5 Star Rating I've photographed wedding receptions at Fredericks multiple times now, and have had such a brilliant time each time. The staff made sure to take care of me, they were polite and lovely. The space itself is a diamond option being so close to Islington Town Hall, as it's able to hold a high capacity of guests, something quite unusual for a restaurant in the Islington area. It's got brilliant light in the dining space, and a unique outdoor area which is useful for the drinks reception and speeches. It also is a rare bit of greenery for any couple or group photos you need. The food is brilliant, but that's a given!!

5 Star Rating It was for my husband's birthday with a couple friends. The atmosphere was perfect, light music at the background and pleasant chattering. The food was impressive, even the most unassuming chicken soup was packed with flavour. The rissotto was also very delicious, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Everything on the menu was so appealing the group had a bit of difficulty to choose. I personally like a menu with plenty of seafood selection and Frederick's fits the bill. Because it was a birthday, they brought out a candle on an ice cream, this was not rehearsed (they asked the reason of occasion on the booking form and I just answered) and I am glad they did it this way and everything was seamless & effortless. The whole group was very happy and would be more than happy to return again to try other things on the menu.

4 Star Rating I have been to Fredericks a number of times and have always been impressed. It is a very tastefully designed minimalist modern British restaurant with great food and great service. The staff are knowledgeable, accommodating and very helpful. On this occasion I started with a salmon and avocado tartare which was Japanese inspired and tasted fabulous. I followed that up with a salmon en croute, roast vegetables and broccoli. The salmon en croute was really good ; crispy pastry, juicy well cooked fish with just the right amount of bechamel sauce. I finished with a creme brulle and a double expresso. The creme brulle was rich and creamy and the expresso strong but not bitter. Fredericks is a bit pricey but it is well worth it IMHO. I would definitely go back if I am in the area and very much enjoyed my meal.

5 Star Rating Delightful experience! From outside I thought I was going to enter a very old and antique place but the moment you enter the establishment you see some amazing decor with sublime art and decor. The food is incredible, with a good mix of options but most importantly enough for every palate. Good vegetarian options from starters to dessert! Highly recommend this place if you love good service and customer experience and too notch curated food.

5 Star Rating I was faced with quite a challenge of finding a place to eat for three generations. My grandparents are not much for novelties, unlike me and my partner, my sister is vegetarian and my parents sometimes feel adventurous, but often stick with what they know they like. Fredrick’s turned out to be right in the middle - enough classics, but also some of more interesting combinations. We all ended up enjoying the meal. Between all of us we had fish, steak, duck, lamb, tofu and chicken and there wasn’t a crumb left on any of the plates! I really appreciated how seasonal the menu felt - lots of root vegetables, beans, kale and lentils. Even desserts were very autumnal! Overall - if you’re looking for a culinary extravaganza, that might not be the right place for the occasion. However, the cooking is great, the ingredients are fantastic - what’s more to like? The menu allows everybody to choose something they will enjoy. Not everything in the world needs to be a sensory overload. I felt like the prices weren’t too overboard for what was on the plate. Sure - it’s on the slightly higher end of prices than some of the other places in Islington, but I genuinely feel that the product deserves it. I especially enjoyed my starter of scallops with onion purée and lentils - really nice combo! Finally no peas and lardons on my scallops! :) Also the fig and almond tart with cinnamon ice cream! That was heaven. The recommended wine pairing wasn’t available, but I got offered something that I can’t remember anymore that was so so so delicious with that dessert. It was just perfectly harmonious experience. Thank you Fredrick’s Team!

5 Star Rating Great place across from our hotel.....the staff was fun and friendly. Had my mandatory Scotch egg and they made a Spicy Bloody Mary that was fabulous. We also shared the cheeseburger sliders and wings. The surprise for me was to find something with marmite that I liked. (Try the sausage roll) Finished the evening with a Bakewell Tart cocktail. Definitely a place to return when in London.

4 Star Rating Sunday roast, 28 day aged beef. Lovely pub, traditional furnishings, roof terrace, well looked after. Friendly staff. Food was lovely, fabulous cut of beef. HUGE yorkshires, and slightly more up market presentation and delivery (£20). All round great roast, absolutely recommend. Big portion, horseradish to accompany. Extra gravy provided! Guinness was lifeless though, no action and thin.

4 Star Rating I was tempted to give the food a 4 because of the limited vegan options. But that wouldn’t be fair as it’s not a vegan restaurant and there are sufficient options. Besides the taste and quality is excellent as well as super filling. This was my first time and the staff were great at explaining the process and options. It is fun and reassuring to watch them prepare your meal and be asked what you want included; an anxious vegans’ dream. The decor is super colourful and fun. My only critique of the atmosphere was the music was really loud; which was a little much during the day while the restaurant wasn’t full. Great Latin vibe though. A fantastic experience and I will come again.

2 Star Rating Despite being a proud Mexican eatery no one speaks Spanish. I ordered the vegetarian burrito. They only had few scraps of the vegetables. The girl said she would give me extra guacamole to compensate. The burrito ended up being really full. I suspected it was going to be a nightmare to eat it as it was, also given the fact that they only wanted to give me, initially, a small napkin. So I asked the girl if she could cut the burrito in half. She said they're not allowed because of "cross contamination". I didn't understand the relationship between my question and her answer... I said: "you can use a clean knife and there won't be any cross contamination". Still she said they're not allowed. It was a very frustrating first experience at this restaurant. The reguetón music doesn't help either. The positives: the girl was very friendly and despite everything she tried to help. The burrito was really good, big and cheap. Nice decoration.

4 Star Rating So we ordered a delivery of 2 hotboxes and a burrito. Although the picture of the hotboxes looked big, I was expecting something quite small . When it arrived, it did appear to be a standard size but there was more than enough food in each rice box to possibly get 2 lunches, out of 1 box. They were enjoyed and would definitely be re ordered. Th burrito was huge and fell apart while I was eating it but very tasty. The waffle fries were very tasty but the portion size was as very small and quite pricey.

5 Star Rating Great place to have tasty burritos. We have been going for many years and have never been disappointed. Food is tasty and quite fresh due to so much demand, plenty of seating, staff is helpful, and music adds to the chill out atmosphere. Its quite easy to get to given the tube and bus stations nearby. There's also a mall with cinema right next to this place for spending more time in the area.

4 Star Rating Always love a tortilla burrito, the beef is delicious and worth the extra £. Went after seeing their £2.50 happy hour 5-8pm every day (I think just for summer tho). Generous frozen marg, delicious burrito. Service was average, the woman/manager who served us was clearly hating life. Felt sorry for the trainee girl with her (who made us 2 great burritos with supervision!) as didn’t seem like a particularly positive working environment, but who knows. 4 Star Rating There's something about this place, maybe the vibe or the people who run it. I have always loved coming here for the tortilla. Although I genuinely believe food quality can improve but they definitely have a culture of service which I admire. For ex today I had a tough day at work and their manager Ash had a chat with us and it felt it's okay. I think it's quality of people like Ash that I'd come here again. 5 Star Rating . The Angelic 📍 57 Liverpool Rd, London N1 0RJ 🚇 Angel 🍺 £6.00 Amstel An Eye Catching Islington Local. The Angelic is located just around the corner from Chapel Market on Liverpool Road. The nearest Tube is Angel, it’s a four minute walk to get here. Opened as George IV in 1824, The Angelic was renamed after the film The Angelic Conversation, directed by Derek Jarman who lived opposite the pub during the 1960s. This striking pub would have had five internal divisions, as suggested by the numerous external doors. This is a bright and airy good sized pub which thankfully retains some original features like the beautiful fireplace. The main bar is laid out in a ‘C’ shape around a bold blue servery which has a stunning back bar. There are large windows spanning three walls which flood the pub with light, if you look around the top of the walls you will see the original Victorian ceramic frieze. The seating consists of rustic tables and chairs plus comfy booths and benches. If you head upstairs you’ll find another bar that is used as a function room. It’s a cosy, comfortable drinking space that comes with plenty of candle-lit tables and a mural on the ceiling. If you need the loo, you have to descend town a spiral staircase which has, yes you guessed it, a water feature at the bottom. The beer line up will please most, there is a selection of popular keg, revolving craft and cask ales to choose from. I opted for an Amstel, my pint was decent, price point was average. The food menu is classic pub grub plus Roasts on a Sunday, Fish & Chips costs £17. We arrived around 6pm on a Saturday evening in October. The pub was packed with a predominantly younger crowd and had a vibrant buzzy upbeat atmosphere. The service was on point, although it was busy, we didn’t have to wait long to be served. This pub shows Live Football, hosts Comedy Nights upstairs, DJ nights and offers various drinks promotions through the week. This is a very eye catching boozer that easily draws you in. I loved the original Victorian features and the buzzy vibe about the place. @theangelicislington.uk is a good all-rounder that is well worth a visit. ℹ️ Info correct on 14.10.23

5 Star Rating Superb proper pub. Excellent drink choice. And the food was outstanding. Thank you to the staff for the warm welcome. If you are in the area definitely give it a go.

5 Star Rating Quaint pub with character! Loved the rustic decor, and the craft beer selection was a pleasant surprise. Plus, catching the game on their big screen made the night even more enjoyable. Can't wait to return!
