There’s something sacred about dim sum that’s made by hand. Each pleat, fold, and tuck carries generations of tradition. And at Jing Fong, nestled in the heart of Chinatown since the 1970s, that tradition is still alive and steaming.
They’ve been serving all the dim sum staples, but with one key difference: every dumpling is handmade—not machine-stamped or factory-frozen. A team of 15 seasoned dim sum and kitchen chefs, each with years of muscle memory, shape every har gao and siu mai with practiced precision.
On this visit, we ordered the classics: har gao, siu mai, chicken feet, fun gaw, rice rolls, bean curd pork rolls, and spareribs. The beef cheung fun was perfectly rolled (not scraped) silky, slick, and just chewy enough. Each bite delivered that nostalgic, springy bounce. We also had to try the pineapple BBQ pork bun, and it could definitely give Mei Lai Wah a run for its money: fluffy, warm, lightly crisp on top, and stuffed with sweet-savory char siu. The best part? No long line. My favorite was the salted egg yolk bun, served steaming hot, with a rich, golden custard that oozed out in decadent delight.
The beef chow fun was textbook wok hei. Smoky, not oily, and gone in minutes. And the salt and pepper squid? Lightly battered, crisp, with just a hint of hot pepper and five-spice. You could tell they used fresh oil by the light, clean color of the fry. We were also recommended the double crispy fried rice, a popular item with a clever spin on tradition. Crunchy, flavorful, and a surprising highlight of the meal.
There’s a quiet sadness though. As delicious as everything was, you can’t help but wonder how long this artistry will last. The next generation doesn’t seem eager to learn the craft, and places like Jing Fong are few and far between. I hope the current owner finds a way to preserve both the food and the spirit behind it—because this isn’t just lunch. It’s Hong Kong on a plate. It’s history. And it deserves to stick around.

Best dumplings EVER!!! Melted in my mouth and the service and atmosphere was top notch, looking forward to a return visit very shortly, few miles walk from Central Park.

Delicious Dim Sum in the UWS. Convenient for location and want to eat Dim Sum. I love my collagen (Chicken Feet)!
Vera Quill - 5 months ago
Guess my previous review got deleted…I’ll try and make this one more, PC.
Is this the best dum sum on the UWS? I guess, not like there’s many options. Their dumplings are consistently good.
The other options on the UWS are fancier, not as dated but you will pay even more $$$. We mostly order dim sum, Their noodles are also solid but outside of those two areas it’s- hit or miss.
Yes, it’s $$$ than Chinatown but it’s the price you pay for not having to leave the neighborhood and still getting decent Cantonese dishes.
Destination? Only for those on the westside from the 70s to Inwood.
Outdoor dining is available, weather permitting, bring the puppy! Bonus.

Delicious and super cute spot for brunch with friends or family. Service is super quick once you get your table; however, it does get a little crowded near the host stand, even if you have a reservation. Their popovers are a must have and their omelettes are super fresh. Would definitely come back again.

Sarabeth’s is the sparkling treasure of the Upper West Side! The staff are so loving and attentive, the space is gorgeous, and the food is always perfection! We recently went for a special get together and had the best time! This is my go-to brunch spot. Go to there!

We had late breakfast here. It was a nice atmosphere and the food was good. Some glasses were not really clean, but other than that the service was nice.

This is a great place to have brunch on the weekends and enjoy it with family or friends.
The dishes are well served and very tasty, the recipe for the riccota lemon pancakes is a bit different than the first time I tried them, maybe less moist, but still good flavor. About the place, it is a classic NY place, however, they could take better care of the bathrooms.
The attention and service of the waiter who served us stands out; very friendly and willing to answer questions and make recommendations (essential when you have children with you).
In general, a pleasant experience.

The wings here are good (if you get a fresh batch), but at $20 for a regular order they are really pushing the limits of pricing.

Wings 10/10 ! Fried to perfection and tossed in a spicy sauce. Fried onions were nice and crispy. Margarita was shaken properly. Seemed like a nice lowkey place with good service.

Ordered the wings (free delivery bc I’m a few blocks away) from here twice and they were great each time. The first time I ordered sweet potatoe fries and they came out crispy and the second time (today) they were horrible. They were hot, wet, soggy and also burnt at the same time. In the photo you can see the amount of condensation and it only took the person who delivered the food 5-7 min from pickup to drop off.

It's a very kindly and local place to see your sports. It serves beers and wings with some sides. The wings was very nice but not the best I have ever ate. The stuff was great and polite!!

Pretty good. I've eaten here many times and today's time wasn't the best. Odd thing is I ordered wings and they came out kinda thin looking and weren't hot. The guy next to me also ordered wings and his were super plump and steaming when they came out.

Sometimes there is a bit of a wait on the weekends but this and the other location on Lexington is my favorite brunch in the city. Service is always quick and kind.
Stick with the South Indian classics and you can’t go wrong!
Dosas, chutneys, and sambar are consistently well executed and have great flavor. The potato filling is also excellent.
Some favorites: chili onion Rava dosa, Masala dosa, potato bonda, onion bajji, and mini idli 🧡 great for vegans - everything is clearly labeled !

I’ve been here many times over the years and always have a great experience. The food is delicious, the best Indian in NYC.
I felt compelled to leave a review after coming with my partner earlier this week, we tried to order 3 dishes to share and our server told us that was too much food and we should just choose 2. I just thought that was amazing- he cared more about our experience and about not wasting food more than cared about upselling us and getting a higher bill/tip out of us. Highly recommend!

This place is always packed but table service or bar service is always excellent. They treat you right. The wings are big and bountiful. The burgers are great and really good drinks. I wasn’t impressed with the quesadillas though. Not enough filling.

The service was excellent. Very friendly. Great beer selection. Probably one of the worst pizzas I’ve ever had, and I lived in Los Angeles. Clearly some kind of pasta sauce with an inch layer of cheese. It was either cheese or crust. Couldn’t have both. Would come back to drink but definitely not to eat.

Very busy, fairly unremarkable bar/restaurant that’s been around for many years. Decent drinks, beer and food. Bartenders not so communicative. Food was okay but not terrific. Three bathrooms, which was nice; no waiting. Asked to pay cash, but by the time I got back from the bathroom a different bartender had already swooped up and charged by credit card. Extra 3%. No big deal, but still…

Nelson, are barkeep/bartender; was super attentive and great all around. If ever in Manhattan again, will be coming back to this spot.

We’re not vegan but stopped in for a healthy lunch and were so glad we did! The chickpea fries, tofu dumplings, sweet potato pie, and quinoa salad were all delicious. Everything was super flavorful and satisfying without feeling too heavy. Great coffee and smoothies too! Perfect spot for vegans and non-vegans. Highly recommend!

Terrific food. My favorite is quiche with vegan cashew cheese. Comes with a green salad with pieces of apple, pear, orange which beautifully refreshes the yummy quiche. Huge variety of cakes. My favorite is lime cake. Music in the background is easy jazzy music and not interfering if you come for a chat meeting.

Absolutely loved this place. We came to NYC just to try some vegan restaurants and this one was the highlight. The biscuits are fantastic!! We took some home for breakfast the next day and they still tasted good the next day. The pan seared "steak" was very good, and the side of green beans was good as well, especially since I'm not a huge green bean fan. We had a strawberry shortcake scone and it was so tasty. Server was very kind. Loved the sign that advocates for fur free living.

This was my first time at this location. The menu seems to be identical to the downtown location. The food was good but I like the downtown location better - this one is much smaller, pretty loud and felt cramped since the tables are so close to each other.
We had soups, sandwich, rice bowl and chocolate cake. Very nice and the cake wasn’t overly sweet, just right.

Great Vegan spot - mac & cheese was great, and I was told the Sushi, Chili, Wanton soup and impossible burger were also great. My only complaint is that the salads weren't so fresh

Lively sports bar with good service and polite staff. The prices are affordable, making it a great spot to hang out. They also have a speakeasy downstairs, where I attended a private event. It’s a pretty cool space with an exposed original brick ceiling, adding to the charm.

My old stomping grounds as a young buck ten years ago/ haven’t been here in so long. The visit was nostalgic with a fresh twist. Good crowd, attentive staff and incredible music play list.
Alex the bartender was so hospitable and truly a breath of fresh air for the way bartenders in NYC go.
Google reviews used to not be a thing, and that’s why I’m making sure to give five stars.

I visited Jake's Dilemma for my Nephews Graduation/Going away event. The bar was lively when I arrived, The back section was reserved for our group. The catered finger foods that were served were good and the drinks (Open Bar) were even better..😜🥃

We (group 4) walked in and were the only people in the bar. They were playing Disney music really loud, we asked to turn it down (as we were the only customers) which the bar maid did…but then sneakily turned it back up again a few minutes later. We ordered 4 draft beers which were only ‘cool’ not ‘cold’ and didn’t taste great either.
The wings we ordered were good…that’s the only thing that got these 2 stars.
All in all, not a great experience.

We stumbled upon this restaurant one Saturday evening. The place was empty although they’re located on a very busy strip. We decided to give them a try anyways. The staff were pleasant. The restaurant is small. There are no high chairs. The calamari was great. My toddler tried it for the first time and she loved it so that says alot. It was the perfect level of crunchiness and flavor. They serve it with a sauce that’s filled with nuts. That was “different”. It was literally more nuts than sauce lol idk. Didn’t care for that ! The thai iced tea comes in a cute cup. Loved that. The Thai fried rice was very bland. Like, almost no seasoning. I decided to try something differnt than what I usually go for and so I had the duck in red curry with tomorrow’s and lychee. The presentation was nice. It came with a side of white rice. I liked the duck. Surprisingly the fresh lychee also tasted good in a meal like this. The red curry was way too potent for me. Didnt get past 3 spoonfuls.
