4 Star Rating The food was pretty good. We ordered from the happy hour menu. The shrimp tacos were not the best. It was a tempura shrimp with a soft tortilla shell but that tortilla was hard and kinda stale. The taco is meant to be spicy but I got the spicy sauce on the side due to my battle with acid reflux. The taco left much to desired for $10 for 2 so I would try something different next time. The staff here has always been courteous and accommodating. The wings are my favorite. I wish you could order 2 portion sizes because I wanted more after these were done because they are so tasty. We also got an onion tower not pictured here but it was delicious nonetheless just make sure you eat it while it’s hot.

4 Star Rating Hit on their Happy Hour 3-6pm and after 9pm so the menu is limited. The $4 Brooklyn Pilsner was perfect for a summer afternoon. The cheeseburger sliders were a bit on the too well done side. The spinach artichoke dip was just ok; the chips were not fresh (not stale, just not fresh). For value, I would return again but would try different items or try their lunch menu. Service was great. Aidewalk dining available. Aug 2024

4 Star Rating This is a pretty standard American place. Their food selection is fair, but their happy hour deals and creative cocktails are better. There is a relatively spacious dining room and it seemed family-friendly. No stairs, so this place seemed generally wheelchair accessible. Overall, will likely bring friends here for the happy hour again!

5 Star Rating Stopped in for a light bite and to get out of the sweltering heat. Second time as it has become our must-have when we visit NYC. Sat at the bar and did the lunch special “Pick 3”. One crispy rice cake, one taco and one roll. Did not disappoint! Had Truffle Avocado cake, Ahi Tuna Taco and Salmon/Avocado roll and a couple chilled glasses of Hess Chardonnay. Thoroughly enjoyed this meal. Servers were friendly, prompt and attentive. Place was clean and nice and cool. Highly recommend 5 Napkin Burger.

3 Star Rating I was debating between the truffle burger and the chicken and pancakes, when my waiter recommended the latter and it was a very very sad dish, to say the least. You can even tell by the picture. The skin was soft and mealie, and lacked any sort of flavor. However, the kale salad was delicious and the service was great! I’m guessing the issue was likely with this one dish, I’ll come back and try their burgers.

5 Star Rating I only had three bagels in New York, but this was easily the best one. The pastrami smoked salmon was also delicious, but it's the pickle that came with my sandwich that I'm still thinking about two weeks later. Will I ever have a pickle as good? Should I have emptied my suitcase of belongings and filled it with pickles, instead? I'll be back someday. Wait for me, pickles.

Located in the UWS, the grandson of the original owner will greet you at the cash register (remember is cash only) with a smile and a nice word!! Totally worth it, for some of us is the best comfort food and time travel we can have!

5 Star Rating Absolutely phenomenal. The food is all top notch. The staff is really efficient and really knowledgeable and helpful. Some restaurants it seems like the staff has never eaten there. Here, our server knew all about the different fish on the menu and made some helpful recommendations. I was also impressed with the logistics. They do a great job of making the most out of the space, and seating and serving people quickly.

4 Star Rating 4/14/2024 Took a friend her for her birthday and we loved the the atmosphere is great the staff is wonderful and helpful its just and all around get place to eat. I will say definitely make reservations because the place is usually crowded. The servings are huge because they serve family style, which means one plate is meant to feed at least 4 ppl. We all order separate dishes and shared then of course we had more than enough to bring home for lunch or what have you.. i loved everything for the most part i ordered the meatballs they were very good i just didnt like the texture of the meat ut was like they took patte and formed a meatball but it was very good and for dessert i got the strawberry shortcake the only issue i had with that was the cake was brushed with coffee i could have done without that but they dont do too many accommodations but i will say they did bring it to me not put together because i didnt want all the whipped cream that came on it.. The cesar salad, calamari and the other items we ordered was great we will definitely be back.. The meals arent expensive for the amount of food you get per order either..

5 Star Rating We had a reservation for 4 people at 1pm which we made 4 days in advance. We sat outside with a dog. They had heat lamps. We really enjoyed the food and the service. The Shakshouka and the baked eggs were similar with the baked eggs not being spicy. The avocado toast was fresh, with the eggs it made it filling. The steak and eggs were good, however we asked for it medium and it was closer to rare. Still tasted good. It took a bit to get the check but overall a great spot for brunch especially if you bring a dog. Bathrooms were nice and clean

3 Star Rating Food 5/10 So many people have raved about this hidden gem on the UWS. I checked it out for a friend’s birthday, and unfortunately the only thing I enjoyed was the tiramisu, which was actually super solid. The vongole was quite bland, lacked bounce, and the clams did not taste very fresh. The quattro pizza was also quite dry and brick hard, not particularly appetizing. Atmosphere 6/10 Seating was a bit cramped and it was also quite hot inside. Service 7/10 Cash only! Very friendly home-style service.

3 Star Rating Food here isn’t above and beyond but isn’t bad for the price. We had a few plates for sharing including the sampler, I mostly liked their labne + cheese filled filo dough along with their fresh baked bread, the issue was that they did not bring enough for the table. Also had the eggplant baylidi which was flavorful. Their kofte wrap had no flavor what so ever it does not even taste like kofte. The fries taste like fast food restaurant fries, and the ketchup that came with the fries had way too much sugar in it. Lentil soup was decent.

5 Star Rating Usually the people native to the cuisines are most picky about their cuisine. I challenged Bodrum Brunch to the test by brining my Turkish friend here to testify their authenticity. In short, Bodrum excelled most of the parts. For starters, they don’t have the Turkish tea but they do have the Turkish wine, which is off-menu but you have to know the name to ask. That was the secret-only-to-Turkish thing I guess. My friend and I shared the complimentary bread with EVOO, Shakshuka, Sigara Borek, and Mucver. We also had Turkish coffee at the end of the meal. The complimentary bread is still hot and puffy when it came to the table! Super stretchy inside with lots and lots of bubbles. The evoo was excellent in flavor, simply dipping is enough for indulgence. (My friend and I both think maybe Turkey and Greece have the best olive oil farms as they are close and Greek Mythology states that Athena bestowed the Olive Tree to Athens in Greece.) Sigara Borek: The crispy filo pastry filled with parsley and French feta. It is not heavy as you would imagine when you think it is fried filo. It is incredibly crunchy on the exterior with a super creamy aromatic center. Very homey to my Turkish friend. I doubted about the parsley as I tasted dill more than parsley, but the aroma was very satisfying so I don’t complain about the mismatch. Mücver: The zucchini patties with feta, dill, and scallions, with a side of yogurt sauce. If you like scallion pancakes from Asian cuisines, you will definitely love this one. Simple and delicious. The patties almost have a mochi texture to it, alongside with the savory content. The yogurt sauce is light and added a bit of tangy to the patty’s aroma. Great dish for not-so-heavy-but-still-craves-savory brunch eaters. Shakshuka: The only dish I think I had better. It is a classic dish with baked eggs in tomato sauce, cumin, garlic and cubes of halloumi cheese. The eggs are a bit overdone as the yolks wasn’t as runny as I wished. The tomato sauce with the spices have a kick, but flavors are less complex to the ones I had before (if you have been to Boston area please try Tarte’s Shakshuka). Still a good dish, but not great. Turkish coffee: The coffee part is essential to wrap up the meal, as well as fortune telling with the coffee grinds. The coffee is very thick, and very strong. It is bitter but not acidic (which I dig!!!), and when I get to the bottom of the cup it was almost paste like. We did the whole ritual of rotating the cup 3 circles, flip it on the cup holder, wait until it is cooled, and see the cup interior sides for motifs. Interesting activity to do with your friends. (On my cup I saw trees and a thoughtful person 🤣) I recommend this place initially because my bestie’s boyfriend is also Turkish, and Bodrum is their staple for dinners. Heard greats things about kebabs, lamb shank, and tagines (though the latter isn’t technically Turkish lol).

2 Star Rating 2.5 stars for the food, but 3 stars overall because the service was good. Servers were nice snd fast. We tried the Chicken Omelette, Steak and Eggs, Pancakes with chocolate chips, and Waffle with strawberries. - The Chicken Omelette was really bland. The home fries that came with them were completely unseasoned. The only flavor came from the chicken chunks in the omlette. The omelette itself tasted oddly watery, maybe from the larger tomato chunks in it. Really not worth ~$19. I remember getting the same thing from Manhattan Diner, their sister restaurant, and liking it there, so I wanted to try it in this location, but it was so unappetizing. Just thinking about it makes me lose my appetite. - The Steak and Eggs were really bland too, but the steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare. - The pancakes weren't bad, but I thought the price for $3.95 per topping was a bit steep. Pancakes were soft and fluffy -- a bit undercooked though if I had to nit pick. The chocolate chips were embedded into the pancakes and gave a nice crispy to some of the edges of the pancakes. I think this was the only thing that tasted good. - The waffle was okay. It wasn't crispy at all and was a little undercooked as well. It smelled sweeter than it tasted. Overall, really didn't enjoy my dining experience here. The lighting was really dim, and the whole place smelled like I was in an airplane. One cashier/host kept coughing into his hands and walking around and touching everything, which made me lose my appetite even more. For the price, the food really wasn't good. I had a better experience at Manhattan Diner, which has the exact same menu.

The service was thoughtful, attentive, and timely. Khan took care of us and made our night! He gave us complimentary Indian beer because we had never tried it before. And when we took our food home he gave us extra rice and rice pudding for free!! The most special part was the kindness Khan showed us, letting us know that if there was ever a time where we couldn’t afford food, Indian Tanpura would always be there with a warm meal. We left that night with full, satisfied bellies and warm hearts! This is my new favorite neighborhood spot, and new friend.

Reviews

5 Star Rating Probably the best Starbucks I’ve been to. Extremely spacious, with about 19 seats. Staff working efficiently, while being kind & courteous. There’s a bathroom available & of course WiFi. I don’t drink coffee, but I did have some tea, wasn’t anything special. This’ll be my new spot to work & chill in.

5 Star Rating I walk past this starbucks every single day! I go in a lot and have gotten nothing but the best service. The staff is super friendly and helpful! The service is mostly quick, on busy hours it takes about 5-8 minutes to get the coffee, but they apologize for the wait and make sure the drink was perfectly made.

5 Star Rating I haven’t had starbucks in a long time, and I was scared the drink wouldn’t be as good as I remember, but the barista Melvin made it per-fect! It was fast service, a great drink all served with a smile. Truly one of the best Starbucks experiences I have ever had !

2 Star Rating Music is way too loud. Difficult to get any work done or have a conversation. Ample seating is available but not an idea work environment. Would prefer quieter coffee house style music, not club rave.
