and attentive. Our server even offered us a complimentary cheese corn since it was our first time at this location, a thoughtful touch that stood out. We ordered beef short ribs, thinly sliced skin-on pork belly, upgraded the soup to kimchi stew, had steamed rice, and shared a bottle of Asahi. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. Total came to $103 for two people, including tip, well worth it for the quality and experience. Will definitely be back!

5 Star Rating We got to visit Galbi on their second day open and it was a great experience. The meat was fresh and the service was excellent. It is on the pricier side (like everywhere in Vancouver) but the best deal is in the combos. A couple of things that I wish they could change are adding more sides/banchans, and a mixed beef & pork combo. We will definitely be back!

They season the fish and some toppings with sauce in a mixing bowl separately so the whole bowl is super flavourful compared to other poke places that only drizzle on top. 5 Star Rating You could call Big Hot Pot Gilmore a “fast-food hot pot” — people come, eat, and go. It’s busy, energetic, and definitely louder than your average restaurant. Most of the crowd seems to be in their twenties, so I definitely felt a little older here! That said, the place looks great — very clean and modern. The concept is different from a typical hot pot restaurant. You grab a bowl, choose your own ingredients from a big selection of veggies, meats, and seafood, then take it to the cashier. You pay by weight and pick your broth, and the staff take it from there. They cook your meal in the kitchen and bring it right to your table. There’s also a sauce bar where you can mix your own dipping sauce, which is a nice touch, and the ice cream dessert at the end was really tasty. Overall, it’s a fun and unique experience — perfect for a quick, casual meal. I wouldn’t recommend it for a big group though, since the noise level makes conversation pretty hard. Oh, before I forget - prepare yourself for a lineup. Go inside and register at the checkin (ipadsized screen) and wait for a message.

5 Star Rating I came here for the first time by around 11pm on Halloween. I quite liked the decoration. The fake hand on the cashier counter scared me haha. I didn't expect the atmosphere to be this fun😂 I was impressed how the staffs here dressed up, especially the cashier girl which I forgot her name tho but she has a short brown hair with black dress and leather jacket? OMG her makeup was absolutely gorgeous!!! I gave her a vote hope she would win the contest! She was really nice recommending me things to try since I'm new, then she also helped me sign up for the membership. I'm glad that I trusted her! Super love the Tomato broth and Cookie & Cream. Kinda sad I didn't get free monster drink bcs my pot wasn't $30. Highly recommend for anyone who want to come try here, you get free ice cream after your meal. Will definitely come back again!!! 3 Star Rating A new spot in Burnaby! Just visited the brand-new Firehouse Subs on Dawson Street and overall, it’s a welcome addition to the neighborhood. The location is super clean, bright, and organized—you can tell it’s fresh and well-managed. The staff were friendly, energetic, and helpful, which made the experience even better. It’s always nice to walk into a place where the team takes pride in their service. I tried two subs: 🥗 Caprese Veggie (medium) – The fresh mozzarella, tomato, and balsamic glaze combo was decent, though I was expecting more flavor complexity. 🌶️ Spicy Cajun Chicken (large) – Had a good amount of heat and the portion was filling, but nothing extraordinary in terms of quality. The total came to around $35 for two subs, which felt a bit steep. While I understand that Firehouse Subs emphasizes premium ingredients and supports first responders (which I admire about their brand ethos), the price point still feels high compared to other sandwich chains offering similar items. The quality was average—not bad, but not standout either. Still, having Firehouse Subs in Burnaby is exciting, and I’ll likely come back to try some of their other signature hot subs. I’d love to see some combo options or local specials down the line to make it more wallet-friendly for regulars. 💡 Tip: They’re known for steaming their meats and cheeses, which sets them apart from typical sub spots—so it’s worth giving their signature hot subs a try if you haven’t yet!

3 Star Rating Disappointed with Service and Sandwich Quality I placed an online order for two sandwiches for a 12:05 PM pickup. I arrived at 12:10, but my order still wasn’t ready, so I had to wait even longer. While I understand things can get busy, the experience went downhill from there. When I got home and opened the sandwiches, I noticed one was missing the side pickle, which was supposed to be included. I had also requested extra lettuce, but there was barely any—just a light handful at best. The tomatoes were just a couple of broken slices, and the green peppers were nearly nonexistent. While waiting in-store, I could see how they were preparing the sandwiches. The meat and cheese were placed on parchment paper and then put into steamer drawers. Because they seemed to be rushing through a backlog of orders, the ingredients were crumpled together instead of laid flat. This resulted in a clump of ham bound by melted cheese—so most of the meat ended up concentrated in just one part of the sandwich. The rest of it was uneven, making the eating experience pretty underwhelming. In short, the flavor was decent, but the overall service and sandwich assembly left a lot to be desired. Staff could definitely benefit from more attention to detail and better training to ensure quality and consistency.
