My husband celebrated my birthday at One if by Land, Two if by Sea, and it felt like discovering a secret tucked away in the heart of New York.
The location itself is so mysterious — hidden down a quiet cobblestone street, behind a beautiful old facade that feels like a portal to another world. Inside, the candlelight, soft piano music, and garden views created a setting that was intimate, elegant, and absolutely timeless.
We were seated at the perfect corner table near the piano bar. To my left, a beautiful garden view framed the evening with even more charm. It felt so private and romantic — as if the city had disappeared for a night, just for us.
The food was exquisite. Every dish was gorgeous and full of flavor. The Beef Wellington was divine — truly one of the best we’ve ever had. And the champagne? Effortlessly luxurious and so celebratory.
The service was flawless, warm, and genuinely thoughtful. They made my birthday feel incredibly special, with every detail handled with care.
A magical evening in a place that feels hidden, timeless, and full of love. Truly one of the most romantic dining experiences in the city — or anywhere🤍🤍🤍

Such an incredible evening at an incredible restaurant! The staff, atmosphere, food, wine and cocktails are all perfection. Our waiter Michael was so kind and attentive to us. He even went above and beyond to give us a little tour of some of the other spaces in the venue. Kirk was so knowledgeable with the wine pairing which made the whole experience extra special and Nicky was delivering the best bread we’ve ever had with a smile on his face. We felt so welcomed and warm at this restaurant. Absolutely recommend. We can’t wait to go back!!

My husband and I went back for our anniversary. We had one of our first dates here 30+ years ago. Food, service and atmosphere still terrific! We had the chef’s menu which was a perfect tasting of their best dishes. You cannot eat here without having the beef Wellington!

If I could give 10 stars I would happily do so. The restaurant it’s top notch. They have a beautiful bar area with seating for dining if you like. The restaurant lighting is perfect to set a romantic mood with a pianist playing entertaining music. We are from their price fixe menu and it was an excellent meal. For starters we had the Foie Gras and the tempura squash blossom. The tempura squash blossom was stuffed with lobster and crab meat. It was so good. For our entrees I had the beef Wellington and my girlfriend had the duck. Both were cooked perfectly and the playing was perfect. An excellent meal. To end our dinner the dessert course cosiste of cremé brûlée, and tiramisu. The tiramisu was served in a way I have never had it before. It was covered by a chocolate top and the filling was so velvety smooth. So Good!!! The waiter was excellent, offering suggestions and well versed with the menu. They took care of all our dining needs. We highly recommend this place.

Such a romantic spot! I love the real candle light. We did the Chef's tasting menu and wine pairing which was delicious. You will not leave hungry! I loved the scallops. Perfect for a date night, anniversary or birthday celebration.

The place was good. Ended up sharing a platter with two friends and it was more than enough to go around. The tacos were good. For the area, the price was reasonable. Service was quick and we didn’t feel hurried.

The best taco shop in the entire West Village, maybe even best in southern Manhattan. Amazing food, drinks, atmosphere and service.
Hands down the best steak tacos I have had in any borough. Every time I have eaten here it has been an absolute delight. They even have a $20 happy hour special: Three tacos and a drink and it's well worth the price!
Angel works Monday through Thursday and makes the best Mango Margarita (frozen and straight) I have ever tasted. A hidden gem of the West Village that deserves way more credit than it's given.

Brunch is the way to go here. The menu is exactly the same as dinner, and you get to pick and choose all the food you would ever want to try for $20 for 90 minutes. For an additional $16, you can have unlimited drinks. We came on St Patrick’s Day where they colored their margaritas green. Service was impeccable and prompt, and all the food was delicious. We had all of the tacos, tamales, and quesadillas. Don’t forget dessert. The churros are a must!

Absolutely wonderful place. The host (I didn’t get her name) is on top of it! We stopped by last minute just looking for a place to eat after our son’s piano recital close by. We asked if there was seating, was told it was a wait and we walked outside just kind of not knowing if to wait or not. She came outside and followed up with us and reassured us it would not be too long and she would seat us as soon as possible. Other restaurants would have just let us walk away. The service was impeccable! At one point I dropped by napkin and by the time I picked it up, someone was already placing another one on the table! What!? And BTW, yes you can seat on that upper area that overseas the whole dining area! Pretty cool if you are a party of two! Just climb that little ladder! The food was great! I had the chilaquiles and thoroughly enjoyed them! I was not aware that this was a “FRIENDS” building which explains all the people taking photos of the building.

We originally found this restaurant bc it’s below the Friends apartment, although the show used the exterior and was not filmed in the apartment.
We thought we were being seated in the restaurant and they took us to their secondary location, just a store or two door. A little disappointed since the reservation was made in advance and one of us was a huge Friends fan.
The food. Good to great. There are limited vegetarian items and you need to ask, bc depending on your strictness, some things container chicken broth, oyster sauce, etc. However I was happy with their accommodations. I had the burrata and a salad. The rest of the table had a variety of items, their overall favorite were the French fries. Would maybe come again.

Food and service was exceptional. The atmosphere is loud but it was expected. Little Owl is a cozy, charming restaurant offering delicious, high-quality American cuisine. Known for its intimate setting and warm atmosphere, it serves flavorful dishes with a creative twist. A great spot for a memorable meal!

Nice cozy place, really small though. I went with a friend for breakfast before taking my flight back home, I was traveling with a really small carry on luggage and I had to leave it close to the door because there’s no room around the table for it. The food was really good, but I don’t think I will be back.

A thoroughly charming and intimate American bistro in the West Village. Food couldn't be more delicious. And the service was as good as it gets. The roast chicken was sublime. Try the spicy green beans as well. This is sometimes a tough reservation to get but keep trying. You won't be sorry. A New York classic.
Went back June 14th and was again fantastic. From start to finish this is one of the best meals you'll get in nyc. Service is outstanding. The food looks as good as it tastes. You haven't eaten in nyc unless you've eaten here.

The pizza was excellent. The service was good there's nothing bad about the place. It certainly is a family friendly establishment. But I will say I don't think you can go wrong where you get pizza in the city. I think if you stop and get a $2 slice it would be just as good. And I'm certainly not knocking John's I'm simply saying that there are a lot of good pizza joints in Manhattan.

John’s Pizzeria on Bleecker Street is a must-visit! The sauce is absolutely delicious — rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The pizza was incredible, and the customer service was just as impressive. Friendly staff who make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. Can’t wait to come back!

Being a native New Yorker I’ve had the privilege of eating at many pizza places throughout my time living here. Hands down their pizza is at the top of my list. This is a popular place so get ready to wait online outside. The line moves quick. Once you are inside we were seated quickly and the pizza came out fast and piping hot. We loved the sauce and the stringy cheese.

I got the plain cheese, the cheese pecorino and pepper version and the pepperoni.
Pepperoni = 9.7
Plain cheese = 9.2
Pecorino parmesean pepper = 8.4
As you see the pepperoni is to die for. The key ingredient here is the pepperoni which is if high quality. Usually peperoni on pizza is just generic crap but John's of Bleecker St is obviously using a higher grade pepperoni for their pizza. A+.
The dough is very good very high quality but not the very best I've ever had.
The sauce for their pizza is very good with a super subtle sweet flavor that is like a good marziano tomato. Just tastes fresh and well suited to the pizza. Excellent sauce.
The cheese mozzarella is good not the very best I've ever had which would have helped the cheese pizza score more.
The pecorino and parm again not the best quality there so that was my least favorite but still am excellent pizza you can't miss.
The cook was superb with a not too thin crust that was cooked to perfection for each pie.
A+. Worth the wait. They get people in and out. There is a cookie place diwn the street called chips something. That's very good for desert too.

A popular old school pizza restaurant, we came around 4:30pm on a weekday and was able to get a table. The place fills up fast and there’s always a line. We ordered the half calamari/ half meatball to share, and also the large “The Fifty #50” for the table. It’s a combo pie with the meats and the veggies. The calamari was good with the marinara sauce, the meatballs were tender and moist. The pie had a lot of meat on it, it was falling off the slice. It was delicious, hot and fresh. We were so full and took home some slices.

Visiting the original Magnolia Bakery at 401 Bleecker Street in the West Village is a great experience. The shop has a charming vibe with vintage decor and a cozy atmosphere. Their cupcakes are tasty, but the star is definitely the banana pudding. It’s smooth, rich, and absolutely delicious. They also offer a peanut banana pudding, though it’s not as impressive. Staff were super friendly. Expect long queues, especially on weekends. Parking is nearly impossible, so plan accordingly.

Yes. Get the banana pudding. It’s so fluffy and delicious. It has that chilliness but not too cold, just the right amount to know that it’s so smooth and light. The banana is not too sweet nor too tough, just blends in with the rest of the pudding. I also got the red velvet cupcake and it was delicious! Staff was friendly and it was busy but it moves quick everything.

The original Magnolia Bakery is much smaller than I expected, but it’s packed with charm — and flavor! I had a cupcake that was absolutely delicious — rich, moist, and full of that classic homemade taste. There’s very limited seating right outside the shop, but luckily there’s a park just across the street where you can sit and enjoy your treat. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area and craving something sweet!

Decent line but quick turn around. Not too clean interior and too much going on. But the pastries are good. Came for the bread pudding. It was alright but wouldn’t come again just for the pastries and to wait in line.

I'm still dreaming about my incredible dining experience at Palma! From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a treat. The atmosphere was cozy and intimate, with a warm and inviting decor that made me feel like I was in a little slice of Italy. But what really stole the show was the food - oh, the food! Every dish I tried was expertly prepared and presented, with flavors that danced on my palate. The service was also top-notch, with friendly and attentive staff who knew their stuff. If you're looking for an authentic Italian experience in the city, look no further than Palma. I'll be back, and soon! 5 stars isn't enough - I'd give it 10 stars if I could!

We came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday, and honestly, this Italian restaurant didn’t exactly exceed my expectations.
We ordered a lot of dishes, and I was especially looking forward to the Fried Artichoke—it’s what brought us here in the first place. But it ended up being just okay… a bit over-fried and pretty average in flavor.
The duck pasta was also a letdown—too salty, and the duck didn’t taste very fresh. Then we had the lamb chops, which were under-seasoned, though the pumpkin puree underneath was surprisingly delicious.
The real stars of the meal were actually the seafood dishes. The fried calamari and the salad were so good—totally blew me away. If you come here, don’t miss the seafood. That’s where they shine.
One thing I really appreciated was the flowers—every single one of them is real, no fakes. You can tell the owner really puts love into this place. The floral arrangements were absolutely beautiful, and I couldn’t help but take a bunch of pictures.
My friends loved the decor too—it’s such a photogenic spot, especially for girls. If your girlfriend or bestie has a birthday coming up, this place would definitely make her smile. The interior design is just stunning.

It was a birthday celebration. The food was delicious fresh taste like Italy. The service was amazing and the servers were knowledgeable of the menu and made sure they checked in. The mushroom fettuccine and the lamb chops were delicious entrees. I also loved the appetizers. I would definitely come back. I wish I took more pics of the food but it was a such a good time. I would highly recommend this place if you’re looking to do a birthday dinner, good deal for 9 people. With like 3 rounds of drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert was around 1600$ including tip and gratuity for 9 people but of course this will vary on how many people you are with and what you order. Thank you all so much.

Lunch at Palma Was ABSOLUTELY outstanding! From the welcoming host greeting us when we came in to the flowers surrounding our table and ornate porcelain plates. Every detail makes you feel welcomed and cared for. The food is supremely fantastic with only the best locally sourced ingredients. I highly recommend the Pissaladiere, which is from the French side of the menu a savory Provencal tart and the tiramisu! Buon appetito and Bon appétit!

The vibes at Palma are unmatched, get ready to get whisked away to a quant little town in Italy! This restaurant came up as having great gluten-free options when I was doing some research for a dinner with some friends. It's rare to find a restaurant that is good at gluten-free pasta but according to my GF friend, the Cacio e Pepe ravioli was amazing.
The quality of the ingredients is so clear as you are eating the food and after. I went with the Paccheri all'Astice: the pasta was perfectly al dente and there was a generous amount of lobster which was also cooked to perfection. The sauce is simple yet flavorful and it's everything you could ever want in a seafood pasta.
Our server Guillaume was so kind and attentive and we were really treated so well throughout the whole evening. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to all pasta lovers and especially to those with GF diets!

Awesome selection of rotating taps with a great variety of beers. Their online draft list links directly to Untappd, so you can check out reviews of their selection before making your choice. Decent prices overall and helpful bartenders. The main bar area can get loud, but there's also outdoor seating (limited) for when the weather is nice and you want to relax. Love this place.

An excellent bar. We’ve been coming here for years. It gets very crowded and boisterous during sports games, and sometimes a very young crowd with NYU down the street, but it’s great in terms of variety. It can be quiet and cozy or a real party. The tap list is excellent, the bartenders friendly and helpful even when it’s busy. 24 taps, and solid nachos!

Third review and each time such a different experience. Quiet and Monday so we had a nice window table. As usual really nice beer selections. They offer soda in cans and they have wine however no cocktails. Still a neighborhood staple and always good items on tap. No tables were outside though weather was awesome maybe since it was a Monday?
Here now and what an obnoxious door person and the waitress Cassie I think. I had purchased a Mexican Coke and I get it I should have waited to drink it so the door man asked me to put it away and I did. Then my husband went in a got me a Diet Coke. She explained no outside food or drink. No issue makes sense. Then as I was switching seats with my husband after just buying the coke he came back and asked if we were leaving since someone needed a table?! Huh I just purchased a drink and husband has a beer? I waited for 20 minutes for my table and he didn’t try to help me?! I don’t care if it is busy not my issue. Was not usual friendly here and today before at Patrick’s day it was not! Took the fun out of coming to blind tiger for me for sure. Not sure why such a bad disposition and as soon as they asked me to put my coke away I complied so not sure why still an attitude!
Just left the blind tiger where we have been coming for years and I didn’t realize I didn’t review. They have a huge selection of beers from all the country and they have a kitchen which makes wonderful grilled cheese and Mac n cheese. Lots of high gravity and high alcohol and great selections you don’t see everywhere else in the city. Always busy just two small bathrooms in the back corner. Now they have outside seating in the street and in outside structure. Here is todays board

I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon while waiting to pick up a pizza across the street. I was surprised at the number of beers they had on draft. It was a cozy place and the bartender that helped me was hot af. I ordered an IPA and tried to pay with a credit card until he told me there was a two drink minimum for using a card, so I had to go get cash from my mom who was with me. Not a big deal but we didn’t have ones on hand so I couldn’t tip him. It was a beautiful day so he came by to open all the windows and let fresh air in which made it extra enjoyable. He politely asked if he could open our window as it was getting a “little hot” in there. It wasn’t just the temp! Anyway, it was a great visit. I would have stayed longer but had to get my pizza and catch a flight home. Definitely would visit again!

This restaurant delivered an exceptional dining experience, distinguished by its outstanding cuisine, beverages, service, and atmosphere. Our server was remarkably courteous and provided excellent recommendations. The manager was very attentive and displayed exceptional hospitality. The burrata, roasted mushrooms, octopus, duck breast, and roasted chicken are highly recommended dishes.
We eagerly anticipate returning.

Very disappointing meal. Potion sizes were extremely small and the bread we ordered was quite bad and didn’t go with the pasta at all. Pasta was good but not particularly great. Why no offer of parm or pepper? We were extremely hurried by the server, even interrupted in our conversation. Place clearly just trying to make money. We’ve found a lot of these West Village places have become like this. I put down birthday dinner on the reservation but they didn’t do anything - Felice gave us something and it wasn’t even my birthday! Wines by the glass were mediocre. The olive oil cake was great though!

I came here for lunch with a group of seven, and it was a busy spot, but not too loud. It had a really nice atmosphere, especially sitting by the stairs. One of my friends ordered the arancini and offered me a bite—I didn’t get any appetizers myself, but it wasn’t greasy at all and tasted great. If I come back, I’d definitely order that. For my meal, I had the Pici Cacio e Pepe, which was hands down one of the best pasta dishes I’ve ever had. The balance of cheese and black pepper was just perfect. I loved it, and two others in my group ordered the same thing. I highly recommend it. Another friend mentioned she’d heard great things about the olive oil cake, which seemed to be a signature dessert, according to our waitress. I tried it, and it was really enjoyable.

L’Artusi is one of those West Village gems that never goes out of style. The food is consistently amazing—elegant but not overdone. Their pastas are truly next level (the ricotta gnocchi and the olive oil cake are musts!).
The space is modern and lively, perfect for date night or dinner with friends. It does get busy, so make a reservation in advance. Service is polished, but when it’s packed, things might move a little slower. Still, the overall experience is totally worth it—L’Artusi knows how to deliver both flavor and vibe.

My recent visit to this Italian restaurant was a blend of delightful highlights. The service was truly exceptional—warm, friendly, and highly professional. The staff was attentive without being overbearing, creating a welcoming atmosphere that made the meal feel special from start to finish. Their knowledge of the menu and genuine enthusiasm elevated the dining experience significantly.
The pasta was an absolute must-try, a highlight that showcased the kitchen’s skill. The dish I ordered, a perfectly al dente tagliatelle with a rich, savory ragù, was bursting with deep, comforting flavors that lingered on the palate. Each bite was a testament to the restaurant’s ability to execute classic Italian cuisine with finesse. Another intriguing offering was the olive cake for dessert—an unexpected and creative twist. It had a subtle, earthy sweetness with a moist, tender crumb, balancing the savory notes of olive with just the right touch of sugar. It was a bold choice that paid off, leaving me curious about their other desserts.
Unfortunately, the outdoor seating was a significant drawback. My table was uncomfortably close to some trash bin, which not only disrupted the ambiance but also brought an unpleasant odor that clashed with the otherwise delightful meal. The charming string lights and cozy patio setup couldn’t fully offset this issue, making it hard to fully relax and enjoy the surroundings.
Despite the seating misstep, the exceptional pasta, inventive olive cake, and stellar service make this Italian restaurant worth recommending. For the best experience, I’d strongly suggest requesting indoor seating to avoid the less-than-ideal outdoor setup. With a few tweaks, this place could easily become a go-to spot for Italian cuisine lovers.

Once considered a standout among New York’s speakeasies, this bar still delivers well-executed cocktails that meet expectations in terms of balance and technique. However, in the context of an increasingly competitive cocktail scene, it now feels somewhat overshadowed — particularly when it comes to creativity in presentation and the use of innovative ingredients.
That said, the quality remains solid, and for those seeking a classic speakeasy experience with reliably crafted drinks, it still holds its place.

Amazing atmosphere with a vintage twist!
Employees Only truly lives up to its reputation. The interior design feels like you’re stepping into a 1920s speakeasy — warm lighting, wood panels, and cozy booths give it an elegant but relaxed vibe. The service was attentive, and the cocktails were outstanding — creative, balanced, and beautifully presented. Perfect spot for a night out or date night. Highly recommended!

A mixed experience. The food was good, but not spectacular - the burger was kind of a classic pub burger, lettuce, tomato, cheese. I wasn’t disappointed with it, but it wasn’t something I’d go out of my way to eat again. The schnitzel was a little below average - oddly bone-in, and the seasoning was very low. We also thought the bone marrow poppers were a pretty poor appetizer for the cost, and were very disappointed there. The cocktails were good and we were happy with all of them - the Isabella in particular was delicious and beautiful. The service from our waitress was amazing - she was incredibly kind and helpful, but the security and host started our reservation off wrong. We adhered to the dress code in the email, which they are strict about and I suggest you follow to the letter. No mention of shorts, however, and initially security denied us entry for the fact I was wearing shorts. As we were pulling up the reservation, they admitted other patrons in torn jean shorts, and it wasn’t until I protested that the dress code was inconsistently followed that they admitted us for our reservation. The dinner was to celebrate a promotion, and I really felt this out a damper on the evening - it’s a real shame, since our actual waitress was great!

We didn’t have a reservation on a Saturday night. So had to wait in line for about 10 mins before they could accommodate us near the bar area. The bar was amazing and extremely crowded, but because we were at the bar, the service was quick. The drinks are extremely innovative and tasty! I would definitely be back for more.

Complete and delicious experience from start to finish. Delicate and gorgeous cocktails, we had the Amelia and Isabella. Oysters came with homemade sauces. Table-side steak tartar is one of the best Ive had. Portions are massive on the schnitzel. We enjoyed everything and service was impeccable.

Steak sandwich was perfectly cooked. It is more of a friends or family gathering kind of atmosphere than just a bar. Server was inattentive, other than that everything was great

Fun small spot with a good cocktail selection in the West Village. I tried the Firm Handshake, Cucumber Gimlet, hot spiked cider, and orange gold. I would not recommend the hot spiked cider because it wasn’t that balanced but everything else was delicious depending on your liquor of preference. The orange gold was pleasant-better than expected and very smooth but not too sweet. People liked the winter chill, which is very mezcal forward. There is Macallan 10 and 12 here but not 15. The crowd skews younger.

Cozy spot for some excellent beer and a phenomenal burger. The beer selection was great and we were able to try a few. We went in without any expectations but left with a new go to spot in the west village.

We loved popping in here for a drink before dinner. The rustic interior inside is great and our cocktails were fantastic! Our bartender was also extremely friendly. All around a great experience, enjoyed the open windows and doors and would love to come back.

You can always meet a kind stranger or generous bartender here! Fun for dates or a drink with friends. Also maintains later hours than most west village bars
