The atmosphere is vibrant, the food is great
and the overall ambiance is exactly what you hope for when visiting Montparnasse.
What truly made our evening special, however, was the service. A huge thank you to the young lady who took care of our table; she was exceptionally friendly and maintained a high level of professionalism throughout the entire meal. In a busy, high-energy brasserie like this, her attentive and warm demeanor really stood out and made us feel welcome.

We stopped for dinner mid-week late January. The restaurant was full. When we arrived the lady at front of house gave us a ticket to wait for a table and said we were “Earnest Hemingway” for the evening. We sat at the bar with a drink waiting to be called for an available table. After 30+mins, we realised other guests, who arrived later than us, had been seated. I went to speak to front of house, who looked at her list and realised we’d been forgotten.
We were shown to a table in this very large open restaurant. Art deco decor and friezes on the walls. We enjoyed the Moules and frittes, which was plentiful. We chose a muscadet wine to accompany the dish. We chose the Mont Blanc desert with crème marron. When the bill arrived two drinks had been deducted as way of apology for the oversight of allocating us a table.

Going to La Coupole was something I was looking forward to. Had a reservation. Sat at our table a good 15 minutes before waiter came over. No chance to get an aperitif while reading the menu.
The waiter messed up the wine and water order.
Had steak frites. The bearnaise was great, the steak was just ok, and the frites had been sitting, so they were soggy.
When it was time to settle the bill, the waiter asked for a tip. Not normal for Paris. I said I will give cash, but he misheard and added a €10 tip to the bill and charged my credit card. Did not even ask how much I was going to give.
I was not happy, and they gave me cash in hand. The tip became €0.

Finally got a chance to a famous brasserie in Paris. But unfortunately I was disappointed. Way too overpriced.
Unless you enjoy the scenery.
Let’s separate the different parts: staff was super friendly. Did have to wait for our water. Wasn’t refilled much I guess because it was tab water. But otherwise friendly, smiling service which is always nice. So loving it.
But the dishes… unfortunately…
We shared escargots which is one of my favorite dishes: but no. Here the size are not small but not big. The sauce was a bit blend lacking a bit of garlic we thought.
The bread served with salted butter was okay because we were hungry but not great.
The sea bass I had was good. But not the saucy risotto thingy with it. The sauce despite its color was bland. For the price, I think it was small and not tasty.
My friend got the choucroute of the coupole with different kind of sausages and pork served with mustard. The cabbage was bland and luckily mustard was here to kick it. But the pork seemed to me too rare, too red on the inside. Which kinda made me feel suspicious. Too bad.
The high ceiling is super beautiful. But the center piece in the middle I thought was ruining the mood… everybody have different taste thats for sure.
I wouldn’t recommend this one but for a coffee or a dessert which look good on paper. But we didn’t dare to add more to this time experience.

We had a fabulous time! I hadn't been to Paris in years and wanted to re-visit La Coupole. Such a delight to find everything at least as good as it was before.
Fantastic food, especially the seafood. Elegant and professional service.
And the decor... well, it is La Coupole.
Next time I'm in Paris, I'll be back.

A fantastic venue for the performing arts. Enjoy the neighborhood atmosphere of a local movie theater while assisting to national level performances. Fantastic show yesterday with Les Secrets de la Méduse. The real story behind a famous painting by Géricault. Also enjoyed the restaurant.

Affordable bar & eatery to hang out either before or after a film or theatre. Cool area too. Cinema screens aren’t particularly large however good enough for films that are no longer in the larger cinemas. They could have installed better seats…

This theatre is one of my favourite in Paris. With his cinema, his restaurant, his bar, his bookshop and of cours his shows, this cultural place is full of life and a warm atmosphere. And you can have very advantagous prices thanks to their different tariff (senior, -26y...).
I leave here a note for Les Joues Rouge, a brilliant theatre company, which had astonished me with it rendition of L'Écume des Jours, and which enthousiasted me once again tonight with it adaptation of Bel-Ami.

Enjoyed the bar very much. The service was ok, didn’t quite like the hygiene from the girl behind the bar tho - while watching how my cocktails are made, buuuut the rest was top.
I loved the smoke place, I’m just into cigars and I really enjoyed everything there. Will visit again when I’m in Paris, and I recommend the place for sure :)

It is an average place in my opinion. Not a very large selection of soft drinks and snacks. People are nice though and very kind. Wanted to
Spend an evening dancing salsa but only 4 people danced in total. Music doesn’t vary much but after all I would say it’s an ok place

A slice of Cuba in the heart of Paris!
Cubans Café was a total vibe—stepping inside felt like teleporting to Havana. The atmosphere was warm, vibrant, and full of life. Authentic Cuban music played softly in the background, setting the mood perfectly. The food? Absolutely delicious. Every bite was rich, flavorful, and true to Cuban roots. From the ropa vieja to the perfectly cooked plantains, it was a culinary trip to the Caribbean. A hidden gem that brings Cuban soul to Paris—can’t wait to return!

The food was great! Both in terms of quantity and quality. We absolutely loved "Pollo Asado a la Cubana con arroz congrí". The food was very filling and a great deal with most dishes being between 15-17 euros. The cuban sangria was great as well! The people were very welcoming.
Manasi Chhabra - a year ago
The place was good and the vibe too, we asked the owner if we could smoke (vape) inside and he authorized.
The "security" came and randomly told was that smoke inside was not authorized, what made was uncomfortable and "killed" our vibe.
I do recommend but not for vape smokers.
It is a good place, kind good vibe but not good employers as "security".

The food was genuinely delicious, and the steak quality lived up to the restaurant’s reputation.
However, the service was disappointing. Just moments after the waitress left the table, I informed her that I wanted to change my steak from well-done to medium, but I was abruptly told that the order was already done, without any attempt to help or explain politely.
When the food arrived, I was also told to “sit properly,” which felt unnecessary and inappropriate — how a guest sits is not a staff member’s concern as long as it’s respectful.
Great food, but the attitude and communication from the service staff seriously affected the overall experience. I hope management addresses this, as better service would match the quality of the food.

W O W!!! Arrived before 12 and seated immediately. Salad. And seasoned very well, not dripping yet super tasty, maybe the mustard flavor. But top! And the meat is fantastic. The first round I ordered half-cooked, to avoid blood and sauce. But instead rare is the best (the second round I ordered rare). The fries are fried perfectly, I only added some salt, but even then in the sauce they didn't become soggy. I'm super satisfied with this lunch.
and the environment is beautiful and the staff is kind. You can't reserve, so choose times close to opening or at least after the first round.

We had to experience the famous L’entrecote and we were staying only 10 minutes away from this branch. We got here around 15 minutes before opening and there was only a small queue in front of us which built up fairly quickly behind us. However, the restaurant was huge and I think it accommodated everyone in the queue when it opened at 6pm.
The highlight was definitely the service. Our server was absolutely delightful, as were all the other ones we saw working there.
The steak frite itself was fine, not an amazing steak but one that was cooked well. The fries were again good but nothing special. The portion was ok, not “huge” for the price. The sauce was what we came to try, it hard to describe what it tasted like. It wasn’t amazing but wasn’t terrible either, just different.
We enjoyed our time and the dinner here. However, for us i would say it’s not worth queueing up for a long time for it though, as I think for the price and the time you can probably get better meals. However, I couldn’t fault the service.

28.12.2025, 12.05pm: No queue as everyone had just been seated. We got our table immediately too and there were tables still available but quickly filled up.
Overhyped. Only 1 dish restaurant ie steak, just choose the doneness and can't change after the 1st serving. Medium here was almost cooked (not good at all), go for medium rare. Steak was just ordinary. Although steak was meant to be refilled, felt like it was actually 1 whole piece of steak but served twice as the portion was pretty little on the 1st and 2nd servings. However, you'll be full as fries were overwhelmed and again, ordinary. Chateau Franc Baudron (red wine) wasn't good at all too. Coca-Cola was even better!
There was a long queue when we left at 1.30pm.

Iconic steak frites experience — simple but well-executed
Found Le Relais de l’Entrecôte online and decided to try it. We arrived around 11:30 AM, and there was already a queue, which shows just how popular this place is. It’s clearly very famous.
They keep things extremely simple — there is only one meal on the menu: steak frites. When you sit down, the only question you’re asked is how you want your steak cooked. That’s it. The meal comes with a green salad and bread, followed by the steak and fries.
What really makes this place stand out is their signature sauce, which is rich, flavorful, and unique. It’s the main reason people keep coming back. Overall, it’s a straightforward concept done very well and worth experiencing at least once.

I don’t know if there are actually words that can properly describe the incredible experience I had at this restaurant today. It came highly recommended from a friend who lives in France. It hit every mark I have told about 100 people about this restaurant today and shared these pictures. Enzo was an incredible server who I would highly recommend to anyone. I’d probably hire him for my company. I can’t wait to go back here. Everything was as good as it could possibly be in every aspect. I went specifically for an onion soup and ended up getting the best oysters I’ve ever had an incredible leg of lamb and the onion soup was absolutely phenomenal. 10 stars.

Beautiful restaurant. Food was mixed - beef wasn't that great but the mille-feuille was sensational...made to order so super fresh. Best I've ever had! Great service too. Worth going for the ambiance.

Initially picked this place as it was a Lost Generation haunt, a must see for fans of Hemingway, Stein, etc. Went on Sunday evening and easily secured a table. The décor was transformative to another time, preserving its warmth, charm and elegance. The food was delicious. Very reasonably priced (especially when compared to his other haunts, the Ritz :)) My one and only complaint was a couple with a small dog brought it into the restaurant where it sat in a char and then walked on the table. It’s unhygienic practice and something that makes me shudder in any setting where I am eating. Would still 10/10 recommend however.

An exceptional classic French dining experience at La Rotonde.
From start to finish, everything was done right. The steak tartare was excellent — freshly prepared, well-seasoned, and perfectly balanced, showcasing the quality of the beef. The main courses were equally impressive, especially the steak, cooked beautifully and served with rich, flavourful sauce and classic French sides.
The pommes were crisp and golden, exactly how traditional French potatoes should be, and the overall presentation stayed true to timeless Parisian brasserie style. Portions were generous without being excessive.
Service was professional, attentive, and smooth without feeling rushed, even during busy hours. The atmosphere carries real Paris history — elegant, lively, and full of character.
A must-visit if you appreciate authentic French cuisine, classic techniques, and old-school Paris charm. Would gladly return. Highly recommended.

Our second trip. Love the lunch options, they are yummy and made in-house by people who obvi care about food! Each portion is about 7in in diameter, individually portioned, not cut from a larger quiche or something. We had the beef lasagne, a quiche, and something described as "french beef" in the English menu, but turned out to be sth like a shephard's pie -- tender beef under a layer of mashed potatoes. The only thing I would skip is the "chocolate cake" on the English menu -- it was a slice from a chocolate loaf cake, so not what I expected (also a bit dry). If they have the apricot tart however, you should 1000% get that. It's in a individual tart with only a little bit of almond paste and a lot of super fresh apricots and a touch of fresh rosemary. The best dessert we had on this trip!

Stopped off here for a quick take away and was super impressed. The food is of such quality and it might be paying a tiny bit more than you would in a basic patisserie but for the quality of the produce it is absolutely worth every cent.
The cinnamon bun was incredibly tasty and super soft and my son loved the really chunky chocolate cookie which was so filling. They also have a beautiful tea room and outdoor seating.

Enjoyable patisserie adjacent to Jardin du Luxembourg. Extensive menu. I need to come back to try the Vanilla Flan.

Enjoyed refreshing freshly squeezed juices in their outdoors seating on our first visit , we came back the following day for breakfast , the “ brunch “
( €17) is literally only a plate of fried eggs w greens garnish & a skinny slice of cheddar , no coffee nor juice not even jam included not even water . We ordered separately croissants which were cold & smelled of eggs wash , we didn’t eat them just the first two bites , they were more on stale side . Their coffee is commercial coffee illy , not speciality , but their barista prepared our cappuccino w no knowledge of proportions, a mountain of bubble filled froth , a disappointment for all coffee connoisseurs . All customers were tourists ( British, Americans ) which explains a lot . Will not return . Not recommended .

The service was Excellent and the food and drinks were Amazing. My Wife and I were visiting Paris for the first time, and I wanted to go to a place where the American Authors frequented. When I asked the Maitre D where F. Scott Fitzgerald would sit, he sat us in a nice booth next to the bar- he know exactly what I wanted. I ate snails for the first time so I would highly suggest those. The customers were also sophisticated and nicely dressed, relaxed, and all seemed to be in deep conversation- either about politics or literature or something academic. Honestly, I don't speak French but it still seemed like it could've been either of the aforementioned. No one talks loud, but just the right tone. And we all (the entire restaurant) enjoyed ourselves on that Saturday night, as if we were all on the same page. Our service was Excellent, and I'll definitely come back again. I miss and love Paris

However, I found tall the plates somewhat boring. Nothing interesting for the price tag I eould have expected something more special in taste and presentation. 58eur menu and some choices are even extra on top and drinks plus.. could be a solid 4star for half the price

Friendly and attentive staff, good location in Montparnasse closeby the Vavin metro station. My usual first stop for a night of barhopping after a couple of hotel room pre-game beers during my recent stay in Paris. Did not try their food. Fantastic place with great selection of beers. Came back every day while staying in Paris. The food was also superb - pasta and burgers were great. The staff is very welcoming and kind, special thanks to Ryan who was super nice - we asked him if we could buy 2 glasses of a Parisian beer we really enjoyed and after checking with his boss they gave them to us for free. The cherry on top was the awesome metal music they were playing(I came to Paris to see Gojira) which was the right volume for easily having a conversation.

Wow. I did like the place at first BUT. Ordered a few drinks alone then went for a walk. On my way back to hotel I stop to sit down because it was raining. Needed to check My text and email. They told me to order something or i had to leave. Wow. Because im Texan maybe? They knew who I was. I even tipped them which I hear you dont have to do in Europe. It was an available option when I paid so I dont think that was rude that I tipped.
Maybe they dont like Americans?
