Great service, the food was so delicious, a very good selection of meat and the buffet was so much to choose from. Pasta salad, sushi, green salads, rice and beans, vegetables and so many others like empanadas omg so delicious. And the service was really up top. We really felt very comfortable with everyone from the front all the way until pay time.. everything was excellent we will definitely come back.

Definitely a must-do in Brazil. A super nice spot in Ipanema, we were warmly welcomed and then the food journey began. Different types of meat are served at regular intervals. You can then decide for yourself whether you want some or prefer to take a break. On the buffer there are salads, other hot dishes and sushi. Some of the dishes were served a little quickly, but the quality of the meat was really very good!
The service was friendly, spoke minimal English and looked after us very well. A really great experience :)
Reservations can easily be made via what's app.

This place slaps. The meats are super flavorful, juicy, and tender. Their special Christmas/New Years meats (pork suckling and expensive beef cuts) are great. The sushi is the best I’ve had so far in Brazil, their salad bar is fully decked out, and they have a great selection of drinks. Definitely worth a visit.

Exceptional service, and excellent food.
A definite must if in Rio.
With drinks, more drinks, and desserts in the total, it was about 250r$ ea.
Worth it for a splurge.

Great food, great location and exceptional service. We visited and my son left his bag behind and one of the waiters ran after us to return the bag. Not very many people would do that! Highly recommend!

I was looking for a local food during my stay in Rio de Janeiro (my first time in Brazil btw) and I found this one on google maps.
I had the combination of two of the best amazonas’ dishes (according to the menu) Mix avatars + manicoba.
The food was really tasty.
Sadly they don’t have much options on the menu. Only one dish for vegetarian. The price is a bit higher than the portion of their servings.
All in all, it was a good experience.

Lovely small restaurant. Staff friendly despite the language barrier English to portuguese. We had a cheese slice and the crab. Both tasty.
However the acai is a must. It is worth going just for the acai like the locals.
Scooby Todd - 2 months ago
This place is borderline scam. Prices are VERY expensive and portions are VERY small. Quality is below average (except of Acai)
Acai is nice, nothing crazy and 'wow blew my mind' but its definitely the best acai I have ever tried in Rio. (it just tastes the way it should, nothing crazy)
If you are for Acai, come. Otherwise dont bother with other dishes
Iakob Kv - a year ago
This place is so exceptional. I've eaten here multiple times each trip to Rio (over years), usually after a day at the beach. If you are in Brazil and want to get the real acai, this is the place. Be aware it has a bitter taste, so adding the honey option helps to smooth the flavor without making it sweet. The nutrients and fiber are fantastic. Can't go wrong adding banana or granola. You can sit inside or out. The acai is cold, so it's great on a hot day, or nice to enjoy outside on an evening or cooler day. Enjoy the real taste you just won't get in other places in the world (or most of Rio)

I haven’t tried many açaís but this one was pretty good and not too sweet! Has a restaurant to sit in and a few toppings to choose from, but not that many options for on top.

We came here for their Feijoada. It was quite the spread with a small pot of stewed meats of your choice, beans, kale, yucca fries, and other sides. I did find it quite salty though. Service was nice, but no indoor seats as it was only for reservation. If you want AC, make a reservation.
Angela T - 3 months ago
On our second night in Rio, we decided to try Casa da Feijoada, which was within walking distance from where we were staying. It’s a fairly small restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating, and the crowd seemed to be mostly locals—which is always a good sign.
They’re known for their traditional Feijoada (black bean stew), but I decided to go with the Filé Mignon com Catupiry (Filet Mignon with Catupiry cheese). I was a little skeptical at first—I’d never had filet with a cheese sauce before—but oh my god, it was delicious! The Catupiry cheese is seriously amazing.
I definitely recommend this place if you're in the area. Next time, I think I’ll finally try their famous Feijoada!

Ordered the traditional feijoada, descent, not bad but nothing to rave about. The bean soup was solid I liked it. My favorite part was the spicy chili pepper oil, just a little bit of oil goes a long way and mixing that in with the beans and rice is very tasty. Owner is also very nice.

the best Feijoada i’ve ever tried! i saw this place recommended in google maps and decided to take the family to try some traditional feijoada and the expectations were high and they definitely delivered. it is quite expensive though, and you pay per person who eats so it’s not a ‘plate’ per se. there were 4 of us but we managed to pay for 2 of us but we had to order another dish. the food is incredible, they give you some courtesy shots of cachaza.

Fantastic ambiance and top notch service. Food leaves much to be desired. Breads were generally excellent, butter average, as are the sundried tomato and classic pesto.
Appetizers, mains, and desserts were all very underwhelming. The scallop trio had one that was over-salted. The lobster pasta although al dente, had very little depth and balance in the sauce. The profiteroles were fine - the ice cream that came with it was surprisingly crystallized. Disappointing overall for a restaurant housed in Fasano. That said, kudos to the mixologist. The cocktail was EXCELLENT.

Overrated. The service … waiters are constantly interrupting; it’s difficult to be left in peace. The food is over-priced and I was charged an additional random charge. The food was slow to arrive and tasted bland

The staff really made me dined at this place. A gentleman who's I think was a waiter was super nice and spoke English well. I was impressed at how he explained and recommended dishes and wine for me. I really enjoyed the wine that he recommended. The dish was little salty with the sauce. However, it is still delicious.

Service and atmosphere was great but the food was a bit disappointing. The tabouli was way too salty, the baked kibe was dry and there was too much tahini in the babaganoush. Obviously that's my tastes but the overall experience was good and filling.
Kari Q. - 2 years ago
Got the appetizer sampler and the katfa dish along with a caprihina and a draft beer. Portions are large. The appetizer had taziki, hummus and babaganush. They were all bland but there are sauces like garlic and pepper that you can add to spice them up. The katfa dish was nice with the added fried onions a nice touch. The caprihina was perfectly balanced. The draft beer was pretty warm snd was soon flat. I would reccomend the Katfa and the caprihina. The katfa would be ok to share between to people as a small meal.

If you like boring, bland, tasteless Brazilian food like dry, stale, crumbly white bread, hot dogs or even sawdust (farofa) for breakfast, you might not like this place. But if you like your food to have flavor, this might become your favorite restaurant.
And they actually have waiters that speak the universal language of English. In a tourist zone! Who would have THUNK it!
If only they could do something about the inconsiderate dog owners/sidewalk diners that don't (or can't) control their pets....

A Good value meal in Ipanema and nice spot to see Ipanema’s routine. I live near Copanema Mix and I have my meals there at least once a week. It’s cheap, quickly and the staff are super nice. You can have fresh juices there, meals and sandwiches. I would skip snacks, pizza and deserts. There are excellent combos for breakfast and lunch.

Typical lanchonete with sandwiches and juices. I've been there for breakfast and I ordered egg whites with hearts of palm and turkey (cold cuts). The service is pretty average, but they're not there to please you, they're just there to bring your meal to the table. I recommend if you are nearby and just want to grab a bite to eat. Because I live right across the street it's convenient. It's not AMAZING, but lanchonete suits its purpose. Reason for 4 stars? It's open 24/7.

Really chill spot, I received the carne asado Plato de dia.
I ordered it Togo and the waiter actually knew what I meant so that was great!
They have Mexican coke but you can’t take the bottle Togo. So they gave me a little cup to take with me.
Try to speak Portuguese and maybe ask for dressing with the salad.

The place is filthy and it has a dirty appearance to it. The helpers or make believe that they are waitresses have a poor look to them, their "uniform" needs a good cleaning and generally speaking it has a dirty appearance all around. I was kind enough to give it 3 stars........

Big Nectar is the least expensive most delicious restaurant in the city, and they're all across Rio.
Note: If you're ordering, tell the cashier directly, bc the staff is quite exhausted. They're not trying to be rude, Big Nectar is busy from open to close everyday.

Located right at the corner of a very busy street in iPanema, 1 block from the metro and 2 blocks from the beach this juice bar gets really busy especially on the weekends. With their extensive menu, you and your buddies can munch on the local favorites like salgados, tapiocas or choose from the many exotic fruit juices. There are is really no bad outcomes here. Prices are inline with the similar places around the area. Give it a chance, you will like it.

It is not the best fillet mignon I tried but it is the best for the price. I paid 30 BRL for fillet mignon and it was in good size. I also got lemon juice and it was only 11 BRL for 500ml. Definitely recommended as a budget option.

One of th best meals that I had in Rio. Amazing authentic menu featuring Portuguese favorites. Great wine selection, Port and cocktail menu. The cod is the star of the show but many other options. The Seafood risotto was a favorite. Includes a high end deli style market. Be prepared Seating is limited and a lot of times a wait even on weekdays.

What a discovery!!! We braved the streets of Rio and we were not disappointed. Perfect Portuguese food place. Overall - amazing food place. Octopus - perfect, beef rib risotto - amazing, bacalhau legereiro - like in best Portuguese places, bacalhau abrazz - splendid. Yes, yes, yes - a destination in itself!

Great food in an atmospheric setting.
This restaurant / delicatessen was obviously very popular, as when we arrived there were no tables available and we had to wait about 15 minutes.
It was certainly worth the wait however, as the choice of traditional Portuguese dishes was varied. We opted for some small appetizers prior to selecting the seafood risotto, beef rib risotto, seafood skewer and sausage and octopus moqueca (stew).
All of these dishes were generous in size and very tasty. Some of us still had a little space for dessert - the chocolate torte was really rich but lovely.
A great setting - with hundreds of bottles of wine all around. We only had individual glasses of wine with the meal but a semillier was on hand for advice on selecting bottles.
The staff were very friendly and efficient and if we had been staying in the area longer, would have revisited this restaurant.

On our fifth and final night in Rio, we decided to have dinner at a Portuguese restaurant called Mercearia da Praça. It’s a beautiful store/restaurant that specializes in Portuguese wines and foods. The interior is modern and classy, and the service was hands down the best we experienced in all of Rio.
I ordered the Portuguese-style Filet Mignon, while my partner went with the seafood skewers. We also shared a bottle of red wine. Everything was absolutely excellent.
The filet came with a rich Portuguese-style sauce or gravy and a side of house-made fries—such a great combination. This place was a perfect way to end our trip, and I highly recommend visiting this wonderful spot if you're in Ipanema!

Visited in July 2024.
Brazil. Rio de Janeiro.
We chose this restaurant based on reviews because it was close by. It’s a restaurant and a grocery store, where you can buy some food and wine. The restaurant itself is pretty big with lots of seating, but the tables are pretty close together.
Food:
We tried two appetizers and two main courses. We had the cod mousse in a zucchini flower. It was okay, but the filling lacked flavor. You could barely taste the cod. We also had the crab croquette with a tom yum style sauce. It was a delicious dish with a vibrant sauce and a crispy croquette.
For our main course, I chose the seafood skewer, because a lot of people had raved about it. The squid was completely chewy and rubbery. You might want to take the squid off the position and replace it with mussels or something else because squid is rarely cooked so that it's soft and juicy. The shrimp wasn’t peeled, which is strange. We had to dig through it with a fork because it didn’t peel well. The fish was cooked well, but the octopus was on the verge of being dry. My husband ordered grilled octopus, and his was cooked much better—it was softer and juicier. All of the dishes had some kind of flaw.
Service:
The waiters speak English, which is a plus. The service was really slow. We were at the restaurant for 1.5 hours. For people who just want a quick bite, that’s a lot of time. We waited 20 minutes for our dessert, which was ready. The waiters were mostly chatting with regulars, so it was hard to flag someone down. We had to ask for the bill three times.
Conclusion:
The menu is interesting and has a lot of things I wanted to try, but the dishes we tried were all average at best. It’s a one-time visit for us. We don’t want to go back.
