Lovely atmosphere in a space that used to be a bookstore many years ago. Picturesque setting with delicious food. One of the dishes that was ordered was vegetarian, cooked from scratch and tasted carefully prepared.”

We were a bit surprised to find such a charming place, with fantastic food so close to the Notre Dame, but this is Paris, not London, so maybe we shouldn't have been!
Massive shout out to the brilliant woman running the floor (I am going to assume she owns the joint) who happily took pity on my school boy French and chatted to us so amusingly in English. She also suggested the tiramisu for dessert - and if you taste it, you will understand why. I still ordered (as well) the crème brulee which was also a sensation. She was less happy about my asking for some butter and in fairness the bread was so good it didn't really need it. But y'know, butter.

The cozy atmosphere and wonderful service made this dining experience a true highlight to our trip. The food was delicious and fresh. It was a hearty, homemade French meal. My husband had baked fish and I had a ratatouille quiche. This did not feel like a space where many tourists visit. It was a wonderful find for us and gave us a chance to experience French cuisine not too far from our hotel. The server and chef were gracious. It is a place we hope to return to someday.

It was my last night in Paris and my goal was to get duck. Very tasty Duck Confit at this old establishment fit the bill. Tasty side potatoes and attentive service. We arrived at 7pm before the Saturday dinner rush but the two of us were able to grab an inside table without a reservation with a warning that we’d only have an hour before being hustled out. That never happened. I kind of regret not ordering the entrecôte - it looked absolutely massive, and I was tempted to make off with the giant chunk o beef the old American lady next to us couldn’t eat!

Very enjoyable on first day of our return to Paris! Recommended by Eric at Hotel Suez as dependable and not tourist driven. Had lovely meal outside at reasonable prices with friendly and professional service. Nice kir and pastis to start, escargot, solid plats, fromage. Very enjoyable!

Great place to have a semi-formal meal. I went there for lunch. They took me in right away, was very accommodating, and loved the decor and atmosphere. I had the steak frites, medium. Cooked great, food was delightful, and they recommended a very good accompanying French red wine. Glad I stepped in! Will visit again.

If you are in the latin quarter (or even if you’re not nearby), make time for a visit to Le Balzar. The staff were so kind and always went above and beyond with their service. If you happen to stop by at a quiet moment you might see all the staff sharing seated meal together - a true testament to how they treat eachother and their customers. My husband and I stopped by on our first morning in Paris and ended up returning every single day during our week-long stay either for a quick drink, their petit-dejeuner, or a delicious meal and wine.

It was like magic! Finding such a quality place in a busy and touristic Saint Michel area was not expected! It's a real gem, the food is so tasty and the portions are big. I recommend you to order chicken for the entrée;)
What you see in the picture is just starters!

Atmosphere is super nice. Some people play music and sing. Food is very tasty and waiters are very nice and welcoming. Recommend it for sure for a typical and special french dinner.

Had a lovely salad and crème brûlée. The street side seating was very nice with a view of an old church. We enjoyed the singer. The service was fine. The people watching was great.

Second time in this place, this time weekend and it was just wonderful. Ambiance, live singing and piano, delicious food and drinks, friendly staff. This is a place for people who love live singing and edgy panache atmosphere. We were lucky to have different performers and everyone is so talented. This place is for people with a soul 🥰 who appreciate warmth ams passion vibes. I always make reservations to guarantee immediate availability. Gets really busy after 9pm.

A drink after the concert at the church opposite. Long island iced tea tasted a bit funny. Good view of Notre dame cathedral. Singer not the best & had to push past him to get to toilet.
Paul Harness - 5 months ago
I went last night to celebrate my birthday on my first night in Paris and unfortunately left really disappointed. The food was genuinely good and the first singer was amazing, beautiful voice, great energy, and perfect song choices.
But once the later singers started, everything changed. The volume shot up to around 110 dB, and they were literally screaming into the mic. It was so loud that it actually hurt our ears and completely ruined the night. Definitely not how I imagined spending my birthday.
If you’re sensitive to loud music, I’d recommend leaving once the girl singers start. Great place for food, but the sound levels seriously need improvement.

Returning to Sola for my second visit, I was seated in the Japanese-style stone cellar downstairs. The atmosphere remains undeniably poetic, and the chef’s philosophy—reflected in the artistic, broken tableware—commands deep respect.
The tasting menu was a journey of delicate precision. The Saint-Jacques (Scallops) paired with persimmon and soy ricotta offered a surprising yet harmonious texture, while the main course of Canard (Duck), served with chanterelles and a garlic-soy sauce, was cooked to absolute perfection, rich and savory.
However, a few practical notes for future diners. As the staff graciously warned, there is zero phone or internet signal in the basement. I was expecting important calls, which made the disconnection a bit stressful. If staying online is vital for you, request a table on the ground floor.
Additionally, Sola’s signature service style is interactive, often asking guests to "guess" ingredients before revealing them (blind tasting). While this fosters fun communication, it can feel like a task when you simply want to unwind. When I expressed a preference to skip the guessing and just hear the explanations, the staff kindly stopped immediately and guided me through the menu with ease.
For first-time visitors: if you are seeking pure healing rather than an intellectual challenge, do not hesitate to let the staff know. Their flexibility turned a good meal into a truly comfortable experience.

We had a truly wonderful experience at Sola the food was absolutely amazing, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The atmosphere was warm and refined, and the service (once seated) was impeccable. It’s clearly a special place, and we had been looking forward to this evening for weeks.
However, one unfortunate detail left a bitter taste at the start of the evening. Despite booking more than a month in advance and having a written confirmation email, we were told upon arrival that there was no reservation under our name. The restaurant was fully booked, and we were left standing awkwardly at the entrance, trying to explain that we were not mistaken and didn’t want to leave.
After about 15 minutes of discomfort and insistence, we were finally seated but the feeling of having to “prove ourselves” really took away from what was meant to be a joyful and celebratory moment. It felt unnecessarily humiliating.
That said, we’re glad we stayed. The dinner was exceptional, and we’re grateful for the experience overall. I only hope the reservation process is improved because everything else truly deserves praise.

I came with my friend for dinner omakase menu. There were a few selections I liked (I think I'm a picky eater), and she liked everything that was served, which made me feel like the dinner was overall successful
I particularly liked the mushrooms and rice dish. There is an option to get a foie gras topper on it, but we chose not to
I personally didn't like the guessing of ingredients. I'm not much for fine dining and I'm a foreigner, so sometimes I couldn't understand what the staff was saying due to accents (even though they are fluent in English). It might be helpful to have an option for placards/print to explain instead, and that would also allow me to look up specific terms and techniques used in the dish
However, this part of the experience is totally down to preference and some people may enjoy a guessing game
We booked a reservation in advance so there was no wait. We were there for 3,5 hours and left feeling full 👍
Charlotte Van Halen - a month ago
Delicious food and surprising flavours. Attention was perfect. Waiters first serve the different dishes and, when you finish, they come to the table to discuss the ingredients in an interactive way (I recommend to take pictures so you can still see the dishes after you eat them).
Only point to improve would be that sometimes the waiting time between dishes was very slightly longer than desirable.
Marco Casas Alonso - 4 months ago
Chef Nabeta's creativity has not diminished since the last time we've visited! Every dish is a journey worth waiting for, and our group had a great time trying to decipher the ingredients behind each course. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal here, and will look forward to visiting again next time we're in Paris.

Truly enjoyed my evening here. The service was superb - so fast and thoughtful. The waiter saw me struggling to get service on my phone and immediately connected me to the Wifi!
Very rare indeed.
The band were highly skilled.
I’ve been watching live Jazz bands around the World and I knew immediately they were top notch. I just wish that other guests were more respectful to the musicians and staff.
We encountered some very rude people who kept talking so loudly over the musicians and seemed interested in only recording videos for their social media (??) I thought they were also very rude to the kind waiter when they asked loudly “MENUUUUU. You know MENU?”. The waiter was most professional in dealing with them.
The food and wine was fantastic. My friend had the chicken fingers - so crispy and juicy. I had the charcuterie and the cheese was so yummy.
A most comfortable place. Clean and with AC. Highly recommend this lovely spot.
My friend and I really enjoyed ending our night out here.
We felt safe and welcomed - most important for female travellers. I hope to come here again soon.

The coffee was good and we had good time there. The barista was friendly and kind. But the best part for us was that we forgot and left our expensive camera there for about 45 minutes and went back and it was still there! :)

We had a really fun experience here. We came for the dinner and live music and weren't sure what we were getting into. The live music was not what I expected. I thought we might catch like a French jazz group, but it turns out it wasn't that kind of place. They had a 2-person French pop rock cover band performing mostly American rock songs. Unexpected, but really fun. The food and drinks were okay and a little pricey. I came to Paris to eat French food so I was a little disappointed to find mostly burgers and pulled pork bbq, but that's also on me for not looking up a menu. We had good service though!

It was a delight to find an all vegetarian restaurant right outside the Notre Dame. It’s a cute place but hidden in one of the smaller streets of Paris.
The food was fresh and flavorful. Well presented. The portions were just adequate. I was only upset that I could not try more dishes.
I strongly recommend the team to develop more recipes. This is a wonderful concept.
The staff were kind and helpful and bore with my broken French.

The burger felt homely, simple and filling, the service was great. 😊 Falafel was average :( , We made a mistake with our selection, it wasn’t particularly impressive and ended up being quite expensive. After comparing with local prices of same bottle, we realised the restaurant’s markup on that bottle was quite high. Not the restaurant’s fault, but sharing this for awareness.

Apparently, this is the oldest vegetarian restaurant in France, in activity since 1978! It's in an incredibly (and unexpectedly) quiet street literally 100 meters from Notre Dame, and it's a very nice restaurant. I had lunch with my family there and we had the basmati rice with veggies, the baked potatoes and sweet potatoes + veggies + tofu with sauce (spicy!), and the two vegan desserts (I would certainly recommend the brownie with ice cream - you can choose the flavour). I appreciate the possibility to get traditional/naturally vegan dishes here, rather than fake meat or other vegan dishes that you can find in several vegan restaurants nowadays. We also ordered some baked potatoes for my kid and they were reeeeeeeally good!
Simone S - 5 months ago
Small vegetarian/vegan Restaurant close to the Seine and just one street crossing from Notre Dame. The menu has a very clear annotation which foods are vegetarian/vegan/gluten free. The perfect stop for lunch on a tour along the Seine. We had 2 of their burgers and they were just delicious. The Tarte Tartin and Chocolate cake for dessert as well.

This is my favorite place in Paris!!! The potato gratin was the best thing I ate and I’ve been craving it! It was perfect! I was worried about the vegan cheese but it was delectable and smooth. I have eaten a lot of potatoes in my life but this was by far the BEST!
The wait staff was so sweet! One of the waiters even took our picture. We were thrilled.
This place is a very short walk from Notre-Dame. It’s an idyllic cafe!

Beautiful interior. You can tell locals like it here. Excellent tea. I had apple crumble which was very delicious. Very comforting. Perfect dinner with this perfect restaurant in Paris. Outside the restaurant looks ordinary, does not look grandeur but don't judge the book by its cover as they say,you have to try and dine. Staff are friendly, professionals and most of all the foods are sumptuous down to desserts too! Definitely recommended if you are going to be in central Paris. I had a fantastic and unforgettable dinner with family (7 of us with a child) and they love the food. My nephew,Carl search this place and It was worthwhile trip to the restaurant. Tip: in the picture was the wine they offered and it tasted so good we had 2 bottles! and the price was affordable. It tastes slightly sweet white wine so if you are not into sweet, dry white wine then it's not for you. I had steak and it went well, too. Thank you,we will definitely go back whenever we are in Paris! 🤗💕Merci!
