I recently dined at Le Grand Colbert. The food was absolutely excellent — beautifully prepared and full of flavor. Every dish we tried was spot on, which made for a really memorable meal.
The only downside was the service. While our waiter was polite, it felt like the attention was directed more toward the adjacent tables. It didn’t ruin the evening, but it did stand out in contrast to the otherwise outstanding experience.

This classic Parisian brasserie near Palais-Royal offers a delightful dining experience. The food was delicious, and despite the busy service later in the evening, the attentive staff ensured a pleasant atmosphere. The menu features solid French classics, and I particularly enjoyed the véritable boudin, a perfectly balanced blend of sweetness and richness, served with smooth mashed potatoes. It’s a great spot for traditional French cuisine in the 1st arrondissement.

It was my husband's and my last dinner after spending (literally) a lovely week in Paris celebrating 20 years together. I thought it might be fun to try the restaurant that was the preface for the romantic climax of 2003's "Something's Gotta Give". Playing an accomplished playwright, Diane Keaton wanted to celebrate her birthday at her favorite restaurant. What was nice was how this place looked and felt sophisticated and cinematic much like it was portrayed in the movie.
At the same time, tables were not scrunched together (like at Bofinger, for example) and it didn't feel all that stuffy. What was funny was that the menu cover stated "Diner Menu", which made me immediately think of a greasy spoon although the term 'diner' actually means 'dinner'. My French sucks. However, my confusion was not fully misplaced because shortly after we sat at our table, a small bowl of freshly crisp potato chips arrived along with a ramekin of marinated olives.
We started with our cocktail of choice, the 15€
Espresso Martinis, which we agreed were among the best we ever had. That might explain why we soon had a second round. The warm rustic bread arrived next with a typically crunchy crust and a soft middle which we slathered with their fresh butter. This led to the appetizers. My husband ordered the 21€ Whole Artichoke Heart which sat on a bed of arugula salad and was topped with a mound of Parmesan shavings.
I had never seen a heart that big on a plate. Quite refreshing with nice contrasts in texture. I went full Franco and ordered the 25€ Burgundy Large Escargots. There were nine plump ones in my order, and they were thoroughly delicious and not at all too chewy as they were soaked liberally in garlic butter. The snails were too big for the fancy pinchers they provided, but I speared them easily with the cocktail fork. Our entrees were even more masterfully prepared.
My husband had the 31 € Risotto with Crispy Zucchinis and Prawns. The dish was a creamy delight with five succulent prawns accompanied by zucchini and arugula. I went for the 33€ Braised Beef slowly cooked for seven hours and topped with braised carrots and parsley. So tender, much like an amazing pot roast, it could've fallen off the bone if there was a bone. It was accompanied by decadently creamy mashed potatoes and an add-on of buttery 8€ Green Beans.
Discretion be damned, however, as we went for dessert. Wanting to replicate the near-perfect floating island he had at Bofinger, my husband ordered the 14€ Floating Island. The meringue was not quite as airy, but the creme anglaise was a winner. I wanted a showy end to my meal and ordered the 18€ Baked Alaska, a delightful rendition of the traditional ice cream cake. It was stylishly flambed with rum. Dessert engulfed in a blue flame is what I call panache. In fact, the whole evening was quite amazing.
FOOD - 5 stars...classic French dishes executed with panache and satisfying flavors
COCKTAILS - 5 stars...the espresso martinis were impeccable
AMBIANCE - 5 stars...genuinely photogenic with a surprising sense of intimacy amid the packed tables...it's no wonder movies are shot in here
SERVICE - 5 stars...attentive, responsive, and ingratiating
TOTAL - 5 stars...if you're looking for the ideal Parisian dining experience, this be it

We stumbled across this restaurant after dinner. Saw the menu outside their door and decided to have a glass of wine, escargot and creme brulee. It was so good, we came back 2 days later to enjoy their formal dinner. This is now one of our top fav restaurants in Paris. The rack of lamb, duck confit, escargot, chanterelle mushroom and creme brulee were delicious. Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. Thank you Le Grand Colbert for a memorable dinner.

10/10 on food, service, ambience and vibes. From the seafood platter to grilled mains and dessert we were drenched in French cuisine. Also laughed all night messing around with the staff who were both attentive and hilarious. We would definitely be back

Stopped in for a quick cafe crème and received exceptional service. As an American, my French is not good, but one of the waiters was so kind to me and even taught me a few words to say! I’ll never forget him!

I've mostly come here to watch big sporting events - they generally have a projector up so it's easy to view even if it's busy (it often is). Prices are OK but service can be long when it's busy.

We loved this place! So glad we accidentally found it! Food was great, the wine was amazing and we felt like guests! Thank you for the advises, information about each dish, the various cheeses, salami - from which part of France they are coming ! This was atmosphere and attitude one cannot find anywhere! ✅️ Quick Service, qualitative food
🚫 Too quick ?
💰Meal + wine + coffee : 25€
Looking for a central place to lunch with an old friend, he gave rdv at Coinstot Vino.
Easy access, we are in the middle of the "Passage" very authentic.
The team is nice and feel "passionate"
The service was REALLY quick (like in 2 min). We can imagine they have the habit to deliver for the work people coming arround.
At first, it was really appreciable as we have been able to enjoy without rushing. But then, at the moment I've put my fork down for my last bite, someone was next to my face asking me if I was done 😳
SO! It was FAST and you CANT complain about it to a restaurant in Paris, BUT that ruined a bit the expérience as I felt rushed to finish
On the other hand, food was 8/10 ! With a menu changing EVERYDAY!
Florian Clevenot - 2 years ago
Starting with the positive, the service was great, while the place is nice. Although they have many organic wines, we were not provided with a wine list but orally proposed some bottles. The cheese/salumi platter was fair, but not even close to a good Italian selection as it is supposed to be.
Theo Grigoratos - 6 months ago
This place is wild. Like Paris from the '70s. Servers taking multiple orders, going to wrong tables, people standing "outside" smoking at their tables. Good wine list and decent pizza. The sauce is a bit mezze-mezze, but the dough is good and chewy. The mixed charcuterie plate is great.

This restaurant is in the passage, I come often for lunch. Really good Italian food! Strongly recommend.

Liza is by far the best Lebanese restaurant in Paris. From the moment I tasted the food, I genuinely felt at home. The salad was incredibly fresh, the meat was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, and every single dish was simply flawless. The warm atmosphere and authentic flavors made the whole experience unforgettable. Highly recommended!

A dear friend recommended us to eat at Liza. We hit the gold mine. First of all the food was absolutely DELICIOUS, I had the chicken kabobs with salad, it was to die for. Joseph brought us one of the best Espresso Martinis that I had in a very long time. Then followed by a Kiwi -Vodka shot, and then Basil Gin smashed, it was light, refreshing and delicious, and the cherry on the top were different types of Baklava, it was one of the best dinner that I’ve had in a very long time. Thank you so much to Joseph and Eli Joe for a fabulous dinner and ambiance. I 1000% recommend Liza when you are in Paris- France.

The mezze was pretty good but the meat was only okay. The atmosphere of the resto was nice. Service was friendly. Probably a good place for a group meal.
Jessica Tu - 4 months ago
This review is mainly for the food! The restaurant has a cool atmosphere and great service, however way too expensive for the quality of the product. Most importantly, if you are craving traditional lebanese food this won’t hit the spot.
I got the hummus, which was very silky but lacked flavor. The fattoush which was awesome, probably my favorite. The beef kibbeh which I didn’t like because it came with a sweet basil sauce that I just didn’t understand.
For the main we got the mixed grilled plate: chicken was nice and juicy, kebabs were flavorful but a bit dry. The star was the garlic sauce.
So overall decent food, but extremely overpriced. I wish their flavors were more traditional.

Best sole meunière I’ve tasted; lovely, buttery, they even prepared it by removing the bones. Lovely charcoal flavour on the entrecôte, cooked perfectly and a side of bone marrow, which was fantastically rich on a slice of delectable bread. Excellent crème brûlée. All of the deserts I saw going out were very generous and looked awesome.
They’re also lovely accommodating people, even patient with harried late tourists like myself.
Adam Hardi - a month ago
They were gracious enough to sit us at the last minute without a reservation. We sat outside on the square, which was a wonderful setting. Most of the French classics were delightful - maybe the best steak frites I’ve ever had, the sole was perfection, escargot amongst the best I’ve ever had. The mixed salad was just fine. If you go, and I’d recommend you do - expect to spend 2-2.5 hours at the table. This is also entirely not their fault / entirely on us, but it also helps to speak a tiny bit of French if you dine here (which we did not - and I think we were ignored a little bit as a result).

Charming, old school bistrot serving classic dishes. Chez Georges doesn’t take online reservations, so popped by in person and luckily got a spot for lunch the next day. Very good food (if a bit on the expensive side) with friendly staff who take pride in the food. Go after 1 pm for lunch if you want a buzzy atmosphere or earlier if you want a bit of room on either sides (as others have noted, tables are very close together - might as well be communal tables). I personally really enjoyed my lunch here and would come back to enjoy a classic bistrot meal anytime.
Amy Kim - 2 months ago
Unfortunately, this was a disappointment for me - maybe my expectations were too high. The food is top and tastes great, but is lovelessly presented, and the service is mostly silent and cold.
If I pay 29 € for a “Foie Gras”, I expect more than a slice on an otherwise empty plate, with nothing with it - maybe a spoonful of confit or a toast or some green?
The seating is incredible tight, all tables for two touch each other in a long row, and if you breathe in, you already push the table.
Will Pirnasch - 5 months ago
Based on a friend's recommendation I reserved a table and had a nice, relaxing evening in mind.
However, the seating was so tight that you had to remove the table first before you could take a seat on the bench. The setting was nice with white tablecloth etc. but the service was rushed and I felt like they push us through the dinner. The food quality was excellent but I wished there were more vegetables on my Chicken Supreme dish. I also missed the garnish and some additional details on the plate in a restaurant of this class. We skipped dessert because we didn't enjoy being there. I know it's difficult to manage the high demand but maybe it would be better to seat a few less people and provide more atmosphere.

My husband and I went for dinner, we were hoping for a more traditional Italian restaurant, but it wasn’t. The food I ordered I liked, but my husband was less of a fan of his dish. There was miscommunication between the servers and the assistants because they kept taking plates and silverware away then bringing back new ones, all of which was clean. Overall I thought it was good, definitely interesting food, and worth a try! Oh and the tiramisu is on point for sure!

Mori is a fantastic find! The food is outstanding - delicious, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The live music adds to the wonderful ambiance, making the experience even more enjoyable. The service is exceptional - professional, warm, and friendly, which is quite rare in Paris. Every detail is carefully considered, creating a truly memorable evening. We will definitely return!

A very nice, quiet and cozy setting.
The drinks and food are good but grossly overpriced (I've had similar if not better quality for half the price).
The restaurant's prime Parisian location certainly plays a part in the price, but nearby places manage to keep it reasonable.
The service is obsequious to the point of being disturbing.
I understand that some people might enjoy this kind of interaction, it simply is not for me.

Such a lovely group of people. I enjoyed my time there, the food was good, and the service was wonderful. I was recommended after asking about traditional French dishes and enjoyed both an appetizer and main course.

My husband and I visited this restaurant during our trip in mid September. They are open late and serve food late which is how we ended up going there. Their French onion soup is watery with no cheese. We tried frog legs for the first time and it was delicious!

Good traditional French food. It’s somewhere between fancy and home cooking. The price is also nice for a 2-3 course meal. The servers are very nice but you could clearly tell that they were understaffed. They were working so hard but just couldn’t keep up with the workload and the number of customers. I hope the owner hires more servers for everyone’s sake.

These guys put the trad into traditional, with decent food, friendly search, typical atmosphere and great value.
Wednesday night dinner was a regular affair, filled with foie gras du canard, beef tartae, swordfis and Paris-brest, all of which were excellent.
If you want a no nonsense, if not up-to-date, lunch or dinner experience in Paris, this is the place to go, even as a tourist.
Recommended!
Vincent Roman - 4 months ago
The onion soup was fine. The frog legs and foie gras lacked taste, in my opinion. The beef bourguignon was really not good because the meat was undercooked. The potatoes were prepared separately from the beef and added to the dish later before serving it; therefore, they were hard and lacked flavour. The veal also lacked flavour. The duck was quite good. I would recommend onion soup and duck. I tried crème brûlée for dessert—it was tasty, but the consistency was incorrect.
On the other hand, the servers were friendly.

Not as good as in the past. The starters were fine although the terrine was quite basic. The pork was good, the quenelles were dry and overcooked. The 2 desserts ,chocolate and crème caramel were
not so good - both too firm - maybe because they are transported from elsewhere. The service was very good and very friendly.

Aux Lyonnaise is everything you hope for in a true Parisian bistro. The menu celebrates classic Lyonnaise cooking with flawless execution. The quenelles are light and delicate with a rich sauce that lingers in the best way. The veal and sausages are deeply flavorful and perfectly cooked. Every plate feels thoughtful and rooted in tradition.
Service is warm, attentive, and knowledgeable without being overbearing. The staff guide you through the menu and wine list with confidence and make excellent pairing suggestions. Courses arrive at a steady pace so you can enjoy the meal without feeling rushed.
The dining room blends old Paris charm with a lively atmosphere. Tables are close enough to feel the buzz but still comfortable for conversation. From the first pour of wine to the final espresso, every detail shows pride and care. Aux Lyonnaise is a destination for anyone who wants authentic Lyonnaise cuisine in the heart of Paris.

The restaurant and decor are amazing. The food was ok by DLP standards and the service excellent.
