Aberdeen Centre Reviews
Rated out of 5![]()
For many people who came from Hong Kong, Aberdeen Centre needs no introduction. For years, it has been quietly known as Richmond’s version of Tsim Sha Tsui — a place full of energy, food, crowds, and memories.
When I first landed in Canada years ago, Aberdeen Centre was one of the places I often came to. Back then, it already felt lively and familiar, especially during Lunar New Year, when lion dances filled the mall and the atmosphere truly felt festive.
Over the years, the mall has gone through renovations and changes, becoming more modern, but what impressed me this time was that some of the original food court stalls are still there — including one of the earliest siu mai and chicken feet shops. Seeing those long-standing vendors brought back many memories. Not many malls manage to keep both new development and old roots.
I was also pleasantly surprised to see that Candyland is still around. A shop like that surviving for so many years says a lot about the steady foot traffic and the role Aberdeen Centre continues to play in the community.
Another major improvement is Phase Two, which is now directly connected to the SkyTrain, with Aberdeen Centre Station right next to it. This has made the mall much more accessible, especially for people who don’t want to deal with parking.
That said, parking can still be challenging. Even on a non-weekend day, the mall was very busy, and finding a spot wasn’t easy. If you plan to dine or spend time browsing, coming earlier is definitely a good idea.
During Lunar New Year, Aberdeen Centre becomes almost a cultural hub — lion dances, flower markets, crowds shopping for festive items, and families gathering. It’s not just a shopping mall, but a place where community traditions continue.

If you are a visitor and interesting what is a modern Hong Kong style Chinese mall looks like, you should not miss this big mall.
I want to remind you about the parking rules and restrictions in the Golden Village area. Read the parking rules when you park your car.
There are a big food court locates in the third floor. You will have lots of choices of Asian food. The food court are big clean with high ceiling. You can sit there comfortably enjoying your food. The prices are still reasonable since you can get one main dish like fried rice, noodles, BBQ pork with rice for about $14.50 up with a free hot drink.
The mall is clean and well kept. The restrooms are enough for their customers even on weekend.
If the food court is not your cup of tea, there are many good restaurants too. Take your time to browse in the mall.
The parking is still a big problem if you go there on weekend. But you can take the sky train getting there, it takes only 5 minutes walk from the Aberdeen Station. You may also explore this area with many Asian malls and restaurants in the same time if you are using public transits.
They always have some new decorations for the season.

This is basically Hong Kong or Taipei air-lifted and dropped in Richmond! Very much the same vibe and same shops! Was a little tricky figuring out how to get from the Aberdeen Square parking lot into the Aberdeen Centre, but we did it.
Got two great things there: A Year of the Horse hoodie for only CAD$20 at the Chinese souvenir shop, and got my Pixel 7 battery changed for only CAD$110 + tax, which is about half what it costs in San Francisco and was done in 45 minutes.

Great little Asian inspired mall. I made the journey here for some souvenirs for my family back home. The location was great as it was right off the skytrain which made travelling there a breeze. Highly recommend to anyone looking for children’s toys, cards and collectibles

The architectural style of Aberdeen Centre in Richmond is really impressive, blending modern design with strong Asian influences. The layout and details feel both functional and full of character — a very well-done design.
