Very busy when we wet on a weekday… food came in pretty quick and hot. It’s a great place to get your hotdog cravings satisfaction. Really easy ordering their kiosk too.. staff are busy and still have time to be very accommodating still.

The first place we went after getting off the subway on our day trip to Coney Island was to the original Nathan's Famous restaurant on the corner of Stilwell St & Surf St, about 200 yards from the subway station.
We had read about this famous restaurant, which began in 1916 as a nickel hot dog stand in Coney Island operated by Nathan Handwerker a Jewish-Polish immigrant, and wanted to try their famous hot dogs.
There's a seafood section on the left hand side as you enter the long Surf St store front and a hot dog section on the right. I ordered the original hotdog with sautéed onions & a large pint of draft Brooklyn beer for my wife and a chilli dog with sautéed onions & extra jalapeños with 1/2 pint of the draft Coney Island Mermaid IPA beer for myself, at one of the self order kiosks. The kiosks only accepted credit card payments and I'm not sure if you could pay with cash. I choose the eating in option, paid $40 and waited for a server to call out my name to pick up my order from the counter. It wasn't busy on our visit so our food & drinks came out pretty quickly.
Ketchup, mustard, napkins & plastic cutlery were provided on self service carts by the entrances to the store. After loading up on mustard & Ketchup on our hot dogs, we found a table in the large outdoor seating area, which had restrooms at the far end of it.
The hot dogs were very tasty on fluffy, soft lightly toasted rolls & I particularly enjoyed the extra bit of heat & crunch provided by the fresh jalapeños on my hot dog. My wife's Brooklyn beer was a dark hoppy beer & my Coney Island Mermaid IPA beer was lighter & fruity. Both beers were refreshingly cold and perfectly accompanied our hot dogs.
The hot dogs are fairly small so I went back to the counter and ordered 4 delicious chicken tender pieces (which were perfectly crunchy on the outside, tender & moist inside) accompanied by a fantastic honey mustard sauce, together with another Nathan's original hotdog to share, for $15.
We really enjoyed our first experience of Nathan's Famous food and beers sitting outdoors in the hot late summer sun, near the sea👍
We passed another Nathan's store when we walked along the Boardwalk and just managed to resist our urges to have another of their delicious hotdogs 🤣

Nathan’s
1310 Surf Ave.
Brooklyn, NY 11224
Hot Dog
From a historic standpoint, this casual hot dog restaurant is a goldmine. This is the original location that originally started out as a hot stand in the early 20th century. The annual Fourth of July hot dog eating contest is held here. And it is conveniently only footsteps away from the Coney Island Boardwalk.
Hot Dog:
On a positive note, there was no extra charge for the sautéed onions in the frankfurter. Sadly, the hot dog did not live up to the hype. The dog was served room temperature and the bun looks like it has seen better days. Its taste was average at most and I felt the effort attempt wasn’t there.
Overall, if you are in the area and need a quick bite, I’d suggest pulling up. Otherwise, you will be highly disappointed if you make a special trip expecting the hot dog of the century.

Had to visit the original location of my favorite chilli dogs! Love those classic fries as well.
Great snap to the dogs and the famous chilli recipe did not disappoint. Fries were on point as well.
Very quiet because I went during the off-season, but it was a Birthday treat and did not disappoint! 😁

I stopped by Nathan’s Famous in Coney Island since it’s such a well-known spot. The place has that classic boardwalk vibe, and it was fun to finally try their original hot dog. Honestly though, the hot dog itself was just okay—nothing particularly special to me. It was nice for the experience and the history behind it, but taste-wise, it didn’t really stand out, yet was quite pricy.

We had just arrived in town and needed a nice meal. Wow, did we hit the jackpot! Greeted at the door by the owner, atmosphere was gorgeous yet comfortable, food was amazing, Emilio, our server, was not only professional, but friendly, and made our dining experience that much more special. Very reasonably priced for this quality of food and level of service. On the way out we spoke to George, the bartender, I can’t wait to come back and try one of his espresso martinis! Thank you!

Woooow such an amazing experience! Stepping into this restaurant was like going back in time 60 years to a bygone era of the godfather and goodfellas. Tuxedo clad waiters and a dress code with classy 1960s era of fine dining was such a cool experience. Our waiter Jerry was soooo classy, funny, and friendly! He was able to explain everything in the menu with detail and gave us awesome recommendations.
The food was spectacular 60s era Italian dining with baked clams, veal Parmesan, and an absolutely massive seafood pasta platter that they served on still in the pan.
Absolutely spectacular gargiulo’s is a must visit when you come to Coney Island, grazie mille!

Chicken Scarpariello, Veal chop,
Pork chop, baked clams and mussels in red sauce were all delicious. Tiramisu for dessert was yummy.
All three of us enjoyed our meal as well as the cocktails and wine. Service was attentive and impeccable. It's a great old place; very classy. I recommend it highly.
There is a dress code so if you go to Coney Island beach make sure you have change of clothes.

Totonno’s in Coney Island is a true NYC classic. The pizza is excellent — you can really taste the quality ingredients and the care that goes into making it. The staff are wonderful, straight-up authentic New Yorkers, which makes the whole experience even better. The old-school atmosphere feels like stepping back in time, and you can sense the history in every corner. This place is a real gem and such an important part of New York’s pizza story. Definitely worth the trip.
John Gonsalves - 6 months ago
This historical gem is located in the heart of Coney Island which is why I gave it one star for atmosphere but the service is pretty good like previously stated in other reviews the owner can be a bit rough around the edges but she's an old school Italian lady and I get it growing up in Brooklyn myself. Most importantly the pizza is really good But like other people said it's a bit pricey for the size of the pie but you get what you pay for and I believe that it's worth it even if you only want to try it once to experience a taste of History.
Lee - a month ago
I wanted to love this place due to its history, being on Somebody Feed Phil, and being walking distance to home. However, it’s very expensive for what it is, 2 pizzas (one white and one pepperoni with a few vegetables) was $60. They were between 12 and 14 inches. The pizza is good but not enough for the price. The owner at first can be a bit rough around the edges but I stood in there and chatted with her and the staff with everyone becoming friendly. There is no inside seating anymore, takeout only.
David Carver - 2 months ago
You have to go inside and order your whole pie, pay and provide your phone number. They will call you when the pie is ready for pickup. No eating inside so you can take your pie out and eat on the curb, like we did …
I have to say that one pie is great for 2 people and the dough is exceptional.

Probably come once a year here, and have been doing so for over ten years. Usually after spending the day at Coney Island, we'll go to this place to unwind. It's low-key. The food is decent. I like that it's not too crowded. Don't get much, the typical order is a beer and some snack. Think the main reason is because they have an AC.
Michele Borg - a month ago
Great time was had by all. Exception being there was no food to purchase and I was very disappointed. My first time to this venue and the only problem was food service stops too early in my opinion and I'd you book a party, please expect people will want to eat. 4 stars due to lack of food. Will definitely return...

Had my first date here and the customer service was amazing. The burgers were delicious but what makes me and my man come back, is the mozzarella sticks. They are the best mozzarella sticks we ever had. The ambiance is chill which we love. Will be coming back soon for our anniversary ❤️

Drinks are reasonable but the service was non existent. Not sure which waitress it was but one had an attitude as if I owed her something. Over all experience on show was great, food good but you might want to get people who wants to work and kind to your customers.

Went there for late lunch with family after hanging out at the beach. Got inside right away because it was not that busy. Food was great, staff were attentive and friendly. Drinks were good. Very satisfied with everything except one small thing, they need to turn on the AC a bit cooler during the hot days 🤣.

This has to be the worst Popeyes experience I have ever had. There was vomit on the seats in the restaurant, a customer was openly vaping at a booth while they waited for their food, the wait was insane and the food itself was a disaster. The red beans and rice was not fully cooked, the sauce content on the chicken was laughable and the "wings" were not even wings as there was no bone in the chicken which I asked for. Also, I am quite sure that there was only one guy working both stations (register and food). If that is the case then I don't blame him, there is only so much one guy can do. But honestly that is the manager's fault for not hiring enough staff. The overall experience was not worth the $25 that I paid for the order.
I normally have a decent experience at this place so I am quite surprised that the quality has gone down so much. I hope this changes really soon. Otherwise, I am never coming back to this location.

Every summer I come here to this exact spot to get some delicious chicken, I’ve been to many other Popeyes but this one is none like the others. Very friendly and delicious 11/10 would recommend.
Zen - 10 months ago
Great people work here friendly and kind especially for how many different people and temperaments they have to serve.
They were short staffed the 3 times we tried to eat there.
The food is solid it's what your expect from Popeyes.
The accommodations are very disappointing it really feels like management doesn't care and even with it being clean as often as the workers could get to it there a lack of seating and the spaces are poorly used and defined.

Walked past and decided to pop in. So glad we did. Excellent service throughout, the staff are really friendly. The food was so good. The steak bites and crumbed shrimp was spot on. The wife quesadillas always a gd choice. Followed by strawberry and banana pancakes WOW 😲 so glad we tried those.

Good value for money, very friendly staff. Yara was really helpful and charming. A friendly diner like family restaurant. Just the meat on the big steak omelette was a bit chewy, the restrooms are not exceptionally clean, and some seats need a more professional repair.

Came here for a Saturday morning breakfast and it was fantastic all across the board. I had the ‘Have it ALL’ breakfast and it really did have it ALL. I did add a couple of extra sausage links but it was not necessary. Everything was delicious and the atmosphere was perfect. The super awesome icing on the cake was our server Yara. She was super professional, attentive, courteous, and friendly. We had a lovely chat and it rounded out our experience to perfect. We are looking forward to our next visit soon. Thank You ✌️❤️

The food was simply okay, nothing too spectacular. The service was great, however advertising a student discount without any terms and conditions and then refusing to take an international student card was a slightly disappointing.
The dessert was very nice, especially the milkshakes!

Stopped by early for a couple of drinks. Plenty of seating, service was good. Walked around for a while then decided to go back for more. Small crowd had filled up most of the place and still got good service. Bartenders were busy but still made time to follow up on our drink orders to make sure she got them right. Will be back.

Amazing pizza and service. Our whole family enjoyed the pizza here. We tried the meat lovers and the pepperoni. This is a family ran restaurant and they had a great atmosphere. There was a lot of seating for large groups and the service was very fast.

I went to Surf City Pizzeria with a couple of friends, and we had such a lovely time! It’s a cozy and pleasant spot with a really welcoming atmosphere. The place was pretty clean, and the staff were super friendly and attentive. We ordered three wraps, and they were absolutely delicious — plus the portions were huge for only $14, which is such a great deal!
The pizza at the table next to us looked amazing, so I’m definitely planning to try it next time. It’s the perfect spot to visit in the summer, but honestly, it’s a great place to hang out any time of year. I’d definitely come back!

Best pizza in Coney Island no questions asked !
My childhood pizza spot and remains to be.
I always order to go and never had an issue. The grandma slice, actually all the square slices are special ! Buffalo chicken and pepperoni roll are also my favorites.
Only thing to be aware is :
There is no bathroom here
Not that many tables
No music playing
9/10❤️

The grandma slice is to die for, and their regular slice (cheese slice) tastes like old Mew Yrok Pizza. Get it extra hot!! You won't regret it!

Good slice with a good fold and a nice, crispy, crust. The slice was heavier on the cheese than anything else which may be preferable to some, but not to those looking for a more balanced slice. Friendly staff and quick service.
