3 Star Rating We had a mixed experience here on Sunday 21st Sept. It was a Downton Abbey themed night with 3 lovely ladies singing swing music and with some diners dressed for the occasion. Our waiter, Francesco was very professional and also very apologetic on several occasions for the following reasons: 1. The Downton Abbey fixed menu offered a choice of around 5 mains and we both choose the truffle stuffed chicken but unfortunately we were informed there was only one left. Surprising considering our dining time was still early at 6pm! 2. Despite the fact that I had informed the restaurant that this occasion was a birthday occasion, no effort was made to mark this during our entire time we dined at the restaurant. 3. We chose to go for a two course meal option, but forgo a starter and instead we requested rice balls and olives to nibble on whilst we waited for our mains. We waited patiently as we could see that the service was taken some while, and the restaurant was beginning to get rather busy. However, our mains turned up and our nibbles didn’t turn up at all, so we mentioned this to our waiter, who apologised and said that these would be on him. However, only the rice balls emerged halfway through our main meal. Also we were given warm bread but by the time we got the butter, it was not so warm. 4. Before our mains turned up, we ordered our second round of cocktails. These didn’t turn up until we actually finished our mains and was getting towards the end of our meal. 5. With our main meal, we ordered cream spinach, broccoli, and mashed potato. When the main dishes turned up the cream spinach was missing. We mentioned this to our waiter and he said it was coming soon. Halfway for our meal it still hadn’t come so we mentioned it again and then shortly after it did turn up and he advised us that this too would be on him. 6. We had plans to go onto after the meal and we needed to really leave there by 7:30 pm possibly 7:45 pm the latest but unfortunately due to the slow service and we had to wait then for our desert, and the second lot of cocktails, we didn’t leave the establishment until 8:15 pm which meant we would rather late for our next event. Would we return again is the question? it’s a maybe from us as the food was nice and we did leave feeling very full. The bill was reduced somewhat by at least £50 due to various deductions by our waiter. The service fee of 13.5% is automatically added to the bill which is just as well because I don’t think we would’ve tipped that generously otherwise. I was very disappointed with the service as I wanted this to be a very special night for my partner for his birthday and left the restaurant feeling that was not the case.

5 Star Rating Stylish, elegant and cozy art deco style restaurant with high quality and comfortably furnished seating, gourmet food and friendly service. It's recommended to book a table here in advance, as it's quite a popular place in a really active part of London. Especially recommend the tuna tartare, which is not only delicious, but also presented in an inventive way. Great experience and a pleasant time spent!

3 Star Rating Beautiful atmosphere with an elegant 1920s vibe—truly stunning setting. The food was delicious, but unfortunately the service didn’t match the experience. We didn’t feel very welcomed, were rushed to order, and our server was quite inattentive. Every table around us received bread before their meals, but we didn’t. Our food took about 40 minutes to arrive, and basic condiments for the chips weren’t offered. Drink refills came after we had finished eating. With the right service, I’m sure our experience would’ve been much better.

5 Star Rating The Original Ivy, West End is in a great location for theater goers! Rather busy on a Monday night. Service is fast. I had the zucchini fries and the vegetable risotto which I loved. For dessert, I had the truffles which were rich and decadent! The bar menu is inventive and filled with many great cocktails. Like most London restaurants, this one is small but feels much more cozy and comfortable than others.

5 Star Rating The Original Ivy in the West End was a treat. Our Italian waiter was fantastic – attentive and genuinely friendly, making the whole experience better. The food was delicious. The Shepherd's Pie was rich and comforting with melt-in-your-mouth lamb and a perfect potato topping. The fish and chips were spot on – fresh, flaky haddock in crispy batter with great chips. Even the Ivy Burger was impressive, a juicy and flavorful classic. The atmosphere is cozy and elegant, definitely a lovely spot for a special meal for decent prices. Highly recommended.

5 Star Rating Ahhhh, it had been 6 long years since our prior visit to UK (thanks covid...), and we had greatly missed Hawksmoor Seven Dials, our staple in our London trips. To no surprise, the dinner experience did not disappoint. It was great to see the venue interior unchanged, as well as the welcoming and pleasant atmosphere created by the staff. The food: simply superb. Our starter was the Hawksmoor smoked salmon. The salmon (delivered exclusively to Hawksmoor) was just divine, on par with the best salmon we have ever had (the other place is Rick's The Seafood Restaurant). There should be songs written about that salmon! The tasty Guinness bread works perfectly with the salmon. Our regular for the main course is the fillet, this time only the 275 gram ones - wish we had had space for more! The fillet was as good as ever at Hawksmoor Seven Dials - the best steak we have ever had (quite many times...). The accompanying (and our regular) choices - the just perfect peppercorn sauce, the creamed spinach, the baked sweet potato, the heritage tomatoes - complemented and perfected the main course. The dessert: as always, the sticky toffee pudding. Unchanged and awesome. The three courses we had with wines recommended by our nice and knowledgeable waiter, Teilo: Grüner Veltliner with the salmon, Pulenta Hawksmoor with the steaks, and Lustau East India with the stickies - all worked very well with the food. With too many of our London regulars unfortunately having sacrificed the quality, it was so great to see that Hawksmoor has not compromised on anything, whether it be the ingredients, the end product, the level of service, or the staff. It is actually perplexing how Hawksmoor has been able to attract staff that keeps on delivering the same unchanged pleasant trademark Hawksmoor experience. Hawksmoor Seven Dials is what a truly great restaurant experience is: superb food in very nice surroundings, with stellar staff. Oh Hawksmoor Seven Dials, we miss you so much already!

4 Star Rating Hawksmoor Seven Dials is just a short walk from Covent Garden tube station, on the corner just past Pineapple Dance Studio and the soon-to-open Guinness bar. The front desk staff were a little cold (unfortunately as their main job is to welcome people in!) but our main server, Amanda, was lovely. She outlined what was available when we explained that we would, ideally, like to share a really juicy steak. She recommended prime rib, which at around 1kg (and a cost of 130 pounds) was more than enough for the three of us. She recommended medium rare to bring out the flavour of the fat and I have to say it was prepared perfectly. The meat was high quality and truly delicious - perhaps the best steak we've had in London so far though we haven't visited super high end places like Smith & Wollensky. It wasn't as good as Japanese wagyu that we've had in Asia but it was really good. We ordered bone marrow & onions with Amanda giving us some extra bread, which was delicious. The garlic mushrooms were among the best we've ever had - the seasoning was extraordinary. Perhaps the fries could have been a bit more generous considering that we ordered a sharing steak. The one disappointment was the drinks. They had some specials on offer that were priced very affordably but they tasted little more than funky fruit juice while the bloody mary that I ordered was remarkably small and watery given the price of 13.75 pounds.

5 Star Rating We ate here on 9 October 2025. When we come back to London, this will be a regular stopping place. We split the smaller ribeye steak. The meat was absolutely delicious!! It was very tender & cooked perfectly. We had the sourdough & butter before our meal, then each had a butter & herb salad & I had the buttered spring potatoes. We split the upside down apple & almond cake. We switched the sour cream ice cream for the caramel ice cream. We were not as impressed with the dessert & probably won't order it again. We were there an hour & a half, so this is not the place to go if you're on a tight schedule. We did book reservations, to make sure we could get in.

5 Star Rating Uplifting evening, exquisite dinner at Hawksmoor Seven dials. On order was the delectable surf and turf. Generous portions of succulent lobster and steak. The second main course was the mouth-watering chateaubriand. Both dishes were shared. Another sublime culinary masterpiece; steak cooked to perfection. Dessert was the ever-so-popular sticky toffee pudding with ice cream. Fantastic food and service, and the best company one could have.

2 Star Rating Service was great here. Additionally, the appetizers were pretty solid, as were the drinks. I will say that the salmon appetizer was cumbersome to get through with how hard the cheese ball was to spread on the much-too-thin rye; the over-elevation of caesar salads with full romaine leaves is a trend that needs to stop as well, but that may be more of a personal preference, and I was at least happy that it was well dressed and the dressing was good. The meal itself, on the other hand, was a major let-down, especially given the cost. The mac and cheese saved the experience in all honestly. The creamed spinach was watery and flavorless, so much so that even salt didn't do much to make it palatable (and to be clear, we like spinach; this wasn't our first creamed spinach rodeo, so-to-speak). As an American, obviously my standards are different than the average English visitor to the restaurant. With that, we found the steak's lack of marinade, or even some seasoning, very frustrating given the price point. This was meant to be a dat-night for us, and we left scratching our heads a bit; we've been to fast-casual places in the states with better steak as a third of the cost, and we couldn't quite wrap our minds around the audacity of the prices here. All that said, other customers seemed happy with their experience here, and we were happy for them because of it; for us, however, it all fell flat and we left feeling overcharged for subpar food and hope not to be back.

5 Star Rating We had a wonderful evening at Rules. We started in the conservatory with cocktails which we chose from a wide and unusual selection. They also gave us a jar of delicious nuts to eat with the cocktails. Then we had dinner. The food was superb. I started with Carmarthen Ham with grilled apricots and my wife had watercress salad. For the main course I had steak and kidney pudding (with an oyster on top) and she had roast lamb. For dessert we both had summer pudding which was fabulous. There was also an extensive wine list. The ambience was just what you would expect from London's oldest restaurant. All the staff were attentive and pleasant and happy to talk. It was an expensive evening, but we thought it was worth the money.

5 Star Rating I have visited this restaurant every time I visit London and it represents British dining in a traditional way that few can. The fact that it’s been in operation since 1798 speaks volumes. Anytime is a good time but I especially enjoy the grouse season in late fall early winter. They also serve an excellent roast beef plate for two people - superb. Service is very high - shout out for Sam (bar manager) and Albert (manager I think). The level of service is very good and I have found that they are professional and attentive. They have a nice wine list, and well thought out cocktail menu. The food menu is limited but very good as a representation of traditional British dishes. The ambience is nothing short of historical and full of stories. Highly recommend this place for a long leisurely lunch or dinner. Best to make a reservation but they do accept walking if available. Just visited again (Aug.2025) - always great and good to see some familiar faces (thanks Albert and Sam for your wonderful service). It’s grouse season - my favorite and some of the best I have ever tasted. A must if you’re in London!!!

2 Star Rating We went there because apparently they have awards for best margaritas in London... Well let me tell you that it's all loads of crap. If you call that best margaritas then you haven't tasted nice ones at all. Food was below average to say the least, look like a loads of bloob on a plate. One of our friends got diarrhoea after eating that. At least portions were decent. Atmosphere is more like a train station canteen than a Covent Garden restaurant. 5 Star Rating An Unforgettable Experience at Clos Maggiore From the moment I stepped into Clos Maggiore, I was transported into a warm, elegant atmosphere that felt both romantic and welcoming. What truly made the evening exceptional, however, was the outstanding service. Dennis, our waiter, was absolutely phenomenal — incredibly knowledgeable about every dish on the menu. His explanations were detailed, insightful, and even fun, which added a whole new dimension to the meal. He clearly has a real passion for what he does, and it shows. Valerie also made us feel so welcome from the start. Her warmth and attentiveness added a lovely personal touch to the entire experience. 5 Star Rating A modern restaurant in a great central location serving excellent quality Indian dishes. Pretty huge menu can be quite overwhelming but does offer plenty of choice. Fantastic curries including mutton which was excellent and monkfish as well as the classic Chicken Ruby. The Biryani was great with a jackfruit option for the non meat eaters and the black daal was amazing! Some excellent drink options too with refreshing lassis, trendy cocktails and the classic Kingfisher beer and Thums Up Asian cola. Would recommend booking in advance as gets very busy with queues often spanning round the block. Service can be touch and go particularly during busy periods where you’re often fighting to get someone’s attention but overall a great experience with delicious food.

4 Star Rating Dishoom doesn’t need a critical review. It’s buzzing like the AI boom. Always has a line out the door, especially this original location. They dine you fast so don’t be discouraged by the long lines. We walked in on a busy Saturday evening & managed to snag a table in 30 mins. The vibe of the restaurant is electric, two floors packed with customers & waiters running around harmoniously. It’s really a well run restaurant with top customer service. The menu is intriguing & drool worthy. We tried a bunch of the things - pav bhaji, house chaat, chicken ruby, garlic naan & Kashmiri Chili ice cream. All taste good, but not out of this world good. They do the nail that Bombay Irani cafe vibe & overall it’s a crowd pleaser of a place. Dishoom is an impressive place to visit but isn’t necessarily a memorable one. Again, it doesn’t need this critique as it does a commendable job and it’s gonna thrive for years to come.

5 Star Rating A Hidden Gem Full of Character! We had a fantastic time at The Porterhouse – a truly unique and atmospheric pub! It’s deceptively large, with loads of nooks and crannies to explore, spread over three levels (basement, ground floor, and upper level). The industrial charm is everywhere, with exposed copper pipes adding to the quirky and distinctive vibe. There’s a great mix of seating areas, perfect for small groups or a more intimate drink, and both the indoor and outdoor spaces are well thought out. The selection of beers is excellent, with something for every taste, and the live music added a brilliant energy to the evening. If you’re in the area and looking for a lively, character-filled spot to enjoy a pint, I’d highly recommend The Porterhouse. A real find!

5 Star Rating Best pub in London ever! Due to good reviews, I decided to have lunch at The Porterhouse in Covent Garden, my favourite district in London. Pub is huge and there is live music in evenings. They have a wide selection of beer, included craft beer; I described my favourite beer and waiter suggested a beer I really appreciated. I had fish and chips for lunch: good taste and sauces were fantastic (the yellow one, in particular). Most important thing: it's not the usual pub for tourists. I recommend this pub and I look forward to visiting The Porterhouse again.

4 Star Rating Good Pub that is much bigger inside than it appears from the outside. Lots of spaces on different levels to find, from bigger tables for groups until small niches for a couple. Depending on the number of guests, not all areas are accessible. Really nice, but You have to be lucky to catch a free seat: outside area, which is lovely during summer and the big umbrellas should also keep away the worst on a rainy day. Good choice of beers, mostly regional, nice menu with burgers & co. Take the time to walk around on the right side to have a view at the amazing windows

4 Star Rating Different type of pub that is a great place for a pint while exploring Covent Garden. It was established as the London showcase for the Porterhouse brewery, which continues to be family- owned and operated. The pub is located on Maiden Lane, on the site where the famous painter J.M.W. Turner was born in 1775.

5 Star Rating I'm not sure why, but I genuinely believe these are the best classic burgers around. There's also a great selection of beers, which makes it such a delightful place to keep coming back to. I really enjoy my visits here!

5 Star Rating We quite enjoyed our lunch here! I had the steak and ale pie and it was very good! My parents both had fish and chips and were very pleased! We had a round of drinks, and enjoyed our lunch! Very classic British pub. It was very busy and service was a tad bit slow, but it was understandable due to the lunch rush. The bartenders were efficient and quick. Great spot for an easy and good meal!

5 Star Rating THE go too pub when you're in the Convent Garden area. Victorian pub on former prize-fighting site, with original etched glass and carved mahogany decor throughout. Also the spot spot where Richard & Liz got engaged...again. Outdoor seating in summer, Dancing area and ample seating inside too. Victorian decor on the walls styled with art nouveau, dark green facade to the mirrors surrounding the dining area. It's a family-friendly & dog-friendly pub, with a small beer garden to the side. Horse shoe-shaped bar with seating around it Pub is 3 minutes from Leicester Square Underground Station. Food menu is classic Greene King, and service is excellent. Big shout out to Alice, and especially Levi who took care of us through our time there. We booked a table ahead of us arriving, which is always advisable at weekends. Atmosphere was vibrant, pub was very clean and extremely well managed (well done Levi ✅ ) Try the Margarita cocktails as they're pretty decent too. Toilets for those that like to know, are downstairs and clean too. Plenty of charging points for your phone throughout the pub. Staffing numbers were well proportioned and waiting time was minimal. Plenty of famous patrons regularly frequent the pub too. Definitely a must visit whilst you're in the area. You won't be disappointed.

5 Star Rating We came for Sunday roast and weren’t disappointed. The service by a lovely waitress was 11/10, very accommodating. The beef was just fine but all the other vegetables were so well made and seasoned, so tasty. Recommend a lot.

5 Star Rating A really great pub, fantastic dining room and good quality food although it was incredibly expensive. Fantastic service from the waitress Levi, she was assertive and eager when I asked for recommendations, and her down to earth vibe really made the meal great. £46 for a meal a dessert and 2 drinks did hit the wallet hard, but for atmosphere and service alone, I have to recommend.

4 Star Rating Nice pub in theatre district. We went for lunch pre theatre but it was very busy and we had to leave before the food was ready. We got a full refund and a complementary round of drinks with no fuss. Would recommend
