This is a reliable choice in Richmond. The food is well done, if not too inventive, and value orientated. The restaurant was busy and seating was barside for this visit. Service was spotty and the wait to get the bill was too long by any standard. Everything was clean and the well worn decor was within expectations. This is a perfectly good choice if you are seeking a western focused menu in Richmond. It's busy though, so arrive with time to dine.

I met a former work colleague at the White Spot for lunch. We haven’t been at this location in eons as the former Richmond Centre site was easier access for us. Parking at the Ackroyd location can be challenging but we lucked out. We had the Monty Mushroom and the Legendary burger platters. The burger and fries were all to your usual White Spot quality and standards. The service was very businesslike without any chit-chatting. Like all restaurants, White Spot is also not immuned to inflationary costs but we were offered bottomless fries.

We always go to where our favourite waiter is. We were there today and I ordered the salmon burger for the last 3 visits. I can’t get enough…. Really love it! Had the strawberry cheesecake..delicious. Always enjoy our breakfasts there too! White Spot makes me happy!!!😁

Arrived at 7:30 on a Thursday to a family friendly bustling restaurant but were seated immediately. Host had good instinct and set us in a booth on the quieter side since we were 3 adults catching up after a long day of flying to see our daughter. Server was helpful and our food arrived quickly. The best part was that sizes of meals were enough but not overwhelming had it not felt like a 10 pm dinner for me I would have totally ordered something larger off the menu but instead we stuck with lunch size menu items. Food was delicious home style healthy meals that I was able to go back to hotel and fall fast asleep. We parked but you could easily have walked to the sky train and used public transportation from airport hotels.

Came for dinner. Overall the food was ok… typical White Spot food. We had all ordered some flavour of a burger or sandwich. Everything on the plate was ok, except for the fries. They tasted burnt and very dry, like they’ve been deep fried several times. The picture I took is actually a refill, thinking that maybe they had just served us older fries, but they came the same way. When we asked the server about the fries, she went to the kitchen to check and came back saying that the fries were all like that. Disappointed, but I guess you can’t really expect much from White Spot 😔

I hadn't been to KFC in a way but I actually enjoyed what I got. The prices are really good and a large popcorn chicken along with large fries was perfect for two people. I was actually surprised by the portion sizes given BC standards!

Was okay service. Could not really understand the cashier (didn’t get her name) and it seemed like she was being so quick about it when there was no line up behind me - but it may be because since it was about 15 minutes until closing time. Took a while to get my food. I feel like there should be more drink options for the fountain. You get extra sauces as a bonus (I’m not sure how) and I noticed when a customer asked for salt, the cashier gave him a few which I found generous since many places don’t do that.

Last night, I ate inside this restaurant for the first time with my friends, and we had a wonderful experience. I ordered eight pieces of avocado sushi and eight pieces of smoked salmon with cream cheese sushi. Everything was delicious! The service was excellent and fast. Unlike other places where you have to wait a long time, our waiter brought our food quickly. The staff was also very friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself felt warm, cozy, and quiet. I highly recommend eating here!

this was my first time here, and all i gotta say is wow. my boyfriend and i walked in, and i immediately went to the washroom to wash my hands. i was gone all but 1 minute and when i returned, there was miso soup and green tea waiting for me at my table. quick service, generous portions at a great price, and overall a great experience. i will keep coming back. thank you!

Tokyo Joe is one of my go-to sushi spots, and it never disappoints. I keep coming back because their sushi tastes truly authentic and reflects real Japanese quality. The ingredients are fresh, the rolls are well-balanced, and the flavors are consistently excellent. On my most recent visit, I ordered one salmon avocado roll, two house rolls, two spicy salmon rolls, a dynamite roll, and an Alaska roll—all for just $65. That’s an amazing deal considering the quality and portion sizes. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which makes the dining experience even better. While the seating and service area is a bit tight, it doesn’t take away from the overall experience. If you’re looking for authentic Japanese sushi at reasonable prices with great service, Tokyo Joe is definitely worth visiting.

Such an awesome place. The owners are super awesome, I used to go here growing up since i was three and the lady even taught me how to use chopsticks. They got rid of their signing musical fish unfortunately though. We do not live the BC anymore, but every time we make the long drive back to visit, we make sure to stop by this restaurant. The service is so quick too. Literally the only cons about this place is that i wish i lived closer to it and that it still had the singing fish🐠

I have seen this food truck for a while and finally caught it when it's opened. Seeing not a lot of people I was wondering would it be good, but I was blown away. The skewers are cheaper than outside and just tasted so amazing. Seasoned perfectly and grilled to perfection. Eating outside with the setting sun definitely sets a good mood to enjoy the food. Definitely need to try the lamb kidney, chicken knee, chicken soft bone and meat, beef tongue, and must order the Naan, it is more Northern Chinese Naan bread, and it is so soft and pillowy, we ate both of them so quickly. A must try in richmond.

This spot is great for a nighttime snack, the skewers here cost less than the ones at the Richmond Night Market which is nice. 🍢👍🏻 Although they have an order online page on their website, it didn't work for me so I just called them to order. When I arrived I was able to pick up quite quickly and they tasted great too. 😋 5/5⭐

At the Dolar Shop at Lansdowne, and while it's definitely on the pricier side compared to many other hot pot spots around town, you do get a more premium experience from start to finish. One thing I appreciate is that the meal comes with more than just the hot pot itself. The sauce station is fully stocked, and there are complimentary appetizers, desserts, tea, candies, and snacks to nibble on throughout the meal. It's a nice touch that makes the higher price feel a little easier to justify. For broth, I went with the Chef's Creamy Pork Broth. Rich, smooth, and comforting without being too heavy. By the end of the meal, after all the meats and vegetables had cooked in it, the broth somehow tasted even better. The AAA Ribeye had good marbling, tender after a quick swish in the broth, and packed with flavour. The Boneless Wagyu Short Plate was equally impressive, with that buttery texture that practically melts away after a few seconds in the pot. Is The Dolar Shop the cheapest hot pot option in Richmond? Definitely not. But if you're looking for premium cuts of meat, quality ingredients, and a dining experience that feels a little more elevated than the usual hot pot outing, it's a place worth visiting.

Service is excellent. Hotpot soup base is flavorful. Good meat quality. Price on the high side. The sauce / snack / dessert bar is worth it. They promote paying by cash. If you wanna pay with credit card, you will need to complete a survey in order to waive the transaction fee. We went there for dinner the other day. Price is a lot more expensive. Given there are lots of hotpot places elsewhere, it’s becoming more competitive.

Went for lunch during happy hours and they had a special menu going on and decided to go with that. Food options came with free bar and made it very acceptable for its higher prices. There is also free ice cream at the end. The servers were very helpful and explained a lot of their options. Very impressed with their knowledge. The atmosphere was amazing as it feels very high end. Even the washrooms were very good, clean, and well maintained. Would come here again for special occasions. 5 stars overall.

First time in this restaurant, but definitely not the last. The servers were amazing, the food very fresh and nicely displayed, very clean. Even the washrooms are beautiful, very well maintained . We went for dinner not all you can eat. Lots of choices. The only thing that I would improve is to add a long handle soup ladle for easier acces in the soup bowl.

The last time we where here was during their soft opening and we loved the place, so I decided to bring my wife here for her birthday. I'm glad to see that every was still top notched. All the food we ordered was absolutely delicious, and beautifully presented. Every dish was perfectly prepared, and very flavourful. The service was amazing. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made up feel welcomed. Special shout out to Juju for providing outstanding service. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and professional from start to finish. She had some wonderful recommendations. One downside though. I realized our birthday cake was complimentary, but it was barely a mouthful. Over at Gordon Ramsay's, they offered us a full size dessert for free.

Had such an amazing birthday dinner tonight at House of Dawn in Richmond. From the atmosphere to the food, everything felt elevated and memorable. Every dish was beautifully prepared, full of flavor, and the service truly made the night special. A huge thank you to Yunsu for taking such great care of us throughout the evening. Came here to celebrate Father’s Day. So glad to find there’s great fine dining option right in the center of Richmond! Food and atmosphere is great. Yunsu was our server. We was very knowledgeable in the food and made great recommendations. The place is very easy to talk, they did a great job with the acoustic. Most importantly, the food was great! Definitely will be coming back again :)

Tried the 10oz Prime Rib cooked medium and it was really good. The steak was nice and tender, easy to cut and chew, and the steak sauce made it even better. The mashed potatoes and asparagus were fantastic too and went really well with the steak. The restaurant itself is beautiful with a really elegant and upscale atmosphere. I loved the interior and overall vibe of the place. Everything was cooked nicely and the whole meal was delicious. Definitely enjoyed my experience at House of Dawn and would come back again!

We had an amazing dinner at House of Dawn Steakhouse today. We ordered the Tenderloin BMS 9+, F1 Japanese Wagyu, and Wagyu Bolognese, and everything was surprisingly delicious. The steak was incredibly tender and almost melted in the mouth. The Wagyu Bolognese was also very impressive — rich, flavorful, and full of aroma. Our server Yunsu was especially wonderful, with a very friendly and attentive attitude that made the whole dining experience even better. Honestly, this restaurant can definitely compete with, and even beat, many of the well-known steakhouses in Yaletown. The quality of the food, service, and overall experience were excellent. We would definitely come back again and highly recommend this place!

Newly opened chaa chang teng next to Staples on Ackroyd. We were just walking by and saw that the menu seemed interesting. Didn't realize they are still in their soft opening and opened exactly a week prior to this review. It's a very small restaurant with seating for maybe 24 people max. Their restaurant name implies that they should be a rice noodle focused restaurant but the menu leads to a more traditional hk chaa chang teng style restaurant. We ordered off the lunch special menu and had the coconut curry with pork chop, and the mapo Tofu. Both dishes were very salty and the curry was surprisingly spicy. They should indicate on the menu that the curry is spicy. Otherwise the flavours were acceptable. The hk milk tea had very little tea flavour and is extremely sweet if you don't modify it. Tasted more like a bubble tea. All in all we'd be willing to give them another try as they are just soft opening.

Tried this place out and it was a huge disappointment. We waited 45 minutes just to get a table, and another 30 minutes for our food to arrive. It completely failed to live up to the hype! It’s trending on Xiaohongshu only because they give away free curry fish balls in exchange for reviews. Don't be fooled by the aggressive marketing, the quality is nowhere near what they advertise. The soup base was extremely mediocre and the presentation was unappetizing. To top it off, the waiter even casually mentioned that the owners are actually a family from Xinhui, Guangdong. They are just using "Hong Kong style" as a gimmick, it's totally unauthentic unfortunately

Claims to be authentic Hong Kong style, but it is clear actual HKers are not the target audience. They do a lot of social media marketing in the 🇨🇳platform and offer free fish ball to get posts, which is what brought us in. Unfortunately, the food and drinks do not live up to the hype. Tried ordering iced milk tea and was told they had no ice, which is a bit of a joke for a HK cafe. The mixian (rice noodles) had way too much MSG and tasted nothing like authentic HK style. You can also tell their online ads are AI generated and not even proofread. The male waiter was friendly enough, but the service overall felt a bit performative. Save your money.

I wanted to like this place but I ate something that made me sick. I ordered the Laksa soup base and it was the oddest tasting laksa I’ve ever had. It didn’t have any coconut flavour. It didn’t really have any curry flavour too. It just tasted off and quite spicy. Normally I am ok with spice so I don’t think that was the issue. I ended up just using the BBQ sauce from the sauce station. I mixed my own using Chinese BBQ sauce, garlic, spring onions, coriander, sugar, soy sauce and a bit of sesame oil to make the hot pot contents taste better. Anyway I couldn’t finish my meal and I had to leave before I even got my taiyaki dessert. I ended up with stomach problems for a couple days after. I went with others and they got different soup bases and they were all fine. My guess is the laksa was bad. I also want to say the beef was terrible. It was grisly and you could not bite it. Get the fatty beef, it’s much better. Thankfully it didn’t sound like I missed much in the dessert. I was told it was pretty bland taiyaki. Also for the fried food we asked for no spice be put on but they still put the spice on so a couple people with us didn’t like it. It was well fried though. Everything came out crispy and hot. A bonus. They gave a choice of free drinks with the meal. It’s not from their whole drink menu. When you go pay they will show you about 6 drinks you can choose from. It’s soy milk and some flavoured teas. Not sure if this was a limited time promo or you need to spend a certain amount to get the drink.

Came here with some friends after a long day of shopping and walking around, we were not let down. We had to wait a bit for a table but that’s understandable, make sure to join the waitlist haha! Their selection of food items was great, and the quality of it all looked great. Usually the vegetables look a bit sad at self-serve places I’ve been to before but everything was fresh and was delicious. Their sauce bar has a decent selection and their drink menu looked pretty good aswell. The staff are extremely friendly and kind. While we were waiting my friend was not so patiently waiting and one staff member playfully joked with us for a bit. Since my bowl was just over $20 as well I got a free drink, and their options were really good considering it was free! (I believe this was apart of their happy hour..?) The only thing I was a bit let down about was the tayaki was a bit stale, but other than that our experience was amazing. If you’re in the area definitely check them out:)

Truly a great experience. Once you arrive you are assigned a table. Then, you go build your bowl. There were both fried and hot pot options. The hot pot section had a large selection of ingredients to pick from. Afterwards, you go to the counter to weigh and pick your soup base. They give you a number to put on your table. The food came out quick and cooked well. The collagen pork bone broth was delicious! Don't forget the sauce bar near the entrance. It was not extensive, but it had all the basics. Ended the meal with the delicous ice cream taiyaki. Highly recommend this place! It is also great that they open late.

Pay by weight, grab yourself hotpot and fried items concept restaurant. If getting both then separate pots required! $42/kg. Service friendly and efficient! Soup base: signature spicy and 3 delicacies was my favourite. The 3 delicacies was like an enhanced version of the collagen pork broth. Lots of variety in terms of food selection. The deep fried stuff was better than I expected especially the lamb skewers. Love that they give free taiyaki ice cream at the end! Check the online waitlist before arriving to minimize your wait time during peak times!

The malatang here is truly addictive. The soup isn’t greasy at all, which makes it very easy to enjoy. It’s honestly the best malatang I’ve ever had. However, the noise after customers finish eating is a problem. The sound of staff clearing dishes is extremely loud, and the background music is also too loud. Many staff members stack and clear dishes very noisily, and the clattering can be heard from far away. If this could be improved, the dining experience would be perfect.

It was our first time at Myth Grill & Yakitori Bistro, and honestly, I think we found another favourite restaurant in Richmond. We came for the skewers and boy did this resto deliver. We had chicken heart, thigh, skin, liver, knee, and beef with different flavours like yuzu, teriyaki and sea salt. All the skewers we tried were grilled and seasoned perfectly. We probably had 30 sticks between the two of us. The skewers were reasonably priced around $3 to $5 each, and everything we tried was flavourful and satisfying. Another lovely surprise was the charcoal Grilled Hamachi Kamameshi. It was such a comforting rice dish, with great flavour and that crispy, slightly burned rice at the bottom that made it even better. For dessert, we tried the Charcoal Grilled Sweet Potato with Custard, and this one felt extra special to me. It reminded me of when I was young, grilling sweet potatoes back home. The custard was creamy but not too sweet, and the soufflé was delicious and unlike anything I’ve tried before. Our server was also lovely and attentive, which made the experience even better. Overall, we really enjoyed the food, service, and cozy experience. Myth Grill & Yakitori Bistro is definitely a new addition to our go-to restaurants in Richmond.

It was alright but pricey. No host greeted us at the door to check in despite workers making eye contact and walking by. They were busy and slow at the same time. Overall they have a lot of great food options and food was tasty and salty, but small portion for price. Grilled squid was so tasty and tender, definitely a must try but small for $19. Skewers ranged from $2-$7, they had really tasty smokey flavour and beef was tender. The lamb wasn’t as tender. The clam dish with wine sauce had really amazing fresh salty flavour. I felt that the Wagyu Gyudon was relatively expensive for the size at $16+ but tasty and worth it to try.

Swung by the restaurant to pick up dinner tonight. The wait was about 50 minutes (20 minutes in line and another 30 waiting for food), which is understandable for a popular new location. While waiting, I noticed an employee preparing drinks with one gloved hand and one bare hand. They rubbed ice over their bare hand, then immediately went back to making drinks without washing or drying it. I could clearly see their wet bare hand touching the inside rim of multiple cups while filling them. To make matters worse, when I got home, part of my chicken was still raw. The long wait wasn't an issue, but the food safety concerns were. Hopefully it's something the staff can address, as these are issues that should never happen and are important for maintaining customer confidence.
