3 Star Rating Really expected but as much so is my disappointed. I sat down and being said that be right be with me. That didn't happen. She eventually seems to forgot me so I went to the counter. No apologies were there. And I was very quiet and polite. I don't like being otherwise, but it seems in some places it feels like you can step on or forgotten. The food was ok, but luck flavorness in my opinion. Like some lemon or olive oil in the salad, more flavor for the falafel (which was well made actually), the shug wasn't spicy at all.. . I might give the place another chance and hope to be proven differently.

4 Star Rating This is an amazing music venue. Come, drink, dance! The place has really cool and unpretentious vibe. We have not eaten there and they seem to have an interesting menu. However, we watched friends waiting an excruciatingly long time for a food order - the well-meaning kitchen staff seemed totally overwhelmed. This could have been a blip, so see if other reviews support this. Best option seems to be to come very early (before bands come on) to eat or dine elsewhere.

3 Star Rating Went for lunch. Cute place with nice vibe, had to wait a little to get seats at a very wobbly table. Staff was nice and friendly. Part of the reason we came was because we knew they had a gluten free menu, as one of our family members has celiac. He wanted to order the schnitzel, which was listed as GF on the menu, but we double checked it, and it actually wasn't! So he got the salmon salad. He said the salmon was very dry. I ordered falafels - which were very good, and the shakshuka, which I didn't really care for. It was covered in green olives and feta, and I had to dig to find the eggs. The tomato sauce was overly spicy and I left most of it over. The chicken shawarma was too bland, and the fluffy potato chips were ok. Overall, not sure if we will be back, or maybe only to buy something from the cute shop that is in the front area that sells jewelry bags and scarves. Disappointed

5 Star Rating Harlem Tavern is a vibe, if you know you know! We came to celebrate my bestie’s 50th birthday. We had a wonderful time, we enjoyed our food. We enjoyed the music all night long and were able to get our dance on and enjoy ourselves. This place and the bar area gets extremely crowded. I would suggest that you book a reservation in advance to ensure that you get seating. However, if you are at a table, I believe you have to order from the menu. Nice place, nice environment 🫶🏾

3 Star Rating It's a pretty and festive place the asmosphere is good and comfortable. We thought it was strange that they had a minor child being a hostess. The server seemed very unhappy and not attentive. If the service was good I've given the place a five. It was a very busy Saturday afternoon with only two servers. It took 30 minutes to get water, so by the time the server took our orders we were all disappointed with the restaurant. The food was not great, the quality of the food is not worth the high prices. That restaunt has become a fad not like it used to be. I won't go back .

2 Star Rating The chicken and waffles here ended up being 90% waffle, like 10% chicken, which was pretty disappointing. Seriously, it was actually kind of amusing how small the chicken was compared to the size of the waffle. They put the eggs on top at first to cover it up, but it becomes clear once you take the egg off. Other than the tiny chicken, though, this meal wasn't bad. It came with country gravy and two eggs as a side - both of which were decent enough; my eggs were cooked a bit over-hard rather than over-medium, but not too bad. The waffles were really good. While I did have to ask for syrup from the server - it was very dry before that - after the syrup the experience became a lot better. These waffles were nice and thick throughout. The chicken was not good. There was absolutely no crust on the outside - I'm not even sure this was fried chicken; it just seems to have been baked. That certainly is not what one expects with a chicken and waffles dish. Just really bad. It's also just incomprehensible to me why there was a massive amount of a lettuce salad in the middle of this dish. Like why The price is the one thing that's not terrible here, as it cost less than 20 bucks for this plus a mimosa. That's a pretty good deal Overall, I've had a lot of chicken and waffles, but this might be the worst of the bunch. 3.5/10

2 Star Rating My travel companion and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a quick bite and cocktail while we waited for our reservations at Melba’s. Thankfully this was just a stop. Had this been the destination I would’ve been incredibly disappointed the establishment being nearly empty the service was terrible. Bloody Mary 6.5/10 Heavy in the tomato sauce and light on the alcohol. Additionally, there were no additional love or accoutrements to help this beverage taste anything more than like leftovers. Jerk Chicken 7.5/10 Peach Fuzz 1/10 Do not recommend. My date sent it back. Rather my date tried to send it back but the service was so terrible. We ended up holding onto it for about 25 minutes before anyone came to our table to provide assistance. Salmon burger 7.75/10

4 Star Rating The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very welcoming and intimate. You can tell that the menu was very intentional so that every dietary person had more than 2 items to choose from and still enjoy the dinning experience. The only problem was we had to get our appetizer to go 'cause it was taking too long to get and we had already received and ate our entree. I would recommend and dine again.

2 Star Rating Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed that the host was seated on a stool with his back to the entrance. In my opinion, this was unwelcoming, as hosts should be positioned to face the door and greet guests as they arrive. The main dining room was fairly busy, so we were seated in a secondary dining area. Unfortunately, this room was nearly empty and noticeably drafty, which detracted from the overall dining experience. Our server appeared to be new but was polite and attentive. However, there was an error with our order. My uncle specifically requested grilled catfish but was instead served fried catfish. I ordered fried chicken with mac and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes. The chicken was extremely dry, and the mashed potatoes lacked flavor. The mac and cheese, however, had a pleasant texture and was the highlight of my meal. The bill was reasonable for an establishment that is often quite busy on weekends. That said, I would not consider this one of the best soul food restaurants available. It seems that, as with many restaurants that start strong and gain popularity, the quality of the food has declined. This is not a restaurant I would prioritize when recommending places to visitors, as there are better options in the area.

5 Star Rating Nice restaurant, not too big or small. There were two sides, both had seating area but one side had a bar. I tried the jerk oxtails which were small, but seasoned very well and I received a good portion. My son enjoyed the chicken and waffles, which was probably our favorite. The short ribs were also seasoned well, but overcooked. Overall, I enjoyed and would go again.

The Jamaican oxtails were the right decision along with sweet potatoes and greens. The cakes were delicious as well. I appreciated the art work inside. I would definitely go back!

5 Star Rating Wow. This place is everything I wanted. Great music from the past. Cute window private seating. A nice bar and restaurant. Massaiel the bar tender. She was fantastic, kind, and made the best drinks. The lavender lychee Martini and Harlem dandy iced tea drinks may have been the best I’ve had in years. I ordered from the happy hour on Tuesday. It’s all day. The oysters wow. So fresh and delicious. The turnovers were so good we took two orders to go. House made curry vegan turnovers.. the shrimp cevich Outstanding and fresh. The sauce was so good I drank it. The Mac n cheese was like homemade fresh right out the oven. My friend loved the cosmopolitan drink and he rarely drinks. The hummus and plantain fresh n tasty. Cupid to the chef. This was everything right in nyc. The cornbread was moist and perfect sweetness n salt. Bathe jam was telling stories in my mouth.

4 Star Rating There are some clear favorites like the crab cake, squid ink pasta, heart of palm and the Ruby Dee. The whole snapper was fried to perfection but lacked flavor and the hummingbird wings also lacked flavor. To be fair we did deviate from the standard menu by asking for the sauce on the side of the wings. The lobster hash the components were good but it didn’t feel like a cohesive dish. The worst offense was the chocolate cake. We saw them parade the box of Entenmann’s cake to the back(entire cake $5) They proceeded to plate a slice and resell the slice for $12 after adding a raspberry drizzle on the plate.

2 Star Rating There was mold on the cheese in my meal, which was understandably concerning. I appreciate that the kitchen promptly remade the dish. However, I felt the overall guest experience could have been handled with more care. A manager did not come to the table to acknowledge the issue, and there was no follow-up gesture such as a dessert or adjustment to the bill. I was still charged full price for the entrée. I’m sharing this feedback in hopes it helps enhance how food safety concerns are addressed in the future, ensuring guests feel supported and well taken care of.

5 Star Rating The restaurant week menus is 3 course for $45 per person. The portion size is big and food is tasty. For starters we had the salmon fritters, arugula salad; for main we got the branzino and chicken Marsala, both are very good. For dessert there are just two choices: chocolate brownie ice cream or strawberry sorbet. We got both and if you mix the two the flavors are more balanced. Great service as well.

4 Star Rating Overall, Lido is a good spot. Everything is good except the calamari which was just ok. No real flavor. The aioli that comes with it is very good though. The sauce for the salmon is really tasty...a stand out for me with the whole dinner. The creamy garlic bread is a good appetizer. Creamy and a not too crunchy. The branzino is tasty and has crispy skin 👍. Could have more vegetables with it. The Tiramisu and warmy bread pudding for dessert were both good. I'd recommend an extra scoop of ice cream as they give one small scoop. The restaurant is pretty tight. Tables are pretty close together. Hard to get in and out when other diners are next to you. Would definitely return here.

5 Star Rating We went to Lido for lunch the day before Thanksgiving 2025 and I must say the food, service, and atmosphere was outstanding! For appetizers, my cousin and I shared the calamari fritti and my husband had the roasted veal meatballs (he ate them in a NY minute and I missed the photo op...). For the main course we had chicken marsala and spaghetti arrabiata. The cocktails (especially the espresso martini and the strawberry lemon drop) were wonderful! Everything we ordered was excellent! The portions were generous to the point that we had zero room for dessert. So, you get delicious food, great service and a generous meal for the money. It was a lovely dining experience and we look forward to returning next time we visit NYC!

5 Star Rating Last month I proposed to my boyfriend and surprised him with a special dinner at Lido’s where we had our first date. When planning the occasion I reached out to the restaurant for a reservation. I worked with Bianca, the manager on duty. She was extremely accommodating. We originally planned a reservation for 10 which fluctuated to 15 before all was said and done. The staff were incredible and made the dinner feel like the whole night was about our party. Dan was our main server and kept everything running like clockwork. Even though I was the point of contact for the event, the staff made it feel like I was simply one of the guest attending the party. I could not have asked for better. As always, the food and drink were perfect and the atmosphere, charming. I cannot thank Lido’s enough for helping make the evening unforgettable. Can’t wait to see them again.

2 Star Rating The baristas at this particular location are no longer permitted to sell nor give customers a cup of hot water. According to their new store policy, this Starbucks cannot sell nor can they give, any more of their customers, any cup of hot water because (this is a quote) "we don't know what you are going to do with that cup of hot water." They still sell cups of hot coffee though. I think. Actually, I'm not 100% certain because this store's policy appears to be in conflict with the brand's corporate policy. And on days like today when it's 36 degrees and raining freezing rain sideways outside, rest assured that this location of Starbucks just may not sell you a hot beverage because that's apparently no longer the business model of this particular location. Maybe they are switching their focus to the baked goods. Not certain. But just a heads up fellow coffee and tea consumers!

5 Star Rating Consistency is paramount for me, and my initial visit to this Senegalese restaurant "Les Ambassades" in 2021 during a business meeting left an indelible mark with its unforgettable fried rice, setting an unparalleled standard. Revisiting in 2023, 1 found that the restaurant's commitment to excellence remained unshaken, and their lamb dish proved that great things truly come in small spaces. My friends from Florida, sharing this delightful experience, were equally impressed. I eagerly anticipate my next visit at this remarkable restaurant.

2 Star Rating I’ve been coming here since 2013 because they have great food. Unfortunately, the pastries and the food have not been as good. The decline started when they separated the pastry shop from the restaurant area. They increased the price of everything. The pastries taste old. This eclair is soggy but expensive. The chicken is dry. There are less tables, and the tables are sticky. It’s very sad. I remember this place used to always be full of people indoors and outdoors. Their breakfast egg sandwich was unmatched. No longer the case.

4 Star Rating We went for breakfast pastries. Decent croissant and pain au chocolate -- not the best I've had, but not bad. What I didn't appreciate was that out of the 5 cinnamon raisin pastries, he gave me the most burned one. I frankly don't even think that one should have been out for sale.

3 Star Rating Update: I like that they renovated the place. It is brighter and more spacious, but during the winter months, it gets very cold inside as people open the door to come in. I had to keep my coat on. Foodwise, the grilled dibi lamb has remained the best dish on the menu. I do not like that the servers are not consistent with serving the bread and mayonnaise. Service is minimal and quite slow. Review from 3 years ago (4 star rating): this is one of my favorite West African (Senegalese) restaurants in NYC. I love anything "grilled" on the menu. On my last visit, the nems were tasty and the shell perfectly crisp. The pastries are sinfully delicious. However, the shawarma was not good. The pita was too soft. Also, the burger beef patty was dry and tasteless. Just stick with the grilled dishes on the menu. I like the restaurant's ambiance. The owner and servers are very welcoming.

5 Star Rating I was looking for some fresh fish, and vineteria delivered with several fish and seafood options to choose from. On the end, I'm not sure what I ordered, but it was delicious and perfectly prepared. I think it was broiled branzino, but the important thing is that the skin was crispy and good enough to make a meal out of. The flesh was perfectly medium rare, firm and moist. It was served on a bed of rich, creamy mushroom risotto. I had the special cauliflower soup as an appetizer. I just popped in without reservation early on a Friday night. The place was buzzing and pretty full. I could have taken a seat at a long community table but opted for a window seat at the bar so that I could watch street life in the neighborhood. My server had to elbow his way through the bar crowd to get to me, but he was game for the challenge and remained friendly and helpful despite difficulty getting through. Prices are what I would expect for above average food and service. As should be expected from a restaurant named Vineteria, the wine list is well curated with a great variety of interesting wines. In the past, I have had oysters and clams on the half shell. I can recommend them for variety, freshness and presentation.

5 Star Rating One of my favorite restaurants in Harlem and it never disappoints. The black spaghetti with seafood is out of this world. The duck appetizer is to die for. I didn't photo the black spaghetti this time it was my to-go meal but I had the black ravioli with lobster for dinner. Not as good as the spaghetti and needed a couple more pieces but was tasty.

5 Star Rating This is one of the brightest gems among many in Harlem. What a nice place for a cocktail or a quiet dinner. We enjoyed the “Thyme of Your Life” gin cocktail. Tasty sides and dessert to share. We had the carrot and Brussels for side and flan and gelato for dessert. All good. Recommend.

5 Star Rating A great local brunch spot offering delicious dishes with affordable prices. Brunch deal included a drink. The outdoor seating might not be best option during the summer. Indoors can be a bit loud with all the dinfer conversing

5 Star Rating Vinateria strikes a rare balance: refined but relaxed, flavorful without being heavy. We started with wine and shared several dishes, and everything felt fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and well-paced. The grilled octopus was tender and clean-tasting, nicely charred without heaviness. Roasted beets were bright and balanced, and the cauliflower soup was silky and comforting while still feeling light—no post-meal sluggishness here. For dessert, both the affogato and the olive oil cake were excellent: simple, elegant, and just sweet enough to finish the meal on a high note. Service was friendly, attentive, and fast without feeling rushed. We had a reservation, though there were some open tables when we arrived, which added to the easygoing vibe. One small note: for solo diners, the window bar seats, while great for people-watching, aren’t the most comfortable for a longer sit. Still, they’re perfect if you’re popping in for a glass of wine and a dish or two.
