I would definitely come back to the Thistle London Hyde Park Kensington Gardens Hotel. When we arrived we were greeted by Pelin who gave us excellent and exceptional customer service. She was able to check us in early and while we waited for our room we had coffee and pastries at the hotel’s convenient restaurant.
Our hotel room had a great view of the beautiful park, London eye, and other nice buildings. The hotel staff is very helpful and friendly. We purchased breakfast with our booking and it was worth it. The location of the hotel is great! There are good restaurants and cafes within walking distance. It’s also a 10-15 minute walk from Portobello Market which has shops and more yummy food.
We also liked that we booked the hop on hop off bus tour right in front of the hotel. Make sure you check out the prices online before you book in person to get the same great deals. The area where the hotel is at is lively and we felt safe. I would recommend this hotel.

Great location in front of the Hyde park and next to the tourist bus. Close to the tube station. Quiet at night. The quality of the rooms doesn’t reflect the price but it may be like this everywhere in London. The bed was very comfy. The shower got clogged so easily and no ventilation in the bathroom. It was comfortable for a few night stay though!

Had a great overnight stay here. Good value for money compared to similar hotels nearby.
Staff were super friendly and helpful.
Good breakfast, rooms are smallish but well equipped and the ones on the front have views across the park.

We have stayed at a Thistle Hotel near Russell Square, in Holborn and at this location. We are staying at this location right now, with plans to return a third time. The hotel is across the street from Hyde Park, within easy walking distance of Kensington Palace and a pleasant walk from Buckingham Palace. There are two tube stops within a few blocks that will easily take you anywhere in London. There are many restaurants and pubs in any direction and the shopping of Notting Hill is an easy stroll away. The rooms are good, staff is friendly and helpful and everything is spotless.

At first time of stay, we loved this hotel as very close to Queensway tube station, nice and quite area, clean and big rooms, clean bathroom. After a busy day, we sat on the bar and rested with nice food and drinks. The room we booked by was by the Kensington gardens, full green and yellow/brown at this time of the year. Breakfast is simple but adequate.
Our receptionist Pelin has helped us a lot and guided, on last day we had few business outside, we left the luggage at reception room while checking out in the morning, when we came back, they let us a room for changing clothes and repacking the suitcase.
We were so happy with this hotel so we rebooked for next month.

A Faded Legend? 💔 A Disappointing Return to Four Seasons (London)
I was incredibly excited to return to Four Seasons. I last visited in 2011 and had wonderful memories of what was, at the time, one of the best Chinese restaurants I’d experienced. 🗓️
Fast forward to 2025, I came back hoping for that same magical meal. Unfortunately, this visit was a significant letdown. The restaurant I remembered seems to be gone, and based on this meal, I can only give it 3 stars. ⭐⭐⭐
Here is a breakdown of what we ordered:
🍽️ The Food: A Rollercoaster of Hits and Misses
* Szechuan Soup: We started with this, and it was just... average. Completely middle-of-the-road. Not bad, but not memorable.
* Scallops (Steamed & Baked with Vermicelli): 🌟 This was the absolute best dish of the night! The scallops were incredibly fresh, perfectly cooked, and tasted fantastic with a bit of chili and soy sauce. A solid 4.5/5 stars for this dish.
* The Famous "Barbecue Meats" Platter: This is where things really fell apart.
* Crispy Pork (Siu Yuk): 👎 This was terrible. A 1-star dish, easily. The skin was tough and chewy (เหนียว), not crispy at all. The meat itself was hard and tasted almost burnt. A complete failure for such a classic.
* Roasted Pork (Char Siu): Thankfully, the Char Siu was much better. It had a good, sweet, smoky flavor. 4/5 stars for this component.
* Roasted Duck: 🦆 This is what Four Seasons is legendary for, and it was the biggest disappointment. The duck I remember from 2011 was juicy, the skin was fragrant, and the meat was tender. The duck we had today was just... average. Honestly, many restaurants in Asia do it better. It has completely lost its "wow" factor.
* Fried Squid & Stir-fried Prawns with Vegetables: 🍤 Similar to the soup, these dishes were just okay. Entirely forgettable and nothing special.
⚖️ Final Verdict
Overall, this was a deeply disappointing meal. 😔
When you consider the legendary reputation and the premium prices they charge, the food quality is simply not justifiable. While the Scallops and Char Siu were good, the failures (especially the awful Crispy Pork and the mediocre famous Duck) were too significant to ignore.
It breaks my heart to say it, but this legend seems to have lost its shine. 3 stars is all I can give.

When we came, the restaurant was totally stuffed with people, but we waited for 20 minutes, and it was worth it! The food is amazing! My husband loves spicy food, and I hate spicy food. But somehow they managed to make the food perfectly for the both of us!

Was on holiday in London and hadn’t had any Asian food in over a week so I was looking to satisfy a craving! Food was flavourful and the service was so quick and efficient. Got some delicious little oranges at the end of the meal too. My favourite was the spicy chilli beef - was super soft and the flavour was perfect. I think the green beens and pork was a little bit on the salty side but was fine as we ate it with the noodles. The noodles were great with a good amount of meats and a perfect crunch!

a stone's throw from our accommodation in London we decided to try this chinese restaurant. if we had judged it by its appearance it would not have been our first choice, but it was almost full and it was only 4pm. my trio of roast meats was really tasty. my daughter enjoyed her plate of only noodles and roast pork made especially for her.
Ferdinando Salvestrini - 5 months ago
Great food, service is efficient and attentive. The pork belly with rice was delicious. The crab and corn soup was my favourite dish. The hot sauces were incredibly tasty, and the pickled chilli on the side paired well with the main dish. The staff were very nice and gave me an orange and mints at the end of the meal to refresh my palate. Downfall: the decor and furniture needs an update.

Found this place on TikTok. Milk fed lamb definitely recommended. Everything we had was a hit service was exceptional. Really busy spot so definitely recommend getting reservations beforehand we went there without it not knowing it was going to be that busy and luckily a reservation didn't show up so we got their seats. Very accommodating.

To be honest Greek food is one of the most famous tasteful dishes cuisine in the world…
In this restaurant you can feel real taste of the traditional Greek cuisine. But when you entering in nearly empty restaurant and they asking you if you have reservations, this is weird, it is play with customers when on their food quality this is not quite needed.
Is a must try the One of the best home made in house honey cake in area.

We recently came across this restaurant not far from our hotel near Hyde Park on a visit to London. At first we couldnt get a table because it was so popular, many cypriot greeks and families made for a great vibe. As luck would have it, a table for 2 became free, so we took it.
The atmoshere, food, and service were fantastic. We'd highly recommend it for anyone wanting genuinely family run Greek restaurant with generous portions of food, which has been run by the same family for a few generations.
Picture attached is Beef Stifado (after I'd eaten half of it!)

I was just planning to treat myself to my favourite spaghetti meatballs, and unexpectedly Emiliano made my lunch even better. I was dining by myself, and he made me feel really welcome from the moment I arrived. He was incredibly kind, had a beautiful smile, and you could genuinely feel he was going the extra mile. Very friendly, attentive, and honestly… also pretty cute 👀. The food was great too, which made the whole experience even nicer. Really appreciated his service.

What a charming little pub! Was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the food was here. The house burger is to die for. The combination of the pork belly with beef patty is one I have never seen before and don’t know if I can go back! Every bite was flavourful and the onion rings were incredible. Crunchy and packs a punch. Highly recommend for a date or small groups. Staff were also very friendly 😊 Thank you!

Kings Head is one of the best places we have eaten in London. For classy atmosphere and genuine local cuisine. It met the mark. The service was wonderful. They were knowledgeable and gave great suggestions on different meal options. I went with a Grilled Halloumi Burger, that was suggested. It was amazing! There were 6 of us eating, all got different meals and everyone was impressed with their meals. Great place to eat!

Tucked away on the corner of Moscow Road, just a short stroll from Kensington Park, the King's Head Pub is a delightful gem that gives charm and warmth. From the moment you step inside, the cozy classic British pub unique atmosphere warms you up.😁😁😁👍 I tried the some vodka and a pint of beer—both were spot on, perfect for a relaxed afternoon. The bartender was very freindly, adding a personal touch that made the visit even more pleasant. The food was satisfying and hearty, just what you'd hope for in a classic London pub. With its long-standing history and characterful interior, it’s easy to see why locals and visitors alike keep coming back. The selection of beers is good, and the good service makes every pint taste better. Honestly, it’s a briliant spot to unwind, chat, and soak in the authentic pub vibe. Highly reccomended for anyone in the area.😊👍👍👍

Maybe because we are tourist but we didn’t feel very welcome. The service was poor and we were forgotten about a number of time: The chicken schnitzel was very very good as were the chive mashed potatoes. We finished it off with a sticky toffee pudding to finish our trip. This place is good if you are wanting something close by.

We went here for a lunch on 27 June, the day Zach Bryan was playing at Hyde Park - and to be fair to the staff for this reason it was extremely busy. We sat outside and ordered chicken wings, the chicken Caesar salad, one portion of chips and two cokes. This came to £49?! Extortion. Not only was the food cold when it arrived, but my “chicken” Caesar salad definitely did not include chicken. I raised my concern with a member of staff, in that I didn’t think it was chicken and that I had been given pork which I do not like. She agreed that it looked like pork and politely said she would check with the kitchen. She returned around 10 minutes later and told me I was wrong, that it was definitely chicken. I’m no chicken connoisseur, but this was 100% pork. I took a bite and confirmed it was pork. After this she was extremely unhelpful!
Definitely would not recommend.

Went here on a work trip by myself. Staff at the bar were nice, my rating is based on 2 things;
1) meal came out 5 mins after ordering, burger was raw in the middle (see picture).
2) I noticed after that service was added to my bill….but I ordered my food and drink at the bar….is this normal for London these days?

Serves authentic chinese cuisines including Malaysian styled curry. I heard about the Malaysian fried fish curry which is not on the menu. I loved it. The fried meat tofu is average. Authentic Chinese restaurant ✨ — it really feels like a proper yum cha spot with the round tables 🪑 and traditional décor 🏮
🔸Service:
The waitress was very welcoming 😊 and even arranged the best seat for us. As usual in Chinese dining, we started with hot tea 🍵 (you can choose your own — we went with chamomile 🌼 this time).
🔸Food:
🍜 Fried Beef Noodles 🍜 – My favorite! The black bean sauce 🫘 mixed perfectly with the beef 🥩 and noodles, with onion 🧅 and sweet peppers 🫑 balancing it out.
🍤 Crystal Prawn Dumplings (Har Gow) 🍤– 4 pieces, fresh and delicious 🦐.
🥟 Scallop & Prawn Siu Mai 🥟 – 4 pieces, juicy and flavorful.
🥬 Steamed Veg & Meat Dumplings 🥬 – 3 pieces, loved the crystal wrapper with the veggie mix inside.
🍲 Beef Cheong Fun (Rice Roll) 🍲 – Soft rice roll drizzled with soy sauce, very tasty.
🍡 Dessert: Black Sesame Glutinous Rice Balls 🍡 – Soft, slightly chewy, with rich sesame filling 🖤. (Fun fact: black sesame is great for hair & skin ✨).
🔸Overall: A truly authentic Chinese dining experience 🥢, not the usual localized “British-Chinese.” Food, service, and atmosphere were all spot on 🌟. Definitely coming back, and highly recommend it to anyone who wants the real deal ✅.

I had passed by Gold Mine many times and noticed there always seemed to be a queue of people waiting outside during the day. I checked online and found they are popular for their dim sum but also their roast meat. I decided to pay them a visit as I love duck and pork dishes.
My first impression was good as they were happy for me to make a reservation for one person and were very responsive to my requests.
I had a three-course meal of Deep Fried Crispy Aromatic Duck, Roast Meat Rice (BBQ Pork and Crispy Pork) and Banana Fritters. I had also planned to have the House Special Bean Curd but had no room after my main course.
All the dishes I had were delicious. The duck was probably the best I have ever had. It was crispy on the outside and the meat was not at all dry but succulent. I had no problem finishing all the pancakes. I asked for egg fried rice and it was well cooked, along with the two types of pork. The pork meats were full of flavour but not overpowering. The banana fritters were a great end to the meal. Crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
The service was also very good. The servers were attentive but not at all intrusive and I did not have to wait very long at all between courses.
One thing to note is that the restaurant was rather noisy and not the best place for a quiet or intimate meal. I was glad that I had my noise cancelling headphones with me. I would also recommend making a reservation, as it was very busy.
I definitely recommend Gold Mine if you fancy having Chinese cuisine, especially their roast meat dishes. I hope to make another visit soon to try their dim sum, as it looks very good.

I heard great things about this restaurant, especially their signature dish the lobster with noodles. Finally got a chance to try it and it was very very good. The lobster noodles with ginger and spring onion sauce was extremely delicious. I noticed almost every table in the restaurant had ordered this same dish. Shared this dish with a friend and there was plenty of lobster meat to go around. It's also very reasonably priced. Beef Ho Fun was also very good, plenty to "wok air" and was super tasty. Scallops was a good size and fresh. The soft shell crap was another delicious dish. Services was on point and very friendly.
Definitely recommend this restaurant and I'll be back very soon

Had an incredible meal at Mandarin Kitchen — easily one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in London. We started with the scallops, which were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavour, a great way to set the tone for the evening.
The star of the night was the Peking duck — crispy skin, tender meat, and wrapped with all the classic accompaniments, it was absolutely spot on. The lobster noodles were just as impressive: rich, indulgent, and cooked to perfection. We also had mushrooms on the side, which balanced the meal beautifully and added that extra depth of flavour.
Service was quick, attentive, and friendly, even though the restaurant was buzzing — the staff kept everything running smoothly and made us feel well looked after.
Mandarin Kitchen really delivers on quality, flavour, and atmosphere. If you love Chinese food done exceptionally well, this place is a must-visit.

I had been curious about visiting Mandarin Kitchen, as I had often seen people waiting outside the restaurant when passing by. I did some research and found they were known for their seafood, especially their Lobster Noodles.
I had a three course meal of Steamed Scallops, Fried Baby Squid with Garlic & Chilli, Lobster Noodles with Ginger & Spring Onion and Toffee Banana. Everything I had was excellent. The scallops were well cooked and the squid was juicy and had lots of flavour. Even the toffee banana was great. Crunchy on the outside and soft inside.
The Lobster Noodles were definitely the highlight. I appreciated that they offered to remove the lobster meat from the shell for me. It not only tasted wonderful but was very filling. It was definitely one of the best noodles dishes I have had in a long time.
The service was also good. In particular, Alex who arranged my reservation was very helpful, but the restaurant servers were also attentive and kind and the wait between dishes was minimal.
One thing I would say is that the restaurant is rather noisy and so I would not say it is ideal for a quiet or intimate meal. I was glad that I had my noise cancelling headphones. I would also recommend making a reservation, as it was very busy, especially for a weekday evening.
I can definitely recommend Mandarin Kitchen if you fancy having Chinese cuisine, especially seafood.

Amazing food, amazing service and great atmosphere.
We organized a special family meal to celebrate a 40th and 50th birthday and have to say everything was simply amazing.
The scallop starter was the best scallops I have had and the lobster noodles are worth visiting for.
Special thanks to Alex for organizing it so well for us.

We visited Aubaine for brunch on a lovely day, and overall, it was a good experience. The restaurant offers a wide selection of brunch options, which made choosing a bit difficult (in a good way!). While it is on the pricier side, the cost is understandable given its prime location—just a short walk from Hyde Park, making it a great spot to stop before or after a stroll.
The atmosphere was relaxed and it wasn’t too crowded, which added to the comfort of the experience. The breakfast was fresh, and the coffee was especially enjoyable—rich in flavour and nicely presented. The staff were friendly and attentive, contributing positively to the overall vibe.
All in all, Aubaine is a very good place to enjoy brunch in London, especially on a beautiful day.

I’m not giving 4 stars or higher because I remember what Aubaine used to be. I used to live in Notting Hill and this was my go to place for breakfast. It’s been a few years since I visited but the food wasn’t as good, the bacon was super salty and almost inedible. The mushrooms were good as were the eggs, the hash browns tasted like they were frozen and heated up. They took out the comfy couch area by the front door where I would sit and have coffee and it just wasn’t the same vibe as it used to be.

I finally tried the highly anticipated new Cinnamon French toast (Cinnamon crème patisserie, white chocolate and cinnamon sauce) which replaced their previous traditional French Toast (Brioche, Strawberry’s, Blueberries, Maple Syrup, Cream) which I ranked in my top three favourites. Honest opinion, the French toast was more of a dessert and is also included on the dessert menu. I prefer Aubaines previous French toast which was a personal favourite but must say Cinnamon is a maple syrup alternative that does work, but still prefer maple syrup. I prefer brioche but the new cinnamon french toast was more of a sponge cake. Not a big fan of ice cream or chocolate on my French toast, the white chocolate was not memorable and was overpowered by the cinnamon thankfully. I prefer mixed berry compote and cream or Greek yogurt on the side instead of ice cream. Overall it’s a safe French toast option but does not compare to the original Aubaine French toast.
Previous Review:
Aubaine French Toast is a personal favourite and it offers the type of combination that I personally favour. I refer to it as the traditional french toast. A blend of ingredients that compliment one another. This has been another go-to for me for French Toast.

Handy location just opposite to Hyde Park. Came here for a birthday celebration - ordered the mussels and lobster pasta—both were absolutely delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. The service from David was excellent—attentive, friendly, and made the evening feel extra special. Highly recommend for a memorable meal!
