We were a bit surprised to find such a charming place, with fantastic food so close to the Notre Dame, but this is Paris, not London, so maybe we shouldn't have been!
Massive shout out to the brilliant woman running the floor (I am going to assume she owns the joint) who happily took pity on my school boy French and chatted to us so amusingly in English. She also suggested the tiramisu for dessert - and if you taste it, you will understand why. I still ordered (as well) the crème brulee which was also a sensation. She was less happy about my asking for some butter and in fairness the bread was so good it didn't really need it. But y'know, butter.

The cozy atmosphere and wonderful service made this dining experience a true highlight to our trip. The food was delicious and fresh. It was a hearty, homemade French meal. My husband had baked fish and I had a ratatouille quiche. This did not feel like a space where many tourists visit. It was a wonderful find for us and gave us a chance to experience French cuisine not too far from our hotel. The server and chef were gracious. It is a place we hope to return to someday.

Agree with other reviews-a cozy spot sans tourists. Garlicky onion soup, house made bread, salad and a glass of wine sitting by the windows and the heater was a perfect lunch after an hour wait to enter Ste. Chapelle and walking around the just reopened Notre Dame. The server was very pleasant and wanted to get our order in “before the chef flies away.”

Wonderful little spot— not touristy despite being in a touristy area! My husband and I stumbled in for delicious onion soup on a chilly afternoon when the cute ambiance caught our eye. Ended up chatting a lot with our server who was very friendly and gave us recommendations for our stay!

Great place to have a semi-formal meal. I went there for lunch. They took me in right away, was very accommodating, and loved the decor and atmosphere. I had the steak frites, medium. Cooked great, food was delightful, and they recommended a very good accompanying French red wine. Glad I stepped in! Will visit again.

Very enjoyable on first day of our return to Paris! Recommended by Eric at Hotel Sue as dependable and not tourist driven. Had lovely meal outside at reasonable prices with friendly and professional service. Nice kir and pastis to start, escargot, solid plats, fromage. Very enjoyable!

If you are in the latin quarter (or even if you’re not nearby), make time for a visit to Le Balzar. The staff were so kind and always went above and beyond with their service. If you happen to stop by at a quiet moment you might see all the staff sharing seated meal together - a true testament to how they treat eachother and their customers. My husband and I stopped by on our first morning in Paris and ended up returning every single day during our week-long stay either for a quick drink, their petit-dejeuner, or a delicious meal and wine.

It was like magic! Finding such a quality place in a busy and touristic Saint Michel area was not expected! It's a real gem, the food is so tasty and the portions are big. I recommend you to order chicken for the entrée;)

Everything was very good and authentic but the Bengali fish curry wasn’t exactly what we expected . Good for trying for the first time . Atmosphere and staff was very friendly and the location of the restaurant was very near and accessible to everyone.

We booked this place based on Google reviews and were very satisfied. The staff were very hospitable, spoke English enough for us to order with no errors and were polite as ever. We ordered drinks, starters and mains and were not left waiting despite it being relatively busy. The food was outstanding. The lamb korma has to be one of the best I’ve had. I would highly recommend this place if you are visiting Paris and are looking for good dinner vibes in the Latin quarter. Ask for a seat by the window for some people watching entertainment!

Customer service was excellent. Warm and friendly. Waiters were attentive and pleasant.
Nice deco, clean resto.
The food was good, but to be honest, it’s not the best Indian food that I have. A little bit bland compared to some other restaurants I have been but, still very flavorful because Indian food is naturally quite flavorful, so the curry sauces were just a tad less what I was expecting.
The soup in the entrée was quite delicious. I was expecting the samosas to be a little better, but hey, I still ate them because they weren’t bad.
They served us some nice cumin crackers (not on the menu, included in the service, so no additional charge) with some sauces, which included pepper sauce. I think it would be a good idea to leave these sauces on the table during the main course, for guests who wish to add some to their dish.
19euros for a 3 course meal (reasonable price for that area). Just wish we had a few more choices in that formula. Overall it was a nice experience.

Atmosphere is super nice. Some people play music and sing. Food is very tasty and waiters are very nice and welcoming. Recommend it for sure for a typical and special french dinner.

Had a lovely salad and crème brûlée. The street side seating was very nice with a view of an old church. We enjoyed the singer. The service was fine. The people watching was great.
Doreen O'Donovan - 4 months ago
We came to the restaurant for a late dinner around 10 PM.
The place operates as a piano bar, with a live pianist and a singer who moves around the restaurant and performs near the tables. While this concept might appeal to some, it may not suit everyone – especially when the singer approaches your table while you're in the middle of chewing your food.
We ordered two burgers and a steak. Unfortunately, the food was rather disappointing. The burgers were dry, served in equally dry buns, and lacked flavor. The steak, although requested medium, arrived lukewarm and overcooked to well-done.
Overall, while the atmosphere may appeal to fans of live music and performance dining, the food did not meet expectations. It’s a place that might work for the experience, but not necessarily for the meal itself.

A drink after the concert at the church opposite. Long island iced tea tasted a bit funny. Good view of Notre dame cathedral. Singer not the best & had to push past him to get to toilet.

Second time in this place, this time weekend and it was just wonderful. Ambiance, live singing and piano, delicious food and drinks, friendly staff. This is a place for people who love live singing and edgy panache atmosphere. We were lucky to have different performers and everyone is so talented. This place is for people with a soul 🥰 who appreciate warmth ams passion vibes. I always make reservations to guarantee immediate availability. Gets really busy after 9pm.

Delicious food and surprising flavours. Attention was perfect. Waiters first serve the different dishes and, when you finish, they come to the table to discuss the ingredients in an interactive way (I recommend to take pictures so you can still see the dishes after you eat them).
Only point to improve would be that sometimes the waiting time between dishes was very slightly longer than desirable.
Marco Casas Alonso - 3 weeks ago
Amazing food and great service. Good selection of wines as well. Japanese and French cooking merged into an Amazon omakase experience. High quality produce and sustainably used as well. Now while the attention to detail is fantastic and flavors are really good, I have to state that the portion size is on the smaller side. All tasting menus are of course smaller but this menu felt a lot smaller - get the mains (fish and venison) to be portioned bigger, something the team should work to improve.

This experience was truly one-of-a-kind and unforgettable. The food was exceptional, bursting with freshness and incredible flavors. From the incredible ingredients, the interactive communication with the incredible staff where you had to guess the ingredients of each dish to the charming custom of removing your shoes and slipping into slippers, just like in Japan, every detail enhanced the authenticity and beauty of the experience.
I cannot wait to come back to Paris just for this restaurant. It was an honour

Truly enjoyed my evening here. The service was superb - so fast and thoughtful. The waiter saw me struggling to get service on my phone and immediately connected me to the Wifi!
Very rare indeed.
The band were highly skilled.
I’ve been watching live Jazz bands around the World and I knew immediately they were top notch. I just wish that other guests were more respectful to the musicians and staff.
We encountered some very rude people who kept talking so loudly over the musicians and seemed interested in only recording videos for their social media (??) I thought they were also very rude to the kind waiter when they asked loudly “MENUUUUU. You know MENU?”. The waiter was most professional in dealing with them.
The food and wine was fantastic. My friend had the chicken fingers - so crispy and juicy. I had the charcuterie and the cheese was so yummy.
A most comfortable place. Clean and with AC. Highly recommend this lovely spot.
My friend and I really enjoyed ending our night out here.
We felt safe and welcomed - most important for female travellers. I hope to come here again soon.

We came to Monk for a late dinner and since it was pouring rain outside we decided to take a table deep inside the restaurant. From our table we could see the water running down the cobblestone street and hear the thunders but we were warm and protected from the wind and cold.
We had the hamburger without the cheese and beef tab with French fries. Both portions were big enough to satisfy the strong appetite. The beef was very tender and juicy. It was served with a tiny dish with caramelized onions and a small garden salad.
The service was quick and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The prices are reasonable too.
It was interesting to hear Freddy Mercury, Queens, The Weekend and Ariana Grande as a background music in France.
We also ordered a warm chocolate dessert with a vanilla ice cream, but couldn’t finish it. It was very good, only we overestimated our abilities. 😊
We had our very late dinner and when we left around 11:00 pm and there were still people in the restaurant.
I definitely recommend you to try this place.

We've been visiting this jazz club for several years now. Earlier this month, we lucked out and were there for the late Sunday night jam session. We had a blast! The music was fabulous, the crowd enthusiastic, the staff as welcoming as ever. It feels like a real slice of Paris life.

This is my favorite place in Paris!!! The potato gratin was the best thing I ate and I’ve been craving it! It was perfect! I was worried about the vegan cheese but it was delectable and smooth. I have eaten a lot of potatoes in my life but this was by far the BEST!
The wait staff was so sweet! One of the waiters even took our picture. We were thrilled.
This place is a very short walk from Notre-Dame. It’s an idyllic cafe!

Apparently, this is the oldest vegetarian restaurant in France, in activity since 1978! It's in an incredibly (and unexpectedly) quiet street literally 100 meters from Notre Dame, and it's a very nice restaurant. I had lunch with my family there and we had the basmati rice with veggies, the baked potatoes and sweet potatoes + veggies + tofu with sauce (spicy!), and the two vegan desserts (I would certainly recommend the brownie with ice cream - you can choose the flavour). I appreciate the possibility to get traditional/naturally vegan dishes here, rather than fake meat or other vegan dishes that you can find in several vegan restaurants nowadays. We also ordered some baked potatoes for my kid and they were reeeeeeeally good!

Loved this stunning little veggie spot. The staff was very nice and accommodating, moving tables to let 5 of us dine together with no booking. One vegan, one vegetarian, one gluten free and a couple omnivores, and we were all satisfied! We also shared a lovely bottle of white wine. My favourite type of food is always vegan meals centred around plants and whole foods, and this place does that very well. Great flavours and variety, and good portion sizes!
Kristina Jensen - 3 months ago
Cozy place with excellent food and great choices. Some of the most flavourful vegetarian dishes I’ve ever tasted. Seitan and tofu proteins used extensively, with less focus on lentils and beans in dishes. Great choices for non alcoholic drinks. Make a reservation though as the place is super popular!

In a very cold winter day, after walking for hours in the city, The Tea Caddy was a nice stop to warm up a bit. They have a big collection of tea. One tea pot can serve 2-3 mugs of tea and it’s quite nice. Service is helpful with your order.

Perfect dinner with this perfect restaurant in Paris. Outside the restaurant looks ordinary, does not look grandeur but don't judge the book by its cover as they say,you have to try and dine. Staff are friendly, professionals and most of all the foods are sumptuous down to desserts too! Definitely recommended if you are going to be in central Paris. I had a fantastic and unforgettable dinner with family (7 of us with a child) and they love the food. My nephew,Carl search this place and It was worthwhile trip to the restaurant. Tip: in the picture was the wine they offered and it tasted so good we had 2 bottles! and the price was affordable. It tastes slightly sweet white wine so if you are not into sweet, dry white wine then it's not for you. I had steak and it went well, too. Thank you,we will definitely go back whenever we are in Paris! 🤗💕Merci!

This was a hit & miss type of place. They opened at 7.30 pm but were not prepared when we arrived for our booking. The decor is dated, dusty eclectic. The service was very selective. If you were the 2 young girls on the other table, you got much attention, but we got minimal. My partner got the sea scallop flan & suckling pig & he was happy. The gnocchi, salmon & vegetable tajine were okay. The house red was rough. We left on a flat feeling.

This restaurant was a cute and quaint place with good food and service. It was in a lovely area to go out in afterwards. My scallop and artichoke dish was AMAZING and the flavours were outstanding. It was slightly on the more expensive end but good for a night out.

Great service and amazing staff. Very friendly.
The food was brought out in a timely manner and hot. Everything we got was just perfect. I actually was not sure I could fit in the apple pie dessert but after having a couple bite, I found room.
The restroom was clean.
