We’re spending one day in Vancouver before boarding a cruise and Japadog just happened to be a block from our hotel. We’ve seen a YouTube video about it and it looked amazing so we knew when we booked our hotel that that would be our first stop after checking in. It’s a small place and quite busy, but it’s busy for a really good reason. The staff is super friendly and helpful, especially for Japadog newbies. I was super happy to see that there were vegetarian options of the exact dogs I wanted to try. The flavor of these dogs is unreal and unlike anything we’ve ever tried before. We are planning a longer trip to Vancouver and you’d better believe Japadog will be a regular stop!

Japadog offers a fun and unique twist on the classic hot dog by combining Japanese flavors with a North American street food favorite. The concept is creative and definitely stands out among casual food options in Vancouver. I tried a few varieties, and while the toppings were flavorful and interesting, the overall experience depended a lot on which combination you choose. Some options, like the Terimayo, were well-balanced and satisfying, while others felt a bit too salty or heavy.
The prices are slightly higher than a typical street-style hot dog, but considering the specialty ingredients and novelty, it’s understandable. Service was quick and friendly, and the food came out fresh.
Overall, Japadog is worth a visit if you’re curious about a fun fusion concept or looking for a quick bite with bold flavors. It may not be something I’d have frequently, but it’s an iconic Vancouver spot that’s worth trying at least once.

I've been going to JapaDog forever ! It is a Vancouver classic and the Robson location never disappoints! We had the Wagyu Terimayo and the Ebi Tempura dog both packed with flavor and so unique. The drinks were refreshing (Japanade Pink Lemonade and Yuzu Matcha Lemonade) and the shaker fries were incredible, especially the Shichimi & Garlic and the Butter & Shoyu. The staff were friendly, the food came out quickly, and the whole experience reminded me why JapaDog has been loved here for 20 years. Definitely worth the hype!

Japadog is definitely a fun and unique Vancouver experience — the fusion of Japanese flavors with a classic street hotdog is creative and surprisingly tasty. The toppings are fresh and the combinations stand out, especially the Terimayo. That said, for what it is, the prices are a bit steep. Great for trying once or showing visitors something different, but not somewhere you’d go often just for a hotdog

i got very severe decision paralysis from this huge menu and i have so many regrets about my life choices. the hot dogs were a tad disappointing tbh — the bun was very normal looking and wasn’t very fresh. i think it would’ve been a lot yummier if it was fresh. the cheese on the tonkatsu dog was a bit plasticky, although it did make it more flavourful. the wagyu menchi katsu dog was vEry juicy, you could tell that it actually was very high quality (unlike the bread), and its heavy flavour was balanced by the sweet sauce. however the cutlet actually only took up like half of the bun so half of the time you were literally just eating mayo and slaw. both the tonkatsu and menchikatsu were fried FRESH so it was served nice and piping hot.
compared to the hot dogs, the desserts were MUCHHHHH better. the black sesame milkshake was so good — it wasn’t too sweet, but there was a great black sesame flavour. the age ice cream buns were also reALLLY yummy. the fried, crispy sweet buns were really warm and paired so perfectly with the (not too sweet) cold and smooth matcha ice cream. the sugar coating the bun also elevated it — honestly these fried buns were such a highlight.

Before I even finished my meal I told my boyfriend this was the best birthday dinner ever! I was absolutely blown away by everything at Gotham. From the second you walk in, you are met with warm smiles and fantastic hospitality . The Christmas decor was a beautiful touch. Our server was attentive, kind and really made our first dining experience here memorable. Now the food? I could go on for ages about but there’s no doubt this is th best steakhouse dinner I’ve ever had. The meat would melt in mouth . The ceasar salad was perfectly garlicky and the side of lemon takes it up a notch. But what really stole the show for us was the sticky toffee pudding…I’ll have dreams about it! From beginning to end it was the most attentive and delicious dinner I’ve had in quite some time. Highly recommend

Finally made it to Gotham after talking about it for three years, and it absolutely lived up to the hype.
From the moment we walked in, the aesthetics and ambience stood out... antique, regal, and intimate, yet still lively. The music was great, and the entire team made us feel genuinely welcome. The servers were friendly, attentive, and a pleasure to chat with, which really elevated the experience.
For appetizers, we started with the famous cheese toast (a must-order). Perfectly crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, honestly addictive. We also had the steak tartare, fresh oysters, and crab cake, all of which were beautifully prepared and full of flavor. A couple of cocktails to start set the tone for the evening.
For mains, we shared the porterhouse steak, and you truly can’t go wrong with it. The steak was juicy, tender, and cooked perfectly, so easy to cut and incredibly satisfying. We paired it with mashed potatoes, creamed corn, asparagus, and peppercorn sauce, along with a glass of red wine, and everything complemented the steak perfectly.
To finish, we had the old-fashioned chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, which was rich, decadent, and the perfect ending to the meal.
Overall, Gotham delivers on atmosphere, service, and food. It’s a classic steakhouse experience done right, and definitely a place worth returning to. Highly recommend for a special night out.

Excellent place. We started with the cheese toast, a succulent appetizer. For mains, we ordered the fillet mignon rare and the 20-oz bone-in ribeye medium rare. The fillet was super tender, while the ribeye was very flavorful. Both were cooked to order. As a side dish, we ordered their lyonnaise potatoes, which did not disappoint. For dessert, we had the key lime pie (very creamy, but a touch too sweet) and the Belgian chocolate bourbon cake.
The service was very friendly and professional. Our waiter was very thorough with all descriptions and they let us try several wines to pick our glasses. The atmosphere is demure and warm.
We spent $321 for two after tax before tip and it was totally worth it.

Delicious. Worth it! What else is there to say?! Cheese bread to start was a necessity. Big thank you, to our server Beau, as he was outstanding! We greatly enjoyed his banter. He mentioned that their medium rare steak is more on the rare side. So, with that in mind I got a medium and it was perfect! There was one piece that was more to my husband's liking that he demanded that he take off of my plate, but that was to be expected with what Beau had mentioned. We highly recommend their filets with a side of lyonnaise potatoes to share. We declined dessert, but they found out it was my birthday and gave us these delicious toffee treats! Phenomenal. Every bit of it. We can't wait to come back the next time we are lucky enough to visit this beautiful city!

We really enjoyed our meal at Gotham Steakhouse. The Citrus Salad was delicious and they nailed the cook and flavours on the three different steak options we shared family style with the Filet inching ahead as my favourite. For extras the Field Mushrooms were good although the others struggled to capture the same notes as the entrees. All the desserts were enjoyable while the Key Lime pie really impressed.
Overall an excellent restaurant that really delivered an enjoyable meal.

Hawksworth Restaurant has always been one of the most highly praised restaurants in the past decade, if not longer. Sadly, that is no longer the case after a recent visit. Dishes are no longer sent out with quality control, poor ingredient combinations, and there is a lack of aesthetics just to name a few.
When the server brought the first dish, Prosciutto di san daniele with pickled vegetables, it was an embarrassing moment for me in front of my guests. No one wanted this extremely low quality meat and vegetables paired with unappetizing plating until the table was halfway cleared.
The beets dish was sprinkled with cumin, pork collar was cooked in a sweet soy sauce that is similar to the Chinese dish braised pork. Since when did Hawksworth become a fusion restaurant? If I wanted fusion food, there are plenty of places elsewhere to visit at a much better price.
Beef carpaccio was not fresh, fries that came with the burger were stale, scallops were too salty, and the duck confit was dry. The best dish that day was the baby kale salad.
Why did I not bring these issues up with the server? Because it would be impossible to fix any of these problems without proper management at the establishment, and I do not care how the business runs in the future.
The Hawksworth Group just lost a customer who used to buy thousands of dollars in gift cards. After the remaining balance is used, it will be a forever goodbye to Hawksworth Restaurant and all of its other businesses under his name.

An Unforgettable Christmas Celebration
We celebrated both Christmas dinner and a birthday at Hawksworth, and it was truly a special evening. The tasting menu was exceptional – each course was beautifully executed and thoughtfully composed.
What made the experience stand out was the impeccable service and pacing. The staff were wonderful and accommodating, ensuring our celebration felt personal and memorable. The timing between courses was perfect, allowing us to savor each dish without feeling rushed.
Every element came together to create an evening we’ll remember. From the refined cuisine to the attentive service, Hawksworth delivered the elevated dining experience we hoped for on such a meaningful night.
Highly recommended for special occasions when you want everything to be just right.

Hawksworth Restaurant was the perfect choice to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. My wife and I loved the cozy, warm atmosphere and the beautifully decorated space. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, and the sommelier did an excellent job helping us select a wine that perfectly complemented our meal. The salmon tartare, risotto, and mixed green salad were all delicious, and the pork and scallops were an absolute 10/10. A beautiful restaurant and an unforgettable dining experience. We are so glad we went.

From the start of our venue search, Hawksworth stood out. We loved the York Room - it perfectly fit our vision for a small, intimate wedding. The space was clean, crisp, and had a timeless, classy feel that made it the perfect backdrop for our day.
Emily was our first contact and was incredibly helpful, friendly, and informative, which made planning easy. Later, Marlen took over and provided exceptional support - she was attentive, responsive, and really cared about making sure everything was just right. Her guidance helped reduce any stress and made the whole process enjoyable.
We went with a minimalist decor theme, but the York Room was still beautifully set up, and the atmosphere matched exactly what we imagined. Bryson did a fantastic job leading the reception that evening and even helped organize the tea for our simplified tea ceremony. The food was delicious, and we received so many compliments from our guests on the venue, service, food, and drinks. Everyone truly enjoyed the experience.
We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or team for our wedding reception. Hawksworth and its staff exceeded our expectations in every way, and we are so grateful for their part in making our day so unforgettable.

I've been to Hy's twice now and they've never disappointed. A warm, lively, intimate atmosphere, exceptionally polite, informative and skilled waitstaff (more on that later) and a wide selection of delicious entrées. The tableside preparation is a unique and exciting option, as waiters here will literally make your meal right besides you. I recommended the caesar salad, steak Diane and the bananas foster in particular. The drinks are quite varied as well and I particularly enjoy their takes on classic cocktails. The best restaurant for steak in Vancouver!

Came here after many years. It’s still a dark dungeon of a restaurant with no light or windows. Service is great, food is well prepared and on point. The rack of lamb is حالال. Sides and desserts are good. It is too pricey overall for what you get. I’d prefer Elisa or Black and Blue if I had a choice. The Whistler Hy’s is on another level compared to this location.

Hy’s Steakhouse delivers a classic fine-dining experience done right. The steaks are perfectly cooked, rich in flavor, and clearly high quality. Service is attentive without hovering, and the atmosphere feels timeless elegant, calm, and ideal for a special evening or business dinner. Everything runs smoothly here, from the first greeting to the last bite. A place that knows exactly what it is and executes it consistently well.

We decided to have the whole old-school dining experience at Hy’s steakhouse and it didn’t disappoint. We got their classic cheese toast which was quite addictive and yummy, the caesar salad and Steak Diane prepared tableside (quite the pre-dinner entertainment by themselves), the Steak Neptune , Cream Spinach and a nice bottle of red to go with the meal. Benjamin who was assigned to our table was very attentive and professional and he also prepared the two tableside dishes perfectly. The salad and especially the Diane steak were delicious! The bill was hefty but worth it for a special occasion.

It’s my friends first time visiting Van and I booked this restaurant for dinner, and I had to say it did not disappoint! Our server, Andrew, was super sweet and very knowledgeable about the menu and made great recommendations!
For food, we ordered Caesar salad and a steak on their special menu to share. The salad was def the best Caesar salad I have ever had (so garlicky and flavorful and you got to watch your server make the whole salad in front of you!). The steak was cooked perfectly, not too tender or hard, just perfectly medium-well. For dessert, we ordered bananas foster and it’s so delicious (again, you got to watch your server cook it in front of you and there was a fire show for this dessert🤩).
I will bring other friends back here when I’m visiting next time for sure!

I came here a little late into the evening on a Saturday. There was plenty of room both at the bar and tables. I was quickly seated. My server was super fun and made some great recommendations. I ended up with the blackened chicken, which really hit the spot. The mac & cheese is definitely made in house. The dessert was divine. I have been to The Keg at locations in Toronto and Montreal. This one in Vancouver was no different in terms of high quality and service.

We recently dropped in for a quick drink and appy before attending a major high-school football game at BC Place. Our server, Lucian, was an absolute delight, engaging and able to meet our tight time restraints without any issues. The food and drinks were top notch, tasty and fresh. A great experience! Loved the drawing!

We celebrated my birthday at The Keg Steakhouse and had a truly memorable evening. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with complimentary sourdough and cheese to start off our meal – an excellent way to build our appetite. The bar impressed us with a wide selection of cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages; I opted for a Shirley Temple that was deliciously sweet, though slightly on the watered-down side.
Our server, Dallas, struck the perfect balance of professionalism and humour. He anticipated our needs, answered all our questions, and even shared the charming history behind the classic Billy Miner Pie® that the restaurant kindly gifted us for my birthday. The pie itself was delightful.
As for the steak, it was outstanding. I chose the 10 oz Top Sirloin, and my girlfriend enjoyed the Filet Mignon. Both were cooked to perfection, tender and flavourful. It was the best steak I'd ever had. The elegant decor and spotless facilities, including the washrooms, enhanced the experience, making it feel both upscale and welcoming.
All in all, The Keg delivered exceptional food, attentive service, and a warm atmosphere. I look forward to returning and highly recommend it for any special celebration or a night out with friends.

We did not have any wait luckily because we had reservation online, but as we were exiting there were over 20 people waiting outside the restaurant.
Overall I'd give it a 4/5 stars.
One star missing for the food quality, it's not super high but it's good for the price you're paying.
The value is great considering you get to order 3 rounds and there's no limit to how many items you order per round, but you do need to finish what's on your table to avoid getting a penalty.
Our favourite item was the fried scallops.
The dining environment was comfortable as well, despite being a bit loud.
Service was decent, and speedy.
I'd come back here again!

This was my first time at Shabusen, and I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical about the whole AYCE (all-you-can-eat) concept in Vancouver. That skepticism disappeared quickly.
From the moment we walked in, the service stood out. Every staff member—from the host to the food runners—was warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. No rushed attitudes, no frowns. They even swapped out our BBQ grill without us asking, which was a nice surprise. Food came out fast, and empty plates were cleared away efficiently, keeping our table fresh and uncluttered.
I originally came here just for the salmon sashimi, but ended up trying a wide range of dishes—and loved them all. The quality of the food exceeded expectations, and the variety made it even better.
If you can, I recommend coming for dinner. The price is a bit higher, but you get nearly double the menu choices compared to lunch, making it well worth it. Definitely a spot I’d return to.

I’ve had such fond memories of this place since this was one of the first restaurants I got to visit after immigrated here, and I’m so glad to see that it’s still doing well and held up in comparison to the version I have in my head 🥲💛
We arrived on Labour Day evening, and boy was it CROW-DED. The restaurant was completely full with three parties ahead of us when we walked in at around 7:30 PM, but the servers and the host hustled and we ended up only waiting for about 10-15 minutes.
The cleanliness of the place was not the best (especially the bathroom), but other than that, I felt like the restaurant had really stepped up its food quality and service since I visited last (about 4 years ago??).
The salmon in the spicy sashimi was soooo buttery and smooth. My partner and I were both so shocked by its quality at an AYCE restaurant. The meats that we ordered for the BBQ were extremely flavorful and well marinated. No additional sauce was needed. The cones were wrapped in an aromatic seaweed wrap and all the fried stuff came out steaming hot. The only complaint we have is the lack of noodle offering, even just yakisoba noodles as my partners loves them with his BBQ lol.
I’m so glad I didn’t overhype this place for my partner (he’s never been and I’ve been yapping about this place for years)!!

I had an amazing dining experience here. I visited a few weeks ago for a business meeting with some female colleagues, and we were pleasantly surprised by the welcome bubbly offered as soon as we walked in. It was such a thoughtful touch that made us feel right at home.
The hostesses were friendly and professional, and our server was an absolute delight. I unfortunately don’t remember his name, but he was a tall Black gentleman who was exceptionally professional, knowledgeable about the menu, and genuinely warm. His recommendations were spot-on—especially the potato salad, which he insisted we try. It turned out to be the best I’ve ever had.
We tried several menu items, all of which were phenomenal. Everything paired beautifully with both the wine and the perfectly crafted smoked Old Fashioneds.
I honestly have no suggestions for improvement. It was a 10/10 experience across the board—from the ambiance, to the service, to the food. Highly recommend. This made my first time in Vancouver memorable and I cannot wait to be back!

From the moment we walked in, everything about our evening was flawless. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and beautifully designed — elegant without feeling stuffy. The lighting, music, and layout created the perfect setting for a relaxing, upscale night out.
The food? Absolutely phenomenal. Every dish was clearly crafted with care and precision, from the appetizers to the dessert. The flavors were delicious, and the presentation was picture-perfect. It’s clear the kitchen knows exactly what they’re doing.
But what truly made our experience unforgettable was our server, Izzy. She was an absolute standout. Friendly, knowledgeable, and incredibly attentive without ever being intrusive. Izzy anticipated our needs before we even had to ask — offering thoughtful recommendations, ensuring everything was timed just right, and making us feel genuinely welcome and taken care of. Her professionalism and warmth elevated the entire evening.
It’s rare to find service that strikes the perfect balance between personable and polished, but Izzy nailed it. She’s a true asset to the team and a big reason why we’ll be returning — and recommending this place to everyone we know.
Five stars all around. If you’re lucky enough to be seated in Izzy’s section, you’re in for a truly top-tier experience.
Many thanks - Caitlin from Toronto

Drove to the Met for dinner with someone staying in the hotel. There’s no one on parking duty at 5 pm, so we had to wait a while to get someone from front desk to help.
Happy Hour is 3-6 pm, but the plates were only $1 cheaper than the appetizer menu, so doesn’t really seem worth it. They also advertised $6 happy hour beer but charged us $7 for some reason.
Had the crispy Taiwanese chicken and pork belly as an appetizer. The Taiwanese chicken was very tasty, but you can’t really have bad Taiwanese chicken. Could’ve passed on the pork belly. A bit tart for me.
I had the burger and it was decent. It came with very tasty and crispy fries. Partner had the Calabrian pizza, which was very tasty too.
For dessert, I had the carrot cake, which was very good. It came with ginger ice cream, which gave it a nice kick.
Fine experience, they have 50% off wine on Sundays, which is nice. Probably won’t return since I can get equally good food elsewhere without taking a trip downtown. If you live downtown, worth a visit, as prices are decent for good quality food.

I was not expecting it to be so good !!
We tried a few different cocktails and all were amazing. A pretty good variety of different types of drinks.
We came in during happy hour. My favourite drink was a spicy mango cocktail.
Truffle fries were crisp + seasoned well, also had carbonara and fish tacos. Carbonara was rich, fish tacos were cooked perfectly not too heavy.

Stayed at the Metropolitan and decided to have a few drinks and have food. Good service and had a burger. Nice decor. Went during a holiday so the place was not busy.

Went for happy hour before going to the theatre. Drinks and food were great. Service started out great then declined. Server forgot to place our order, it wasn’t busy at all, maybe 7-8 tables, food took forever to arrive, very warm in there no AC in July ! Seems it’s definitely not like it used to be. Even my bill had someone else’s order on it, an extra $35 so server had to get it redone. The appetizers were delicious, beetroot hummus and buttermilk chicken bites. Unfortunately we won’t be back, they need to improve since there is a lot of competition in Vancouver

The menu selection was wonderfully varied. Super easy kids menu, the young ones loved it. Large generous portions. Great atmosphere.
