White Pine Beach is a picturesque lake located on Sasamat Lake in Belcarra Park. During the summer months visitors enjoy swimming in the warm water of Sasamat Lake. There are also good hiking trails and picnic facilities

This Greater Vancouver park has the only inland lake surrounded by mountains that you can get to solely by public transit during the summer months. Access is gained by taking the C26 shuttle bus from Port Moody Station on the Millennium Line. You can get within a 15 minute walk from the beach any time of year with the 181 or 182 bus.

The beach area is sandy and the drop off is gradual making this a perfect spot for swimming or just relaxing on the beach. The water can get quite warm during the summer months which helps make this a very popular destination for locals. The parking lots can fill up quickly. Of course that is not an issue if you are coming by bus.

The surrounding forests are populated with Douglas-fir, western hemlock, western red cedar, and Pacific silver fir adding to the west-coast setting. There is an easy to hike trail that will take you around the entire lake and to a couple of hillside lookouts. You can find a detailed description and map at .

A concession stand open during the summer months means you can always get something to eat without leaving the park.

White Pine Beach Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 Star Rating

5 Star Rating Absolutely beautiful in summer. The water is crystal clear and warm enough. There is a simple trail around the lake so you can go on it after swimming. Don’t forget your suncream/tanning oil and enjoy the sunny days.

5 Star Rating Updated on July 25, 2023- this is a lovely beach to spend a relaxing family day. BUT! Please make sure you keep an eye on your kids while they are swimming or playing in the water or with friends. Also, as of now no gas stoves or bbq is allowed on the beach. So pack a lot of fruits and salad and/pre-cooked food! Time to pull those tugged cooler bags out! Best beach near Vancouver area! It sure gets crowded on a nice sunny day so you may have to plan to start and reach early. There are six parking lots, lot F is the closet to the beach. All three were full at 11:30AM on a Sunday. I would also recommend bringing a wagon or cart to take stuff to the beach as it is a bit of a walk from the parking lots if you bring lots of things and plan to bbq/cook.

5 Star Rating Sasamat Lake and White Pine Beach are the best in the Lower Mainland for clean, warm water that’s fun for swimming, paddle boarding and floating. There is a concession stand that has a good selection but is very slow service, expect to wait in line for 30 minutes and another 15 for them to cook it. Arrive by 9am at the latest in summer to get parking, otherwise the gates will be closed and not opened again until 5pm. It’s a good spot for an evening swim as well.
