5 Star Rating Incredible evening! Had the most amazing night sitting right behind Bill Charlap, the famous Jazz pianist. Seriously, luck was on our side! An hour just flew by as we soaked in his awesome tunes. It was like time had its own rhythm, and we couldn't believe our luck to be part of such a cool experience.

5 Star Rating I got 5 stars because it was lovely, The music was amazing, the environment was great, But the only thing that was not comfortable was that it's mandatory to order food and no one asks if you're hungry or not. Please if you can manage that not classy thing would be perfect. The food, drinks, service and music were amazing.

5 Star Rating The Band was amazing that performed Aug. 26, 2023 when we went! The drummer and bass player were my favs! Food and atmosphere was also great. We came to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and they brought him a dessert with a candle. That made the night even more special. We will be back again!!!!

5 Star Rating Smoke is the real deal. There is only one other jazz club (with no restaurant) in NYC that offers such a consistently stellar lineup of superb jazz musicians. Among those we have enjoyed here, to give you a sense of my and my wife’s jazz preferences: Brad Mehldau, George Cables, Joe Farnsworth, Emmet Cohen, Bill Charlap, Billy Hart, Cyrus Chestnut, George Coleman, Vincent Herring, Al Foster . . . the list goes on. On top of the music, the kitchen - run by Paul Stache’s wife and co-owner Molly Sparrow Johnson - produces consistently excellent dinners that are readily a solid notch above other clubs that operate a restaurant. Paul himself is usually in the club, making personally sure everything is running smoothly and chatting with guests and musicians. Laurie, the club’s manager, is always welcoming and making sure the uniformly attentive and friendly staff is in top form. Aside from all that - if you can’t get a ticket (it does occasionally happen), Smoke offers a live streaming option (and excellent CD recording). I am a bit of an audiophile and can assure you the sound quality of Smoke’s on-line streaming service is the best - I’ve listened to them all - as is the camera work. Unless you’re into fusion, funk or other jazz offshoots (nothing wrong with that, just not my cup of tea) and wish to hear great jazz musicians preceded by an excellent dinner in a wonderful atmosphere, this is THE club to patronize. 5 Star Rating I was so looking forward to experiencing my first jazz club. What atmosphere and decor. As soon as you enter, you get a vibe. This club has a history of jazz entertainers. We sat near the back but were not so far where we felt it was too far. The acoustics were great. The servers were attentive and gracious. You should buy your tickets well in advance to ensure a seat. This will be on my list of jazz bars to enjoy again in the future.

5 Star Rating No frills Peruvian/Chinese spot. Food was super on point, the Lomo Salteado was super bomb, and shrimp fried rice that I chose as my side was delicious as well. All of the staff were very attentive and friendly. Will definitely be going back

5 Star Rating Food was fantastic, I love the different the culture mix between Asian and Peruvians dishes. The drinks were great, had the house made lemonade and strawberry lemonade. We went for the Lomo saltado which was amazing. Service was great, I had to stop drinking water because every time I drank from the cup, the waiter would fill. The atmosphere was ok, a little noisy but that’s understandable for the time of place it is. Highly recommended for a delicious Lomo Saltado.

4 Star Rating The prices are a bit expensive but the portions are huge!! I got the lomo saltado and it was a massive portion, enough to eat half there and take home the rest. My partner got another dish (forgot the name) and she also could only finish half, taking home the rest. The service is friendly quick and efficient as well

5 Star Rating Loved loved this place. It was my first time getting Ethiopian food and I thought it was amazing. Got the veggie platter and the spices/seasoning was soo good. The combo together was delicious- really loved the beets complementing the chickpea mix. Everything was wrapped in a type of bread/wrap which has a kind of grainy texture but is very complementary. Got this for take out and 100% would get again. Large portion as we had it for 2 meals.

5 Star Rating A couple of weeks ago after celebrating our 17th Wedding Anniversary at an African drumming circle in Central Park, my husband and I decided to go to one of our favorite restaurants - Awash! (The Manhattan Valley location.) Since 1994 this family owned business has been serving astonishingly delicious food to their fortunate constituency. We decided to dine outside and enjoy the beautiful September evening that graced us.We ordered the Gomen Besiga (lamb with collard greens) the Veggie Sampler and washed it down with an Ethiopian Beer and Honey Wine. For dessert we had Ethiopian coffee, and their decadent rum cake - which was given to us on the house to celebrate the occasion. I highly encourage you to eat here. We are truly privileged to have such world class, authentic Ethiopian cuisine mere blocks from where we live.

5 Star Rating Everything was amazing. The staff were lovely and attentive, and the food was delicious. I thought that I didn't like Ethiopian food until I came to Awash! The restaurant itself was nicely decorated and very comfortable and quiet, so my friends and I were able to have a conversation. This is a great place both for a date or to share a meal with good friends.

5 Star Rating I am a longstanding fan of Cafe du Soleil. They have an extensive menu, and the food is good and well priced for the quality. No one should expect Michelin-star gastronomy, this is solid bistro cuisine, and they do that well. The happy hour is an exceptional value, and I don't know how they make money, but having to be at the (tight) bar does a pretty good job of rationing service, so either come early or be willing to stand. I particularly relish the fact that the staff here are willing to tolerate my terrible French. This is a place I bring my friends and family, and look forward to doing so for a long time to come!

2 Star Rating I'm originally from NY, but have moved to NC. I came back for my grandson, who had heart surgery across the street and was hoping for some really good pizza. This place didn't disappoint - it was really good! What I do have a problem with is bait and switch. Online prices are given, and when you walk in, the prices above, on the board match. I ordered, and what should have been $12+tax, turned out to be $18+tax. When I asked the girl at the register who, "only works here", she added that the actual prices are in their take away menu stacked on the counter. She also added that it was brought up weeks ago by another customer, and it's up to the owners to change the pricing and address the issue, not her. I have no problem with paying for anything that is clearly stated by the establishment whatever it is that they charge. As a consumer, we make choices based on how much, and do we want it? There are hundreds of pizza places - WHY NOT be diligent and up front with your customers? It's deception and poor business. Pizza, good. Pizzeria and customer service, not so good. If ever back in the city, I'll spend my hard earned money on another place that has more integrity and honesty. ☆And, girl at the register, MAYBE suggest patrons look at the actual menu on the counter that's next to the register, with current pricing, and not at the above the counter and online pricing. You work there, do your job!

3 Star Rating Broadway makes a tolerable plain pizza. It isn't particularly bad or particularly good, I'd consider it to be decent. I won't be recommending this place to anyone but if you're looking for a quick slice, I won't say to avoid it. The cheese and sauce didn't really stand out and came across as kinda weak flavored. The dough wasn't half bad but definitely more on the doughier side, which isn't my favorite.

2 Star Rating Service is fine but the pizza has become trash. I moved up here about a month ago and I've tried three pies, two New York style and one margarite. I'm gonna include a picture of the margarita I just got. This thing is a joke. I ate two slices and you can see all the extra sauce that came off. Disgusting. And look at this cheese... It's so rubbery it didn't even melt into the sauce at all. Mad gross and it cost me over $30. Whatever this place did to earn it's reputation in the past, it's Nasty now. UPDATE: look how salty the owners are responding :''') His advice is just to make your own pizza, instead of buying his. We agree on this!

4 Star Rating Very good pizza with generous toppings and a crispy base. Inside the staff are friendly and there is seating at the back. $5 per slice so not the cheapest (and I still like Whole Foods 4 cheese pizza for under $5 for the whole pizza) but for a quick stop when you’re hungry - this place is good to go. They also have a variety of toppings to choose from.
