My wife and I visited London with my dad, who is in his mid eighties and has mobility issues, for a show at the Albert Hall. Having experienced hotel problems previously with double bookings and our son having a similar experience recently after an event at Wembley (neither were Thistle hotels) all booked through 3rd party apps, I rang directly to confirm booking and that rooms were confirmed and one was an accessible room, the latest immediately before travel as weather was around 30° and I couldn't afford any issues whilst with my dad. Both times the person I spoke to was very friendly and helpful confirming booking and offering reassurance. The hotel was very accessible and offered a quick and friendly check in service. The room was a standard double but was decent size and bathroom had decent size bath and over bath shower. Room, as well as the rest of the hotel, was clean and well presented and had decent air-conditioning which actually worked and was straightforward to use! Breakfast was great, the welcome was superb from the host and even showed us where everything was and how the set up worked for the buffet style, even though it was all laid out well and pretty straightforward. Other staff were also polite, friendly and helpful. There is a small selection of drinks and snacks in the reception, a bit expensive but handy, this is complimented by a bar area too and if needs be it sits right on top of a well stocked petrol station, which we were in need of for some emergency headache tablets! I've stayed in many London hotels and coming from the North have always accepted staying in central london is not cheap however I have had problems previously and often wondered about value for money. This hotel however I can honestly say is great value and one of the best I have used. Will definitely stay again if I need to be in that area of London.

Overall, we had a pleasant 3-night stay at the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable and the overall facilities were good. I wanted to share a couple of honest points that future guests may find helpful. The hotel does not provide complimentary drinking water - not even a bottle in the room upon arrival - so you'll need to purchase your own. Also there is no microwave available for guests, so if you plan to heat up food during your stay, this may not be the best hotel for you. The location is decent and one thing we really appreciated is that there is a gas station attached to the hotel where you can conveniently buy water, drinks and snacks at any time. Overall, it was a good stay, but I hope the hotel considers adding complimentary drinking water and a guest microwave, as these small additions would make a big difference.

Such great value for money! We stayed for four nights during the London heatwave and had a fantastic experience. The location is the biggest selling point—Hyde Park is right across the road, with multiple Tube lines and bus stops literally on the doorstep, making it incredibly easy to get anywhere in London. We also loved that it was in a quieter, more local-feeling part of the city while still being just a short trip from Notting Hill, Central London and all the major tourist attractions. We booked a basic room, so it was quite small, but that was exactly what we expected. For the price, the location and the wonderful staff, it’s hard to fault. The air conditioning worked brilliantly (which was a lifesaver during the heatwave), the bed was comfortable, and we slept well each night. The room could have benefited from a deeper clean in a few areas, but considering the price, it certainly wasn’t enough to detract from our stay. Overall, I’d happily stay here again and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable hotel in an excellent location.

My family of four and I just stayed here for five days, and I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. When we arrived around 10 am were greeted warmly and told we could check in early—a huge relief after an overnight flight from the US. We stayed in the family room, which is actually two separate areas/rooms, and it offered much-needed space for us and our two young kids. The views of the park, and, in the distance, iconic London sights such as the V&A Museum and even the Eye, were amazing. The shower was a bit small (by US standards at least!) and required care to get in and out of safely—especially little ones—but the bathroom was clean and the cleaning service did a reliably good job every day. The breakfast spread was huge, appealing to both adults and (very) picky children. The best part, though, was the staff. Each morning they greeted us warmly, and by the last day of our stay I almost felt like they were old friends. Truly exceptional! The location of the hotel can’t be beat—right across from beautiful Hyde Park and walkable to so many restaurants, pubs, and attractions, but also within blocks of numerous Tube and bus lines and Paddington station. If I’m ever in London again, I would absolutely stay here.

Ordered the Set meal for 2 for the variety of dishes. Chicken & sweetcorn soup good, crispy aromatic duck excellent, King prawn with chilli and black bean sauce was delicious - succulent prawns. Sweet & Sour Pork delicious - it certainly tasted authentic. Loved the stir-fried vegetables, too. Egg-fried rice also good. The portions were just right. Service very efficient and professional. The price was fair for the quality and service. I would definitely return and try more dishes. Very good location near Tube station.

Came after friend's recommendations. 2nof us, can't order too much. Duck : great option to have it deboned. Juicy, tender, tasty, duck fat is fabulous, most importantly, skin is still crispy. Top notch, haven't eaten a better duck even in Hong Kong. Seafood soup, tasty full of umami. Nice, fresh seafood. Most importantly, crunchy prawns is tasty, other places when prawns are crunchy (from soda) are bland and tasteless, this place has perfected the preparation. Kudos Beef for fun, very tasty and tender beef slices. Would have given 5 stars if it is a little more salty and charred. Overall, will definitely recommend this place to my friends visiting London.

Four seasons🦆 Roasted Duck: Actually life-changing. It’s giving super juicy energy and the meat is so tender it’s basically butter. The softness? Incredible. Crispy Pork: The crunch is a jumpstart for the soul. We’re talking majorly crispy skin and that "good smell" pork that just hits different.

I feel like 3 stars - right in the middle - is the best score we can give for our experience in Halepi. Although we overall enjoyed the Cypriot food served here, our expectations were much higher. So, unfortunately we think this place is overhyped. Due to this, the prices are rather high too. We’ve tried the salad with rusks, which we enjoyed and had very fresh tomatoes. The melizanosalata was ok - a bit unsalted/ generally lacked some taste. The Greek sausages and cheese were nice but nothing exceptional. We shared the mixed grilled meats and rice as a main and we liked the grilled taste to it, but again, some meats were a bit tough and nothing special. The rice was quite plain too. Our favourite item was probably the dessert, which however could have been better if it was left to soak in the syrup for longer, the true Greek and Cypriot way, while some parts had a nice taste to them and others didn’t. Our total with tip and service charge was almost £90 (no drinks). So yeah, as I said, nice but below expectations.

The food at the restaurant was exceptionally delicious, especially the meats ، truly outstanding. We ordered hummus and dolma as starters, and both were very good. My only complaint is that the place is quite small, which makes it hard to feel comfortable or have enough space to relax.

Great place with a truly authentic Greek atmosphere. I highly recommend it! The lamb was absolutely amazing. A special thanks to the staff as well — the lady was incredibly kind and the waiter was super friendly and cool. Overall, a wonderful experience.

This a a six decade Greek restaurant near Hyde Park. The decor and vibes are reflected in its history. The food is tasty and with good flavor. Overall, we had a nice experience here.

We went to Halepi last night. It was busy, so the staff encouraged us to order quickly. The restaurant is quite small, so there isn’t much space to move around. The salad was fresh, and all the stews were juicy, tender and comforting. My casserole felt a bit salty to me, though my family disagreed — so that might just be me! The food was good, but everything felt rushed. Even with a couple of empty tables, we were still pushed along. If you book a table, your time slot is 90 minutes, and it definitely feels like they keep an eye on the clock. If you’re after good food and don’t mind being kept on a tight schedule, this is the place for you!

Really enjoyed our visit to Bella Italia. The service stood out right away — everyone was friendly, attentive, and impressively fast without ever feeling rushed. Our food came out quickly, and everything we ordered was excellent. The Margherita pizza was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want from a classic pizza. A special highlight was the Bake Brookie dessert — absolutely incredible and honestly not to be missed. It’s one of those desserts that’s hard to describe because it’s just pure heaven when it arrives at the table. After our day of traveling we wanted a reliable relaxing meal and Bella Italia Queensway was just around the corner so it was a perfect location, upon arrival welcomed by Charmaine, who was our server for the evening allowed us to select a quiet table in the corner and left us to peruse the menu, very happy with the right level of attention to us and very quickly arrived with our starters which were delicious and this continued to the main, where I had forgotten to order garlic bread 🫣 no bother to add to the meal, plenty of time to allow our food to digest before we ordered dessert, again arriving in good time, very happy to find the restaurant on our doorstep, so good, we intended to return again the following night too. The staff although small in number work really hard and do a great service. We had fish and chips, not a big portion but acceptable and decent. Brilliant for sports with loads of screens and the beers are decent too. A pub also used by locals who are very friendly and considerate to the tourists that populate the pub. Its our go to place when staying local :)

We went there for watching the arsenal-psg game. Really good atmosphere it was so fun. While we were sitting on the stairs, a lovely lady, who I believe was the owner or one of the co-owners of the bar, kindly found us a table so we could watch the match. Her hospitality and kindness were greatly appreciated. I will definitely visit again whenever I return to London. Greetings from Türkiye :)

Nice pub where the locals come to drink and visit. I loved the decor. Tables had comfortable Captains chairs and wingback chairs. Along one wall was a comfortable looking couch. The food was really good, hot and filling. Definitely recommend.

This is a great spot. Recently moved in around the corner and was looking for somewhere to watch the football. There is so much light through the windows, it's a cute spot. Can't comment on the food as I was only there for drinks, but there were many people enjoying Sunday food, and I noticed the volume of the footie was a respectable level for the rest. Will be back 👍👍

Really enjoyed our meal here. We were received warmly from the minute we walked in by Andrew. He was an attentive, welcoming and friendly host. Bar service was performed by Milda who served us the very last glass of mulled wine which we thoroughly enjoyed. The food was delicious, flavourful and well cooked. We could not fault the meal at all and we are grateful to the Chef manager Nadia and Corin. If you’re looking for a sunday roast, you should definitely come here.

Leinster Arms is a great pub! We enjoyed our Full English breakfast (a great value!) in the morning so much that we returned for dinner. The England v. Japan game was on, and the atmosphere was lively! Cecelia and Maggie/Magdalena were our friendly servers and took great care of us. The variety of comfort food choices will satisfy any craving. Our party of three had the lamb shank pie, chicken schnitzel, steak and ale pie with a pork belly starter. We ended on a sweet note with the signature toffee pudding. Delicious! All generous portions and superb! We look forward to our next visit!

Nice area, older cliental. Seems to me very much a food pub and the food I saw being served looked very good but I wouldn't describe it as good value. It's not cheap in othwords. Lots of elderly couples coming in for evening meals. The Guinness was the best I had in the area but like most London pubs, staff need to learn how to pour it properly. The final head of the Guinness should be above the rim of the glass. The head firms up when it settles and will not overflow. Otherwise you simply get less of the actual "black stuff", Guinness. Pints not cheap £7.50 etc etc. Other than Guinness, other pints were quite flat. Door of cubicle in gents toilet doesn't lock and lights keep going off while you are in there? Still, a nice pub.

Post Lunchtime lull so dead quiet but Staff are very friendly and attentive. Food is typical pub dishes. I had all day breakfast, my husband had the chicken burger, but it looked dry. The fish and chips looked really good Music playing and sport on tv, space outside to sit 👌

Maybe more of a food pub, to be fair the food looked fairly decent, but poor choice of wine (just the same old three Pinot, Chardonnay or Sauvignon). Always feel slightly annoyed when the credit card assumes I want to add a tip 🙄 for simply pouring my drink from behind the bar.

Gold Mine is honestly one of the best spots in London for roast duck. The skin is perfectly crispy while the meat stays juicy and flavorful. Hot take, but I actually think their duck is even better than Four Seasons. Every bite was rich, tender, and super satisfying. The place itself is simple and always buzzing, which usually means the food is legit. Service is quick and efficient, and dishes come out fast. If you’re around Bayswater or Queensway and craving proper Cantonese roast duck, this spot is definitely worth it. 🦆✨

Gold mine roast duck is by far the best roast duck under £40 I have had in London. I have ordered half the duck, rice. It comes with boneless, and their house chilli oil. I must say their chilli oil is very very good and they sold it for £10 per bottle. The duck itself - the best duck in the uk, the colour of the skin, flavour of the duck, duck oil and sauce underneath, the juice from the duck, temperature of the dish they are all perfect. Two things to complain: 1. Service is bad, no smile, did not ask about the meal experience 2. My duck leg is missing? Where’s my duck leg? The entire portion just looks small. The chef just trimmed some parts out from my half duck and trying to steal from me and serve in other order. Big red flag. However it tastes really good.

A really terrific, genuinely Chinese restaurant. Seated quickly, and soup, which came out hot and delicious, and dumplings, which were SO good. We were unfamiliar as to how to arrange the duck we ordered, so our server was happy to demonstrate. It was delicious. Prices are reasonable. The earlier you arrive (we got here 5:30 on a Saturday night), the better shot you have at a table. Bathrooms are up a steep 20 step staircase.

came here with family and got a banquet style dinner. I had to ask for a better seat, had the beef, fish was which was actually immaculate and had freshness and good flavours, and then the choy kailan which was okay and the the the roasts pork but and the rice was incredibly expensive like literally two portions came out to 18 lb. I mean insane for us not the place to get dinner. I've had this experience twice in different locations. now I think the dim sum is what we should really be getting here. it's actually the best part

This was one of my highlights in my London trip. I ordered the very famous and delicious Lobster Noodle with ginger and spring onions, Steamed Scallops with Garlic Soya Sauce and Salt & Pepper Squid Fillet. The Steamed Scallops were so soft and tender. The Squid Fillet was nicely fried. The hero, Lobster Noodle, came last. Once I placed the first strands of noodles into my mouth, I knew this was a perfectly prepared dish. The lobster meat was cooked to perfection and blended nicely with the noodles. Worth another trip if I am come back to London.

This is one of my favourite Chinese restaurants in London. The food quality is always consistently high, and every visit has been enjoyable. I especially love the roast duck and roast chicken, the skin is incredibly crispy and delicious. The fried noodles and other dishes are also excellent and full of flavour. For dessert, the red bean pancake and banana cake are both amazing and definitely worth trying. Great food, great quality, and a place I always look forward to coming back to. Highly recommended!

If you’re looking for truly outstanding Chinese food in London, Mandarin Kitchen is, without question, my absolute favourite. Every time I visit, I’m reminded why I keep coming back, the food is consistently incredible, full of rich, authentic flavours and always cooked to perfection. You can really taste the quality and care in every dish. What makes the experience even better is the service. The staff are always friendly, attentive, and welcoming, creating a warm and relaxed atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. It’s the kind of place where you’re genuinely looked after from start to finish. I’ve been to Mandarin Kitchen countless times over the years, and not once have I left disappointed, which is honestly rare to find. The consistency is impressive, and it’s clear they take pride in maintaining such high standards. On top of all that, the prices are very reasonable for the location and the quality you get, making it even easier to keep coming back. For me, this place is a real gem in London and easily one of the best Chinese restaurants around. I couldn’t recommend it more highly.

The food was underwhelming, tasting like a typical Chinese takeaway, and we found a piece of metal in one of the dishes, which ruined our appetite. Our table of eight was booked from 6:00–7:30pm; the soup arrived at 6:15pm, but the mains didn’t come until 6:50pm, leaving us rushed. While we appreciate the dessert offered after the incident, the quality, cleanliness, and service fell short of expectations. We will not be returning and also not recommend.

The food was really tasty and I forgot to take photos of the rest of the dishes. We also had the stir fried pak choy, beans, scallops. We came for early lunch on a Friday. Service was good and friendly. The star dish has always been the lobster noodles and it still is what my friends came for.

The only attractive thing about this place is their sitting area outside, next to the park, just usually you need to sit there, have overpriced coffee and breakfast and then to realise that. Latte looked so nice in the cup, but taste was like it’s half water, I guess they save on milk. Also service is terrible, the guy was just passine next to tables, going in and out and serving one by one when finally we would manage to call him to come.

Let’s start with “the place is a must visit for me multiple time whenever I am in London”. Hyde park across the street so either eat first and enjoy the park? Or afterwords. Staff is amazing. I’m not giving 4 stars or higher because I remember what Aubaine used to be. I used to live in Notting Hill and this was my go to place for breakfast. It’s been a few years since I visited but the food wasn’t as good, the bacon was super salty and almost inedible. The mushrooms were good as were the eggs, the hash browns tasted like they were frozen and heated up. They took out the comfy couch area by the front door where I would sit and have coffee and it just wasn’t the same vibe as it used to be.

We visited Aubaine for brunch on a lovely day, and overall, it was a good experience. The restaurant offers a wide selection of brunch options, which made choosing a bit difficult (in a good way!). While it is on the pricier side, the cost is understandable given its prime location—just a short walk from Hyde Park, making it a great spot to stop before or after a stroll. The atmosphere was relaxed and it wasn’t too crowded, which added to the comfort of the experience. The breakfast was fresh, and the coffee was especially enjoyable—rich in flavour and nicely presented. The staff were friendly and attentive, contributing positively to the overall vibe. All in all, Aubaine is a very good place to enjoy brunch in London, especially on a beautiful day.
