Great historic old London boozer. Worth a stop for a pint or 2. Good pint of spitfire even tried the spitfire larger! Check opening times as its closed on weekends.

Very good Shepherd Neame pub in the City of London about five minutes walk from Moorgate Station. Three cask beers on handpump when I visited. Pretty busy on a Monday evening.

The pub in itself is a great dive! Stunning old pub with lovely features great beers and plenty of people to enjoy them! Upstairs is the lovely more peaceful restaurant where we had the most delicious dinner. Really impressed with both the burger and the sage and prosciutto chicken which was frankly the best I've had of that kind for a long time. Gather there is a new chef...well... Cooking at that level with that quality of ingredients is just exceptional. Service was very good too. Will absolutely come back.

We had a great experience at the restaurant. Jessica was an excellent server — very friendly, attentive, and professional. She helped us choose a bottle of wine, and her recommendation was perfect. The wine was excellent and made our evening even more enjoyable. Thank you, Jessica, for the wonderful service!

Amazing restaurant has the rump steak and prawns for starter was exceptional. Also a special mention to such an amazing waitress Rossella really made our first time here and will be back. Beautiful service and amazing food. Very very happy thanks Gaucho's

For the price point, this was a disappointing experience. On a Friday night, the restaurant felt short-staffed. The food was mediocre: all the steaks were over-seasoned, two arrived cold, and the chips were so salty they were inedible.
The wrong sides were brought to the table, and although staff said they would be removed from the bill, they still appeared at the end. The steak knives were poor quality and struggled to cut through a marinated steak that I should have been able to cut with a butter knife.
Drinks were slow to arrive every time we ordered. Service missed many basics: clearing plates, pouring wine, checking in on the table, and serving in a timely manner. Instead, staff were often seen talking among themselves.
My last visit to this Gaucho was ten years ago. I had hoped for improvement, but it was average then and remains average now. The only positives were the warm greeting on entry, the farewell and cocktails.

I cannot rave enough about this Restaurant & Bar. The staff were welcoming and got all 10 of us sorted with drinks as soon as we arrived. After approx 20 minutes we were shown to our table. Wow, what an amazingly decorated underground restaurant. Our host was Miri, who was fantastic from the first encounter until we all left. Excellent advice on starters and drinks. The starters came very quickly and everyone was impressed with both the quality and the serving size. The wine selection was very special and we choose wonderful Red that complemented the Steak perfectly.
The mains & sides were brought out and everyone was blown away by the quality of the food. The chips were really good, spinach was outrageously good and the tender stem broccoli was the same. The 400g Ribeye was one of the best Steaks I have ever had. I had the cheesecake (as suggested by Miri) & I was done. The whole experience from start to end was amazing.

Took my friend here for his farewell dinner in London and we had a great meal. The sirloin steak was charred on the outside and juicy in the middle, cooked exactly right. The beef dripping chips were thick‑cut, golden and addictive, while the beef dripping fries were crisp and impossible to stop picking at. The mash with gravy was smooth, buttery and comforting, and the macaroni cheese was creamy, gooey and easily the side that stole the show. Friendly service and a relaxed atmosphere made it a really nice evening.

Wonderful, wonderful steak. Pictured is the chateaubriand, cooked medium rare and absolutely delicious - the bérnaise sauce was a wonderful addition to the gorgeous texture. Service is friendly, and the setting is also very nice.

Always a safe choice when looking for a restaurant. Hawksmoor never lets you down, and I have been to alot of them.
Finally got to try the Big Matt, was nice, but now I have tried it I won't need have another. Il stick to the steak.
Service was good on the night, real good buzz for atmosphere considering it was a Tuesday.
Reliable, but never amazing.

Food is very nice, lots of Steak and dessert choice so there is something for everyone :)
Unfortunately we had to wait a while to be seated although we had a reservation, but the waiter made up for this by giving us some free food. They also forgot that we were there for a birthday so we had to remind them which felt a bit awkward.. The lighting is also a little too dim.

We visited for a family meal in October. The cocktails, wine, food was fantastic, you'll defo leave feeling full! As a vegetarian, it can be difficult in meaty places but they still offer options. My fellow guests love coming here for steak and is one of their favourites / go to. The service was exceptional, always topping up, attentive and nothing was too long of a wait. The lady that served us even advised me what I could / couldn't eat on the table as we were having sharers and even offered alternatives they could make for me which was thoughtful. Only minor thing I'd say is I'd personally prefer ice cream with the sticky toffee pudding!

I went this pub by chance, to have a wine and lunch, and the Victor staff was so generous and attentive that I've never had this in my entire life. I had a bad day this day until I got to this place and his energy changed everything with the simple and warm good afternoon. Restaurants in London need more people like him, I will definitely come back, and I hope to see him again. Thank you very much!!!

I recently had my work leaving drinks here. Patricia and the team were brilliant! From booking an area to being really helpful on the evening. Nothing was too much trouble. All of the staff are really good, and it makes a nice change to see genuinely happy staff. Thanks again, and I’ll definitely pop in for a beer when I’m next in the area👍

We hosted a client event in a corner of this pub. Food was great, though not very varied. The staff were fantastic, especially a female with dark hair - great service. Choice of drinks is adequate. The place had a good buzz, which we all enjoyed. Overall, I would recommend for a pint or even hosting a small event.

Our business drinks were a success thanks to Victor who was an absolute star! Please give him a rise, voucher, something! We will definitely be back just because of him 😊
One suggestion is to turn the music a little bit down for people to talk to each other without shouting 😂

We had two and one pint of Jubel, with their green curry and steak pie.
The beer and the meals were both awesome. Not to large, not too salty, plenty of flavor. The beer was refreshing and perfect after w day exploring London.
Brilliant service from a very friendly staff. If you see and friendly Romanian with a fantastic mustache - you're in good hands.
Music is a great play list of slick 90s memories. Atmosphere is what I would want out of any pub in the area.
Well priced, very similar to what we'd pay back home in Canada. For the same food and service.
Recommend.

Loved the whole experience, the food was themed perfectly, the whole vibe of the audience was amazing, friendly and hyped up and the 2 female staff members who were organising at the beginning had all the audience participating, yelling out answers to the quiz and laughing along. All the staff were fantastic to be honest.
Looking at the menu online I thought I would still need to go mcdonalds before heading home but I was stuffed at the end in a good way.

Went to TasteFilm to see Chef in April 2025. Was a bit difficult to find the location but once inside the atmosphere is cozy, warm and the host was really welcoming.
The quiz at the start breaks the ice and gets you in the mood for the film.
The food is AMAZING. It's small portions but you leave feeling full as the courses are spread over 2 hours. The menu is well thought out and extremely tasty. Ordering extra drinks is quick and easy with a QR code on the table. 10/10!
I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be coming back with my mum next time!

I came here for a quick lunch, and was more than impressed. authentic, healthy and high quality fast food. The past was steaming hot and delicious, and the man behind the counter was incredibly warm and friendly. In terms of fast food, superlative!

The pasta and coffee combination sounds bit awkward but that’s what I bought from Coco Di Mama and I never regretted my decision. I am all time pasta lover but coffee is something I am very particular about and here I did t get disappointed. The taste of coffee is something specially different. #vikrmn

I guess red pesto is missing in this one, kind of bland. Usually this place is ok
Chandra Sekhar - 6 years ago
I love the coffee here - it's smooth, well-rounded and flavoursome without being bitter. And it's consistently good too. The queue to pick up the coffee can be a bit haphazard and annoying, but they always get the order correct and it's worth it. The breakfast pots are tasty too - the avocado and egg pot is healthy without being dull to eat. The sourdough breakfast baguette is actually as well filled and tasty as the menu photo suggests!

Had a really great time at Balls Brothers Austin Friars. Everything just worked, good vibes, great food and a relaxed but polished atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer than planned.
Big shout-out to the manager Alberto, who honestly made the experience even better. Super attentive, really knowledgeable and genuinely professional without ever feeling stiff or overbearing. He checked in at just the right moments, gave great recommendations and made us feel properly looked after.

We hosted our work Christmas party for a group of 126 people, and it was absolutely fantastic! From the very beginning, the communication with the team was excellent—every detail was handled smoothly and efficiently.
The staff on the night were super helpful and incredibly friendly, making sure everyone felt welcome and taken care of. The three-course meal was delicious, with plenty of compliments from our team about the quality of the food.
They were also extremely accommodating when our live band arrived to set up. The space worked perfectly for both the seated dinner and the band’s performance, creating a great atmosphere for the evening.
I can’t recommend Austin Friars Balls Brothers enough for any large event or party. A huge thank you to the team for helping us create such a memorable night!

I visited this site for the first time to meet a friend and I was amazed at how friendly the staff were and especially considering it was a busy Friday night, the service was also excellent. Our food arrived quite quickly and was piping hot and tasted great. I really enjoyed the atmosphere at this location, you could see why it was so busy as it is such a nice location. Loved the decor, loved the different sections of the pub as well as we had a table booked in a little nook which gave us privacy and we didn't need to shout across the table. Fully recommend.

A busy London vibing pub opposite Liverpool Station, a trendy place to hangout for a quick drink, lounges on different levels and a private one to rent on the top floor. A great selection of beers available on the tap. Delicious smelling food you'll not be disappointed. It also hosts a nice outdoor drinking area with tables and chairs for when the weather's good

If you like loud pubs this is your perfect place. Very networky as it's in Moorgate's business area.
Youngish professionals and mid range.
Three guest ales
ales - Tribute, a Green King and Deuchars. Pressing lagers and beers, Inches Cider and Guinness.
Variety of wines. & spirits (double up on all spirits for £3)
Menu shared platters (tapas in Spain), Sharers Nachos, wings and trio of fries, burgers/ sandwiches.
I went for three shared platters - crispy smashed potatoes which were more cheesy than crispy, crispy squid(in sweet chilli sauce) and crispy battered cod goujons.
Very very nice. Three are adequate for one person.
Service is good and efficient.
Recommended.
Drinking outside - standing where it's less noisy, and crowded and cooler. Rest your glass on the window sills.

Such a beautiful little pub serving great fare in a buzzing atmosphere.
We booked a table ahead of time and ate upstairs in the restaurant. The menu was extensive with plenty of vegetarian options available (including beyond meat).
I had the steak and ale pie with mash and it was outstanding. A proper English feed.
Only knock would be the service. No one upstairs to take our order and staff didn’t want to engage with us when we asked questions. Had to go downstairs to place orders even though there was a bar up top. I think he was having a bad night.
