3 Star Rating Your typical Irish Pub/Sports Bar, it's a lot bigger than it looks from the outside. Service is decent, but not anything to really get excited about, and it can get a big crowded in the front when Hunter students stop by. The burgers are tasty, especially the BLT. Be aware that you'll probably have no phone service if you go to the back. Overall, a nice place to grab a drink, especially since there aren't a ton of bars in the area.

3 Star Rating Phoenix is good as a sports bar, but fails as anything else. The staff is super unfriendly to the point of belligerence and disappears for hours. We ended up having to go to the bar for drink and food orders several times. The food is also not great. The wings, while large, were just doused in red hot sauce, leaving them soggy and way too vinegary. The nachos were huge and looked a bit better. Beer selection was average, but nothing special and slightly disappointing for NYC. The only non major brand offered was Lagunitas which isn't exactly a tiny craft shoppe these days. The others were all domestic staples that were not at all exciting. I guess it is supposed to be a traditional Irish pub which is supposed to allow for a rougher atmosphere, but I just found it slightly dirty and sticky. The patrons are not people you'd want to associate with for the most part and a few verbal scuffles broke out toward the end of the night. There are better bars in the area.

5 Star Rating Great Happy Hours, Great Wings(HUGE BTW), Next to a cheap parking garage. Pool table and outside patio are a bonus. Bartenders are always great, Waitresses can be a hit or miss. This was one of my stops during my bachelorette party, The girls working that night paid the bar drunk to molest me via lap dance, good times..good times. Guy below me couldn't sound anymore like a pompous douche.

4 Star Rating I finally had the chance to dine at Daniel for my birthday and we opted for the 5-course prix fixe menu. Canapes: Excellent start. There was a uni bite I really enjoyed, though I wish I remembered the rest—it all went by quickly but set the tone nicely. Maine Sea Scallop Carpaccio: A solid beginning to the courses. The scallop paired beautifully with grapefruit—fresh, light, and delicious. Warm Seafood Fricassee: This one was interesting. It came with small pieces of snail, octopus, squid, mussels, a SINGLE small pieces of lobster, and scallop. The seafood itself was great, though the sauce threw me off—it had a peanut or nutty flavor that didn’t work for me (personal preference, since I’m not a fan of nutty sauces). The squid was also a little chewy. Funny enough, while I was jotting notes on my phone, the waiter came over almost immediately to check in and even offered to replace the dish. I appreciated the attentiveness but decided to keep it. Black Cod: Served with caviar and beluga lentils. The texture of the fish was tender and cooked well, though slightly bland. Pennsylvania Duck: Perfectly cooked—medium and tender—but I wasn’t a fan of the olives embedded in the duck or the pecan sauce, which I felt didn’t complement the dish. Mekonga (Dessert): A dark chocolate dessert with coconut milk jam. I didn’t get much of the coconut flavor, but overall it was a solid, well balanced dessert. They also served freshly baked madeleines at the end, which were decent but not particularly memorable. The chocolate piece with gold flakes looked pretty but didn’t taste special, and the mini coffee macaron was a definite miss for me. At the end of the night, they invited us into the kitchen for a quick look. It was a kind gesture, though there wasn’t much to see—nice touch, but not particularly rewarding… meh… Overall, I’d give Daniel a strong 4 stars. The service was exceptional—though it did slow down once the restaurant got busy, and we ended up waiting almost 30 minutes for dessert. Still, it was a great experience overall. A few dishes could use small tweaks. But, solid

Our Captain was Zach, followed by Serenity. I couldn’t give them a better review. Everyone we encountered was amazing. We highly recommend!

5 Star Rating Daniel is unequivocally one of my favorite fine dining restaurants in New York City, and every visit to Daniel is an indulgent journey into high-level gastronomy. I always choose the eight course tasting menu, and my two standout favorites over the years are their New York foie gras and Maine sea scallops, each bite exquisitely crafted. Every course arrives as a work of art, beautifully plated, deeply flavorful, and thoughtfully paced. It is the literal definition of culinary artistry and fine dining. The experience is elegant from start to finish. The service is polished yet warm, and the dining room is refined with coffered ceilings, sparkling chandeliers, and understated sophistication. Though the pricing is high, with the eight course menu running around $295 to $300 per person, for NYC standards this is absolutely worth it, especially if you are celebrating a special occasion or just want to splurge on truly memorable food. What saddens me is that Michelin currently rates Daniel at only one star, a puzzling demotion for a restaurant that consistently delivers excellence in execution and creativity. Daniel previously held two Michelin stars, and before that even three, which makes this latest rating feel like an injustice. Despite Michelin’s concerns about inconsistency, to me Daniel remains a gem, a place where passion for seasonal French cuisine meets meticulous presentation, and where each course showcases top tier ingredients like foie gras and scallops at their peak. Every visit reaffirms why it remains one of the finest and most reliable dining experiences in New York. In short, it is expensive, but absolutely worth it. If you are looking to celebrate or treat yourself, Daniel never disappoints.

5 Star Rating I really enjoyed my time at Daniel last night. The restaurant has a lot of history and it's a really beautiful restaurant. The bar is amazing too. My server gave perfect service and I wish him the best. The presentation of the dishes were extremely creative like a work of art. Many 3 star restaurants don't have such creativity and presentation to their dishes. I really enjoyed the rabbit dish and the lamb saddle. The sauces paired with both of these dishes were amazing. I also enjoyed their array of breads to choose from as well as the cheese tray add on. That was excellent. Overall, I recommend coming to Daniel for an excellent meal, service, and a memorable experience. I've been to around 50 Michelin star restaurants so I can compare this restaurant to others. I think this restaurant is definitely worth a visit as it sets its self apart from other Michelin star restaurants.

5 Star Rating While visiting NYC recently, wanted to experience fine dinning that was quintessentially New York. In my research, Daniel came highly recommended I have had some really amazing fine dinning experiences in my local area of Australia and New Zealand but Daniel is at another stratospheric level of fine dinning. I am so glad that I actually had the opportunity to visit My first night's experience of the delightful Mushroom Consommé followed by the Wagyu Beef and finished off with the Fig + Cheese Cake dessert was so incredible, I had to come back a second night to try their other delectable offerings When I asked at the end of the first night if they were able to seat me the following night, the team was amazing and found me a spot The second night was just as phenomenal with the Scallop Carpaccio, Blue Fin Tuna and Moroccan Chocolate The service both nights was warm, welcoming and so personable which I so appreciate. The atmosphere was beautifully elegant. The food was at its own divine level of taste, textures and creativity A big thank you to Daniel, Brian, Peter, Alan, Jorje, Matthew and the greater Daniel team for making me feel so welcome and the whole experience at Daniel - both nights so amazing. I do look forward to being back at Daniel soon

5 Star Rating BELIEVE ME WHEN I TELL YOU, this place is a GEM💎. It's an Italian restaraunt with an amazing atmosphere with comfortable outside seats and couches. I got the penne with veal ragú and it was DELICIOUS. The meat with the pasta and parsley was the best pasta I've had in a while . Sadly I forgot to take a picture but I did get one of a grapefruit mocktail and their chocolate lava cake. I also got raspberry sorbet it was really good. The sweetness with the cold of the sorbet really made me happy and I left feeling satisfied. Plus this is close to Central Park so after a good run you can come here and have a great meal.

5 Star Rating We had a fantastic time here after attending an event at Asia Society. The lobster spaghetti which was the specialty of the night was topnotch with generous portions of lobster. The brunello wine was velvety and full-bodied which I greatly enjoyed. My friends got the crab and shrimp pasta which they also loved. Desserts were surprisingly good, light yet decadent. Lastly, service was impeccable with the most dedicated staff. Bravo!

4 Star Rating Coffee was great! I would definitely recommend a hot latte with pistachio syrup. Their pumpkin spice latte was also pretty good. The food was good but not amazing. We shared three dishes. The squash and goat cheese toast was our favorite. Had a great flavor profile. The mini danish pancakes were delicious but I expected more to come with the price. I was very excited for the mushroom gruyère quiche and it arrived to our table cold. The flavor was still good and I'm sure this would have been a favorite if it arrived warm. The overall vibe was cozy and comfortable. I saw one or two people sitting with their laptops so seems they are laptop friendly. It was a lovely brunch and I would come here again but order differently.

3 Star Rating The place is beautiful. I just think they should not use “false advertisement” for the summer drinks. I ordered the strawberry matcha based on the picture and what I got was completely different (looks like artificial strawberry cream in the bottom that do not mix with the matcha, weird!). The cheese danish was good and the classic music is VERY nice and calming! Place with potential and room for some improvements.

5 Star Rating There are 3 small stairs down to the front door (I’m sure there is a handicap accessible ramp somewhere but just wanted to point it out). We dined for brunch at the outdoor patio (there’s also a space heater if needed) and street dining. The inside looked beautiful and opens to bar top seating and then dining area. We had great service but expect really pricey coffee ($7-9) and entrees ($40pp after tip without coffee). We shared 2 dishes and both were very delicious! The eggs benedict ($27) was cooked perfectly with a rich hollandaise. I asked for the home fries cooked well done and they were absolutely crispy and lightly seasoned to perfection! The portion of the thick cooked bacon was generous. The macro Bowl ($35) was very filling with a creamy tahini dressing. The dish is presented deconstructed but forms a great bowl when mixed together! I would definitely come here if the dishes were just $10 less but a great experience overall!

4 Star Rating This review should be more like 4.5 stars. I love that it is inside an old brownstone - it makes it extremely charming. The bar area js very nice, and the restaurant is cozy with nice surroundings. We loved the music they played on a Saturday evening, it was not too loud and not too faint. The music selection was great. Drinks were great too, and the food was very good. We started with the burrata and the squid, and both were tasty. Small portions, but they’re the appetizers. For dinner, we ordered the Truffle Pappardelle and the Grilled Pork Chop. Both were excellent, and we did enjoy it. Portions were on the small side for dinner as well, especially the Pappardelle. It was homemade pasta, and I truly appreciate a good homemade pasta. Can’t remember what we ordered for dessert, as it was a month ago that we dined here. All in all, we enjoyed our meal and our experience here, but felt it was priced a little too high. Having said that, we would come back, but it would not be a regular restaurant for us.

3 Star Rating I recently had brunch here and was quite underwhelmed. Service was fine, atmosphere was great, but my party was disappointed in the food. The pumpkin bread was good and my wife raved about the shakshuka, but 3 out the 4 of us thought our dishes were fairly bland and unexciting. I was really disappointed in my French omlette, I get that the eggs are very lightly cooked, but the spinach in it was just this wet watery mass that left a puddle of spinach water on my plate. It was just not very flavorful. My companions did not like their egg white fritada or their huevos rancheros. Also if you're going to charge $7 for drip coffee you should offer some refills. I get this place is a bit nicer than a corner diner but still, I dont care how nice the beans are, it's just the right thing to do.

5 Star Rating Do not hesitate, this restaurant is truly one of the best restaurants in New York City. Wherever you are in Manhattan, I would urge you to travel here.. not necessarily because it has the fanciest menu or the best decor, but because it just has really really good food with some of the best staff I have ever experienced. I visited here with my dog who is blind, they have an indoor and outdoor seating area. Every person was so lovely and accommodating and friendly and the food and drinks were absolutely delicious. I had a cocktail that was so delicious they ended up ordering another one, not because I wanted it but because it was just so tasty. I went really simple with lunch and had a grilled cheese with tomato soup, this was like the best grilled cheese and tomato soup that has ever existed. Everything was homey and comforting and the staff really made the experience what it was.

The whitefish was clean tasting, fresh, and flaky. It wasn’t too salty, either. It came with red onion slices, sliced tomatoes, lettuce, capers and black olives. It also came with cream cheese, but it was delicious without it. Overall, it was a great deli/restaurant. The only one thing less than perfect was that it took more than an hour to deliver to an address 4 blocks away. We placed our order at 1pm, and we didn’t get our food until 2pm. Everything else was great. I would definitely go back again, but probably go pick it up myself or eat in there next time.

5 Star Rating Having spent 2 days in NYC, travelling from the UK, I was recommended a trip to PJ Bernstein. Not only is this the third oldest deli in the city, Steve, Eugene and all the staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating. Beyond this, I can categorically say that I had one of the best sandwiches I’d ever eaten. The pastrami was mind-altering whilst the triple delight soup was something I now wish I had at home! The only qualm I have; I did not have the time nor the stomach large enough to try everything they have to offer. Highly recommended from me!

5 Star Rating Real New York, old school Jewish deli. They’ve got all the classics, including my favorite: kasha varnishkes and knishes, plus vegetable soup. The soup was hearty, the right amount of salt and a tasty broth with chunks of veggies. The knish had a great texture and flavor (though was a little overpriced when compared to Zabar’s excellent offerings). It’s worth the trip for the kasha varnishkes which tasted just like my grandma’s and brought back all the old inner happiness. The vibe is relaxed, friendly, and service is fast. I’m not a meat-eater but they offered all the classic meat deli dishes including matzah ball soup, liver, various sandwiches and all the yummy side dishes you’d expect. Great spot for brunch or for bring home a fest for visiting family!

5 Star Rating Came here for brunch, was seated quickly. My partner and I both had the eggs Benedict (classic and salmon) and we really enjoyed it! The sauce was amazing, flavors was on point. The guest I was with had the scrambled eggs and they said it was great!

5 Star Rating Stopped in for a late lunch. Got promptly taken care of at host stand. Our waiter immediately paid attention to outperform table, service was personal & very professional. Shared a frisée salad, and each had an entree sized classic steak tartar. Both dishes were superb! The experience was truly delightful from beginning to end. Decor a bit tired. Highly recommended.

4 Star Rating A great place for a warm cozy meal! Service was outstanding. Well organized and fast a great crew! Food was very good. For me the goat cheese tart was my favorite. The steaks we had were ok but the knives were sooo dull that cutting them was a real chore. Beef bourbon was not as complex as it could be, Julia would be not happy. French onion soup very tasty and for desert the profiteroles were outstanding. The menu lacks the classic french flair but overall a good meal.

5 Star Rating I was visiting a friend at a nearby hospital and after leaving wanted to treat myself to a wonderful steak dinner. A quick search brought me to Brasserie Cognac. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted and brought to a seat. I felt welcomed from the first interaction. I was brought some water and bread with their delicious butter. I saw Escargot on the menu and couldn't remember if I had ever tried it so I ordered that as a starter. It paired well with the buttery garlic crostini and had a nice bite to it. For my main course, I ordered the filet mignon (cooked to perfection at medium rare) which came with mashed potatoes and gravy, and I substituted Brussels sprouts for the asparagus. I had a pleasant Malbec to go with my steak. The filet mignon was delicately seasoned, moist, tender and went well with the potatoes and gravy. The Brussels are standard and delish. I ended my meal with a tasty Crème Brulée that I enjoyed very much. I was grateful for my server offering suggestions from the menu and being attentive throughout my experience. I would definitely come back to try more of the menu. #itsfoodovereverything

5 Star Rating Great service and delicious food. My friend and I had the avocado toast, kale quinoa salad, and crème brûlée. Their Sauv Blanc is the perfect amount of sweet!
