Unbeatable location, right across the street from Big Ben, which makes it a very convenient stop after walking around Westminster.
The place has that classic English tavern feel you would expect, but during our visit there was no music or real atmosphere, which took away some of the energy and overall experience.
One important thing to note is that the menu was very limited, with only about four items available. That said, the fish and chips was truly delicious, very well prepared and served with a sauce that really elevates the dish. The mulled wine was also very good, perfect for the London weather.
The service was good and polite, but considering the prime location and iconic concept, it could definitely be warmer and more engaging to fully match the setting.
Overall, it is worth visiting for the location and a solid fish and chips, but there is clear room to improve both the atmosphere and the service to live up to where it is located.

To be honest, we were pleasantly surprised by the food here — for a small restaurant located in a tourist area, the taste was really above our expectations. The prices are a bit high, which is understandable given the location. The service was great; Andy, who served us, was very friendly and responsive. One small suggestion for the management: please consider maintaining the restrooms a bit better — at least one of the women’s stalls wasn’t flushing properly.

One of the best pubs I frequented in London, been back twice in one trip, steeped in history entrenchdd in its walls, comfy leather sofas and made even better by the welcoming staff. We were lucky to make it upstairs for a more private dining.
Food-hands down one of the best fish n chips on this side of town, generously portioned fish bigger than my face and crispy batter was executed flawlessly. That paired with their crisp, refreshing house lager was just perfect.
Step outside and enjoy the view of Big Ben at the doorstep.
Caveats: limited seating and gets busy so book or visit earlier prior to rush hour.

A delightful pub near Parliament. Jon was our server and was very thoughtful and attentive. The fish and chips paired well with my peachy ale and a dark stout.

Karolaine was an exceptional server. I'm not from the UK and asked for recommendations for beers. I told her what I usually like. She recommended 3. I told her to chose for me. She brought me West Coast IPA which I thoughtfully enjoyed. She also brought me 2 shots of the other beers she recommended. Turns out she chose correctly. Thanks Karolaine, you're the best.
The fish and chip was one foot long (no joke). Crunchy and very tasty.

🚇 Westminster
🍺 £8.05 Asahi
The Red Lion is located between 10 Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament in Westminster. The nearest Tube is Westminster.
The Red Lion stands on the site of a medieval tavern known in 1434 as the Hopping Hall. After changing hands and names for centuries, it became The Red Lion—later frequented by a young Charles Dickens. Rebuilt in 1899 in stunning Baroque style, it is now Grade II listed.
This traditional pub spans three floors, with the main bar on the ground level, the Cabinet Room downstairs, and a dining room upstairs. The main bar is long and narrow, divided by dark-wood partitions, and features a beautiful ornate servery with a carved mahogany bar back along the left-hand side. Decor includes a boarded floor, poser tables, a patterned ceiling, etched glass, and portraits of former prime ministers.
Upstairs is a splendid dining room with gorgeous wood panelling, a period fireplace, a parquet floor, and a lavish ceiling. Unfortunately, the cellar bar wasn’t open, so I couldn’t have a nose. Outside, there are a couple of benches for enjoying a pint in the warmer months.
This Fuller’s pub has a good selection of beers, including three cask ales. I opted for a pint of Asahi; the pint was on point, price point was eye-watering at over eight quid. Food-wise, it’s hearty pub classics: fish and chips costs £20.50, and roasts are available on Sundays.
I arrived at 10:30 a.m. on a bright Friday morning in September. The pub had just opened and was calm, with a few early tourists stopping by. Service was first class, I had a lovely chat with a longtime staff member who shared stories of the pub and his 25 years at Fuller’s.
All in all, it was a very enjoyable visit to The Red Lion in Westminster. The stunning architecture, beautiful interior, good (if slightly pricey) beer, and warm hospitality made for a great experience. I would 100% recommend a visit—just go early, as it gets very busy due to the location.

Overall a good dining experience on a Friday evening. Arrived about 45 min early, was asked to see my email reservation and then told the dining room was full so we needed to come back at our reservation time. Came back promptly at 6:15 and went upstairs. Dining room is small but lovely. There were 3 other tables occupied at the time 🤨. Ordered 2 Scottish Eggs (delicious!!!), a steak pie w/mash (good with leeks), the bacon chop (good but salty), and chicken goujons (great option for kids). Wish we had realized there were no veggies with the chop and ordered some extras sides. Several folks ordered the fish and chips and they looked tasty.
Service was okay and became friendlier as the evening progressed. There were only 2 managing the dining room at the time. (Perhaps that’s why they turned us away earlier which is a fair reason.)
We were too full for dessert. If you are looking for a historical spot to grab a bite, give this a try. Make reservations just in case!

Had a really nice family meal here upstairs in the dining room. We tried the fish pie, bhaji burger, mushroom & lentil pie, chicken tenders and fish and chips. All were great. Also managed to finish a nice bottle of Portuguese red wine. Highly recommend, will be back next time we visit London. Almost forgot, we had a few deserts too 😊👍❤️

The Red Lion is everything you want in a classic London pub — lively, welcoming, and buzzing non-stop with energy. We popped in for a few beers, and the place was absolutely packed, which only added to the authentic atmosphere.
Though we didn’t try the food this time, it looked fantastic — hearty, classic pub fare that had plenty of hungry locals and tourists coming back for more. The vibe was unmistakably genuine, with a warm, traditional feel that makes you want to settle in.
The standout, though, was the bartender — absolutely darling and so friendly, making the whole visit feel personal and inviting despite the busy crowd.
If you’re near Parliament and want a proper London pub experience with great drinks, friendly faces, and nonstop buzz, The Red Lion is definitely worth a visit. Five stars for atmosphere and service alone!

We stumbled upon The Red Lion (Parliament Street) while seeing the nearby tourist attractions. With so many pub options in the area, we were just trying to find something without a long wait. We got a table upstairs which was quaint & cozy. The service was not very friendly, but the drinks and food arrived pretty quickly. Our meat pie and mashed potatoes were delicious, but the mac & cheese wasn’t great. I would go here again, but I’m guessing there’s better options just outside the main tourist area.

Working with Letticia was a dream!!!! She and her team were so professional and courteous.
They catered to every demand and request we had. The venue was so beautifully decorated, with all the vendors working well and efficiently to ensure that the wedding was epic!!!
Despite the long hours, Leticia ensured that we were well accommodated.
The bride and groom and their guests had so much fun.
I definitely recommend this venue for your weddings, special events, and occasions.

Superb food, drink and atmosphere. Was fortunate enough to be invited and it did not disappoint. The room is steeped in history, if only the walls could talk! I'd love to return.

A great option for a bite to eat or a drink without having to leave the museum and continuing your visit. The menu is quite limited, but the food is very good. They don't serve beer. The staff is very attentive and friendly, with a person who speaks Spanish and can help you choose.
