The breaded lenguado (sole) with capers was simply awesome, so simple yet so good. Desserts were excellent too everyone in our party of nine loved the place. Very professional service and a great atmosphere.

Basic Portuguese restaurant.
Delicious food. A bit pricey but the bacalhau 🐟and shrimp 🦐 dishes was very good.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for typical 🇵🇹Portuguese food.

Food was very very tasty but quite oily, staff was incredibly nice and very attentive but unfortunately not speaking English, no music in the restaurant and quite calm and quiet atmosphere.

I'm going to use the word "quaint" to describe this place, as it was a bit like stepping back in time (I imagine) in terms of the decor and the serving staff. That doesn't make it bad though! The 4 stars was mainly due to the lack of menu items/options really.
The food was served really professionally. For example the sardines (starter) are filletted and deheaded at the table (and were big and delicious) and the Alfaia Cod shared main was served on a large plate and split by the server onto our plates. The cod steak was huge - over half a kilo - and beautifully cooked, with a delicious sauce.
NB: they had zero alcohol lager, which is not readily available elsewhere.

First dinner spot on our arrival to Rio. Lovely atmosphere but I am giving it a 4 because we were not fond of several dishes. Perhaps we ordered the wrong thing and may be missed something amazing, but I would not recommend salmon carpaccio or beef carpaccio either. Salmon tasted like it was half cooked and tasteless. We pretty much left the whole thing untouched. Beef carpaccio was lacking flavor. We loved their sea food soup, that came recommended, octopus appetiser was so- so. Moqueca De Camarão (shrimp in a special sauce on a bed of some veggy mush) was tasty.

O Peixe Vivo – Rio de Janeiro
If you want seafood done properly — not flashy, not touristy, just high-end and precise — this is it.
The service is genuinely luxury-level. The staff portions everything for you at the table, almost like a refined French dining room. It’s attentive without hovering. They guide the experience instead of just dropping plates and disappearing.
The fish was beautiful and impeccably fresh. We had the yellowtail and the sea bass — both clean, well-prepared, and letting the quality speak for itself. When seafood is that fresh, you don’t need to overcomplicate it.
My only negative: on the yellowtail, they poured the gravy directly over the fish instead of serving it on the side to dip. With fish that fresh, I prefer control over the sauce. That said, the Brazilian-style preparation came with extra shrimp, which was a nice bonus surprise and added great value.
Total cost for two people with drinks was about $90, which for the level of service and seafood quality felt more than fair.
If you care about real seafood quality and polished service in Rio, O Peixe Vivo delivers.

Excellent service and location.
Mixed feelings about the food.
The popcorn shrimp / fried shrimp was so good, fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend and the serving can be an entree if not too hungry.
The linguine with garlic and mushroom though was not good though. I ordered it without cream because of the lactose but it was dry, the garlic was dried and crispy, and there was like no flavor. They should remove this from the menu or upgrade the quality immediately.
Other than that, everything was great.

It must ne a tourist trap. One meal is for like three people, but the photos look like as if it is for one people. If you order two meals for two people half of the meal will be thrown away. Food tastes mediocre. Wouldn’t recommend. The photos are only some of the food they brought to the table, we order only two meal.

We had a great experience. The servers were very attentive. We arrived on a Saturday around 1pm. The only down side was how long it took for our food to arrive. The reason I gave 4 stars. The food was delicious. One of the best pina colada I’ve tasted in Copacabana. I highly recommend giving this place a try.

The food was delicious and the service was the most outstanding! It is very cute inside as well as in a great location. There is lots of stores nearby. Weigh by kilo buffet had a lot of good choices - I was a huge fan that they had beans with no meat! Great for vegetarians like me.
I highly recommend.

I have never had such good service before and food from the Copacabana area in my life. Their egg bacon cheese sandwich is amazing. It cost roughly 15 to 18 real dollars. Don't forget to leave a tip!

The IBIS front desk recommended we try this place for breakfast. We don’t speak Portuguese so it took us a few minutes to figure out how it worked. The super cool restaurant is part bakery and part restaurant. Loved watching locals visit to purchase pastries while we sampled a variety of Brazilian breakfast treats from the buffet. Table side coffee service was appreciated.

Love this place and it's been my go to place for breakfast without any second thoughts.
The price is a bit above average but the quality and choice of freshly made food is off the charts, and make it all worthwhile.

A great place for breakfast! Really enjoyed being able to come here in the mornings, easy to get a table and food paid for by weight. The espressos were cheap and price was decent - good value for money! I’m from London and was in brazil for around 3 months- this place was close to where I was staying and was in a convenient location. It was clean, great bakery for fresh bread and baked goods, toilet was clean so all round great place for a breaky.

A wonderful bakery in Copacabana! Workers are very helpful and friendly, and there is a great variety of bread available every day. They also sell cold cuts and various cakes and baked goods. This is a great place to grab breakfast or to get your daily bread from.

It was a great surprise, within walking distance of home.
The ambiance is modern, comfortable, and intelligent—everything you order from an individualized tablet. At the same time, all the attendants are thoughtful and ready to assist you with any help you need.

First time visiting, was on list for a while. Food quality was good and the sushi was fresh. However, service was inattentive, my drink never arrived and I had to ask about it while other tables were served. The staff did remove the drink and service fee when I requested it, which I appreciated. Hoping service improves because the food has potential. Usually wait staff will check in with you, but this waitress never did. I was the first client of the day at 12:00, and it was a family and a table of two that came in after me. If it was crowded I would understand. Like I said food was great but the service needs to be improved.

Came for dinner on a Sunday evening and was pretty underwhelmed by both the food and service. The fish had almost no flavor — the salmon and tuna tasted watery — and the rolls were just plain and lacked any real seasoning or creativity. It’s inexpensive, so if you’re looking for something quick and cheap it’s not the worst option, but if you’re hoping for a good sushi experience, I’d look elsewhere.

The food was not super fresh, it is more "modern" then my taste. I disnt like the back salmon, octopus with garlic.
The tables are small to fit more people but it is not very couzy.
I really hated the way to order. It breaks the experience.(using an ipad - that is not easy).
Overall to me expensive for what the delivery is.

Excellent experience! It's a buffet with numerous dishes and meat station where they prepare meat/salmon for you. Everything is at the same price, they just weigh your choice. We grabbed some fresh salmon from the buffet and ordered meat. The picanha was tough, but the filet mignon was incredible. Everything we tasted was fresh and delicious, pricy positions were always available. We loved the place and would recommend it to others.
