Great service! The staff was super nice and professional. Spacious, clean and quite rooms. They even sent a cake and balloons to the room for our daughter birthday. Our AC was not working properly the first day but they responded very well. The location is so good that we barely had to deal with taxis. Excellent for the price.
Thank you

Dinner at the hotel was a true highlight of my stay. The menu offered a great selection of well-prepared dishes, beautifully presented and full of flavor. From starters to dessert, everything was delicious and thoughtfully crafted.
What really stood out, however, was the exceptional service from the waiters. They were not only professional and efficient, but also genuinely warm and attentive. They anticipated needs without being intrusive and made sure every detail was just right. Their friendliness and care created a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere that made the meal even more enjoyable.
It’s rare to find such consistently high service across an entire team – they really made the evening feel special. A big thank-you to the staff for making every dinner a memorable experience!

Following a memorable stay last winter at The Clermont Victoria, I recently had the pleasure of returning to London and chose to stay at The Clermont Charing Cross. The experience was nothing short of exceptional.
From the moment of my arrival, travel-weary and in need of a seamless transition, I was warmly welcomed by James, whose professionalism and attentiveness immediately set the tone for a wonderful stay. Andrea provided outstanding assistance in coordinating our airport transportation—no small task given the volume of luggage from my son’s university move-out.
The entire stay was marked by excellence. The property itself is impeccably maintained, with an elegant yet inviting atmosphere. The interiors are exquisitely appointed, striking a perfect balance between sophistication and comfort. The on-site restaurant offered both a delicious menu and stunning views, making each meal an experience in itself.
The location of The Clermont Charing Cross is unparalleled—ideally situated within walking distance of many of London’s iconic landmarks, with superb access to public transport. While I thoroughly enjoyed my previous stay at The Clermont Victoria, the Charing Cross location proved to be particularly convenient for my needs on this visit.
A special commendation is due for the exceptional cleanliness and overall ambiance of the hotel. I look forward to returning to The Clermont Charing Cross on future visits to London.

Had very good pre-theatre menu here last night. Very reasonable and although limited choice of starter, main and dessert they were all excellent - salmon starter, minute steak and cheesecake. It is and impressive high ceiling.dining room inside an hotel. Our waiter was great as well.

We loved it at Boyd’s!! Had a pre-theatre dinner and bottle of wine. It’s so nice and quiet / spacious in the restaurant, the server was really attentive and friendly, the food was amazing!! (Had a salmon trio, sausage and mash and the cheesecake). All so delicious and homey/very filling. Would highly recommend!

This place is spectacular. The room is elegant, the staff delightful and the menu is superb. I would have expected £100 main dishes in a place like this but the £15-40 prices were a wonderful surprise.

Really enjoyed the meal here in a comfortable and contemporary yet still period feeling venue. Cocktails were great but a slightly limited selection. The food had great portions and was perfect in every way and the waiter was friendly and offered great menu advice.

We visited here after the theatre. Food was nice nit many people in when we were there so not much of an atmosphere. Staff were very courteous. To go to loo we had to get someone to sort the lift as hotel so not anybody could go up we had to have assistance. Overall experience was OK.

An interestingly located place. The food was fairly good. You order at the bar or through an app.
A big plus for the free tap water.
The staff mainly just bring out the food – more of a delivery role than full service – so it's actually a relief that there's no added service charge.

Stopped by for lunch. Lots of seating, friendly & accommodating staff. Ordered the halloumi to start - it was perfect. Had the Chicken BLT & Steak Sandwich for mains. Both were great!

Stopped in at Silver Cross Pub and was really impressed! The fish and chips were excellent—crispy, flavorful, and cooked just right. Portion size was generous and definitely worth the price. Great atmosphere and friendly service made it a perfect lunch stop. Would absolutely come back!

The saddest steak sandwich I've ever seen let alone eaten - it was 90% bread. Staff were polite, but a miss on food (at least this time).

A nice centrally located hotel. Staff was very helpful, more so than any other hotel we have stayed. Dining at the hotel is pretty much nonexistent, but the food was good when we tried it.
Bathroom was small and toilet area even smaller
We would stay here again. Nice hotel!

Clean and descent hotel. Standard rooms are very small. There is no fresh air since windows are locked. Air conditioning does not work properly. No mini bar/fridge in the rooms.

A lovely hotel in the heart of everything. The location is amazing! You are only a few minutes’ walk from Trafalgar, Piccadilly Circus, Chinatown and some of the best playhouses.
Our room was very clean, we had no issues, but some members in our party had a few issues with their rooms (windows and humidity mainly). I am still giving the rooms 3 stars because you can tell that the staff is hard at work fixing these minor issues and there are signs that they are renovating certain areas. The beds were comfortable, we had plenty of towels, the bathrooms were well maintained. I think that if a few things are renovated, my room rating would easily go up.
I would easily stay here again. You can’t beat this location. There were many great restaurants nearby that made it easy to go out for dinner after chilling in the room from a long afternoon of exploring.
Tubes and buses are also nearby.

We stayed here to celebrate our anniversary and unfortunately this hotel did not meet the expectations for a four star hotel. Firstly, prior to our stay, my husband had messaged ahead asking if something nice could be put in the room such as chocolates or fruit or a card to surprise me- he was told someone at the front desk would sort it for him. This did not happen, we arrived in our room to nothing which was quite surprising and disappointing considering we have stayed in other hotels and this was done without a request. Secondly, the walls are paper thin- you hear everything! We heard talking all the way down the hall at night which wasn’t great. Finally, the staff we found when checking in were friendly, the room was ok, it was clean and good for an overnight stay. The overall experience of the hotel- they do not seem to value giving clients an experience to make them want to return so if you choose to stay here, do not expect much and bring earplugs as you’ll need it!

We stopped here because of the name and are glad we did. The atmosphere is great and the staff is very friendly and helpful. We both had the fish and chips and thoroughly enjoyed them. The pub can be a bit noisy but that adds to the charm.

Want to feel like youre really in a pub? Want to really enjoy the atmosphere youre eating in? Look no further than this super adorable Sherlock Holmes themed pub. You enter straight into the bar but the steps to dining and in the right corner. As you make your way upstairs, the walls are adorned with Sherlock themed photos. The dining area provides a fairly spacious experience with amazing food. We had the beef rillett as a starter that was delicious. For entrees we ordered the fish and chips, the bacon burger, and the panko chicken each one was unique and delicious. We followed that with the sticky toffee pudding and oh my goodness it was amazing. We had a variety of drinks and all were equally delicious. This pub is kid friendly until 9pm so if you plan on bringing littles under 16, keep that in mind. We truly had an amazing experience and hope that if you give it a go - you will too!

This establishment offers a pleasant atmosphere, but Saturdays can be quite crowded. The bustling energy adds to the lively ambiance. Seating can be limited during peak times. Many visitors to the area frequent this spot. It's advisable to arrive early for a more relaxed experience.

Very cute pub in a great location! The chicken tenders were seasoned very well. Skip the Mac n Cheese though, a bit mushy and overcooked noodles.

Stopped in for a pint as I wanted to enjoy some British pub culture before I left London.
Loved the atmosphere and found it amazing how people can just take their beer out and enjoy it outside!

The perfect spot to hide from the cold and rain. Welcoming staff, fast service, where everyone seems to be having a relaxing break. My cider was tasty, and I got lucky finding a seat near the beautiful windows that dress-up the pub with some old splendor. I will need to find more time for a second visit before I leave London.

Amazing pub! Great selection of beers and ciders. This place is always packed, so be prepared to stand most of the time—but it’s totally worth it.
The staff are super knowledgeable and friendly. They kept offering different samples and took the time to explain each one, which made the experience even better.
If you’re into hard ciders, they’ve got some really good ones! Overall, it was an amazing experience—the crowd was friendly and welcoming. It didn’t take long before we were chatting and hanging out with different groups.
And best of all? The drinks are extremely affordable. Definitely one of the best happy hour experience I’ve had!

Excellent traditional pub close to Charing X and Covent Garden. Good selection of traditional draught ales, as well as the usual lagers and stouts.
Efficient, friendly bar staff - even when really busy they can cope well.
Small pavement strips out front and round back in the alley to drink outside if its a bit too claustrophobic for you; but don't stray too far with your drink otherwise you might be reprimanded!
Reasonably priced for central London with a pint typically costing £5.50 to £6.
Grumpoid Nobby - 2 months ago
Looking for a real pint of beer in central London? This is THE place to go!
A fantastic, huge selection of beers to suit every taste and served by knowledgeable staff.
Can't recommend it enough.
A real pub - not a tourist trap.
Edit... May 2023.... Still the best pub for REAL ALE in London
Edit... March 2025... Still the best pub in London.

We went there last Thursday with 50 students and ate a pizza. The room downstairs is big enough to welcome large groups of pupils. I forgot to take a picture of the chocolate cake but is was amazing! Moist and delicious!
The waitresses were very nice and helpful!
Thanks a lot for everything and the take away for the coach driver!

We experienced a rude welcome. The waitress exudes negative energy. She is unfriendly and not cheerful. The menu looks appealing, but the pizzas are not good. I’m attaching a photo. The glasses are dirty. I wouldn’t come again and wouldn’t recommend it.

I have been looking forward to dining at PizzaExpress again for a long time. I was especially excited to enjoy their gluten-free Dough Balls once more. The food was absolutely fantastic, service was amazing and the restaurant provided a nice, peaceful atmosphere to relax and enjoy the meal. It can get a bit crowded at times, but it’s not a major issue. Thank you for another pleasant experience and delicious food:-)

I wanted to try Pizza Express as I hadn't been since I was a teen and kids ate free with a adult ordering a main. It was alright overall. We did book ahead so got sat really quickly on a busy night however because it was so busy, service was a bit slow. They were alright at catering for my childs dairy allergy. However, my pizza arrived with hardly any cheese. I was mocked for asking if my son could have pineapple on his pizza (far enough Italian restaurants don't do it but I didn't think Pizza Express counted as an Italian restaurant just thought it sold all sorts food). Also thought that it was silly that the kid's drinks weren't included in the kid's meal deal.

This was a pleasant experience, yet at times I felt like I was not important.
I came in as a solo diner and was given no menu. I had to walk to the host stand and grab one myself.
At time of payment, the waiter demanded that I gave them 5 stars on Google as they needed to “up their reviews.”
However, the food was delightful and came very quickly.

I was looking for a quiet spot for meal and a cold pint after a day spent walking around London. I happened upon The Chandos outside of Covent Garden. I stopped in and was directed upstairs to the dining room. I had exceptional service from the bartender, Riley, who was quick with my drinks and very good company. The space is lovely, the food is delicious and when you need a little respite from the crowds and chaos, go here. You’ll be so glad you did! The fish and chips are wonderful and the organic wheat beer from Sam Adam’s hit the spot!

Being coming for a long time. Love having a drink here. Beautiful place located just off Trafalgar Square. Came for some food. Told we had to go upstairs for food, as opposed to previous visits where we'd eaten downstairs, but fair enough. Service very good. Good was good but a little small considering how much it costs. Went for fish and chips, had 10 chips. Wasn't great, especially for the price which was high. Slightly disappointed.

Had a lovely meal and some drinks upstairs at the Chandos. The restaurant was beautiful, and had a traditional charm we appreciated as it was our first time in London. Service was great, and there wasn’t a long wait for food. I definitely recommend trying the sausages and mash, and a pint of the traditional cask ale! Would love to come back one day.
