Reviews
I recently stayed at the Thistle London hotel and was very pleased with the food and room service experience during my visit. The hotel offered a good selection of meals both in the restaurant and via in-room dining, which I found to be tasty and well prepared overall. The restaurant staff were polite and attentive, making dining enjoyable and relaxed. Guests often mention that the quality of food and presentation was excellent, with several people especially complimenting the attentive service at meals.
What stood out most was the effort from the staff to make the dining experience welcoming – they were professional and friendly, which added a great touch to the food service. Even when the hotel was quiet, the restaurant maintained high standards of service.
In addition, the room service options were convenient, with a variety of snacks and dining choices available directly to the room — perfect after a long day of exploring London. While variety can vary between different Thistle locations, most guests appreciated having the flexibility to order meals without leaving the comfort of their room.
Overall, I would say the food and room service were a definite highlight of the stay — delicious food, courteous staff, and good service really helped enhance the overall experience at the Thistle London hotel.

Solid choice. The hotel is just 15 mins walking from Paddington in a very pleasant area of London. The rooms are decent-sized and, actually, something more for London standards. They are clean and relatively modern. Nothing to complain about. We also had breakfast at the hotel and it was very good. We will probably go there again next time we are in London.

This was the first time we had planned to stay a couple of days in the Capitol.
The hotel is n an excellent location, close to absolutely everything you can think of (Restaurants, shops, underground stations etc.)
The staff at Thistle Hotel Hyde Park are excellent. Nothing was too much to ask.
The onsite restaurant was also very good, lovely breakfasts with large variety of food available.
The rooms were adequate however there is very little cupboard space (Hanging) and no draws available.
Rooms are comfortable and everything worked as expected.

Very concomitantly located, good rooms with Kensington Garden view. staff is very efficient, helpful and friendly. Farhan and Jo at reception made my early check in smooth. Sarika and Nitin at restaurant were happily serving breakfast. Thomas Kutty helped with luggage storage and check out, I am really thankful to them. The best thing about this hotel is its staff.

Four seasons🦆
Roasted Duck: Actually life-changing. It’s giving super juicy energy and the meat is so tender it’s basically butter. The softness? Incredible.
Crispy Pork: The crunch is a jumpstart for the soul. We’re talking majorly crispy skin and that "good smell" pork that just hits different.

A Faded Legend? 💔 A Disappointing Return to Four Seasons (London)
I was incredibly excited to return to Four Seasons. I last visited in 2011 and had wonderful memories of what was, at the time, one of the best Chinese restaurants I’d experienced. 🗓️
Fast forward to 2025, I came back hoping for that same magical meal. Unfortunately, this visit was a significant letdown. The restaurant I remembered seems to be gone, and based on this meal, I can only give it 3 stars. ⭐⭐⭐
Here is a breakdown of what we ordered:
🍽️ The Food: A Rollercoaster of Hits and Misses
* Szechuan Soup: We started with this, and it was just... average. Completely middle-of-the-road. Not bad, but not memorable.
* Scallops (Steamed & Baked with Vermicelli): 🌟 This was the absolute best dish of the night! The scallops were incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and tasted fantastic with a bit of chili and soy sauce. A solid 4.5/5 stars for this dish.
* The Famous "Barbecue Meats" Platter: This is where things really fell apart.
* Crispy Pork (Siu Yuk): 👎 This was terrible. A 1-star dish, easily. The skin was tough and chewy (เหนียว), not crispy at all. The meat itself was hard and tasted almost burnt. A complete failure for such a classic.
* Roasted Pork (Char Siu): Thankfully, the Char Siu was much better. It had a good, sweet, smoky flavor. 4/5 stars for this component.
* Roasted Duck: 🦆 This is what Four Seasons is legendary for, and it was the biggest disappointment. The duck I remember from 2011 was juicy, the skin was fragrant, and the meat was tender. The duck we had today was just... average. Honestly, many restaurants in Asia do it better. It has completely lost its "wow" factor.
* Fried Squid & Stir-fried Prawns with Vegetables: 🍤 Similar to the soup, these dishes were just okay. Entirely forgettable and nothing special.
⚖️ Final Verdict
Overall, this was a deeply disappointing meal. 😔
When you consider the legendary reputation and the premium prices they charge, the food quality is simply not justifiable. While the Scallops and Char Siu were good, the failures (especially the awful Crispy Pork and the mediocre famous Duck) were too significant to ignore.
It breaks my heart to say it, but this legend seems to have lost its shine. 3 stars is all I can give.

Definitely one of the best Chinese restaurant experiences I’ve had. The food was absolutely excellent - every dish was cooked to perfection and incredibly tender, literally melting in your mouth. (I’m allergic to tough food, so this was a huge plus for me!) The staff were also very kind and friendly.
I should definitely go back again and try every dish. Thank you for the great night!

Fair prices, delicious food! 🦆🍖
We had 2x wonton soup, BBQ meat on rice and fried rice beef. (£45)
The duck was tender and juicy. Recommend.

I’ve been to this restaurant countless time for roast duck and rice with a chrysanthemum tea whenever I’m in the area and it’s delicious. The duck is always tasty, meaty and well cooked and the service is great. Highly recommended!

I feel like 3 stars - right in the middle - is the best score we can give for our experience in Halepi. Although we overall enjoyed the Cypriot food served here, our expectations were much higher. So, unfortunately we think this place is overhyped. Due to this, the prices are rather high too. We’ve tried the salad with rusks, which we enjoyed and had very fresh tomatoes. The melizanosalata was ok - a bit unsalted/ generally lacked some taste. The Greek sausages and cheese were nice but nothing exceptional. We shared the mixed grilled meats and rice as a main and we liked the grilled taste to it, but again, some meats were a bit tough and nothing special. The rice was quite plain too. Our favourite item was probably the dessert, which however could have been better if it was left to soak in the syrup for longer, the true Greek and Cypriot way, while some parts had a nice taste to them and others didn’t. Our total with tip and service charge was almost £90 (no drinks).
So yeah, as I said, nice but below expectations.

My family and I’s favourite restaurant in London since we discovered it in 2022. By far the best food, service and ambiance! Reli is always so kind and he gave us a complimentary tzatziki (my favourite dish of all time). Everyone there is always so welcoming and attentive and the food is better each time we go! My dad and brothers love lamb and they say it’s the best place to go if you’re a lamb lover like them. Highly suggest booking as if you go without one most likely you won’t be able to be seated as it’s so busy. Will never not recommend Halepi to anyone visiting London 10/10

We had walked past this restaurant several times and it always seemed to be full, no matter the day. We decided to stop by without a reservation, and the woman who greeted us kindly managed to find us a drop-in table for about an hour.
The place is a bit cramped, but it has a cozy and welcoming, family-like atmosphere. The food was good and the service was decent

The food at the restaurant was exceptionally delicious, especially the meats ، truly outstanding.
We ordered hummus and dolma as starters, and both were very good.
My only complaint is that the place is quite small, which makes it hard to feel comfortable or have enough space to relax.

I was just planning to treat myself to my favourite spaghetti meatballs, and unexpectedly Emiliano made my lunch even better. I was dining by myself, and he made me feel really welcome from the moment I arrived. He was incredibly kind, had a beautiful smile, and you could genuinely feel he was going the extra mile. Very friendly, attentive, and honestly… also pretty cute 👀. The food was great too, which made the whole experience even nicer. Really appreciated his service.

Amazing experience! Special thanks to Germaine
We dropped in spontaneously without a reservation on our first day in London, and it was the perfect start to our trip. A huge thank you to Germaine, who provided exceptional service! She was so kind and patient while my mother was deciding which pizza to choose. We never felt rushed and felt truly welcome.
The pizza was delicious – the tomato sauce has a unique, wonderful aroma. Great value for money and a very cozy atmosphere. We ended up staying for quite a while just to talk and enjoy the vibe. Germaine is a fantastic asset to the team! Highly recommended.

Nice pub where the locals come to drink and visit. I loved the decor. Tables had comfortable Captains chairs and wingback chairs. Along one wall was a comfortable looking couch. The food was really good, hot and filling. Definitely recommend.

It’s no secret that tourist areas in London are very expensive, but here’s my honest advice to anyone visiting: take a bus 10–15 minutes in any direction and you’ll save money, support local businesses, and avoid the usual tourist traps.
Unfortunately, my experience at Phoenix was frustrating from the very first minute. Drinks are already overpriced for the area, but what surprised me most was the attitude toward something as simple as charging a device. This is the only pub I’ve been to in London where staff refused to charge anything for even a few minutes. I politely asked to charge my vape for 10 minutes and was told I had to pay to use their charging station—on top of the already high prices. Because of that, I ended up having to buy a new vape in the same overpriced area.
If you still choose to spend extra money here, make sure you bring your own charger or power bank. A little kindness goes a long way, and sometimes it comes back double—but sadly, that wasn’t the case here.

Really enjoyed our meal here. We were received warmly from the minute we walked in by Andrew. He was an attentive, welcoming and friendly host. Bar service was performed by Milda who served us the very last glass of mulled wine which we thoroughly enjoyed. The food was delicious, flavourful and well cooked. We could not fault the meal at all and we are grateful to the Chef manager Nadia and Corin. If you’re looking for a sunday roast, you should definitely come here.

Our second night in London and we thought we’d give this local pub a go. Cozy, authentic vibe for an English pub. Nice range of beers and a reasonably priced menu. Staff were friendly and helpful. The vintage cheddar and bacon burgers were nice and sides were well proportioned. Only downside was the chicken Kyiv which dry and tough.

Nice area, older cliental. Seems to me very much a food pub and the food I saw being served looked very good but I wouldn't describe it as good value. It's not cheap in othwords. Lots of elderly couples coming in for evening meals.
The Guinness was the best I had in the area but like most London pubs, staff need to learn how to pour it properly. The final head of the Guinness should be above the rim of the glass. The head firms up when it settles and will not overflow. Otherwise you simply get less of the actual "black stuff", Guinness.
Pints not cheap £7.50 etc etc. Other than Guinness, other pints were quite flat. Door of cubicle in gents toilet doesn't lock and lights keep going off while you are in there?
Still, a nice pub.

Popped in last night to warm up as we were walking past.
Glad we did. A very nice glass of red and a well kept pint of Landlord.
The Landlord himself was a friendly chap and chatted away to us for a while.
It very much seemed to be a food pub and what came out looked very nice.
We weren’t particularly hungry so didn’t try a meal, although we did have a tasty bowl of loaded fries.
Would definitely recommend you pop in if your in the area

We shared the Burratta, the chicken schnitzel and the apple pie crumble. All of it was so very good. The warm pudding to drizzle on the hot apple pie crumble was quite scrumptious, could have eaten a large pot of it.
Stacy Maffit - 4 months ago
Maybe because we are tourist but we didn’t feel very welcome. The service was poor and we were forgotten about a number of time: The chicken schnitzel was very very good as were the chive mashed potatoes. We finished it off with a sticky toffee pudding to finish our trip. This place is good if you are wanting something close by.

Gold Mine is honestly one of the best spots in London for roast duck. The skin is perfectly crispy while the meat stays juicy and flavorful. Hot take, but I actually think their duck is even better than Four Seasons. Every bite was rich, tender, and super satisfying.
The place itself is simple and always buzzing, which usually means the food is legit. Service is quick and efficient, and dishes come out fast. If you’re around Bayswater or Queensway and craving proper Cantonese roast duck, this spot is definitely worth it. 🦆✨

Authentic Cantonese food, we tried both the roasted duck and dim sum and are very pleased with the food, as if we had it in Hong Kong. Restaurant is very busy both for lunch and dinner, we went twice and always saw a queue. Thus also suggest high turnover and fresh food.
Lydia Chong - 5 months ago
We went for dim sum and roasted meats. The food was okay, but definitely not the best. It felt a bit overpriced, especially with a 12.5% service charge, the staff member who took our payment didn’t even say thank you. I definitely won't be going back!

We had some dim sum - prawn cheong fun, steam BBQ roast pork bun, turnip cakes and prawn + chives dumpling, roasted duck, tofu with beef mince, spinach in soup with three kinds of eggs and rice.
All was very delicious especially the Roast Duck and prawn + chives dumpling.
Fast serving, friendly and helpful staffs.

This is such a fun restaurant with wonderful, authentic food and great service every time. There's a reason why it's so popular. The set meals are great value, especially for London, and their crispy duck is a great start to the meal. Go give it a visit for sure.

I’d highly recommend this spot it was the perfect dinner for after skating across the road. I started with the wonton soup and it was perfect for a winters day not too heavy and the wontons themselves were so flavourful. One of my friends ordered the chicken and sweetcorn soup and it was so creamy and the sweetcorn flavour was delightful it was almost like a sweetcorn puree. We also started with some prawn toast which was super fresh and it even had a slight crunch from the prawns and we ordered the duck spring rolls which came with some sweet chill sauce but the prawn toast dipped in the sauce was an excellent addition. The duck rolls were super fresh and flavourful the spices paired with the duck immaculate. For mains we had the barbecued pork this is an absolute need. The pork was so tender and literally melted in the mouth we ordered some garlic pak choi and it paired excellently with the meat. The pak choi itself was seasoned to perfection I’d highly recommend this. And we also had some lemon chicken which was so succulent and the sauce was perfectly lemony and all of the chicken pieces were the perfect bite size. We also had the iced lemon tea for drinks it was super delicious not too sweet but you could definitely taste the lemon and my friend had the fruit punch which was very citrusy which she enjoyed.
We did book ahead and I would recommend in doing so as it was pretty busy and for a good reason. The restaurant was pretty and I liked the decor. The staff were super friendly and helpful I would definitely come back.

The food was underwhelming, tasting like a typical Chinese takeaway, and we found a piece of metal in one of the dishes, which ruined our appetite. Our table of eight was booked from 6:00–7:30pm; the soup arrived at 6:15pm, but the mains didn’t come until 6:50pm, leaving us rushed. While we appreciate the dessert offered after the incident, the quality, cleanliness, and service fell short of expectations. We will not be returning and also not recommend.

Absolutely wonderful restaurant. The service was top notch and food so delicious! Loved the garlic broccoli and noddles with shrimp- very fresh and flavourful. Servers were extremely attentive and the whole place had this lively & fun feel. We must come back!

I heard great things about this restaurant, especially their signature dish the lobster with noodles. Finally got a chance to try it and it was very very good. The lobster noodles with ginger and spring onion sauce was extremely delicious. I noticed almost every table in the restaurant had ordered this same dish. Shared this dish with a friend and there was plenty of lobster meat to go around. It's also very reasonably priced. Beef Ho Fun was also very good, plenty to "wok air" and was super tasty. Scallops was a good size and fresh. The soft shell crap was another delicious dish. Services was on point and very friendly.
Definitely recommend this restaurant and I'll be back very soon

What a fantastic restaurant! From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm, attentive, and absolutely brilliant. The tables are generously spaced, making it perfect for larger groups.
There were five of us, and we ordered the half aromatic crispy duck with pancakes, sweet sesame chicken, ginger and spring onion lobster with soft noodles (their signature dish - and truly incredible), mapo bean curd, and two portions of egg fried rice. Every single dish was outstanding. The flavours were rich and beautifully balanced, and we cleared every plate.
Dessert was just as impressive. The mochi ice cream selection is amazing - we chose coconut, strawberries and cream, matcha, and mango, and each one was delicious. We also shared the almond bean curd with lychee, which may honestly be one of the best desserts I’ve ever had in my life. It was light, delicately sweet, and incredibly refreshing - the perfect end to the meal. The wine was also excellent!
We had such a lovely time and I’ll absolutely be coming back. Highly recommend!

This is a restaurant inside of the Hilton Hyde Park. It serves breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. The place is decorated beautifully, and the food is tasty and good. We had a good experience here.

We visited Aubaine for brunch on a lovely day, and overall, it was a good experience. The restaurant offers a wide selection of brunch options, which made choosing a bit difficult (in a good way!). While it is on the pricier side, the cost is understandable given its prime location—just a short walk from Hyde Park, making it a great spot to stop before or after a stroll.
The atmosphere was relaxed and it wasn’t too crowded, which added to the comfort of the experience. The breakfast was fresh, and the coffee was especially enjoyable—rich in flavour and nicely presented. The staff were friendly and attentive, contributing positively to the overall vibe.
All in all, Aubaine is a very good place to enjoy brunch in London, especially on a beautiful day.
