White Spot Ackroyd
Double double 8/10 - it’s tasty but can be overwhelming to eat. I feel like it is worth the extra cost to try it if you’re really hungry
Drinks - for bottomless drinks you can mix and match between them!
1. Watermelon Cucumber Refresher 9.5/10 - refreshing and fizzy with a strong flavour. Watermelon didn’t taste overly artificial and the cucumbers give it a light taste!
2. Strawberry Mango Lemonade 9/10 - the mango puree does add something and it is tasty. it tastes more unique than a plain strawberry lemonade
3. Strawberry lemonade 8/10 - just your classic drink.
4. Mango No No Mojito 7.5/10 it was interesting but it didn’t have a strong mint flavour or mango flavour.
5. Mango Iced Tea 7/10 - could use more mango syrup
Our server Carrie was great with checking in and refilling drinks.

Delicious and fresh ingredients. My default place for brunch. Great value for what you pay for. It would be nice if there is fresh juice on the menu.

Ordered for take out. This was about $80 for 2 people. The amount of food we received was very underwhelming. $28 mains that looks like appetizer plates and a carrot cake slice not even 2" thick for $8.50. Dont think I'll ever be ordering from here anymore. Incredibly disappointed and still hungry.

02•04•2025 Went for dinner, the Brussel sprout appetizer was very tasty, the dry rub ribs were very chewy almost rubbery, Fish and chips were very good, be advised, their Cole slaw has sunflower seeds in it incase you have allergies.

It’s a tiny spot with just a few tables, but it never feels crowded or chaotic.
The food is delicious, fast, and affordable.
Somehow, they always manage to get our full order out in under ten minutes every time!
I don’t come here often since I’m not in Richmond much, but if I lived nearby, I could easily see myself coming here every week.

Service was really good and fast. Unfortunately they ran out of tuna when we went but it’s always good here. When I visit Richmond, there’s always time to stop here. Good prices for good portions. The fish are always fresh. Would come back again and again. Always get the toro and salmon belly.

I have seen this food truck for a while and finally caught it when it's opened. Seeing not a lot of people I was wondering would it be good, but I was blown away.
The skewers are cheaper than outside and just tasted so amazing. Seasoned perfectly and grilled to perfection. Eating outside with the setting sun definitely sets a good mood to enjoy the food.
Definitely need to try the lamb kidney, chicken knee, chicken soft bone and meat, beef tongue, and must order the Naan, it is more Northern Chinese Naan bread, and it is so soft and pillowy, we ate both of them so quickly.
A must try in richmond.

This spot is great for a nighttime snack, the skewers here cost less than the ones at the Richmond Night Market which is nice. 🍢👍🏻
Although they have an order online page on their website, it didn't work for me so I just called them to order.
When I arrived I was able to pick up quite quickly and they tasted great too. 😋

I've never been super into hotpot but this place I would definitely go back to eat it. It feels more upscale in quality and flavour. I can definitely taste the difference between this and cheap all you can eat hotpots. I definitely would rather eat this even if its a little pricier. I also love the mini pots on the table so everyone can have their own pot like shabu shabu style.
Service was great in the beginning, they even called us to come earlier for happy hour. Felt like we were starting to get rushed out of there near the end though since dinner service was starting.
Definitely get the shrimp pate thing. They ball it for you into the pot at the table. Desserts were great too. Even the ice cream tasted good and not cheap quality like Ive had at other places.

Food: 4/5. Great selection of sauces, fruits, candies and jelly dessert. Hotpot soup is good but super salty, even when asking for lower sodium option. Felt very thirsty, even hours later.
Service: 5/5. Great and attentive service from the staff.
Atmosphere: 5/5. Family friendly atmosphere. Not loud and can hear each other talk.

We all ordered set meals but added many extra items, which raised the total price.
If you only order the set meal, it costs around $30, including the soup base, a two-tiered The set meal costs around $30, which includes the soup base, a two-tiered rack of vegetables/meat, and refillable staple food.
The dipping sauce is prepared by the staff at the table, which is a nice touch. There’s also a sauce station with plenty of fruits and dessert toppings.
The panda-shaped dish is cute, but not as tasty as expected. 🐼
By the way, the staff proactively helped us portion the shrimp paste, which was very thoughtful!

Great hotpot and great service. Wonderful choice of sauces at the sauce bar. Broth/soup base came out fast and was really good. Service was wonderful, all dishes were explained in both Mandarin and English to our mixed party.

Beautiful restaurant for hot pot! It’s my second time at this location. The service was fantastic, very attentive and efficient, we didn’t have to wait long for anything. Our drinks were continually refilled, the plates were cleared often and the food was brought out with little wait. I highly recommend the creamy pork broth. It comes with a side of chicken to cook.
It is a little on the pricier side, but we left very full and satisfied. Loved the jelly station!
A fun and interactive dinner, with ample time for conversation as you prepare your meal. The complementary ice cream at the end is a refreshing way to end a meal!! Reservations recommended!

Tried out this new steak restaurant in the Richmond area. I love the dark aesthetic, interior design and vibes of the restaurant. Order a bunch of different dishes including the sablefish, truffle burger, lobster linguine, and more. Portions were all a good side and tasted good.
The one thing that stood out to me was the service. Aaron provided exceptional customer service. He was attentive, easy to talk to and great at explaining each dish. One of the better servers I have ever had.

So glad we decided to check out House of Dawn! The interior is absolutely stunning with an elevated design, luxurious furnishings, and is super spacious. Every table is lit perfectly for those photo-worthy moments. We went for some of their most popular and unique fusion dishes, and honestly, every bite delivered. The steak was easily one of the best I’ve ever had—cooked to perfection, and you have to try the bone marrow bordelaise sauce.
We also had a chance to chat with the owner, Ivan, who revealed to us their head chef brings incredible experience from Wolfgang Puck’s kitchen in New York and (if I remember correctly) the Ritz Carlton in Shanghai. No wonder everything tasted so refined. This place is exactly what Richmond needed and is officially one of my favourites now!

Had an awesome night out at this newish upscale, Asian fusion restaurant. The whole dining experience actually exceeded my expectations. Spacious restaurant with comfortable sitting. The restaurant was a bit dark but we were sitting in the booth with adequate lighting. Staff was friendly and gave us recommendations when asked. Food was delicious and well executed. Portions were surprisingly big and at affordable prices (unless you order some really expensive steaks! 😅). Not many fine dining options in Richmond so it’s definitely a nice addition to the area.

We had a wonderful dining experience at the restaurant last night! From the moment I walked in, Parisa, the receptionist, greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel right at home. Our waiter, Gordon, was fantastic—attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. The food was excellent; each dish was beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. The lovely atmosphere added to the overall experience, making it a perfect setting for a delightful dinner. I can't wait to return! Highly recommend!

It is SO good, perfect portion, taste, price and service. I can’t be happier and I will be back. The cashier was patient and observant- two people ordered one dish but still gave two sets of utensils. It is not everyday you also get someone politely bowing to thank you. My friend introduced me and I want to introduce this place to the whole world!!! It is great place for a late night order as they open until late too. 11/10 😇👍

If you’re a hot pot fan, this place is a total hidden gem! I loved everything about the experience—from the ingredient selection to the flavors and even the little extras that made it special.
The process is simple: you grab a tray, pick your ingredients from a wide variety of fresh veggies, tofu, noodles, seafood, and a great selection of meats like thinly sliced beef, lamb, and marinated chicken. Everything is priced by weight, so you only pay for what you take, which I really liked. No pressure—just pick what you like!
Once you’re done choosing, they cook everything in the broth you select. I went with the spicy broth, and it was so flavorful without being overpowering. The meats were tender, the veggies cooked perfectly, and the portion was super satisfying.
What really made this place stand out is the value. It’s very affordable for the quality and quantity of food you get. PLUS, they offer free drinks and a Taiyaki ice cream during Happy Hour (3 PM - 5 PM)—such a fun touch that made the meal even better!
They also have bubble tea if you're craving something sweet to go with your meal. The vibe is casual and cozy, and the staff were super friendly and helpful.
Highly recommend this spot whether you’re new to hot pot or already obsessed. It’s worth every penny, and I’ll definitely be coming back with friends!

Great alternative to big way. Similarly, it’s highly recommended to join the Waitlist to avoid waiting at the restaurant.
I prefer piping hot because I find the soup comes out hotter than big way and the broth is tastier (i usually go with tomato or pumpkin.)
Selection is good, lots of similarities to big way and I find the vegetable quality is better.
Service is great. The staff are attentive and efficient.
Best of all, the ice cream taiyaki is great, although sometimes the cone isn’t crispy enough. Thankfully, it was extra crispy for our visit.

Piping Hotpot in Richmond offers a decent hotpot experience with a pay-by-weight system, which is great if you prefer to control your portion sizes and avoid waste. The variety of ingredients is quite good, with plenty of fresh meats, seafood, vegetables, and other hotpot essentials to choose from. Whether you’re craving classic thinly sliced beef or fresh seafood, there’s something for everyone.
However, the deep-fried section was a bit of a letdown. The selection was quite limited, and what was available didn’t look very appealing. The food was overly dark, clearly over-fried, and lacked seasoning, making it one of the weaker aspects of the meal. If you’re coming here with hopes of enjoying some crispy, flavorful fried snacks, you might be disappointed.
Service was okay—nothing particularly outstanding but also nothing to complain about. The staff was generally attentive and efficient, though it didn’t leave a lasting impression.
One of the highlights of the meal was the ice cream. It was a pleasant surprise and a great way to end the meal. The flavors were rich and creamy, making it a nice contrast to the savory hotpot experience.

Food:
Considering how many pay-by-weight hot pot restaurants there are in Vancouver, Piping Hot is currently my favourite (as you can tell from the multiple visit photos!). I’m usually a fan of spicy soup bases, but theirs isn’t my favourite—it’s spicy, but lacks depth compared to Dolar Shop’s version. However, their collagen broth and three delicacy soup broth have completely won me over. I’ve been going back consistently for those two, depending on my mood. It’s probably a good thing, too—despite my love for spicy food, my stomach can’t handle it like it used to, so cutting back is wise.
On the other hand, their garlic chili sauce at the sauce bar is fire! It’s unique to Piping Hot, and I think that’s a smart move—it really stands out.
Another highlight is their fried station. At first, it was more about the nostalgic feeling of hometown and childhood, but it’s worth noting that they’ve been updating their ingredients and adding more options. They now have radish cake, which used to be one of my favourites! I went for the spiciest option (without cumin), and it was delicious.
Finally, their taiyaki ice cream. When they first opened, it took us 40 minutes to get our ice cream—which was way too long. But since then, they’ve made huge improvements. There’s something about their continuous effort to improve that keeps me coming back. Some might say it’s inconsistent, but I think they’re moving in the right direction. Recently, they even introduced a new strawberry soft serve with strawberry-flavoured taiyaki!
Service:
Nothing particularly stands out. The staff are friendly and reasonably attentive. Orders are delivered promptly. Nothing exceptionally good or bad—just solid, average service.
Atmosphere:
It’s clean and cute. It’s also very busy most of the time, so I recommend joining the waitlist about an hour in advance during peak times, or 30 minutes ahead if there’s already a line. Before 5:30 p.m., you can usually walk in without a wait.
Ci Tea - a week ago
The restaurant offers a pretty good variety, especially with the “you pick” fried food option, which is a nice touch considering the rise of pay-by-weight hot pot places. However, the ice cream has changed since they first opened—it’s now more icy and less like soft serve. The broths could also be more flavorful, so if you’re looking for a richer taste, I’d recommend asking for medium or heavy spice. A few times when I visited, one of my toppings was missing, but the staff quickly helped me cook the missing item.

I recently went for dinner’s at Myth Grill & Yakitori Bistro in Richmond, and it was a delightful experience. The restaurant offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere, perfect for an evening out.
The menu is extensive, featuring a variety of yakitori options. I particularly enjoyed the Angus short ribs and chicken thigh skewers; both were grilled to perfection and bursting with flavor. The charcoal-grilled lobster was another highlight—succulent and well-seasoned. For dessert, the charcoal-grilled Japanese sweet potato with custard sauce was a unique and satisfying end to the meal.

The lunch deal is pretty good for what you get - we got the original fried pork loin cutlet set and wagyu beef don set. These sets come with salad, rice, and miso soup refills!
The cutlet was not overly greasy and crispy, and the don was extremely flavourful.

We were excited to celebrate a birthday dinner and try out a new yakitori restaurant, but we were disappointed with the food and service. First of all, it took ten minutes for the server to put in the order that we already typed out for her. For some reason, she needed our assistance with ordering on their restaurant platform. The food looked good visually, however, a lot of it lacked salt and seasoning. Particularly the pig intestine, which was not crispy at all and tasted like it was only boiled in water. The angus beef short ribs was perfectly cooked but also lacked seasoning. They gave us 4 dishes of different sauces, but that shouldn’t replace the basic seasoning of the skewers. Our favourite dish was probably the eggplant, which was super flavourful. Aside from that, everything else was mediocre.

I was very curious to try this place as it's the only Mexican place in a very Asian mall. I got the Super 2 (tacos) and 4 (burrito). It gets the job done if you have cravings for Mexican food. Both items I got were ground beef. It was surprisingly sweet, which I am not used to. I'm not a fan of the salsa as it's also sweet. Tater tots were random but it was really good. I ate all of the tots before I got home. I wished I saved some and ate it with my burrito. :)
I got my order very fast and it was ready in just a few minutes. The staff were nice and made sure my order was right. Honestly, I'd rather come here than Chipotle down the block. I can't wait for my next craving for Mexican food.

Taco Luis is usually busy at the Lansdowne food court. The Super 4 combo came with a large beef or chicken burrito, medium size tater tots, red salsa, and a fountain drink for $13.65 after tax. The service wasn’t fast but the staff gave a good amount of toppings. I thought their combo tasted better than Taco Bell.

Really delicious taco salad, chicken/beef burritos, and they have the best tasting salsa I’ve ever had.. perfectly sweet, tangy, and spicy. Service is always amazing! Top quality food
Beverly Chung - 3 months ago
I used to be a regular at Taco Luis in the Richmond food court, but my recent experience was disappointing. The meat, whether beef or chicken, was completely flavorless and unseasoned, making my tacos feel bland.
Additionally, I noticed a significant price increase that doesn't match the quality of the food. Even for a food court, the value just isn't there anymore. Taco Luis used to be a go-to spot for bold flavors and reasonable prices, but now it feels like a shadow of its former self.
I can't help but wonder if there's been a change in ownership or recipes, but whatever the cause, I can no longer recommend Taco Luis. There are likely better options nearby that offer more flavor and value. It's truly disappointing to witness such a downturn.

Still one of the best places to get a fast taco salad. Toppings are great and that deep and crisp shell really stands out. Miss the days when you could pour the salsa on top by yourself but I guess covid changes things. Crisp tater tots complete the meal.
Update: March 2024... glad to see their taco salad are still good.

I recently discovered a new poke bowl place in the heart of Richmond at Lansdowne Center. Their portions are super generous at a great price! The staff is also friendly, and the wait is never too long. My go to is their build-a-bowl with seaweed tofu, roasted yam, and whatever other veggies you want. If you are a bowl person, it’s like Freshii, but better with a Japanese fusion with all their different sauces. They are always super generous with their sauces, sometimes maybe a bit too much 😅 For one protein and three different vegetables, it’s just under $13! Where can you go to get such a good deal nowadays for such wholesome Asian vegetarian food? Definitely recommend! 👍🏼

I had a tasty meal here on a weekend afternoon. Despite arriving just before 3pm, the wait time was around 20-25 minutes. The portion sizes were generous, especially for the price, but I did wish there was a bit more curry to balance it out. Compared to other Japanese curry spots like Saku, this experience was well worth the $13!

Tucked in the corner of the food court at Lansdowne Centre, this hidden gem offers exceptional sushi at very reasonable prices.
Fresh seafood, large portions, and an assortment of dishes, the pictured "Chef Bowl," and the torched "Aburi Kaisen Bowl." were both priced under $20 each, and that's tremendous value for the quality and portion size.

The items are fresh and delicious. If you’re going for the hot comfort items the prices are reasonable. But for the poke bowls, it’s pricey any where you get them. But there’s definitely value here.
I love the ikura!
Next time I’ll try their tuna and chopped scallop bowl.
