The American Club started out as a dormitory for immigrant workers and now operates as one of the most well-regarded resorts in the Midwest, which is a pretty remarkable transformation when you think about it. Walking into the Tudor-style brick building, you get this immediate sense of old-world hospitality, the kind that feels deliberate rather than performative. We arrived as snow was falling lightly outside, and it set a tone for the whole stay that felt cozy and a little storybook.
Check-in was smooth, and we ended up getting a small upgrade to a nicer room without asking, which set a good tone right away. The rooms themselves were elegant without feeling stiff, comfortable beds, a quiet that made it easy to settle in after a day outside. We spent a good chunk of time at the Kohler Waters Spa, which is genuinely one of the best parts of staying here, the treatments were relaxing and the staff clearly know what they're doing. Dinner one evening leaned into a brunch-style spread with several dishes, and the food across the board was consistently well prepared, nothing flashy but executed with care. Our friends spent an afternoon at the Swing Suite trying out the golf simulator setup, which sounded like a fun way to spend time without needing actual golf weather.
Checkout was just as smooth as check-in, the valet team handled everything without us having to think twice about it, which is the kind of small detail that makes the whole stay feel effortless from start to finish.

Walking into Tom’s Restaurant feels like stepping into a place that never really changed, and that is kind of the charm. The booths are simple, the menu is straightforward, and everything moves at a calm diner pace. I ordered blueberry pancakes first and they came out fluffy and soft with a light sweetness that did not feel heavy.
The western omelet was next and it had that home cooked style with peppers, ham, and onions all folded together in a way that felt familiar. The French toast had a nice crisp edge but stayed soft inside, and it soaked up syrup without turning soggy too quickly. Coffee kept getting refilled without needing to ask which added to the comfort of the place.
It felt like the kind of spot you don’t overthink, you just settle in and eat slowly.

The food came out very quick and the service was good, however I’m surprised to see so many good reviews. My omelet came with canned mushrooms and that fake American cheese. The homefries were not crispy and tasted very strange, almost strongly of white pepper or feet. Very kindly our server brought us fries instead. We got the danish pancakes and they were ok (artificial lemon flavor). Our server also brought us some lime Rickey’s on the house. The prices are pretty good but food is lacking a bit in quality. Come if you want a cheap-ish meal and nice quick service..

Tom's restaurant does it right. I walked in with my family. I was going to walk out because it was so crowded. Before I made that tragic error, I was being seated. Coffee hit my table before I finished ordering it. The service was amazing and mind you this place was packed. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious. I want to say so many positive things about Tom's but I will leave you with just 2 words, "WOW" & "YUM".

I’ve been coming to Tom’s Diner for decades, but lately it’s lost some of its old-school charm. The atmosphere isn’t what it used to be, much louder now, new residents pack the place with strollers, screaming babies and constant chatter making it feel more like a daycare than the classic Brooklyn diner I remember.
To be fair, the staff is still friendly and hospitable and the last few times I went management even comped parts of my meals because of my dissatisfaction, which I appreciated.
That said, the food quality just hasn’t been the same. The final kicker for me was being served eggs with a perfectly recognizable, unmelted square of cheese just sitting on top. Also not the cheapest spot on the block anymore. Sad to say, it’s no longer my neighborhood go-to.

Love, love LOVE this spot! Service was impeccable 👌🏾. The chicken and pancakes was absolutely delightful. Pancakes were light and fluffy. Chicken seasoned just right. It came with a honey mustard and some sort of lemon based custard. AMAZING. The rum punch was delicious. We met Cheryl and she is like that favorite Auntie everyone loves. Highly recommend. The food was so good I forgot to take a pic! LOL

its been a while since ive ate at a spot that hit every mark on the food. I was able to enjoy their dinner menu with the fried calamari with chili sauce which was crispy, seasoned and served with their scotch bonnet hot sauce. The jerk roast pork bowl was delicious with tender pork and pickled carrots and onions (I wish there was more!!). And we finished with a brownie sundae and by the end of the meal I was stuffed and I had leftovers. I def want to come back to enjoy their brunch menu!!

Came back to Cheryl's with a friend and was able to sit outside and eat which was nice. I got the fried calamari again but this time I had the blackened catfish which was SO tender and melted in my mouth. I was shocked that a piece of white fish could be so decadent. The mac and cheese was also a winner, they do use penne which is different but it feels so much more homecooked that way. Our server was friendly, attentive and suggested a dish my friend enjoyed. Anyways, love this place cant wait to come back again.

Might’ve found my new breakfast/ brunch spot and I will be back for dinner to confirm that this is my new spot all around. My food was delicious and my wife was pleased with her meal as well. The drinks were great as well. It was small inside but not too cramped. I like the homey feel. Our server, Sage, was amazing. Really attentive and explained a lot about the restaurant and how they cook their food. I took his suggestion on my meal and was very happy. I will definitely be back and refer this place to everyone who’ll listen!

I took my adult daughter and her friends for Sunday brunch, and we had the most delightful brunch in the beautiful back garden patio. The host greeted us with such genuine warmth and we immediately felt that we were being welcomed like family. Our server was attentive and helpful and the food was delicious and homey. Don’t miss this spot if you’re looking for a break from overpriced, overhyped brunch venues near the Brooklyn Museum and Prospect Park.

The service is what saved the review from not being 1 star. The food was something that honestly didn’t seem like something that should be served at a restaurant as the common person could easily make something more tasteful at home. The french toast was literally 2 slices of bread, no addition to it besides the slices of banana I ordered on top. The driest french toast I’ve ever had, I don’t even enjoy cooking and have made way better French toast. Then the egg sandwich was just egg and cheese on plain bread with the quality of something you could get at a deli and quite dry also, again no additional component that would differentiate this establishment. The ginger juice was good though. I can’t speak to dinner or lunch here but breakfast/brunch here? Definitely skip. The other reviews seemed to have highlighted the chicken and pancakes so maybe that is worth trying but don’t imagine I’ll be back to try.

The place is chill and warm, the staff is very welcoming.
We had a breakfast sandwich and it was seriously good 👏🏻! The coffee was also delicious.
They have shared inside sitting and tables on the outside too. We decided to sit on the little bar by the window and it was very comfortable.
They offer free WiFi at the place.

I think this is the best café in the neighborhood. They have been around for a while, so they have their customer service system and food down pat.
Their prices give you a very good value, considering how good the food is. I recommend the oatmeal, which is so decadent and hearty, and beautifully presented.
The social scene is not overly sceney, which is refreshing. It’s a nice place with nice customers and employees.
The drip coffee is okay, but at $2.50 it’s amazing.
The bathroom is cold in the winter, so be ready for that, if you’re going to sit down.
Overall, Lincoln Station accomplishes what most cafés cannot.

Good atmosphere - decent food.
this is a silly critique. But they give way too much ice on their 5 dollar drinks. I’ve never gone to a place with such an intense ice to drink ratio- it just makes you feel like you’re being conned.
You can ask for less ice which they happily oblige 😂

We were looking for a brunch spot while we were in New York for a little overnight trip. Shane's came up. Wait was 15 mins. I noticed while going to the bathroom that they also have downstairs seating. Place was packed. Food was excellent. They fried that fish to perfection, mac n cheese 💯💯mixed vegetables also (not pictured)..Service was also on point. I'm the only one who didn't have anything to take home. Lol🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️🤷🏾♀️..We all agreed that we would most definitely come back when in the area. Prices were not bad either. Great soul food spot!! Better get you some..💃🏽💃🏽💯💯

I’ve been here a number of times and overall I’ve had a good experience. One thing I appreciate is that I never have a hard time finding parking, which is a huge plus in Brooklyn.
The food is consistently good. My go to order is the whiting with the red velvet waffles..they’re definitely worth trying. The prices are pretty standard for what you’d expect.
My biggest complaints are the hours and the ordering process. They close pretty early, which can be frustrating, and I wish they accepted phone orders. Having to place every order in person or third party isn’t the most convenient.
Overall, the quality of the food keeps me coming back, but extending the hours and allowing phone orders would make the experience even better.

Overall the place wasn’t bad, I came for girls brunch and the food was edible. The flavors are there for sure, but my food was overcooked. The chicken was very dry but the cinnamon waffle was delicious enough to get over the dryness. Loved my waiter, he was a joy. My friend very much enjoyed her grits.
I tried to be generous with the atmosphere but the downstairs had no service, hated that.

Bread was great, pork was great, my only complaint was just that there was not enough pork! I've eaten a ton of banh mi's and this was one of the smaller ones I've had. Otherwise, still very good!

Highly recommend the grilled pork banh mi, medium or spicy :)
There is some seating inside and a bench outside, but we took our banh mi’s to go and sat on benches on Eastern Parkway.
If you pay cash (they do not take Venmo or Zelle), you can avoid the 4% surcharge.

This tiny spot only has 2–3 small tables, so it's mostly "gotta go," but the food is incredible. I’ve eaten here many times and the sandwiches never disappoint. I absolutely love the classic banh mi, and my friend always gets the excellent chicken. It’s easily a neighborhood favorite.

A good choice for a quick bite. Just 2 minutes walking distance from the Brooklyn museum. We stopped by after the museum visit, luckily got the table as seating is very limited. Good grilled pork Banh Mi and Vietnamese coffee. Efficient service.

Their grilled pork bahn mi (extra meat, extra mayo) is still the best banh mi I’ve had in the city after 5+ years here. Doesn’t hurt too that the staff is so kind and the prices are great! Really a takeout/delivery spot - there’s not a lot of seating. You won’t be disappointed!

Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.
The vibes are amazing, the live music is beautiful, the food is delicious, and the staff are so sweet. I arrived earlier than my husband and asked to sit on the less active side of the restaurant. While looking over the menu at least 4 staff members outside of my server checked in on me to make sure I was taken care of. The food was great. Highly recommend the Hot Honey Chicken. The plates are served like eating dinner at home. 100/10 I am definitely going back again. Also, margaritas were delicious.

I hate to say it, but I was a bit disappointed. I decided to visit this restaurant for the first time while I was in the neighborhood on a Saturday. Unfortunately, the service was very slow. The speaker wasn’t working on one side of the restaurant, making it difficult to enjoy the music and overall atmosphere. My burger was just okay—not the best I’ve had. To make matters worse, my French fries never arrived, and I eventually had to cancel the order. Overall, the experience fell short of my expectations.

What a great spot to have a vegan food truck! I'm glad that they're here and Ina great neighborhood. The food was very tasty. They have a good variety of sandwiches, mostly fried but some not. Main cons are a longish wait and the food wasn't particularly hot and the drink not particularly cold. I wish they could fix those but regardless, it was delicious. The owners were very kind

Super friendly people and yummy food! Wasn't extremely hungry but wanted a quick bite, so just had the fried oyster mushrooms and hibiscus punch. I'm not usually a fan of mushrooms but wow I would absolutely get these again! The hibiscus punch was also so delicious. Would definitely come back to try the chickn sandwich or chickn & waffles.

Highly recommend for a pre- or post-BK Museum snack or lunch! I ordered the fried oyster mushrooms and would come back again just for these - perfect amount of breading and loved the sauce that came with it. There were a lot of options on the menu so I’m looking forward to trying some other items such as the empanadas or the tacos. On top of the food being delicious, the staff was incredibly friendly. This is a hidden gem and I hope more people give them a try!

Absolutely delicious new Chinese restaurant near Eastern Pkwy - Brooklyn Museum stop. A few of the best dishes to highlight:
Szechuan Roast Pork Stir Fry
-Sweet & smokey roast pork with a five spice and brown sugar blend is perfect for any meat lovers. Plus, the charred red peppers, onions and jalapeños are yummy!
House Special Peking Noodle
-Sweet dark soy sauce base with salted pork and ginger to be mixed with noodles. The balance of sweet and salty is perfect and the soy sauce egg was surprisingly delicious too.
Salmon Tuna Poke Bowl
-Big portion of fresh fish with mild Sriracha and kewpie mayonnaise. The kids really liked this one and finished the whole thing.
House Special Fried Rice
-Highly underrated! The roast pork again is amazing here, and the shrimp and fried eggs really support the fried rice.
The service here was quick and friendly. The ambiance is quiet and good for families and kids. They mostly do take-out and delivery and have some tables inside.

Because it was only about a two minute ride away and also had good reviews, we stopped by Crown Garden for a late Sunday afternoon lunch after visiting the Brooklyn museum.
Although predominately a takeout/delivery restaurant, there are a few tables at which to eat and the dining area and bathroom were very clean and a step above the dining areas you often find at small Chinese restaurants.
We were greeted by two friendly women who when we remarked that the dish we wanted, cold sesame noodles, was not on the menu said no problem, we can make it for you! So we ordered the noodles and sesame chicken. Portions are generous and our food tasted fresh and flavorful. By the way, they use white meat for their chicken dishes and offer both dim sum and sushi as well as the standard Chinese takeout dishes.
Prices are very reasonable. Two thumbs up for Crown Garden!

I did a carry out order and was pleasantly surprised. This place is newer so I thought I would give them a try. Im happy to say they had some of the better Chinese American takeout in this area of crown heights/prospect heights which tend to be subpar. If you want actually decent Chinese American this place hits the spot. Haven’t tried their other Asian dishes like sushi or poke yet but if it’s as decent as their Chinese food it must be worth it to try. Prices are a little higher than other comparable restaurants but the quality/flavor seems better and portions are reasonable in my opinion. This review is totally based on the food. Did not experience the full service or atmosphere of the restaurant.

EDIT: Came back here today and was severely disappointed. Seems the recipes have changed since they opened. The mapo tofu I ordered was NOT the one I was so excited about when I first came here. It was incredibly bland and had zero meat. Worst mapo I have ever eaten bar none.
Great chinese food. Peking noodles are great. Beef short rib is great. General Tso’s is perfectly crispy — not too hard or soft. Even the brown sugar boba was really good.

Cute all day cafe worth a visit for brunch (haven’t had their dinner service yet). Fantastic, crisp, bright Caesar salad and some of the best fingerling potatoes I’ve ever had. Crispy outside, melt in your mouth inside, and their whipped, almost foamy hollandaise had us scraping our plates. And really enjoyed The Tony, the best grown up version of a ham sandwich I’ve ever had. Can’t wait to go back and try more!

My girlfriend and I really enjoy the food and the overall vibes of this place. This is our second time going and we did not leave disappointed. The baguette with butter, while simple was amazing. We feel like everything we order won’t disappoint us.
However, when it comes to ordering…. This is our second time running into this very particular situation. Every time we order, they suggest to us 4-6 plates for two people. We understand that. Typically we eat on the lighter side. The first time we came, we were made very uncomfortable by the waiter and sort of pushed into ordering 4 dishes. We were uncomfortably full by the end of it and sort of wish that didn’t happen. The second time rolls around and we just decided to order 3 dishes. The waiter told us the whole 4-6 plate idea and we were nicely explaining that we just wanted to do 3 plates and maybe, just maybe, order one by the end of our 3 plates. After that we were ignored the whole entire time by our waiter. Didn’t even ask if we wanted anything additional until desert rolled around. I understand there are suggestions, but we do feel judged by not taking the waiters suggestions.

It’s great for shareable plate and date night, so get 4-6 dishes will be idea! We loved salad, freshly grated cheese created a umami taste and it was very refreshing! Pork was juicy and tender which we also enjoyed. Ragu was alright - way too al dente and salty in our opinion.

Came back for dinner after having a brunch here a month ago. The brunch was solid, but the dinner was fantastic. The non-alcoholic drinks are great (the fir soda is so cool and tasty), had some stand out dishes (the skate and pici are superb), and desserts are lovely (the plutos dish and the financier). Had a great time. The space is lovely and the service was attentive and warm. I will go back in the future.

We got:
Butter bean purre
Fingerling potatoes
Oyster mushroom with onsen egg
Tony sandwich
Butter bean and oyster mushroom were my favorites.
Service was warm and welcoming and I love the interior design of the restaurant. I would come back for brunch and also want to try their dinner menu!
