Let’s start with the good part: the atmosphere is incredible. Red velvet, candlelight, and live jazz so close you can feel the bass through your glass. The cocktails are top-tier, and the food easily outperforms what most music venues even attempt. My crab cakes were crisp perfection, the salad was fresh, and the service stayed calm even with a packed house.
Now for the part that ruined the vibe. The mandatory entrée rule. I came for drinks and small plates, happily spent several times the cost of an entrée, and was still told I had to order one or leave it uneaten. It felt like a cheap money grab at a place that otherwise screams class. Nothing kills the mood faster than being told your perfectly good dinner order isn’t “enough.”
I still respect the music and the kitchen, both are excellent, but that policy left a bad taste I can’t ignore.
Three stars. Great night, unnecessary greed.

We went to Smoke Jazz & Supper Club last night and had an incredible time. The show was absolutely amazing, especially the Monk tribute, which was unbelievable. Both the food and the performance exceeded our expectations. We had the octopus, NY strip, and coq au vin, and everything was cooked perfectly. Such a great experience all around.

Took my partner for her birthday and it was superb!
The food was excellent, we shared the polpette and bread for starters, followed by steak frites for main and chicken parm for main course, this was served and eaten mostly before the jazz started.
Then once the music started the cocktails are excellent! Overall perfect spot for a special evening, we will be back!

We had a great night at Smoke after a difficult start. Somehow I managed to confuse bookings and we turned up the day after our reservation - I guess the product of a busy few days. Obviously this was disappointing, however the team made sure we had a table in the late show at no cost. That was unexpected, as it was my mistake but says a lot about the place. Beyond that the food was delicious , bar and serving staff knowledgeable and friendly and the Joey Alexander set wonderful. What could have been a sad end to our trip was very memorable and we couldn't be happier. Thanks to everyone involved.

Delicious food all around! The ají de gallina was fantastic, creamy, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. The maduros were absolute perfection, caramelized just right. Service was friendly and attentive, and they were so accommodating, even adding an extra person to our table last minute without any issue. A great spot for comforting Peruvian dishes and a relaxed, welcoming vibe.

I found this restaurant because I was looking for Peruvian Chicken and boy did this place exceed my expectations. This is a Chinese/Peruvian fusion so their menu is quite extensive. My family of 5 loved everything they ordered, service was friendly and timely. Would definitely come again!

I absolutely love the food at Flor de Mayo restaurant. The service was great and we received it fast. The food tasted fresh and was hot. They have a wide selection of food, and all the dishes I have tasted are delicious. It’s hard to locate parking, but I highly recommend it when in the area. It’s a must try 😀

i usually go to the location on 86th street but this location is just as great! the food, the drinks, and the people were all so good and lovely. menu highlights were: broiled pork chops, the shrimp soup (my all time favorite), squid fried rice, and can never go wrong with some piña coladas.

Florida De Mayo has been a staple of the community. It's one of the few still standing. It's been there more than 20+ years serving the community their Chinese Latin food. Part Peruvian and Chinese this location has something for everyone. Regardless of your preference you can not go wrong at this location or their sister location.

5/5 Ethiopian food!!! I’ve now been here three times in the last two years, and have traveled from all over Manhattan to come eat at this Awash! I love their Kitfo and vegetarian sampler platter. I’ll have to keep coming back so I can try everything on the menu! This isn’t fast food and it’s meant to be enjoyed slowly, so don’t eat here if you’re in a hurry.

Awesome food! I love that you get to eat with your hands! There may be a cultural disconnect with the way that they wait on you but they are very respectful and nice with smiles! Get the platter with meats and veggies! So good!

Started with the tella (a honey wine, coffee and jalapeño cocktail) and Timatim Fitfit for an appetizer. We had the awash chicken and the Yatakilt Alicha. Everything was incredible and fresh and flavorful. Prices were reasonable and service was good. My first time having Ethiopian food, it couldn’t have been better.

The Best Ethiopian food compared to CT and FL.

Be sure to go for dinner, especially on the weekends and you will be rewarded with the best chef!!

I ordered on uber eats and it came faster than expected. Super delicious, the injera is fresh and the lamb with collard greens very nice. The portion is huge! My favorite however was the lentil dish - I think it was misir wat. Will def order again.

Cute, quaint spot. The customer service was great.
What we initially came in to try wasn’t available but I was not disappointed with my visit. The food was absolutely delicious. My sister who dislikes ham thoroughly enjoyed her quiche Lorraine. I enjoyed the croque madame. I do wish the side salads had dressing. The caramel macchiatos were some of the best coffee I’ve had in a long time. The crepe was perfect balance of tart and sweet.

I was looking for a quiet place to have a nice glass of wine and a bite to eat. After a beautiful concert at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. After trying a few different places that were way too loud, I found Cafe du Soleil.
The host tonight was Miguel. He was so gracious and welcoming. Even though I just wanted a little something, he showed me to a beautiful little table outside that is inside a plastic bubble! Very cozy and private. It was the perfect quiet experience to have a glass of wine and some delicious escargot on Broadway in New York City! I will be back, for sure. Very grateful to Miguel for the welcome.

What an amazing discovery. Great atmosphere, wide menu selection, welcoming and professional service.
Every dish we tried left us curving to return for more. My personal surprise was a blood sausage. I tried plenty of them cooked Slavic style, but one we had in Cafe du Soleil - best of the best!!!

Saturday brunch walk-in with the place filled to 40% capacity. Very chill vibes and French/Paris eatery setup with nice bright interiors.
I wish their draught selection was wider, but the Kronenbourg pint they had on tap was chilled and went down pretty easy!
For food, we got linguine with butter for out little butter cakes, Moroccan Sandwich ($19) with Spicy Lamb Sausage. The French Baguette was pretty hard to eat but the sausage was good.
The winner of the table though was an excellent Vegetarian Avocado Toast ($19). The Yellow and Red Cherry tomatoes and onions just elevated the taste to the next level for me!
Service was slightly slow in terms of our drinks. Food however arrived within 20 mins of ordering.
I can see Cafe Du Soleil become our regular brunch spot, especially whenever I am craving their amazing Avocado Toast!

I selected one square cut and one traditional slice. The pizza was just ok. Crust was good and baked well, it’s the sauce! It’s weak. Not very flavorful! Add some marinara to help and more parimson cheese

I'm originally from NY, but have moved to NC. I came back for my grandson, who had heart surgery across the street and was hoping for some really good pizza. This place didn't disappoint - it was really good!
What I do have a problem with is bait and switch. Online prices are given, and when you walk in, the prices above, on the board match. I ordered, and what should have been $12+tax, turned out to be $18+tax. When I asked the girl at the register who, "only works here", she added that the actual prices are in their take away menu stacked on the counter. She also added that it was brought up weeks ago by another customer, and it's up to the owners to change the pricing and address the issue, not her.
I have no problem with paying for anything that is clearly stated by the establishment whatever it is that they charge. As a consumer, we make choices based on how much, and do we want it? There are hundreds of pizza places - WHY NOT be diligent and up front with your customers? It's deception and poor business.
Pizza, good.
Pizzeria and customer service, not so good.
If ever back in the city, I'll spend my hard earned money on another place that has more integrity and honesty.
☆And, girl at the register, MAYBE suggest patrons look at the actual menu on the counter that's next to the register, with current pricing, and not at the above the counter and online pricing.
You work there, do your job!

Sal and Carmine Pizza has the best pizza I have ever had. The aunts were fighting over the crust and they don’t even like crust! Even my grandma who has a very strict diet made an exception for this sublime pizza. Sal and Carmine is celebrating its 68th anniversary! If you like pizza, even if you have dietary restrictions, TRUST ME, you will love 🤩this pizza! Would HIGHLY recommend!

Honestly, I was a bit disappointed when I came here. I had looked at this place online to find a nice spot to eat with a friend to celebrate something. I had seen a lot of high rated reviews, many saying how this was “a rather iconic place in the upper west side,” and had high expectations for this place, but didn’t have the best experience. The place felt rather small and crammed, with only a few places to sit. Besides that, the food didn’t look the most appetizing. It was alright, but I had expected better. I’d probably look somewhere else for good pizza.

Everytime i take a bite of this pizza I think to myself man I love being in New York City man.
I just happened to stumble upon this place one time when I was lost in the city and I wanted a quick bite to eat.
The place looked quaint enough uh nothing stood out nothing fancy just straight to business.
The first bite you take is going to surprise you, the second one is going to convince you. Even once you're done and you get to the CRUST, you're not wasting that crust that's part of the greatness.
If you took your time out today to read this I believe you're a pizza connoisseur try this pizza you'll either like it or love it and what else can you ask for from a New York SLICE.

Sal and Carmine’s on the Upper West Side is a true gem for pizza lovers! I ordered a pepperoni and sausage pizza, and it was absolutely delicious. The pizza was generously topped with a rich, flavorful sauce that perfectly complemented the savory toppings. The crust had just the right amount of crispiness—light and airy but still with that satisfying crunch. What makes this place even better are the fair prices, especially for the PIZZA SIZE you’re getting. If you’re in the neighborhood and craving an authentic New York slice, Sal and Carmine’s is definitely worth a visit!
Also! The place boasts a huge interior space and a lot of seating too!

Tried the Margherita - the dough was really good, but the sauce tasted like plain tomato paste, too strong and unbalanced. A bit disappointing overall.

You NEED to go here if you’re at Columbia or in the Upper West Side. Probably one of the best Thai spots I’ve been to. We got the pad ki Mao & pra ram tofu. SO GOOD. The rice is perfect, and on top of that the service is amazing. They’re super quick, always come and ask if you want anything, their hot sauces have all 4 of the sauces (the spicy pepper, small fresh pickled peppers, chili sauce… and one that I forget, because I don’t usually eat it). They have 2 bathrooms in the back, and the location is super cute.
Ravi Kurani - 4 months ago
I got take out after craving some real street style pad Thai like you get in Thailand. This was definitely not it. The noodles were slightly overcooked/mushy and no peanuts. Also they didn’t cook the noodles in the sauce seems like they added separately. Many reviewers love this place so I will have to try again and order laab or kra pao. Sorry to disappoint. Best Thai restaurant in US is Larb Zaab in Quincy, Massachusetts. I dream of it and for me, nowhere outside of Thailand compares.
Lindsay fink - in the last week
I gave a 4 because of the customer service but food overall was really good, the interior is nice, cool and chilled. The Steamed Thai dumpling were amazing and tasty, the pad kee mao was very good and I asked for mild, the kow soy was good, not too spicy at all, chicken was very tender and the sauce was flavorful and creamy.
Bridget Ortega - 3 months ago
Overcast Sunday random walk-in got us here. The place was not busy and we got an amazing window seat and got straight to ordering which included Kow Soy ($17.95), Vegetable Curry ($17.95) and, Curry Rice ($2.50) - a side portion which was enough to feed our little one!
Food overall was inline with expectations; nothing spectacular, but not disappoint either. Not much spice kick, but the Kow Soy was packed with flavor and the Vegetable Curry, not so much! Decent portion sizes too.
Service was slightly slow, but food arrived within 25-mins of ordering. Noise levels on the lower end. Will visit again for sure!

The food at Thai Market is possibly the best Thai food I have had in the US. Everything we have tried over many visits has been consistently delicious, including the Branzino, Salmon, Chicken Massaman, Pad Thai, Calamari and Chicken Sate. The only problem is that is now so popular that there is often a 1 hour wait.

Been going to Manhattan Valley for about 20 years (since it was Indus Valley) minus a partial break for when the old management wasn't respecting the help. But that's long since over. The food has always been delicious. Food is always fresh, they have excellent vegetarian options (obviously), and the staff has always been kind and attentive. It's one of my favorite neighborhood Indian restaurants.
Chad Chervitz - a week ago
Random walk-in to try their lunch buffet on a Sat afternoon got us here. Old skool Indian restaurant; dated interiors, old bar that still serves Indian classic cocktails, and a buffet that surprisingly manages to justify its $21 price tag (half-priced for kids under 6).
Poonam, our hostess got us seated and we went straight to grabbing our food, Their buffet selection was limited, but felt perfect. Snacks included Samosa's and Chicken Pakoras with a tasty green chutney, and mains focused on dependable classics like Aloo Gobi, Saag Paneer, and a rather bland Dal Makhni. They had one Indo-Chinese mains - Fish Chilly, and non-veg mains included Chicken Tikka Masala, Goat Curry, Chicken Kali-Mirch. They also had Biryani Rice and Choley Bhature, but the Bhatura's were very thick and disappointing.
They served naan and rotis on the table and the staff was friendly. Restaurant had a good amount of foot traffic throughout our stay! Will definitely be our local go-to-Indian restaurant in the neighborhood!

I first visited over ten years ago and fell in love with those three little sauces and papadam they give you upon arrival. The food is better here than any other Indian restaurant I’ve ever been to. Was so glad to go back when I was in town last week and find not much has changed- the food is still mind-blowingly delicious, the staff still impeccable and friendly. Can’t wait to visit again!

cheap slice

It’s solid diner fare. Nothing is amazing but nothing is bad either. The pastrami is above average for a diner. Burgers are solid as is most breakfast. It’s $$$ for what it is.
