From the moment we arrived at the Grand Hôtel du Palais, after a long day of travel, we were warmly welcomed by the front desk team and Chef Concierge, Christopher. Having corresponded with him for several weeks prior to our visit, it was a pleasure to finally meet him in person. The team went out of their way to make our arrival special, graciously acknowledging our anniversary—a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the rest of our stay.
We were thrilled with our room, which was not only beautifully appointed but also remarkably quiet, a true oasis in the heart of the city. Despite the hotel’s central location—just a block from the Louvre and within easy walking distance of major attractions—it is tucked away on a quiet street, allowing for a peaceful and restful stay.
Our stay included breakfast, which was consistently outstanding. Karin and Julie, who looked after us each morning, were genuinely kind and attentive. We also enjoyed two wonderful lunches on the hotel’s charming patio, which offered a perfect setting for a relaxed meal.
Initially, I was surprised to see the concierge desk centrally located in the lobby, rather than off to the side as is more common. However, it quickly became clear that this placement was quite intentional and effective. Christopher and his exceptional team—Francine and two other colleagues—acted as true ambassadors of the hotel. They greeted us each morning and welcomed us back each afternoon with warmth and sincerity. This level of personal engagement is one of the reasons we so appreciate staying in smaller, boutique properties—you truly get to know the team, and in this case, their genuine commitment to guest experience was evident in every interaction.
I am sincerely grateful for the warmth, professionalism, and attention to detail demonstrated by the entire staff throughout our stay. The Grand Hôtel du Palais is a charming gem in the heart of Paris, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking a refined and memorable experience.

We really enjoyed our time here at this hotel. What wonderful staff and rooms. I felt like I was VIP the whole stay. We did have a accident with laundry and the hotel did the right thing and replaced a very nice shirt. I will definitely stay here again. Thanks for a awesome experience!

What an amazing boutique Hotel and in a wonderful part of Paris . It is located roughly 1 minute from the Louvre and several wonderful spots including some delightful restaurants…The rooms are very nice and fairly typical of five star luxury hotels in Europe, but the absolute success of this hotel is the people and their service attitude. They cannot do enough to help and support you and Germain and the Concierge team were absolutely outstanding. The young lady at the front desk was amazing and very welcoming… Go quickly and stay there and you will be glad you did, it is wonderful…

The attention to guests by staff is top notch. Chloe at the front desk was very helpful with check in and local services. The bell staff was equally helpful. The location is close to some of the main points of interest that can be walked to. My room was good size and appointed well. The price is justified by the quality of the staff and property.

Amazing gem of a hotel - rooms were spotless and modern with super comfy beds. Staff was just the right amount of attentive and available . Breakfast buffet was great. Location perfect down a little side street but still right around corner from Louvre and Champs de Elysee for a stroll up to the Arc de Triomphe

I stopped here randomly on my last night in Paris. I had a nice solo seat in the corner and was able to enjoy my meal and people watch. I ordered the French onion soup as well as the baked chicken and a small carafe of wine (we definitely need this option in the US) The soup was exactly what I wanted very flavorful, nice and hot. Definitely recommend. The baked chicken I was worried would not be that tasty as I hadn't been impressed with my other options in Paris during my trip, but this did not disappoint. Very flavorful and delicious. I ended the evening with a crème brûlée, which was so good I had to stop my myself from finishing it all. if you are in the area, definitely give this place a try.

Dinner was excellent! Was seated immediately at 8:30PM on a Saturday. The service was fantastic and the dishes were even better. Special mention to: onion soup, escargot, and creme brulee. The chicken was juicy, the beef tartare was plentiful, and the steak was cooked nicely medium rare (albeit a bit chewy). Fries were great!

Had a lunch here whilst on a walking tour, and it really made a lovely diversion from the hustle outside.
Servers were very efficient, note lunch is strictly served from midday.
Food was amazing, beautifully presented and faster than we expected.
The atmosphere is a mixture between Library/Museum and funky hipster bar, with quirky displays of Lego model, portraits of the Masters on the walls, and mixed level seating.

Incredible food and service, amazing reasonable prices for Paris, and great portions. Ate here twice during our trip because it was so good! Would recommend 100% to anyone. Tourist-friendly, very welcoming, food was probably some of the most delicious we had in Paris while visiting. Our server was a blonde young lady (did not get her name unfortunately), and she was fantastic!!

Café de la Régence offers a wonderful experience with a great location and traditionally prepared French cuisine. It's a fantastic spot for people-watching and enjoying classic dishes.
I highly recommend starting with the Charcuterie Board. It was generous, featuring a great selection of high-quality cured meats and patés, perfectly complemented by cornichons and excellent crusty bread. It’s ideal for sharing and soaking in the bistro ambiance.
The Onion Soup here is a must-try. It was served piping hot, boasting a deep, rich, and slightly sweet broth, loaded with tender caramelized onions and crowned with a thick layer of gratinéed cheese. It provided the ultimate French comfort.
To finish, the Crème Brûlée was spot on. The custard was smooth, creamy, and infused with vanilla, topped with a brittle, perfectly torched sugar crust. It was the flawless, satisfying conclusion to a wonderful Parisian meal.
Café de la Régence is a charming spot that executes these French staples with skill and quality.

We visited what is reportedly the oldest Shabu-Shabu restaurant in Paris, and the experience was truly memorable. The decoration is exquisite and incredibly authentic, making you feel as though you've stepped directly into Japan, the ambiance alone is worth the trip.
The service is exceptionally thoughtful and attentive. Our server was meticulous, helping us place the fresh ingredients into the pot and patiently explaining the cooking process and origin of the various cuts. This level of care truly elevates the dining experience.
The ingredients are undeniably fresh, and the flavor of the Shabu-Shabu is impeccable. The quality is certainly there, and the taste is fantastic.
The only drawback, and the reason for caution, is the portion size for the price. We spent €120 for two people and, unfortunately, did not feel completely full afterward.
Verdict: If you have a generous budget, this restaurant is absolutely worth a visit for its stunning decor, fantastic service, and fresh, high-quality food. It's a culinary experience rather than a large meal.

The food was amazing, sashimi was so tasty, no bad smell. The small sukiyaki was very good as well. The soup was not too salty that I could sip from time to time and the server did a small demonstration of cooking it. The service and atmosphere were great also, very calm, nicely decorated and I could smell wood from the furniture. Really authentic. However the price is very high, might be good to go for a special occasion.

Takara (often called Paris’s oldest Japanese restaurant) feels just like a hidden retreat straight from a Tokyo alley. It offers the perfect balance of tradition and excellence. The setting- with soft lighting, dark wood, ukiyo-e prints, and staff in traditional attire- instantly transports you to Japan.
We had lunch here and it was incredible. The fish was rich and extremely fresh, the waiters were attentive, and the atmosphere was just so cozy. Yes, it’s a bit on the pricier side, but the quality justifies it, classic dishes done right.
These being said, this place is a must-visit for authentic Japanese cuisine in Paris. Exceptional sushi, sukiyaki, tempura, and ambiance, all in one serene, timeless spot.
Mara - 5 months ago
One of the best Japanese restaurants in town. Their sushi and sukiyaki are amazing (even with the normal beef instead of Wagyu). The appetiser is surprisingly delicious. Better book in advance than walk-in as the place is quite popular even for lunch time. Highly recommend.

I was shocked when I read Takara is the oldest Japanese restaurant in Europe. I thought they were cappin, but my rigorous 5 minute google research says this is true. It only opened in 1958, which sent me into an existential spiral.
A city that is such a cultural melting pot like Paris, and Europe as a whole, got their first Japanese restaurant in 1958? The world has not been connected for very long. I don't know why, but this really put time into perspective for me.
When we stepped off the Parisian streets and into Takara, it literally felt like we just entered a worm hole to Tokyo. They somehow bottled the energy in Japan and brought it to Paris. You could take a breath in here. There was just such a calming, respectful energy in here that I have only felt in Japan.
When making a reservation, you are required to order either Shabu Shabu or Sukiyaki which honestly was kind of annoying. We just wanted to rip a bunch of sushi. 52 euro a head was the cheapest option, and we went with that because I'm a brokie.
We sat down in the most authentic Japanese ambiance that I have ever set foot in outside of Japan. I was so damn inspired. One of the walls was lined with 70+ different types of beautifully crafted Japanese wallpaper, and I wanted to steal it and bring it back home to line the walls of my tiny NYC apartment.
Along with our forced shabu shabu, we went with a mixed nigiri platter, 3 different cut rolls, and some fried chicken. My Chase Sapphire Preferred card was in hell.
The nigiri and cut rolls went absolutely insane. The thing about writing food reviews is there are only so many positive adjectives in my repertoire. It was better than any nigiri I've had outside of Japan. Maybe the quality of fish has been the same in LA or NYC, but the vibe in here just took it up a notch... See, my words are futile to describe the feeling this fish gave me.
I would honestly love to hate on the shabu shabu that we were held at gunpoint to try, but it was also PHENOMENAL. Maybe it's just a case of Stockholm syndrome, but it was magical.
Thin cuts of beef with the most perfect marbling, paired with fresh vegetables to cook in a hot pot right in front of you? How could you not love it? The waitress came over and got us started, showing us how to operate the shabu shabu machine.
All in all, this was my 2nd favorite meal we had in Paris only behind the Senegalese restaurant Waly Fay. However, Takara did HURT the pockets. I don't even know how much it ran, I just winced as I tapped my Chase card. I'm refusing to look at the statement as it's all just monopoly money on vacation, right?

Such a cool spot for a quick, affordable, and delicious lunch. The curry katsu was great - comforting and fulfilling, big portion. The salmon sashimi with rice was exactly as it should be: fresh salmon with fluffy rice. Service was fast and efficient.

Authentic Japanese cuisine!!! I’ve been to This restaurant several times and have tried chirashi, sashimi (super fresh and various types of fish), grilled saumon with miso (must try!!!! My favorite!!!! And the meshed potato inside of dish is amazing too), beef tartare, so far every time it’s amazing and delicious!!!!

This restaurant is very popular especially on weekend with long waiting line at lunch time (no reservations at lunch).
The food is authentic to the point that the quantity may be enough for a petite Japanese girl in Tokyo but seems a bit lacking for the average person in Paris 🤤
For the price per dish, a better surrounding is expected as well.

We got spicy fried chicken and japanese katsu rice. Both were so goodd. The portion and the taste is fire + it’s good for 14 euros in Paris prices. Location is very near Louvre and Tuileries. Service is good, thanks for the matcha :) def will come back.

We really enjoyed eating at Sapporo Restaurant on Rue Saint-Honore. The restaurant is much bigger than it appears, with two floors, bar seating and outdoor seating. The food was very good, fresh and hot. The service was also very good, friendly and prompt.

It's been at least 8 years since my last visit, and I was so pleased to find the same flavors and service that made me love this place.
This cozy Japanese restaurant is ideally located just a short walk from the Louvre and the Tuileries Garden, making it a convenient and rewarding stop if you're exploring the area.
I had the ramen with grilled pork and vegetables, along with a half curry rice — both were delicious.
Given the quality of the food and the prime location, the prices are truly remarkable. It's rare to find such authenticity and value in the heart of Paris.
I’m so happy to see that after all these years, this little gem continues to deliver such a satisfying experience. I'll definitely be back whenever I'm in Paris again.

We stopped at Le Nemours for some afternoon drinks after a long day of sightseeing, and it honestly became one of the most memorable moments of our trip. We were a group of seven girls, ready to unwind, and the atmosphere was perfect — people were dancing outside, the drinks were amazing, and the whole place just buzzed with that Paris magic.
The drinks were wonderful, but it was the service that truly stood out. A huge thank you to Anatole, who looked after us so kindly and made us feel instantly welcome. He made a massive effort with us and even remembered some of our groups’ names to ensure that personalised touch. And the biggest thank you to the bar manager. A situation happened while we were there that left us feeling threatened, and the way the staff stepped in — calm, protective, and completely on our side — meant more to us than they probably realise. They made us feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for in a moment that could have been really unsettling.
Le Nemours gave us more than just a place to rest — it gave us comfort, reassurance, and a reminder of how good people can be. We’re so grateful.

This wasn't a bad place at all. The outdoor seating was just fine.
Service was good, but not completely amazing. It did take some time for us to get everything, but the view on the patio was fantastic. This was toward the end of our trip and it was a good time.
I had a salad and a croque monsieur, which you really cannot go wrong with on this one. My wife had a wine and croque madame. The food good, just the real ding was the wait time for this place.

On the facade it doesn't look like a good Chinese restaurant with their ordinary signage ..however decided to try to check it out since the menu says it has a variety of my fave dishes. To my surprise 😮 the food is excellent in taste though portions just about right for 2 persons. We ordered quite abit from fried spring rolls steamed pork and crab( dumplings skin was nicely done and the inner was juicy when you bite into the skin)pork ribs bamboo shoot soup dongpo braised pork(not the best sauce needs more seasoning or 3 layer pork need more cooking time shredded beef with 🫑 capsicum fried string beans with mince pork in hot chilli oil.Overall it's a goto place if you're craving for Chinese foods.

Had a good dinner at Autour du Yangtse. All food was fresh and all tasty. The shrimp dumplings were steaming fresh and hot when served. The hot and sour soup was wounderful, very spicy and again - steaming hot. The main dish was a spicy version of Kung Pao Chicken. My reservation was at 18:30, opening time. I was the first to arrived, but the small restaurant was full within a few minutes. The place was clean. Most of the diners were Asian. A truly nice dinner,

5 star for their Xiao long bao. 100% homemade as we could see the lady (that we guessed she’s the grandma) making the dumpling behind the counter. They also steamed the dumpling when received your order. The dumpling skin was not too thick, perfect to our taste. Filling was juicy with broth. However the broth was a bit sweeter compared the other address in Paris.
The pork rib soup was so purely done and overpriced.
Only good address for Xiao long bao

A very pleasant accident that I found the restaurant that was just ideal. They didn’t update the site to say they were open during summer on Sunday. Additionally it was not even visible as a listing.
BUT... it was lovely. Good food, Great service, and well priced.

24-Oct-2108 Excellent food... Great vegetarian options! Went here for dinner with a vegetarian friend. We were both surprised to discover they offer an all you can eat buffet dinner option for e22.50. And the quality is very high. Delicious hummus, soup, chicken, vegetables, rice, pita pizza.... You will not be disappointed. The restaurant appears to be run by a lovely family. I believe mom, dad and two sons work all working together. I liked to see that. So pleasant and polite. An older couple came to the door of the restaurant and one son ran to the door to open it for the elderly woman. Such respect is commendable. Good job mom and dad! I am from the USA and come to Paris occasionally. I'm glad I discovered this gem. I will be back!
Please give me a thumbs up for this review.

Came in on Saturday right before 19.00 sitting at the bar since I am party of one. Asked the waiter to recommend their specials which the cold egg noodles and seafood balls.
They were both good with the noodles fresh.
Ordered beef cheeks as extra because I was very hungry. The cheeks lack tenderness but cooked well.
At 19.30 there were many people queuing for seats. Overall, the food was good.

We ordered 5 tapes and a soba . The price is good and quality okay . It’s a bit oily and salty somehow . It’s can be good if it is less oily .
I also order a take out salmon roe on rice . It is fresh and large , enough for two meals.
I have not try the ramen or rice dish but I think they can be on point from what I saw.
It’s hard to find such a causal place to have a meal and catch up with friends. The bar chair is a little high and can be hard to sit on it . There are less than 8 tables available.
Overall it can be a good place to order take out . A little overpriced on some appetizers such as the spinach and the pumpkin

The restaurant has a great atmosphere and a beautiful décor, but unfortunately the food really isn’t up to the same standard. We ordered the homerice and the udon: the homerice was honestly not good at all, and the udon noodles were overcooked. The tempura was completely soggy, and the meat was of particularly poor quality. Overall, the setting is lovely, but the dishes were quite disappointing.

Portions were okay. Ordered oyakodon, tempura udon and draft beer.
Oyakodon's egg could be made more runny but the chicken pieces were good.
Udon may have been overcooked as it was a bit mushy rather than springy and soup was saltier than expected.
Also this was the only time in Paris where we were asked for a tip. Perhaps it's a common practice in the area.
