Beautiful building inside, and definitely one of the better (free) views across the Notre Dame, best towards sunset, maybe pair with the restaurant. Temporary exhibitions sometimes fascinating, can be hit and miss depending on your interests.
Definitely worth a peek, particularly if you are wandering the Left Bank.
1000Steps Photography - 4 months ago
I recently visited the Arab World Institute with great interest in its cultural and historical offerings. While the exhibitions were insightful, I found that the Maghreb’s heritage was less visible compared to other regions. If dedicated sections exist, they were not clearly highlighted, which risks leaving visitors with an incomplete view of the Arab world.
Despite renovations, parts of the building still feel worn, and recent leadership challenges may also explain why certain areas seem underdeveloped. Overall, the institute has much to offer, but giving greater prominence to North African contributions would provide a richer and more balanced visitor experience.

We went to the Gaza exhibition on a whim. The first room has interesting archeological finds from Egyptian, Greek, Roman, Christian and Muslim culture. The second room has pictures of various churches and museums before and now, blown to bits by the idf.

I absolutely loved the temporary exposition they are doing for the treasures saved from gaza. You can see really the impact of destruction and the things as humanity we have lost just because of greed and evil. I recommend this place for everyone.

Great to see an exhibition on the treasures and history of archeology and architecture if Gaza, now destroyed so this exhibition is some of what has survived- do see if in Paris!

As an expat in Paris, sometimes you just need a place where no one raises an eyebrow when you drown your potatoes and omelette in ketchup — or, heaven forbid, butter your bread! I bravely asked for ketchup, and instead of the usual Parisian side-eye, I was warmly presented with an entire bottle of Heinz! 😍 The cappuccino was excellent, and my cheddar cheese omelette with home fries was pretty tasty. Honestly, I just needed a little comfort food, and Breakfast in America definitely hit the spot!

Arrived first thing in the morning, no other clients around, and got served burnt black French toast like it was normal, with no apology from the kitchen staff…I was flabbergasted by their choice to send it out. They never should have thought this was acceptable. Too bad because the overall vibe is nice, the music is great, and the server was friendly.

The food looked tasty but was not amazing 😕 I was disappointed I ordered a lumberjack breakfast with a hot chocolate. The sunny side up eggs were bland and the toast i got to go with it was too. The bacon was good and the potatoes too but the French toast was disappointing. I guess they have an issue with the bread here. The hot chocolate was the best thing I ordered here. As a north American I feel misrepresented. Although the atmosphere was very American and the staff was fantastic.

the food was ok, simple, and the egg and sausage was good but small portion, pancake was fulfilling, American coffee was nice to try. service was good, and vibe is very American!

Dinner, Conversation and Cognac
Walking near the Sorbonne in the 5th District we came upon Le Buisson Ardent and saw a wonderful lamb entree on the menu. We settled in for 2+ delicious hours of cafe dining, including that lamb, dessert and cognac. All accompanied by the charm and conversation of the owner and young patrons surrounding us. Highly recommend!

Nice place to have French food. Staff is very friendly. We ordered a starter with beef which was a bit too salty. However, it came with very flavorful olive oil dressing. It would be good if there was some more salad. The shrimp salad is very good. I also ordered a mojito. It did not have enough lime😌.

Dining here feels like finding a hidden gem in the heart of Paris. This is a place where the effortless charm of a relaxed vibe and welcoming atmosphere meets the finesse of beautifully crafted cuisine.
Whether you're looking for an intimate dinner or a leisurely lunch, the people at Le Buisson Ardent effortlessly deliver both culinary excellence and a sense of ease that lingers long after the meal is over.
This is one of those very rare places you immediately want to return to. A true Parisian treasure!

Big compliment to the staff for their kindness. I came with an upset stomach and got just what I needed to finally eat again. Their soup of the day, carrott puree and mousse au chocolat were delicious and made me feel like a human again. Thank you

Loved this cosy very Parisian wine place.
It offers superb hospitality, especially if you start off speaking in limited French, only to find that the hosts can actually speak English just fine 🤣 (Oh it's so many moons ago when I visited France and they only would converse in French!).
The place embodies the essence of a wine (bar?) with loads of bottles lining the walls and the lovely knowledgeable host asking for your preference to provide you with your perfect choice of wine.
They also serve delicious little food dishes that will ensure you don't get completely inebriated and unruly with your intake of many bottle of delicious wine.
The place also offers a limited selection of food and I had a lovely dish of fish gratin. It was yummy - I highly recommend giving it a visit ❤️

Excellent wine bar with a local feel. It was busy and bustling when I went. I was taken by a local resident who loves this wine bar, and now i know why. Service is fantastic, just tell the owner what kind of wine you feel like and she will bring you something interesting to try.
Highly recommended.

Such a great experience! The hostess provided several samples of French wine based on our preferences and provided great descriptions of origin, grape variety, etc. you walk in sit down and she just starts pouring to see what you like. When you find your winner, she pours a glass. Simple. Fun.

I came for the wine and left with a great conversation with the staff. This little gem I thought would be crowded in lunch time but was lovely and quiet for my lunchtime visit. The owners know wine and are very open to discussing at length for your deeper knowledge. It’s a superb place to dine alone or with a group. Highly recommend! Magnifique !

Really nice caffe, prices are good since it's in the center of Paris. The waiter was really nice and charming. You get a lot of food so if you (like me) can't eat much😅 then split it with your travel buddy. I ordered the cheesburger and my mom ordered fried chicken. Overall 10/10, would visit again. This is the only place in Paris where I was served drinks immediately and didnt have to wait for food in order to get my drinks. Would reccommend but sometimes it gets busy because it's a local parisians place.

Best place to eat or just chill in Paris! Very affordable prices (coming from a person who thinks 15e for a meal is A LOT). Good atmosphere, not many people surprisingly. Food is tasty, portions are big. The cocktails have a generous amount of alcohol in them and only go for 6-7e, which is insanely cheap for what i've seen in Paris. And best of all, the service is immaculate. The server is very kind and helpful, speaks english, told me about the things in the menu since its all in french. He gave us free water and extra fries for our takeaway box. The only thing we're upset about is that we did not have any change to leave a tip.

Atmosphere was lively and fun! Place was filled with young people. I wish I'd ordered the cheese board, but we chose the French Burger. It v was all right. Birthing great. Service was s...l ...o...wwww. I had to get up to get the table napkins, and again to get us ketchup. I also had to get up because my drink never showed up. Server was sweet as anything, but i felt like we were forgotten... maybe they were busier than usual on a rainy night.

We went at around 21h it was still open and the guy receiving people was super nice and happy to serve us.
The food was really good, the guacamole was amazing and the empanada too.
We ordered Ají de Gallina and was really good, they serve a lot of food, so that is highly appreciate.
The ambiance is really nice, they put some latino music but not as loud so you can talk peacefully.
Would definitely recommend!

I've always wanted to try this place, got the chance to go there for lunch with a few colleagues. We had a few appetizers to share, I liked the guac and the octopus the rest was good as well. Then I ordered the trilogy of ceviches as I couldn't decide which one to have. Food was fresh and delicious, the waitress was super nice. I would definitely go again.

While on our Honeymoon we decided to stay at Hotel La Jardin by Locke. After a long day of train travel we decided to just stay near the hotel grounds and look for food nearby.
Oddly enough we found out El Picaflor was right next door to us. My wife is Peruvian and it sparked our interest as we thought, well how good can the Peruvian food be in Paris? Man. It was possibly the best meal we ate in our entire stay. Try the 3 appetizer platters and 3 ceviche platters. Get the Pisco Sour, get the Marakuya Pisco Sour. Try out some of the Chef Specialty dishes. You will not regret this as it is way too good. We went right as it opened and stayed way into the night to continue to try dishes. Each were delicious, great portions, and more importantly had tons of flavor. Please visit this place when you can it definitely deserves all the great reviews it gets.
The hosts were extremely friendly. They spoke French, English, and Spanish.
They were very attentive to everything we asked for, even when the house started getting packed.

Thanks to a gift, smartbox we ended up at this INCREDIBLE restaurant.
The food is stunning, and the mixtures of spices is out of this world. Really. So exotic and so good.
The tuna ceviche with mango sauce was especially memorable.
The waitress was delightful too. So friendly.

Best ceviche I've ever had.
We came here 12 years ago and we were stunned by the ceviche. We were back today and it's always outstanding. The best I've ever had. Consistently.
The other dishes we tried varied from good to very good.
The place is pretty small. It has a good atmosphere. There is a single waiter, who is efficient and pleasant. The whole staff speaks Spanish.

Of the best food I ate during my trip to Paris! We arrived a few minutes before they opened and they still served us. The food was AMAZING, plus they don't spare anything with the portions! We ordered couscous and tagine with figs and nuts and it was delicious!! My family has been going to that restaurant for decades and I will keep the tradition whenever I have the opportunity to return to Paris!

My wife and I came here on the last night of our 2 week honeymoon in France and this was my favorite restaurant from the whole trip. The food was incredibly flavorful, from the little dishes brought out before ordering down to the dessert at the end. The service was also impeccable and the decor is so pretty too. I can't praise L'Atlas enough for this fantastic meal and overall experience!!!

I always struggle to find a reason to come to pasta restaurants. I always end up thinking "I could have just made this at home for significantly cheaper", and that's exactly how I felt here.
There are some interesting pasta types here, including chestnut, but as all but one of the dishes are non-vegetarian I couldn't have them.
The dish I had was fine but a bit bland. I was curious if this was because it was the vegetarian option, but then the salmon pasta the person I was eating with was similarly bland, and the sauce more watery than we would expect.
It's strange because this restaurant hasn't changed their menu much in the last 40 years, as my parents used to come here as students, and they quite liked it back then.
The deserts were fairly good. We had a pear clafouti and some fromage blanc with maple syrup. Both were good.
The deco is nice enough. Pleasant.
The restaurant had a wheelchair accessible entrance and seating. We didn't end up checking the toilet.
In terms of improvements, I guess I'd like to see more vegetarian options and sauces with more flavour, especially for the high price paid.
