5 Star Rating It was for my husband's birthday with a couple friends. The atmosphere was perfect, light music at the background and pleasant chattering. The food was impressive, even the most unassuming chicken soup was packed with flavour. The rissotto was also very delicious, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Everything on the menu was so appealing the group had a bit of difficulty to choose. I personally like a menu with plenty of seafood selection and Frederick's fits the bill. Because it was a birthday, they brought out a candle on an ice cream, this was not rehearsed (they asked the reason of occasion on the booking form and I just answered) and I am glad they did it this way and everything was seamless & effortless. The whole group was very happy and would be more than happy to return again to try other things on the menu.

5 Star Rating Delightful experience! From outside I thought I was going to enter a very old and antique place but the moment you enter the establishment you see some amazing decor with sublime art and decor. The food is incredible, with a good mix of options but most importantly enough for every palate. Good vegetarian options from starters to dessert! Highly recommend this place if you love good service and customer experience and too notch curated food.

4 Star Rating I have been to Fredericks a number of times and have always been impressed. It is a very tastefully designed minimalist modern British restaurant with great food and great service. The staff are knowledgeable, accommodating and very helpful. On this occasion I started with a salmon and avocado tartare which was Japanese inspired and tasted fabulous. I followed that up with a salmon en croute, roast vegetables and broccoli. The salmon en croute was really good ; crispy pastry, juicy well cooked fish with just the right amount of bechamel sauce. I finished with a creme brulle and a double expresso. The creme brulle was rich and creamy and the expresso strong but not bitter. Fredericks is a bit pricey but it is well worth it IMHO. I would definitely go back if I am in the area and very much enjoyed my meal.

5 Star Rating I was faced with quite a challenge of finding a place to eat for three generations. My grandparents are not much for novelties, unlike me and my partner, my sister is vegetarian and my parents sometimes feel adventurous, but often stick with what they know they like. Fredrick’s turned out to be right in the middle - enough classics, but also some of more interesting combinations. We all ended up enjoying the meal. Between all of us we had fish, steak, duck, lamb, tofu and chicken and there wasn’t a crumb left on any of the plates! I really appreciated how seasonal the menu felt - lots of root vegetables, beans, kale and lentils. Even desserts were very autumnal! Overall - if you’re looking for a culinary extravaganza, that might not be the right place for the occasion. However, the cooking is great, the ingredients are fantastic - what’s more to like? The menu allows everybody to choose something they will enjoy. Not everything in the world needs to be a sensory overload. I felt like the prices weren’t too overboard for what was on the plate. Sure - it’s on the slightly higher end of prices than some of the other places in Islington, but I genuinely feel that the product deserves it. I especially enjoyed my starter of scallops with onion purée and lentils - really nice combo! Finally no peas and lardons on my scallops! :) Also the fig and almond tart with cinnamon ice cream! That was heaven. The recommended wine pairing wasn’t available, but I got offered something that I can’t remember anymore that was so so so delicious with that dessert. It was just perfectly harmonious experience. Thank you Fredrick’s Team!

4 Star Rating I was tempted to give the food a 4 because of the limited vegan options. But that wouldn’t be fair as it’s not a vegan restaurant and there are sufficient options. Besides the taste and quality is excellent as well as super filling. This was my first time and the staff were great at explaining the process and options. It is fun and reassuring to watch them prepare your meal and be asked what you want included; an anxious vegans’ dream. The decor is super colourful and fun. My only critique of the atmosphere was the music was really loud; which was a little much during the day while the restaurant wasn’t full. Great Latin vibe though. A fantastic experience and I will come again.

5 Star Rating Great place to have tasty burritos. We have been going for many years and have never been disappointed. Food is tasty and quite fresh due to so much demand, plenty of seating, staff is helpful, and music adds to the chill out atmosphere. Its quite easy to get to given the tube and bus stations nearby. There's also a mall with cinema right next to this place for spending more time in the area.

2 Star Rating I don't know if I went at a bad time or what happened, but I was so disappointed with the food here. I lived in Mexico and this is not what tacos are. I should have known when the woman behind the counter took out HUGE flour tortillas to make the tacos - if they were out of taco tortillas why didn't they just say? The place could really use some finesse to make it truly chilango, for example chopping the Cilantro and not just putting huge sprigs on the tacos. I asked for Pico de gallo on mine and they poured a load of the liquid on it at well meaning they fell apart instantly. Overall the taste was okay but these are not authentic and they could literally just put a few more minutes into incredient prep and teaching them how to serve properly.

Price is also very reasonable for London, would definitely recommend. Note that some items aren't always available like oysters and uni so worth double checking before going if that is what you're after.

5 Star Rating I want to start with the lovely staff! They were very helpful about deciding on our order and made great choices. We started with rock shrimp tempura. Definitely recommended especially due to its slightly spicy mayo sauce. We also tried rainbow, crunchy tuna roll and dragon eye. If I would rate them, I would put crunchy on top, then, rainbow, then dragon but they were all amazing. And the prices are great for this quality. Also, we went on a weekday around 7 pm without reservation and we were able to find a table.

4 Star Rating Came here for an impromptu lunch with friends. It wasn't very busy at all so getting a table for 3 was quick. Staff were friendly and service was relatively quick. Food also came out fairly quickly. The portions are quite big which reflects the prices as it's not that cheap. I ordered the prawn kari which was nice. Not sure how authentic the dishes are, so wouldn't necessarily recommend if you're looking for very authentic Asian food.

5 Star Rating I’ve come to banana tree Islington a couple times, since it’s close to my university, but yesterday we truly had the most wonderful experience. Being hosted my Ahmed was such a pleasure, he was so welcoming and kind to us throughout our dining experience. Ahmed genuinely made our visit all the more enjoyable due to his exceptional hospitality. The food was phenomenal as well, packed with lots of flavour, leaving us very satisfied. All of the meat is halal, which is a huge bonus. I personally recommend the sweet and sour chicken. Definitely going to become a regular customer.

5 Star Rating I was here with my work colleagues for Christmas lunch. Ahmed took care of all our needs and explained how the menu works. Food was great and service too, I would have given 5 stars but because of the seating I’ve given 4 stars. We were a group of 5 and 3 of us sat on the long bench which was quite uncomfortable, the benches could do with some cushions.

4 Star Rating Always love a tortilla burrito, the beef is delicious and worth the extra £. Went after seeing their £2.50 happy hour 5-8pm every day (I think just for summer tho). Generous frozen marg, delicious burrito. Service was average, the woman/manager who served us was clearly hating life. Felt sorry for the trainee girl with her (who made us 2 great burritos with supervision!) as didn’t seem like a particularly positive working environment, but who knows. FYI the happy hour is only when you buy food with it. And sign up to their newsletter for a free burrito on your birthday!

4 Star Rating There's something about this place, maybe the vibe or the people who run it. I have always loved coming here for the tortilla. Although I genuinely believe food quality can improve but they definitely have a culture of service which I admire. For ex today I had a tough day at work and their manager Ash had a chat with us and it felt it's okay. I think it's quality of people like Ash that I'd come here again. World needs more people like Ash and more brands like Tortilla for the culture they have built!

Menu keeps evolving to meet every budget and the range of products means there is something for everyone at any time of day! I personally love the great value drinks (gives pricier merchants a run for their money any time!) and sandwiches , which I somehow manage to add to all my orders! The points scheme is also fabulous and those points quickly add up to genuine freebies from the menu - but please add the option to buy a larger or sandwich with points 🙏

2 Star Rating Most of the staff are quite friendly and efficient. But the upstairs is super dirty all the time. Tables are left with used coffee cups and food packaging for more than an hour. So most customers, including myself, have to sit with dirty tables. The floors, crevices and the glass paneling are filthy. Every surface that is visible from the upstairs mezzanine is covered in dust, food debris or dead insects. And guess what, I complained about this to corporate and they said they will communicate this to the management team. One week later I visit this branch again and nothing has improved - actually it looked worse! Shocking, terrible British customer service once again. Hospitality in England is terrible and progressively getting worse. Sad times.

4 Star Rating I like this ‘tardis’ Starbucks, it’s one of my local Starbucks. It has a stimulating atmosphere and upstairs there are a lot of seats and space and people sit there for a long time. There are lots of plug sockets upstairs if you want to plug in your laptop or charge your phone. The staff are pleasant and cheerful. There are more comfortable seats upstairs than downstairs and they have a few seats outside if you want some fresh air. It is much bigger inside than it looks from the outside. The only snag is that you need to watch the step upstairs, I’ve been caught outside a few times. Also, watch the stairs because they are very steep, I’ve seen a young lady fall down those stairs. There are toilets upstairs but you will need a combination to use them.

5 Star Rating I’ve been going here on and off for years they Ramen has probably got the best stock that I’ve ever tasted. I even very cheekily asked them what their secret was in the ingredients which they only told me it takes over six hours to make. This is a family run business that is very friendly. It’s a takeaway fast food venue That everything that they do there is extremely flavoursome. On a very selfish note, it’s taking me a long time to write a review because I wanted it to be my hidden secret and not get too busy, but I’ve realised over time that that is wrong through so many other restaurants I’ve gone to that I’ve not had great food that we should all speak out for those little restaurants round the corner, hidden in little streets or markets that food is outstanding .
