was reading reviews on Google and found this place, so I decided to go with my mom during our vacation. When we arrived, the waiter kindly welcomed us and gave us a table for two. Within seconds of sitting down, food started arriving: they brought different starters, and we were told we could indicate whether we wanted more meat or not. There was a wide variety pork, beef, chicken, sausage, ribs, and more. They also served several side dishes like fries, grilled banana, farofa, etc., and there was a salad bar where you could help yourself as much as you wanted. The service was friendly and fast. The only thing I didn’t like was that no one told us it was only an “all you can eat” system. It would be great if they also offered à la carte options. I would say the service is excellent and the meat is good but I have tried better, nothing special. I love the variety of food in general. Just keep in mind the dessert is not included in the buffet.

SO. MUCH. FOOD. Overdose, even! Carratao offers a gigantic selection of meat, salad, sushi, fishes, and whatever your heart desires. We were quite overwhelmed with how often the waiters came to offer even more meat and everything else was plenty. The price is more on the higher side, but well worth it for the experience. Super recommended.

The food was stunning, picanha good; steak good; lamb good; chorizo good.. temperature of the meat was excellent. The staff is super friendly, wide selection op drinks. The selection of sides is very diverse.

Carretão Ipanema Classic Grill offers an authentic Brazilian BBQ buffet experience. The variety of meats is impressive and keeps coming to your table. The quality and portion make it excellent value for money. A great place to enjoy churrasco.

Excellent açai! We've been here several times every time we come to Rio. The fruit is fresh and flavorful, the cupuaçu is delicious, and the açai is cold, earthy, and excellent. We've had their tapioca crepes too and those were great too. Regarding service, I get the impression that this place is doing their best to survive and the stress is noticeable. They appreciate cash so as not to pay the cc fees and give a 5% discount if you pay in cash, but they will accept card payment as well. I like the location across from the praça and sincerely hope it survives since we dream of this açai when we aren't in Rio.

I saw several videos on Instagram claiming that this place has the best açaí in Rio, but honestly, I didn’t find anything special about it. It’s extremely expensive and offers a very limited selection of toppings. The banana was unripe, and there were even a few ice chunks in my açaí. Also, it was a bit watery and the medium size felt more like a small. Overall, I really don’t understand why this place is so highly rated.

The most expensive Acai I ate in Brazil. For the price you pay (also extra for service), the acai shouldn't be served in a plastic cup. The place itself looks like a bistro. I didn’t get why it’s so expensive

good food but TOO much… we ordered the feijoada for two person, it is just sad how much meat goes to waste. It is an all you can eat but we would’ve appreciated to start with smaller portions and ask for more if we wanted to. But beginning with huge portions…. makes it impossible to not to waste. The food gets cold after some time. Too many dishes, too many meat types, just too much going on flavor and texture wise. we had breakfast only today and no other meal in between. Only ate 30% of the food served.

If I could give 10 stars I would! Casa da Feijoada was hands down one of the best dining experiences we had in Rio de Janeiro. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional and the food was absolutely incredible fresh, flavorful, authentic, and prepared with so much care. Every dish we tried was a 10/10. We had the feijoada, oxtail, roasted chicken, and moqueca, and every single dish was outstanding. The flavors were rich and delicious, and it was some of the best food we ate during our entire trip to Rio. A special thank you to Roger, who made our experience unforgettable. He took the time to explain the history behind the food, showed us how to enjoy each dish properly, and even prepared us for just how much food was coming! He shared stories about the restaurant’s family history and taught us about the cashew fruit and its role in Brazilian culture. His kindness, generosity, and passion for the restaurant made us feel completely at home. We also enjoyed three different caipirinhas, all of which were fantastic. You can truly feel the pride and tradition behind this family-owned restaurant. If you’re visiting Rio or even if you’re a local looking for outstanding feijoada. Casa da Feijoada is a must-visit. The food, the hospitality, and the overall experience were all five stars. We can’t wait to come back!

We adore this place, from the food to the services is amazing, we absolutely love it. We order the famous feijoada and deserve all the attention of the house. We completely recommend this stop for other tourists looking for authentic food.

Service was excellent. Trenette, black cod and filet mignon very well prepared but trenette, risotto's no taste, little love... taste all the same. And when there are still customers, you shouldn't start tidying up the room - given the cost of the evening, the service provided and the high standards set, it isn't entirely appropriate.

The food was great and so was service but they charged us $100 just for walking in without reservation? The restaurant wasn’t even busy. They should have mentioned this to us when we asked for a table. Never seen this charge at a restaurant before

Fantastic ambiance and top notch service. Food leaves much to be desired. Breads were generally excellent, butter average, as are the sundried tomato and classic pesto. Appetizers, mains, and desserts were all very underwhelming. The scallop trio had one that was over-salted. The lobster pasta although al dente, had very little depth and balance in the sauce. The profiteroles were fine - the ice cream that came with it was surprisingly crystallized. Disappointing overall for a restaurant housed in Fasano. That said, kudos to the mixologist. The cocktail was EXCELLENT.

We tried the sharing hummus kibbe, labneh and babaganoush plate and it was disappointing. Kibbe too sour, everything needed more lemon and the tahini used was odd, i think Asian sesame paste. Everything was a bit bitter and just not right. The ambience was nice though and nice outdoor seating. Maybe the grilled meats are better.

Got the appetizer sampler and the katfa dish along with a caprihina and a draft beer. Portions are large. The appetizer had taziki, hummus and babaganush. They were all bland but there are sauces like garlic and pepper that you can add to spice them up. The katfa dish was nice with the added fried onions a nice touch. The caprihina was perfectly balanced. The draft beer was pretty warm snd was soon flat. I would reccomend the Katfa and the caprihina. The katfa would be ok to share between to people as a small meal.

Service and atmosphere was great but the food was a bit disappointing. The tabouli was way too salty, the baked kibe was dry and there was too much tahini in the babaganoush. Obviously that's my tastes but the overall experience was good and filling.

A Good value meal in Ipanema and nice spot to see Ipanema’s routine. I live near Copanema Mix and I have my meals there at least once a week. It’s cheap, quickly and the staff are super nice. You can have fresh juices there, meals and sandwiches. I would skip snacks, pizza and deserts. There are excellent combos for breakfast and lunch.

This is where the locals go. It’s open 24/7 and has everything you would want for breakfast. We went there every morning and sometimes again later that day. 10/10 recommend.

Honestly pretty good spot for the price. The filet of fish ive had twice and it was quite good both times. Had the carne asada another time which i liked less but was still good. Probably one of the best value places for the area. They also seem to have good variety of food.

Really chill spot, I received the carne asado Plato de dia. I ordered it Togo and the waiter actually knew what I meant so that was great! They have Mexican coke but you can’t take the bottle Togo. So they gave me a little cup to take with me. Try to speak Portuguese and maybe ask for dressing with the salad.

Medium price range for açaí During my 5 times in Rio I found the price of açaí from high to low Some fancy açaí place > Corner fast food plus açaí place like big nectar > On the beach price > Zona sul super market price > Copacabana beach street cart cheapest

Small and sweet restaurant with a good choice of meals and fresh juices. The prices are very affordable. Beware of the mosquitos, get e repellent.

A little gem with authentic Portuguese vibes. Truly one of our favourite restaurant in Rio. We were a group of 8 and we came back multiple times. All the dishes are really great, we particularly enjoyed the fish & fresh seafood. The cocktails & desserts are amazing as well. The staff is super nice as well.

Mercearia da Praça – Restaurante Português is a lovely restaurant with delicious food and a beautiful atmosphere. Even though there was a bit of a language barrier, communication worked very well and everyone made a real effort to help us. The staff were attentive and welcoming, which made the experience feel comfortable and enjoyable. Overall, it was a very pleasant visit and definitely worth recommending.

I ordered the octopus, and the food was delicious with a nice Portuguese style. However, my experience with the service left me feeling uncomfortable. As an Asian customer, I felt that I was treated differently by the waiter serving my table. When I asked where the restroom was, he suddenly claimed he could not understand me, even though we had communicated in English without any issues before that. He also made no effort to help or use a translation app, unlike other staff members I encountered. After paying, I asked for a Nota Fiscal with a QR code. I waited a long time and was initially given only the payment receipt. Even after showing a picture of the document I needed, there was another long wait before I finally received it. I cannot say for certain what the reason was, but the interaction made me feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. The contrast between the outward friendliness and the actual service I received left a negative impression on my visit, which is unfortunate because I genuinely enjoyed the food. Rio de Janeiro is a wonderful place, I just got the only one upset experience here. Wish other Asian customers do not need the unfriendly people here.

Great Portuguese restaurant at General Osório in Ipanema. Amazing Portuguese wine selection. The cod fish croquettes are delicious. The pastel is huge and very tasty. We had the grilled fish and cod and there excellent. Service was also excellent. Renan was very helpful and knowledgeable in Portuguese wines.

Another great restaurant on the Square. Medium-rare Steak, Smashed Potato and fries done to perfection. 👌🏼 Very friendly and attentive service in both Portuguese and some English speaking staff. We sat outside, inside looked amazing though. Affordable pricing (+- R$90 for the Beef/Steak meals) — I would highly recommend!

OK. Let me start by saying they screwed up our order and it took over an hour to get our appetizer despite largely empty restaurant on a Monday night. Not English proficient at all. The filet mignon was so delicious that it overcomes all the bad service above. Price was reasonable too.

The food here was okay overall , however both focaccia breads were burnt at the bottom with the topics being cold (!). There’s for sure better Italian food in the city but this wasn’t terrible, drinks were strong and the restaurant was easy to find .

I went here twice on my Rio trip. The spaghetti bolognese were very “ketchupy” and spaghetti carbonara very creamy, but amazingly seasoned. So I was actually very happy over all

I actually thought this was a Portuguese cuisine restaurant - my fault! However, the Italian food was well presented. Service was great, friendly staff, greeted and seated instantly. Great tasting sugar-free Limao Caipirinha (probably the best I’ve had in Rio). The only downside to me was the brown/dark sauce over the Spaghetti in the Fillet Mignon dish — it had a slight bitter taste to it. An English/South African person would describe it as a “Bovril” or “Marmite” taste — but, ate it all nonetheless.

This is a good supermarket in the heart of Rio de Janeiro Brazil. It's located 1 block from Copacabana Beach and 1 block from the slums. It's in a very interesting location. The uterus are great abs they have a solid wine selection. The snacks were a bit lite, but overall, this supermarket met our needs.

Not quite 24 hours... Closes at 22:00 hours on Sunday and opens again at 06:00 hours Monday. As good as any other Zona Sul in the area and the late hours help.
